[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The PodBread Network is strictly for the small podcasts that are up and coming in the

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: vast world of podcasting.

[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_01]: PodBread is made up of many diverse podcasts.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming together to achieve the same goal of being the best damn podcast network on the

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: planet.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Find out more at podbread.com.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you know that with all the earthquakes that California has, it's not even in one

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: of the top 10 countries where quakes often occur?

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: With the recent earthquakes in California, I felt that it was necessary to review an app

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: that is not only helpful to those of us who live in the state but others who have experienced

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: a quake or two.

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Dreas Point of View.

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I am your host, Andrea.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: For the next 10 minutes or less, I would like to talk to you about a topic that

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel passionate about.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to invite you to follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and threads.

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You can also follow at adreapoint on X and Spill.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So I came across an app that notifies you of an earthquake before it happens.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: The My Shake app was developed by the University of California Berkeley over four years ago.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, I haven't had to use it since I found it, but the review said that it's pretty effective

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and better than another earthquake app.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Some of the features include being able to get notifications of earthquakes of at least

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: 2.5 magnitude, getting warning alerts in six languages in a woman's voice.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: So guys, you've got to be okay with that.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: It gives safety tips on how to prepare.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: You can also see a map of earthquakes around the world and share your experience.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, according to some of the reviews, some users said that they were notified shortly

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_00]: before it was announced on the news.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It gave them time to prepare.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, it won't be an hour or 30 minutes, but even a few seconds makes a difference.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: If you know, I want to know whatever is coming my way whenever I can.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So if it's 10 or 15 seconds, you'll know to drop where you are, cover yourself.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They also could see the seismograph of past earthquakes to see the pattern.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: California and Alaska are on a fault line, so naturally they have the most

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: earthquakes in the U.S., but small earthquakes happened all over the country.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the states that are overdue for quakes according to worldpopulationreview.com

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: are Arkansas and Missouri because they're also on a fault line.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: This app can be downloaded on your iPhone, your iPad, and your Android, which would make

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: sense. I can't imagine only iPhone users or only Droid users are able to access this.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: If you've ever used this app or intended to download it, I would love to hear about it

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: at draisfointviewatyahoo.com.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: My positive news story for the day comes from Virginia.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: 15-year-old He-Man Bekele is Time Magazine's 2024 Kid of the Year for inventing a soap that

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: can prevent skin cancer. Now, obviously, someone who can invent a soap that can prevent skin cancer

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: is phenomenal, but I didn't even know that Time Magazine honored kids, so that's new to me.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty amazing, too. He is hoping to get his soap patented and FDA certified.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people have this mindset that everything's been done. There's nothing left for me to do,

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Bekele says. To anybody having that thought, I'd say we'll never run out of ideas in this

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: world of skin cancer. Just keep inventing. Keep thinking of new ways to improve our world

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and keep making it a better place. Who knows that, man? I know whoever raised him is proud.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I would love if you would subscribe to my free weekly newsletter at draisfointviewatyahoo.com
