[00:00:21] And welcome to episode 594 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean.
[00:00:26] And I'm Ian, and this is the only podcast that says...
[00:00:29] Now, if there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that nothing is more powerful than a young boy's wish.
[00:00:35] Except an Apache helicopter. An Apache helicopter has machine guns and missiles.
[00:00:40] It's an unbelievably impressive complement of weaponry. An absolute death machine.
[00:00:46] Nice.
[00:00:46] Yeah, that's from Ted.
[00:00:47] Ted.
[00:00:49] How are you?
[00:00:51] I'm good.
[00:00:52] Would you care to introduce our guest?
[00:00:54] Yeah.
[00:00:56] This is Lisa Tack.
[00:00:59] Any better half?
[00:01:01] My new girlfriend?
[00:01:02] She's joining us on the podcast.
[00:01:04] The new Lisa.
[00:01:05] Yes.
[00:01:07] Lisa. Okay.
[00:01:08] That's how I work it in my head.
[00:01:09] Okay.
[00:01:10] That's how I have to.
[00:01:12] There's previous Lisa and new Lisa.
[00:01:14] I have to...
[00:01:15] To jumble it all out.
[00:01:16] Yeah.
[00:01:17] Yeah, I guess how...
[00:01:17] That's just how my brain works.
[00:01:19] You're a confused man.
[00:01:21] I am.
[00:01:21] 52 is coming quick.
[00:01:23] It is.
[00:01:24] And I am so fucked up.
[00:01:26] I crack open that Red Bull.
[00:01:31] So, do, do tell, y'all.
[00:01:33] No, I'm not willing to tell.
[00:01:35] Okay.
[00:01:35] I'm here to do a podcast, but she got on.
[00:01:37] Okay.
[00:01:38] You have a...
[00:01:38] You always have a giant thing.
[00:01:41] You have some kind of outline in your head.
[00:01:43] You know, like, I will tell you, not like the past six weeks, I've had no outline.
[00:01:48] No.
[00:01:48] Yeah, nothing.
[00:01:49] We've been winging it on a prayer.
[00:01:51] Naked pain.
[00:01:52] Sure.
[00:01:53] Yeah, it does.
[00:01:54] It does.
[00:01:55] People have, like, you know, spoken.
[00:01:57] This shit sucks.
[00:01:59] Yeah.
[00:02:02] Have they?
[00:02:02] No.
[00:02:03] Okay.
[00:02:03] No.
[00:02:04] No, thank goodness.
[00:02:06] I could handle bad reviews.
[00:02:08] Like, if it was just like, you guys stink.
[00:02:12] Yeah.
[00:02:13] Like, you know, I don't get personal, like, you know.
[00:02:16] Right.
[00:02:16] You have the personality of, like, you know, concrete.
[00:02:21] Sometimes I do.
[00:02:22] Have you watched anything this week?
[00:02:24] I actually did.
[00:02:25] I watched a documentary about John Williams.
[00:02:28] Okay.
[00:02:29] Wow.
[00:02:29] It's called Music by John Williams.
[00:02:31] It's on Disney+.
[00:02:33] It's really good.
[00:02:34] Is it?
[00:02:34] Yeah.
[00:02:36] Like, it was just, it was interesting to kind of see, like...
[00:02:40] Because, like, there's two things about John Williams.
[00:02:46] One, he has scored our life.
[00:02:49] Okay.
[00:02:50] Like, if you really think about it.
[00:02:51] Star Wars, Indie, Jurassic Park, E.T., Schindler's List.
[00:02:58] Like, the list goes on and on and on of all the stuff he has scored over the years.
[00:03:02] Okay.
[00:03:02] That coincides with our lives.
[00:03:05] Right.
[00:03:05] Like, you know, so, like, in a way, John Williams has been, like, composing our lives, the music
[00:03:12] of our lives in many, many ways.
[00:03:14] Okay.
[00:03:14] That's deep.
[00:03:15] It is.
[00:03:16] I mean, it is, in a way.
[00:03:17] But, I mean, like, there are a number of, like, I dig, like, guys who do musical scores.
[00:03:26] Okay.
[00:03:27] But John Williams is obviously the king.
[00:03:29] Right.
[00:03:29] Like, there's nobody that can come close to John Williams.
[00:03:32] Right.
[00:03:36] And so, it becomes that thing of, like, like, yes, like, if you think about, also, he's, like,
[00:03:42] he's, like, the modern classical music composer.
[00:03:46] Right.
[00:03:47] Like, you can't, oh, you can, Mozart and Bach and stuff.
[00:03:51] Like, like, you know, I can listen to that.
[00:03:54] Like, I can.
[00:03:54] Like, I'm not saying it's bad.
[00:03:56] I don't hate it.
[00:03:57] Like, I can listen to there's some of it I really, really like or some of it I don't.
[00:04:02] Like, but, like, a John Williams score, like, I will listen to.
[00:04:06] Yeah.
[00:04:06] I mean, Potter.
[00:04:08] Is that Williams?
[00:04:09] That's Williams.
[00:04:10] Like, the first three Harry Potter movies were John Williams.
[00:04:13] Hmm.
[00:04:14] So, like, like, Hedwig's theme.
[00:04:16] Yeah.
[00:04:16] To be, like, you know.
[00:04:19] Like, that's John Williams.
[00:04:20] That's the brilliance of John Williams.
[00:04:22] Yeah.
[00:04:22] Yeah.
[00:04:23] Bringing the movies to life.
[00:04:25] Yeah.
[00:04:26] And, I mean, in August, like, and he was doing stuff before, well, before that.
[00:04:31] Like, he was, like.
[00:04:32] Three Licks to the Center of a Tootsie Pop?
[00:04:35] No.
[00:04:35] Okay.
[00:04:36] I'm sorry.
[00:04:36] I thought that was.
[00:04:36] But, like, he was, like, scoring, like, comedies in the 60s.
[00:04:40] Okay.
[00:04:41] You know, and, you know, like, Tony Curtis, you know, rom-coms and shit like that.
[00:04:46] Okay.
[00:04:47] And then, you know, then he kind of progressed a little bit and he did a couple of, like, John Wayne movies.
[00:04:54] Okay.
[00:04:55] And then, you know, along comes Jaws.
[00:04:58] Yeah.
[00:04:59] Yeah.
[00:04:59] You know, and it takes off from there.
[00:05:02] Like, he becomes.
[00:05:04] He goes from being Johnny Williams to being John Williams.
[00:05:07] Yeah.
[00:05:07] Pretty much Spielberg's right hand.
[00:05:09] Yeah.
[00:05:09] Like, he's done every Spielberg movie.
[00:05:11] Right.
[00:05:13] So, it becomes that interesting thing.
[00:05:15] Like, watching the documentary about, like, a guy who did that.
[00:05:23] Like, made all of this music.
[00:05:25] Like, hundreds of hours of music.
[00:05:30] Right.
[00:05:30] You know?
[00:05:32] And it's like, well, who was this guy?
[00:05:36] Like, and he seems like a nice enough guy.
[00:05:38] But, like, it's also, like, there's, like, it's hinted at, like, like, he was an absent father.
[00:05:44] Oh, really?
[00:05:45] Like, they don't go delve into it.
[00:05:47] Like, the kid's kind of, like, you know.
[00:05:49] Because, like, he has three kids.
[00:05:50] Two sons and a daughter.
[00:05:52] One of which.
[00:05:52] One son is a drummer.
[00:05:54] I can't remember what band it was.
[00:05:55] And the other son is the lead singer of Toto.
[00:05:58] Get the fuck out.
[00:05:59] No.
[00:06:00] No joke.
[00:06:00] Did you know that?
[00:06:01] I didn't know that.
[00:06:04] Ah.
[00:06:05] I'm fact checking.
[00:06:06] I'm fact checking here.
[00:06:07] Fact check away, please.
[00:06:08] But, yeah.
[00:06:09] The lead singer of Toto?
[00:06:11] Yeah.
[00:06:13] Huh.
[00:06:14] And his daughter was, like, the oldest.
[00:06:17] And when his wife died, he, like, dove even.
[00:06:26] Like, he was already, like, worked.
[00:06:28] Like, he would say, like, I would spend days at Fox Studios.
[00:06:32] Right.
[00:06:33] Because you can't work with children around.
[00:06:36] Right.
[00:06:37] Like, I need the silence to work.
[00:06:40] I get it.
[00:06:40] So, when his wife died, it's like, his daughter kind of, like, had to step up.
[00:06:46] And he was off busy making all this music.
[00:06:52] Or was he?
[00:06:56] Yeah.
[00:06:57] He was the front man for Toto during the first two albums.
[00:07:03] Hmm.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:05] Interesting.
[00:07:06] Yeah.
[00:07:10] So.
[00:07:11] I had no idea.
[00:07:12] Neither did I.
[00:07:13] Like, I would have had no clue.
[00:07:15] In a way, it makes sense.
[00:07:17] I wonder if he bragged about it.
[00:07:18] I'm just kidding.
[00:07:20] Yeah.
[00:07:20] My son's the lead singer of Toto.
[00:07:22] Yeah.
[00:07:23] Hi, I'm John Williams.
[00:07:24] I've composed many of your favorite musical pieces and movies.
[00:07:28] But my kid's the lead singer of Toto.
[00:07:31] You're Skippy do.
[00:07:32] Yeah.
[00:07:33] Part of Toto.
[00:07:34] My kid wrote Africa.
[00:07:37] Yeah.
[00:07:37] Yeah.
[00:07:42] But you're right.
[00:07:42] I mean, if you think about all the movies that he's done, it kind of has scored our life.
[00:07:47] In a way.
[00:07:48] We know all those themes.
[00:07:50] Yeah.
[00:07:51] Yeah.
[00:07:51] Exactly.
[00:07:51] Like, I mean, it's amazing.
[00:07:53] Like, when you think about, like, the impact he's kind of had.
[00:07:57] Yeah.
[00:07:59] Yeah.
[00:07:59] On us.
[00:08:01] Just because of, like, all of those themes that he's written.
[00:08:05] Like, you know.
[00:08:07] Banger after banger after banger after banger, too.
[00:08:09] Like, if you really think about it.
[00:08:11] Like, Star Wars.
[00:08:12] And when you get to the Empire Strikes Back, you get the Imperial March.
[00:08:15] And, you know.
[00:08:17] The theme of the Jurassic Park.
[00:08:19] And, you know.
[00:08:19] The theme for the Force or Yoda's theme.
[00:08:21] Whatever you want to refer to it.
[00:08:22] Like, all those different, like, Jaws.
[00:08:25] Indiana Jones.
[00:08:26] Indiana Jones.
[00:08:26] Like, all those.
[00:08:29] Like.
[00:08:30] And then, like, you talk about, like.
[00:08:33] The theme from Schindler's List.
[00:08:36] Is, like, this beautiful violin piece.
[00:08:40] Mm.
[00:08:41] You know.
[00:08:42] It's, like, so song.
[00:08:43] Like, Schindler's List is, like, you know.
[00:08:44] That's a rough move.
[00:08:46] But, like, that score is so fucking beautiful.
[00:08:49] Yeah.
[00:08:50] You know.
[00:08:51] And then even, like.
[00:08:53] For Saving Private Ryan.
[00:08:55] Like, Steven Spielberg said.
[00:08:56] The military.
[00:08:58] Asks for those pieces of music.
[00:09:00] Permission to use those pieces of music more than anything else.
[00:09:03] Oh, really?
[00:09:04] Yeah.
[00:09:04] Yeah.
[00:09:05] Because Williams did such a fantastic job of, kind of, like.
[00:09:08] Celebrating the military with those scores.
[00:09:11] I see.
[00:09:12] So, what's your favorite John Williams theme?
[00:09:17] It's probably Indy.
[00:09:19] Yours?
[00:09:20] Jurassic Park.
[00:09:22] Mm.
[00:09:22] Yeah.
[00:09:23] Can't go wrong there.
[00:09:25] Mine would probably be Porky's.
[00:09:27] I'm just kidding.
[00:09:33] The Howler.
[00:09:34] Yeah.
[00:09:35] The Howler theme.
[00:09:36] No.
[00:09:38] Mine's.
[00:09:39] I agree.
[00:09:40] Mine's probably Indiana Jones.
[00:09:42] For sure.
[00:09:43] It's just.
[00:09:44] It's.
[00:09:44] I mean.
[00:09:47] Like, they even.
[00:09:48] Team Control at her finest.
[00:09:49] Oh.
[00:09:50] That's.
[00:09:52] Okay.
[00:09:54] But there are, like.
[00:09:56] Like.
[00:09:56] That's.
[00:09:56] Like.
[00:09:57] Like.
[00:09:57] They talk about, like.
[00:09:58] Stuff like.
[00:09:59] The balls it took.
[00:10:02] For, like.
[00:10:03] The.
[00:10:03] The opening of Star Wars.
[00:10:05] Right.
[00:10:05] Like that.
[00:10:06] That.
[00:10:07] Just that brass section.
[00:10:08] Just.
[00:10:09] Popping.
[00:10:10] Yeah.
[00:10:10] You know.
[00:10:11] And it's just like.
[00:10:12] And you think about it.
[00:10:14] And like.
[00:10:14] Nobody did shit like that.
[00:10:16] Yeah.
[00:10:17] But yet.
[00:10:18] Now.
[00:10:18] Here we are.
[00:10:19] And it's like.
[00:10:20] He does it.
[00:10:21] And it's like.
[00:10:21] Well.
[00:10:21] Why didn't anybody else do this?
[00:10:23] Yeah.
[00:10:23] He fanfared it.
[00:10:24] Yeah.
[00:10:24] Yeah.
[00:10:25] It was his big fanfare.
[00:10:27] Like.
[00:10:27] Like.
[00:10:28] When you.
[00:10:28] It's that moment.
[00:10:29] Like.
[00:10:29] I always talk about.
[00:10:30] Like.
[00:10:30] When I watch a Star Wars movie.
[00:10:32] Like.
[00:10:32] It comes up.
[00:10:33] A long time ago.
[00:10:34] In the galaxy.
[00:10:34] Far, far away.
[00:10:35] In blue.
[00:10:36] And I close my eyes.
[00:10:37] Yeah.
[00:10:38] And I just wait for it.
[00:10:39] And when that brass hits.
[00:10:40] I open my eyes.
[00:10:41] And there's a Star Wars logo.
[00:10:42] I'm like.
[00:10:43] Oh shit.
[00:10:44] I just get goosebumps immediately.
[00:10:46] I'm six of you.
[00:10:47] Yeah.
[00:10:48] I.
[00:10:48] I start crying.
[00:10:49] I got goosebumps.
[00:10:51] It's.
[00:10:51] You know.
[00:10:51] I'm a fucking mess.
[00:10:53] You are a mess.
[00:10:55] Sallying up.
[00:10:56] You're right.
[00:10:57] Movie hasn't even fucking started.
[00:10:59] I haven't gotten to crawl yet.
[00:11:00] I'm already like.
[00:11:01] That's true.
[00:11:02] You know.
[00:11:03] Jurassic Park's getting seen something too.
[00:11:05] Yeah.
[00:11:06] It is.
[00:11:07] And it gets played on so much.
[00:11:08] It becomes like this haunting thing.
[00:11:10] And like.
[00:11:10] It's.
[00:11:11] It's really well done.
[00:11:12] Mm-hmm.
[00:11:13] Yeah.
[00:11:13] When it gets dark.
[00:11:14] That theme gets darker.
[00:11:15] Yep.
[00:11:16] Yeah.
[00:11:17] It's good stuff.
[00:11:18] And then even later on.
[00:11:19] Like when other composers played with it.
[00:11:22] Like.
[00:11:23] As bad as that second Jurassic World movie is.
[00:11:27] And it's bad.
[00:11:28] It is.
[00:11:29] Like.
[00:11:29] There's that moment where like that.
[00:11:31] The ship is pulling away from the island.
[00:11:33] And.
[00:11:33] It's.
[00:11:34] Caving in on itself because of the volcano.
[00:11:36] And there's like that dinosaur on the dock.
[00:11:38] Brontosaurus is around the fire.
[00:11:40] Yeah.
[00:11:40] And like.
[00:11:40] And it plays like.
[00:11:42] Like a haunting like.
[00:11:44] Version of that theme.
[00:11:46] And you're just like.
[00:11:47] Oh.
[00:11:47] Fuck.
[00:11:49] But that's like somebody taking what Williams did.
[00:11:51] And.
[00:11:52] Using it in the moment.
[00:11:53] But it's still like.
[00:11:54] The brilliance of John Williams.
[00:11:56] It fits.
[00:11:57] Yeah.
[00:11:57] You know.
[00:11:59] Yeah.
[00:11:59] I didn't.
[00:11:59] That was a terrible movie.
[00:12:01] Did you see the second one?
[00:12:02] Yes.
[00:12:02] I saw the second one.
[00:12:03] The dinosaurs on fire.
[00:12:05] Was kind of like.
[00:12:06] A little much for me.
[00:12:08] Yeah.
[00:12:09] Do you know what I mean?
[00:12:10] Like they're all trying to get to the water.
[00:12:12] And they're just dying.
[00:12:13] Yeah.
[00:12:14] It's horrible.
[00:12:16] It was.
[00:12:17] It was.
[00:12:17] But that's like.
[00:12:18] If that would have been the movie.
[00:12:20] I probably would have been fine.
[00:12:23] It's the second half of that movie.
[00:12:26] Where it's.
[00:12:27] You know.
[00:12:27] They're doing the.
[00:12:30] The black market auction.
[00:12:32] With the dinosaurs.
[00:12:33] And.
[00:12:34] Then the all hell break.
[00:12:36] I mean.
[00:12:36] It was just.
[00:12:38] T-Rex is walking around.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:41] We did that first.
[00:12:43] Yeah.
[00:12:43] Next thing.
[00:12:44] Next thing.
[00:12:44] Next thing.
[00:12:45] Next thing.
[00:12:45] You know.
[00:12:45] He's.
[00:12:46] He's in.
[00:12:47] You know.
[00:12:47] Some.
[00:12:48] Some cul-de-sac.
[00:12:49] In Arizona.
[00:12:50] Eating the dog.
[00:12:51] Eating the dog.
[00:12:51] Yeah.
[00:12:54] I kind of like that touch.
[00:12:56] I mean.
[00:12:56] It's nice.
[00:12:57] Yeah.
[00:12:57] But.
[00:12:58] I mean.
[00:12:59] Like.
[00:12:59] It just.
[00:12:59] It was.
[00:13:03] For as good as that first Jurassic World movie was.
[00:13:05] That second one is a massive disappointment.
[00:13:07] And the third one's even worse.
[00:13:09] Yeah.
[00:13:09] And I don't know how.
[00:13:10] Like.
[00:13:11] You can.
[00:13:12] Like.
[00:13:13] Bring back the original cast.
[00:13:14] And fuck it up that bad.
[00:13:16] Yeah.
[00:13:17] True.
[00:13:18] Yeah.
[00:13:18] You know.
[00:13:19] I agree.
[00:13:21] They should have just let it alone with the first one.
[00:13:24] Like.
[00:13:24] At least at the end of the second one.
[00:13:26] You get Goldblum going.
[00:13:27] Welcome to Jurassic World.
[00:13:29] Yeah.
[00:13:29] You're like.
[00:13:30] That's fucking Goldblum.
[00:13:31] Yeah.
[00:13:31] But it's Goldblum.
[00:13:32] Pittsburgh proud.
[00:13:34] Yeah.
[00:13:35] I guess.
[00:13:37] It's not a Goldblum thing.
[00:13:39] I never have been.
[00:13:40] Because he never breaks character.
[00:13:42] He's just.
[00:13:42] I get it.
[00:13:43] That's who he is.
[00:13:44] He just.
[00:13:44] He never breaks character.
[00:13:45] He's always Jeff Goldblum in a movie.
[00:13:47] Whether it be Marvel.
[00:13:48] Whether it be.
[00:13:52] But it works in the fly.
[00:13:54] Yeah.
[00:13:55] He does work in the fly.
[00:13:58] I agree.
[00:13:59] But.
[00:13:59] What was the.
[00:14:00] Even.
[00:14:00] He was.
[00:14:01] Even the same guy in.
[00:14:02] Buckaroo.
[00:14:03] Earth Girls Are Easy.
[00:14:05] Yeah.
[00:14:05] Earth Girls Are Easy.
[00:14:08] Transylvania 6.
[00:14:09] 5,000.
[00:14:10] That one.
[00:14:10] Yeah.
[00:14:11] Yeah.
[00:14:11] Same guy.
[00:14:16] That's what the fem thing went.
[00:14:19] Love that.
[00:14:20] I can't believe you pulled that movie.
[00:14:22] Transylvania 6,000.
[00:14:23] Yeah.
[00:14:23] I think that's what it was called.
[00:14:24] I think so.
[00:14:25] Yeah.
[00:14:25] I mean.
[00:14:26] That is a.
[00:14:26] A hole and a half.
[00:14:28] Oh.
[00:14:28] That's horrible.
[00:14:29] Oh.
[00:14:30] It is.
[00:14:30] It's all.
[00:14:30] I mean.
[00:14:32] At least Earth Girls Are Easy.
[00:14:33] You know what another great movie is.
[00:14:34] That's so underrated.
[00:14:35] That's never talked about.
[00:14:36] I'm talking about all these movies.
[00:14:37] You probably.
[00:14:38] On HBO.
[00:14:39] Yes.
[00:14:40] Top Secret.
[00:14:41] Is a great.
[00:14:42] Great.
[00:14:44] Val Kilmer.
[00:14:44] I mean.
[00:14:45] That's.
[00:14:47] That's so classic.
[00:14:49] And.
[00:14:49] You're right.
[00:14:50] It is probably.
[00:14:51] Underrated.
[00:14:52] It is.
[00:14:53] For a comedy.
[00:14:54] That's good.
[00:14:56] Yeah.
[00:14:56] But anyway.
[00:14:57] Um.
[00:14:57] Underwater fight sequence.
[00:14:59] And.
[00:14:59] Yeah.
[00:15:00] But.
[00:15:01] I mean.
[00:15:01] It just.
[00:15:02] Um.
[00:15:03] Yeah.
[00:15:04] I just.
[00:15:04] I'm just not a huge fan of Goldblum.
[00:15:06] Just because of.
[00:15:07] You know.
[00:15:09] I just.
[00:15:10] I like Goldblum to a certain extent.
[00:15:12] But then I just get sick of him.
[00:15:14] Do you know what I mean?
[00:15:15] Like.
[00:15:15] Yeah.
[00:15:16] If they don't break character.
[00:15:17] If I don't see anything.
[00:15:21] Um.
[00:15:21] Who am I thinking of?
[00:15:22] Will Ferrell.
[00:15:23] So.
[00:15:23] Right.
[00:15:24] So when Will Ferrell came out with.
[00:15:26] Um.
[00:15:28] What's the.
[00:15:29] What's the movie with Wilson in it?
[00:15:30] Um.
[00:15:32] They were in college.
[00:15:35] Oh.
[00:15:35] Um.
[00:15:37] That's one of my favorite movies.
[00:15:39] Oh.
[00:15:39] Shit.
[00:15:40] Old school.
[00:15:40] Old school.
[00:15:41] Yeah.
[00:15:41] So when Old School came out.
[00:15:42] Ferrell was like.
[00:15:43] Not the lead.
[00:15:44] Not the lead.
[00:15:45] But he was.
[00:15:45] Yeah.
[00:15:46] He was that perfect fit.
[00:15:47] Right.
[00:15:48] And.
[00:15:48] I think he was still at Saturday Night Live.
[00:15:50] When that.
[00:15:50] When that came out.
[00:15:51] Maybe.
[00:15:51] But Frank the Tank.
[00:15:52] And all the stuff that was involved in that.
[00:15:55] The tranquilizer dart.
[00:15:57] Yeah.
[00:15:57] The whole thing.
[00:15:58] I mean.
[00:15:58] Like he.
[00:15:58] You're my boy blue.
[00:15:59] He kind of.
[00:16:00] Yes.
[00:16:00] He kind of stole the show.
[00:16:01] Right.
[00:16:02] Yeah.
[00:16:02] And they were like.
[00:16:03] Oh.
[00:16:03] Will Ferrell.
[00:16:03] We want him more.
[00:16:04] And then he came out with Anchorman.
[00:16:06] Perfect movie.
[00:16:07] That was his lead role.
[00:16:08] He was fantastic.
[00:16:10] Anchorman was.
[00:16:11] One of the best comedies.
[00:16:13] Truly.
[00:16:13] I think.
[00:16:14] Ever written.
[00:16:14] Yeah.
[00:16:15] I.
[00:16:15] Honestly.
[00:16:16] It was perfect.
[00:16:17] Everybody that was in it.
[00:16:18] But then.
[00:16:21] Came Ricky Bobby.
[00:16:22] Step.
[00:16:23] Was it Step Brothers?
[00:16:24] Step Brothers.
[00:16:24] It was okay.
[00:16:25] Not bad.
[00:16:26] But what's his name.
[00:16:29] Opposite of him.
[00:16:30] Um.
[00:16:31] Um.
[00:16:32] What's his name?
[00:16:33] I can't think of it.
[00:16:35] I picture my.
[00:16:36] We're all in our 50s folks.
[00:16:42] Something junior.
[00:16:43] Let's phone a friend.
[00:16:49] All right.
[00:16:49] Let's get with old.
[00:16:54] Who is he?
[00:16:55] I'm getting there.
[00:16:57] Oh.
[00:16:57] John C. Reilly.
[00:16:58] Yeah.
[00:16:58] John C. Reilly.
[00:17:00] John C. Reilly.
[00:17:01] I've seen him play multiple.
[00:17:04] Like.
[00:17:05] Because John C. Reilly is really funny.
[00:17:07] Right.
[00:17:08] But he's also like.
[00:17:09] A serious actor as well.
[00:17:10] Yeah.
[00:17:10] Like.
[00:17:11] I knew him as a serious actor.
[00:17:12] Before he started doing.
[00:17:14] All these.
[00:17:14] That dumb ass shit that he did.
[00:17:16] Yeah.
[00:17:16] Yeah.
[00:17:16] I mean.
[00:17:17] Like.
[00:17:18] He's that guy that like.
[00:17:19] If I see him.
[00:17:19] Whatever he's going to be.
[00:17:20] And I'm like.
[00:17:20] Okay.
[00:17:20] It's going to be a good movie.
[00:17:21] Because he's in it.
[00:17:22] Yeah.
[00:17:22] Yeah.
[00:17:23] But he switches it up.
[00:17:25] Right.
[00:17:25] Will Ferrell never switched it up.
[00:17:26] Tally.
[00:17:27] He unites.
[00:17:27] I mean.
[00:17:27] Like.
[00:17:27] He just kept going.
[00:17:28] And going.
[00:17:29] And going.
[00:17:29] Sort of like Sandler movies.
[00:17:31] Right.
[00:17:31] Yeah.
[00:17:32] I like Sandler.
[00:17:33] I really do.
[00:17:34] But I like Sandler.
[00:17:34] In movies that are off.
[00:17:37] Like.
[00:17:37] His off.
[00:17:38] Color ones.
[00:17:39] Are actually pretty good.
[00:17:40] Where he's not playing the comedian.
[00:17:42] The entire.
[00:17:43] He's not happy Gilmore.
[00:17:45] The entire show.
[00:17:46] Right.
[00:17:46] You know what I mean?
[00:17:47] Yeah.
[00:17:48] Like.
[00:17:48] I love Sandler.
[00:17:49] Don't get me wrong.
[00:17:50] But.
[00:17:50] I get tired of Sandler.
[00:17:52] Just the way.
[00:17:52] Same way I get tired of Ferrell.
[00:17:53] Just the same way I get tired of Goldblum.
[00:17:57] I just.
[00:17:57] I don't want to hear Goldblum.
[00:17:59] I don't want to hear him do it anymore.
[00:18:00] Like.
[00:18:01] I get tired of it.
[00:18:01] Like.
[00:18:02] I know this character.
[00:18:03] I've seen him in.
[00:18:03] This X, Y, and Z.
[00:18:04] I don't want to see that.
[00:18:06] That's why.
[00:18:07] When he was in Thor.
[00:18:08] Right?
[00:18:08] Yeah.
[00:18:11] It was Jeff Goldblum.
[00:18:12] There was nothing.
[00:18:13] Right.
[00:18:14] I mean.
[00:18:14] I know you liked him in that.
[00:18:16] But at the same point.
[00:18:17] I'm kind of like.
[00:18:18] I get.
[00:18:19] I get your point.
[00:18:20] Because I mean like.
[00:18:21] But you say that about a lot of people.
[00:18:22] Like.
[00:18:23] Like The Rock.
[00:18:25] Yeah.
[00:18:25] But I like The Rock.
[00:18:26] Well so do I.
[00:18:27] I love Dwayne.
[00:18:28] You know.
[00:18:28] But.
[00:18:29] Friend of the show by the way.
[00:18:31] Friend of the show.
[00:18:31] Dwayne Johnson.
[00:18:32] Yeah.
[00:18:32] But if you think about it.
[00:18:34] Like.
[00:18:34] He does like.
[00:18:35] He's basically the same fucking.
[00:18:37] Character.
[00:18:37] And he doesn't even bother changing clothes.
[00:18:40] I know.
[00:18:40] It's usually in like.
[00:18:41] Like some sort of like.
[00:18:43] Like.
[00:18:44] Khakis.
[00:18:45] Or like with like the.
[00:18:46] The.
[00:18:47] The pockets all over his pants.
[00:18:49] And a white t-shirt.
[00:18:50] Yeah.
[00:18:50] Yeah.
[00:18:50] That's his wardrobe.
[00:18:52] For damn near any movie.
[00:18:54] Yeah.
[00:18:54] You know.
[00:18:55] And it's like.
[00:18:56] It works.
[00:18:57] You know.
[00:18:59] He was great in Jumanji.
[00:19:00] Hmm.
[00:19:01] Oh yeah.
[00:19:02] Yeah.
[00:19:02] That showed a little bit more chops.
[00:19:04] It did.
[00:19:05] But like.
[00:19:05] What drives you nuts.
[00:19:06] Is like.
[00:19:06] When you think back.
[00:19:07] And you think to like.
[00:19:09] When he did.
[00:19:11] The rundown.
[00:19:12] Okay.
[00:19:13] I mean.
[00:19:13] That's not.
[00:19:15] Him.
[00:19:16] Like.
[00:19:16] Like.
[00:19:16] It was like.
[00:19:17] As his earlier stuff.
[00:19:19] Walking Tall.
[00:19:20] Walking Tall.
[00:19:21] Yeah.
[00:19:21] That's a badass movie.
[00:19:22] Did you ever see that?
[00:19:23] No.
[00:19:23] Like I have.
[00:19:24] I'm trying to think of the one.
[00:19:28] It was.
[00:19:28] Written and directed by the same guy.
[00:19:30] Who did.
[00:19:30] Donnie Darko.
[00:19:32] Oh god.
[00:19:33] Yeah.
[00:19:35] But he.
[00:19:35] He was like.
[00:19:36] It was like his like.
[00:19:37] First like.
[00:19:38] Or second starring role.
[00:19:39] I think he did the Scorpion King.
[00:19:41] And then he did this.
[00:19:42] Yeah.
[00:19:45] What a horrible movie.
[00:19:46] Scorpion King.
[00:19:48] I gotta look it up.
[00:19:48] Cause like.
[00:19:49] It was like actually like.
[00:19:51] Was that the one.
[00:19:55] It wasn't the one.
[00:19:57] Is that the one with.
[00:19:59] Was there a parody made.
[00:20:01] Of the Scorpion King?
[00:20:03] I don't think there was ever a parody made.
[00:20:04] I mean.
[00:20:05] I know they did.
[00:20:05] Multiple versions.
[00:20:06] Like.
[00:20:07] You know.
[00:20:07] Wasn't there one where.
[00:20:08] Remember where they.
[00:20:09] Oh my god.
[00:20:09] It just got so ridiculous.
[00:20:10] Or was that the mummy.
[00:20:11] I can't even remember.
[00:20:12] It wasn't the mummy.
[00:20:14] Wasn't Snoop Dogg in that blimp.
[00:20:16] What?
[00:20:19] Remember the blimp.
[00:20:20] The airship.
[00:20:22] No.
[00:20:23] I swear to god.
[00:20:24] I saw a version of it.
[00:20:25] Where Snoop Dogg was doing the airship.
[00:20:26] It must have been a Super Bowl commercial.
[00:20:28] Maybe.
[00:20:29] The movie was called Southland Tales.
[00:20:30] Okay.
[00:20:32] Hmm.
[00:20:33] And it was like this time.
[00:20:34] Like it was a mind.
[00:20:35] Like.
[00:20:35] I mean.
[00:20:36] The guy who did Darko.
[00:20:37] I mean.
[00:20:37] Anything he does.
[00:20:38] Is like just a mind fuck of a movie.
[00:20:42] And like.
[00:20:42] Who did Darko.
[00:20:44] It doesn't matter.
[00:20:45] Go ahead.
[00:20:46] Yeah.
[00:20:46] The guy who did Darko.
[00:20:47] Is Richard Kelly.
[00:20:49] Okay.
[00:20:50] Okay.
[00:20:50] Okay.
[00:20:50] Did you see Donnie Darko?
[00:20:52] Mm-mm.
[00:20:52] I did not.
[00:20:53] It's hard for me.
[00:20:54] It's a hard watcher for me.
[00:20:57] It's a very good movie.
[00:20:58] But.
[00:20:58] It is.
[00:20:59] It's one of those ones.
[00:21:00] I think I've watched it twice.
[00:21:03] It's excellent.
[00:21:04] Yeah.
[00:21:05] I just.
[00:21:05] I can't get past the.
[00:21:08] Thing in the mask.
[00:21:11] Really.
[00:21:12] Frank the bunny.
[00:21:13] Yes.
[00:21:14] Okay.
[00:21:15] I get it now.
[00:21:18] It just bothers the shit out of me.
[00:21:21] And that's probably why I think it's so good.
[00:21:23] Yeah.
[00:21:24] And he also did a movie called The Box.
[00:21:26] Yeah.
[00:21:27] Which was like.
[00:21:28] Another like.
[00:21:30] Like.
[00:21:31] He.
[00:21:31] Like Richard Kelly almost became the next M night.
[00:21:36] Cause like everything he was doing was like.
[00:21:39] Mind fuck movies.
[00:21:40] Right.
[00:21:40] Yeah.
[00:21:41] But Southland Tales was just.
[00:21:42] It was weird.
[00:21:43] Mm.
[00:21:44] It was.
[00:21:45] You know.
[00:21:45] There was time travel involved.
[00:21:47] And all sorts of.
[00:21:49] Crazy shit.
[00:21:50] And I.
[00:21:50] It was just an oddball movie.
[00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:53] Yeah.
[00:21:53] But um.
[00:21:53] But that.
[00:21:54] He was in that.
[00:21:55] And I mean.
[00:21:55] It was a much different.
[00:21:59] Character than.
[00:22:00] Right.
[00:22:01] You know.
[00:22:02] I.
[00:22:02] I.
[00:22:03] Realized that he was in.
[00:22:07] Who?
[00:22:08] Dwayne Johnson.
[00:22:09] A movie called Unicorn Island.
[00:22:13] That does not surprise me.
[00:22:16] Unicorn Island.
[00:22:18] Yes.
[00:22:19] It was a Disney movie.
[00:22:21] Looks like.
[00:22:23] Hmm.
[00:22:24] No.
[00:22:25] It's documentary.
[00:22:26] Oh.
[00:22:27] Yeah.
[00:22:28] Wasn't he in Bedknobs and Broomsticks?
[00:22:31] Oh.
[00:22:31] No.
[00:22:32] But he did like.
[00:22:33] The new version of it?
[00:22:34] He did a lot of.
[00:22:35] Voice.
[00:22:36] He was in Moana.
[00:22:37] Right.
[00:22:38] We know that.
[00:22:38] But he also did like.
[00:22:40] The Tooth Fairy.
[00:22:42] Yeah.
[00:22:42] Tooth Fairy.
[00:22:42] Longest movie.
[00:22:43] The Game Plan.
[00:22:44] The Game Plan.
[00:22:45] That was the longest movie.
[00:22:47] It was the Game Plan was the longest movie.
[00:22:50] But.
[00:22:50] Yeah.
[00:22:50] I think the Game Plan went on for like three hours.
[00:22:53] It did not.
[00:22:56] I'm telling you.
[00:22:58] But he did like.
[00:22:59] He made his chops.
[00:23:01] I think I took the girls down to the movie theater.
[00:23:02] I'm sitting in the theater like.
[00:23:04] It was an hour and 52 minutes.
[00:23:06] It was not three hours.
[00:23:07] That's pretty long.
[00:23:08] Yeah.
[00:23:08] Two hours.
[00:23:09] Yeah.
[00:23:09] But that's where he cut his acting chops was with Disney movies.
[00:23:13] He also did that.
[00:23:15] I swear he was in the Bed-Nosed and Brick Sticks.
[00:23:17] No.
[00:23:17] He did.
[00:23:18] He was in the.
[00:23:20] Escape the Witch Mountain.
[00:23:20] Escape the Witch Mountain.
[00:23:22] Yeah.
[00:23:22] Same difference.
[00:23:23] It is not the same.
[00:23:24] No.
[00:23:24] It is not.
[00:23:25] The movie.
[00:23:26] The movie.
[00:23:26] He was in Baywatch too.
[00:23:29] Yeah.
[00:23:30] Him and.
[00:23:33] The movie.
[00:23:34] The movie.
[00:23:34] The movie.
[00:23:35] Yeah.
[00:23:36] Him and old whatchamacallit.
[00:23:39] Yeah.
[00:23:39] He didn't have the cod piece in the original one.
[00:23:42] I'm just kidding.
[00:23:43] I'm just kidding.
[00:23:46] The old Hoff.
[00:23:48] Old Hoff and his dangler.
[00:23:50] Oh my gosh.
[00:23:56] Those Bermuda Shores need to be pulled out a little bit more, everybody.
[00:24:01] I shouldn't be able to tell what religion you are.
[00:24:04] End of the show.
[00:24:05] He never made it onto the beach.
[00:24:06] Yeah.
[00:24:07] It was just in the control room.
[00:24:13] Anyway.
[00:24:14] Yeah.
[00:24:14] No, we wanted to see the Hoff running in slow motion.
[00:24:16] No.
[00:24:17] No.
[00:24:18] That's for the young kids.
[00:24:20] Yeah.
[00:24:21] The.
[00:24:23] What else was I going to tell you?
[00:24:25] We watched Beetlejuice.
[00:24:27] Oh.
[00:24:28] The new Beetlejuice.
[00:24:29] Yeah.
[00:24:31] Oh, that's a face out.
[00:24:32] That was a lame duck.
[00:24:34] Really?
[00:24:35] Two hours of our lives we'll never get back.
[00:24:38] Yeah.
[00:24:39] It was pretty bad.
[00:24:40] It was bad.
[00:24:41] Michael Keaton parts were good.
[00:24:43] Michael Keaton parts were perfect.
[00:24:47] See, I.
[00:24:48] What's her name?
[00:24:50] Stranger Things Girl.
[00:24:52] She's not in it.
[00:24:54] The girl from Adam's family is.
[00:24:56] No.
[00:24:57] No.
[00:24:57] The mom.
[00:24:59] Oh.
[00:25:01] Winona Ryder.
[00:25:01] Winona Ryder.
[00:25:02] Like.
[00:25:02] I thought you were talking about.
[00:25:04] No, I know.
[00:25:05] You.
[00:25:05] No.
[00:25:05] Yeah.
[00:25:06] Winona Ryder.
[00:25:07] Like.
[00:25:08] Like she could do that wrong.
[00:25:10] Like I'd watch her.
[00:25:12] She was good.
[00:25:13] She was.
[00:25:13] But it was not great.
[00:25:15] The part that she played was.
[00:25:17] Yeah.
[00:25:17] Like.
[00:25:18] And what I've noticed is.
[00:25:20] What I've noticed with.
[00:25:22] Um.
[00:25:23] Winona Ryder.
[00:25:24] Is.
[00:25:25] She now sounds.
[00:25:27] Like the grandmother.
[00:25:29] In Edward Scissorhands.
[00:25:32] No shit.
[00:25:34] Well, I mean.
[00:25:34] Let's.
[00:25:35] If you close your eyes.
[00:25:36] You can see her in that horrible makeup.
[00:25:37] That Tim Burton put on her neck.
[00:25:39] Like.
[00:25:40] I'm sure that's many years.
[00:25:41] A smoker's cough.
[00:25:43] Probably.
[00:25:44] Yeah.
[00:25:45] But.
[00:25:45] It was.
[00:25:46] Oh.
[00:25:47] If you close your eyes.
[00:25:47] You can just see it.
[00:25:50] It's like listening to Stevie Nicks sing Silent Night in 1984.
[00:25:54] Yeah.
[00:25:56] Silent Night.
[00:25:57] Stevie.
[00:25:58] Get off the coke and the cigarettes.
[00:26:01] But.
[00:26:02] It was not.
[00:26:05] There was.
[00:26:06] There was no character development.
[00:26:07] Uh uh.
[00:26:08] Whatsoever.
[00:26:08] Awful.
[00:26:09] Yeah.
[00:26:09] Like none.
[00:26:10] They had.
[00:26:11] They started.
[00:26:12] With some good characters.
[00:26:13] Yeah.
[00:26:14] And then.
[00:26:14] They just.
[00:26:15] Dissipated.
[00:26:16] Yeah.
[00:26:16] Just dissipated.
[00:26:17] Just like.
[00:26:17] Like you never got to know these characters that they were introducing.
[00:26:20] Yeah.
[00:26:21] Like it was very reminiscent of.
[00:26:26] Which was a far better movie.
[00:26:27] But.
[00:26:27] Men in Black.
[00:26:28] The one with.
[00:26:31] Uh.
[00:26:32] What's her name?
[00:26:36] Rosario Dawson.
[00:26:37] No.
[00:26:38] Maybe.
[00:26:38] It was the Men in Black where she.
[00:26:41] Came in.
[00:26:42] It started off with her.
[00:26:44] And she took over the.
[00:26:45] Oh.
[00:26:46] Central.
[00:26:46] And.
[00:26:47] Killed.
[00:26:48] What's his name?
[00:26:48] I think.
[00:26:49] And.
[00:26:52] What.
[00:26:53] Everybody's on her shit all the time.
[00:26:54] Because she always.
[00:26:54] She's always looked anorexic.
[00:26:56] And.
[00:26:57] Where her body was.
[00:26:58] Remember?
[00:27:00] Pretty lady.
[00:27:03] She was like a shapeshifter almost.
[00:27:05] You're talking like.
[00:27:07] She wore black.
[00:27:08] Yeah.
[00:27:09] Of course she did.
[00:27:10] You're talking the fourth Men in Black with.
[00:27:12] The international one.
[00:27:13] In 2017.
[00:27:14] I think that's the one.
[00:27:15] What's her name?
[00:27:16] Um.
[00:27:17] Oh wait.
[00:27:17] I don't know.
[00:27:20] Because it had the woman who.
[00:27:21] From.
[00:27:21] Tessa Thompson?
[00:27:22] Yeah.
[00:27:22] Tessa Thompson.
[00:27:24] She was like the.
[00:27:25] She played the Valkyrie.
[00:27:26] And.
[00:27:27] The Thor movies.
[00:27:28] Wasn't her.
[00:27:29] Rebecca Ferguson?
[00:27:37] Nah.
[00:27:37] None of these people.
[00:27:40] Nah.
[00:27:40] It was.
[00:27:40] It was the one before that.
[00:27:43] I was going to say.
[00:27:43] I will not stand for any Rebecca Ferguson.
[00:27:45] And her go on.
[00:27:46] Dick kicker.
[00:27:49] I'm trying to think.
[00:27:50] Is it.
[00:27:56] Men in Black 2?
[00:27:57] Yeah.
[00:27:57] I was going to ask you.
[00:27:58] Is it the second?
[00:27:58] Maybe it was second.
[00:28:02] Laura Boyle?
[00:28:03] Is it Laura Boyle?
[00:28:05] Is it Laura Boyle?
[00:28:06] Rosaria Dawson.
[00:28:07] We talked about her.
[00:28:08] Yeah.
[00:28:10] It has to be Laura.
[00:28:11] Laura Boyle.
[00:28:11] That's who you're talking about.
[00:28:12] Her.
[00:28:14] Yes.
[00:28:15] Okay.
[00:28:15] Yeah.
[00:28:15] That's Men in Black 2.
[00:28:16] Yeah.
[00:28:16] Okay.
[00:28:17] But it started off like that.
[00:28:19] Like.
[00:28:19] You know.
[00:28:20] Woman out of the woodwork.
[00:28:21] And all of a sudden.
[00:28:21] You know.
[00:28:23] Shit's getting crazy.
[00:28:24] And she became a.
[00:28:26] They developed the character.
[00:28:27] Yeah.
[00:28:28] In Men in Black.
[00:28:30] With this one in Beetlejuice.
[00:28:31] They never developed the character.
[00:28:33] She like came to life.
[00:28:34] And all of a sudden.
[00:28:36] Is it?
[00:28:37] You barely saw her?
[00:28:38] Yeah.
[00:28:39] Yeah.
[00:28:39] It was weird.
[00:28:40] It had some good parts to it.
[00:28:42] It's just.
[00:28:42] Like there were good pieces.
[00:28:44] Good actors.
[00:28:45] Bad scripts.
[00:28:45] Defoe was horrible.
[00:28:47] And I'm saying that.
[00:28:48] And I'm a Defoe fan.
[00:28:49] Yeah.
[00:28:50] I am a huge William Defoe fan.
[00:28:53] And he was awful.
[00:28:55] It's a bad script.
[00:28:56] That sucks.
[00:28:58] Keaton was great.
[00:28:59] Yeah.
[00:29:00] Well you expect that from Keaton.
[00:29:01] Yeah.
[00:29:01] But I mean.
[00:29:02] His character is really one dimensional.
[00:29:04] Yeah.
[00:29:04] I mean.
[00:29:04] You don't have to get.
[00:29:05] Everybody knows Beetlejuice.
[00:29:06] Yeah.
[00:29:06] And the way he acts.
[00:29:07] And stuff like that.
[00:29:08] I mean.
[00:29:08] You know.
[00:29:09] You feed on a bunch of one liners.
[00:29:11] He's good to you.
[00:29:12] Yeah.
[00:29:12] He delivers.
[00:29:14] He was great.
[00:29:15] Yeah.
[00:29:15] The rest of it was just.
[00:29:17] Not good.
[00:29:18] It wasn't.
[00:29:19] They didn't bring back Gina Davis.
[00:29:20] And of course.
[00:29:21] What's.
[00:29:22] Baldwin.
[00:29:22] Yeah.
[00:29:23] They're gone.
[00:29:24] They killed the dad off.
[00:29:25] You know that.
[00:29:26] They had to.
[00:29:27] Yeah.
[00:29:27] I heard that.
[00:29:27] Yeah.
[00:29:28] Well they had to.
[00:29:28] Yeah.
[00:29:28] They had to.
[00:29:29] Yeah.
[00:29:29] They ran him through the ringer.
[00:29:32] Sort of.
[00:29:32] Yeah.
[00:29:33] So.
[00:29:34] It just.
[00:29:34] I mean.
[00:29:35] It was okay.
[00:29:37] Yeah.
[00:29:38] It was kind of disappointing.
[00:29:39] I was expecting a lot more.
[00:29:40] And it was just.
[00:29:41] Especially with.
[00:29:41] What's her name in it too.
[00:29:43] From.
[00:29:44] Yeah.
[00:29:44] From Wednesday.
[00:29:45] Oh.
[00:29:46] Wednesday.
[00:29:47] Yeah.
[00:29:47] Well especially from her.
[00:29:48] She.
[00:29:49] She delivered a pretty good performance too.
[00:29:50] General.
[00:29:51] General.
[00:29:52] Yes.
[00:29:52] Yeah.
[00:29:53] From.
[00:29:53] Wednesday.
[00:29:54] From.
[00:29:54] And then.
[00:29:55] The woman from Schitt's Creek.
[00:29:57] I can't think of her name.
[00:29:58] Oh yeah.
[00:29:59] Catherine O'Hara.
[00:29:59] Catherine O'Hara.
[00:30:00] Yeah.
[00:30:00] She was perfect.
[00:30:01] Yeah.
[00:30:01] She did a very good job.
[00:30:02] Yeah.
[00:30:02] She was.
[00:30:03] She.
[00:30:04] She.
[00:30:05] She redid the role that she loved off of.
[00:30:08] I expect to have a good from Catherine O'Hara.
[00:30:10] She's perfect.
[00:30:11] Like.
[00:30:11] She's just that good.
[00:30:13] She is that good.
[00:30:14] Has been for years.
[00:30:16] Yeah.
[00:30:18] Yeah.
[00:30:19] Really good.
[00:30:19] So anyway.
[00:30:20] There's that.
[00:30:22] I think that's all we want.
[00:30:23] Don't spend money on it.
[00:30:24] Just wait till it's on something for free.
[00:30:26] Yeah.
[00:30:29] I know Wolverine and Deadpool is going to be on Disney Plus this week.
[00:30:33] Oh.
[00:30:34] Is it?
[00:30:34] Yeah.
[00:30:36] Awesome.
[00:30:39] So I'll be able to watch that.
[00:30:41] It's very good.
[00:30:42] You haven't seen it yet?
[00:30:44] No, I haven't.
[00:30:46] I did start watching.
[00:30:48] I found out that the 1984 anime Bubblegum Crisis is on Peacock.
[00:30:56] Yes.
[00:30:58] I loved that back in the day.
[00:31:02] And I'm remembering, finding out why I loved it that much back in the day.
[00:31:05] Uh-huh.
[00:31:05] Because today I'm watching and going, well, this is batshit crazy.
[00:31:10] I never watched it.
[00:31:12] Well, you weren't big on anime.
[00:31:13] Were you?
[00:31:14] Uh-uh.
[00:31:16] I mean, the basic concept is it's like, you know, 2039 Tokyo.
[00:31:21] You know, of course.
[00:31:24] And four women in battle suits, like mechanized battle suits, fight to save New Tokyo from boomers, which are basically Terminators.
[00:31:40] I don't know.
[00:31:42] I don't know why that's on my phone.
[00:31:45] I don't know why I get ESPN updates.
[00:31:47] It sounds like bloatware, probably.
[00:31:49] All of a sudden, it just started happening like two weeks ago.
[00:31:52] Yeah.
[00:31:54] Anyway.
[00:31:55] It happened once, I dropped my phone.
[00:31:57] Right.
[00:31:58] Tell me.
[00:31:59] Because it's so loud.
[00:32:00] It's louder than my notifications.
[00:32:03] Yeah.
[00:32:03] Like, what the fuck?
[00:32:05] Yeah.
[00:32:05] Something in your setting.
[00:32:06] Just to tell me that, you know.
[00:32:08] Pitt's starting.
[00:32:09] Alabama and LSU is playing.
[00:32:11] Oh.
[00:32:11] Yeah.
[00:32:12] Like, I don't care.
[00:32:15] Well, I mean.
[00:32:17] That's a massive.
[00:32:18] Yeah.
[00:32:19] That's a good game.
[00:32:19] Yeah.
[00:32:21] Anyway.
[00:32:24] What was I saying?
[00:32:25] I don't know.
[00:32:26] You were talking about your anime.
[00:32:27] Well, Bumblebee crisis, yeah.
[00:32:29] So, like, yeah.
[00:32:29] Thank God you're here.
[00:32:30] Yeah.
[00:32:30] Thank you.
[00:32:31] So, yeah.
[00:32:32] It's batshit crazy.
[00:32:33] I do know.
[00:32:34] Four chicks and mechs.
[00:32:35] Yeah.
[00:32:36] Fighting with basically overgrown Terminators.
[00:32:40] Oh, nice.
[00:32:41] Yeah.
[00:32:41] It could.
[00:32:43] I mean, I'm still enjoying it.
[00:32:46] But I think I'm enjoying it more from a nostalgia standpoint.
[00:32:49] Okay.
[00:32:49] Of like, okay, yeah, I remember this.
[00:32:53] This is cool.
[00:32:54] Like, and I mean, and on top of it, like, you get, like, amazing J-pop.
[00:32:59] Because, of course, one of the women in the suits is also a front woman for a rock band.
[00:33:09] And so.
[00:33:10] Jim and the Holograms?
[00:33:12] Even better.
[00:33:13] Oh, okay.
[00:33:13] Pris and the Replicants.
[00:33:14] Oh.
[00:33:15] Pris.
[00:33:16] Yeah.
[00:33:17] So, let me.
[00:33:20] You're going to play Pris and the Replicants?
[00:33:23] Yeah.
[00:33:23] Here, here, here, here, here's a little.
[00:33:31] I guess it was in the 80s, huh?
[00:33:33] Oh, yeah.
[00:33:35] Yeah.
[00:33:38] They can see you in a second.
[00:33:40] They get a thing?
[00:33:41] Oh, yeah.
[00:33:42] They do.
[00:33:44] It's not like bad Japanese carriers.
[00:33:46] Is it?
[00:33:47] A bit, yeah.
[00:33:50] Nice.
[00:33:53] Not racist.
[00:33:55] I didn't feel it good.
[00:34:04] Oh, yeah.
[00:34:05] That's very.
[00:34:06] Yeah.
[00:34:06] Very touching.
[00:34:07] Yeah.
[00:34:08] I got it.
[00:34:11] That's the album cover.
[00:34:15] Yeah.
[00:34:18] Very 80s.
[00:34:19] Yeah.
[00:34:19] Oh, it is.
[00:34:19] It's extremely 80s.
[00:34:21] Like, they did another.
[00:34:22] Like, they did Bubblegum Crisis.
[00:34:25] And then, like, that's like one season.
[00:34:27] I think it's like 14 or 15 episodes.
[00:34:30] And then they did Bubblegum Crash, which I actually never saw.
[00:34:32] So, I can't wait to, like, watch that to see how batshit crazy that gets.
[00:34:37] And then in the 90s, they did a reboot of it called Bubblegum Crisis 2049, which is even more batshit crazy.
[00:34:44] Now, I have all of this on DVD, but it's been years since I've watched any of it.
[00:34:48] Okay.
[00:34:48] So, you're just not even busting out the DVD.
[00:34:50] No.
[00:34:51] I mean, like, I've thought about it from time to time.
[00:34:54] Like, I got this.
[00:34:55] I should watch this sometime.
[00:34:56] And, like, you know, the effort of digging it out is always like, yeah, fuck it.
[00:35:01] Okay.
[00:35:02] But I found it on streaming.
[00:35:04] I'm like, well, fuck this.
[00:35:05] I'm watching this.
[00:35:06] And I'm like, holy fuck, this is crazy.
[00:35:09] What else have you been watching?
[00:35:10] That's been it.
[00:35:11] I've been watching that.
[00:35:12] I did watch, uh...
[00:35:15] I've been watching Tulsi King.
[00:35:21] Okay.
[00:35:22] And, uh, The Penguin.
[00:35:24] And you haven't watched the new season of The Lord of the Rings yet?
[00:35:27] No, I have not.
[00:35:28] I gotta catch up with that.
[00:35:30] We've been watching that.
[00:35:31] Yeah, we've been watching that.
[00:35:32] Yeah.
[00:35:32] It's good.
[00:35:34] Yeah, I gotta sit down and watch that.
[00:35:37] What are your overall thoughts of The Lord of the Rings?
[00:35:40] To both of you.
[00:35:42] Well, I mean, I like the first season of Rings of Power a lot.
[00:35:46] Uh-huh.
[00:35:47] So, I do want to watch the second season.
[00:35:51] I just haven't gotten around to it.
[00:35:52] But, I mean, I've been looking forward to it.
[00:35:54] I'm intrigued to see where it goes.
[00:35:56] How about you?
[00:35:56] Well, you saw me on the edge of my seat watching that one.
[00:35:59] Yeah.
[00:36:01] On the show, I sit like this.
[00:36:03] Right, right.
[00:36:03] On the edge of my seat watching that.
[00:36:06] It's good?
[00:36:06] It's a good one.
[00:36:07] Is it good?
[00:36:08] Mm-hmm.
[00:36:09] Yeah, it's...
[00:36:11] I just like the way it's done.
[00:36:12] I mean, you can tell it's probably one...
[00:36:13] Yeah.
[00:36:14] It's the most expensive series ever made.
[00:36:16] Yeah.
[00:36:17] I mean, you can tell.
[00:36:18] Yeah.
[00:36:18] Yeah.
[00:36:20] It shows on the screen.
[00:36:21] Yeah.
[00:36:22] Every part of it looks like the movie.
[00:36:24] Yeah.
[00:36:25] It looks like a movie.
[00:36:26] Right.
[00:36:26] What you're watching.
[00:36:27] There's nothing.
[00:36:28] Yeah.
[00:36:28] The CGI is so well done, it looks real.
[00:36:31] Yeah.
[00:36:32] Mm-hmm.
[00:36:32] Yeah.
[00:36:34] Yeah.
[00:36:34] Because you know that they're in front of a green screen for the most part.
[00:36:37] They have to be.
[00:36:38] Yeah.
[00:36:38] I mean, some of the landscape shots there were...
[00:36:41] I mean, that's New Zealand for sure.
[00:36:42] No, I agree.
[00:36:43] But, like, when they're in Moria...
[00:36:48] Yeah, yeah.
[00:36:48] Yeah, I get it.
[00:36:49] Yeah, that's all green screen.
[00:36:50] Yeah, yeah.
[00:36:50] Yeah, there's no set.
[00:36:52] You know?
[00:36:52] Right.
[00:36:54] Stuff like that is...
[00:36:55] You know, but it looks really good.
[00:36:57] Mm-hmm.
[00:36:57] You know, you believe you're there.
[00:36:59] You know?
[00:37:00] So...
[00:37:01] It's nice to visit the world again.
[00:37:05] It is.
[00:37:06] I mean, I think it suffers a little bit from prequel-itis that you know what's going to happen.
[00:37:13] Like, you know where all these people are marching to.
[00:37:17] Yes.
[00:37:18] Yeah.
[00:37:18] You know what I mean?
[00:37:19] Like, you know, like, okay, well, I know that character's not going to die and that character...
[00:37:22] No matter how, like, desperate the situation is, like, Arwen is never going to die.
[00:37:30] Right.
[00:37:31] Like, it's no matter what.
[00:37:33] Like, maybe there are some side characters who are like, well, I'd never heard of that
[00:37:36] person before.
[00:37:36] They're going to get it.
[00:37:37] Yeah.
[00:37:38] Yeah, they're ensigns in Star Trek.
[00:37:40] Yeah.
[00:37:41] You know, but...
[00:37:41] Here's Pete.
[00:37:43] Oh, yeah.
[00:37:43] Like, he...
[00:37:43] He's in charge downstairs in the engine room.
[00:37:45] But it's also that thing, like, they could be a main character, but because, like, they're
[00:37:48] not mentioned in the books, they're expendable at some point.
[00:37:52] Right.
[00:37:52] And you can use that character and build them and take them to a death that makes you feel
[00:37:57] like, okay, the stakes are real because that main character died.
[00:38:00] But that main character, I know, isn't in the books.
[00:38:05] Right.
[00:38:05] So their death...
[00:38:06] No harm, no foul.
[00:38:07] Right.
[00:38:08] Right.
[00:38:08] You know what I mean?
[00:38:09] So it does suffer a little bit of that, but at the same time, like, the journey can be
[00:38:17] interesting.
[00:38:18] Right.
[00:38:19] Which is what I'm kind of, like, looking at it.
[00:38:22] With any prequel, I kind of look at it that way.
[00:38:25] Like, I know the destination, but how do we get there?
[00:38:28] Like, what's the journey to get there?
[00:38:30] Yeah.
[00:38:31] Journey's been good so far.
[00:38:33] It is.
[00:38:34] I mean, we suffer the same thing with, like, the Star Wars prequels.
[00:38:40] Ugh.
[00:38:42] But you knew, like, the problem became, like, you know, this is the destination for Anakin
[00:38:49] at the end of this.
[00:38:50] Oh, yeah.
[00:38:50] This is the destination for Obi-Wan at the end of this.
[00:38:52] This is, you know, who...
[00:38:54] All these people were expendable.
[00:38:56] This person, Yoda, is going to end up here.
[00:38:58] You know, like, this is the shit that you knew was going to happen.
[00:39:01] Right.
[00:39:01] So, in a way, some of the drama is taken away.
[00:39:09] Because you know what the destination is.
[00:39:11] But the interesting thing is, like, the journey to get there.
[00:39:14] Which is what I think, like, that's what made The Walking Dead so good for a long time.
[00:39:22] Like, you honestly thought at any moment Rick or Daryl could die.
[00:39:26] Like, they cared that little about main characters.
[00:39:29] Yeah, they did.
[00:39:30] Like, we will raise the stakes and we will take out a beloved character at any moment.
[00:39:36] Yeah, they did.
[00:39:37] You know.
[00:39:40] And that's...
[00:39:41] Yeah, you're right about The Dead.
[00:39:42] That's what I think.
[00:39:43] That's part of...
[00:39:44] Yeah.
[00:39:44] That's part of why it kept the show going, though.
[00:39:46] Yeah.
[00:39:48] Because even though, like, you could sit there and say, well, in the comic book this didn't happen.
[00:39:52] They were ignoring the comic...
[00:39:53] Like, they were using the comic book only as, like, a guide.
[00:39:56] They weren't going via verbatim.
[00:39:58] Right.
[00:39:59] So...
[00:40:00] Except certain things.
[00:40:02] Except certain things, but, like...
[00:40:04] Well, the reason they didn't take Rick's hand off is because it's too expensive CGI-wise to do every episode.
[00:40:09] Right.
[00:40:10] I mean, that's why they kept the hand.
[00:40:12] Right.
[00:40:13] The Negan part was pretty on the money.
[00:40:15] Yes.
[00:40:15] Yeah.
[00:40:17] But, I mean, like, my point is it's...
[00:40:19] I know.
[00:40:19] Like, it was just...
[00:40:20] It was a situation where, like, when asked by fans, Robert Kirkman was like, I already told this story.
[00:40:28] Like, I've already...
[00:40:29] Why would I want to tell that story a second time?
[00:40:31] That's boring.
[00:40:32] Let me take the generalities of the story and mix it up and play with it.
[00:40:36] Yeah.
[00:40:36] And that's what he did.
[00:40:38] And introduce new characters.
[00:40:39] Right.
[00:40:41] Like, you know, Daryl was never in the original comic books.
[00:40:43] No, he wasn't.
[00:40:44] No, I know.
[00:40:44] You know.
[00:40:47] They're like Resident Evil.
[00:40:49] She was never in the games.
[00:40:52] Yeah.
[00:40:53] Yeah.
[00:40:54] I agree.
[00:40:55] But, I mean, like...
[00:40:57] But when you have, like...
[00:40:59] It's that funny thing of, like, when you have something like a...
[00:41:02] Like a comic book.
[00:41:04] Yeah.
[00:41:06] People want you to stick to it.
[00:41:07] Like, that's the story.
[00:41:09] Yeah.
[00:41:10] You know.
[00:41:12] Like, Marvel does it, too.
[00:41:14] Fox doesn't.
[00:41:18] Well...
[00:41:19] Like, I get poetic.
[00:41:20] I mean, I understand the whole changing of things.
[00:41:24] Right.
[00:41:24] Like, let's face it back.
[00:41:24] I mean, if they wanted to change the Inferna series.
[00:41:27] Or, you know, like...
[00:41:28] Or whatever series they're doing with the X-Men.
[00:41:31] I don't care.
[00:41:32] But when they start...
[00:41:34] Like I said, I've said this before.
[00:41:35] They've fucked around too much with what was going on.
[00:41:39] Like, Iceman.
[00:41:41] I mean, there was...
[00:41:43] There was a lot of things they messed up.
[00:41:45] But I think it worked for The Walking Dead.
[00:41:47] I enjoyed reading.
[00:41:48] Seeing the show.
[00:41:49] And reading the books separate.
[00:41:51] You did?
[00:41:52] I did.
[00:41:52] Yeah.
[00:41:53] Well, I agree.
[00:41:54] I think it worked to a point.
[00:41:56] Like, I reached a point...
[00:41:58] The question you always ask somebody is,
[00:42:01] how do you want to get to them?
[00:42:01] Well, when did you stop watching The Walking Dead?
[00:42:04] Oh, I stuck it out to the end.
[00:42:06] Did you?
[00:42:06] Okay.
[00:42:07] Good for you.
[00:42:09] I was...
[00:42:09] Yeah.
[00:42:10] I applaud.
[00:42:12] It was terrible at the end, but I stuck it out.
[00:42:15] Like, I got to the war.
[00:42:17] And when the war lasted six episodes,
[00:42:19] like, one day was like six episodes.
[00:42:21] I was like, okay, I'm fucking done.
[00:42:23] I can't do it anymore.
[00:42:25] When Negan was trapped in the trailer with the past,
[00:42:29] I was like, that's it.
[00:42:30] I'm done.
[00:42:31] Calling it the night.
[00:42:32] See, I had to watch it because I knew it was different from the comic.
[00:42:36] Yeah.
[00:42:36] I had to see what was going to happen.
[00:42:38] Yeah.
[00:42:39] No, I get that.
[00:42:40] I get that.
[00:42:41] And I mean...
[00:42:42] And I know...
[00:42:44] I just saw a trailer for...
[00:42:46] I stopped after Rick died.
[00:42:48] Yeah.
[00:42:48] But I saw a trailer for the second season of City of the Dead.
[00:42:55] Oh, it's Carol and Daryl.
[00:42:56] Well, it's Carol and Daryl, and then there's the...
[00:42:58] I know there was a second season of City of the Dead.
[00:43:00] Yes, there is.
[00:43:00] The Negan one, yeah.
[00:43:01] It's coming out.
[00:43:01] Yeah, I want to watch that.
[00:43:02] Yeah.
[00:43:03] Like, he's like turning on the power in New York and shit.
[00:43:06] No shit.
[00:43:07] Yeah.
[00:43:07] Yeah.
[00:43:07] So, I mean, like, yeah, I just saw a trailer for that, and I was like, holy shit.
[00:43:10] That was a really good series.
[00:43:12] I know you were, like, enthralled with it.
[00:43:14] Yeah.
[00:43:14] So, when I saw that, I wanted to tell you.
[00:43:16] Make sure you see that.
[00:43:16] And I did like the Daryl one, too.
[00:43:18] Yeah.
[00:43:19] Because we watched the Daryl series.
[00:43:21] I thought the Daryl one was really good.
[00:43:24] Different.
[00:43:25] Yeah.
[00:43:25] Than City.
[00:43:29] But I really liked that one with Negan.
[00:43:31] Well, because him and Maggie had to work together.
[00:43:33] I know, but it was just Neil on.
[00:43:35] Oh, right.
[00:43:37] Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
[00:43:39] He's a great actor.
[00:43:40] He can do no wrong.
[00:43:42] No, I agree.
[00:43:43] And he comes to the plate every single time he plays a character.
[00:43:46] Yeah.
[00:43:47] Whether it be in, you know, Watchmen or frickin', whatever he's in.
[00:43:54] Denny on Grey's Anatomy.
[00:43:56] Yeah.
[00:43:56] Doesn't matter, man.
[00:43:57] He can come to the plate, and it's just, man, he's just on the money.
[00:44:02] Season one of Supernatural.
[00:44:04] Yeah, season one of Supernatural.
[00:44:04] Oh, I forgot he was in that.
[00:44:06] Yeah.
[00:44:07] Yeah, he's so good.
[00:44:08] Yeah.
[00:44:12] So, yeah, and the only reason for me to stick out the dead was because of Negan.
[00:44:17] Yeah.
[00:44:18] If I was going to continue watching it, he would be my only reason.
[00:44:22] Don't get me wrong.
[00:44:23] I like Daryl, but he just wasn't a main character, and he couldn't hold the show.
[00:44:30] Right.
[00:44:31] You know, and Rick was the frontrunner.
[00:44:32] It was about Rick.
[00:44:34] Do you know what I mean?
[00:44:35] Yeah.
[00:44:35] And when you get rid of Rick, the person that I've, well, except for the prison part,
[00:44:41] the person I found the most interest in, interesting, interesting.
[00:44:45] What the fuck did that come from?
[00:44:47] I don't know.
[00:44:47] It's fucking Southern coming.
[00:44:49] Yeah.
[00:44:51] Yeah.
[00:44:51] I just, you know, I just, I lost interest.
[00:44:53] Yeah.
[00:44:54] You know?
[00:44:55] I almost turned it off when Carl was eating pudding on the top.
[00:44:59] I almost did it for me.
[00:45:02] Not for me, because I was, like, kind of in the comic book.
[00:45:06] I don't remember it.
[00:45:07] He did eat pudding.
[00:45:08] Yeah.
[00:45:09] Pudding.
[00:45:09] Did you say pudding?
[00:45:10] That's what he said.
[00:45:11] Pudding.
[00:45:11] Pudding.
[00:45:12] Pudding.
[00:45:30] Pudding.
[00:45:30] Yeah.
[00:45:30] She was already dead, but the gunshot, the Carol shot was good.
[00:45:36] That's some good writing.
[00:45:38] You're talking about Carol and the Flowers?
[00:45:39] Carol and the Flowers.
[00:45:41] Carol and the Flowers.
[00:45:41] Yeah.
[00:45:41] Oh, that's.
[00:45:42] What's her name in the barn?
[00:45:44] Yeah.
[00:45:44] Or Carol's daughter.
[00:45:45] Carol's daughter in the barn.
[00:45:46] That scene from the, like, the silhouette of, like, Rick.
[00:45:51] Mm-hmm.
[00:45:51] Like, oh, you're such a badass.
[00:45:55] And then he just, he went to that, ugh.
[00:45:57] And he went to that prison, and it just, I, the dead wife, all of it was just kind of like,
[00:46:06] you're losing me, man.
[00:46:08] And then when the show came out, I was like, here we go.
[00:46:11] Yeah.
[00:46:12] Here comes Mr. Chops.
[00:46:13] Right?
[00:46:14] And then the show started, I'm like, don't start crying, bro.
[00:46:19] Just be the Rick that I know.
[00:46:21] I don't want to see your emotional side.
[00:46:23] Just fuck up some shit.
[00:46:25] And he kind of stayed that way.
[00:46:27] I liked how he was torn, but I don't like when he gets so torn out that he's like, he's got the red eye on, and he's fucking.
[00:46:35] And he kind of stayed that way all the way up until that moment where they run into that gang that, like, they had gotten split up, and, like, Daryl was with that gang.
[00:46:45] Mm-hmm.
[00:46:45] And, like, they were trying to take Carl, and, like, Rick was, like, ripping people's throats out with his mouth.
[00:46:53] Like, Daryl had to hand him a rag.
[00:46:56] He's like, you know, you got some blood on your beard.
[00:46:58] Yeah, even Daryl was like, he's fucking crazy.
[00:47:02] Yeah.
[00:47:03] This guy's crazy!
[00:47:05] And I'm crazy!
[00:47:08] Like, damn, motherfucker!
[00:47:10] I know!
[00:47:11] I know!
[00:47:12] I don't know.
[00:47:13] Where were we?
[00:47:15] How'd we get on a walking dead path?
[00:47:18] I don't know.
[00:47:20] We go on all sorts of direct.
[00:47:21] This is why we don't script a show.
[00:47:23] Yeah, I know.
[00:47:26] Like, people are, like, baffled by that.
[00:47:28] Like, I have a framework.
[00:47:30] Went from John Williams to Rick ripping out someone's throat with his teeth.
[00:47:34] The gentleman, John Williams.
[00:47:36] Like, this gentle soul who writes this beautiful music to Rick ripping out people's throats with his teeth.
[00:47:45] So, yeah, that whole, the Michelle, I couldn't, I just, I was done with it.
[00:47:50] It was bad.
[00:47:51] It was bad.
[00:47:52] I couldn't deal with that.
[00:47:54] Maybe he was channeling his inner love actually character.
[00:47:59] I don't know.
[00:48:04] I never saw Michelle.
[00:48:06] You never saw Michelle lose her shit like that.
[00:48:08] She still sliced people up.
[00:48:11] She never retired the swords.
[00:48:14] Really.
[00:48:16] She went through a sad period, though, on the show.
[00:48:19] Yeah, of course she did.
[00:48:20] The episodes I didn't watch.
[00:48:23] I'll just choose to remember Michelle and how I liked it in the show.
[00:48:26] Yeah, she went through a sad period.
[00:48:27] Well, when Rick was gone and she was stuck at home with the kids.
[00:48:32] Oh, God.
[00:48:34] Yeah.
[00:48:35] That's what I mean, Mike.
[00:48:36] I think it just wore out its welcome.
[00:48:39] I think it just wore itself out at the end.
[00:48:42] I did.
[00:48:43] I just didn't feel that.
[00:48:45] I mean, I don't want to say it went on too long because I don't think it did.
[00:48:48] But it just, it was, it is that question that you asked.
[00:48:53] Like, you know, I dropped out first.
[00:48:56] You dropped out second.
[00:48:57] You went the whole way through.
[00:48:58] Congratulations.
[00:48:58] Congratulations.
[00:48:59] You know.
[00:49:00] But it was so good in the beginning, right?
[00:49:02] It was just so good because, number one, there was that angst, right?
[00:49:05] You felt angst when you watched it.
[00:49:07] Because you never knew who was going to go.
[00:49:09] Right.
[00:49:09] Or you never knew where the walkers were going to come from.
[00:49:12] Or they were going to herd.
[00:49:13] Or there was that, there was more walker involvement as a danger.
[00:49:19] It was a character drama set in a zombie apocalypse.
[00:49:23] Right.
[00:49:23] It's just like, and I would never watch a character drama because that's not, but you said in the zombie apocalypse, I'm in.
[00:49:31] Yeah.
[00:49:31] You give me a movie about survivor's guilt and PTSD, I'm not watching.
[00:49:38] But you set that in 1940s Tokyo with Godzilla as a threat, I'm in.
[00:49:44] Right.
[00:49:46] I would never watch Godzilla minus one if it wasn't for Godzilla, but watching it allowed me to enjoy the rest of that amazing story that it told.
[00:49:54] Right, right.
[00:49:54] You know.
[00:49:55] And that's the same thing with, and when it reached a point of like, okay, I can't go on this journey any further.
[00:50:02] Right.
[00:50:03] You know.
[00:50:05] I know.
[00:50:08] I'll never give you up, Godzilla.
[00:50:10] You are my king.
[00:50:11] I can't.
[00:50:12] You love him.
[00:50:12] I do.
[00:50:14] When are they going to make an Ultraman movie?
[00:50:19] They have.
[00:50:20] Like in Japan.
[00:50:22] Oh, yeah.
[00:50:25] Like, I don't think it'll ever come to the States.
[00:50:27] No?
[00:50:28] No.
[00:50:29] But I mean, I know that they have made like Ultraman movies and stuff like that.
[00:50:34] They did do, there was a, there have been a couple of animes that they've released like on Netflix.
[00:50:41] Okay.
[00:50:41] I tried watching one and I was just like.
[00:50:44] Oof.
[00:50:45] Is it bad?
[00:50:45] It was rough.
[00:50:47] Yeah.
[00:50:48] Yeah.
[00:50:50] I can't go down this road.
[00:50:52] There's also, and I've heard people rave about it and I need to give it a second chance because I got like 10 minutes in this.
[00:50:57] I'm like, I need to turn this the fuck off.
[00:50:59] And there's an, there's a Terminator anime.
[00:51:02] Okay.
[00:51:03] And it's set in like 1984 Tokyo.
[00:51:06] Okay.
[00:51:06] And like, I got like 10 minutes into it.
[00:51:09] I'm like, I can't handle this.
[00:51:11] This is too much.
[00:51:12] Really?
[00:51:12] Because it was, it was just, I don't, I don't know.
[00:51:16] Like, it's like, it's that thing of like, you know, what's your expectation for a Terminator movie?
[00:51:23] Right.
[00:51:24] You know, well, this was not it.
[00:51:26] You know, I can't explain it.
[00:51:29] Yeah.
[00:51:30] Maybe I was just in the wrong state of mind to watch it.
[00:51:34] So I want to go back and give it another try because people have raved about how good it is.
[00:51:37] Yeah.
[00:51:38] And I'm like, man, I can't be that wrong.
[00:51:39] Well, you know, but.
[00:51:43] Hmm.
[00:51:47] No.
[00:51:47] Yeah.
[00:51:51] Do you?
[00:51:52] No.
[00:51:53] I don't want to chastise you.
[00:51:54] I just want to know your thoughts on that.
[00:51:56] Okay.
[00:51:57] So tell them what we're talking about.
[00:51:59] Okay.
[00:51:59] So we got into a conversation.
[00:52:01] Ian went and had a smoke.
[00:52:02] We paused the show.
[00:52:03] We come back and we were talking and we got into like the conversation of best Batman.
[00:52:10] There's a disagreement at the table.
[00:52:13] But then I made a statement, a controversial statement, apparently.
[00:52:16] Well, what's your favorite Batman?
[00:52:18] Michael Keaton.
[00:52:19] And what's your favorite Batman?
[00:52:21] Affleck.
[00:52:21] Okay.
[00:52:22] And yours?
[00:52:23] I don't think there's been one discovered yet.
[00:52:27] Oh.
[00:52:30] I don't.
[00:52:30] I don't think.
[00:52:31] You don't like any of the Batmans?
[00:52:33] I tolerate them.
[00:52:34] I like Christian Bale in the beginning.
[00:52:39] But when he did the whole Batman mask on cats bit for the rest of the series, I couldn't handle it anymore.
[00:52:50] Where is she?
[00:52:52] I mean, like that was, it was just too over the top.
[00:52:55] I understand what he was trying to do, but it was just kind of like, it didn't work.
[00:52:59] Affleck, it worked.
[00:53:02] Because he brought it on a little bit, but it wasn't over the top.
[00:53:05] Affleck was a good daredevil.
[00:53:12] He didn't like him?
[00:53:14] I don't think he was a bad daredevil, but when you compare him to the guy who plays him right now.
[00:53:21] In the show?
[00:53:22] Yeah.
[00:53:23] Oh, yeah, absolutely.
[00:53:25] But in the movie, he was a good.
[00:53:26] But like, Affleck was tied by a really bad movie.
[00:53:30] Like, I thought he played daredevil okay.
[00:53:34] But I don't blame Affleck for the failures of that movie as much as I do whoever wrote and directed it.
[00:53:40] And then edited it.
[00:53:43] Matt Damon's been in some bad movies, too.
[00:53:46] Oh, yeah, Matt Damon has.
[00:53:47] We bought a zoo.
[00:53:49] Oh, that was cute.
[00:53:51] Matt Damon sucks.
[00:53:55] So the controversial statement I made before we started recording, and Ian was like, you better hit record.
[00:54:02] We need to talk about this.
[00:54:04] In my opinion, Jared led us the best Joker.
[00:54:12] You're shaking your head.
[00:54:14] I'm going to disagree.
[00:54:16] But here's why I say that.
[00:54:19] Okay, that's what I want to hear.
[00:54:20] Okay.
[00:54:22] The first time I saw his Joker, I thought, that is really interesting on where he's taking it.
[00:54:30] And it felt like something that would have been done by, and I can't think of the guy's name.
[00:54:37] He wrote the comic book for a long time.
[00:54:41] The Batman comic book.
[00:54:43] And his version of the Joker was like David Bowie.
[00:54:49] Okay.
[00:54:50] He was like the thin white Duke.
[00:54:52] You know, and I read it.
[00:54:56] Like, I thought, like, I'm looking at that.
[00:54:58] I'm like, man, it looks like something that he would have done, like, the next iteration of the Joker.
[00:55:02] This is what the next iteration of the Joker would have been on the page.
[00:55:05] And I read an interview with Jared Leto talking about he talked to that guy about what the Joker should be.
[00:55:11] And this is what they came up with.
[00:55:13] So, to me, it's like the closest iteration of what you would have seen on the page.
[00:55:21] Okay.
[00:55:22] He was true to the character.
[00:55:23] Right.
[00:55:24] Like, as great as Heath Ledger's Joker is, he's not really the Joker.
[00:55:30] But that's only because...
[00:55:32] Nolan.
[00:55:33] Nolan.
[00:55:34] Like, he doesn't have the backstory of falling into the chemical vat, the insanity of coming out of that.
[00:55:41] Like, he's grease paint and makeup.
[00:55:44] Right.
[00:55:44] Like, he's more than likely probably somebody who is like a special ops guy who was probably trained by the League of Shadows in a way.
[00:55:55] And he's taken that knowledge and gone his own way.
[00:55:59] Okay.
[00:55:59] Like, that's how I always kind of visioned that character.
[00:56:03] And...
[00:56:06] But it's still...
[00:56:07] Because it's Nolan, it has to be rooted in reality.
[00:56:10] So, all the comic book aspects of that character get taken away.
[00:56:14] Okay.
[00:56:14] Okay.
[00:56:14] Fair.
[00:56:17] Nicholson's Joker...
[00:56:20] Like, it always felt like...
[00:56:24] He was trying to do everything he can just not to be Cesar Romero.
[00:56:28] Right.
[00:56:29] You know what I mean?
[00:56:30] Right.
[00:56:31] Like, that's how I honestly felt.
[00:56:33] Like, he just...
[00:56:34] He was doing everything he can.
[00:56:35] Like, the backstory...
[00:56:38] That he was a gangster, I wasn't exactly huge on.
[00:56:43] Like, I prefer...
[00:56:44] Like, if I think of the Joker's backstory, I do think of...
[00:56:50] The Killing Joke.
[00:56:52] Okay.
[00:56:52] Where the Joker was this down-on-his-luck comedian who was struggling.
[00:56:59] He had a pregnant wife.
[00:57:01] He got mixed up with the mob.
[00:57:03] They made him wear the red hood mask.
[00:57:06] And then he fell into the vat of, like, chemicals.
[00:57:08] Came out and he was insane.
[00:57:10] And, like, even he, like, at one point tells Batman, eh, I have an origin story, but I mix it up.
[00:57:18] It's not always the same.
[00:57:19] Like, we don't know.
[00:57:21] You know?
[00:57:22] Yeah.
[00:57:22] So, because that's how insane he is.
[00:57:23] So, like, I...
[00:57:24] Like, they're...
[00:57:26] But so, to me...
[00:57:28] I mean, Cesar Romero is fun.
[00:57:31] Right.
[00:57:32] But he's basically just being Cesar Romero.
[00:57:35] Yeah.
[00:57:36] And they may even shave his mustache.
[00:57:37] He's just, like, put white paint over it.
[00:57:39] You know?
[00:57:40] So, like, if you look at the Jokers over the years...
[00:57:43] Like, other than Mark Hamill...
[00:57:45] Okay?
[00:57:45] Like, Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy from the animated series.
[00:57:52] Like, those are the best interpretations of Batman and the Joker you'll ever see.
[00:57:56] Outside of that, if you're talking live action...
[00:57:59] Like, to me, just Jared Leto's Joker...
[00:58:02] While I understand it's controversial because of the tattoos and everything else...
[00:58:05] Felt like something that would have been written in the comic book at that time to me.
[00:58:10] Okay.
[00:58:11] Fair.
[00:58:12] I understand that.
[00:58:13] Yeah.
[00:58:14] I...
[00:58:14] I did like Leto's Joker.
[00:58:17] Yeah.
[00:58:17] A lot.
[00:58:18] But I didn't think it...
[00:58:21] I thought he was good and I understand from a comic aspect.
[00:58:24] Right.
[00:58:24] I mean, there was a lot of things I liked about Nolan's stuff in The Dark Knight.
[00:58:28] And there was a lot of stuff that I didn't like.
[00:58:32] Some of the reality stuff I did like.
[00:58:34] Some of the stuff I didn't like.
[00:58:38] But I really liked Heath Ledger as a Joker.
[00:58:42] I felt he delivered an insane performance.
[00:58:45] Right.
[00:58:45] The problem with Nolan's movies are the first two movies he sticks so strictly to reality.
[00:58:50] Reality.
[00:58:51] And the third movie, he takes so many liberties with reality.
[00:58:57] Too many liberties.
[00:58:58] Yeah.
[00:58:59] And we've gone over it.
[00:59:00] I'm not going to delve down that rabbit hole.
[00:59:02] But...
[00:59:03] Yeah.
[00:59:03] Yeah.
[00:59:03] But like...
[00:59:05] Like, I feel like that's the problem with Ledger's Joker is like...
[00:59:10] I don't feel like he's insane.
[00:59:12] Oh, I do.
[00:59:13] Oh, yeah.
[00:59:14] I do.
[00:59:15] I...
[00:59:15] It comes to the question.
[00:59:16] He's too calculated to be insane.
[00:59:20] Yeah.
[00:59:21] Like I said, like, I feel like he's like...
[00:59:23] He's probably somebody who has special training.
[00:59:26] Like, with the CIA or something.
[00:59:28] And their special ops.
[00:59:29] He probably did wet work.
[00:59:31] You know, that's probably where he got the scars.
[00:59:33] In reality.
[00:59:36] And then he probably at some point along the way was a member of the League of Shadows.
[00:59:39] Yeah.
[00:59:40] But he was too extreme for the League of Shadows.
[00:59:42] And they kicked him out or something.
[00:59:43] Like, you know what I mean?
[00:59:43] Like, I've created this backstory in my head.
[00:59:48] Because I've even seen, like, somebody did a comic.
[00:59:51] It wasn't official.
[00:59:53] But it was like...
[00:59:54] When they break...
[00:59:55] When they break into Blackgate in the third movie.
[00:59:58] Uh-huh.
[00:59:58] And Bane is letting out all the prisoners.
[01:00:00] At one point, he goes to the Joker.
[01:00:03] He goes to, um...
[01:00:06] Heath Ledger's Joker.
[01:00:08] And he tells him, like, you know...
[01:00:11] You were too extreme for the League of Shadows.
[01:00:14] You...
[01:00:15] I'm leaving you in here.
[01:00:17] Even though you're probably...
[01:00:19] You know, you probably should be released.
[01:00:20] Because you are too much of a wild card for what I'm trying to do.
[01:00:25] Really?
[01:00:25] Yeah.
[01:00:30] That's interesting.
[01:00:31] Yeah.
[01:00:32] Yeah, it was like somebody's idea.
[01:00:35] And I like...
[01:00:36] I like that a lot.
[01:00:37] It's like I've created this backstory in my head of what that character really was.
[01:00:41] It's not of the villains we've seen over the years in the Batman movies.
[01:00:45] Right?
[01:00:46] Yeah.
[01:00:46] We've seen a lot of villains.
[01:00:49] Who would you like to see next in a Batman film?
[01:00:56] As far as a villain was.
[01:00:58] Calendar, man.
[01:00:59] Past or present?
[01:01:00] No, seriously.
[01:01:04] Hush.
[01:01:05] Okay.
[01:01:07] I mean, and that's every Batman fanboy's dream is to see a hush brought to life at this point.
[01:01:13] Okay.
[01:01:14] Go tell.
[01:01:15] Do you know about Hush?
[01:01:16] I don't know about Hush.
[01:01:18] Brief.
[01:01:20] So, I mean, basically it's this book that was done, I want to say in the early 2000s probably.
[01:01:25] They did a movie on it too, right?
[01:01:27] They did do an animated movie, but it's not exact.
[01:01:31] Like they change it quite a bit.
[01:01:35] But essentially it's this character who knows everything about Batman.
[01:01:41] And is out to destroy him.
[01:01:44] And is using the villains and allies to take him out.
[01:01:55] And it turns out at the end, it's like this boyhood friend of Bruce's who was pissed because his father saved his mother's life and kept him from inhering his money.
[01:02:09] Like it was like this very weird, weird thing.
[01:02:12] But at the end of it, the only person that knew was the Riddler.
[01:02:17] And there's this great scene where in the book where Riddler's like, well, I know who you are, Bruce.
[01:02:24] I'm going to tell the world.
[01:02:25] He's like, no, you're not.
[01:02:27] And he's like, how do you know I'm not going to?
[01:02:29] He's like, because you know the answer to the greatest riddle in the world.
[01:02:33] Who is Batman?
[01:02:35] And you'll never tell anybody because you're the only one who knows the answer to that.
[01:02:39] He's like, fuck, you've got me.
[01:02:42] Like his own psychology won't allow him to tell the world like he's threatening to.
[01:02:47] Right.
[01:02:47] And it's like this really cool thing.
[01:02:50] It's a great book, but like Hush was like this perfect villain, this perfect counterpoint to what Batman was and is out to destroy Bruce Wayne and Batman.
[01:03:06] And it's really well done.
[01:03:07] It's a book I highly recommend.
[01:03:09] So that's the next movie you want to see?
[01:03:10] I would love to see a version of Hush done, yes.
[01:03:13] What about you?
[01:03:14] Well, now I'm on this one.
[01:03:16] I'm on this one.
[01:03:19] I hate it.
[01:03:19] Is there any villain that you want to see?
[01:03:25] Well, I have to think about it.
[01:03:26] Because they've done the Joker, what, three times, right?
[01:03:28] They've done the Joker.
[01:03:29] They've had the Riddler.
[01:03:31] Twice.
[01:03:32] They've had the Penguin.
[01:03:34] Twice.
[01:03:37] They've done Two-Face twice.
[01:03:39] Oh, that's true.
[01:03:42] They've done Catwoman three times.
[01:03:45] What's his name?
[01:03:45] Played a great Two-Face.
[01:03:46] Actually, I'm sorry.
[01:03:47] They've done the Penguin twice.
[01:03:49] Yeah, that's right.
[01:03:50] Okay, yeah.
[01:03:52] I thought What's-His-Name-Is-Two-Face was fantastic.
[01:03:57] From Nolan.
[01:03:58] Yeah.
[01:03:59] I thought that Two-Face was really good.
[01:04:00] No, that Two-Face is phenomenal.
[01:04:01] Like, that's Two-Face.
[01:04:02] They've done the Scarecrow, too.
[01:04:04] Yeah.
[01:04:05] That's who I want to see.
[01:04:06] You want to see Scarecrow again?
[01:04:08] Yeah, but I want to see Scarecrow.
[01:04:10] The dark Scarecrow.
[01:04:11] Not Nolan Scarecrow.
[01:04:12] Don't get me wrong.
[01:04:13] Right.
[01:04:13] I love Nolan Scarecrow.
[01:04:15] Yeah.
[01:04:16] But not how I want to see the crow.
[01:04:19] I want to see Scarecrow.
[01:04:22] Like, Scarecrow.
[01:04:25] The scary one.
[01:04:26] The dark one.
[01:04:27] I love Scarecrow.
[01:04:29] I did.
[01:04:33] Yeah, I mean, I-
[01:04:34] Grodd Boy.
[01:04:35] Huh?
[01:04:36] Gorilla Grodd.
[01:04:37] That's more of a flash.
[01:04:38] Yeah, I know.
[01:04:39] But I would like to see Scarecrow.
[01:04:43] Yeah.
[01:04:44] I like the story behind Scarecrow.
[01:04:47] The only problem is, like, that's a villain who can't carry a movie by himself.
[01:04:52] Yeah, I know.
[01:04:53] That's why I got excited when they were supposedly developing the Legion of Doom.
[01:04:58] Yeah.
[01:04:59] Which never got off the ground.
[01:05:02] With, what, Deathstroke, right?
[01:05:04] Yeah.
[01:05:05] I mean, it was Lex and Deathstroke.
[01:05:06] That's all you know.
[01:05:07] With your man.
[01:05:09] Joe Maggie, whatever.
[01:05:10] Maganella.
[01:05:11] Joe Maganella.
[01:05:12] But, I mean, like-
[01:05:14] Also in Magic Mike.
[01:05:15] Yeah.
[01:05:16] Yes.
[01:05:16] I don't know why.
[01:05:18] So, but that's why I got excited when Luther, you know what I mean?
[01:05:23] And it was coming together, and it's like, nothing.
[01:05:27] But that's fine.
[01:05:29] But I was going to get a chance to see the correct answer.
[01:05:31] I agree.
[01:05:31] I mean, like, the failure of the Schneiderverse is what was left hanging.
[01:05:37] Like, yes, you had the beginnings of, like, the Legion of Doom.
[01:05:44] But you also had, like, you know, the whole dark side thing.
[01:05:49] Right.
[01:05:50] Which I was more excited for.
[01:05:52] Right.
[01:05:53] But, yeah, there was a lot of things left hanging.
[01:05:55] Like, in Schneider's Justice League, like, that scene at the end where they send, um,
[01:06:02] what's his name's head through the boom tube.
[01:06:05] Yeah.
[01:06:06] To, and Darkside stops with his foot and crushes it.
[01:06:11] I'm just like, oh, fuck.
[01:06:12] And then they have that standoff for just a second.
[01:06:14] You're just like, oh, shit, it's on.
[01:06:16] Yeah, yeah.
[01:06:16] Fuck, yeah.
[01:06:17] You know.
[01:06:19] I'm excited.
[01:06:19] I, I, because there's, like, there's, in Superman, the animated series, like, there's this great
[01:06:26] moment where Superman's fighting Darkseid.
[01:06:29] Uh-huh.
[01:06:30] And Superman says to him, like, do you know what I like about you?
[01:06:34] I can let loose on you.
[01:06:36] Everything else in this world, I have to treat like it's papier-mâché.
[01:06:40] Okay.
[01:06:41] But you, you I can beat the fuck out of.
[01:06:45] Like, I mean, and it's true.
[01:06:47] Like, like, in Superman's world, he probably had, like, his, the, the, the, a level of strength
[01:06:53] that he has, like, everything has to feel like papier-mâché around him because of how
[01:07:00] strong he is.
[01:07:02] Right.
[01:07:02] And now you have this one villain that can take your hardest punch.
[01:07:09] Yeah.
[01:07:10] And survive.
[01:07:11] And that's got to feel good to just be like, I don't have to hold back on you.
[01:07:16] Everybody else I have to hold back on.
[01:07:19] But you?
[01:07:21] You are fun because I get to let loose.
[01:07:24] Yeah, yeah.
[01:07:24] I can go to my full extent.
[01:07:27] Right.
[01:07:28] That's like, shit.
[01:07:30] Okay.
[01:07:33] It's a good villain to have because Superman's so powerful.
[01:07:36] He is.
[01:07:37] I mean, if you think about it, I'm just taking a scene.
[01:07:43] I'm not taking anything from the comics or anything like that, but I'm just taking the
[01:07:45] scene where the resurrection of Superman, right?
[01:07:48] Mm-hmm.
[01:07:48] You remember?
[01:07:49] The one where Flash was running around and he was, like, watching with his eye as he
[01:07:54] passed him.
[01:07:56] Superman could have broken all their necks in about three seconds.
[01:08:00] Yeah.
[01:08:00] Like that.
[01:08:01] No time at all.
[01:08:03] But he didn't.
[01:08:04] I don't understand why it didn't.
[01:08:05] I mean, at that point in his mental chaos.
[01:08:09] But he could have broken all their necks in an instant.
[01:08:12] He had a moral compass.
[01:08:13] But even like...
[01:08:14] I did respect the...
[01:08:15] I love the part.
[01:08:16] I love the part where Wonder Woman headbutted him.
[01:08:20] Yeah.
[01:08:22] And he did it back.
[01:08:23] Yeah.
[01:08:24] It was like...
[01:08:25] You know, because he's that strong.
[01:08:27] And I think that's the detriment for me in my psychological of watching Supes.
[01:08:33] I like Superman.
[01:08:35] I get it.
[01:08:36] I get it.
[01:08:36] I get the undeniable power behind Superman.
[01:08:40] But also, in my head, no one should have that much power.
[01:08:44] Everybody should have...
[01:08:45] I mean, his is kryptonite and all this crap.
[01:08:47] But at the same point, he's too powerful for me to watch.
[01:08:52] As you take Spider-Man on the other end, you know, it's more on a human level.
[01:08:57] Batman, more on a human level to me.
[01:09:00] Right.
[01:09:00] Because they have...
[01:09:02] Not flaws, but they're weak compared to him.
[01:09:05] Like he's almost godlike.
[01:09:08] Zeus.
[01:09:09] Well, not the Zeus and Thor.
[01:09:11] But Zeus.
[01:09:12] You know what I mean.
[01:09:13] Yeah.
[01:09:15] I mean, like, yeah.
[01:09:16] I mean, like...
[01:09:17] It's too much.
[01:09:17] I mean, it's like...
[01:09:19] Does he really have to go to this fight?
[01:09:24] Superman.
[01:09:24] Right.
[01:09:25] You know what I mean?
[01:09:25] Like...
[01:09:27] He's that powerful.
[01:09:28] Does he really need to be involved?
[01:09:30] Can't the others play around for a little bit?
[01:09:32] And then...
[01:09:33] You know, because it's always Superman coming in.
[01:09:35] Right.
[01:09:36] You know?
[01:09:36] Well, I mean, that's what drove me nuts.
[01:09:38] Like, you'd watch, like, the 50s with George Reeves.
[01:09:42] Yeah.
[01:09:43] And, like, they never had, like, a real villain.
[01:09:46] It was always, like, you know, the gangster of the week.
[01:09:50] So...
[01:09:50] And Superman would fly in and then shoot him and then throw the gun to his duck.
[01:09:55] Yeah.
[01:09:55] You know?
[01:09:56] But, like...
[01:09:58] How are you tricking Superman?
[01:10:00] Like, how are you...
[01:10:00] How is, like, a street-level gangster stopping Superman?
[01:10:04] Exactly.
[01:10:05] It's impossible.
[01:10:06] Right.
[01:10:07] You know?
[01:10:08] You can also say that about Marvel, too, right?
[01:10:11] You don't think a full squad of Avengers can come in and stop Kingpin?
[01:10:17] Well, I mean, that was always, like...
[01:10:19] You know?
[01:10:20] Like, even, like, they say, like...
[01:10:22] Like, with Captain America Winter Soldier.
[01:10:27] Like, why wasn't he calling the Avengers?
[01:10:30] Yeah.
[01:10:31] Like, this was clearly an Avengers-level threat.
[01:10:34] And he's like, I can handle it.
[01:10:37] That's Cap.
[01:10:38] That's Cap.
[01:10:39] Yeah.
[01:10:39] But, like, it's always that way.
[01:10:41] Like, you look at, like, any of those movies...
[01:10:44] Like, why aren't you, like, you know, on the Dick Tracy watch going, like, okay, this
[01:10:51] is Tony.
[01:10:52] I need help here.
[01:10:53] You know?
[01:10:54] Nobody ever does that.
[01:10:55] Right.
[01:10:55] Right.
[01:10:55] You know?
[01:10:56] Except when they're doing an Avengers movie.
[01:10:59] Yeah.
[01:11:00] Outside of that.
[01:11:00] Yeah.
[01:11:01] I don't know.
[01:11:03] Like, the only time they do it is in Civil War, and it's to fight each other.
[01:11:07] Right.
[01:11:08] You know?
[01:11:09] But even when, you know...
[01:11:12] Even Doctor Strange and Wanda, I guess that was a little bit different.
[01:11:17] The Doctor Strange movie.
[01:11:19] Yeah.
[01:11:21] Yeah, I agree.
[01:11:22] But when there's such a threat like that, you would think they would call him the Avengers.
[01:11:26] Yeah.
[01:11:27] I mean, not Ant-Man.
[01:11:30] Yeah, not Ant-Man.
[01:11:32] Yeah.
[01:11:34] But, like, it is that way.
[01:11:35] Like, and so you do think about, like...
[01:11:38] Like, the only...
[01:11:39] Like, Batman has too much pride.
[01:11:41] Like, if anything's happening in Gotham, no matter how outrageous it is, he's not calling
[01:11:46] in anybody.
[01:11:47] Yeah.
[01:11:48] Like, he's like, I can handle this on my own.
[01:11:50] Say the fuck out of Gotham.
[01:11:51] I'll figure it out.
[01:11:52] Yeah.
[01:11:53] Like, he gets pissed.
[01:11:54] Like, there are times in the comic books where Superman just shows up, and Batman's like,
[01:11:59] what the fuck are you doing?
[01:12:00] I had that.
[01:12:02] Right.
[01:12:02] I'll finish it for you in 10 seconds.
[01:12:04] Right.
[01:12:05] It would have taken you, like, two hours of fighting.
[01:12:08] And he's like, doesn't matter.
[01:12:09] It's mine.
[01:12:10] You know?
[01:12:11] Yeah.
[01:12:11] Like, Batman is like, don't fuck with my shit.
[01:12:14] Yeah.
[01:12:15] Stay out of Gotham.
[01:12:16] Yeah.
[01:12:17] Does Batman ever go to Metropolis?
[01:12:19] No.
[01:12:21] No?
[01:12:21] He keeps...
[01:12:22] He stays out of it?
[01:12:22] Yeah.
[01:12:24] Like, he stays out of everybody else's shit.
[01:12:26] Pretty much.
[01:12:27] Unless he has to.
[01:12:29] I see.
[01:12:30] Like, unless the clues are taking him to Metropolis or Keystone City or something.
[01:12:34] He's like, you know, that's your shit.
[01:12:36] You deal with it.
[01:12:37] Tell her about how Batman figured out that.
[01:12:40] What was that initiative that Batman had at one time in the books?
[01:12:44] Or the cartoon?
[01:12:46] Oh, yeah.
[01:12:49] So.
[01:12:51] Trying to think.
[01:12:54] Somebody breaks into the Bat computer because Batman has a list of how to beat every single member of the Justice League.
[01:13:04] Huh.
[01:13:05] Like, he has a contingency plan to take every single member of the Justice League out.
[01:13:11] Wow.
[01:13:13] And they steal it and they use it on the Justice League.
[01:13:16] And Batman has to, like, start calling people.
[01:13:18] Like, this is how you fix this.
[01:13:20] This is how you fix this.
[01:13:21] And at the end of it, he, like, tells them, like, well, how do they know how to do all this?
[01:13:25] Because they got it from me.
[01:13:27] And the Justice League is pissed.
[01:13:29] Like, to the point.
[01:13:30] Like, they're thinking about throwing them out.
[01:13:31] First, they're like, I pay for all this shit.
[01:13:33] Number one.
[01:13:35] You know.
[01:13:36] And two, I don't give a damn.
[01:13:40] I don't care how pissed you are.
[01:13:42] Look at me.
[01:13:43] If you were me, you would have a contingency plan for every single one of you two.
[01:13:47] And he leaves.
[01:13:49] And Superman goes after him.
[01:13:51] He's like, I got a question.
[01:13:52] What's your contingency plan against you?
[01:13:54] What if you ever go rogue?
[01:13:55] He's like, well, the Justice League is my contingency plan.
[01:13:58] You'll stop me.
[01:14:00] I was like, that's so badass.
[01:14:02] It is.
[01:14:04] But it's also like, it shows the paranoia of Batman to the point that he's like, there is no fucking way I'm going to let these immortals run around here.
[01:14:18] And if one of them decides to go rogue, I am not going to have a way to stop them.
[01:14:22] Right.
[01:14:23] I will figure this shit out.
[01:14:26] And I was like, yeah.
[01:14:27] Right.
[01:14:28] It makes sense.
[01:14:30] What was it?
[01:14:31] Because then he's playing against Wonder Woman.
[01:14:34] He had her drugged so that she was seeing Chitara.
[01:14:42] Not Chitara.
[01:14:43] She's a thundercat.
[01:14:47] Fucking Chitara.
[01:14:48] Yeah.
[01:14:49] She's a thundercat.
[01:14:50] Cheetah.
[01:14:51] Cheetah.
[01:14:52] Yeah.
[01:14:52] Like, everybody that she was seeing looked like cheetahs.
[01:14:55] Like, as the police were trying to subdue her, she was fighting everybody.
[01:14:58] And the point of what, she would eventually tire herself out.
[01:15:01] Like, she would fight until she died.
[01:15:03] Oh, I see.
[01:15:06] That's cool.
[01:15:07] Yeah.
[01:15:08] And, um, but again, like to the paranoia of Batman, there's a book.
[01:15:16] It's one of the world's finest books.
[01:15:18] It's Batman Superman book.
[01:15:20] And Superman's like, you know what?
[01:15:23] We need to find every bit of kryptonite and destroy it.
[01:15:26] I am tired of kryptonite just popping up randomly and fucking me up.
[01:15:33] So, can we, like, round it all up and get rid of it?
[01:15:37] And Batman's like, yeah, sure.
[01:15:38] I'll help you with that.
[01:15:39] And at the end of the book, Superman gives him this lead box.
[01:15:44] And he's like, this is the last bit of kryptonite.
[01:15:46] And I want you to have it just in case something happens.
[01:15:50] And Batman's like, well, I'm wondering if you would do that for me.
[01:15:52] Uh, give it, you know, you would treat, trust me like that.
[01:15:55] And Superman flies away.
[01:15:57] And Batman walks in the Batcave to this vault, opens it up, and is just filled with kryptonite.
[01:16:02] He just tosses the box and, like, yeah.
[01:16:04] Like, I didn't have that plan.
[01:16:06] Oh, that's cool.
[01:16:07] Yeah.
[01:16:09] Boy.
[01:16:11] Sneak.
[01:16:13] Like, paranoid.
[01:16:14] But, like, rightfully so.
[01:16:16] Like.
[01:16:16] So, why is that your favorite character?
[01:16:21] I, it, it's probably my favorite character just because of the fact that he is, he's the one person.
[01:16:31] Not the one.
[01:16:32] I guess green arrow, like, all he can do is, you know, he shoots arrows really well.
[01:16:36] But, like, he's the one person who's really, like, mortal.
[01:16:43] Okay.
[01:16:43] He has no superpowers.
[01:16:45] He has, he has gone and trained his body and mind to the point of physical perfection and mental perfection.
[01:16:53] Okay.
[01:16:54] You know, he, he has taken his fortune and, and used it in a way to better the world in the only way he knows how.
[01:17:07] Okay.
[01:17:07] You know, but there's also, like, the psychological fact that, like, and there, there, there's a, in one, one book, um, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman are all holding the lasso of truth.
[01:17:22] Okay.
[01:17:22] And it was, like, the first time they meet.
[01:17:25] And they're, like, well, who, who are you?
[01:17:28] And she's, like, I'm Diana Prince of, you know, such and such.
[01:17:32] And I'm Clark Kent, Kell-El, or, you know, and Batman's, like, I'm Batman.
[01:17:40] Really?
[01:17:41] And he's not lying.
[01:17:42] Yeah.
[01:17:43] Like, that's where, like, it all goes back.
[01:17:46] It's like, why do I like Affleck's Batman more than Keaton or Bale?
[01:17:53] Because Affleck's Batman is Batman.
[01:17:55] Bruce Wayne is in disguise.
[01:17:59] He, he doesn't, he doesn't think he's Bruce Wayne.
[01:18:01] He thinks he's Batman.
[01:18:02] And that's the truth.
[01:18:04] So, like, Bale's Batman is the one that drives me the most nuts because he doesn't want to be Batman.
[01:18:14] Like, he doesn't, he's, he's wanted to give it up in a heartbeat and does.
[01:18:19] Twice.
[01:18:22] And, like, Keaton's Batman, I like that Batman, but he's not, he's Bruce Wayne and Batman's the alter ego.
[01:18:33] Like, I think the closest, the only other one that comes close to that is probably Val Kilmer's Batman.
[01:18:40] Like, Val Kilmer's Batman is kind of like, he, he treads that line.
[01:18:44] He, at the end of it, he's like, well, I'm both.
[01:18:46] Well, no, you're not.
[01:18:47] But, but Affleck's Batman is Batman first, Bruce Wayne second.
[01:18:52] And that's what I like about that Batman.
[01:18:55] I see.
[01:18:56] I get that.
[01:18:57] Yeah.
[01:19:01] What's your favorite superhero?
[01:19:03] My favorite superhero?
[01:19:05] Huh.
[01:19:05] Captain America.
[01:19:08] I knew that was coming.
[01:19:12] Is that just a, I wish Chris Everett was a magic mic too?
[01:19:17] Yes.
[01:19:17] Okay.
[01:19:22] But you like Cap?
[01:19:23] No, I do like Captain America.
[01:19:25] It's a cool thought.
[01:19:27] You know, they took this scrawny kid off the street and turned him into this superhero.
[01:19:31] Yeah.
[01:19:34] And then he dies and is frozen.
[01:19:38] I guess he technically didn't die.
[01:19:39] He kind of, he's frozen and wakes up in a whole new world.
[01:19:44] A man out of time.
[01:19:47] Yeah.
[01:19:48] I get it.
[01:19:49] Yeah.
[01:19:50] He's been around forever.
[01:19:52] He has appeal.
[01:19:53] Yeah.
[01:19:54] More than the Fantastic Four does apparently.
[01:19:59] Everybody knows.
[01:20:00] Yeah.
[01:20:00] He was a Spider-Man.
[01:20:01] Yeah.
[01:20:02] Hands down.
[01:20:03] Every time.
[01:20:05] Yeah.
[01:20:05] Yeah.
[01:20:06] Love the guy.
[01:20:09] I think we all know that.
[01:20:10] Yeah.
[01:20:12] Well, speaking of the Fantastic Four.
[01:20:14] Oh, tell me more, Sandy.
[01:20:17] Lucasfilm announced they've signed a deal with Simon Kinsberg to do three movies, supposedly
[01:20:28] episodes 10, 11, and 12.
[01:20:32] What?
[01:20:33] Yeah.
[01:20:35] As if Star Wars wasn't confusing enough at this point.
[01:20:37] Right.
[01:20:38] So, the good news is Simon Kinsberg has been a producer on such films as Deadpool and Wolverine,
[01:20:47] Logan, and he was involved with Star Wars Rebels.
[01:20:50] Okay.
[01:20:50] The bad news is he wrote and directed X-Men Last Stand, the Fantastic Four from 2015.
[01:20:59] Oh, God.
[01:21:01] And Dark Phoenix.
[01:21:04] Oh.
[01:21:07] That is like a trilogy of stink.
[01:21:10] Oh, yeah.
[01:21:11] That's horrible.
[01:21:13] Yeah.
[01:21:14] That is like a triple turd sandwich if I've ever heard of one.
[01:21:18] Oh, that's horrible.
[01:21:19] Yeah.
[01:21:21] How can you produce something that badly?
[01:21:24] Three times in a row.
[01:21:28] Like, how do you fuck up the Dark Phoenix story twice?
[01:21:35] I don't know.
[01:21:36] I think I need a sticker that says triple stink.
[01:21:39] Triple stink.
[01:21:40] Triple stink.
[01:21:41] Yeah.
[01:21:42] That is a new Pittsburgh nerd term.
[01:21:44] We will be using it only when needed, hopefully.
[01:21:48] Bumper stickers next week.
[01:21:49] Yeah.
[01:21:51] This is time for Christmas.
[01:21:52] Get your triple stink cozy.
[01:21:54] That's right.
[01:21:57] Disgusting.
[01:21:57] Disgusting.
[01:21:59] This is a picture of you holding your nose.
[01:22:03] Yeah.
[01:22:04] That's it.
[01:22:06] Yeah, that's terrible.
[01:22:09] I didn't want to think about it.
[01:22:13] I don't know what to think.
[01:22:14] The prequels were bad enough.
[01:22:19] I know you like some of them, but.
[01:22:22] Yeah, episode two and I can live with episode three.
[01:22:27] Episode one is rough.
[01:22:31] So bad.
[01:22:32] It is.
[01:22:33] Like.
[01:22:35] The kids acting is just so horrible.
[01:22:38] I mean, the only thing that sucks is like.
[01:22:40] The only thing that's worse is the rise of Skywalker.
[01:22:44] What?
[01:22:44] Oh, I hate that movie.
[01:22:46] Do you?
[01:22:46] I do.
[01:22:48] Like it is.
[01:22:49] I mean, first off, it starts with.
[01:22:51] I mean, those famous words.
[01:22:54] Somehow Palpatine's returned.
[01:22:57] What?
[01:22:59] And then like, don't even get me started on like the hyperspace skipping.
[01:23:03] And.
[01:23:03] Oh, yeah, it was pretty bad.
[01:23:04] Yeah.
[01:23:04] I mean, that.
[01:23:05] I mean, in the first movie, you get Han giving the speech about how you have to have these
[01:23:10] precise calculations or else you fly into the sun.
[01:23:13] And there's Poe Dameron just like.
[01:23:15] He he.
[01:23:16] He he.
[01:23:16] He he.
[01:23:17] You know, like.
[01:23:18] We'll just bounce through hyperspace and see what happens.
[01:23:22] Like, no.
[01:23:23] Han Solo told me it's extremely difficult and it needs to be calculated to perfection.
[01:23:27] But you're just lifted.
[01:23:30] No.
[01:23:31] Come on.
[01:23:31] Stop it.
[01:23:32] And then, I mean.
[01:23:34] Like.
[01:23:35] It's like you have 48 hours and they've like gone to like six different planets.
[01:23:39] Like time has no meaning in that movie.
[01:23:42] Right.
[01:23:42] None.
[01:23:43] You know.
[01:23:44] And.
[01:23:45] I mean, there's good in it.
[01:23:47] Like, don't you know, there's good.
[01:23:48] Like the moment between Kylo Ren and Han.
[01:23:52] Like that's.
[01:23:53] Yeah.
[01:23:54] I mean, it's that's perfection.
[01:23:56] Like that scene is perfect.
[01:23:58] Yeah.
[01:23:58] And it's like, fuck.
[01:23:59] Why can't the rest of the movie be like this?
[01:24:01] Right.
[01:24:01] You've given me a like.
[01:24:02] But in Abram's defense, he was given a ball of turd and told, well, polish it.
[01:24:10] And.
[01:24:12] Because episode.
[01:24:14] Seven and episode eight don't fit together because you had two different directors with
[01:24:18] two different visions telling the same the same story in the same trilogy, fucking
[01:24:22] everything up as much as I love the last Jedi.
[01:24:25] Jedi.
[01:24:27] It still doesn't fit.
[01:24:29] And you bring back J.J.
[01:24:30] Abrams and say, well, let's go back to what you thought we were supposed to do.
[01:24:32] Right.
[01:24:33] What?
[01:24:36] Like it just.
[01:24:38] That's why that trilogy is frustrating.
[01:24:42] Square pegs being pushed in the round holes.
[01:24:44] Right.
[01:24:45] And they don't fit.
[01:24:46] I get it.
[01:24:47] Yeah.
[01:24:48] So like, yeah.
[01:24:49] Like to me, like in the bottom three, it's returned to Jedi.
[01:24:54] Jedi is episode one.
[01:24:56] And it's the rise of Skywalker.
[01:24:58] Okay.
[01:25:01] Yeah.
[01:25:01] Yeah.
[01:25:05] Favorite episode.
[01:25:08] Come on.
[01:25:08] It's.
[01:25:09] I know.
[01:25:10] It has such a down ending.
[01:25:12] Yeah.
[01:25:14] I'm going clerks there.
[01:25:17] No, but I mean like, no, it is.
[01:25:19] I mean, I mean, that's the movie that, you know, we told a story that molded me into the
[01:25:26] sad curmudgeon I am today.
[01:25:30] Tell her the story about.
[01:25:33] It's not the theater.
[01:25:34] That's right.
[01:25:34] You never, you've never heard.
[01:25:36] So exciting.
[01:25:37] I mean, somebody new to tell these stories.
[01:25:39] So, I mean, when I was a kid, my dad told me to go see Star Wars.
[01:25:42] I fell in love with Star Wars.
[01:25:43] Like I was four.
[01:25:44] I was like, this is amazing.
[01:25:46] Blew my mind.
[01:25:47] And.
[01:25:49] So 1980 rolls around and.
[01:25:51] We go.
[01:25:52] We go.
[01:25:52] As a family.
[01:25:53] As a family.
[01:25:54] So it's like.
[01:25:55] Ian's mom.
[01:25:56] My dad.
[01:25:58] My grandfather.
[01:25:59] My grandmother.
[01:26:00] All of our cut.
[01:26:01] Like everybody.
[01:26:02] It's like we took up a fucking row.
[01:26:03] Yeah.
[01:26:04] It was all of us.
[01:26:04] Yeah.
[01:26:05] And.
[01:26:07] I mean, you go through that movie and you get to the end of it and it's like.
[01:26:12] You know, Han's been frozen in carbonite taken away.
[01:26:15] So emotionally he's being built up.
[01:26:17] Yeah.
[01:26:18] Where we are.
[01:26:19] Right.
[01:26:20] Well.
[01:26:21] At this point in my life and in my, in my young seven and a half years of life.
[01:26:27] The good guys always went.
[01:26:30] You know, John and Ponch always caught the bad guy.
[01:26:34] It's true.
[01:26:34] You know, Apollo and Starbuck always got the Cylons.
[01:26:38] This was my life.
[01:26:39] The good guys always won.
[01:26:41] And I get that.
[01:26:42] The empire.
[01:26:43] And Han's frozen in carbonite.
[01:26:45] Luke has his hand cut off.
[01:26:46] Finds out Darth Vader is quite possibly his father.
[01:26:49] And the rebellion is on the run after getting their asses handed to him on Hoth.
[01:26:55] Well.
[01:26:58] I chose violence.
[01:27:00] I was yelling at the screen as the credits are rolling.
[01:27:05] No.
[01:27:06] This can't be happening.
[01:27:08] No.
[01:27:10] My father is dragging me up the aisle.
[01:27:13] He freaked out when the hand got cut off.
[01:27:15] Oh, yeah.
[01:27:15] I mean, they're like, what the fuck?
[01:27:18] Like, I mean, my seven and a half years of life were shattered that day.
[01:27:24] Well.
[01:27:24] And ever since then, I have always been like, no, it's this is.
[01:27:30] This is not how life works.
[01:27:33] Sometimes the bad guys win.
[01:27:35] Obviously.
[01:27:36] I mean, I found it out that day.
[01:27:38] And that was a tie.
[01:27:40] Like, statistically, that was probably a tie.
[01:27:42] Like, the empire really didn't win that day.
[01:27:44] But, you know, the rebellion at their asses handed to them.
[01:27:47] Right.
[01:27:48] You know, and I was like, fuck.
[01:27:49] Like, you know.
[01:27:50] When the Falcon goes to light speed and Vader's just kind of standing there like, you know.
[01:27:55] Okay, who am I choking at now?
[01:27:57] Like, you know, you're like, fuck.
[01:27:59] No, this can't be right.
[01:28:00] They're going to go fine hauling right now.
[01:28:03] They're going to fix this.
[01:28:05] Like, no, the movie's over.
[01:28:06] Credits are rolling.
[01:28:07] I'm like.
[01:28:09] You got to wait for the next one.
[01:28:10] Yeah, I have to wait three fucking years?
[01:28:14] I know.
[01:28:15] To get a teddy bear massacre?
[01:28:16] Yeah.
[01:28:18] Three fucking years for teddy bears to bang on Stormtroopers' helmets?
[01:28:23] Yeah.
[01:28:26] Stormtrooper meat.
[01:28:32] Do you know the Ewoks were supposed to be Wookiees?
[01:28:34] No, I did not.
[01:28:35] Yeah.
[01:28:36] That was originally Lucas' plan.
[01:28:37] They found out it was easier to get little people than it was to get big people.
[01:28:44] I like Ewoks.
[01:28:47] When I was a child.
[01:28:48] Pause the podcast.
[01:28:52] Oh, come on.
[01:28:53] They're cute.
[01:28:54] I like Ewoks as your child.
[01:28:55] Little girl.
[01:28:56] They were cute.
[01:28:58] Made it out like this.
[01:29:01] You didn't.
[01:29:02] No.
[01:29:05] You did not.
[01:29:09] Okay.
[01:29:10] Especially with the bad makeup.
[01:29:14] If I could pick it out, anybody could pick it out.
[01:29:18] The black makeup.
[01:29:19] Yeah, the black eye makeup.
[01:29:21] It's terrible.
[01:29:23] It was just silly.
[01:29:24] They made those things to make toys.
[01:29:26] I don't care what they say.
[01:29:28] They were making toys.
[01:29:30] I kind of agree.
[01:29:31] Yeah.
[01:29:31] And it stepped in a world of not believable.
[01:29:35] As unbelievable as that world is, an Ewok is not going to take out a platoon of stormtroopers.
[01:29:43] I don't care who you are.
[01:29:46] With sticks and stones.
[01:29:49] It's not going to happen.
[01:29:51] Well, I mean, apparently the armor is fucking useless as we found out in Rogue One.
[01:29:56] What do you mean?
[01:29:58] The blind guy using his stick and just taking out like six stormtroopers.
[01:30:03] Yeah, that's badass.
[01:30:04] I mean, I'm right there with you.
[01:30:07] I'm just saying that dude also used best stick to take out like six stormtroopers.
[01:30:13] So stick to stones might work.
[01:30:15] So that armor is clearly fucking useless.
[01:30:17] If anything, it's got to be like a haptic pad where it inflicts pain.
[01:30:22] When a three-foot midget picks up a baseball rock and throws at a stormtrooper and he dies?
[01:30:27] I agree.
[01:30:27] You have problems.
[01:30:28] I agree, but...
[01:30:29] I have problems when they are...
[01:30:31] And they just start throwing these little pebbles at him and they're all like...
[01:30:35] That's crazy town.
[01:30:37] That is crazy town.
[01:30:40] They're so cute.
[01:30:41] Two logs taking out an AT-ST.
[01:30:44] I can believe that.
[01:30:45] Those were trees.
[01:30:47] That's the only part that I believe.
[01:30:48] Okay.
[01:30:49] The guy in the ganglider dropping rocks on a metal box?
[01:30:54] Yeah.
[01:30:55] I'm like...
[01:30:55] Well, maybe the rocks are really heavy.
[01:30:57] What the fuck is happening?
[01:30:59] You know?
[01:30:59] You don't know what the rocks were.
[01:31:01] And there's the whole, you know, storm in the beaches of Normandy part where they're...
[01:31:06] You see them all dying and...
[01:31:08] Oh, yub, yub.
[01:31:10] Rubbing their head.
[01:31:12] And there's this whole five-minute sequence of death.
[01:31:15] There is a sad moment there where like...
[01:31:17] That one is like, you know...
[01:31:18] Like, come on, let's go.
[01:31:19] Let's go.
[01:31:19] And then he's like, really, he's dead and he starts...
[01:31:21] Like, even I like roll a little bit of a tear.
[01:31:23] Like, at that moment where I'm like...
[01:31:25] That's fucked.
[01:31:28] But yes, you're right.
[01:31:28] Like, there is like a five-minute sequence of like...
[01:31:31] You know where it is like...
[01:31:32] Chief Chirpa.
[01:31:33] Yeah.
[01:31:33] And all that crap.
[01:31:34] I'm like...
[01:31:35] What the fuck is happening?
[01:31:38] I had a lot of problems with Jedi.
[01:31:41] I did.
[01:31:43] No, you only had a problem with Endor.
[01:31:45] I did.
[01:31:46] That's the only part of Jedi I had a problem with.
[01:31:48] Except the part when he goes, I love you.
[01:31:50] And she goes, I know.
[01:31:52] I like that part of Endor.
[01:31:53] Yeah, that is.
[01:31:53] Yeah.
[01:31:54] That's a good part of Endor.
[01:31:56] Yeah.
[01:31:56] I get that.
[01:31:57] Yeah.
[01:31:58] That's a nice callback.
[01:31:59] Yeah.
[01:32:00] But the rest of Endor was garbage.
[01:32:03] Yeah.
[01:32:03] Well, the speeder bikes were cool.
[01:32:06] Yeah.
[01:32:08] Yeah, right.
[01:32:09] It's great right up until Leia meets Wicket.
[01:32:12] Yeah.
[01:32:13] And then it goes off the rails.
[01:32:15] Yeah.
[01:32:17] It's a whole word.
[01:32:19] At least on Endor.
[01:32:21] I know.
[01:32:22] He was Wicket again?
[01:32:23] What's his name?
[01:32:24] Oh.
[01:32:26] Willow.
[01:32:27] Willow, yeah.
[01:32:28] I know.
[01:32:29] I always go like this because that's how you want it.
[01:32:33] Well, he does.
[01:32:34] Well, we do have two bits of sad news.
[01:32:36] And Kenny Baker and the Sweatbox RTD2.
[01:32:39] Yeah.
[01:32:40] You're going to go back on that road.
[01:32:42] No, it's not going on that road.
[01:32:46] Sad news.
[01:32:47] Sad news.
[01:32:50] Do you remember?
[01:32:53] The time when we first met?
[01:32:54] Yeah.
[01:32:55] Many, many years ago, we had the woman Samantha on.
[01:32:59] She was the soap maker.
[01:33:01] Oh, yeah.
[01:33:01] It is.
[01:33:02] And that guy, Mark.
[01:33:03] Yeah.
[01:33:04] Mark Seeley.
[01:33:05] Yeah.
[01:33:05] Unfortunately, Mark passed away.
[01:33:06] Yeah.
[01:33:06] Condolences to that.
[01:33:07] Yeah.
[01:33:08] That's a tough road.
[01:33:09] I've been reading about that.
[01:33:10] Yeah.
[01:33:12] Yeah.
[01:33:12] So have I.
[01:33:12] So, yeah.
[01:33:14] Condolences to his friends and family.
[01:33:16] That's a.
[01:33:16] Huge nerd.
[01:33:17] Yeah.
[01:33:18] Good guy.
[01:33:19] Huge actor.
[01:33:20] Yeah.
[01:33:20] Yeah.
[01:33:21] He was big in the acting community.
[01:33:23] I know he did a lot with the Kennywood Haunted.
[01:33:25] Yeah.
[01:33:25] Stuff for many years.
[01:33:26] Mm-hmm.
[01:33:27] Yeah.
[01:33:28] So.
[01:33:29] Sad.
[01:33:29] It was.
[01:33:31] And also, Tony Todd died last night.
[01:33:34] No way.
[01:33:36] Yeah.
[01:33:37] Huh.
[01:33:38] Yeah.
[01:33:41] Yeah.
[01:33:41] Yeah.
[01:33:43] Candyman.
[01:33:45] Yeah.
[01:33:48] And.
[01:33:51] Dude was in a bunch of shit.
[01:33:53] Trying to think of the latest thing he released.
[01:33:55] It doesn't matter.
[01:33:56] I mean, it does matter.
[01:33:57] My favorite.
[01:33:58] He was in The Rock.
[01:33:59] Yeah.
[01:34:00] Yeah.
[01:34:01] He was one of the rogue commanders at the end.
[01:34:04] Yeah.
[01:34:04] Yeah.
[01:34:06] Huh.
[01:34:07] Shame.
[01:34:08] Yeah.
[01:34:09] Yeah.
[01:34:09] Yeah.
[01:34:10] Condolences.
[01:34:11] It's terrible.
[01:34:14] Especially about Mark.
[01:34:15] Yeah.
[01:34:16] Especially about Mark.
[01:34:16] More about Mark.
[01:34:17] Tony Todd passing is sad, but.
[01:34:19] Knowing Mark, that was a bummer.
[01:34:22] Yeah.
[01:34:24] Huh.
[01:34:26] All right.
[01:34:27] All right.
[01:34:28] So.
[01:34:30] Let me see.
[01:34:31] Let me double check Thad's email.
[01:34:33] I think there was something readable in it.
[01:34:38] Um.
[01:34:39] How dare you shit on Kiss.
[01:34:47] Fuck you and I will get the Kiss arm to kick your ass.
[01:34:51] I have my Kiss coffin ready to go.
[01:34:54] Go get them.
[01:34:54] Because they're probably 80 years old.
[01:34:56] Yeah.
[01:34:57] Like.
[01:34:58] I don't.
[01:34:58] If you're a fan of Kiss.
[01:35:00] Like.
[01:35:00] That's fine.
[01:35:01] Like.
[01:35:01] I just don't think.
[01:35:06] Kiss was a show.
[01:35:08] Not a group of great artists.
[01:35:10] There you go.
[01:35:12] Like.
[01:35:13] That's like saying.
[01:35:14] Gwar was a great band.
[01:35:16] Correct.
[01:35:17] You know.
[01:35:17] You didn't.
[01:35:18] I like Gwar songs.
[01:35:20] They're fun to listen to.
[01:35:21] But they're a better show than they are on.
[01:35:23] An album.
[01:35:25] Right.
[01:35:25] You know.
[01:35:26] You don't.
[01:35:27] That's what you pay for.
[01:35:29] You know.
[01:35:29] Kiss put on a hell of a show.
[01:35:31] Right.
[01:35:31] They were not great musicians.
[01:35:33] I agree.
[01:35:33] I agree with you.
[01:35:34] You know.
[01:35:34] Even they'll admit that.
[01:35:36] Yeah.
[01:35:36] No.
[01:35:37] I mean.
[01:35:37] They will.
[01:35:37] Like.
[01:35:37] I mean.
[01:35:38] Gene is.
[01:35:39] I.
[01:35:40] You know.
[01:35:40] Gene's basically.
[01:35:41] Like.
[01:35:42] Yeah.
[01:35:42] We're not good.
[01:35:43] Eric Carr was great though.
[01:35:46] Like.
[01:35:47] He.
[01:35:47] They didn't deserve him as a drummer.
[01:35:49] Right.
[01:35:49] He was that good.
[01:35:51] You know.
[01:35:52] But.
[01:35:53] So like.
[01:35:54] If you like Kiss.
[01:35:55] And you.
[01:35:55] Give.
[01:35:56] When it.
[01:35:56] Freely give Gene your money.
[01:35:58] By all means.
[01:35:59] Go ahead.
[01:35:59] Right.
[01:36:00] You know.
[01:36:01] Enjoy the kiss.
[01:36:02] So often.
[01:36:06] Um.
[01:36:08] He also states.
[01:36:09] Kennywood posted.
[01:36:10] They're having.
[01:36:10] A new.
[01:36:11] Synchronized light show.
[01:36:12] For their holiday lights.
[01:36:13] This year.
[01:36:14] It appears.
[01:36:15] They are taking a page.
[01:36:16] Out of.
[01:36:17] My book.
[01:36:18] Sean.
[01:36:19] Is the Kennywood lights.
[01:36:20] Gaudy.
[01:36:21] Yes.
[01:36:22] Yes.
[01:36:23] They are.
[01:36:23] Thad.
[01:36:25] Yeah.
[01:36:26] Like.
[01:36:27] If I live near Kennywood.
[01:36:28] I would call the police.
[01:36:30] Wow.
[01:36:30] Yeah.
[01:36:31] Like.
[01:36:31] There's a hatred there.
[01:36:34] Well.
[01:36:34] I'm.
[01:36:35] I'm.
[01:36:35] I'm.
[01:36:36] I'm sick of.
[01:36:36] I'm sick of this.
[01:36:37] Oh.
[01:36:38] My God.
[01:36:39] Like.
[01:36:39] I'm sick of being painted as the villain.
[01:36:42] Because I think.
[01:36:43] Holiday light shows.
[01:36:45] Are dumb.
[01:36:46] Okay.
[01:36:47] If you like them.
[01:36:48] By all means.
[01:36:50] Enjoy yourself.
[01:36:52] You mean light shows.
[01:36:53] Or just lights in general.
[01:36:54] Well.
[01:36:55] Lights in general.
[01:36:57] But.
[01:36:57] Light shows in particular.
[01:36:59] Okay.
[01:37:00] Like.
[01:37:01] Thad keeps saying.
[01:37:02] Like.
[01:37:02] Is it.
[01:37:03] Are the.
[01:37:03] Is my.
[01:37:03] Are my lights too gaudy.
[01:37:05] Or like.
[01:37:06] Because I said.
[01:37:07] His lights are gaudy.
[01:37:08] I'm sorry.
[01:37:09] They are.
[01:37:10] Okay.
[01:37:10] Like.
[01:37:10] If I lived in your neighborhood.
[01:37:12] I would look.
[01:37:12] He'd be looking up city ordinances about this.
[01:37:15] Okay.
[01:37:15] I would be calling.
[01:37:16] Like.
[01:37:16] My councilman.
[01:37:18] Okay.
[01:37:18] Like.
[01:37:20] That's me.
[01:37:21] Right.
[01:37:21] You know.
[01:37:22] I don't live near you.
[01:37:23] So you don't have to worry about it.
[01:37:24] Right.
[01:37:24] You know.
[01:37:25] But.
[01:37:28] It's a.
[01:37:28] It's a big production.
[01:37:29] It is.
[01:37:30] It's a massive production.
[01:37:31] He does a fantastic job with it.
[01:37:33] But.
[01:37:35] And he gets mad.
[01:37:36] Because I won't come see it.
[01:37:37] But.
[01:37:39] When I was a kid.
[01:37:40] And your parents.
[01:37:41] Like.
[01:37:41] When you were a kid.
[01:37:42] Like.
[01:37:42] Your parents took you around to go see like.
[01:37:43] The Christmas lights.
[01:37:44] I hated that shit.
[01:37:47] Like.
[01:37:47] I'm like six in the car.
[01:37:49] Going like.
[01:37:49] We could be watching.
[01:37:50] That's incredible.
[01:37:51] And real people right now.
[01:37:52] Okay.
[01:37:53] What are we doing in the fucking car?
[01:37:55] Like.
[01:37:56] That was the dumbest thing in the world to me.
[01:37:58] But.
[01:37:58] People love it.
[01:38:00] I understand that.
[01:38:01] But yes.
[01:38:02] It's gaudy.
[01:38:04] I would never pay.
[01:38:05] To go to Kennywood.
[01:38:07] To see a light show.
[01:38:08] Okay.
[01:38:11] I would.
[01:38:12] But.
[01:38:12] I mean.
[01:38:12] I mean.
[01:38:13] I went that one.
[01:38:16] 20 plus years ago.
[01:38:18] I.
[01:38:18] I.
[01:38:18] I.
[01:38:19] Went to.
[01:38:19] That one park.
[01:38:21] That does like.
[01:38:21] You know.
[01:38:21] The drive.
[01:38:22] Oh yeah.
[01:38:23] Went there.
[01:38:24] And.
[01:38:27] Well.
[01:38:27] Renee.
[01:38:28] My.
[01:38:28] My.
[01:38:28] At the time.
[01:38:29] Girlfriend.
[01:38:30] Fiance.
[01:38:30] I don't know what she was at the time.
[01:38:32] Like.
[01:38:32] She's like.
[01:38:33] This is amazing.
[01:38:34] I was like.
[01:38:35] Oh yeah.
[01:38:36] Yeah.
[01:38:36] Right.
[01:38:37] Amazing.
[01:38:38] Sure.
[01:38:41] Sure.
[01:38:42] Hated every second of it.
[01:38:45] Yeah.
[01:38:45] Like.
[01:38:46] Hated every second of it.
[01:38:49] I couldn't understand why I spent $20 for this shit.
[01:38:52] Plus gas.
[01:38:53] Yes.
[01:38:54] But there we were.
[01:38:55] Right.
[01:38:56] So.
[01:38:58] Yes.
[01:38:59] I think Kennywood likes your gaudy Thad.
[01:39:01] I think it's ridiculous.
[01:39:02] I think it's ridiculous that you paid good money to go to Kennywood to see this shit.
[01:39:07] But that's me.
[01:39:09] I'm sure there are other people who will be in line with you and you can all enjoy your hot chocolate and your.
[01:39:16] Your potato patch fries with gravy.
[01:39:19] And have fun.
[01:39:21] I'm going this year.
[01:39:22] Are you?
[01:39:23] Yeah.
[01:39:24] Besides that your arm got twisted.
[01:39:26] Huh?
[01:39:27] Yeah.
[01:39:28] Oh.
[01:39:28] Yeah.
[01:39:29] I.
[01:39:29] You know.
[01:39:31] I know you.
[01:39:31] You do things for love that you normally wouldn't do.
[01:39:34] Oh.
[01:39:35] Wow.
[01:39:36] I'm just saying.
[01:39:38] It's a family tradition.
[01:39:41] Oh.
[01:39:43] Hold your tongue, son.
[01:39:45] You know I decorate for good.
[01:39:47] You do.
[01:39:48] I always put lights on.
[01:39:49] Yes.
[01:39:50] Yeah.
[01:39:51] If.
[01:39:52] If it wasn't for the fact that I had children in my home I would not put up a tree.
[01:39:57] Okay.
[01:39:58] And all I see like in my opinion I'm like fuck them kids.
[01:40:02] We don't need a tree.
[01:40:03] Wow.
[01:40:03] You're such a grinch.
[01:40:04] Wow.
[01:40:04] I am.
[01:40:05] I am.
[01:40:05] Like.
[01:40:06] Wow.
[01:40:06] You're.
[01:40:06] Bah humbug.
[01:40:08] I am.
[01:40:08] I am.
[01:40:11] Like.
[01:40:12] Yeah.
[01:40:15] It's shackled to your bed.
[01:40:17] The ghost needs to haunt you.
[01:40:19] Yeah.
[01:40:20] Something.
[01:40:21] Like I enjoy Christmas.
[01:40:23] Christmas.
[01:40:24] But like.
[01:40:25] And like I don't.
[01:40:26] Like my mother decorates.
[01:40:28] And she has all her stuff.
[01:40:30] And like.
[01:40:31] Thad does his thing.
[01:40:32] And you know.
[01:40:33] I mean everybody does their thing.
[01:40:34] Like I'm just not that guy.
[01:40:36] Like.
[01:40:37] To me it's like a waste of time and money.
[01:40:40] So traipsing into the woods like Christmas vacation and getting your tree is not on your list.
[01:40:46] No.
[01:40:47] Not at all.
[01:40:49] No.
[01:40:55] Go on with your bad self my friend.
[01:40:58] But like.
[01:40:59] But I.
[01:40:59] That's.
[01:41:00] That's me.
[01:41:01] I'm not.
[01:41:04] The tapestries of the holidays do not entice me at all.
[01:41:09] I enjoy Christmas.
[01:41:10] I enjoy the time I spend with my family.
[01:41:13] I enjoy the food.
[01:41:14] I enjoy everything else that goes without Christmas.
[01:41:17] But like the decorations and whatnot.
[01:41:19] I can give a fuck less about.
[01:41:21] Okay.
[01:41:21] That's fair.
[01:41:22] That's your opinion.
[01:41:23] It's my opinion.
[01:41:24] And I respect that opinion.
[01:41:25] Right.
[01:41:25] I know you do.
[01:41:26] I'm not going to.
[01:41:26] I'm just saying.
[01:41:27] Fed.
[01:41:27] Fed.
[01:41:28] Fed.
[01:41:28] Fed enjoys.
[01:41:30] Taking pot shots at me because I don't give a fuck.
[01:41:34] Okay.
[01:41:35] As he's done here.
[01:41:38] I'm tired of being the bad guys.
[01:41:40] All I said.
[01:41:40] Keep reading.
[01:41:41] It's okay.
[01:41:41] We'll have therapy after.
[01:41:42] Okay.
[01:41:46] Time for the Kennywood ad.
[01:41:47] If you purchase your passes for.
[01:41:49] And by the way.
[01:41:50] Oh my gosh.
[01:41:53] Let's just lay this law down right now.
[01:41:56] Christmas season begins the day after.
[01:41:59] Thanksgiving.
[01:42:01] That's true.
[01:42:01] I agree with that.
[01:42:03] If you have your lights up right now, Thad.
[01:42:08] Too fucking soon.
[01:42:10] Okay.
[01:42:12] Kennywood.
[01:42:14] Day after Christmas.
[01:42:15] Day after Thanksgiving.
[01:42:19] If you purchase your passes for 2025 now through Thanksgiving.
[01:42:23] You can save $60 right now.
[01:42:27] I will get my passes next week when I go to the lights.
[01:42:30] So again, you're going too soon.
[01:42:33] Kennywood holiday lights review in two weeks.
[01:42:35] Oh, I'm sure it'll be phenomenal.
[01:42:38] I'm sure you will show up for the park as you always do.
[01:42:44] All right.
[01:42:44] Read on, Grumpster.
[01:42:46] That's it.
[01:42:46] That's always got it.
[01:42:49] Let me take you back to 1980.
[01:42:53] Okay.
[01:42:56] So I hope you also get your free souvenir cup that you can get free refills on all year
[01:43:05] long.
[01:43:06] When you go to Kennywood next week and get your pass.
[01:43:10] I hope you enjoy that.
[01:43:11] I hope you choke on some ice.
[01:43:13] I'm done.
[01:43:16] I'm done.
[01:43:17] I'm done.
[01:43:18] All right.
[01:43:19] Well, he always likes taking that shot at you and I.
[01:43:22] Yeah.
[01:43:23] Because you can play.
[01:43:23] I mean, the souvenir cup is too fucking expensive, especially if you go once.
[01:43:28] Once.
[01:43:30] He's not going three or four times a year.
[01:43:33] Once.
[01:43:33] Yeah.
[01:43:34] I agree with that.
[01:43:35] It doesn't pay for it.
[01:43:36] No.
[01:43:36] No.
[01:43:38] For that, but he also gets it for fucking free because he gets a pass so he can go four
[01:43:41] times a year.
[01:43:42] Yeah.
[01:43:43] I get it.
[01:43:46] Easy.
[01:43:46] Easy, son.
[01:43:49] Oh, right.
[01:43:50] You are right up.
[01:43:51] Well, you called me out about my Jared Leto Joker take and me.
[01:43:55] You.
[01:43:55] Yes.
[01:43:56] You want to hit that fucking record button.
[01:43:57] I want to.
[01:43:58] I want to.
[01:43:58] I want to know why.
[01:44:00] We could have had the conversation off, Mike, but no, you want to air my dirty laundry
[01:44:04] here.
[01:44:05] That's not my dirty laundry.
[01:44:07] You pled your case.
[01:44:08] Well, thank you.
[01:44:10] I saw your points.
[01:44:12] I wasn't trying to embarrass you.
[01:44:14] You.
[01:44:14] I don't have anything at stake.
[01:44:18] I'm not the DC fan, so I don't care which Joker you fucking like.
[01:44:26] I can give a shit.
[01:44:28] I know the one I like, but that's fine.
[01:44:31] Anyway.
[01:44:33] Now that I've scared, what few looseness do we have with my angry tirade?
[01:44:37] I know.
[01:44:38] Tiring.
[01:44:39] You know I love you, Thad, right?
[01:44:41] You're like a brother.
[01:44:43] Or a sister.
[01:44:45] Or, yeah.
[01:44:46] Or whatever.
[01:44:46] Yeah.
[01:44:47] You know.
[01:44:48] Keep going.
[01:44:49] Your body, your choice.
[01:44:52] It's true.
[01:44:53] Thad's body, his choice.
[01:44:55] Go ahead.
[01:44:56] Anything you'd like to add to the proceedings, sir?
[01:44:58] I'm good.
[01:45:00] Anything you'd like to add, Lisa?
[01:45:01] No.
[01:45:02] Okay.
[01:45:03] Well, remember, there are a number of different ways you can reach out and touch us.
[01:45:05] Hey.
[01:45:06] It says an email like Thad does each and every week, and maybe if you write in, I will get
[01:45:09] angry with you as well.
[01:45:10] You're so pissed.
[01:45:12] Huh?
[01:45:12] You're so pissed.
[01:45:13] Keep going.
[01:45:14] Let's end this fucking...
[01:45:16] That email address is Pittsburgh...
[01:45:18] Mount Doom.
[01:45:19] Of hate.
[01:45:25] Oh, Mr. Frodo, throw it.
[01:45:26] Yeah, right.
[01:45:29] The email address is PittsburghNerd at Yahoo.com.
[01:45:32] You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.
[01:45:34] Just search Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast.
[01:45:36] We're very, very easy to find.
[01:45:38] We are a number of podcasting networks.
[01:45:40] You can find us on the Tangent Bomb Network, the We Be Geeks Network, and the Podbreed Network.
[01:45:44] You can find all the other great podcasts they have to offer.
[01:45:49] And lastly, I always want to thank you, dear listener, for enduring my hateful rants each
[01:45:52] and every week.
[01:45:53] We can't thank you enough for your support.
[01:45:56] We do.
[01:45:56] And on that note, the dreamer has awakened.
[01:46:01] Peace.
