[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Hot water. It has many benefits that I wasn't even aware of.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I just thought I would do an episode about it because I've seen some people just drink hot water.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thinking, okay, maybe it's just because they're cold because I have to have something in my hot water like a tea bag.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But my curiosity got the best of me and I asked someone and he went historical with it about, you know,

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the Asian culture and it made me curious enough to get more information for you.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought I would pass that along today.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, Andrea's Point of View. I am Andrea, the one and only hostess of this short form podcast.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And my objective is to give you something that I feel passionate about in 10 minutes or less.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I invite you to follow the show, Andrea's Point of View on IG, Facebook, threads and Clubhouse.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You can also follow me, Andrea Point on X and Spill.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So according to Indian culture and Chinese, starting the day off with a glass of hot water will help with your digestive system.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not the hotter, the better. You know, you keep it at a tolerable degree, Fahrenheit.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But there are very good benefits to this as well as drinking lemon water.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Now when I was sick earlier this year, I, it was suggested that I drink hot water with lemon juice and honey.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not a bad combination because it has something in it.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think I may have to force myself to drink some hot water and I have been actually, I have been, because I wanted to do that before I got this episode out to you.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So, and it's, you know, it's, it's helped. I haven't done it regularly, but whenever I drink tea, I tend to do it.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know, it's recommended that you drink water when you wake up and when you go to bed, I do that.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But I learned that it's suggested that you drink hot water.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's been challenging for me. The mornings I could do that concoction that I told you about at night.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: That's been more challenging for me to drink something hot.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows though maybe when winter rolls around I'll be able to do that.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: But according to healthline.com, it listed quite a few benefits to drinking hot water.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And I will give you some right now. The first one, well, obviously it keeps you hydrated and healthy whether you drink hot or cold.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But the first note was that it release nasal congestion.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Hot water creates steam, of course. And if you inhale it and get that vapor, it may help you get rid of that sinus headache.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: According to 2008 study, tea or a hot drink gave lasting relief from a runny nose, sore throat and tiredness.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: The next item is that it improves the central nervous system.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Not getting enough water. It can have negative effects on your nervous system.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: There was another study done in 2019, I believe that shows that drinking water can improve your mood.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: It boosted participants brain activity during activities and also reduce their anxiety.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Hot water may help with constipation. Because we all know dehydration is a common cause of constipation.

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's an effective way to relieve it. It softens the stool.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And it helps keep your bowel movements regular.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's something that we all may want to do because of that.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned already that it does keep you hydrated.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It also improves the circulation.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It affects your blood pressure and it helps with cardiovascular disease.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Taking a warm bath helps your organs.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And bathing at nighttime may help you relax.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I know taking a hot shower helps me relax. So that part is true.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't get with the cold showers yet. I can't do that.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It decreases stress levels as well.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It makes you feel more calm.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the risks of drinking hot water, as long as it's not too hot.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But if it is, it may damage your taste buds.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And of course, scald your tongue.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: There was another article I believe it's, and it pronounces,

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Nana Waty Max Hospital.org.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It listed other benefits to drinking hot water.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of them is body detox.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It can increase your body temperature, which can promote sweating.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And remove toxins from the body.

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It can help in your weight loss by boosting the body's metabolism.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You may want to make sure that you drink warm water before the meals

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: to help make you full, which can reduce overall food intake,

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: which is very interesting.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It is beneficial to helping reducing pain in your body.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: It increases your blood flow to that effective area.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And we all know soaking in hot water bath can help reduce that pain

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and inflammation of the joints.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: It promotes healthy hair.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It can hydrate your hair and prevent it from being dry and brittle.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It can also improve your dental health, which I'm sure we all want.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It helps soothe your tooth aches, which is very, very good.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And another thing that drinking hot water does, well,

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_01]: like I said, it does say to drink it before you go to sleep.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It can help soothe a sore throat, which is why I drink it

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and prevents bloating, which can also interfere with your sleep.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So if no other time, you definitely want to make sure that you're drinking it

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_01]: before you go to sleep.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Now there are some side effects like everything else.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And that is if it's consumed too much dehydration.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It can give you increased risk of dental erosion if the water is too hot.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So make sure that it's just right.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And you want to, it reduces the absorption of certain nutrients

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_01]: if you eat it too close to meals.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So yes, hot water is the move.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're one of those who drinks hot water, let me know

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_01]: or if you're willing to try it.
