[00:00:16] Greetings and thanks so much for tuning in to Drea’s Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya. And in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. So please make sure that you are following along at Drea’s Point of View on IG, Facebook and Threads. You can also follow at DreyaPoint on X.

[00:00:39] So today I will be dedicating the show to a review like I do every Friday, where I talk about my experience at an event, could be a movie or TV show or restaurant.

[00:01:00] And today I wanted to talk about a TV show, a new TV show that just started September 1st. It premiered on Paramount and it was talked about for months. Actually, I knew about it last year from Martin Lawrence when I saw him do stand up.

[00:01:27] And he talked about, so of course, if Martin is involved, I'm going to watch. So, two episodes premiered and I'm so glad because that first episode, it's always the first episodes that are like, there's so much rotting on it, especially since it's so anticipated. You can't really get a vibe.

[00:01:56] Well, you can, but I'm just glad there were two. Okay, so, Vern Hill is played by Tommy Davidson. A well-known comedian, was in Living Color. He's also a singer, but he's known for his acting, stand up.

[00:02:17] And he was a guest on the Martin Show, if you watched back in the day, who has his own talk show on TV. So, it really, without, it's based around a talk show. Okay?

[00:02:37] So, you have so many, too many, I think, stars on there, too many actors on there. And I don't know, from my experience, a show with too many people in it can be a mess. You know, you've seen so many movies and it's got, okay, why are all these people in it?

[00:03:03] You can't really crank out quality when there's too much quantity, from my point of view. You have Kim Whitley. You have Wendy Raquel Robinson. You have some people who were on Martin's show. I can't, I don't remember their names. And even Martin Lawrence makes an appearance, which is who I'm watching for. And Tommy, of course.

[00:03:33] And in my opinion, Wendy Raquel Robinson is the star of it. I don't know if it's the, it could be her acting. To me, it's just, she's an excellent actress in everything she's been in. And I don't, honestly, she's one of the main reasons why I will continue to watch. Because the first episode, the first half, has the lab tracks in it.

[00:04:02] And, which I didn't enjoy. I think if they cut that out and maybe recorded it live in front of a studio audience, that would help it out. But a lot of the acting wasn't good. And you can only do so much with poor writing, right? But I think she knocked it out of the park in her scenes. Kim Whitley comes in second. She, I always enjoy seeing her.

[00:04:32] There was a lot going on in the first, there was a lot going on in the first episode. But I think the second half, when it got to his actual talk show, when he had celebrity guests, that helped out a lot. And he, his guests were also, I think his guests were, well, obviously they were celebrities. His guest was Kirk Franklin.

[00:05:00] And they showed a little of his performance, which was amazing. That helped it out. And then it went into the second episode, which got a little bit better. Martin Lawrence made an appearance in the first, towards the end. It was good then. But it was just too many people, I think. I think there's way too many, way too much talent in that show. You cut out a few people.

[00:05:32] And that laugh track, I think that would help. So, I don't want to really get into it, but that's really the gist of what happened. There were so many moving parts. But I think you'll enjoy it. So, you may want to check it out. It comes on Tuesday nights, I believe. But if you, you know, you're a streamer, you can watch it at any time. But if you want to watch it when it first airs, that's when it does.

[00:06:02] I can't tell you the time, because I watched it on Wednesday. So, let me know if you've seen it and your thoughts. If you would continue to watch, ddreuspointerview.com.
