Priced Out

This week we have a final review of Skeleton Crew, Sean has reviews of Gladiator 2 and Section 31, we discuss the Paul Skeens patch card and what collectible would we love to have and the cost of going to cons and getting autographs plus so much more

[00:00:20] And welcome to episode 602 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean. And I'm Ian, and this is the only podcast that says... Send it in, Jerome! Shaking your head like you don't know that famous quote? Huh. That was... I don't know what you told me.

[00:00:41] Yeah, that was... We were recording on Saturday, January 21st. 35 years ago on this day, Jerome Lane took a pass from Sean Miller and slammed it in and busted the backboard. Ah. The dunk heard around the world. Now I know. Yeah. Dunk heard around the world. Yeah. So what's up?

[00:01:10] Oh, not much. How are you, sir? I'm good. Yeah. Full belly. Really got a full belly. I had burgers and wings. I got a full tummy. Can't complain. I can't either. No. That's it. And on that note... Are you watching anything? No, I finished the...

[00:01:43] What do you call it? Skeleton Crew. Yeah, Skeleton Crew. Yeah. What were your... I mean... First, I guess, what did you think of the finale? And what did you think of the series overall? Um... I thought the finale was good. I thought that there was... It was too kiddy for me. Yeah. It really was. Like... Couldn't get into the kid aspect of it. Right.

[00:02:14] Just... It drove me a little crazy. Right. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But other than that, I mean... Thought it was good. I liked the Jude Law character a lot. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, he was my favorite. By far. Well, I mean, he's an interesting villain. Yeah. I think that's the key to it. It is like... By the end of the series, you know... It's clear-cut. He's the villain.

[00:02:44] Right. And he's a very interesting villain. On top of that. Not... I don't take his side. No. Like, we always talk about some of the best villains. You kind of go like... Yeah. You're spitting some truth there. Right. I don't know how you're going to buy it, but you're spitting some truth. Like, no. I mean, he's a terrible person. But, like... When he's played by Jude Law, it comes off very charismatically. Right. I agree. I thought Jude Law did excellent with the character. Yeah.

[00:03:14] You know what I mean? But it was just... The kid stuff bothered me after a while. Does that make sense? I understand your point. Like, I get it. Like, it didn't bother me. But I think it's just because, like, that's what I expected. Yeah. You know? Yeah, I get it. I feel like if I had watched The Goonies for the first time at the age of 52, I'd be like, Oh, that shit's annoying. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like, but...

[00:03:44] You know, I think... So I think, like, that's just how I kind of viewed it was, like, what was The Goonies in Space. Yeah. And it kind of was. But the finale, I thought, was interesting because it left... To me, it left doors open. Yeah. Number one with Jude Law. Like, there's no, like, what happened to that character. Right. You don't know. But the other thing is, like, the people of Ad Atenan... Yeah. They've basically been in a time capsule. Right.

[00:04:14] For, like, I don't know, 100 years, maybe. Yeah. Like, you know, like, they have no fucking clue what has happened in the galaxy. And they're about to, like, come up to a rude awakening. And that's what I found interesting. Right. Like, that... And that's the weird, like... It's the same thing of, like, why I'm, like, so interested. Like, well, what happened in the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens? Right. What happened with the government?

[00:04:43] How did the government evolve? How did this happen? How did that happen? Like, that's interesting to me. And it's the same thing kind of here. Like, those X-wings are going to land. And people are going to have questions. And, like, you know, how does this all get handled? And plus, as you point out at dinner, there is a fuck ton of credits. Oh, my God! Yeah. Like, what are we making all these credits for? Because that was their job. Yeah.

[00:05:12] That's the job of the planet was to make credits. Right. Like, and... The supervisor kept everything in line. That's, like, at the end of it, like... There was no chaos on that planet. Right. Like, there wasn't even, like, traffic because it was all regulated. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, everything was just a... It was a clockwork planet.

[00:05:42] And that's what they did. They made credits. That was the, you know, waiting for the Republic to come back and take some of their credits away. Yeah. You know, like, what happened to the other six? Like, we found out what happened to one. Like, who knows what happened to the other ones? Yeah. You know? And it's just, it's that thing of, like, how does this affect the galaxy? Right. Like, you know what I mean?

[00:06:10] Like, there's a lot of, like, interesting questions to me that come up because of how they were just in this time capsule for so long. Right, right. You know? And also, what did the destruction, like, was the supervisor backed up somewhere? Right. Like, you know, well, the supervisor will take over for the, you know, we'll re-download them and the great work will begin anew. Yeah. Like, you know, like, what happens to this planet? Yeah.

[00:06:39] Because, like, they're going to find out, like, well, there was, you know, there was the fall of the Jedi. There was the fall of the Empire. There's Luke Skywalker out there. Like, I mean, there's all sorts of stuff that they kind of are going to kind of find out. Yeah. That it's kind of going to be like a smack in the face to them. Yeah. You know? Yeah. I don't know. That's what, but that's what I found interesting. Like, I mean, I did it, like, I think overall, like, as a series, I enjoyed it. It was fun. Right.

[00:07:08] That's exactly what I wanted it to be. Yeah. It was just fun. Like, what does this mean in the overall scape of Star Wars lore? Well, absolutely nothing. Like, did the tale have to be told? No, not really. But it's fun. Yeah. You know? And God forbid we should just have a little bit of fun. Right. You know? Not everything has to be connected. Like, Marvel's kind of, like, driven that into us that everything's connected. Yeah.

[00:07:38] Everything's connected. Like, does it really have to be? Yeah. I mean, I appreciate that it was a separate story. I just didn't like the kid aspect of it so much. It just kind of, it came across as real whiny to me. Yeah. It was hard for me to get past. No, I understand that. Yeah. Like, I mean, I get that complaint and I understand it. I think it was just, I kind of forgave that. Yeah.

[00:08:09] Because, again, I'm looking at it from the standpoint of, they probably would be whiny. Yeah. No, I get it. Yeah. I mean, you know what I mean? Like, it's like, well, this isn't how things are like at home. Well, you're not at home anymore. You're in the big old galaxy. The big old galaxy is a whole lot more dangerous. Like, Joe tells a great speech at the end of, like, you know, the galaxy is not fair. Right.

[00:08:35] You know, there's pinpoints of good, but it's not a good place. You know, there's more bad than there. There's a lot of good in this. Like, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Jude Law's performance was. Like, I would like to see his character show up somewhere else. Yeah. Almost. Like, you know what I mean? Like, I think that's what would be interesting to me. I think overall. Like I said, it was just, it was a fun story.

[00:09:05] I'm glad they told it. You know, if there's a season two, great. If not, I'm, you know. Right. I'm not going to be bummed out by that, but I enjoyed what I watched. Okay. Yeah. That's all. I mean, I enjoyed it for the most part. Yeah. Just got kind of bogged down with it. I get that. I got your, your, I feel your, your criticism is valid. I'm not trying to invalidate it. Yeah. I'm just trying to like, well, this is how I kind of got past it. Yeah.

[00:09:35] You know, cause, cause I agree with you. Like the kids were whiny, but like, I just kind of like, okay, whatever. Let's just move on. Like the story, the story was good enough that I could get past it. Yeah. At my point. I guess. Yeah. What else have you been watching? I watched a couple of movies this week. Not good. Really? Yeah. Well, first off, I'll start with it. I did watch season two of C. Okay.

[00:10:04] With Jason Momoa. And the second season had Dave Bautista as the main villain. Okay. And it was very good. Okay. It was a very good season. I enjoyed the heck out of it. I'm looking forward to watching season three. Cool. But then this week I watched Gladiator 2. I heard that was ridiculous. Woo! Woo! Oh, man.

[00:10:34] Like, and I even, because I even heard it was bad. Yeah, yeah. And I had, so I set low expectations. And it didn't even clear those low expectations. It went under that. Like, I was just like, what the fuck is happening in this movie? And to make matters worse, and this pains me to say it. Right. I mean, it hurts me.

[00:11:03] Deep in my soul. I think Ridley Scott's lost his fastball. Yeah? Yeah. Really? I do. Like, I do. Like, I hate saying that. You know what I mean? I love Ridley Scott. I will watch anything the man's made. Right. I mean, I'll watch commercials the man made. You know? Uh-huh.

[00:11:25] It's, but like, watching this, and I don't believe it was butchered in the editing process. I mean, there were some moments where you're like, man, he's shooting the shit out of this. This looks phenomenal. And there were other moments where I'm like, what the fuck? This doesn't even look like a Ridley Scott movie. I heard about the sharks. Oh! Oh!

[00:11:55] That whole, I mean, that whole sequence is so fucking bad. So, so fucking bad. And it, like, I mean, I was just like, what? And they're like, are there sharks? Is that a shark? That's a fucking, no. I mean, I, ugh. It hurts me to, like, say I hated this movie, but I hated this fucking movie.

[00:12:25] Yeah. The acting wasn't good either. I will say this, like, like, part of the problem is, like, like, the emperors were fucking idiots. Like, which I get, like, you could get that out of a Roman emperor. Like, that makes sense to me. But, like, there was no depth to them.

[00:12:47] Like, the great thing about, like, the first movie was at least Joaquin Phoenix's character had depth. Right. Like, these two are just idiots. Okay. You know what I mean? Like, there's nothing to them whatsoever. Right. Um, the main character, you know, the son of Maximus, he was okay.

[00:13:18] Yeah. Like, like, like, I would have been okay if it was just his story. Okay. But it's not. And, like, you got Denzel Washington, who's just, like, chewing scenery. Yeah. And, like, just, like, being as over the top as possible. And, again, the character very well may have been written that way.

[00:13:47] He may have decided to play it that way. I don't know. Who am I to question Denzel Washington? But, like, that whole storyline with his character, excuse me, his character and everything that was involved with it, I was just like, what the fuck? What is this? Right. Like, it just, it spirals out of control and it kind of wastes Pedro Pascal. Like, which is a sin. Yeah. Like, how do you waste Pedro Pascal? Right.

[00:14:15] But it did, you know, and it just, it wasn't a very good movie. I hate to say that, but it wasn't good at all. Like, there's not a, I can't think of a single redeeming factor in this movie. Right. I don't know. I probably won't watch it. I would not recommend that you do.

[00:14:35] Honestly, like, I mean, it's very rare for me to say this, but, like, it's like, out of respect for Ridley Scott, I would say don't watch this. Wow. Because I don't want you to remember Ridley Scott this way. Okay. What else did you watch?

[00:15:03] The other thing I watched that was released this week was the Section 31 movie. Okay. With, um, what's your name? Yeah. It's fucking awful. Really? It was fucking horrible. Really? It was. It was so fucking bad. I'm shocked. So was I. Huh.

[00:15:33] Because, like, I had high hopes for this. Yeah. And, I mean, it was fucking awful. Huh. That's a shame. It was. Like, I felt horrible. Because I've liked everything that Trek has done recently since, you know, Discovery. Like, this new iteration of Trek. Mm-hmm. And they've done some amazing things with Discovery and Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks.

[00:16:02] Like, there's been some great stuff that they've done. But this. This is a steaming pile of shit. Wow. It is that fucking bad. Huh. And I am disappointed because, like, when they said they were going to do a Section 31 movie and maybe a TV show, I was like, oh, I could get into that. Yeah. That would be very interesting to me. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:16:30] And this is a steaming pile of shit that I, like, if you're a Trek fan, this goes so far away from what Star Trek is. And I understand it. And I'm not a diehard, like, this is what Trek should be. I want it to be fun and adventurous. And I think Discovery did that. I think Strange New Worlds has done that. You know, the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies did that. Mm-hmm.

[00:17:00] Like, it got a little bit away from, you know, what the great bird thought Star Trek should be. Yeah. But at the same time, it was more palatable to the masses. This, but it's still, like, I feel like every one of those things at its heart still believed in what. Ray Bradbury. Ray Bradbury. Yeah. Not Ray Bradbury. I know. Go ahead. Yeah. But what he held. Roddenberry. Roddenberry. Thank you.

[00:17:30] What he held dear. Like, at its heart, it still kind of had all that. Yeah. But this, I mean, this is, like, way far, which I'm fine with, but then it just, it stinks. Yeah. Like, the story is, like, and the shame of it is, is, like, there's, like, parts of it where you're like, okay, yeah, this could be pretty good. And then, like, it's like, what the fuck?

[00:17:59] And, like, at the end of it, and the worst part, the worst part of all. Okay. At the end of it, you get a cameo from Jamie Lee Curtis. Oh, come on. Now, I love Jamie Lee Curtis. Yeah. Love her. Like, I would still crush on her just a tad, if you will. Like, she's a damn fine-looking woman. Amazing actress.

[00:18:29] But, like, putting her in this turd offended me. Really? Like, it really did. Like, I was, like, I felt sorry for Jamie Lee Curtis. Oh, wow. You know, like, oh, honey, you deserve better. You know, this is horrible. Who put you up to this? Yeah. Who did you owe money to? Because it, I mean, and I hate saying that because, I mean, like, I had such high expectations for this.

[00:18:58] And, whew, again. And badness. Badness. Huh. That's a shame. It is. That was, like, my Thursday and Friday. Oh, you know. You'll never get that time. No. Like, Thursday night, I got done with work. I went downstairs. I'm, like, all excited. I'm going to sit down and, you know, watch Trek. Or, I'm going to watch Gladiator.

[00:19:29] And, you know, that's, like, two and a half hours long, by the way. And at the end of it, I was just, like, that's what I was looking forward to? You know. And Saturday, again, done with work. Go downstairs. Going to watch Section 31. It's only an hour and a half. But by the time I was done with that, I was just, like, wow, this is a fucking waste of my fucking time. Right. Like, I put off watching The Night Agent.

[00:19:58] To watch, like, season two of The Night Agent. I know. I saw that. Yeah. I put that off so I could watch those two movies. Yeah. And, man, I wish I hadn't done that. Right. You know. That's my next week. I'm watching The Night Agent. I'll have a review for you next week of The Night Agent. Oh, nice. Yeah. Because I need something to cleanse my palate after those two turns. Right. Right. You know. Oh, shame.

[00:20:28] It is. So disappointed. So, you been watching anything other than Skull and Crew? No. That's it for me. That's it for you? Yeah. All right. Well, did you hear the big news in the world of cards? Cards? Yes. No.

[00:21:03] Last, maybe it was November. I can't remember when. Okay. Tops announced they were releasing a one-of-one Paul Skeen's autographed debut patch card. Okay. Okay. And this, of course, sent the card, you know, the physical card world in a tizzy.

[00:21:33] Okay. Baseball card collectors were just like, oh, my goodness. Now, for those who don't know, Paul Skeen's, he was a rookie pitcher last year for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He won the National League Rookie of the Year. He is a once-in-a-generational talent. And he traded him. Not yet. I'm just kidding. Yeah. Not yet. That's in a couple years. Yeah. But he is a once-in-a-generational talent. Like, you don't see players like this very often, if ever. Mm.

[00:22:00] And, like, the fact that he's in Pittsburgh is heartbreaking because, like, he's going to – because you're going to end up watching him win a championship somewhere else. Yeah. You will. You know. But right now he's in Pittsburgh, and when he pitches, you should enjoy it. So, anyway, Tops announced they're releasing this card. So, apparently, this week, the card has been found. Okay.

[00:22:25] Now, when Tops announced they were releasing the card, the Pirates put out a tweet or a message basically saying that if you find this card, we will give you – if you give it to us, we will give you two Pirates season tickets behind home plate for the next 30 years. Wow. Wow.

[00:22:49] A meet-and-greet with Paul Skeens, two Paul Skeens autographed jerseys, a softball game for 30 at PNC Park with coaching from Pirates alumni, a private tour of Pirates City and LaCom Park, which is the spring training home of the Pirates and their spring training field. And you get to watch a pirate game with Livvy Dunn in her private suite.

[00:23:19] Now, based upon that glazed-over look on your face at that last – Yeah. Livvy Dunn is Paul Skeens' girlfriend. Okay. But she is also a gymnast down at LSU. Okay. And she apparently has a massive Instagram following or something. Okay. She's like an influencer now, I guess. Plus with name, image, and likeness and stuff like that. So, it's apparently a big deal that you would get to watch a game with her.

[00:23:49] Okay. Okay. I'm like, whatever. So, that's what the Pirates are offering. And the kid or the family of the kid turned it down. They're going to sell it at auction. Okay. Which makes sense. Yeah. Like, I mean – Where was it released? It was found in California. Of course it was. Yeah. It was an 11-year-old kid in California that opened the pack. Yeah. So, it's one of those things like –

[00:24:20] I guess if you were looking at this, like, first off, why would you want season tickets to the Pirates for 30 years? Yeah. Like, honestly. Yeah. I live in Pittsburgh and I wouldn't want those. You know? Like, what are you – are you sending me to hell? Is this purgatory? Mm-hmm. Like, you know. But the other stuff, like, I can see, like, if you were to come for a one-time visit, get to meet Paul Skeens.

[00:24:48] If you were – I mean, obviously, if you're opening packs like this to get, like, this card, you're a fan of baseball. Yeah. You know? So, like, that stuff I could kind of see. But, yeah, so the kid – the 11-year-old collector and his family have decided to sell the Paul Skeens' one-of-one rookie debut patch autograph card at auction.

[00:25:23] So, of course, the family immediately had it, you know, slabbed. Oh, yeah. And graded. Yeah. So, it's – it's a 10. Yeah. I mean, like, they probably, like – the second they saw that, they immediately got rubber gloves. Yeah. They were handling that thing. Yeah.

[00:25:47] You know, but – so, I – my question to you is, as a card collector, number one, if for whatever reason you would have, you know, had that card, what would you have done? Auction. Auction, okay. Graded and auctioned. Okay. Slabbed and auctioned. Yeah.

[00:26:10] I guess my other question would be, like, as a card collector, like, maybe not that, like, that kind of rarity, but is there for you, like, a white whale out there that, like, you'd think, like, eh, I'd probably maybe drop a couple hundred dollars. Like, for that really special card. Is that out there for you? Okay. Um, there's three cards that I want.

[00:26:41] Okay. Um, that – that I'll never have. Yeah. That's it. Um, being – I want the Michael Jordan rookie card. Okay. Um, I want – I want a Mary Lemieux rookie card, which I do not have. Okay. Which, that's more feasible. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I have everybody else's rookie. I just don't have Mary's. Yeah.

[00:27:10] And I'd like a Terry Bradshaw rookie card. Okay. Which is probably much harder to get. Yeah. I can't – I can't afford that. But an LMU rookie I can maybe one day get. Yeah. I would just take – I would take a five. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, I just want the rookie. Yeah. You just want it to want it. Yeah. Yeah. But my other Steeler cards – if I had ever had opportunity, like, I'd have to win a raffle or something. Right.

[00:27:40] But I'd want the – I'd want the Bradshaw rookie high rated. Because the rest of my Steeler cards are pretty – yeah. Pretty good. Yeah. Like Miami and Joe Green. Like, all my rookie cards are – yeah. What do you call them? Franco Harris rookies. Yeah. They're all good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You've seen them. Yeah. They're in good shape. You keep – yeah. But I'd like to get that Bradshaw rookie. That's my white wheel.

[00:28:09] The Bradshaw, the Mario, and the Jordan rookie. So what would a – Just because Jordan, I watched some of those games. Good guy. But, so, like, out of curiosity, like, what is a Bradshaw rookie going for now? Ugh. I can look it up. Thousands. Thousands? Really? Ugh. Not – Not like –

[00:28:41] Not like a Jordan rookie. Right. Of course. But Bradshaw rookie, trying to find a reputable. You know what I mean? Yeah.

[00:29:09] Not like – Here's a 6.5 on Amazon. I don't know if that's the real deal. Going for 6.25. That's at a 6.5. Yeah. But the 8s and 9s are going for much higher. You know what I mean? Yeah.

[00:29:46] Okay. The most valuable card of Terry Bradshaw is currently the 1971 Tops. Mm-hmm. 156. Terry Bradshaw PSA 9. That's a 9. Yeah. By Tops from 1971 is worth approximately $25,000. That's for a 9. Yeah. I'd settle for a 5. Right. I can't say that.

[00:30:14] I'd want the best one, but you know what I mean? Yeah. But I would probably settle for a 5. Just to have the rookie card. Yeah. Because I don't have the rookie card. You know what I mean? Right. But – I don't know. You? It was a card I used to have. Okay. It is a 1991 upper deck Michael Jordan taking batting practice. Mm.

[00:30:43] And he took batting practice for the White Sox as a charity event. Mm. Now, the White Sox I think are still owned by the Reinsdorf family, which also owns the Bulls. Yeah. So, 1991 he does this one-off where he's taking batting practice for the White Sox. Sure. And they made a card and somehow I got it.

[00:31:12] And I immediately knew like, well, this is a special card. So, I put it in plastic and everything and like – This – like I'm looking at like on eBay, the card as a 10 in a slab. Sure. $2,100. Yeah, that's in a slab. Yeah. Now, I am finding it also like, you know, there's one on Etsy like in like thin plastic. Yeah. For the 75. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know.

[00:31:42] So, I mean, the card is gettable. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's feasible to get. Yeah. But at auction, it is a very popular card. And that's one I kind of wish I had. Like, because all my cards were stolen. Yeah. I don't know if I've told that before on the podcast. But like all my – like I had a big collection of football. It was mostly football, but I had some baseball. I had some hockey and some basketball.

[00:32:12] Not nearly as big as what you have now. Yeah. But I had a nice collection. And I had a Montana rookie. I had a Troy Aikman rookie. I had a Derek Brooks rookie. I had a Warren Moon rookie. Like, I had like some big name rookies. And tops and a couple others.

[00:32:41] Like, I was one starting lineup stuff. I had a bunch of stuff. But anyway. But somebody broke into my storage unit and stole only my cards. Yeah. Like, if all the stuff that was in there, it was like somebody had to know what they were going for because that's all they stole. Yeah. It was my cards. And it pisses me off to this day that I, like, I lost those cards. Um, but. Like that.

[00:33:11] And I had. I mean. And it's irreplaceable. Only for this reason. The. I think it was. Starting lineup. Mm-hmm. They released these cards. Bill's like all. It was a quarterback collection. Yeah. It was like a. Like a. A 10 card collection of quarterbacks. Yeah. But it was all like. I can't remember what the series was called. But it was like. There was a picture of the quarterback. And then, like, behind them was like. Like a. With Warren Moon. It was like a full moon. And, like. Like somebody else had, like.

[00:33:40] Like a jet fighter behind them. Like. Like. It was like a. Like a themed collection of something. I can't remember what it was called. But I had a Jim Kelly one. Mm-hmm. And. When my dad. Worked at LaRoche College. He worked with Jim Kelly's aunt. Okay. And. She asked, like. Is your son a fan? And my dad's like. My son's a fan of football. Yeah. You know. She's like. Well. If he has anything he wants Jim to sign. When they're in town.

[00:34:10] For. Like. They were playing the Steelers that year. On Monday Night Football. I can get Jim to sign it for him. Oh. That's cool. So I got this card signed. Mm-hmm. And. Then later on. Jim. Mr. Kelly. He sent me like. It was like a golf shirt. From his. Charity golf tournament. And. There was a couple other things. That. I had. I think I may still have some of it. Stashed away somewhere. Mm-hmm. But the card. Again. Like. I had this autographed Jim Kelly card. Yeah. You know. That. Like. One of one.

[00:34:41] Because it was. Like that. Odd. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like. I had that card with Cole. Yeah. And I thought. Well. I had. Jim Kelly signed it. It would be awesome. And. Like. Gone. Yeah. You know. So. That sucks. Yeah. But like. I. Like if it was ever like a white. A white whale. Right. Like. That you. I'd want to collect. Yeah. You know. It's.

[00:35:12] I get. I don't think it would be a card though. Because like. I'm so far out of cards. You know what I mean. Like. It would probably be like a. A Dan Marino football. A Dan Marino football. Yeah. No. I'm just kidding. Um. No. Like. I would love to go back. And. Like. They don't even need to be on card. Just like. Like the original Star Wars figures. Oh. Yeah. You know. Like.

[00:35:41] I thought about that. I thought about trying to get those again. The shit. Like. I don't even need to be in good condition. Like. Just as long as like Luke and. Obi-Wan and Darth have the. The. The retractable lightsaber in their arm. I'm happy. Yeah. You know. Cloak. If. They're beat to shit. I don't care. Like. I didn't. I just want to make sure I've got all the pieces to it. But. Like. That's what I would love to like. Go and find someday. Would be like. I'm sure somebody like. Oh. Sure.

[00:36:11] It's cheap. I mean. Yeah. Up. Yeah. Yeah. You know. I. I know it can be done. Like. There's a lot of like. Oddball things. Like. I've always wanted. I think I said this on the podcast once. I've always wanted to go. And collect. All the ROM. Comic books. Yeah. From like. The original Marvel run. I think it was like. Three or four. Maybe five years of. Mm. Of books.

[00:36:41] I've always wanted to go back and collect those. Because I thought that would kind of like. It wouldn't be too difficult. And it's not like a massive thing. Right. You know what I mean? Like. It's only. 75 to 100 books. Mm. You know. So it's not. That big of a. Treasure hunt. Yeah. Yeah. Same thing with the. Like. Back in the 70s. Godzilla. Was in. Was. Done by Marvel Comics. I would love to go.

[00:37:10] And collect those individual issues. Yeah. Like that would be something kind of cool. Because again. I think I only ran for three or four years. It's not that big of a run. It shouldn't be. Like. That. Difficult to find those. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah. Like. I mean. It's. It's. One of my points. Like. It's a plausible. It's not like sitting there saying. Well. I want to collect every single detective comic. You know.

[00:37:39] There's over 800 issues. Like. You're never. You know. Yeah. Yeah. And some of those issues. You know. Going all the back to the 50s. You're never going to fucking find her. If you do. You know. You're paying out the ass for. Yeah. But like. The. Like. Those two. Always seemed more. Like a reasonable buy. Right. Like. That's why I liked. Like. I mean. It's only like two. Maybe three issues. But like the. The last starfighter. Yeah. Like. It was just.

[00:38:08] It was a three issue. Just because they did the movie. Yeah. You know. That was awesome. Like. You know. I guess. Like. Those three issues. Is like. Great to find. Yeah. I did the same thing with Blade Runner. I got the two. It was only two issues. Like. You know. But like. I've got them. They're mine. You know. So. I feel like. That way about. Just have. Yeah. That run. That'd be cool. That would.

[00:38:40] I gave away a lot of like. I can't think. Give them to your. Your girls. Majority of my comic books. Like the single issues. Yeah. But I kept everything. From the. The blackest night run in DC. Yeah. Like. Because I worked my ass off. At that time. To like. Find every single issue. And every single side issue. That may apply to something. Okay. You know. And. Like it was even like. Books I wasn't even reading. But if it said blackest night. On there.

[00:39:10] I grabbed it. Yeah. It's like. I have a doom patrol comic. Like at the time. I was like. I wasn't a doom patrol fan. Yeah. You know. It's involved with the blackest night. Taking it. Yeah. You know. So. Like. That is something like. And I do take great pride. Like I. God everything. Now. I mean. It's fucking worthless. Yeah. Yeah. But it's important. Yeah. Yeah. It is. And I've got every single issue of that. And. I always thought that was kind of the cool thing I did. Like I got. I got everything.

[00:39:41] Yeah. I felt that way for a while with. My. Signed photos. Yeah. For a while. Because I wanted to get all the. The heavy hitters. As far as. From horror. Yeah. Actually. Like I got. You know. The original Leatherface. Right. And I got. Michael Myers. And I got. What's his name from 13. Yeah. Kane Hutter.

[00:40:11] Yeah. Yeah. Which he's an easy one to get. But. I don't have England. But I do have the tall man. Yeah. And like other people. Like I got. I got. Vader. David Prowse's. Yeah. Yeah. That was big to me. Yeah. That was a big one. Yeah. I got David Prowse's signature too. That was. That was big to me too. I've got Anthony Daniels. I got Chewie. Peter Mayhew.

[00:40:42] Yeah. That was big for me. Because I like Chewbacca. Yeah. You know. Some of those other guys are just unattainable. Yeah. You can't get. No. Harrison Ford. No. There's not. You're not going to get it. But yeah. But I got. What's his name from The Last Dragon. Meaningless. To everybody else. Yeah. But to us. It was a big deal. Yeah. You were nervous that day. I was with you that day. You were like. Yeah. You were nervous. And it's weird. It's a terrible movie. It's a terrible movie that is. But it was just such part of our childhood. It is.

[00:41:11] You know what I mean. That movie is so fucking awful. Oh. It's terrible. Great. But it was part of our childhood. And that's why I got that photo. You know. There's a number of photos. Like when I met Mark Singer. Yeah. That was big. Yeah. And. Again. Another one you were nervous for. Very nervous. Yeah. But. You know. I was probably one of. That. One of my favorite movies of all time. Yeah. I got The Last Starfighter. I got his autograph. Yeah. Because that was one of my favorite movies. Yeah. You know what I mean. So.

[00:41:42] I. Searched and. You know. For those photos to. You know. To get those people to sign. Because. Not because of the value. Right. But they were important to me. As. A movie watcher. Right. Science fiction guy. Yeah. Horror guy. That I needed to have those. I needed to have them. Yeah. You know what I mean. You know what's an odd one. I've always wished I could have. Mm-hmm. It's. That final scene. And the credits are rolling.

[00:42:11] From Buckaroo Bonsai. Yeah. And they're all walking down the LA River Basin. Yeah. I'd love to have that picture. And everybody's signature. Yeah. Good luck. Yeah. I know. I mean. It's impossible. Yeah. I mean. Or. I could probably buy it. But I'm spending some cash. Right. You know. But like. That's what I mean. Like. I won't. Like. I'd kill. To have. A Michael J. Fox. And Christopher Lloyd. Signature on it. Back to the Future. Yeah.

[00:42:40] Because I love. I'll rephrase that. I love the first. Yeah. Back to the Future movie. Um. It was one of the best movies of all time. To me. I just absolutely loved it. But. I just. Could not pay that price. Yeah. For those autographs. I. There's just no way. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? No. I agree. I understand. I'm right there with you. And like. When I started doing this. When I started doing this. I mean. These photos were like.

[00:43:10] 20 bucks a piece. Yeah. They were nothing. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like I got. What's his name for Nightbreed? Yeah. Um. They played in The River Runs Through 2. Craig Schaefer. Yeah. Craig Schaefer. Yeah. I got his autograph. And it was like 25 bucks. You know. Like. The early ones that I got were pretty cheap. I think even Vader was like. $35. Yeah. David Prowse.

[00:43:39] When I first started doing this. Now it's like. Well over $100 for some of these photos. Or more. No. I. You know what I mean? No. I agree with you. And like. That takes the fun out of it. Oh. It does. You can. Even back then. You can say. Hey. Yeah. I'll throw 20. I'll throw 25. 30 bucks toward that. Yeah. That's. That's reasonable. I agree. But when you get up into like. Especially for a childhood hero. Yeah. But when you get into that. 100.

[00:44:09] 200 dollar range. You're like. Yeah. It kind of goes against. You being my hero anymore. And just taking my money. Yeah. You know what I mean? Right. Like. I get it. I mean. And I get it too. Like. It's like. You're there to make money. Yeah. Like. Obviously. Like. It's that weird thing of like. I. I. I understand. Like. You're charging me for your signature. Yeah.

[00:44:39] You know. And the 30 seconds we spend together. Right. Like. A prime example. Like when. When I took Nancy to go get Darby Allen's autograph. Oh. Like. You know. We got an 8x10. He signed it. And then. You know. Took a picture with him. 75 bucks. Yeah. For that. Yeah. And. You know. We. 30 seconds to talk to him. And I wasn't taking any more of his time. Because there's a line behind us. You know. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:45:08] So I wasn't going to be like. Which is what I hate. Like. I hate when people linger. Right. But I understand. You're trying to get your money's worth. Right. Especially if you're like. With somebody who's charging. 150 bucks an autograph. Yeah. You know. The sign 8x10. You know. It's like. I get it. Like you. But at the same time. Like. Be cognizant of like. There's a hundred people fucking behind you. Yeah. I know. You know. That you don't care about. But like. It is rough. It's kind of. It was.

[00:45:38] Between the crowd. And a Steel City Con. Mm-hmm. And the prices. Yeah. Which is funny. Because when we started this podcast. 10 years ago. We talked about like. How affordable that show was. Correct. And how we hope it expanded. Well it has expanded. Yeah. Like. The next show coming up. Here. Here are the. The top stars. Christopher Lloyd. Mm-hmm. Henry Winkler. Mm-hmm. Katie Sackhoff. Mm-hmm. Louise Guzman. Mm-hmm. John Cusack.

[00:46:08] Mm-hmm. Stephen Baldwin. Mira Servino. Mia Servini. Mario Lopez. And then. Tom. Tom Wilson. Who was. The bad guy in. The. Back to the Future movies. Yeah. And then. Alan Covert. Christopher. And Christopher McDaniel. Who like. If you're an Adam Sandler fan. Like that's like. Yeah. Yeah. You know.

[00:46:37] I want to go get Alan Covert's autograph. Just because of how much. I love Mama's Boy. Or Grandma's Boy. Yeah. That's. Underrated comedy. But anyway. Like. And when we started this podcast. 10 plus years ago. Right. Like it was like. The top get was Sulu. Yeah. You know. We were like. Wow. They got Sulu. Yeah. Holy shit. Yeah. Big one. Yeah. You know. So yes. I mean. They have expanded. And I'm happy for that.

[00:47:07] That their business expanded. But like. When you look at their pricing. And I'm. And I don't know how much. They have to do with that. And how much a celebrity has to do with that. But. Their autograph pricing is insane. Yeah. It is. And it's. It's almost like it's become. Not good. Yeah. Because I understand like. My understanding is like. The co-on has to pay the celebrity to come. Right. And then the celebrity. Like. And I don't know how much.

[00:47:37] Of a deal it is. Like. Okay. We get. X amount of money. Off. Off of your. Your booth. Yeah. You know. Like. I don't know how that works. But still like. It. I don't want to call it a racket. Kind of. But it has priced out like. Me. Yeah. Plus you pay $60 to come to the door. Yeah. That's where like.

[00:48:07] Back in the day. Like that was their selling point was. It was affordable to get in. Yeah. Like. It was like. You know. You could pay $30 to get into the. The Pittsburgh Comic Con. Or you can pay $10 to get in us. Yeah. And I was like. I have no problem paying that $10. Yeah. You know. But now. It is. It's a. I don't want to say high priced. I'm sure compared to like. New York or San Diego. It's. Hittins.

[00:48:36] But for. For what it is. For how crowded it is. For where it is. What the parking situation is. It's high priced. Yeah. I agree. I. I. And I. It's that thing of like. Well they probably need to move. They probably need to move to like the. The convention center downtown. Yeah. But then. Like you're not. You're not running.

[00:49:04] Three shows a year at the convention center. Right. Right. You know what I mean? Like that. That's the other problem. Yeah. And the biggest problem is there. There is no other major con. In this town. No. There's not. Like I know there's the. The three rivers con. Which is put on by the folks over at a new dimension comics. Right. But. They. And they. And to their credit. They lean more towards independent comics at that show. Yeah. They don't have celebrities. They have comic creators. Right.

[00:49:34] They have artists. They have writers. Like. And. I haven't been to that show in a couple of years. But when I. The. The last one I did go to. Like. It's a great show. Yeah. But it's small. For what it is. Which is. Again. What they're aiming for. Right. You know. They're not aiming. I mean. It's. It's not like Steel City Con at all. It's a. It's a nice con. But it's. It leans more towards comic books. Less towards celebrity. And the people. The celebrities that are there. Are like.

[00:50:05] Writers from like. Excalibur comics. Yeah. These off brand comics. That not. Not everybody reads. Yeah. I. Yeah. I mean. I've been to Comic Con too. But. I like the Steel City Con. I just. I just feel like they're. I just feel like. I. It's just not very affordable. It's not. Do you know what I mean? No. It's just. Not for some of the autos. And the only auto.

[00:50:35] Like. And you're right. When you go up and meet celebrities. It's cool. Because you know. Some celebrities sign. And. You know. That's it. They're done. You're right. I wanted. Christina Reese. Yeah. Yeah. Um. And mostly because of the Adams film. Yeah. Because that's. Yeah. She was Wednesday. Yeah. Yeah. And I love the Adams film. Yeah. You know. Anyway. So. Um.

[00:51:05] So I got hers. But she was kind of weird. I mean like. When you met her. Yeah. But when I met Muse. What a great guy. Yeah. And took time out with my kids. Yeah. Talked to my kids. Talked to me. Well there was that one guy. That really tiny horror con we went to. Great. Where we saw Muse. Yeah. That's where I got my. Jay and son of the Bob strikes back poster signed by him. Yeah. So I got him and Kevin Smith on that. But uh.

[00:51:35] What's his name from. Pinhead. Oh yeah. Um. He lives here now. Yeah. He lives here now. But yeah. Like he. He was there. I mean you guys were so excited to meet him. Mm-hmm. Lisa was pregnant with Ellie. Yeah. And you. You know. Like he's touching her belly. And I'm like. It's Pinhead. Don't let him do that. You know. That's where I met Bill Moseley too. Yeah. And he was a great guy. Yeah. But that was so small. There were so few people there. Like he took the time.

[00:52:05] Because there was nobody around. That he could take the time to spend. Yeah. 15 minutes with you. Right. You know what I mean? Yeah. And there was. And. And. That's the other side of it too. Like. There are some celebrities that don't have the big lines. Right. That can spend the time with you. But. That is so crowded. Yeah. For the people like walking through. That you. You feel like you need to move on. Right. You know what I mean? Well. I went to Indianapolis.

[00:52:35] Because they were doing a Terminator thing. Right. And we met Linda Hamilton. Right. That was a great experience. Right. Like she made the experience good. And she took time out with everybody. That's why her line moved so slow. Yeah. Because she was taking time with everybody. And you got a photo with her. Right. Do you know what I mean? And. That was a really cool. Experience. Yeah. Linda Hamilton was. Really cool. And like the time the girls went up to meet.

[00:53:04] Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus. Yeah. Up in Erie. They did a convention up there. Yeah. Small convention. Yeah. Before Norman. Before he got huge on The Walking Dead. He had just come on. Yeah. So it wasn't his crazy lines for him. Right. But I mean. Dude. They must have spent an hour with him. Yeah. And then they went outside. And they spent another half hour with him. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. And that was a good experience. Right. And that's what you look for.

[00:53:33] And some of these people. I just won't. Won't give them the time. Like Linda Blair. Would I love to have an auto from Linda Blair? Yeah. Yeah. But I'm not going to give her the time of day. Because she's such a jerk. Yeah. You know what I mean? Right. Or even Elvira. I was kind of pissed off at that one. Yeah. When her handler was like. Yeah. It would be like $85 for you to take her picture. I'm like. You can keep it. Yeah. I don't want it.

[00:54:04] I don't want the photo. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. Screw that. I think it is annoying that they charge for. Like the selfie. Right. You know. Like. Muse didn't. Muse just like take photo. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I swear to God. Yeah. We didn't pay for a photo with Muse. Yeah. I think I paid 20 bucks for him to sign my poster and that was it. Yeah. But when he had the girls there. Yeah. We had. You know. He signed the stuff. Yeah. He was like. Hey man. You want a photo?

[00:54:34] And like. He was. Yeah. You know. You know like cheesing and shit. Like he didn't care about any of that. Yeah. We didn't pay for the selfie. He just took it for some reason. Yeah. Which was a bonus. Yeah. You know. But. Like what's her name from weird science. I wanted to meet her. Yeah. Because that was from my childhood. Yeah. You know what I mean. So. If it many a sock. Yeah. But I mean like. I met. Like. I've met the people. Mostly.

[00:55:03] The only person I want to meet. That I can think of. Right. That I would really like to meet. That does autos. Right. Yeah. There's tons of people. That I want to meet. That don't do autographs. Right. But there. There's some that do. Yeah. I would love to meet Matthew Lillard. Yeah. Because I'm a big fan. Yeah. Like I like the stuff that he does. Right. He's fantastic. Yeah. Right. But. To think about it.

[00:55:33] That's really the only people that. A person that does cons. That. I really need to meet. I've met. Most all the great horrors. Yeah. That I need. Oh. England. I'd like to meet England. Yeah. The girls met him. I did not. But I would like to have an. A Freddie. Auto. I have thought about. Like with this con.

[00:56:02] I would like to get Katie Sackhoff's autograph. Yeah. That'd be cool. I. My love for her runs all the way back to. The Battlestar. Yeah. You know. Yeah. And. Like. Yeah. She's great in the Mandalorian. And she's playing one of my favorite characters in Bo-Katan. And. But. Like. If I was to get her autograph. It would be. Starbuck. Yeah. Yeah. You know. And. My conversation would be about BSG. Yeah. Yeah. Like. You know. Like. The 30 seconds I may get with her. It's going to be like.

[00:56:32] What was it like sitting in a Viper? Yeah. You know. Like. Like. Because that's the coolest thing in the fucking world to me. You sat in a fucking Viper. Yeah. Yeah. You know. She's just started doing it recently. She. She's done some. Some Battlestar stuff. But. She's always been a very interesting person. To me. Uh. Like. And. So. Like. To get like her autograph. Like. I've thought about. Like. Man.

[00:57:02] Maybe I'm going to like. Maybe. Do this. Yeah. Yeah. And like. There's a part of me. That's like. Yeah. No. You don't want to do that. But. Like. Like. Her. Um. Like. I want a Ric Flair autograph. I don't want to meet Ric Flair. No. He's. He's a bit of a jag off. You know. Uh. But I still love. Like. Like. I love old school Ric Flair. Yeah. I can go back and watch 80s Ric Flair.

[00:57:31] 90s Ric Flair. And be like. Yeah. That's the nature boy. That's the guy. Yeah. You know. But like. Meeting him today. He's a bit of a jag off. When I met. What's his name? Um. Played Apollo Creed. Oh. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:58:01] I met Carl Wilders. That was a good experience. Yeah. That was like a private experience. It was very weird. Yeah. Not weird. It was just a. He wasn't in the main hall. You had to take elevators up to a private. Yeah. Private area. Yeah. You know what I mean? But. That was cool. To meet him was. A good experience. Because. Again. One of my childhood heroes. Why Apollo Creed? I don't know. But. I loved Apollo Creed. I thought he was fucking bad.

[00:58:30] And I thought he was badass the way he acted. Looking. As I watch the movies now. Oh yeah. He did well. As Apollo Creed. As a top prize fighter. There's that scene in Rocky 2. Yeah. Where he's talking about. Like we need to get. Um. Rocky. To. You know for a. Like. Rocky's like. I don't want to fight. Another fight. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And he's like. I need this fight. And he's telling his people. And the guy who's his trainer. Is like.

[00:58:59] He's all wrong for us baby. Like there's a. It's a great scene. And Carl Weathers is like. You don't think I could take him. You don't think I could take him. Yeah. Yeah. You know. He's like. That man took a beating. And kept coming. Yeah. That's a great scene. It is. It's a great scene. Like. Like Carl Weathers was an underrated actor. Like. I thought so. Yeah. Yeah. You know. He. The dude could act. Yeah. But. Yeah. Oh. I can imagine like. I was geeked. I could.

[00:59:29] I could imagine. Like. I felt the same way. And it was like. There was that time. Where. They closed down. The Expo Mart. Uh huh. And they hadn't opened. The Monroeville Convention Center yet. Yeah. Steel City Con was actually being held. At like a. An indoor soccer facility. Uh huh. Out in. Um. Parmerville. Okay. Okay. Like. I had to drive all the way down.

[00:59:59] And like. Down. This dirt road. Yeah. To get to this. This facility. And I went there because they had. Anthony Daniels. And I got his autograph there. At that time. But also. Mick Foley. Okay. And. Like. I love Mick Foley. Yeah. You know. For those who don't know. Mick Foley. Mankind. And the WWE. Cactus Jack. Like. He was a professional wrestler. But I. I was following his career. From like. When he first broke in.

[01:00:28] Down in Texas. Yeah. Like. I remember he was part of. Adnar Skadbar's. Army. Yeah. You know. And he was just a madman. And so. Like. I got his autograph. Mm. And. I was just like. It's a rare occasion. But I completely. Fanboyed out. Yeah. And I was just like. I've been following you since 1988. When you showed up in Texas. And he looked at me. He's like. Wow. That was a long time ago.

[01:00:58] I'm like. Yes sir. I've always thought you were fantastic. Yeah. Yeah. Like. I'm a 37 year old man. And like. All of a sudden. I've got like. My voice hit puberty. Yeah. You know. I'm like. Oh my goodness sir. You were amazing. And it's like. No. And the worst part about this is. There's nobody behind me. So I could have had like a. Probably a 10 to 20 minute conversation with him. And he signed his thing like. Thank you very much sir. I appreciate it.

[01:01:28] And went on my way. Yeah. Yeah. Because I was so. Like. And it's rare. Yeah. And I get like that star struck. But like. For some reason. I did with him. And like. I could have had that moment that you've had. With so many others. But like. For some reason. My brain was just like. No. I talked to. I talked to Craig Schaefer about fishing. Yeah. Not Nightbreed. Which I should have been talking about. No. I'm talking fishing. Talking about fishing in Montana. Yeah. And like. I met. What's her name from.

[01:02:00] Chasing Amy. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You got me her autograph. I was just. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She was cool. Yeah. She was all about Ellie. Because Ellie was a peewee. Yeah. But yeah. We've met some really cool people. Gar Hansen was cool. Yeah. Twins. Really cool. Yeah. Like. I can't believe I was introducing him. I mean.

[01:02:30] It's like. Here are these guys. You know. Yeah. He was all really cool. Like really nice guy. What's his name? Candyman. He was really cool. Yeah. Yeah. Pinhead when he's like. The twins. Yeah. Are they identical? I'm like. That was sinister. Yeah. That was pretty fucking sinister. Singer was cool. And the tall man was cool. Yeah. He was. He was. Really cool. Like.

[01:02:59] I didn't want to push it with him. Yeah. Yeah. I was going to keel over right there. I mean. He was old when I saw him. Yeah. And. But he was really cool. Yeah. It was like. Because that was. That one was for me. It was. Yeah. I mean. That. That photo was for me. Yeah. I mean. Not photo. But that. Yeah. That moment. That auto. Yeah. That was. That was important. Because. You know. I like Phantasm. But.

[01:03:27] That was almost a Michael Myers moment. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah. Um. And he was like. Well. How about the whole family? Come on in. Yeah. I'm like. You're all going to hell. Yeah. And he ganged in around them and stuff. You know. Play a good game boy. It was cool. It was so good. I. I. That was a good show. It was a good show. But. I don't know. We've been to some cool places. Just. Um.

[01:03:58] But yeah. I just kind of got out of the auto game. When it got. It got so expensive. Yeah. Like. When we first started that journey. Like I said. It was cheap. Yeah. Not cheap. But. You can easily go to a show. And get two or three autographs. And not break your bank. Yeah. Exactly. At all. No. You're. You're 100% right. Like. If I. I can remember going to Comic Con. Yeah. Comic Con. In New York. Not this past time I went. But the time.

[01:04:27] I remember that time I went with Jared. Yeah. Where we were doing this show then. Yeah. And. I had a chance to get Carrie Fisher's autograph for 75 bucks. Yeah. And that was worth it. Yeah. 75 bucks back then was worth it. Yeah. That was worth the trip. To Comic Con. But that's also. Comic. That's also New York Comic Con. And. I would expect the price. I would expect a higher price there. Way higher. Right. I would expect a higher price at San Diego. He was one of the cheaper ones. Right. Like. Emerald Con.

[01:04:57] And. Up in Portland. I would probably expect a higher price. Like. There are cons where I would say like. Yes. These would be. A higher price. Because of the status of the con. Right. Right. So. But. Like. For this. Like. Here's the thing. Like. If I. If I go to get Katie Sackhoff's autographs. That's the only one I'm getting. Right. No. I know. I get it. You know what I mean? Like. That's it. Like. Maybe I buy a couple of figures or something. I'm getting. Yeah. I only go. If I go in. I'm going for usually one. Yeah. It's like one specific person.

[01:05:27] You know. And what sucks is like. Like. When we went for Darby. He was the original kid. In. What? Oh God. I can't think of his name. What kid? What movie? Vacation. Oh. Anthony Michael Hall. Anthony Michael Hall.

[01:05:57] Yes. He. Who Nancy adores. Uh. To this day. Adores. Anthony Michael Hall. If Michael Anthony Hall is in something. She will watch it. Yeah. Just because of her love of Anthony Michael Hall. And he was like. Across the way. But. It was like. Do you want Darby Allen? Or do you want Anthony Michael Hall? Which line. And in all honesty. Her. Her fragile. You know. Starstruck. Mind.

[01:06:27] Could have only handled one anyway. Yeah. Like. So you had to pick one. She chose Darby. Um. Which was great. Because I got to tell Darby. On my favorite. What my favorite match was. Yeah. You know. Where it was Michael Anthony Hall. I would have had like. Yeah. I loved you. You know. 16 candles. You know. When you. I love the underwear. Fantastic. Yeah. But. So.

[01:06:56] So yeah. I mean. It's a. It's a racket. It's. And it's tough. Because like. I want to support my favorite celebrity. But at the same time. I don't want to go broke. Right. You know. So. Anyway. Anyway. Let's see. I think Superfan Thad had. Nothing to say. Okay. Uh.

[01:07:32] Ha ha. Fuck TikTok. I'm glad the government is shutting that stupid shit down. Well. I hate to break it to you. They brought it back. Yeah. The 10 hour ban was lifted. Right. Um. When are we meeting up? Will you get off your ass. Sean. And make a date in time. Everyone will come. Just pick a fucking day. Before you know it. Episode 700 will be here. Well. That might be when we do it. Maybe. Yep.

[01:08:02] So. Eat a bag of dicks. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's not much there. To read. Uh. So. Tomorrow. Two big. The NFC and AFC championship game. Who do you think is going to have the Super Bowl in? Um. I think it's going to be Casey Philly.

[01:08:33] I. I don't know if the Bills can beat Casey. Casey. I don't know. I. I would. I would love to see it be. Buffalo and Philly. Yeah. That'd be good. Yeah. Um. But. I. I. I.

[01:09:04] The Chiefs are still the Chiefs until they're not the Chiefs. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. Patrick Mahomes is still Patrick Mahomes. It'd be cool to see a Washington guy though. It would. I mean. That would be. A Cinderella story of epic proportions. Yeah. You know like. That would be amazing. Um. Like I told. Like I told you when we were eating. Like I just. I think Saquon Barkley is just. Too dominant. Yeah. Like I think. Even if it's the Chiefs going for the three-peat in the Super Bowl. Like.

[01:09:33] Unless they are calling. Holding on the. On the Eagles. Every fucking play. You cannot stop Saquon Barkley. Like. Like Derrick Henry on the Steelers. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. But that's what he's done. All year. Yeah. Like. Darylton Hurts has been a better quarterback. Because he has Saquon Barkley in the backfield. Yeah. Like you know what I mean. Like. It. There. It's not. I saw somebody say.

[01:10:02] You're not surprised that Jalen Hurts wins. But you're surprised when they. Because of Jalen Hurts they win. Yeah. Like. He's just a. Okay quarterback. Right. He's not a great quarterback. He's not. The guy who's going to lead the charge. But when you've got a horse like Saquon. Yeah. Like. He's unstoppable. I don't think the Chiefs defense. And the Chiefs defense is very good. I don't think they can stop him. Like. If it's Buffalo and Philadelphia. Josh Allen is going to have to throw.

[01:10:32] 80 times. And throw six touchdown passes. Right. Because he is going to go through that defense. Like it is. Butter. Yeah. You know. So. I'm hoping. Even though I am hoping for like. It's that weird thing. Like. I just. I just want Buffalo. To win. Right. Like. Having lived through the four. The four Super Bowls. With Buffalo. Right. Like you know. And now. Like here's their fourth shot at the Chiefs. And it's like. Yeah. They. They can't do that again. Can they?

[01:11:02] Like. They can't lose four times in a row. Right. You know. But. They might. Right. You know. It. It. I think my heart's with Buffalo. Only because like. It's that thing of like. I want to see. That team get over the hump. Right. You know. Josh Allen deserves the ring. Um. The. The city of Buffalo. Deserves that championship. You know. Like I said. I.

[01:11:32] I lived through those four. Four years of misery with Buffalo. And I've always felt sorry for them. It's like. They are so fucking good. And when they get to the brightest lights. They shit their pants. Right. You know. And especially like against. Like. They. They. That team was better. Than the Giants. Right. They were just out coached. That team was better than Washington. They just shit the bed. And.

[01:12:02] They were probably as good as Dallas. And again. They just shit the bed. Right. It was like. You just watched them implode. And it was like. Wow. You know. That's. That's hard to do. Right. So my. I hope. My heart always goes out to them. Because it's like. I get it. Like. You know. I understand it. Right. You know. It. It can't be easy. It can't be easy being that good. In every other game. But that one. Yeah. You know. And.

[01:12:31] The talent that they had. And like. I mean. Like. You sit there. You say. Well. The NFC. Was clearly a superior conference. And you're probably right. But. I mean. They ran through. Everybody. Yeah. Like. The Steelers were good then. The Raiders were good then. The. You know. There. There were a number of good teams. Back then. You know. The Jets were pretty good. The. The Dolphins had. You know. Marino at that time.

[01:13:01] Denver with Elway. Like. There were good teams. In the AFC. And they just. Destroyed. Everybody. Yeah. You know. But then they get to the brightest stage. And. Shit the bed. Yeah. So like. It's that thing. Like. If they get there. I want them to win. Right. Because like. It's. It's. That's a tough thing to. Like. For. Like. People who are still alive from that time.

[01:13:30] Who are going to be like. Oh. Here we go again. Yeah. You know. Fuck. Yeah. I mean. There are teams like. People forget. Minnesota. Went to four Super Bowls in the 70s. Yeah. Lost all four. Yeah. You know. And haven't been back since. Yeah. Like. I can't imagine what that's like. I can't imagine being Miami. Like. You haven't been to a Super Bowl since 1984. Right. You know. Like. You had Dan Marino. Yeah.

[01:14:01] Like. I thought for sure he was going to get to like. Two or three more. Win one. Maybe two. Yeah. Like. You know. Didn't ever go back. Right. They haven't come close. No. You know. I mean. Let alone like. The Lions. I feel horrible for the Lions. Yeah. Like. If you're a Detroit fan. This was your year. Yeah. This was. Man. We are cooking. And then like. To just shit the bed against the commanders like you did. Yeah. Like. Wow.

[01:14:33] Wow. You know. Yeah. That had to have hurt. Oh yeah. You know. But like. I think to myself. Well. The Tigers have won a couple of World Series. And you know. The Red Wings were certainly dominant in the 90s. In the early 2000s. I don't feel that bad for Detroit. Right. You know. But. If you're a Lions fan. It's tough. Like. You know. Oh. It is. Yeah. It's just exciting that they're getting hyped about their team again.

[01:15:03] Right. But. Because like. They've been awful for so fucking long. Yeah. Like. Oh I know. Like. I mean. They had a couple of bright moments when they had. You know. Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford. But nothing that you thought like. Oh yeah. This is the Lions year. Like. You thought this was the Lions year. Yeah. Like. I was watching that team play. And it was like. Even with all their injuries. You're like. How are they still this fucking dominant? Yeah. Yeah. Like.

[01:15:31] And the wheels came off finally. Yeah. But. Bad time. Yeah. But I mean like. That's. That's the other hurt more than anything. Where you thinking. This is it. Destiny is on our side. Everything's lined up for us. Yeah. Here we go. And then the just like. Yeah. Crap out like that. It's got to hurt. Oh yeah. You know. Oh. I know it does. It's happened to the Steelers quite a few times. Yeah. You know. I've.

[01:16:01] Not even in this past like. Eight. Six. Eight years. Whatever it is. Since they've won a playoff game. Like. I can think back to like. When the. The Steelers lost to the Chargers in the AFC Championship game. Yeah. Like. They had home field advantage. They were the best team in football. Like. And. Neil O'Donnell and company. Hmm. Couldn't pull the trigger at the end. Yeah. Like. You know. I was like. Fuck. And like.

[01:16:30] As a part of me is like. Man. I'm kind of glad we didn't. Because. San Francisco was a buzzsaw. Yeah. And also the part of me is like. I just feel this defense would have put that buzzsaw down. Yeah. You know. You know. A little bit like. So. Like. Stuff like that. Like. The year. And even though it was Cordell. Like. The year they. Denver came to town. Hmm. Cordell went from being. You know. The MVP to. You know. Being Cordell. Yeah. Yeah. Oh man. Like Tony Romo. Spitting on him.

[01:17:01] Yeah. Not Tony Romo. Bill Romanoski. That was it. Yeah. Like. Just spitting on Cordell Stewart. And everything. Oh. This is horrible. Right. This is the worst. So. Yeah. I know those feelings. I know those feelings all too well. Right. The AFC Championship game in 1984. Against the Dolphins. Yeah. That was like the. That. That was like the Chuck Knoll Steelers last gasp. Yeah. Because that. That was still like. I think Blunt was still playing.

[01:17:31] Donnie Schell. Lambert. Lambert. Ham. Like. There were. Still pieces of like the 70s defenses. Yeah. There. And you thought. Yeah. This. One more time. Yeah. One more time for the Emperor. Here we go. Yeah. Yeah. Old Dan Marino was like. This is what you get for don't drafting me. Oh fuck. Can you imagine Dan Marino? No. Because I don't think Chuck Knoll would have used him right. No.

[01:18:03] No. Like. I mean. Like. That was the thing. Like. If you look at Don Shola. Yeah. Don. Like. The 70s. Dolphins. Were like. Run. Run. Run. Run. Now we'll throw. Run. Run. Run. Like. Because they had Zonka. They had Mercury Morris. Like. They had a three headed backfield. Like. They were just. We're going to run the ball on you all fucking day. Yeah. You know. And if we absolutely have to.

[01:18:32] We'll let Greasy throw. Yeah. You know. That's what the Dolphins were. Yeah. That's what they were when they. In 1982. When they lost to the Redskins with David Woodley at quarterback. They. They. They were. Run. Run. Run. They had the killer bees on defense. But the Redskins were just better. And then he gets Marino. And he was all of a sudden like. This kid can fucking throw. So. I'm throwing out the playbook and building the whole new one. Yeah. And that playbook was.

[01:19:02] Go deep. Yeah. Like just. Throw the ball down. Right. We. We are no longer investing in defense. We are no longer investing in a running game. We are investing in Dan Marino. Right. Right. And that's what he did. I mean. It was fun to watch. Yeah. It was. But I don't think Noel would have switched. No. No. I think Noel. Noel would have still played.

[01:19:32] Chuck Noel football. Yeah. Because I think that. That's. I mean. That's. I mean. The Steelers were the last team to ever use a shotgun formation. Yeah. Yeah. Like. People were like. Asking him questions at press conferences. Like. Chuck. Why aren't the Steelers utilizing the shotgun? Is it? Because I don't want to use it. And. The first time they use it. The quarterback fumbled the snap. They didn't use it the rest of the game. Really? Yeah.

[01:20:02] Like. Noel was like. That's why we don't do it. You know. Yeah. Yeah. Now. It's unusual to watch a quarterback go under center. Right. You know. Yeah. It is. So. All right.
