[00:03:32] It was excellent.
[00:03:33] Nice.
[00:03:34] Good for you.
[00:03:35] It's a good movie.
[00:03:36] All right.
[00:03:37] All right.
[00:03:38] Crank that music, I'll blame her.
[00:03:41] What the music, man?
[00:03:42] What the music, man?
[00:03:43] What the music, man?
[00:03:44] What the music, man? What the music, man? What the music, man? What the music, man. What the music, ma-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-d I enjoy that way too much.
[00:04:05] You know, it's just the greatest music that's ever been created and it fits so perfectly
[00:04:11] with the amazing Mermann Perdex.
[00:04:13] Don't you agree Bryce?
[00:04:14] Yes, so do you.
[00:04:16] If there's no clowning in this, this is like, I scoured the planet to find this music.
[00:04:20] I think this is when I gave you.
[00:04:23] Uh, how it is.
[00:04:24] I'm almost positive it was. No,'s not I am 99% sure it was me you're in correct
[00:04:30] No, you didn't go back in the future emails
[00:04:33] All right, but you know what the important thing is it's not clowning. It's gypsy mystic fabulous is what it is
[00:04:42] Right sure. That's the the genre I think it is.
[00:04:45] Well, in a surprise move, I actually saw both the movies as well.
[00:04:51] What?
[00:04:52] Did not have to watch the trailers.
[00:04:53] Mmm.
[00:04:54] Oh.
[00:04:55] But you're supposed to do it based on the trailers.
[00:04:57] Just on the trailers.
[00:04:58] That makes my own rules.
[00:04:59] Okay.
[00:05:00] If I watch the movie, then that's null and void.
[00:05:03] And I hear things when you guys talk.
[00:05:06] I make my decisions among all that.
[00:05:08] It's like you, it's kind of,
[00:05:10] it's like you with all your gambling.
[00:05:11] You don't just don't, you know,
[00:05:13] throw things in a dark dollar down.
[00:05:15] You do your research.
[00:05:16] Let's get something clear.
[00:05:18] I do not gamble.
[00:05:19] I make short-term investments.
[00:05:21] There you go.
[00:05:22] The thing is you do the work.
[00:05:24] You don't just throw darts at a board.
[00:05:26] Sometimes make you lose thousands of dollars.
[00:05:29] That's right.
[00:05:30] Like get it.
[00:05:31] It makes sense.
[00:05:32] Anyway, we-
[00:05:33] All right, so what did we see?
[00:05:34] We saw Dune Part Two.
[00:05:37] Duh, yes.
[00:05:38] Part Two of, I don't know, eight
[00:05:40] that are gonna be coming out.
[00:05:41] Who knew it?
[00:05:42] You know what, as long as it keep making him.
[00:05:43] Yeah.
[00:05:44] We'll keep watching them. And based on the last one last time we last one
[00:05:48] that we saw and based on what I know about you two all right this one wasn't
[00:05:52] too hard okay uh Bryce for everything I have managed to over here in fact that
[00:06:00] he wasn't in a theater with us I I'm pretty sure he raged about that one.
[00:06:05] No, Kidoki.
[00:06:06] Remember I gave the last one a man.
[00:06:08] I don't remember that.
[00:06:09] I remember you talking about battle with it.
[00:06:10] I hated it, but there's stuff there that it's like,
[00:06:15] it's not that bad a man would recognize that.
[00:06:19] You know, that's really big in a few by the way.
[00:06:21] I still hated it.
[00:06:22] Okay.
[00:06:23] It was like two and a half hours of,
[00:06:24] ahh, which this one wasn't quite as bad. Well, hey, I still hated it. Okay. It was like two and a half hours of
[00:06:27] which this one wasn't bad. Quite as bad.
[00:06:28] Well, hey, don't give anything away here.
[00:06:29] That's right.
[00:06:30] All right.
[00:06:30] So that's great.
[00:06:31] I'm just saying that I wasn't quite as bad.
[00:06:33] I'm not saying the movie was in.
[00:06:34] I got you.
[00:06:35] All right.
[00:06:36] OK, so that's it.
[00:06:38] That's one race case.
[00:06:39] All right.
[00:06:40] That's it.
[00:06:41] And seeing as I had the original
[00:06:43] Dune lover sitting beside you watching this movie
[00:06:45] I would be shocked if you didn't mondo the hell out of it. Okay
[00:06:49] And the second one we got to see a movie a cuff screening off the cuff
[00:06:55] That's correct, which of course Jim and I also help out at because you know, we're just awesome dudes. We're volunteers of stuff
[00:07:01] It was love lies bleeding. Mmm, which was the latest a 24
[00:07:07] Offerings offer. Yep. They didn't do they didn't produce it. It is distributed, but yeah, they always have good good stuff
[00:07:13] Yeah, there were lesbians there was murder. It was interesting. There was lesbian murder. There was lesbian
[00:07:23] I like what I like to say Jim Mondo that.
[00:07:27] Okay. Bryce, not so much. I think maybe too much for him. Maybe he would have just only
[00:07:34] gave it a man.
[00:07:35] All right. There you go.
[00:07:37] All right.
[00:07:38] Notice some interesting things you just said.
[00:07:40] Yes. Everything is always interesting.
[00:07:43] See how close you are.
[00:07:45] Yeah.
[00:07:46] I think it might have been pretty close with one of us.
[00:07:50] Maybe not so much with the other.
[00:07:52] We're gonna find out.
[00:07:53] Yes, we are.
[00:07:54] Because you know what?
[00:07:56] It's just the amazing mermen predicting.
[00:07:58] Sometimes he's super amazing, but a lot of times he's just plain amazing.
[00:08:03] If I really had those powers, I'd rich by now dude. Yeah, cuz
[00:08:08] Predicting me and bracing
[00:08:13] It's kind of like that would be something that could be on Vegas right or winners of games before they played them
[00:08:20] Yeah, let's see. I'm not I'm not all knowing you just got get one of them them
[00:08:24] Books like in the back to the future.
[00:08:26] Yeah, I'll have to borrow our friends DeLorean then.
[00:08:29] That's right. We have a friend who has one. Yeah. I'm sure if we drive it to
[00:08:33] what is it? 60 miles an hour? Probably explode.
[00:08:36] You eat miles an hour. All right. So dune two we saw in cinemas, the long
[00:08:43] awaited Denny Villeneuve movie and Bryce, what did
[00:08:46] you think of Dune 2?
[00:08:48] I don't know why I'm going first on this cause, yeah, but whatever.
[00:08:54] Dune Part 2, I'll let you idiots talk about this movie.
[00:08:59] I just have a few things, say Dune Part 2, don't care about any of these characters,
[00:09:03] the film basic premise has been told a thousand times, mostly by William Shakespeare, and told better. It's boring,
[00:09:10] it's noisy, it's also well acted in spite of the simple characters with no depth that
[00:09:15] the actors had to portray, and the special effects are next level. I will give that to
[00:09:21] this movie. It is a it is a very nice looking movie
[00:09:25] I probably would have enjoyed it more if there was no sound as I didn't really care about the care what the characters were saying anyways
[00:09:33] Plus there really isn't that much of a story told so far
[00:09:36] I've now watched like six hours of this saga and what has really happened not much. that's what this was not good
[00:09:46] But it wasn't terrible. It is barely a man. I
[00:09:50] Got nothing else to say. I don't like these movies
[00:09:57] I can't rage cuz it's it's too. It's too well made to rage
[00:10:02] I can appreciate a lot of things in this movie
[00:10:13] It's definitely not made for me though. This is this is just not good. Yeah, but well made not good All right. Well, let me tell you what I thought of this movie who happens as Marie had said and my huge dune fan so
[00:10:22] Before the moon landing
[00:10:30] Before Star Wars, before even Star Trek, there was Doom. Arguably one of the best series of science fiction books ever written. Now we have part two
[00:10:38] of the first book, which if you all remember the last movie, I said it was the greatest science fiction film ever made
[00:10:48] and not a spin-off franchise,
[00:10:51] but the OG of sci-fi.
[00:10:54] Finally now complete is part two,
[00:10:58] directed by who I would consider the greatest sci-fi director
[00:11:02] ever made and ever alive,
[00:11:04] Denny Villanette.
[00:11:06] Where unlike Bryce, I believe that the music in Dune Part One
[00:11:11] started an important way of utilizing music and sound
[00:11:14] that had enveloped every aspect of filmmaking
[00:11:17] where the music was created simultaneously
[00:11:20] at the same time of the story was being created
[00:11:23] as opposed to after like a lot of the movies that we get now.
[00:11:27] Are you being paid by Danny Villeneuve?
[00:11:29] Like, what is this?
[00:11:31] Not at all.
[00:11:32] This film balances sci-fi fantasy,
[00:11:35] religion, politics, and storytelling
[00:11:37] with masterful craftsmanship,
[00:11:39] with a cast that is brilliant
[00:11:41] and utilized to their greatest potential.
[00:11:44] This movie was a masterpiece of science fiction, filmmaking, FX, music, sound and vision.
[00:11:50] It was a perfect companion to the already perfect movie.
[00:11:53] This film was the greatest science fiction film and series ever made and is mondo.
[00:11:58] Beyond belief.
[00:12:00] Don't even talk to me about another Star Wars reboot.
[00:12:04] I'm just waiting for the gift that will be Dune Part 3.
[00:12:09] And the most important thing through this entire movie
[00:12:12] was my huge Timothy Shallow Boner, which was raging on through this entire film.
[00:12:18] He was fantastic. I love him.
[00:12:21] I want to... I can't have his babies, but if I could, I would have Shallow Babies. That's all I'm him. I want to I can't have his babies, but if I could I would have shallow babies. That's all I'm saying
[00:12:29] This movie is fantastic. I loved every second of it. Mm-hmm. I wish I could live inside the Dune universe
[00:12:34] I I just find them frustrating. Yeah, you know the thing is with you and
[00:12:39] I think most people who listen to our podcast know that you're not a huge sci-fi fantasy fan.
[00:12:45] What do you mean?
[00:12:46] Dude, where's my car?
[00:12:47] Is like one of my favorite movies?
[00:12:49] I just, not sci-fi fantasy.
[00:12:50] You literally, he just proved.
[00:12:52] Truth your own point, yeah.
[00:12:53] Why your own point?
[00:12:54] Exactly.
[00:12:55] And we don't have to go into that discussion
[00:12:56] because I'm not gonna argue it about it
[00:12:58] not being a sci-fi film,
[00:13:00] but I'm just saying that is your favorite sci-fi film.
[00:13:02] So you're not a real huge fan.
[00:13:04] Plus you also don't like Alien or Aliens.
[00:13:07] No, those movies are not good.
[00:13:09] They are both fantastic.
[00:13:10] And Alien is also one of the greatest movies ever made.
[00:13:13] No.
[00:13:14] You know what?
[00:13:15] That's all I've got.
[00:13:16] That's what I and the rest of the I will admit
[00:13:18] that this movie definitely was not made for me.
[00:13:20] There's no question of that.
[00:13:22] And we'll talk more about it a minute,
[00:13:24] but let's hear what the MERS thought,
[00:13:25] because the MERS also not a big fan.
[00:13:28] I am not, but it's funny you should mention Star Wars,
[00:13:33] which is pretty much the only sci-fi.
[00:13:35] I actually like, not even crazy about Star Trek,
[00:13:38] really, except for Shatner.
[00:13:41] Yeah, I was really glad to have a Dune expert sitting beside me and the fact that
[00:13:47] a theater was, there was hardly anybody in there.
[00:13:49] So I could actually ask him questions because I didn't know what the hell was going on for
[00:13:53] a lot of it.
[00:13:54] I'm like, like, I don't even remember the first one.
[00:13:57] I barely remember the first one other than the fact that it ended with them out in the
[00:14:00] desert with, with the sandworms.
[00:14:02] That's all I remember of that and his dad died at the beginning of it. That's all I remember from the first one.
[00:14:07] That's my first one. That was three hours. So this one.
[00:14:10] And that's that's also the point. Not much happened.
[00:14:14] But there is still one happened. I forgot the Stellen Scars guard was in it.
[00:14:18] Okay. As Jabba the Hunt. I forgot he was in it. He was the first one too right?
[00:14:24] Once again, Murray's making good points not very original. Okay, as jab of the hunt I forgot he was in it. He was the first one too, right once again
[00:14:25] Yeah, Murray's making good points not very original. I don't care. It's original
[00:14:29] I'm just saying this it came first. I know first I realize it came first, but I wasn't born in
[00:14:35] 1958 yeah, whatever the books came out. I was born in the Star Wars era, so I compared everything in movies
[00:14:41] So what does that tell you this star wars? This is just Basically, well, yeah, that's where George Lucas got it from.
[00:14:49] Oh, you can be read Dune a few times too.
[00:14:50] So just saying.
[00:14:51] There you go.
[00:14:52] Star Wars is more relatable.
[00:14:54] So yeah, you got the Darth Vader character.
[00:14:56] You got the grandson of Darth Vader.
[00:14:59] Trying to get Tumi's photos out.
[00:15:01] But it's like, yeah, and then you had a fat jab of the hot,
[00:15:03] you had a jab of the hot.
[00:15:04] There's a lot of Darth Vader's in this. There not a lot and then there's the two two two bald brothers
[00:15:09] who basically that's where George Lucas went wrong you didn't have multiple that Darth
[00:15:14] Vader's right he has a emperor and then Darth Vader for me watching the movie it was like
[00:15:19] watching the Ewoks try to battle the stormtroopers because the the evil empire the
[00:15:26] emperors you know the Stellus guards are the barons armies had all this
[00:15:31] technology and they're like fighting him but like sticks and stuff like where's
[00:15:35] all your weapons like you kill these guys and then you have no you just take
[00:15:39] their guns but they're not they're like take they're planning traps for them
[00:15:43] and stuff but it's like this is again the whole politics of the books as they're not they're like take they're planning traps for them and stuff But it's like this is again the whole politics of the books as they're written
[00:15:47] Yeah, I remember this came after the Cold War
[00:15:50] So that was how I got through watching the movie was I just kept thinking okay
[00:15:55] This is how it was like Star Wars and how Star Wars ripped off
[00:15:59] I'm just saying that's how it's Star Wars. That's how I was able to understand it, but then like I really enjoyed
[00:16:06] The war the fighting aspect the battles. I enjoyed that part
[00:16:11] The religious stuff
[00:16:13] Not so much. I didn't understand any of that crap. I didn't get it
[00:16:16] I didn't understand what like all the the Jesuit priestesses and all that I'm on the edge of my seat right now
[00:16:22] Because I have no idea what you're gonna rate this
[00:16:25] Again, it was three hours long, but there was quite a bit of action and you got like
[00:16:30] Dave Batista and you got Austin Butler who I love and you got Rebecca Ferguson
[00:16:34] I'm in love with although she's pregnant this one. So did you have a total shallow boner as well?
[00:16:39] He's all right. He's I get a little more respect for him than I used to but yeah nice. He's had a good year or so
[00:16:44] He's alright. I get a little more respect for him than I used to but yeah nice. He's had a good year or so
[00:16:49] But yeah, it had an amazing cast and as long as I stuck to the war aspect
[00:16:55] You know the tiny rebel army the the sand people trying to take down
[00:17:04] People Empire I was okay with that part then they got to the religious stuff and I'm like what the hell is this like drinking the worm piss like I
[00:17:05] Don't know why I don't understand why is this like drinking the worm piss like I don't know
[00:17:12] Why I don't understand why is this baby able to like talk to through the mother and why does Timothy Shallow me care? What he has to think what she has to think I don't I don't get
[00:17:20] It's a baby it's not even a baby yet. It's still in the fucking wound
[00:17:25] So if you if do you remember the original dune wait, okay, let's let's go back to marine what I'm almost
[00:17:32] Enjoyed the war part of it the religious part not so much
[00:17:36] I don't think if I had watched it by myself
[00:17:38] I probably wouldn't like it because I wouldn't know what the hell is going on. Mm-hmm. Thankfully Jim was sitting beside me to explain shit to me
[00:17:44] So I was able to get through it This was never gonna be a mondo know what the hell is going on. Thankfully Jim was sitting beside me to explain shit to me,
[00:17:50] so I was able to get through it. This was never going to be a mondo for me, but it was way too confusing. And it's sci-fi. But because of the action and it had more action than the first one,
[00:17:56] it was an enjoyable myth. I didn't mind it. So there's a few things, huge dune fans
[00:18:12] There's a few things, huge dune fans who've reread the books multiple times, like our God of Rage, Casey, who's probably read dune like 20 times. Some of the things that we complain about is that in the book and in the original, the baby that's in his mom is actually born.
[00:18:23] So that's one of the things that on you tell you
[00:18:26] Yeah, so that she showed up and I'm like where is she yeah, so she's his she's the adult version of the baby vision
[00:18:33] Because remember he can see past president future now, right?
[00:18:35] So so not as good as him cuz he's the promised one. Um, no she is so
[00:18:42] She's the mother she has powers. Yeah, she's the queen, but he's he's the ultimate. That's the mother. She has powers, yeah.
[00:18:45] She's the queen.
[00:18:47] But he's the ultimate dude.
[00:18:51] So, unlike when they did,
[00:18:54] what's his face's original dune?
[00:18:59] Did he not want to put a live baby on there that could dunk?
[00:19:04] Because it looked kind of ridiculous.
[00:19:05] Yeah, in the, in the, in the, um, what's his name?
[00:19:09] God, what's his name?
[00:19:10] Eraserhead, dude.
[00:19:11] Oh, I don't remember.
[00:19:12] Uh, anyway, when he made it, there was the talking baby.
[00:19:16] So we didn't want to do that.
[00:19:17] So he had to make it a little bit different from that.
[00:19:20] And I kind of get Bryce's point, like when you're a fan of a genre and you're a fan of the book
[00:19:27] and you're a fan of the story, I get-
[00:19:31] It's the time to think you know the story already
[00:19:32] and you've read the books.
[00:19:33] And I think that-
[00:19:34] And you're expecting this.
[00:19:35] I can see what you guys are saying in particular
[00:19:38] because they have to kind of get through so much content
[00:19:43] to get to the end of it.
[00:19:44] And I can see in Bryce's and maybe your opinion,
[00:19:48] Mer that, that it's almost like you do need
[00:19:52] to know more about it because there's things that,
[00:19:55] about the religion that you're not getting
[00:19:57] the full effect of.
[00:19:58] So I don't know if this movie was made just for
[00:20:01] Dune fans in particular.
[00:20:03] And if that enough people, is that enough people in the world to continue to make these?
[00:20:07] That is the question.
[00:20:08] I did the box office, but I'm pretty sure it did.
[00:20:10] Okay.
[00:20:10] Yeah, I'm sure it did because I think people that do like science fiction are still going
[00:20:13] to like it.
[00:20:14] So yeah, I loved it.
[00:20:16] I think it's so far my favorite science fiction series of all time.
[00:20:24] And the music is fantastic.
[00:20:27] The music was not as annoying as the first one.
[00:20:30] I think you need to re-watch the first one.
[00:20:31] I did re-watch the first one right before this one.
[00:20:34] Oh, okay, good.
[00:20:35] Yes, I watched it the day before.
[00:20:36] But I think the problem we had in the first one
[00:20:38] is that we were in the first row.
[00:20:40] We saw it.
[00:20:41] And the pace.
[00:20:42] Well, it helped that I watched it here
[00:20:43] and I turned the sound way down. Yeah,
[00:20:46] because we were the like when we watched Dune 1, the three of us were sitting in the front
[00:20:50] row, right where the base is. So, and so that was okay for me because I have a base where
[00:20:56] so I was two and a half hours of.
[00:20:57] Shook my balls to delicious orgasm.
[00:21:06] I loved it.
[00:21:07] I did not.
[00:21:09] Okay, so Tuma has an Amando.
[00:21:10] We got a Mondo sandwich with some Mebred.
[00:21:13] All right, well, we also saw, as Marie had alluded to,
[00:21:17] we saw a film that was playing at Off the Cuff
[00:21:19] with our friends at Cal Grand-O-Gram Film Fest.
[00:21:22] We got a pre-screening, a sold out pre-screening
[00:21:25] at the Globe Cinema for Love Lies Bleeding.
[00:21:30] It looks like it opens this weekend.
[00:21:32] Yeah, it does. In Canada.
[00:21:33] So that'll be one movie we don't have to watch next week.
[00:21:35] I thought it opens next Friday, like a week from Friday.
[00:21:39] It says March 8th in Canada.
[00:21:40] Really? Yeah, maybe in the States.
[00:21:42] It's right.
[00:21:43] Maybe I and DB's wrong.
[00:21:44] Nice.
[00:21:44] I don't think it opens.
[00:21:45] Open suit anyway. All right. Well,
[00:21:46] that's a 15. Let me tell you what I thought of Love Lies
[00:21:49] bleeding. This film got 70s filth feel down pat. You almost
[00:21:56] feel dirty just watching it. The trashy gritty shooting style
[00:22:02] so loved in the 70s with music that was fantastic and felt so
[00:22:06] naturally part of the scenery. Ed Harris, or 1970s version of the Greasy Strangler,
[00:22:12] is at his absolute brilliance as a creepy bug-loving gun-toting gangster who has
[00:22:19] cops in his back pocket and a daughter played by Kristen Stewart who carries some sort of animosity for him
[00:22:28] that we fully don't understand until we get closer to the end. Stewart in this plays her usual
[00:22:35] unemotional self that she seems to have her now been stereotyped into.
[00:22:42] can stereotyped into. Yeah, she doesn't really.
[00:22:43] I don't think she's.
[00:22:44] Not gonna lie, she's not my favorite actor,
[00:22:47] especially in this type of role.
[00:22:49] Wow, we disagree there.
[00:22:50] You know, the angry, moody, unemotional,
[00:22:52] and unengaged role, she seems to play 85% of the time.
[00:22:57] There was so much more to this.
[00:22:58] No, dude, there was not.
[00:22:59] Yeah, there was.
[00:23:00] She's fine and doesn't really annoy me,
[00:23:03] but I just feel she is slowly either becoming
[00:23:06] the female version of Christian Slater or Remy Malek.
[00:23:09] You pick your pick.
[00:23:11] She's very typecast and she didn't show any emotion
[00:23:14] in this movie, hardly at all.
[00:23:16] I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:23:17] She had the same pouty angry face on through the entire movie.
[00:23:22] Yes, agree.
[00:23:26] Yeah, that's okay. You have a voice.
[00:23:27] I love it.
[00:23:28] The rest of the cast was natural and outstanding, like Dave Franco and a bearish, bearish
[00:23:35] nikov.
[00:23:36] Katie O'Brien as the second lead in this, the atmosphere is crafted brilliantly and
[00:23:42] you really get a feel and feel part of the just
[00:23:46] jointed and estranged family.
[00:23:47] The subtext of this film is that people will do anything for the ones they love including
[00:23:53] kill for or make dead bodies disappear.
[00:23:57] The pacing was well paced but I also felt it was a bit long even though the pacing was
[00:24:02] still fine and the fantastical scenes that crept up in the end,
[00:24:07] although made me laugh while I was watching it,
[00:24:09] felt a little out of place in the movie
[00:24:11] that they had crafted thus far.
[00:24:13] I really, really, really liked this period piece,
[00:24:16] lesbian love story, including the sweet, sweet,
[00:24:19] lesbian love scenes.
[00:24:21] But that's it, I really, really liked it a lot.
[00:24:24] I did not love it. So it was a very high man
[00:24:28] Where you
[00:24:32] I'm saying I did not love it. I really liked it. Mm-hmm
[00:24:38] It's not no it is not
[00:24:42] It is a nut. Let's see you there, merman.
[00:24:46] Uh, well, I thought you were likely more than that, but um, yeah, it uh, add a lot of things
[00:24:53] I like than it.
[00:24:54] Like, uh, and as you know, and people at Cuff know, stuff they present is not always
[00:25:02] for me.
[00:25:03] Because mainstream mer, they call you. Some of the weird stuff is just a little too weird this one
[00:25:09] Did get weird at the end. That's why I told Brenda when she said how'd you like it? I'm like yeah, it was good
[00:25:14] Just said it was really weird at the end. I said
[00:25:16] But yeah, I had a she-hulk in it. So there you go and
[00:25:21] It was like setting what the 80s. It must have been the 80s 70s sure it was 70
[00:25:25] That it was the 80s those cars were very 70s
[00:25:28] Well doesn't mean it could have been 70s models, but they're they're poor people so
[00:25:33] It might have been the early 80s anyway, it was the age of steroids anyway
[00:25:36] When before they started testing for that stuff. I would say it was probably early 80s
[00:25:41] This the music in the fashion to me seemed like it was 80s anyway, you know what me. Yeah, I'm all about the 80s just the music in the fashion to me seem like it was 80 anyway, you know what me
[00:25:45] I'm all about the 80s. Yeah
[00:25:48] Yeah, and again, Kristen Stewart doesn't know he's very sometimes just very flat and monotone and all of her
[00:25:55] I mean, I don't know who you guys are watching. Yeah, we're watching her dudes. We didn't love her then again
[00:26:01] Her stupid vampire your favorite vampire movies twilight so you have
[00:26:07] Vampire move no, that's by the way. That's not true at all. That's not my favorite
[00:26:12] But it's not fair to you is my favorite vampire
[00:26:15] And I thought I thought it was I thought it was not like that the light right right right what I let the right one in the
[00:26:21] American. Oh, that's the one we all agreed on
[00:26:23] Let the right one in the American. No, that's the one we all agreed on
[00:26:29] Okay, but anyway, I know but let the right one in also those movies aside Which I mean she was basically boink in the star of it and then eventually the director
[00:26:33] I mean, but since then don't even know she's kind of a hidden miss. Yeah, like I enjoyed some stuff
[00:26:38] She didn't some she didn't but this one she was really good and she has she wasn't really
[00:26:43] Well, you think she's a victim in it, but she was really good and yeah she wasn't really well you think she's a victim in it but she's really not like her dad is at Harris who was
[00:26:50] freaking badass and you think he's like you know the biggest badass but turns
[00:26:57] out that you know she's more badass than him so yeah I enjoyed a lot of it I
[00:27:04] don't think I would give an
[00:27:05] amanda. Probably a man. Yeah, it was good. I enjoyed it.
[00:27:10] So you're same as me. You liked it a lot. It was a nice thrill ride
[00:27:13] until the end there. But yeah, I enjoyed the, you know, the she
[00:27:16] Hulk minus the green paint. And I was shocked to discover who that
[00:27:21] actually was. Because I did I recognize the face, but I didn't know
[00:27:26] because her hair is different, and she obviously put on
[00:27:29] like 80 pounds of muscle.
[00:27:31] She was on like one episode of Nathan Fillion's The Rookie,
[00:27:34] like one episode, and she was smaller, and she had
[00:27:37] sharp blonde hair, and I'm like, that's the same one.
[00:27:39] What the hell is a Nathan Fillion's The Rookie?
[00:27:42] Anyway, just saying she looks a lot different than she did in that. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I did hardly recognize her. That's what they call body acting, I think. That was a Nathan Philian's the rookie. lies bleeding. Well, sir.
[00:28:06] Rose glasses follow up to Saint Maude as a violent graphic depiction of the lengths we
[00:28:10] can go when love is involved.
[00:28:12] The first time we were introduced to Lou, played by Kristen Stewart, she is elbow deep
[00:28:16] in a toilet bowl trying to unclog it.
[00:28:19] It sort of sets the stage just throughout the film she is fixing and cleaning up after
[00:28:23] others messes.
[00:28:25] And things get really messy.
[00:28:27] I thought the toilet bowl was bad, but that's nothing compared to the situations Lou has
[00:28:32] to deal with in the coming weeks.
[00:28:35] One day Lou meets Jackie played by Katie O'Brien at the gym she manages, and from there the
[00:28:40] film starts to take off.
[00:28:42] There is a momentum to this tale that gains steam as the story plays out,
[00:28:46] rounding out the cast or Dave Franco with a killer mullet, as the abusive husband of
[00:28:51] Lou's sister played by Jenna Malone who I usually hate but she was quite good.
[00:28:55] I didn't even recognize her. And in a deliciously evil role Ed Harris is at his best as Lou's father,
[00:29:01] Lou's senior. Every time Harris is on screen, he kind of steals the scene.
[00:29:07] All of these characters have the same thing in common as they are all trapped in this town for various reasons.
[00:29:14] A lot of this movie is about whether Lou can break free from the grip that this town has on her with Jackie's help,
[00:29:21] or will Jackie get trapped like everyone else?
[00:29:25] Rose Glass takes some big swings in this film, especially towards the end,
[00:29:29] that will either land with you or it won't.
[00:29:32] I will say, in Luz-Eyes, Jackie is larger than life, so I think the ending was good.
[00:29:38] And, back to Kristen Stewart for a minute.
[00:29:41] She continues to prove that she is an excellent actor and she seems to be getting
[00:29:46] better every time I see her. No one could have portrayed this complex character any better than
[00:29:51] she did. She nails Liu and is able to portray a very vulnerable character who at the same time
[00:29:58] can show confidence and strength if the situation requires it. Stewart was great, no matter what these weiners say.
[00:30:06] The rest of the cast was also great, the pacing was great, the chances the glass took were
[00:30:11] great, I just respect the swings she took, and as I say, may not land with everybody
[00:30:18] totally landed with me.
[00:30:19] And heck, even the transition into the closing credits was great, as we get one last little
[00:30:24] scene that left me smiling
[00:30:26] I loved this film. It was mondo nice. I'm glad I'm glad you did like it
[00:30:32] Yeah, for me the ending. I didn't like the swing. I just felt I didn't like I didn't like the ending
[00:30:38] It was just it was a normal movie up until like the last 15 minutes and then like what?
[00:30:45] movie up until like the last 15 minutes and then like what the hell yeah there was yeah it was like a dream sequencing thing I'm like is it real is it not real like I did
[00:30:49] stuff was great yeah I disagree I know but I I can see why you liked it like it is there's
[00:30:56] a really good solid film if it didn't have some of that and I did find it was too long
[00:31:02] I don't know what they would have cut but I I, yeah. I know, but it felt long to me.
[00:31:06] So for that reason, I couldn't love it.
[00:31:08] But I'm sorry, I'm gonna disagree with you.
[00:31:11] I am not a huge Christmas Stewart fan.
[00:31:14] I've seen her in maybe two roles, right?
[00:31:16] That she's outstanding.
[00:31:17] She was so good in this.
[00:31:18] I would say, okay, so I'll maybe give you,
[00:31:20] I think she did, this role was handcrafted for her.
[00:31:24] But again, I go back to the same thing i said about remi malik and christian
[00:31:28] steward
[00:31:29] they are i don't know how you can see her
[00:31:31] remi malik's insulator awful no but nobody plays creepy weird dude
[00:31:36] as good as remi malik and some
[00:31:38] repulsive dude
[00:31:40] remi yeah no so i would say that remi malik's in a in a
[00:31:44] in a film he plays the same he says okay. Yeah, he's the same in everything and that to me. That's how I feel with Kristen Stewart
[00:31:51] I didn't feel I didn't feel there was scenes in this that stretched her past her normal
[00:31:57] Acting range. That's what I felt. I think she did it really good
[00:32:01] But I don't think it's I still don't think she's a great actor.
[00:32:05] She has a one note for me so far,
[00:32:07] and I haven't seen much change of that.
[00:32:10] So I'm not gonna give her the kudos
[00:32:12] that you just pumped her tires.
[00:32:15] Yeah, well.
[00:32:16] That's what you get.
[00:32:17] That's what you get.
[00:32:19] What you get.
[00:32:20] So looks like we can't remember mess sandwich.
[00:32:24] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Well, you know what? I think it's still good. So, looks like we can't remember another mess sandwich.
[00:32:27] Yes. Well, you know what?
[00:32:28] I think we could all agree that this was a good movie.
[00:32:32] And people should see this movie in cinema.
[00:32:36] And I think that we'd like to know what you think about it.
[00:32:39] Like when you do get to see it in a week or so, let us know your thoughts.
[00:32:42] Because it's definitely worth seeing in cinemas.
[00:32:46] The whole feel of this has that late 70s, early 80s feel,
[00:32:52] feel to films.
[00:32:54] Did you not feel that you felt gritty and dirty
[00:32:56] as you watched it?
[00:32:57] It had such a great-
[00:32:58] No, Rose Glass is a good director.
[00:33:01] Her first effort was good and this one was excellent.
[00:33:03] So this one was also good. I would agree. It was excellent. No it was really good.
[00:33:11] Excellent.
[00:33:21] Alright.
[00:33:26] Ooh! Ooh!
[00:33:27] Well...
[00:33:28] I stumbled across an article recently, and I saved it for this week.
[00:33:33] Nice!
[00:33:34] You know.
[00:33:35] Uh...
[00:33:36] It was about the worst movies of 2024 so far.
[00:33:40] Okay.
[00:33:41] I know we're only three months in, but...
[00:33:44] Uh, full disclosure disclosure this is not my
[00:33:46] list I agree with some of it and I know you guys agree with almost all of it
[00:33:52] all right well let us can we can we try we're gonna chime in every you know
[00:33:55] where they had it's not long all right good first up we have our guy yeah there
[00:34:01] was awful I actually love this movie I. I'm the only one on the whole planet
[00:34:05] The whole planet to maybe Ron Howard cuz you know his daughters in it. Yeah, she's terrible
[00:34:11] Sam Rockwell Brian Cranston Katherine to her a Henry Cabill John Cena. What can go wrong with that? That movie right?
[00:34:17] Tell us how apparently major box office bomb for the usual reliable Matthew bond. I like first-style of Swahward.
[00:34:25] I don't like her at all.
[00:34:26] Next, Lisa Frankenstein.
[00:34:29] I'm not that big, that was terrible.
[00:34:30] I don't know why people hated on this.
[00:34:33] It was cute, can't be and funny.
[00:34:35] It was just bad.
[00:34:36] Beetlejuice meets Heathers.
[00:34:37] I personally loved it.
[00:34:39] I liked it.
[00:34:39] Poop meets poop.
[00:34:41] Still, it also bombed the box shop.
[00:34:43] As it should.
[00:34:43] Whaat went. Next up, Miller's Girl. poop meets poop still it also bomb the box up as it should have been
[00:34:45] next up
[00:34:46] millers girl
[00:34:48] don't know what that is that
[00:34:50] he got you tonight
[00:34:52] jenna or tega
[00:34:54] uh... and my favorite hobbit
[00:34:57] remit
[00:34:58] okay well there's
[00:35:00] freeman plays as three minutes
[00:35:02] probably something you should avoid anyways
[00:35:10] Freeman plays a much older teacher in a creepy affair with his students
[00:35:17] Yeah, I can see how people might have a problem. Hey, did we even we didn't get this in cinema's here because we never saw it
[00:35:21] Okay, next up float
[00:35:27] float actually came out last year if anybody actually saw it. Robbie Amell.
[00:35:28] Oh god.
[00:35:29] He plays a lifeguard.
[00:35:30] You don't even think the goal is any further.
[00:35:32] Lifeguard who falls in love with a young Asian girl.
[00:35:34] It doesn't matter.
[00:35:35] Robbie Amell's brutal.
[00:35:36] Love story gone wrong.
[00:35:37] He cannot make a good movie.
[00:35:39] At least he was shot in VC so there's that.
[00:35:42] There's some money into Canada man.
[00:35:44] Both the Amelles need to just go away.
[00:35:46] Oh, one of them did, because the cancels his show.
[00:35:50] Next up, the underdogs.
[00:35:53] That's with two Gs.
[00:35:55] Oh, that's Snoop Dogg.
[00:35:56] The stars, you know who, the OG Snoop.
[00:35:58] Oh, yeah, that's on Amazon right now.
[00:36:01] I was going to watch it, but it looks terrible.
[00:36:03] He plays a former NFL player who coaches some kids.
[00:36:07] Oh, that's right.
[00:36:08] I started watching this.
[00:36:09] I watched the first five minutes
[00:36:10] and what this is the worst five minutes of a movie ever.
[00:36:13] This is our rated and most likely unwatchable.
[00:36:15] It was unwatchable.
[00:36:17] Next up, Night Swim.
[00:36:20] Yeah, this was terrible.
[00:36:21] It was a lame pool in the pool order of food.
[00:36:27] I like what you did there.
[00:36:28] And it wasn't scary.
[00:36:30] Bad acting, bad special effects, etc.
[00:36:33] Yeah, it wasn't that bad.
[00:36:35] And the winner is...
[00:36:37] Madam Web.
[00:36:39] Oh yeah, that was torture.
[00:36:41] No surprise, Peter.
[00:36:42] I was smart enough to not spend money to see this latest Marvel piece.
[00:36:46] You mean you weren't as lucky as me to see it in X?
[00:36:49] That's right. Even the star of the film trashed in after she made it.
[00:36:54] Oh yeah look at her online and she freaking hated it.
[00:36:57] She needs to go away too though. Every movie she picks is going to be.
[00:37:02] I didn't even realize it was a character from the old Spider-Man comics in cartoon.
[00:37:06] Because that character is supposed to be an old blind woman with dark glasses and gray hair.
[00:37:12] Oh, well, no. That's not who they cast.
[00:37:14] Wait, is that...
[00:37:15] Now it's a young blind woman with dark glasses.
[00:37:17] Is it the same one as in Deadpool? Is that who it is? Is it a roommate?
[00:37:23] Oh, it's a black-
[00:37:24] Yeah, that's who it is. Okay is that it is roommate who's blind no
[00:37:31] oh she seems really smart
[00:37:37] Fred Bill Bob
[00:37:38] she was a guy's name but yes she was awesome no it's in the cartoon I actually
[00:37:44] saw the old
[00:37:45] spider-man cartoon spider-man does what he's talking to her and yeah it's
[00:37:49] the web like grey air just like that look at her should have been just Nice! Gree or disagree it's up to you
[00:38:10] Temperature rising
[00:38:38] Vision blurring rage taking over Oh my sweet, bitch. Oh, I love you so.
[00:38:42] All right, my rage this week is super lame. I'm not gonna lie. I had a pretty awesome event at
[00:38:53] the movies this week. Pretty much fully enjoying myself both times. We got a film rage party at
[00:39:01] the cuff event where all three of us got to sit together and watch a movie, and then me and the Mercer,
[00:39:06] Dune II.
[00:39:09] So my, my big complaint or my rage for this week
[00:39:15] is gonna be that I had diarrhea twice.
[00:39:20] That's my rage.
[00:39:22] For no apparent reason.
[00:39:23] Woke me up at the middle of the night at 3 o'clock.
[00:39:26] That was my rage. I did it two nights in a row.
[00:39:28] I have no idea how. But when I woke up...
[00:39:32] But I did not shit my bed. So...
[00:39:36] There you go.
[00:39:37] That's my rage.
[00:39:40] Oh yeah, okay. They've got nothing to say about it.
[00:39:44] Price has lived it, he knows. That's true rage. Oh, had diarrhea twice.
[00:40:13] That's the lamest thing I've ever heard in my life.
[00:40:15] Hey, if we go back like three months, you raged about taking a molyon.
[00:40:19] Did I rage about her?
[00:40:20] Yes, you did.
[00:40:21] Yes, you did.
[00:40:22] Just conversation that came up.
[00:40:23] No, you actually raged about you taking a m. Because that stuff's horrible. But still, I
[00:40:29] can't... I'm gonna rage about something dealing with your bowels. It's okay, but
[00:40:33] when I want to rage about my bowels, it's like not okay. Yeah, because my bowels
[00:40:37] are more interesting. Are they? I think so. No. They're really really not I'm changing my range. My range isn't about my bowels. It's about him
[00:40:52] First
[00:40:55] We had a pretty good week at the movies what are you to say? It's okay. Well wait, they're gonna mean there's stuff coming, but it's just like... I was fine.
[00:41:05] In So if you're listening to us for the first time go to our website film rage yyc.com
[00:41:26] Which is newly renewed for another two years?
[00:41:31] So for those of you listening if you want to help us pay for our website, which cost us
[00:41:35] $160 us no Canadian converted a year please start helping us and donating money
[00:41:42] Our cost is $320.
[00:41:45] Yeah, for two years.
[00:41:46] So, by the by two.
[00:41:48] And then eventually by three, once Murray gets some money
[00:41:52] in his bank account.
[00:41:53] So yeah, so go to our website, film raid YSE
[00:41:57] and look at the lists.
[00:41:59] You will find five lists.
[00:42:01] You will find the doubted, the undoubted, the mesmerizing, and the repulsive.
[00:42:07] We have spent, oh, and our final list is people who were once mesmerizing, but were removed from the mesmerizing list. So,
[00:42:16] the
[00:42:18] list that we have been working off is the mesmerized list for a long time. It's almost consistent because we truly do not believe
[00:42:26] that some of you could be fully mesmerizing all the time
[00:42:31] and we're learning that they're not.
[00:42:33] So the big question for this week,
[00:42:36] and we'll talk about Denny Villenev in a minute,
[00:42:38] but the big question for this week,
[00:42:40] because this is the first time we've had a repulsive off
[00:42:43] because we've never had
[00:42:45] two people that are repulsive being the same movie,
[00:42:48] except we found out that Paul Walker and Vin Diesel
[00:42:54] were in the same movie together.
[00:42:55] Oh, multiple times.
[00:42:57] You don't say.
[00:42:57] And it doesn't matter which one you watch.
[00:43:00] Yeah, it's kind of true.
[00:43:02] Well, it is kind of-
[00:43:03] And then, I mean, see, Paul Walker died. So yeah, he wasn't an old and also the
[00:43:07] saddest thing about this is because I started watching too
[00:43:11] fast, too furious. And I got 20 minutes into it. I'm like,
[00:43:15] wait a minute. I don't think Vin Diesel saw him in it. Yeah.
[00:43:20] And I maybe it was a flashback scene, but it could be but I
[00:43:23] watched about 10 minutes. I'm like, okay, this is the second one.
[00:43:26] Yeah. So we were supposed to originally watch Too Fast, Too Furious.
[00:43:29] So I called Bryce instantly to save him 20 minutes of torture.
[00:43:33] And I said, Bryce, do not watch Too Fast, Too Furious.
[00:43:37] We need to watch a different movie.
[00:43:39] Fast and Furious.
[00:43:40] And so we couldn't watch.
[00:43:41] We didn't watch the first one.
[00:43:43] No, we watched faster and furious
[00:43:46] I thought it was just fast and furious. Yes, we did see fast and furious
[00:43:50] But we couldn't see Tokyo drift because they both weren't in that all there were no neither of them are in
[00:43:55] Because it was in Tokyo so that one I did actually watch and there probably wasn't anybody in that that was repulsive
[00:44:01] I don't know. I don't wonder we watch that either to find out
[00:44:03] But what I'm gonna tell you I think we need to put a stop to the Fast and Furious series because I don't
[00:44:08] even... You know all the repulses of options... But no, no, no, no. All I'm saying is I don't even know
[00:44:13] which ones I've watched now. So you could give me the same Fast and Furious movie like 12 times in a row.
[00:44:19] And you wouldn't know. And I wouldn't know. So at this point we must have watched most of them.
[00:44:24] Well our website's up to me. No more... Our website's up to you. Fast and Furious. No, I wouldn't know so at this point we must have watched most of them well our websites
[00:44:25] No more our website's up to you so we can always find it get a keep track of all the stuff no more
[00:44:31] No, nine they went to space. That's why I know it's not and and you know what maybe they're getting better because Bryce gave the last one
[00:44:38] A man I did that because of a mamoa
[00:44:41] It's the only time I've ever really enjoyed mamoa
[00:44:44] I'm not a enjoyed Momoa.
[00:44:45] They brought back.
[00:44:45] I'm not a Momoa fan.
[00:44:46] I brought back all of the actors from the previous nine
[00:44:49] all in one movie.
[00:44:50] Oh my god.
[00:44:52] That's another, wait, I'm changing my rage again.
[00:44:55] It's Bryce giving it a match.
[00:44:56] It was a cliffhanger.
[00:44:57] Fast and furious.
[00:44:57] You know it was 11 coming because they didn't resolve
[00:45:00] anything.
[00:45:00] Oh my god.
[00:45:01] Nine rages and a mess.
[00:45:02] All right, so what I want to say is,
[00:45:06] it was very obvious to me who was more repulsive.
[00:45:09] It's not even close.
[00:45:10] Yeah, it's Vin Diesel.
[00:45:12] Oh my God, are you serious?
[00:45:14] No, I'm serious, I can't stand him.
[00:45:16] You are an idiot.
[00:45:17] No, you are an idiot.
[00:45:18] Paul Walker is so much more.
[00:45:21] No, you have lost your mind
[00:45:28] How can you even watch this guy?
[00:45:35] Is the most repulsive actor walking the face while he's not walking
[00:45:41] Walk in the face of your, it is by far Vin Diesel.
[00:45:45] I can't stand him in anything.
[00:45:47] I would watch Vin Diesel movies back to back.
[00:45:50] Did you play a baby?
[00:45:52] Months in a row rather than watching Paul Walker movie like two of them.
[00:45:56] No, I could just look at it.
[00:45:57] I would watch Denise Richards for every night for the rest of my life.
[00:46:02] I love watching her as long as I don't...
[00:46:04] He can turn the sound down, I'm okay with it.
[00:46:06] Yeah, no, you know what, unfortunately,
[00:46:09] but you know what, it is kind of fortunate
[00:46:10] because they're both are repulsive.
[00:46:12] So it's a...
[00:46:13] So we accomplished nothing.
[00:46:16] So we watched this move,
[00:46:17] Stinking Movie for nothing.
[00:46:18] Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[00:46:22] no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[00:46:23] because they were in another movie together. So we may have to go and watch that one because maybe, what do you mean? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, The Furious is now over we've put it to bed you think Vin Diesel is Apparently better than Paul Walker, which I don't understand the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I don't say better
[00:46:49] I said more repulsive. I said more repulsive more
[00:46:53] Whatever, I'm all confused
[00:46:55] Anyways, fact of the matter is I'm not I'm I'm putting my foot down. I'm not watching another fast in the furious movie
[00:47:02] I'm less than new one comes out. I will watch any new one.
[00:47:06] But one through 10 are off the table.
[00:47:09] I'm never watching one through 10 again.
[00:47:11] I don't care what you say.
[00:47:13] I don't care who dares me to watch it.
[00:47:15] It's not happening.
[00:47:17] Done.
[00:47:18] I'm done.
[00:47:20] What do you say, Baxter?
[00:47:22] Baxter's on Team Jim here.
[00:47:24] You can see he's giving me more love than his own daddy.
[00:47:27] Yeah, well.
[00:47:28] So he apparently knows that Vin Diesel is more repulsive.
[00:47:31] Actually, Marie, what's your opinion on this?
[00:47:34] You must have an opinion on the two of them.
[00:47:35] Well, he loves Paul Walker.
[00:47:38] He's pretty much a cardboard cutout
[00:47:40] and Vin Diesel just is a terrible actor, so it's a draw.
[00:47:43] So who's more repulsive? Come on. Let's at least let that I would understand I would say Vin Diesel
[00:47:50] because I Paul Walker is more of his movies what's the difference between Paul
[00:47:53] Walker and I don't know what it that that dude that you keep on talking about
[00:47:58] with the rookie and all those TV show yeah what's the difference between the
[00:48:03] two of them you You mean Kristen Stewart?
[00:48:05] So, no.
[00:48:07] They've been filling on a treasure.
[00:48:10] They've been filling on a treasure.
[00:48:12] He's a Canadian treasure from Edmonton, Alberta.
[00:48:14] So you just shut your buy hole.
[00:48:16] That's right.
[00:48:17] I don't like it.
[00:48:18] You keep your lips closed about Nathan.
[00:48:20] Well, lucky if you, he only does TV anymore.
[00:48:22] That's right.
[00:48:23] Thank goodness.
[00:48:24] All right, Well, okay.
[00:48:25] So the other thing we had to talk about, thanks to Bryce,
[00:48:28] actually also thanks to Murray,
[00:48:29] because they both met the last dune.
[00:48:32] By By Villeneuve.
[00:48:33] So Denny Villeneuve is no longer undoubted,
[00:48:36] except in my mind.
[00:48:38] So bye bye, Denny.
[00:48:40] You were good where you lasted.
[00:48:42] I still think he's the best science fiction director of all time.
[00:48:45] Because he's done a lot of science fiction and they're all fantastic.
[00:48:49] I know.
[00:48:50] I know you did the Blade Runner thing.
[00:48:52] Yeah, what the big winner 2049.
[00:48:55] I mean the new one.
[00:48:56] Yeah.
[00:48:56] Yeah, 2049.
[00:48:57] He also did a rival.
[00:48:58] He had Gosling in it.
[00:48:59] So yeah, which was also.
[00:49:01] Mondo.
[00:49:02] Yeah.
[00:49:02] Okay.
[00:49:02] I'm saying he was great up until this garbage
[00:49:06] And the thing is I feel bad because he you know
[00:49:10] You do the best you can with the material you're given and I think he has I think there's a pretty yes
[00:49:16] They're pretty movies to look at it's like Sky captain in the world of tomorrow
[00:49:21] Do I want to watch that movie and listen to them talk?
[00:49:23] No, could I watch that movie with some good tunes playing in the background and just take in all that
[00:49:29] that movie is visually? Absolutely. It's fantastic. As long as I don't have to hear them talk or
[00:49:34] hear the music that's in the movie. Just like Dune. You are so wrong.
[00:49:41] All right. So do you have a charge for us for next week, the mer? Uh, no, I don't.
[00:49:46] Alright, well, stay tuned everybody because we may have someone we're talking about from the list.
[00:49:50] Before we go on...
[00:49:51] I have to read jig-dilis.
[00:49:52] Yes.
[00:49:52] When we...
[00:49:53] You've got...
[00:49:54] I was just looking at our website and...
[00:49:56] Yes.
[00:49:56] You've got a couple of confusing things on there which we'll talk about at some point.
[00:49:59] But one is...
[00:50:00] Is Alexander Payne not undoubted now that the holdovers is out?
[00:50:06] I forgot, what did we actually talk about I thought that was before the holdovers
[00:50:10] That Alexander Payne was brought up and I I personally look back eat and I've got him
[00:50:16] I've got him undoubted. Oh, okay, so did we did we talk about him already?
[00:50:20] We don't think we talked about him. We did talk about him. That's why you got you've got him on
[00:50:28] You've got him on the website as one more movie.
[00:50:31] Oh, so that probably was before. And I think it was before the holdovers.
[00:50:33] Do you want to go down through his movies just to make sure?
[00:50:36] You know for sure it's eight.
[00:50:37] Yeah.
[00:50:38] Okay, well then he's officially endowed it.
[00:50:40] Are we doing this now?
[00:50:42] Yeah, just sure break it down.
[00:50:43] Okay, well now I got to find Okay. Well now I gotta find it
[00:50:45] Well, you should probably be more prepared why complaining about everybody else never being prepared enough
[00:50:51] Because I have one of those walking around. Oh, I've got I've got what's one of these computers in the computers recording our show. Yeah
[00:50:59] Be messing that up. Yeah, it's under control
[00:51:02] You know what?
[00:51:04] You're an idiot. All right, so there was the holdovers, which was mondo. Yeah downsizing, which was ma they have
[00:51:13] Nebraska, which was mondo. Yep the descendants, which was mondo. Yep
[00:51:19] Parrish attempt was mondo
[00:51:22] Where'd it go?
[00:51:22] was Mondo. Where'd it go?
[00:51:28] Yep, was Mondo. Sideways was Mondo's.
[00:51:30] A Bochmit was Mondo.
[00:51:32] Election was Mondo.
[00:51:34] Citizen Ruth was Maa.
[00:51:36] And that's eight.
[00:51:38] Okay, so he's undoed.
[00:51:40] Did we agree about all those two, by the way?
[00:51:42] Yes, well, I think I had a mondo where you had a map,
[00:51:45] but that's fine.
[00:51:45] Yeah.
[00:51:46] All right.
[00:51:47] So we're good.
[00:51:48] Elizan's obtain is officially undoubted.
[00:51:50] We took off Denny, we added on Alexei.
[00:51:53] There we go.
[00:51:54] Cause I was looking at it.
[00:51:55] I was like, how is he not undoded?
[00:51:57] I didn't have to get mad about it, just bring it up.
[00:51:59] Well, I did.
[00:52:01] I just noticed you got mad about it.
[00:52:03] No, I did bring it up. I didn't get mad. Now I'm mad'm mad. Okay. Good. It's good. You should have that as your rage
[00:52:09] Pretzels are making me thirsty
[00:52:13] Yeah, there's pretzels all right. I hate pretzels. I don't understand. That's another thing that makes me rage
[00:52:17] Why do people like pretzels like she went on salted cardboard? I don't know I like pretzels
[00:52:22] I like it cuz you know salty. salty yeah you get salty and then you get thirsty
[00:52:26] I always pick them out of the bag of snacks and give them to me because I love pretzels.
[00:52:36] Pretzels are awful.
[00:52:37] These pretzels are making me satiated for deliciousness.
[00:52:40] All right.
[00:52:41] All right.
[00:52:42] Well I guess that's it we go for the least.
[00:52:43] All right then.
[00:52:44] I guess. For the least. for the least. Alright then, I guess.
[00:52:45] For the least?
[00:52:46] For the least?
[00:52:47] The least till next week.
[00:52:56] Last time on...
[00:52:57] Rage or Dare.
[00:53:00] Brice and Jim, or as I finally like to refer to them, Tweedledum and Tweedledumber, decided
[00:53:05] to go take a double scoop from the Merman's ice creamy bucket of rage where they chose
[00:53:11] Red 2.
[00:53:13] This week, it's Bryce's turn to rageordare.
[00:53:17] And yes, it is most definitely your turn.
[00:53:21] Come on, Bryce.
[00:53:22] Now, let's check in with our button-chopped man-hors and see if Red 2 is as awful as
[00:53:27] Bryce remembers, or was John Malkovich still making good choices in regards to which movies
[00:53:32] he appears in?
[00:53:34] Speaking of man-hors, while it may seem that these days Malkovich will work for anyone
[00:53:37] who's got a loose quarter in the bottom of their pocket, he's been putting out three
[00:53:40] to four projects per year for more than a quarter century.
[00:53:43] The man is prolific, and he has seen a world that no man should see.
[00:53:49] Malcom-
[00:53:50] He was inside John Malkovich.
[00:53:55] He was inside John Malkovich.
[00:53:57] What?
[00:53:58] That's just what it is.
[00:54:02] So what do you think?
[00:54:03] Reg, Reg II.
[00:54:04] Reg II is embarrassing to watch. What? That's just what it is. So what'd you think? Red two.
[00:54:05] Red two is embarrassing to watch.
[00:54:07] It's depressing to see the likes of John Malkovich
[00:54:09] and Helen Mirren reduced to making this mindless
[00:54:12] pablam for the masses.
[00:54:13] Are you Tony Hopkins?
[00:54:14] There is not one joke that lands
[00:54:17] and not one of the countless action sequences
[00:54:19] are memorable in any way.
[00:54:21] This felt like a cannonball run movie
[00:54:23] where the cast is having way more fun
[00:54:25] than the audiences. Mary Louise Parker is unwatchable, but she doesn't hold a candle
[00:54:30] to Catherine's eat of Jones. As in a film full of repulsive performances, she was by
[00:54:35] far the most repulsive. This was not fun or funny or enjoyable on any level. It is hard
[00:54:41] to believe that a film that stars Malkovich and Mirren, as well as Brian Cox,
[00:54:46] Anthony Hopkins and David Thuless, could be this awful. I hated the first read, it was a rage.
[00:54:52] But as bad as it was, this was ten times worse. Red 2 is total garbage, it is a hard rage.
[00:55:00] And I'm not surprised. And I actually enjoyed the first one. But this one, even
[00:55:07] for me, was like really...
[00:55:09] Well, let me tell you what I thought about Red, too. Did you know that this was a comic
[00:55:15] book movie?
[00:55:16] I did.
[00:55:17] I am probably aware of that.
[00:55:18] Okay. And there is a scene at Bryce's work. They do a Costco run.
[00:55:24] They do. Costco run.
[00:55:25] Wait, did John Milkovich die?
[00:55:28] Man, this was action-packed with that old dude, Bruce Willis, kicking ass.
[00:55:36] It was kinda cute cause it seemed so unrealistic.
[00:55:41] No way, John didn't die.
[00:55:43] Oh, thank god.
[00:55:44] What trickery this movie had?
[00:55:47] Those devils, you know, red two devils
[00:55:52] Because you know devils are red. Sure. You know what I'm saying?
[00:55:55] I'm not gonna lie the relationship between Bruce Willis and his girlfriend was annoying pretty much all through the entire movie
[00:56:03] Mm-hmm, but then again, I'm on team Bryce with this.
[00:56:06] I know we haven't been on the same team.
[00:56:08] So annoying.
[00:56:09] I'm just like what?
[00:56:10] But I think Mary Louise Parker has a tendency to be annoying
[00:56:13] every time she's on the screen.
[00:56:16] She's terrible.
[00:56:17] And who knew Origami could kill someone?
[00:56:20] I mean, who?
[00:56:23] I'm just saying we may have a discussion about Mary Louise Parker.
[00:56:26] Well, we can't because I just told you that Catherine Zeta Jones was worse in this movie
[00:56:30] for me. Yeah, but Catherine Zeta Jones isn't on our isn't on our list. You know what?
[00:56:36] But she just got out repulsed. So do you not understand the rules of the list, Jim? I'm
[00:56:43] just saying it has to be somebody you want to put your own it doesn't it has nothing to do with that
[00:56:48] They don't have to be on if they're in a movie with somebody that's not on the list
[00:56:52] That's more repulsive than they are
[00:56:54] They can't stay on the list in this case
[00:56:56] She can't even get on the list because I've already said that Catherine's eat of Jones was more repulsive in this you know
[00:57:03] I disagree with you, the hones.
[00:57:05] But it doesn't matter that you disagree, Jim,
[00:57:08] because those are the rules.
[00:57:10] Damn you and your rules.
[00:57:12] Half the time you don't even follow.
[00:57:13] Rules are made to be broken, that's my philosophy.
[00:57:16] Basically, this feels like a really bad 80s TV show
[00:57:21] that's not remotely believable in any way, but John Malkovich was cute and funny
[00:57:27] No, he wasn't
[00:57:28] So I didn't totally hate it, it was me
[00:57:30] You know what they needed in this one?
[00:57:33] They're lying!
[00:57:34] They needed Morgan Freeman in this one
[00:57:36] No, they did, but they killed him off in the first one
[00:57:38] You know what they needed? They needed Morgan Freeman, John, John, or... what's his name?
[00:57:44] I don't Freeman John John or what's his name? I don't know.
[00:57:45] I don't know.
[00:57:46] I needed the whole crew that Murray likes when they go to Vegas or something.
[00:57:51] No, whatever that thing in Vegas.
[00:57:53] The Ocean's 11?
[00:57:56] No, the old dude's the go to Vegas.
[00:57:58] Oh, Las Vegas.
[00:58:00] Oh, Las Vegas.
[00:58:01] No.
[00:58:02] Oh, Michael Douglas was now one.
[00:58:03] He's married to Captain Zeyas.
[00:58:04] Yeah. They should have been in a dude. They should have been in yes. No. Well, Michael thought this was an out one. He's married Catherine Zeyas. So there we go.
[00:58:05] He should have been out of two.
[00:58:06] He should have been out of two.
[00:58:07] He should have been in him.
[00:58:08] Yes.
[00:58:09] This is funny how much I enjoyed the first one.
[00:58:11] But yeah, this one was pretty bad.
[00:58:12] You know what?
[00:58:13] The worst thing about this other than Catherine Zeyas acting
[00:58:16] in the Middle East part of the world.
[00:58:18] The whole terrible thing.
[00:58:19] No, no, no, it was the up close fight scenes.
[00:58:22] Did you notice that?
[00:58:23] Every single fight scene they show, they literally missed the person by at least a foot.
[00:58:29] Like whoever was doing the shot of the angles, they didn't land one freaking punch. The whole movie. I was just like, what?
[00:58:37] I literally backed it up like two or three times to go. Did they just actually, like this was the worst action movie I've ever seen it was bad it was
[00:58:48] Terrible it was trying it was like try to watch Liam Neeson run it was
[00:58:53] That is also painful
[00:58:56] Yeah, this was not a man it was terrible
[00:58:59] I do kind of like I do kind of like John Melkovich no matter where he is. No, he's terrible in this.
[00:59:05] He's awesome.
[00:59:06] All right, well, it looks like it's your turn,
[00:59:08] my little buckaroonie.
[00:59:11] I don't think so.
[00:59:11] Who are you gonna pull from?
[00:59:12] I'm pretty sure it's your turn.
[00:59:14] Yeah, no.
[00:59:15] You heard your face.
[00:59:16] You said it was your turn.
[00:59:16] I know, but I think I don't understand.
[00:59:18] Casey and Jim are in Kahooch.
[00:59:20] Are you questioning the God of Rage?
[00:59:22] Casey's the God of Rage.
[00:59:23] Well, you were absolutely wrong.
[00:59:24] Who knows? Whatever. So're absolutely wrong. Whatever.
[00:59:25] So get to Poland.
[00:59:26] Okay, well then I'll pull from Casey's bag.
[00:59:28] All right, let's get this bag out here.
[00:59:30] Let's just pull this out.
[00:59:32] Here we go.
[00:59:35] All right, you want to just stick your hand in there?
[00:59:37] Mm-hmm.
[00:59:38] Yeah, oh, that's the one.
[00:59:40] And I have planet of the apes.
[00:59:45] With Charlton Heston?
[00:59:47] Damn you!
[00:59:48] Damn you!
[00:59:49] Oh, true hell.
[00:59:50] It was in the early 2000s.
[00:59:53] You're not meeting the Tim Burton.
[00:59:56] You're not meeting the Tim Burton.
[00:59:58] I think this is a Tim Burton one.
[01:00:00] Wait, is Johnny Depp in this too?
[01:00:02] No, but Helen Bonham isn't.
[01:00:04] Yeah, well she's in everything.
[01:00:06] She's married to him.
[01:00:08] Anyways, I have a feeling this is going to be really good because the Wellberg's in it.
[01:00:12] The Wellberg's in it and the Timoroff is in it.
[01:00:14] Timoroff is in it?
[01:00:16] Yeah, yeah.
[01:00:18] And Michael Clark Duncan is in it.
[01:00:20] Michael Clark Duncan's in it.
[01:00:22] Michael Clark Duncan's worth giving this a mondo over.
[01:00:24] Well Michael Clark Duncan's worth giving this a mondo over. Well, Michael Clark Duncan's usually good.
[01:00:26] Yeah, I'm not going to lie.
[01:00:27] This could be, he could change it from a matuomondo for you.
[01:00:31] I don't remember this.
[01:00:32] I think this is going to be really bad.
[01:00:35] I think I'd rather not watch it.
[01:00:36] I think there were some apes in it.
[01:00:37] You do kind of like eight people in eight makeup.
[01:00:40] I would like to pick again.
[01:00:42] You can't pick again.
[01:00:44] It's too late.
[01:00:44] But I would like to. But. You can't pick again. It's too late, but I would like to but I'm sure you would I
[01:00:47] Would like to put Planet of the Apes back in the bag and then and then a different planet of the apes
[01:00:52] Which you like would you like the second planet of the apes with trout and husted in his place?
[01:00:56] No, then I want the Franco have planet of the you don't get that one. That's the one I want
[01:01:01] But that's not the one you were dared to see something when you're dead
[01:01:03] So whatever suck it up, princess.
[01:01:05] Unless one of our listeners puts the differentco ones in there. Yeah, that's not going to happen.
[01:01:12] You never know. Because they know he likes it. Wow. All right. You know what? You even know
[01:01:18] we disagreed a lot. This was a very fun episode. Not going to lie. And I know that
[01:01:24] Bryce's dog likes me better,
[01:01:26] because he was on my side for the entire episode.
[01:01:28] Whatever, Baxter.
[01:01:30] Tolerates you.
