[00:00:14] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya. In the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. I would like to invite you to follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Threads, and Facebook. You can also follow me at Dreapoint on X and Spill.

[00:00:39] So how do you like to start your mornings? I'm not a big fan of mornings myself, but I definitely like to start them off on a quiet note. I came across an article from Chiara Wilkinson called Start Your Day on a Strawberry, 15 Microhabits for Calmer, Healthier Mornings, and I would like to share a few of those with you.

[00:01:05] One thing that I suggested to do is to reframe your day as an adventure. If you have a big task to do, try and do something differently. You can pick a different way to go to work. Or if you are a walker, walk a different way that day. Try to enjoy whatever task that you have to complete.

[00:01:37] See the sunlight as soon as you can. Now, it's suggested to have a 15-minute daylight walk, which helps your circadian rhythm. It also affects your sleep quality, bowel movements, and your hormones.

[00:01:55] Now, how am I in the mornings? I don't mind looking at sunlight. I don't mind waking up to that. But the going for the walk part, that's what I need to work on, especially in the mornings. I don't care to do that. It's cold in the mornings.

[00:02:12] Doing a micro workout can help you wake up. And I think I may try this. Doing squats or jumping jacks can help get your circulation going. One minute of movement can help increase alertness.

[00:02:25] Now, I wake up early whether I want to or not. I don't know what it is, which is crazy because I go to bed late. But waking up and getting up are two different things.

[00:02:33] But on the off day that I do have to get up, I think I may try this. If you're living with someone, you can schedule five more minutes in bed.

[00:02:42] Instead, you can use this time to cuddle or to talk. It helps to create an intentional moment. Get a colder shower. Not a fan of this one because I'm all about my hot showers. Long ones too, especially in the wintertime.

[00:03:00] Even if the water is lukewarm, I don't like it. But it's suggested to end the morning wash with two minutes of cold water. So I guess I can enjoy my hot showers and then when I'm about to come out, make it cold. I don't know. I may try it. I know I won't like it.

[00:03:22] Another thing mentioned in the article was to make your first drink of the day uncaffeinated. Everyone wants to reach for that coffee. I'm glad I'm not a coffee drinker.

[00:03:30] It's suggested to start your day with water so you wake up feeling more hydrated. Now, I definitely do that with the water.

[00:03:41] What are some of your micro habits in the morning? You can let me know at Drea's point of view at yahoo.com.

[00:03:48] My positive news story of the day comes from a Racks to Riches CEO. Jerika Hoskins came out of foster care and used to live in homeless shelters.

[00:04:01] She wanted better for her kids and introduced her idea to the public.

[00:04:05] Within two years, she became the CEO of Arconi Coley Care or Arconi Coil Care.

[00:04:13] Hoskins, a mother of six, hired single mothers and those out of foster care as her staff.

[00:04:21] Pretty, pretty cool. I love hearing Racks to Riches stories.

[00:04:27] I would like to invite you to share this episode with someone.
