[00:00:15] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. [00:00:41] So, I came across an article on exonicole.com called 40 Ways to End the Year, Strong and Inspired, kind of like resolutions for the new year. Now, I'm not really a big fan on resolutions because I don't keep them. I did get a suggestion to knock them out quarterly, but it's still, for some reason, it's just hard for me to stick with them.

[00:01:08] But this article gave me a lot of ideas that if you start before the year, you know, as you're reflecting the last week, you can get some ideas on what to do. And I think I could stick to some of these.

[00:01:26] The first thing on the list was to increase your retirement or savings. Now, I've been doing that. I usually increase by 1%. Every year, experts say that you could be leaving money on the table if you do not.

[00:01:42] The next thing is to set up automatic drafts or payments for at least one bill. I do it for most of my bills, so I'm not too concerned. But I know my homeowner's insurance is definitely there. So, I don't even... My job actually takes care of that.

[00:02:01] So, it's nice not to have to worry about, okay, which bill I got to pay. It's already paid. But I know some people, if you're old school and like to go in a place and pay your bill, you know, you can do that.

[00:02:14] You know where your money is going. It's easier. But you get your emails. You know this will be taken out. I don't know. It just helps to at least... It's more adult-like to me to make sure that your stuff is on automatic draft.

[00:02:27] Speaking of insurance, look over your policies and try and get a better rate before they expire. Your insurance rates can affect your mortgage payments. I remember when I worked for a mortgage company, so many angry people called in, why didn't this go up? Why didn't that go up? Well, did you know your homeowner's insurance went up? They had no clue. So, definitely look into that.

[00:02:53] The next one is one that I know we can all relate to, and this involves canceling two to five subscriptions. We all have subscriptions. If you get rid of your cable, you've got so many.

[00:03:05] You've got HBO. You've got your Showtime, possibly. You have your Paramount Plus and Peacock and Amazon Prime. There's so many things. It says to cancel at least two to five of those.

[00:03:23] And that may... I thought about it. I'm like, I could probably cancel one or two. I mean, I already don't have Netflix. I canceled that back during COVID. But yeah. So, especially if you have magazines, those of you that still like to get those magazines, you could cut down on those, especially since everything is pretty much digital.

[00:03:45] Take a chance on someone other than Mr. or Ms. Right. Most of us have a type. Whether it be tall, dark, and handsome, or he has to make six figures and own a home, or, you know, for the men, she has to be this complexion, and she must have this and that. It's curvy.

[00:04:03] Step outside of your comfort zone. Date someone who is not your type. Keep your options open. Now, I would never suggest dating someone you weren't attracted to, but expand your horizons. You never know about that one person that you friend-zoned.

[00:04:20] I think many of us limit ourselves holding out for that perfect package that we may never get.

[00:04:28] The next one on the list is, now I've gone back and forth with this one, and that's investing in the paid version of the dating app.

[00:04:36] I'm not on them as much as I used to be, but years ago, I would only stay on the free version.

[00:04:42] A few times, I would pay. That's when they ran a special. But I just didn't want to pay for someone, and I still don't.

[00:04:50] They say that those who pay tend to be more serious about finding a mate.

[00:04:54] So if I do decide to get back on them, I'll keep that in mind. I'll give it a try, at least for one of them.

[00:04:59] It's kind of like when you pay for matchmaking services, and those are expensive.

[00:05:05] I just, I don't know. Certain things, I know if you want a different result, you have to do something different,

[00:05:10] but just the thought of paying to meet someone, I can't really get on board with.

[00:05:15] Invest in a well-made suit.

[00:05:17] Now, I am a sucker for a good suit, especially if it fits well.

[00:05:21] So a tailored look always wins.

[00:05:25] Doesn't matter if it's vintage, three-piece, but it really says a lot about a person,

[00:05:30] especially when they're not going to work.

[00:05:32] I know in Europe, everyone's dressed up over there going places, and it looks amazing.

[00:05:36] Even if you just wear a blazer, I think it says a lot.

[00:05:39] Now, my mom used to wear a blazer a lot of places that she would go, and would get treated quite well.

[00:05:46] You never know.

[00:05:47] You never know who you might meet.

[00:05:49] It's always just nice to stand out, especially if you like to fly.

[00:05:55] No one really gets dressed up there anymore.

[00:05:57] I know you're going for comfort, but sometimes it's just nice to see something other than the stuff that I see now.

[00:06:08] In the self-care department, it suggested to schedule three months of massages.

[00:06:12] Now, I belong to a spa, so that might not be a bad idea.

[00:06:17] I mean, if I knew my schedule in advance, because it does change.

[00:06:22] Many spas do offer a discount for multiple bookings.

[00:06:25] Pick one luxury makeup brand and stick with that.

[00:06:31] Often, we like to follow trends, get something by a celebrity, but I think consistency is key in skincare.

[00:06:37] Especially if you have sensitive skin, and the older you get, ladies, you kind of want consistency, I would think.

[00:06:44] Sign up for a new fitness class or sport just for fun.

[00:06:51] There are a few that are on my radar, and I still keep talking about getting back into aerial.

[00:06:59] I mean, I haven't done it in a year now, so I can't, I don't know.

[00:07:02] Some things are like out of sight, out of mind.

[00:07:04] So, I don't know if I'll get back into that, but I definitely do.

[00:07:08] I would like to join a few classes.

[00:07:12] I don't know.

[00:07:13] I'm kind of thinking about maybe one of those line dancing classes.

[00:07:18] Who knows?

[00:07:21] Are there any classes that you're thinking of getting into?

[00:07:24] I would love to hear about it at Drea's Point of View at yahoo.com.
