[00:00:47] I came across an article recently that talked about getting free stuff. And who doesn't like free stuff, right? No matter how big or small, there's someone who is ready to claim. And during the month of January, there are a few places that you may want to look into to get something for free.

[00:01:13] And I will list a few of those now. It came from an article in moneytalksnews.com. It talks about 13 things that you can get for free. And I will list just a few.

[00:01:26] One of those items that you can get is free national park entry. MLK Jr. Day this year falls on January 20th. You can pay tribute by going to a park from the civil rights leader, MLK Jr.

[00:01:54] You can also take advantage of free pie day. National pie day is January 24th. So a few places should be offering a slice of free pie. Eckerd's in Illinois is having a buy one, get one apple pie deal.

[00:02:14] So make sure that you keep an eye out for the details. Your kid can enjoy kids' crafts at Lowe's. There are construction-based craft workshops that are being offered free of charge January 18th. But you have to register in advance. And I believe registration closes on January 17th. So you may want to look into that.

[00:02:42] If you are really big on fitness, like most people are, you can take advantage of three free days at 24-hour fitness. That's an ongoing thing across the country. So you can invest in those three days before you invest in a membership. If you are a Dunkin' Donuts fan, they have a reward program. You can rack up points and redeem free food and drinks.

[00:03:10] Aside from that National Pie Day, there's also National Bagel Day on January 15th. Places like Einstein Brothers had deals last year. January 19th, I believe it is, there's National Popcorn Day. I keep seeing commercials from that. You can go to certain theaters and they will give you that popcorn. And you can even bring something to fill that in too, which I think is kind of cool. And January 30th is National Croissant Day.

[00:03:40] Some places like Paris Baguette had deals last year. If you know of any more, I would love to hear from you. And if you plan to take advantage of that, I'd love to hear as well. Adria's Point of View at yahoo.com. I do have a positive news story for you.

[00:04:03] And that is coming from a town in Germany called, I'm not sure how to pronounce it, Fuggeri. It's where the rent has not changed since 1520. Yes, 1520, not 1920. Residents pay just 88 cents a year to live in this place.

[00:04:30] And that makes it the world's oldest social housing complex. Despite the low rent, residents have to follow a few rules, of course. Includes daily prayers for the Fugger family and keeping up their homes. This extraordinary town, it stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of social welfare and community support.

[00:05:00] It happens to attract visitors from around the world. So imagine only having to pay 88 cents to live there for an entire year. I would love to know more about this place myself. And I'm not really even a Germany fan. And the place is spelled F-U-G-G-E-R-E-I. I'd love if you would subscribe to my free weekly newsletter at dreahspointofview.substack.com
