[00:00:00] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. So, make sure that you are following me on the socials. You can follow me at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Threads, and Facebook. You can also follow me at Dreas Point on X and Spill. You can also follow me at bluesky, dreaspointofview.com.

[00:00:30] Dreas Point of View at bluesky.com. So, I wanted to talk to you about spending time alone. I know that just the thought of that scares people. I know so many people that can't do anything alone. I'm the opposite. The older I get, the more I tend to enjoy my own company, especially in work environments where everyone tends to be cliquish like we're still in high school.

[00:01:01] And they don't seem to understand when someone is alone. They think they're being antisocial when it's actually, they're just keeping their peace. So, I came across a couple of posts. Not so much posts. A couple of articles that talked about alone time and why that's important.

[00:01:24] For one, it relieves stress. When we are alone, we don't feel the need to people please. And that can be stressful for some, having that kind of social interaction.

[00:01:46] When you're alone, you can do things like meditation or even yoga. It definitely gives us time to reflect. We don't really have time to process things that are going on when we're around other people. But being alone gives you that opportunity to catch up with how you're feeling and journaling, which I love to do.

[00:02:17] You can count your blessings. Spending time alone helps you think about all the good times in your life and actually can be a great mood booster. There was a study that showed practicing gratitude leads to a more positive outlook on life. You can also increase your mental strength.

[00:02:48] Being able to set with your thoughts, your hopes, and all the other emotions will make you mentally stronger and more prepared to deal with whatever life throws at you. And the biggest thing is that you get to do what you want. I don't have to compromise. There's no meeting someone halfway and having to put up with something that I'm not interested in.

[00:03:19] It gives you the opportunity to do what makes you happy. Even if it's a new hobby or something simple like reading, that's doable. And those things were found on an article of ontalkspace.com. Other times when solitude can be very helpful is it helps you keep positive relationships.

[00:03:51] And it helps you feel good about spending time alone. Another thing it does is it improves your sleep quality. I know I sleep very well. I always have. And it gives you a chance to ignore the screens, the obligations that you have.

[00:04:16] You feel more relaxed overall, have a more wrathful sleep, since sleep quality definitely has an impact on mental health. It increases your creativity. It gives you a chance to think of new ideas like writing or even music.

[00:04:43] Going to a cafe or a library to do something. Or even the beach. That's one of my favorite things to do. And overall, it just being alone, it helps you be more in tune with yourself and others. It can help strengthen a person's relationships in the long run and increase your self-awareness.

[00:05:11] So how do you feel about alone time? Is it for you? I'd love to hear about it at Drea's Point of View at yahoo.com. Also, I do have a free weekly newsletter that comes out. I would love for you to subscribe to it at drea'spointofview.substack.com. I do have a positive news story for you.

[00:05:42] And it was right in front of me, so bear with me. It actually is right here. I had it. Bear with me. Okay. This is something. It comes from Arnold Schwarzenegger. He actually donated $250,000 to build 25 tiny homes for homeless vets.

[00:06:10] That was around Christmas time. He celebrated with the vets, who now have a safe space, heat, air conditioning, and electricity, which is the greatest Christmas gift. He worked with Village for Vets and Vets and the Department of Veterans Affairs to bring that project to life.

[00:06:37] When we all work together, we can solve any problem. I'd love for you to leave a review at thedreahspointofview.com, as well as catch up on my previous episodes. As always, I thank you for listening. This has been Drea's Point of View.
