[00:00:00] Episode 580 of the Pittsburgh Nerd podcast. I'm Sean and I mean in this is the only podcast that says I
[00:00:32] play hockey and I fornicate because those are the two most fun things you can do in cold weather
[00:00:38] nice yeah little something from mystery Alaska for you there one of the great and underrated
[00:00:48] sports movies of all time in my opinion I love that movie it is very good so how are you sir I see
[00:01:00] that yeah it is fine everything's good I'm a little nervous okay because I'm having blue moon
[00:01:07] yes I like blue moon this is the first time like you either have well they did Mountain Dew or
[00:01:14] you have Budweiser so you have veered off your normal path I know but I was off playing today
[00:01:22] so I was like yeah so yeah I just just nervous and there's there's fruit in your beer which
[00:01:31] makes me even more nervous dude taste it no I don't want to I want to orange is good I think
[00:01:44] the orange is the key I had it one time I went down to the I mean normally with even without
[00:01:52] without the orange it's you know it was like I went down to Longhorn me and Nancy and they
[00:02:03] talked me into it like the waitress like talked me into it and like I didn't know anything
[00:02:11] about okay fine I'll try it out try a new beer and they brought me with an orange slice what the
[00:02:17] fuck is this I mean that's what it comes with you need the one okay whatever I'm done why it's
[00:02:25] good I'll take your word for it yeah well it's it's a good beer it's a Belgian white beer
[00:02:32] yeah nice it goes down smooth yeah I've always got it with an orange slice I like orange slices
[00:02:43] so yeah my beer they need to put nothing in your beer changes it changes it a bit yeah like it gives
[00:02:53] up more of a citrusy flavor right the second you add something to a beer in mind there's all kinds
[00:02:59] of beers out there with all kinds of hops and everything else I think this is pretty light
[00:03:04] in my opinion the second you have to rim your glass with something or you have to add a fruit
[00:03:13] to your beer I'm immediately out when I was a beer drinker I was just yeah no I don't need
[00:03:19] that yeah yeah that's and now that's like you know normal yeah you know so I don't have to worry about it, I don't drink anymore
[00:03:30] yeah yeah so you enjoy in your own solar glass I don't have any beer glasses I noticed it like
[00:03:42] I'm looking around it's so rare they drink beer out of a glass yeah but I don't have you
[00:03:49] know like the pint something like a Pilsner yeah just a thick heavy glass yeah I ordered I
[00:03:58] don't have any of this I have two pint glasses from they've got Godzilla on them yeah and I've
[00:04:08] been tempted to throw up a picture just to offend people you know it filled with milk
[00:04:14] nice you know so just to hear the anger like how dare you right so anyway I hiked
[00:04:34] Frick today Wow about six miles of Frick yeah and down in the woods and stuff well there
[00:04:42] panther hola no that's Shanley I think oh is it okay I don't know I think that's Shanley
[00:04:51] Frick's more towards the zoo I think look out that way yeah well freaking yeah yeah it was
[00:04:59] good man that's some good trails I'm sure it's nice yeah but yes that was nice good day a
[00:05:10] lot of hiking yeah but uh yeah good day well it's not too hot down there either yeah because
[00:05:23] you're shaded all the time for the most part yeah when you do go in the sun you feel like
[00:05:27] Dracula but yeah no really like you can feel the heat but once you're down by the creek
[00:05:32] and you know I mean it's pretty cool so there was this pretty great an incline I was going
[00:05:39] up for about probably about three quarters of a mile and I got all that then I start feeling
[00:05:46] yeah but other than that it was pretty pretty good yeah I know what you mean like when I used
[00:05:52] to walk the Boston Trail yeah like you'd hit a spot like you'd go for a bit you'd be like
[00:06:01] under shade and all of a sudden you come out and like this open area you just like oh my
[00:06:06] god what is wrong you know right then you'd find another shaded spot and be like oh that's
[00:06:13] so much better yeah yeah so I don't want to go off trail in the Boston Hall it's nice
[00:06:20] yeah I don't know if you went on did you say you went on trail no I just followed along
[00:06:26] you get on by going toward the poor view that way see I was going the other way
[00:06:31] see if you get on the other way and go you can go into Dead Man's Hollow yeah
[00:06:36] and I mean it's a little rocky it's a trail but right it's once you once you get under that
[00:06:41] undercover right I mean I mean I used to drops it a lot when I was a kid Dead Man's Hollow was
[00:06:46] was my playground I would go there all the time yeah yeah because I mean it's just like
[00:06:53] yeah we're going I'm getting it was like we're gen x like it was like you know
[00:06:57] yeah don't come back until dinner yeah at six o'clock okay great like I got my Casio
[00:07:03] I mean yeah we've got six hours let's go to Dead Man's Hollow so you'd stop you hit like a
[00:07:09] go up to Little General or the Unimark not you know and grab some snacks some snacks
[00:07:15] and some Gatorade and then you'd pop that in your bag bike down to Dead Man's Hollow and
[00:07:21] hang out and yeah yeah that was that was like my playground when I was a kid yeah
[00:07:25] Dead Man's Hollow yeah that's cool like yeah it's like all corporate now I'm like you know what the
[00:07:31] fuck is this well like I mean it's it got taken over like when I when I used to go down there
[00:07:37] I mean it was just like this like like just these trails like it wasn't even like managed
[00:07:45] now it's like managed by like I think Allegheny County actually manages it yeah and does upkeep
[00:07:51] on it and stuff like that which is actually a good thing it is I'm not saying it's not a good
[00:07:55] thing but it is like it's like the thing of like because it's managed by the county now I feel like
[00:08:00] it's lost a little bit of the mystique because like when I was a kid it was like this wild
[00:08:06] place where like you know yeah there were you know satanic rituals being performed and
[00:08:11] right you know all sorts of whackadoo shit and you know meanwhile now it's like you know
[00:08:17] you know imagine operated by Allegheny County rails and trails yeah nice like okay yeah I can't
[00:08:28] imagine like satanic rituals taking place on county property now well yeah I don't think there
[00:08:36] was any satanic rituals no I don't think so either but like there was there was just this
[00:08:40] mystique of of like what the place was I mean then the legends are still there but it's just
[00:08:46] it's like you know who built the troll bridge and you know like stuff like that I was like you
[00:08:52] know it was like as a kid and I'm saying kid I'm talking like 12 13 14 15 you know like in
[00:09:02] that range even older like but like you know it just had that mystique of like there was
[00:09:08] a mystery about it I mean it was a time I got dared to go in we had to walk 10 minutes
[00:09:23] into Dead Man's Hollow at night and we were given this is the dumbest thing we were given
[00:09:33] toilet paper torches they lasted all about 30 seconds right right you know and it's me and
[00:09:41] Scott Jenkins again and we make our way in and we walk in for 10 minutes so like so you're
[00:09:50] walking in for 10 minutes that means you have 10 minutes to walk out so you're 20 minutes in
[00:09:53] the hollow right plus to walk back which like at that time on the port view side like like
[00:10:05] John Noel Gary I think Mike Mike back is like all these people in the car waiting for us
[00:10:10] at the end of the rails at the mill and you had to walk past the mill on the railroad tracks
[00:10:16] right past the train bridge then up a little further ahead you got to the entrance to Dead
[00:10:21] Man's Hollow right well so we go all the way and we go 10 we walk in for 10 minutes
[00:10:28] turn around come back and it is pitch fucking black in there yeah it would be any now too
[00:10:36] yeah but I mean like that like that because like we went in it like we went in at sundown
[00:10:42] so it was like 8 39 o'clock when we walked in so like even as a even though like like
[00:10:48] outside of the hollow it was still like kind of like daylight a little bit yeah like in there
[00:10:52] it was pitch fucking black you know and we kind of like go walking in we walk into 10 minutes
[00:10:58] we're walking back and Scott's like did you hear that like I didn't hear shit
[00:11:03] the head were being followed I'm like not being followed and we start walking so do you hear
[00:11:08] that like I didn't hear shit shut up if I hear something I'll let you know and Scott was just
[00:11:15] like his paranoia is getting to me because he's like we're being followed by a troll I know we are
[00:11:21] there's no such a fucking thing as trolls like who built the troll bridge I don't know but
[00:11:26] we're not being followed by a troll right or a dwarf or an elf or anything else you know
[00:11:33] if any we're probably being followed by a rabid raccoon right someone that drank some
[00:11:37] yaki gainy water right you know and we're we're making our way and I started hearing
[00:11:43] something like skittering I'm just like oh that can't be good who knows what the fuck that is
[00:11:51] yeah but that's my point is like I'm like but also
[00:11:56] I'm thinking maybe it's a hobo yeah you know maybe it's a hobo is gonna like you know
[00:12:01] stab me with a rusty pen knife you know you had the encounter down there I don't want to
[00:12:08] hear it from you I did you know yeah down by the river yeah so that's my thought process is we're
[00:12:17] being we're being tracked by a hobo you know it's fucking rutger howler and hobo with a shotgun
[00:12:25] and finally we make our way out we and scott's like we were following get the fuck out of here
[00:12:32] I don't know if we were followed or not right you know but yeah so that's the kind of shit like
[00:12:41] when I think of dead man hollow that's what I think of now it's like schedule your picnic party
[00:12:46] just like what the fuck you know that's funny yeah
[00:12:55] dead man's hollow yeah good times I walk there often do you yeah that's cool yeah I
[00:13:02] walk there often I like it there yeah it goes deep it does it's very yeah you like you could
[00:13:13] you could go a good distance like I I we came out one time we came out in somebody's yard
[00:13:21] and they're like and we're looking like where are we like you're in elizabeth township like oh
[00:13:27] fuck yeah yeah I gotta be home in 30 minutes you know right so
[00:13:43] I'm surprised you haven't noticed the bauble on my my left wrist
[00:13:49] yeah yeah I got myself an apple watch oh geez
[00:13:55] I was gonna need cans you need a towel
[00:14:11] yeah so Nancy needed to upgrade her phone
[00:14:18] her her phone is giving her problems okay so I said you know let me let's go out and we'll
[00:14:26] get your phone upgraded I didn't need to upgrade my phone my phone still works great
[00:14:31] I have no problems with it right and but so like I said we'll just get yours upgraded
[00:14:38] and that'll be that right so we go to the AT&T store and the woman there
[00:14:48] she's going through and she's like I'm like I just we just need to upgrade her phone mine
[00:14:51] works fine I probably don't need to upgrade mine for another year or two like you know
[00:14:55] I have no problems with it right and she convinces me well like
[00:15:04] she was smart she convinced me that by upgrading my phone it's actually a savings
[00:15:13] because on the traded I'm getting 700 dollars if I do it next year I'm probably only going to
[00:15:18] get like 400 dollars okay so it's like why would you throw away 300 dollars if you can
[00:15:23] you know and you have it like I had an iphone 12 and you know we're iphone 12 plus max or pro max
[00:15:31] whatever that was and you know we were upgrading the the 15 pro max okay where she was so they
[00:15:38] convinced me to do it okay and she looks and Nancy's always had an apple watch she bought
[00:15:46] it years ago and the woman the saleswoman asked Nancy well what series is that she's like it's
[00:15:53] a series three it's like well it's not going to work on the new phone like it won't sync
[00:16:00] the software is not compatible okay which I mean that happens like you know that's
[00:16:06] understandable or you have iphones that like the software is not compatible okay so like
[00:16:14] they said well that's fine I wasn't planning on getting a new watch anyway so if it's not
[00:16:18] going to work it's not going to work okay but then she convinces us we can upgrade our watches
[00:16:26] and it's like mine would only be 99 cents and I was like okay get the fuck out of here
[00:16:35] like yeah like you're total you're total by upgrading your by upgrading your both of your
[00:16:40] phones her watch and your watch your bill only increases by 30 a month okay with the trade in
[00:16:49] I'm like oh shit you know I mean yeah like you sold me like I wasn't planning on trading my phone
[00:16:57] but this makes the most sense plus I get a fucking watch which I never planned on owning
[00:17:01] right right right you know so so yeah I mean that's that is a part of me it's like fuck
[00:17:10] I can't believe I fell for it yeah you know what I mean but there's a part of me is like man it
[00:17:14] makes the most sense and have you messed with it have you learned how to use it I've tinkered
[00:17:20] with it a little bit I really gotta sit down like because I've never done any research on
[00:17:24] the watch because I never plan on owning one okay you know I mean like it's never been
[00:17:28] something I'm like man I hope to someday have an apple watch right I've been more interested
[00:17:33] in getting an iPad than I have it in an apple watch but um so no I've kind of got to sit down
[00:17:40] and like you know watch some videos about like the ins and outs of what the watch can do
[00:17:44] I have tinkered with it a little bit I got a feel for it but like it's like what what can
[00:17:50] what's the best best thing the watch can do for me right you know I mean outside of like
[00:17:56] you know using like a Fitbit which the watch has told me I'm a lazy fuck and it's also
[00:18:06] told me like today I was driving along I mean it was a beautiful day today you were you were out
[00:18:13] I was doing my my usual errand running but I had all four windows down I was jamming
[00:18:19] us some Night Ranger oh it was glorious people around me hated my guts didn't care
[00:18:27] did not play Sister Christian no I skipped that I did that's my probably my least favorite
[00:18:32] Night Ranger song yeah but um the I get it the the the thing vibrates and I'm like what's this
[00:18:42] I look and it's the watch telling me you are in a very loud environment and this could be
[00:18:49] detrimental to your hearing I'm like yeah go fuck yourself nice yeah I know in a very loud
[00:18:58] environment I'm enjoying it nice yeah yeah but it's it's definitely interesting and like
[00:19:10] like I've wore it all day today and I wore it majority of the day yesterday
[00:19:16] and uh it's definitely getting used to it yeah because I haven't wore a watch in years
[00:19:24] yeah like I used to be big like having a nice timepiece what are you from the 1920s
[00:19:33] I dig having a nice timepiece I had somebody say that to me one time I had somebody somebody
[00:19:39] actually on model t still on let's get got it I had a guy one time I was helping him out
[00:19:45] and this is when I went working at Dish I used to wear a watch and I was at Dish
[00:19:50] and like he looked at my watch he's like that is a really nice timepiece
[00:19:56] I was like wow thank you so now I use it that is that's not like that wasn't a watch that was a
[00:20:02] timepiece this is a watch that was a timepiece you know when I was younger I wore watches all
[00:20:07] the time I had swatches I had regular watches yeah timex I had my first watch was uh
[00:20:14] uh an original Star Wars watch with the red you know yeah um you know but when I started
[00:20:23] scrubbing I stopped wearing watches really which makes sense and I have a Samsung I have a Samsung
[00:20:28] yeah watch which I've been using more um yes I can keep track of yeah the physical activity
[00:20:35] right part of it you know that I like right and I can I've talked on it too yeah you know
[00:20:42] it picks up really well um but you know I never I don't I can't text on it or anything
[00:20:50] like that no I mean I could read emails on I could do I could do everything like that but I
[00:20:57] I didn't go that deep down the rabbit hole with it I never really learned how to use it
[00:21:01] does that make sense no I learned how to use it for the very basic functionality of it is
[00:21:06] like what like you and I know I can get from point A to point B and I can yeah do the
[00:21:10] physical fitness part of it and stuff like that yeah but um and you know record how I'm
[00:21:16] sleeping you know yeah of course it's not an eye watch but you know no I get to have
[00:21:22] eye watches like their eye watches yeah I'm still not sold ongoing Apple no I understand that
[00:21:31] I think one of the reasons is because I'm 50 years old I've never used Apple products
[00:21:38] right I have no idea what the fuck I'm going into right does that make sense it does so
[00:21:43] on the exact same way it doesn't make sense for me to make the jump right on the exact same way
[00:21:48] that in that I've been using an iPhone for so long that jumping from an iPhone to an Android
[00:21:57] would be befuddling to me detrimental to your health yes I would end up I would end up throwing
[00:22:02] it through a wall probably right so like and I understand the basic basic functionality remains
[00:22:08] the same but there are some massive differences in and how they function you know the eye like and
[00:22:14] so like so I get that like because to me it makes complete sense as to why I would not differ
[00:22:22] from an iPhone unless they dramatically changed how they worked right like
[00:22:29] I'll always have an iPhone and it's not like a brand loyalty or anything it's just
[00:22:34] I'm comfortable with the operating system and learning a new operating system
[00:22:41] does not sound like fun to me I hear you no I know yeah and people that use Apple
[00:22:50] don't need you know what I mean like people that use Apple they use Apple
[00:22:54] yeah you know and a lot of places especially high tech and stuff like that they have Apple
[00:22:59] Ork yeah I mean it's probably you know especially for music and probably engineer all that kind of
[00:23:07] stuff it's probably the superior product right but the layman's you know to me like
[00:23:15] for the most part when it comes to computers and stuff like that it's right Android or Google
[00:23:20] or you know right but I mean I've heard people like who are deep in the computer
[00:23:25] programming and stuff have talked about they prefer the Android because of the customization
[00:23:31] that it offers to the open platform as compared to the closed platform Apple has right yeah like
[00:23:38] they're there so like I mean they're similar enough that yes I could probably navigate around
[00:23:45] and be able to look at Facebook and Twitter and all the shit I normally do but at the same
[00:23:50] time I'm just more comfortable with the operating system than I would be trying to
[00:23:56] learn something all new and trying to figure out how to set this up and that up and you know
[00:24:01] I mean like right like so so I understand like your point about like you'll never buy an Apple
[00:24:09] because you're so set with the operating system of what Android offers right you know that
[00:24:13] makes complete no sense to me because I'm the same way yeah I just I mean it's what I know
[00:24:17] and yeah that's what I flipped through and you know I'm just not comfortable with the
[00:24:25] system yeah I've never used it right does that make sense it makes absolute sense and it's not
[00:24:31] like I have like an Apple it's not like I have an iPad or you know what I'm saying like yeah
[00:24:38] like I have an iPad or a computer that's Apple or iMac or whatever it is right I've never used
[00:24:45] the system so I don't know anything about it right now if I had an Apple if I had Apple stuff
[00:24:51] aside for my phone then it would be a natural choice for me to go right right I could probably
[00:24:56] get by on an iPhone because I completely understand the operating system and right use it every day
[00:25:01] and right so it makes sense actually if I did work with Apple and stuff like that I would
[00:25:06] probably get an iPhone right or an iWatch because it would it's completely compatible
[00:25:11] right the nice thing I like about I I I'm sorry nice thing I like about Apple too is
[00:25:18] if you have an iPhone the connection is better yeah if you're going from iPhone to iPhone
[00:25:24] yeah it's much better right there's no delay there's nothing it's yeah like instant
[00:25:32] yeah I don't understand anything or anything you're trying to get between phones but when you
[00:25:38] when you go from when you're going from an Android device to an Apple there's some of
[00:25:42] lag there just you know what I mean like why the big thing was like like they just sit the
[00:25:49] phones next to each other and the phone will take all your information from your old phone
[00:25:55] so like when I brought it like so instead of having to download the Facebook app
[00:26:00] and sign in the Facebook it was already done for me okay you know I mean like that's
[00:26:06] there were a couple things here and there I had to reset up like you know I had to re
[00:26:12] like with the new phone I had to reconnect it via Bluetooth for my car okay um a couple of things
[00:26:18] here and there I had to sign back into like Gmail Gmail was a pain in the ass yeah and
[00:26:23] YouTube because it was I guess because it's Google products on an Apple you know so yeah that's
[00:26:30] just not going to transfer over fuck go fuck yourself you figure it out like you know yeah
[00:26:34] something I had to have signed into for four years is like you know
[00:26:38] you know so there was stuff like that but overall it was a pretty it was a very simple
[00:26:47] process of do you like your phone do you find the screen big enough and I do yeah yeah I do
[00:26:55] like yeah I don't have a problem with like the size of my phone
[00:26:59] I mean it's probably the same size as yours you know yeah same like I think the big thing
[00:27:10] that like I'll say this like the big thing a lot of people go nuts over the the difference
[00:27:15] between Apple and Android is the camera system okay and Apple is far behind
[00:27:24] Android they're far behind um Samsung um in the camera right but I don't take enough pictures
[00:27:35] that I that I care you know I mean like that the camera is one of the least important parts
[00:27:42] of the phone to me okay because I like I take pictures of my cat and the camera's not good
[00:27:48] on my phone suppose like I don't know like like if you talk to tech geeks they will tell you that
[00:27:54] the Samsung in particular I think Google Google the Google pixel is like the best
[00:28:02] but like they will tell you like the software for the phone or for the for the camera and the
[00:28:07] um the camera system itself is superior on an Android product particularly Samsung or the
[00:28:13] Google pixel as compared to Apple but like I said like for me for like the kind of pictures
[00:28:19] I take and the few that I take because again I'm not somebody who's like you know
[00:28:25] whipping out my phone and taking pictures all the time
[00:28:28] like the camera is fine for what I need it for I've heard I've heard I mean I've heard
[00:28:35] that the Apple um I've heard that the Apple uh camera's actually pretty good
[00:28:42] I've heard different yeah I've heard that it's actually pretty good is it as good as the
[00:28:47] pixel pro no I don't think so I don't think it is um because I've heard brave reviews on
[00:28:55] the pixel pro yeah um then it's just it's a it's a fantastic camera yeah I bet I mean like
[00:29:01] you're looking at all those Android products and you're you're pinpointing I mean Samsung's is
[00:29:06] okay but I mean you're looking at all the products and there's man this is this pretty
[00:29:11] decent camera here right you know what I mean so um but that's the least the smallest selling
[00:29:17] point to me like you know the camera quality right well to me camera's important because I'm
[00:29:21] always taking pictures outside yeah in nature and I have a Nord G10 I mean like
[00:29:26] this is an old phone right it's not a great phone but it takes good pictures I
[00:29:31] have to admit that you know the pictures that it does take is they're actually pretty good yeah um
[00:29:39] which is one of the selling points on this phone when I first got this phone right
[00:29:43] three years ago right um they said the camera was excellent on this phone so I got it yeah you
[00:29:50] know so all right let's get off all this nerd stuff let's move on to well I
[00:29:55] know isn't that shit we're supposed to talk about on a show like this no I guess you're
[00:30:00] right yeah I said there was some exciting news this week exciting news I couldn't wait to
[00:30:08] share with you okay so this week it was announced that Arthur Con sells out hotel
[00:30:20] room block in 12 minutes oh 12 minutes yeah so apparently well this year the event will run
[00:30:32] from July 4th through the 7th so you might want to avoid downtown for the 4th of July this year
[00:30:39] yeah yeah um yeah this is the quickest like apparently so that like it's a weird thing
[00:30:47] like they talk about so apparently officially Arthur Con has a certain block of rooms
[00:30:54] that they actually sell to their their convention ears sure to as part of their package priority
[00:31:02] right yeah so apparently that's so it's 2633 reservations which results in 11,103 sold room
[00:31:21] nights okay okay so but they expect more than 14,000 attendees at the convention itself okay
[00:31:34] now I don't again I don't know how much that is like repeat business so you went you know
[00:31:38] friday saturday sunday or whatever but um either way they're expecting a a large amount
[00:31:46] of people which they do every year and it does good business and though you know we've
[00:31:49] in the past we talked about the financial boon this has been for
[00:31:53] oh yeah for the city and stuff like that um
[00:31:58] but it is like that interesting thing of like this is like a premiere event now in that
[00:32:07] community right and you know it'll sell big like the fact that like their block of room like
[00:32:16] they said this is the quickest it's ever sold out like 12 minutes is like
[00:32:21] really impressive to me it is impressive yeah no I'm glad they have a place to call home
[00:32:28] you know yeah for their convention right i think it's fantastic yeah yeah really i mean
[00:32:34] out of all the cities in the country right it's but it's that odd thing of like this is like
[00:32:40] they're like the san diego comic con of of furry conventions right like i know they do
[00:32:45] others around the country i've seen like wrestlers talk about like you know i see
[00:32:49] like every time we go into is a furry convention this that week but this is like
[00:32:55] the biggest of the big like it's a very odd thing and it's in pittsburgh yeah you know
[00:33:02] and it's been here for quite some time oh yeah it has been yeah which is good you know yeah
[00:33:09] no i agree but it's also funny because of your your absolute phobia i do have somewhat of a
[00:33:18] you do well that i did get a picture with one of them i think yes you sent me that and i was just
[00:33:23] like the look in your eye of like how badly you wanted to run away
[00:33:33] i of all the people that would see me how i truly felt in that moment yeah was uh yeah
[00:33:45] disgust
[00:33:48] but you didn't want to touch it like you could tell like you were like like had your hands close
[00:33:54] to your body yeah like that was like no joy on your face yeah it was hysterical the guy was
[00:34:05] like thanks for taking a picture with me i was like yeah yeah yeah i don't know where the trap
[00:34:10] door is yeah tell me where the trap door is yeah keep the red rocket inside bro
[00:34:23] it's so weird that's such a weird yeah we talked about that right no we didn't
[00:34:29] oh pins i went down to pens the other week okay pens it's in south side okay okay so real quick
[00:34:42] uh they have duck pin bowling which i enjoyed yeah um real nice place they do not serve food there
[00:34:50] but they have like i don't know four bars i mean yeah it's nice yeah and you can order food
[00:34:55] right and have it brought in like we right eat board ash and yeah we ordered pizza yeah yeah
[00:35:01] they brought in the pizza uh-huh um they have big tables really wide open place yeah um and
[00:35:08] they have you know classic arcade games yeah great time right um they have like ping pong
[00:35:18] and duck pin and bocce ball yeah for real yeah and it's nice and open and the bocce ball is
[00:35:25] free ping pong is free everything's pretty much free even some of the arcade games are free
[00:35:29] yeah pinball was not free duck pin of course is not free um but uh
[00:35:38] what a fantastic place yeah i mean i wouldn't go down there on
[00:35:44] a friday or a saturday yeah you know what i mean but i went down there on the sunday
[00:35:55] yeah and i would go there during the week yeah um but yeah we had a great time down there
[00:36:03] um it was a really cool place yeah i i i really liked it but
[00:36:11] so we were down there playing duck pin we're doing our thing you know drinking a little bit
[00:36:15] yeah and uh all of a sudden i saw i i started spotting furries yeah and i'm like what is
[00:36:26] like it's too early for the furry convention yeah and it is i know i know it was yeah yeah you have
[00:36:35] that time marked on your calendar yeah it's about mid july or the beginning of july i mean i know
[00:36:42] when they come because i know it's hot as fuck when they come yeah and uh i'm like what
[00:36:49] going on here so i'm keeping my distance you know of course see the fox in the background
[00:36:54] yeah fuck stay away from the flash stay away from that career yeah yeah and uh you know
[00:37:03] i'm playing joust or something you know one comes up to me and starts playing a video game
[00:37:09] i'm like are you fucking kidding me yeah i mean how do you even fucking see through that yeah
[00:37:17] man so i guess there's a furry society of course here in pittsburgh right which
[00:37:23] may be normal you know right um and that's where they decided to meet that night after their
[00:37:32] convention yeah they're they're meeting they're meeting yeah right turns out my kid's friends
[00:37:38] with one of them okay yeah which is fine you know yeah okay and he uh that person was not
[00:37:46] there um but that's where they decided they meet that night you know like meet up after
[00:37:52] right now it's just like so yeah i got the picture so here's what's amazing to me about that like
[00:38:01] what that's what you just described like i understand like okay yeah you have the the society
[00:38:06] you have a you know you have a club that meets somewhere and then like afterwards you decide
[00:38:14] well we're gonna let's go let's go to pins but it's all going costume right like to me
[00:38:20] like it would have been like okay that's stripped like if you want to wear your little fox ears or
[00:38:25] your little tail hanging out here like i understand that but like the fact that you like
[00:38:29] decided like well let's all walk on over and in full costume and hang out there
[00:38:37] right right is like fascinating to me yeah right like wow right because that's like
[00:38:47] that's a bold move in my opinion what like just like because who know like like who knows how far
[00:38:54] they had to like travel right like was it like a block was it two blocks was it you know
[00:39:02] downtown and they walked across the bridge like you know like there's a lot of questions i have
[00:39:07] at this point on like where this gathering took place and why and how they got like did
[00:39:13] you get in your car with your fox head on right right and drive oh like in you know
[00:39:20] like there are questions that i need answered at this point and it's like interesting to me
[00:39:27] well yeah i i have no idea yeah i have no idea where they get they just showed up
[00:39:35] yeah and there was like a lot of them yeah and there were some people like there was
[00:39:41] about four or five people in full costume yeah right and there was about 10 or 15 others
[00:39:49] that were just had the ears and the tail you know what i mean like yeah that kind of thing
[00:39:54] but it still like wigged me out i was yeah i can't i just yeah like why would you wear it
[00:40:04] in there you know not that it was hot in there i mean it was right cool yeah i get
[00:40:09] your butt like the whole thing is like like they were in full out like and how did they travel
[00:40:14] in full costume yeah you know yeah yeah i knew how did you travel like was there a party bus
[00:40:20] involved in that i think that's funny but the people that were with them were like
[00:40:32] completely supportive of them yeah you know what i mean and that's and i think that's what i
[00:40:39] respect you know what i mean right these people are with the folks and they're completely supportive
[00:40:47] of them right you know what i mean and i think that's really cool yeah you know i mean
[00:40:54] i know i have a problem with furries i do but it's not and just to clarify this isn't
[00:41:00] a problem with furries this is a problem with costumed mascots as a whole yeah like like
[00:41:08] iceberg the penguin in a penguin game i'm okay with are you yeah i know you you do not like rock
[00:41:15] the panther and that's not even talk about the syracuse orange oh it's so forced so i mean like
[00:41:24] there are like i'm surprised you just said you're okay with iceberg because i'm okay with
[00:41:29] yeah you know i'm okay with kenny hanger the pirate parrot
[00:41:36] yeah that's on the uh yeah but i mean like i'm okay with the penguin because he just makes
[00:41:46] so many kids happy i know the parrot does too but
[00:41:50] but i mean like let's go deep down the rabbit hole the philly fanatic no
[00:41:56] yeah no i don't i don't and how about the one whatever that thing is from for the flyers like
[00:42:03] grimsby or i don't even know what the fuck it's called yeah and i don't like that texas a&m
[00:42:08] fucking boy either yeah he really bothers me there's a lot of mascots that bother me yeah
[00:42:14] i mean i'm not gonna lie rock the panther is fucking scary because it's not like
[00:42:20] rock the panther is just a guy in a fucking yeah that's like a poor man suit
[00:42:25] that's not like texas a&m you know where it's like almost not inflated but it's big yeah like
[00:42:32] almost animated animated you know not animated i don't know what the word is
[00:42:37] like the nebraska corn husker they have like the big one that's like blown up yes yes that
[00:42:44] steely mcbeam steely mcbeam yeah that's the right one you know what i'm saying yeah
[00:42:48] but rock the panther really bothers me just because i know there's a person under there
[00:42:54] yeah you can see their legs yeah you know what i mean like it's not like
[00:42:58] i don't there's just something about this it all all derives from airwolf i'm telling you
[00:43:04] people yeah the rise from air when that i saw that airwolf episode with the anubis heads and
[00:43:10] don't know where the fuck they were at i just i just scared the living shit out of me yeah
[00:43:17] nightmares out of that and i just cannot i can't handle beast heads on people yeah
[00:43:30] i mean i'm telling you you put a fucking goat head on somebody i would fucking die
[00:43:35] all right that was the one fucking the one steel city call we went to the guy
[00:43:37] was wearing the horse head you were you had your eye on him at all you knew where he was
[00:43:41] the whole time you were there yeah i can't handle and i mean it was the time we watched
[00:43:47] i don't know what was it the uh the scorpion king two and there was a minotaur
[00:43:51] you actually got up and left the room yeah i you were like no i can't deal with this
[00:43:58] no i can't yeah i just now you're like no thank you yeah i can't i just can't i can't
[00:44:10] deal with it yeah so but the point i'm trying to make is it so it's not that you have a problem
[00:44:15] with the furries themselves it's the costume mascot aspect of it that gives you the heebie
[00:44:23] jeebies now we do mock and ridicule because we know like there are children on parade day
[00:44:28] touching jizz covered fur oh truth you know but but overall i have no you would have no
[00:44:38] problem with them as a subculture just no i have no problem with organization i have no problem with
[00:44:48] what they are doing right i don't right really i i i don't that's not the uh we fully support
[00:44:55] arthrocon but you do it from afar i do because because uh the masks yeah um for some reason scare
[00:45:04] shit out of me yeah but i completely respect what they did right yeah you know what i mean like
[00:45:10] it's not yeah live your life love is love but at the same time right and it's not what i'm
[00:45:16] saying it's not a hatred thing right i don't hate them yeah it's a phobia of the correct
[00:45:22] phobia is the perfect word it is it yeah perfect word right i just want to clarify that
[00:45:30] because people i want people to be like they fucking hate furries no i do that we don't it's
[00:45:34] just he has a phobia of it which i find amusing like to poke fun at in my own way but the fact
[00:45:42] that you had that picture taken with one was like like i laughed for 10 minutes looking at
[00:45:49] that picture because i knew why you did it i can't i can't say but like it's like i knew
[00:45:57] why you had the picture taken and it was just like man yeah he he mustered up all of his courage
[00:46:08] for this i did i mustered up every fucking piece of me that i have inside of me to take that
[00:46:15] picture and you can see it on my face you can't oh it's tremendous and this is like
[00:46:21] oh yeah this isn't yeah it's not good right now yeah i'm not in a good place not at all
[00:46:30] not at all so so there's exciting news you can expect 14,000 furries on uh
[00:46:46] fourth of july weekend right i hope it doesn't affect your fourth of july plans
[00:46:50] no no because that's that's the interesting like usually they don't they're not like they're there
[00:46:57] like the weekend before or after the fourth this year i guess it's it's fourth of july weekend
[00:47:03] and i mean like fourth of july like the fourth of july in pittsburgh is a clusterfuck to begin
[00:47:11] with anyway right like i do not envy people getting into town and trying to get over by the
[00:47:22] over by the convention center on the fourth of july like if there are any furries listening
[00:47:28] this and you are coming to arthrocon you need to come in on the third right you know like on all
[00:47:34] honesty like that's you need to get here on thursday because on friday the fourth downtown
[00:47:41] will be a cluster yeah it will be i mean you're gonna see the greatest dandeli fireworks show
[00:47:47] you've ever seen but man getting into town on the fourth because like people show up at like
[00:47:56] nine in the morning six in the morning start like getting their spot for the fireworks oh i know
[00:48:03] you know that's crazy it is i mean the fireworks are good holy fuck firing up the hibachi
[00:48:13] right up there on mount washington yeah you know it's like a steelwork it is
[00:48:19] it's worse than a stealer game though because i mean it it screws up everything yeah it does
[00:48:29] and like and that's downtown like i you want you want to talk like i don't know how it works
[00:48:37] in other places because i've never you know been anywhere else for the fourth of july right
[00:48:41] but like like every small town has a fireworks display on the fourth of july around here
[00:48:50] like there's some in the keysport there's some in west mifflin there's some in monroeville
[00:48:55] there's some in you know greensburg like they're everywhere you go somebody's having like
[00:49:01] i can literally stand on my porch and i can see five different fireworks displays around the
[00:49:07] hill right you know like it's just they're everywhere so and i mean and so you get like
[00:49:15] you know a couple thousand people around rensey park and the keysport
[00:49:19] wow good luck getting out of that right yeah that's just a i've been there i used to go
[00:49:24] there all the time yeah that is a cluster fuck and a half right you know um just anywhere
[00:49:32] like i mean kennywood has their fireworks and it's you know a disaster of epic proportions trying
[00:49:40] to get get out of there like so it's it's just it's that odd thing of like fireworks are big in
[00:49:48] this town it is like you want to draw a crowd you say you're having fireworks right you know
[00:49:56] yeah there are two things that will sell out for a pirates game fireworks and bobbleheads
[00:50:03] you're right and people just flock for bobbleheads yeah it's crazy like the team will suck ass but
[00:50:10] they will show up for a bobblehead and a fireworks night and even better you give me
[00:50:15] a fireworks night with like a washed up band nobody's heard anything from for like 25 to 30
[00:50:23] years yeah oh i am there that's how people are yeah you know crazy right yeah
[00:50:36] you know it's fireworks night with foreigner i'm there baby yeah i want to know what love is
[00:50:46] you know what they better play jukebox zero hot bloody oh yeah that was one that was for yeah
[00:51:00] yeah so yeah so this town goes nice for far even though i will say this i guess now anytime
[00:51:07] paul skeens will be pitching they'll be selling out pnc park as well i don't know what you're
[00:51:12] talking about paul skeens was their number one draft pick last year okay he he pitched at lsu
[00:51:21] all right um he's had two starts all right and his average pitch pitch speed is 100 miles an
[00:51:34] hour he is just throwing gas yesterday against the cubs in wrigley field he struck out his
[00:51:43] first seven batters by strikeout every strikeout was over 100 miles an hour
[00:51:50] yeah and you match that with another guy another rookie this year jared jones who also has
[00:51:59] an like a pitch speed of like 98 to 100 miles an hour wow like they've got two
[00:52:05] flamethrowers the problem is they're getting no decisions or losing games one nothing
[00:52:10] yeah because the bats are doing jack shit for them right you know but but yeah i mean like
[00:52:17] it's ridiculous like paul paul skeens is just
[00:52:22] mowing like he he went six six innings six shutout innings no hit and they pulled him
[00:52:30] which bummed me out because i wanted to see if he could get the no header but they've
[00:52:36] got him on such a pitch count right now and the way like they're they're managing
[00:52:43] when he pitches and how much he pitches it's i understand why you're doing it but at the same
[00:52:50] time like man it couldn't have been easy to say he has guys throwing nothing but gas he's
[00:52:55] got 11 strikeouts and uh yeah we need to pull them because even though he's got no hitter
[00:53:03] i would not have wanted to make that decision right i'm glad i wasn't in pnc park you know
[00:53:11] i've been to a baseball game this year i haven't been to a baseball game in
[00:53:15] 15 years i refuse to go i the lat i stopped going when they traded away like
[00:53:29] jason bay and jack wilson like all those guys they brought up a cutch and i i got to see
[00:53:35] mccutchen as a young as a young player a couple of times and i reached a point around
[00:53:39] it's just like i'm tired of this i'm tired of watching them just rotate
[00:53:44] guys out and new guys in and it's never going to be they're never going to win anything and
[00:53:50] you know right like i was happy when they broke the 20 years of of losing i was happy when they
[00:53:57] went to the playoffs i was happy when they beat cincinnati in that wild card game right you know
[00:54:04] um i had one of the greatest moments in pirate baseball history is you know um
[00:54:13] the quado chant getting to johnny quado and he dropped the ball on the mound i mean that's
[00:54:20] that's brutal and then then he throws a duck up to russell martin who takes it deep like
[00:54:26] that that's the only time i've ever really wished i was at a pirate game because of
[00:54:33] all the years of misery i sat through like to be in that stadium at that moment would have been
[00:54:38] amazing right like and i've been to some amazing moments i've seen you know pit went on
[00:54:45] the last second against virginia a top-ranked virginia tech team i've watched them upset
[00:54:51] west virginia i've watched you know the steelers won super bowl so i wasn't at the
[00:54:57] game but you know right you watch i was at i was at the game role of ramon drained a three at the
[00:55:04] last second to beat west virginia i was you know um the night gibbs hit the half court shot
[00:55:12] to to at the buzzer to win the game like stuff like i've been to some amazing moments
[00:55:17] that i've seen in sports even as much as he broke my heart later on the night sid bream
[00:55:26] hit a home run in a meaningless home run off of the pirates in a regular season game when you know
[00:55:32] this first time coming back to three river stadium is a brave that's a moment i'll never
[00:55:36] forget right but sure but like that moment at pnc park when when russell martin went deep
[00:55:44] after quedo dropped the ball like the only thing i can compare that to like the way that
[00:55:52] crowd was was game one of the 92 stanley cup finals when lamu um they they it was like
[00:56:03] seconds left on the clock they were they were the game was tied lamu wins the draw circles out
[00:56:10] the the puck comes to him and he just buries it to win the game yeah and like
[00:56:17] like the arena the civic arena was shaking like the camera was shaking from the like
[00:56:24] the way that place exploded yeah like you know and that's like like fuck i would have loved
[00:56:30] to have just felt that yeah you know like i remember how i felt watching it on tv that night
[00:56:35] but like to be in the arena that night and feel that electricity like that would have been
[00:56:42] amazing and that's the like the same thing with that that night with that playoff game
[00:56:46] against the cincinnati reds like that game right like it was 20 years is the last time
[00:56:52] the pirates had played a playoff game and i mean that place was blacked out there
[00:56:57] was smoke in the air the jolly rogers were flying like that was the most intense i've ever
[00:57:05] seen a baseball game right and that crowd brought it that night and it was ridiculous
[00:57:10] you know love them well i love the civic arena playoff games oh i mean that that that game
[00:57:17] won against the the black ox when lamu buries that game winner with like seconds on the clock
[00:57:23] like the way that place just exploded yeah it was a lot of what the arena too it was i mean
[00:57:31] honestly it was because of the dome and the way like and the fact it was like stainless steel
[00:57:37] what the way it just bounced sound back not only that too but if you're away in the back
[00:57:42] if you're on the wall yeah in the back yeah you just pound it on that fuck oh yeah and
[00:57:48] it just added to it yeah i mean people stomping people fucking pounding on the thing it was
[00:57:53] it was loud yeah real loud i mean like really loud yeah that place erupted but that was also
[00:58:01] again like they started off behind i think they were down three nothing at one point
[00:58:06] and they came back the tide at five and win it with the sixth goal and like it was like
[00:58:12] that's just that thing of like the way i just i'll never forget watching that on tv and like
[00:58:17] they they gave the wide shot and the camera was just bouncing from the noise right like
[00:58:26] there was no steadying that camera but like it it was amazing civic arena was a good place
[00:58:35] it was like i understand why you had to tear it down no i get it too yeah i understand that
[00:58:42] completely right but it was a magical place it was it was i like the new arena yeah it's really
[00:58:50] nice actually when it comes to an interesting question i saw somebody talk about this
[00:58:57] because like jacksonville is um you know jack jacksonville announced their plans to
[00:59:06] completely renovate their stadium like for with a canopy and all sorts of stuff
[00:59:12] um the bills are building a new stadium a couple other teams are building a new stadium
[00:59:17] acuture stadium is going to be you know it's it's 23 years old right now yeah like three
[00:59:27] ever stadium came down when it was 26 yeah like do you think the steelers need to start
[00:59:33] thinking about a new stadium
[00:59:38] i agree i feel like i agree like i think it probably needs some upgrades here and there
[00:59:47] yeah but like to me like here's the here's the here's the problem
[00:59:58] this is what i'll say the probably the biggest problem when i go to a game i am there to
[01:00:02] watch the game i can give two shits about the amenities right you know what i mean like i'm
[01:00:09] i can care less about it i'm here to watch the the game i'm here to watch whether it be a hockey
[01:00:14] game a football game or a baseball game i like all the amenities that you give me all all the
[01:00:20] you know here's the bucko crew and he we're here stealing mcbeam or you know what whatever
[01:00:26] other bullshit you're going to do right i can care less about i'm here for the game itself
[01:00:33] but i am not the average person who goes to these games anymore and they want some
[01:00:38] other experience from what i do so to me like acuture is fine because it allows me to do the
[01:00:46] thing i want to do watch the game yeah you know do i wish the concourses were a little
[01:00:52] bit wider sure you know do i wish the lines to get a you know a hot dog and a pop were a little
[01:00:59] bit shorter sure but do i think wish things moved a little faster absolutely but i think
[01:01:05] overall the experience i'm looking for all right is provided by just simply allowing me
[01:01:11] to watch the game i do not think any of those days no hey it's fine how it is all right so
[01:01:26] did you see the steward's schedule i did not all you need to know is this
[01:01:33] the back half of their schedule that they're by is week nine
[01:01:39] and the back half of their schedule they play cincinnati twice cleveland twice the ravens twice
[01:01:45] and you throw in philadelphia and you throw in kansas city on christmas day right that is the
[01:01:52] most that is the most brutal schedule i have ever seen like like the last half of your season
[01:02:02] is nothing but divisional games oh here's philadelphia and here's kansas city just for
[01:02:09] shits and giggles right right right you know and you're playing the ravens and then four days
[01:02:15] later you're playing kansas city luckily that's a home game but still you're playing kansas
[01:02:20] city the defending super bowl champions right you know nuts it's it's a tough game it is brutal
[01:02:30] like i don't know like schedule making cannot be easy right especially nowadays with like so many
[01:02:40] concerts and events taking place at like a lot of these these domed stadiums like
[01:02:50] like in las vegas i'm sure it can't be easy to schedule football games because of all the
[01:02:55] other shit that probably takes place in that stadium as far as like boxing matches and ufc
[01:03:00] fights and you know there's probably a bunch of stuff that takes place there outside of just
[01:03:06] the raider games right um it probably massive concerts are probably taking place there a lot
[01:03:14] you know so it's like there's that and then you throw in like you know like all these other
[01:03:20] stadiums that probably have the same problem you know because like big concerts can say like well
[01:03:26] we can push this like we can push minnesota off until the winter because that's a dome
[01:03:32] stadium you know if we want to get to pittsburgh and philadelphia we need to get there
[01:03:36] in the summer or the fall before it gets too cold right you know um so it's there's that aspect
[01:03:45] of it as well i'm sure so but still like those those those that is just a brutal second half
[01:03:55] of the schedule just because like you want distance between like the vision games right
[01:04:04] um like you'd love to like play like all three of your division rivals like early in the first
[01:04:10] half of the season and again in the second half you know but here it is just you know a baton
[01:04:19] death march of like right right you know here's here's the asc north and philadelphia and kansas
[01:04:26] city you're probably playing nothing but playoff teams the entire way through right you know
[01:04:33] we're teams fighting for the playoffs you know no i know it's it's brute yeah so so yeah you had
[01:04:48] that going on too that was uh i watched that and like and there and it's like i thought like man
[01:04:54] i'm probably in the minority i'm looking at this as a brutal second half and like everybody came
[01:05:00] out and was like somebody does not like the Steelers right yeah right like you better have
[01:05:06] your ducks in a row the first half of the season or the second half of the season you
[01:05:10] are going to get the shit kicked out of you but i mean like here's the thing since in that as
[01:05:24] long as jerry burrows jerry burrows healthy like to me they're the best team in the vision
[01:05:29] yeah you know the ravens are not chumps and even i don't think the the browns are that good
[01:05:41] they still play us tough yeah yeah they do they you know you know i mean like i mean
[01:05:47] the like it's not like you're going to go into a cleveland game and it's you know oh that was easy
[01:05:55] yeah you know i mean like it's going to be a dogfight you know this is saving with with i
[01:06:01] mean the raven games are automatically like you just know like it takes days after a ravens game
[01:06:08] to get right and you don't get that time you have four days yeah you know so it's like holy
[01:06:14] shit and you're playing kansas city right you know so it's like you know well i think it's like
[01:06:20] three games in 11 days that they play and that's like that's a brutal schedule
[01:06:27] but either way i mean it's just it's i'm not looking forward to that like the second half
[01:06:35] of this like you honestly have to sit there and hope like you you're sitting there with like
[01:06:42] you have you have to like go into like the second half of the season you have to be like
[01:06:45] six and two yeah you have to win those games yeah like you honestly need to go
[01:06:51] like be set up for that second half because that second half is going to be
[01:07:00] that's what you'll find out you know how good you really are i guess yeah the truth so one
[01:07:13] last uh one last little tidbit here all right so let me get that so marvel has decided
[01:07:31] that they are going to slow down their pace going forward as far as releases of tv shows and movies
[01:07:42] and it's that thing of like like why is marvel not doing as well as it did pre end game
[01:07:59] all right okay and many people were pointing at it saying it's overload and that's maybe
[01:08:07] partially true like i i can't deny that right you know marvel was releasing like three to
[01:08:12] four movies a year plus then they plus the tv shows um i heard somebody say on twitter and
[01:08:23] i thought this was a valid point it's not that the movies have been any worse right
[01:08:31] it's just that end game set the bar too damn high like and and then the way that's right
[01:08:44] like i mean like end game is like one of the best movies i've ever watched right you know
[01:08:50] i mean like it not even as a superhero movie i mean it is like for the nerd and me it is like
[01:08:58] wow that was amazing like it's the best thing i've probably ever seen right you know but
[01:09:08] i also kind of point out like well where have the failures kind of been
[01:09:13] well i think they've been twofold i think one they've come out the gate
[01:09:20] post end game and if you take away guardians of the galaxy if you take away spider-man no way
[01:09:27] home they haven't like it's been like characters that like even like comic book fans are like
[01:09:37] oh yeah i think i know who you're talking about right like the eternals like like shang chi
[01:09:45] like you know you know like i mean it hasn't been a a bona fide like like the three movies
[01:09:58] that did well were spider-man because that's a property like everybody knows at this point
[01:10:02] there have been enough of those movies and you've seen the character enough that you know
[01:10:07] the character right you know you don't need to know marvel to know the character
[01:10:11] the guardians of the galaxy same thing and like dr strange didn't while it didn't do as well
[01:10:17] it still did well right you know but like that was post end game where in post infinity war
[01:10:25] where dr strange played a big role so people knew the character but like i i feel like it's
[01:10:32] just it's that odd thing of like like maybe just maybe you've reached too far into the well
[01:10:43] right you know like the only movie like the marvels didn't do well and i feel like that was
[01:10:54] just nerd trolls refusing to go see the movie right because they're like we don't like girls
[01:11:04] like really why not because i do nice you know like we know one girl superheroes okay i'm
[01:11:16] i'm sure that's how you think when you're enjoying those pictures of rogue all bent over
[01:11:22] or what you know like nasty asses but like that's how i felt it was i thought it was
[01:11:27] just that that movie just got trolled like shang chi was a very good movie but again that's
[01:11:34] a character like you had to dig deep for right the eternals was wasn't that bad but you had to dig
[01:11:41] deep for it right you know and and it's soft like it suffered the same as madame webb did i just
[01:11:52] watched madame webb this week oh how was that it's not as bad as i thought it was going to be
[01:11:58] all right but it's still not good okay like you know what i mean like i got at the end of
[01:12:04] it i was just like okay like i'll never watch it again like it's it's funny it's like the same
[01:12:13] way i felt about both the vena movies and morbius it's not as bad as people are saying it is
[01:12:23] but it's still not good okay like i think it was some poor acting in it and i thought they
[01:12:31] were trying way too hard to shoot in spider-man references like her partner like you know she's
[01:12:39] a paramedic and her partner is ben parker yeah his sister-in-law mary who's married to his
[01:12:49] brother richard parker are having a baby boy but you never hear the baby boy's name
[01:12:57] you know like clearly this is peter parker you know like they were trying so hard to like
[01:13:04] we're gonna fit this as much of this shit in as we can this is like i didn't think the coda
[01:13:10] johnson was very good in the movie i get it like the story made sense from a certain like
[01:13:17] if you if you like threw away like like let's just watch it for what it is and the story
[01:13:24] makes sense but at the same time it's like yeah i just think you know it's not as bad as people
[01:13:32] said right right it's doing good you know i mean like yeah like it wasn't a flaming turd
[01:13:41] but it was a turd yeah if that makes any sense to people yeah so but that's how i like like
[01:13:48] like the internals there i don't think the eternals is as bad as people said
[01:13:52] yeah i actually enjoyed it now the thing that's pissed me off is like all this time later is
[01:13:57] nobody still talking about like the the giant god that was coming out of the the indian ocean
[01:14:05] right you know that's still there like that that you know why hasn't anybody addressed that
[01:14:11] shit you know right right but i don't know what do i know but like but they're like i just i feel
[01:14:19] like marvel's problem is and like i feel like i feel like dc can run into this too very quickly
[01:14:29] is you just you can there is such thing as too deep into the well
[01:14:34] and you start thinking to yourself man should this character really have a tv series or a movie
[01:14:40] right right like i and i think that way about like dc like like i understand why they've gone
[01:14:47] back time and time again the batman and superman because they're iconic you know them right you
[01:14:54] know you don't have to like give like you know every fucking movie has batman's backstory and
[01:15:00] superman's backstory you don't need to really give it people know who the characters are for
[01:15:05] the most part right um but there is that that thing of like you start looking at like wow
[01:15:16] should like the question ever have a movie god no he shouldn't you know like like there are
[01:15:23] characters i can look at in like the dc in the justice league i'm like man i don't know if they
[01:15:29] should ever be brought to this to the big screen like or even the tv show right yeah there
[01:15:35] are characters like that that i i would like if they announced it i'll be like hmm i don't
[01:15:40] know about that but at the same time it's the same with marvel like but but like i've done that
[01:15:48] like i questioned the the the decision making process of like why are we doing guardians of
[01:15:53] the galaxy right well it turned out that that was one of the best decisions they ever made
[01:15:58] because those three movies are fucking amazing you know i mean like so but i i do feel like
[01:16:06] you know maybe you need to reel it back a little bit right find a way to get
[01:16:15] a little bit more closer to what people know all right instead of just you know
[01:16:22] just because as marvel's name one of those mean we trust it anymore right
[01:16:25] right which in years gone by we did like you know no matter how bad a movie was like you're
[01:16:33] not that were bad movies but like you know people were talking about how good four movies
[01:16:38] were yeah you know so no i get that yeah so it is that it is an oddball thing of like
[01:16:51] is there such a thing as too deep in the well maybe maybe there is yeah yeah who knows
[01:17:04] like i mean if they ever decided to do the clone saga as a spider-man movie
[01:17:09] movie like i'm sure that people like what the fuck is going on here
[01:17:14] you know like there is shit that it's like maybe that's a little too deep for like
[01:17:19] the non-hardcore fan right that's who you're really catering to when you're trying to make
[01:17:23] a movie like that right like how do you make a billion not one has to be an event movie
[01:17:27] and the event movie has to cater to the app the everyday person right who's not
[01:17:35] 20 movies deep into your mythology right what makes comic books so daunting why do they
[01:17:40] constantly reboot them okay 75 years of batman mythos is hard to swallow right yeah now i hear
[01:17:50] you know i that's the thing like i mean like would like you know like if what what is a
[01:18:02] character like this like a spider-man character if they brought it to the big screen like you'd
[01:18:07] be like wow i can't believe they went there yeah no i know like is there one
[01:18:15] i got this buddy's got a deep bench when it comes to villains but like is there a villain
[01:18:20] that you'd be like wow i can't believe they they even thought about that
[01:18:27] i don't know because spider-man characters are so well known
[01:18:30] yeah you know what i mean uh craven's a deep dive yeah yeah i know he's popular but i mean like
[01:18:40] especially with today but right i think craven's a deep dive if they go there well i mean i mean
[01:18:48] they're so he's making a craven movie but like i know that yeah but i'm just like i guess so
[01:18:54] like if they if they were to like do a spider-man craven movie you'd be like surprised
[01:18:58] something's being kind of weird because they're doing like this thing where
[01:19:04] even marvel involved you know they're kind of going you know tom hardy sitting at the bar
[01:19:13] yeah i see the spider-man yeah you know what i mean yeah and craven's were the same thing
[01:19:20] right they're sure you're gonna throw more of you know what i mean like there's
[01:19:25] it's very strange how they're doing it right how they're setting it up right and we'll see
[01:19:36] up their sleeve i just wish tony would just go ahead and say we we are doing
[01:19:42] miles morales as our spider-man yeah marvel can have peter parker miles morales is our guy
[01:19:49] morales is our guy yeah and build a spider that spider-verse around miles morales yeah i think
[01:19:56] it'd be better at this point because you're trying to build a spider-verse without spider-man
[01:20:02] yeah no i know you know what i mean and like even like with madame webb with all like the
[01:20:08] illusions of like well here's peter parker the birth of peter parker it's still like
[01:20:13] come on man yeah you know i know so it's weird it's very weird but like i agree with the marvel
[01:20:25] decision to pull back but i also hope like i i just hope they figure it out because i like
[01:20:33] marvel movies i like superhero movies i'm not tired of superhero movies yeah i'm not tired of
[01:20:38] superhero tv shows but at the same time like i get it where you have to kind of like start
[01:20:45] saying like maybe that golden age is over and we need to scale back a tad yeah you know so
[01:21:00] maybe maybe all right anything you like to add to the proceedings then sir
