Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate.

[00:00:29] And thank you for giving me the gift of your time today. No, I didn't record this episode last night or this morning. I actually recorded it last week, but since Christmas falls on, or my episode happens to fall on Christmas, I didn't want to, what is it? Reuse another previous episode. I don't know. I think that's kind of lazy.

[00:00:57] Unless you just don't have a lot of time. And your episodes come out often. I mean, my episodes do come out three times a week, but being that I batch record, I just don't see a reason to redo a previous episode. So I thought I would give you the gift of a new episode. And I normally have an episode with my favorite Christmas songs, right?

[00:01:27] But I'm like, you know what, let me switch it up this year. Why don't I talk about my favorite Christmas movies?

[00:01:36] When I was a kid, I loved the Christmas movies, the Christmas cartoon movies, especially. And every year, of course, there are plenty of new ones. So I thought I would compile a list of 10 of my favorite Christmas movies.

[00:01:53] And hopefully, some of these are on your list as well. I know a lot of them are very popular. So I'm sure they are. But you can let me know at my website, not my website. Let me know via email.

[00:02:05] Drea's Point of View at Yahoo.com if we have similar tastes.

[00:02:10] So in no particular order. Here is my list. The first movie on my list is Charlie Brown Christmas. I think that's on most people's list. Everyone knows who Charlie Brown is.

[00:02:21] It had a cartoon slash movie. Comes out every year. It started in 1965. You know, Charles Schultz, creator.

[00:02:35] and it talks about him being depressed during the holidays like many of us are

[00:02:40] and Lucy suggests that he directs his Christmas play and he has this tree and friends tease him

[00:02:48] over because it looks so small and pathetic and you see that in some shows and in some places

[00:02:57] it's like that looks like a Charlie Brown tree a tree that has no effort given to it and I remember

[00:03:04] as a kid having that album that I would listen to I wish I still had it but yeah there was a record of

[00:03:14] the play or the show so I thought that was pretty cute that way I could listen to it year-round if

[00:03:23] I want but yeah that's definitely I don't know that might be number one on my list that's the

[00:03:29] first one that came to mind for sure the next one is Rudolph of course Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

[00:03:37] that one I haven't seen in a while that came out in 1964 it happened to be the longest running

[00:03:43] Christmas special in the U.S. and in 2014 there were even posted stamps of Rudolph we all know the story

[00:03:52] that's the most popular in the U.S. that's the most popular in the U.S. that's the most popular

[00:03:53] song that I've ever seen in the U.S. that song and I've ever seen the most popular songs

[00:03:56] in the U.S. that song that song had a very shiny nose and if you ever saw him but yeah that's definitely

[00:04:03] on my list as a classic another one of my favorites came out in 1990 that is Home Alone that one never gets

[00:04:13] old with me I could watch that throughout the year that's the story of Kevin McAllister portrayed by

[00:04:19] Macaulay Culkin he was left alone at home Christmas unintentionally came from a big family and then there

[00:04:26] was the other Home Alone Lost in New York and that didn't have the same zest to it nothing like the

[00:04:33] original so yeah that definitely has to be on my list another one that is on my list came out in 1989

[00:04:43] from John Hughes that's the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Chevy Chase

[00:04:52] was the lead at that Beverly D'Angelo hilarious movie I'm sure you've seen it if not you've got to

[00:05:00] check it out he's decorating over decorating and uh with the tree burning it's it's just

[00:05:10] hilarious to me so definitely check it out if you have not already the next one is How the Grinch

[00:05:19] Stole Christmas came out in 1966 and people still are talking about the Grinch and what I've noticed

[00:05:24] is the past few years more people are talking about the Grinch more Grinch items are coming out

[00:05:31] I even have a few Grinch items I actually saw a Grinch tree recently it looks hideous though it didn't

[00:05:37] even look like the $20 that is worth to get it but yeah they've got so many Grinch items now

[00:05:44] that it's not even funny pajamas stuff for adults not just kids so if you wanted to join in you could

[00:05:51] there's plenty of merch you can buy everywhere on Amazon Target Walmart Ross even it's just fun

[00:06:01] and they even have the anime well the animated version is now streaming on Peacock

[00:06:08] Network and of course there's another Grinch movie that came out in 2000 with Jim Carrey that one was

[00:06:15] okay and then there's the Grinch that came out in 2018 which is also on Peacock but there's nothing

[00:06:22] like the original so yeah that's definitely on my list another Christmas classic is this Christmas

[00:06:36] came out in 2007 that was with Regina King Chris Brown Idris Alba and many other celebrities it's where

[00:06:45] the siblings they come home for Christmas and then a lot of drama ensues but eventually of course they

[00:06:51] join together as a family in the end like every good Christmas movie but it's got some good Christmas

[00:06:58] tracks to it so yeah definitely one on my list another one has one of the best soundtracks in my opinion

[00:07:12] and that is A Preacher's Wife that came out in 1996 with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington

[00:07:20] it's a remake of The Bishop's Wife from 1946 which I didn't see and I recently learned that Julia Roberts

[00:07:27] was up for Whitney's part I definitely couldn't see her playing it I think Whitney and Denzel were perfect

[00:07:35] but yeah one of the best soundtracks I liked it into all year The Preacher's Wife the next movie

[00:07:44] is Frosty the snowman that came out in 1969 now that one I haven't seen in a while it started on CBS

[00:07:54] and it aired there until 2023 and then apparently NBA uh NBA NBC got the rights and then they started

[00:08:05] airing it but yeah that's a cute cartoon movie as well and then there is The Christmas Carol which came out

[00:08:15] in 1949 everyone knows story about Ebenezer Scrooge and talks about the ghosts of Christmas past present and

[00:08:24] future it actually went over to a lot of Christmas uh if you watch a couple of shows maybe and I can't

[00:08:34] even think of any uphand 90s and 2000s a lot of old shows would have someone having a dream and have the

[00:08:39] ghosts visit them so everything is a lot of those shows are based off of that Ebenezer I think Roseanne

[00:08:47] had an episode I want to say that Jefferson's had an episode I think the Parkers don't quote me so many

[00:08:54] shows but yeah The Christmas Carol that was one that I adored and the last one because I couldn't think of

[00:09:04] anything else was Black Nativity that came out in 2013 it's hard to believe it's been that long too

[00:09:10] but that one starred Tyrese Forrest Whitaker Mary J Blige and Jennifer Hudson that had a good soundtrack

[00:09:18] as well uh one of my favorites well a couple of my favorites are from Jennifer Hudson so that one I think

[00:09:27] you could find on BET so definitely check that one out that's a bit of a

[00:09:35] complicated plot but it's still good this kid goes home to it's a musical drama uh this kid he

[00:09:43] spends the holidays with his grandparents because I guess he and his mom were evicted and then eventually

[00:09:51] he got reunited with his parents so yeah that tops off my list I said I would love to hear some of yours
