[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been reading a lot of travel posts lately and I got this idea from no specific posts

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_00]: but just reading all of them overall and from my experience of staying in hotels domestically

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and internationally.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And I wanted to do an episode on the comparisons and the differences between the two and which

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: you prefer.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to welcome you to the short form podcast Dreas Point of View.

[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I am your host is Drea and I would love if you'd follow the show at Dreas Point of View

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: on IG, Pinterest, Threads and Facebook and at Drea Point on at Exonsville.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So I, the first thing I wanted to talk about was breakfast.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I am a huge breakfast person and what I noticed was I could not find without googling hotels

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: overseas that offered breakfast.

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The ones that I stayed in you had to pay a charge for breakfast and it's usually a buffet

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: which is fine with me.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I prefer a buffet but there are plenty or at least a handful in the states that offer

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_00]: breakfast.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You've got Drury Inn, there's Hampton Inn and Sweets, there's Embassy Sweets, La Quinta

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Inn if they still do it.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But for the life of me, I do not recall one that included breakfast.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Take that back.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Latin America, Latin America hotels a few do offer a breakfast and these are nice hotels.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So you eat very well, very well at these hotels but European wise I cannot think of a place

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: off hand that does include it.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So I find that interesting.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And the type of breakfast is different too.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you won't really like some of the, you pretty much get everything over here, right?

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You get your hot, your colds and your made to order but there it's, yeah, it's really

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: not the same.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So for breakfast, I tell you, I mean, I would prefer the Latin America hotels.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a while since I've stayed in one but I definitely don't remember having to pay

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and one in particular was one in San Salvador.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's some of everything there and you know that you're going to get full.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing I've noticed was the washcloth issue.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Now that was a post that was going around and still is about how international hotels

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: don't offer washcloths.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I normally bring my own when I go overseas, I know they don't have them so no need for

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_00]: me to complain but I've never not had one in the States.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I just think that's an interesting thing.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'll ask the housekeeping or the whole, maybe I'll look that up or ask someone why

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: don't they carry washcloths over there?

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: How I mean, I know most people, well, we won't have that discussion but that is a

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: noticeable difference in the hotels overseas.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: No washcloths whatsoever.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing I will notice is it's not a problem for me to have a refrigerator in my room

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: in the States.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: A refrigerator and a microwave.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: If it's a microwave, it's not in the room, it's on the floor.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Not so much in Europe.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_00]: If I have a refrigerator, I have to share it with the drinks that are in there and

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_00]: there's usually no microwave.

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I would have to ask the restaurant, which I'm not going to do, to heat up

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: something for me.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder why that is.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I would think if there is a refrigerator, there should be a microwave

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: somewhere nearby, right?

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00]: But no, there isn't.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a noticeable difference.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Something else that I noticed.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Now this isn't written.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm coming off the top of my head, but I just thought it was interesting

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: enough to discuss.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing is they don't really have...

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me see.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say something about the television, but no, they...

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Now it's pretty as far as channels.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of stations overseas as well as they do in the states.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I was trying to think, what else is possibly different?

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I do notice there are more...

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: There are more channels overseas.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Just their attire alone.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Their uniforms are just very...

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, so clean cut and just...

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like they take pride in their uniforms overseas.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Not so much in the states.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_00]: The only person that I see dressed well is the doorman, if there is one.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But other than that, they are just in their plain clothes.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it's so attire-wise I'd have to go with overseas staff.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: As far as housekeeping, that's nothing different there.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Check in and check out is pretty much the same.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I know there was a lot of talk about that on the socials.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: They're saying that they shouldn't be charged a whole day if they can't check in until the day is almost over three or four.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: You got to figure, these housekeepers get so many rooms they have to clean in X amount of time.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't want them rushing my room.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to make sure that everything is clean.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So if I can't check in until three or four, then I'll wait till three or four for a clean room.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But from those things, is there anything else that you could think of that stands out as a difference between domestic hotels versus international?

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to know.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: At Dreas Point of View at yahoo.com do you have any favorite chains?
