[00:00:43] So, I wanted to talk about an icon, a legend, a great experience that I had recently, seeing one of our comedic icons that most of us grew up with on TV and film, as well as stand-up.

[00:01:17] And that person is the one and only Martin Lawrence. I'm a really big comedy show fan. And I've seen most of the greats that I wanted to see. He's one of the few who I have yet to see. And I'm glad I got a chance to see him on his tour.

[00:01:43] I've been seeing a lot of people making a comeback this year, and I love to hear it. I love to see it. And there were a lot of rumors going around with him, especially when Bad Boys 4 came out about how he doesn't look the same, he doesn't move the same, he talks different, he had a stroke.

[00:02:04] And I don't know, it just bothers me when people like to speak on people's health conditions, making speculations, casting aspersions.

[00:02:16] Now, granted, he put on a little weight, and he just looks a little older to me. I mean, age happens.

[00:02:26] If you're, when you get older, if you're blessed enough to get older, you're not going to look the same you did before. You're not going to move the same. You're not going to talk the same.

[00:02:34] So I didn't really think much of it. I wanted to see for myself, really. But I was pleasantly surprised that he is still the Martin of old.

[00:02:51] Now, I don't know about many of you, but I don't move the same. Oh, I do. But from 20, 30 years ago, there may be some differences with most of us, right? We're not going to be a spry. We're not going to really talk the same. If you're blessed, you'll still look the same. But there are going to be some differences.

[00:03:14] Father time is eventually going to catch up with you. And that's okay. People always associate being old to something negative. And it's really a blessing. I know a lot of people who didn't make it to be old.

[00:03:32] So when I saw Martin in Los Angeles on his tour, it was nice to see that he definitely still has it. He actually dispelled that rumor. One of the first things that he said that he didn't deny, but he didn't admit that he had a stroke. He was like, do I look like somebody has a stroke? Then he's running around the stage, throwing his legs up. He looked fine.

[00:03:59] He's active. He's active. You could tell that much. And he talks just a little bit slower, but what is he in his 60s now? And when we all knew him back on Martin, what was he in his 30s maybe?

[00:04:13] So people expect the same you when they used to see you somewhere. They expect you not to change. That's not going to happen. There is going to be some change.

[00:04:26] And he wasn't sitting down. He was walking around the whole time of his performance.

[00:04:32] You know, he grabbed water as expected, and a towel because it gets hot on stage under lights. He didn't give me any doubt that something was wrong with him.

[00:04:45] He still has his sense of humor. He was shown much love from the audience. He appreciated it. He received it. And he was great. He talked about his beginnings, how he started before comedy, how he was on Star Search and didn't win.

[00:05:07] Then he talked about, and I try to remember because I remember Star Search, but I forgot that. I forgot about Martin. I forgot any of the comedians, honestly. I forgot about it. I remember the singers.

[00:05:19] But he went into some of his characters for his favorite characters from when he was on Martin, and his favorites were Shanene and Jerome and Otis.

[00:05:38] And he ended it. His last part, he talked about sex. But yes, he still looked the same for the most part, you know, with a little age, a little bit, a little bit.

[00:05:54] But yeah, Martin is fine. Yeah, there's no cause to worry. All this talk about, I mean, it's just, you know, how we are our own worst enemies sometimes talking about people's health.

[00:06:10] But no, he definitely is still our icon. And his tour is going on until the spring of next year. So if you haven't seen him already, it's definitely worth a trip for you to check him out.

[00:06:25] He had a few people opening for him. He had Miss Pat, who has a Miss Pat show. I didn't realize that she was married for 30, 31 years.

[00:06:38] And then there were other two comedians I wasn't familiar with. But yes, it definitely was. It was nice. It was very nice because you felt the love in the room. He definitely felt the love in the room.

[00:06:56] And yeah, he's not going anywhere anytime soon. So let's stop with the commenting on people who are aging, which is crazy to me. We love to do that, especially with women.

[00:07:14] Oh, well, so-and-so, she still looks good for her age. Or this person, something's wrong with them because they gained weight or because they lost weight or because they're talking slower.

[00:07:25] I don't expect them to talk as fast and do the same things they did back in the day. I don't know. I don't expect that.

[00:07:33] So, yes, Martin Lawrence, the living legend, is still that OG, that living legend, that funny guy that we all grew to know and love.

[00:07:52] And it was a great pre-Christmas gift to myself because I was like, let me go check him out. I love a good comedy show. And it was well worth it. He was on for what? I think he started at 9.30 and did close to 10.30.

[00:08:18] So, it was a great show. And like him, my heart was full. If you've seen Martin or intend to see him on his tour, let me know at Drea's Point of View at yahoo.com. And please leave a review and catch up to my old episodes at thedreahspointofview.com.
