[00:00:16] to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreas. In the next 10 minutes

[00:00:22] or less, I will be giving you my perspective on a topic that I am passionate about. I'd

[00:00:28] like to invite you to follow the show on IG, Pinterest, Threads, and Facebook. You can

[00:00:35] also follow at Dreapoint on X and Spill. We do things to keep our bodies healthy and certain

[00:00:45] things to keep our heart healthy. But how do we keep our brain healthy? That's really a

[00:00:53] thing. I came across a post from Dinner Spirit that listed 12 things to do to keep your brain

[00:01:01] healthy and I thought I would discuss 10 of them. The first thing you can do is to stimulate

[00:01:12] your brain. I see many people doing this on the daily by posting games on their phones or

[00:01:22] playing games on their phones and doing puzzles. You can switch your routine. I've never been

[00:01:33] one for routines myself, but mainly for safety reasons. At work, my schedule varies so you

[00:01:41] don't know when I'll be home. If you change your habits, it will switch your brain from autopilot.

[00:01:49] The third thing is to exercise. If you're consistent, it will keep your brain fit.

[00:01:56] Being social helps keep your brain healthy. It will trigger brain processes. Eating a proper diet

[00:02:04] consists of fruits and vegetables. Managing stress by relaxing keeps your brain healthy.

[00:02:18] Monitoring your sleeping habits to six to eight hours a night. Brains need that to recharge.

[00:02:25] I know I could do about six, maybe five, but it's definitely hard for me to get that eight in.

[00:02:32] Avoiding substances that help with your brain's health. That means no drinking or smoking. I fall short

[00:02:40] on that one because I love to have a drink every now and then. Learning is a way to keep your brain

[00:02:48] healthy. It keeps your brain young, even if it's something like learning a new language or skill.

[00:02:58] Another thing you could do that keeps your brain healthy is to take a digital detox. Keeping away from

[00:03:05] the computer or phone overwhelms the brain. And as of late, it's not hard to keep away from

[00:03:15] the phone. It seems like a lot of negativity is being posted. If you can think of other ways to keep your

[00:03:23] brain healthy, I would love to hear about them at drea's point of view at yahoo.com.

[00:03:29] My positive news story of the day comes from Illinois. Three entrepreneurs made history with

[00:03:36] the first black owned bread company in the U.S. One of the founders, Mark Edmond, thought of the idea

[00:03:42] after the death of George Floyd. He and his friends, Charles Alexander and Janelle Lewis, is to promote

[00:03:49] black ownership in an underrepresented sector. You can gain more information by going to blackbreadco.com

[00:03:57] or following them on IG at the black bread co. How cool is that to say that you invented bread with

[00:04:05] your friends? I'd like to invite you to subscribe to the show, share and leave a review at thedrea's

[00:04:14] point of view.com. I could also use some followers for my free newsletter at drea's point of view.substack.com.

[00:04:23] As always, I thank you for listening. This has been Drea's point of view.
