[00:00:14] Greetings and welcome to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya. And in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. So please make sure that you are following the show at Dreas Point of View on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. You can also follow on XandSpill at Dreapoint. So this episode is based on a lot of things I've been dealing with lately when I talk to
[00:00:42] people about my life, things that I do, places that I've been. I'm a huge concert goer and you know, I'll share that with someone. And I didn't realize that concert envy is a thing. Even on the socials, people are talking about whenever a good concert comes out, someone's talking about the pre-sales. That's a huge deal. What number in line they were, how much they paid to get their ticket, where they prefer to sit. It's a huge deal, apparently, when
[00:01:12] you go to concerts. And I don't remember being like that before. You're going to see such and such. You may talk about where you sat, but the cost wasn't an issue because everything was inexpensive. Now that things are more expensive, everybody wants to flex on how much they spend. To me, a flex is how little you spend, not how much. I don't care about a floor seat. That doesn't interest me at all. I'm all about a good seat. Now, I won't do nosebleeds. I don't like
[00:01:42] my thing. Now, if I do a nosebleed, that's a big if, it's got to be forward facing. Like, I can't sit on the side. It just aggravates me. Even though they have the huge screens now, I don't care for that. Nor do I care to spend a certain amount on a ticket. I don't care who it is. But you tell people that you went to a concert and then they say they've been to,
[00:02:07] they've seen them multiple times. They've seen them here. They paid this much for it. Blah, blah, blah. I didn't realize it was a competition. I'm just telling you who I saw. I saw Mary J. Bly's recently and I was telling this lady about it. And well, we were both there is what it was. We were both at the show and she was telling me about other concerts that she went to and the seats that she had.
[00:02:35] I don't know why she felt the need to tell me that, but I didn't ask. She was telling me about one seat that she had somewhere and it was overseas. And she didn't get a good view because everyone was standing up. They thought that it was like a soccer game. So that kind of ruined it for her. And then she was telling me about seeing something somewhere else too. Like, I don't know.
[00:02:59] Now I can tell you about my concert ventures too, but I won't. But, you know, I just listen to you. Okay. I don't, you know, still trying to figure out why she was telling me. I remember telling another lady that I know about the concert that I went to months prior. It was an old school concert that went on for about four hours and it was so good seeing the people that I grew up with.
[00:03:24] And I was expecting her that we've known each other to say something like, oh, wow, glad you enjoyed. Instead, she paused and then started bringing up the old school concerts that she went to in the past. Most of them I went to as well, but I just listened. Sometimes it's okay to just listen. You don't have to chime in so you can feel like you belong. And it made me think after that conversation, like, wow, this lady, she's that concert envy. She's jealous because I wasn't telling her that I
[00:03:54] had the best seat in the house. I actually had a balcony seat front row, which was just as good for a small intimate venue. I wasn't telling her that I spent X amount of dollars for it. I told her that the tickets were reasonable. I got it the day of. And I really didn't expect her response, but that really is a thing when you talk about concerts to people. It made me go back in time to
[00:04:18] when you were kids and you talked about seeing certain shows. Even then, I don't remember us talking about how much we paid. We just mentioned that we saw such and such. But now, I guess you can't even do that with someone without them envying you about it. They want to one-up you. Talk about when they saw them or not really be happy for you. And that's crazy. Have you ever had this? Because it's a thing.
[00:04:47] It really is. Concert envy. To me, it's the same thing as iPhone. iPhone envy. Which iPhone do you have? They're all crap, to be honest, because they all cost a lot and they all take crap pictures. So there's no flex in having an iPhone. It really isn't. They all cost too much, that's for sure. Unless you want to compare bills. I mean, we all have an expensive bill unless you paid yours off. But yeah. Have you ever had that with someone? Concert envy? How do you handle it? Do you not tell
[00:05:14] anybody that you went to a concert? Do you listen to somebody else? Do you try to one-up somebody? I'd love to know.
