[00:00:06] It's a Jacked Up Review Show Welcome to the show. Oh, I'd like to be here. So, here is an actress who has been activist, been even considered trying politics in like Arizona, I believe at one point. Just interesting to me to figure. Yeah.

[00:01:15] So what was your introduction to this job? It was actually the film that Lea make her known, which was Kiss the Girls. There you go.

[00:01:32] So you started into the loop and by yeah, the 90s she was pretty much that kind of powerhouse where she was in some kind of mystery adventure movie playing either a victim or a tough gal. And it's an interesting thing to see.

[00:01:47] It's easy to mix them up too because much like all the other movie stars that were out there, you know, run away from explosions, you know, she's running away from killers. That's true.

[00:02:00] But I made her movies interesting, particularly because the girl was like I said, and she had like a very easy presence to her. Very well, audience is like time. Absolutely.

[00:02:17] She pretty much just hit the ground running. I mean, I know here in parts of Arlington and Dallas her mother Naomi still performs country music. So occasionally see an advertisement for them playing in town. So, okay, interesting.

[00:02:39] She had like three sisters, I believe and just grew up in Grenada Hills, California. So I will start off. Yeah, she's got a bunch of Emmy nominations, especially for playing Norma Jean in a movie. I think that had mirrors Serbino.

[00:03:07] And a bunch of other movies including a fright meter award for the Wayne Freakens film bug. Golden Globe for did love plays there you go.

[00:03:18] She's been all kinds of movies and I just always just find her just approach to the craft very interesting because she's always, she can either go for standoffish or victim or even just heroic and you just never know what to expect from her.

[00:03:35] She's very good at just being unpredictable. So first credit was briefly on Star Trek next gen. It was interesting to be in love interest of love, Wesley Crusher and then which I just found out today.

[00:03:54] He didn't recognize me. Yeah, I didn't know I didn't know she was on. Well, it's was fun seeing her in that unusual dress. So yeah she was in the movie cost with Christian Slater just a brief, the part.

[00:04:08] And treat Williams TV movie and I was fortunate enough this year to finally see Rudy in Paradise been a fan of Victor Nunes who had done plenty of other films like Ulys gold and coastlines and she's shown on Turner classic movies on their Friday, you know, night movies.

[00:04:29] And this was interesting just because it's kind of a, I think from this point on this just determines the rest of Judd's career with her whole independent staying focused and here she is playing just basically just not an ex con but basically she's having to deal

[00:04:50] with a bunch of ex cons and drug dealings and just other kind of middle class and blue collar people. And it's just, it's a good, you can find out in showtime right now. As a matter of fact and it's just very cool how they just show how someone has to evolve, just

[00:05:11] she's not an emotional person she keeps having all these other bad influences but she's not affected by it she just basically has to decide how long she will use what she has until she can't put up with it anymore.

[00:05:25] Just a good drama mild crime elements to it. And this film just does a good job of just making just such everyday stuff look interesting without feeling like just random excuse to take up time. And then someone, somebody trying to be.

[00:05:42] It's, it's not an easy thing to do and just the movies will let without looking like simple eye candy and also just does a good job of just showing how in this particular town there's a lot of crappy jobs and everything and she's having to say hey I'm not going to be a stripper

[00:05:58] I'm not going to be a drug dealer. I'm not going to be working this nine to five job for this long.

[00:06:06] And then after that she has a recurring role for free seasons on this soap opera drama called sisters I've always heard of it I knew it was one of C. LaWard first roles but I never saw it, but I think for seasons on DVD.

[00:06:26] I've seen seasons for natural born killers and I haven't seen that delayed seeing I've seen the other one. The thing I found out today was her. Having a delete scene in that one, like interesting. She played. Let me look it up fast. It's natural killers.

[00:06:51] Sorry folks we were going to talk about the stuff we didn't know. Okay, so she played a courtroom witness guy. Okay. Oh, better or worse. There's a lot of scenes that interesting as they are might not have added anything to the movie.

[00:07:24] Anyway, um, yeah she just continues that just stay steady working and then she again just plenty of other just TV and movie roles.

[00:07:37] Seeing smoke that's a very brief role, pretty good drama from Wayne Wang of the Joy Luck Club that has William Hurd Harvey Kytel and just Harold Perl now it's all star giant cast.

[00:07:51] She's just really brief like one scene but every actor does really good in this same year she's in passion and darkly noon which is just a very weird fantasy film by Philip Ridley.

[00:08:04] And then starring people more than sin as a mutant man and Brendan Frazier as a man kind of losing his mind she's kind of the femme fatale but she's interesting and same year as he and what can I say just a good as

[00:08:18] a man who's like, you know leave you. She plays a lot well. Yep. Then falls it up with normal life which seniors ago and it was just kind of another just kind of road movie psychotic breakdown kind of film, not an easy role to play worth checking out.

[00:08:52] Again, I have not seen no Regina Marilyn but I have seen a time to kill from that same year and I think I'll let you lead into that and why that's a cool courtroom for learn.

[00:09:01] What's one that brought up interesting topics but she don't know time about race and particularly the KKK time and it's like I said very interesting drama slash thriller as a hell of a cast.

[00:09:21] And I know my she she plays a football role well as that can become his wife. Yep, even if it's a small role. She still manages to make her own.

[00:09:36] So then again, the parts and then playing either the mom or the heroic gal on the run like because the girls Simon birds and double jeopardy and I the beholder was interesting because that was another serial killer for her but at times she was the serial killer and it's a tough movie to describe I feel like it's more but

[00:09:55] G yellow official one. I've always heard about I never actually got the city. I had seen it once didn't like it. So again, thought was better should see this third time just to make sense of it but it was interesting and crafted European feeling.

[00:10:12] And then yes she plays Natalie Portman's mom where the heart is and then just what my mom was for that movie. And then the whole day. Next year. It's pretty watchful. It's pretty solid.

[00:10:28] Someone like you it's good for chick flick not really my cup of tea but good for what it is. Once again back to mystery bill with her, because the girls costar Morgan Freeman with high crimes.

[00:10:42] Gotta say it's pretty interesting and crafted movie even though it's really not all that hard to figure out. You know, the reasonable doubt. Got a lot courtroom for us. So underneath, then after that. Yeah, she's in

[00:11:03] a divine secrets of the sisterhood and remember my mother actually saw that and thought it was an interestingly acted film.

[00:11:12] So unusual and then brief part in freedom and then back to serial killers again with twisted and then singers do lovely not really not really a big fan of that one.

[00:11:21] Yeah, twisted is great bad shit crazy but yeah, what she does so well and I think all these roles is just all the parts are just so energetic and just very susceptible to playing and on Kenny part in each one.

[00:11:41] I've heard from some people that she'd be difficult to work with and I'm not surprised but at the same time I'm, I guess she just wants to get it right. So if I saw the lovely I don't remember it. It was a whatever kind of period piece.

[00:11:59] Musical is it. Yeah, kind of a musical. It's a musical. And good chemistry with Kevin Klein but I would have to force myself to watch this so I'm not going to get into that. But yeah, then she's in come early morning with your boy Jeffrey Donovan.

[00:12:15] That was an interesting once again kind of like Rudy in Paradise just woman getting yourself back together, putting the past behind accepting life coming of age and it's like that's that's cool.

[00:12:28] And same year as bug. Did you ever see that one when when freaking it's kind of his return to exorcist type mystery or I was an interesting one because that's when that again not trying to be freaky but isn't intelligent watches to get into it.

[00:12:48] Yeah, I once like saw part of it but I didn't really pay any attention to it and it's one of those you're not going to see it on regular TV because you know everyone there's like blood or naked people and every other scene so yeah it's

[00:13:02] But it's intelligent. I can see why it got Michael Shannon a bunch of other roles after this, he's really excellent here.

[00:13:10] I think freaking even said it was this was one of his favorite act kinds of actors to work with. I'm sure they all got along well because essentially, you know, they're all on each other's levels they want to get it right they want to press on forward.

[00:13:28] So after that, then just kind of coast through to some other activist stuff tracks a doc drama.

[00:13:38] Yes and then does another one someone experienced depression called Helen I think I did see part of that one, then has a brief role as really old his wife in crossing over so there you go just back to the wife role and

[00:13:54] I really dug this movie I still think it's one of Harrison Ford's most underrated roles just showing just people in LA having to deal with just again, crossing the border, petty criminals and everything. There's some overacting unfortunately.

[00:14:10] But there's also some good points made, I think, and without being preachy. So then just follows it up with the tooth fairy and what can we say about that.

[00:14:22] I got your internet to be fair. Yeah, I think everyone did. And I think she forgot to so probably good thing. Yeah, stupid kids movies. Everyone has one. And then she's in this heist comedy flight paper and I have to say this is a weird as movie.

[00:14:43] It sounds interesting. So weird cast, but every kind of actors in it. I don't think it's worth the 37 on Metacritic but it's also not easy to place but I had some fun with it.

[00:14:54] It was kind of a weird thing. And realize with Morgan Freeman again, Dolphin tell one in two. Yeah. And all I can say is that movie was watchable. It's not really anything I thought about afterwards it's definitely not free willy. That's true.

[00:15:15] She I saw most of missing. And that was cool to see her kind of do her own taken kind of thing. After all up after 10 episodes, she got some award hype from it and was a second producer.

[00:15:29] And then gets to be part of the Olympus fallen in divergence saga. And then the most part about diverting because she gets to do some gunplay and this is like one of the few actors who'd like brings any credibility to the stupid games knock off.

[00:15:44] And I couldn't know that. That sounds about the only good thing. Yeah, size race Stevenson in part two and Theo James but yeah, this is like, yeah, bucket. And then, you know, it was just a cameo.

[00:15:59] Haven't seen the identical with most got another musical drama and big stone gap, which is a comedy romance in a small town of Virginia. Looks interesting, but not sure when to see it. So again, she's part of the on some it's what she does a lot.

[00:16:24] But I think it is. Don't have to carry the movie. And then she's in this. Once again, coming of age drama called good kids. It's about four high school students who decide to embrace post graduation and

[00:16:45] apparently it's decent. She's in the Barack Obama drama called Barry and it's pretty boring I don't recall being in that one. But she had a brief part in the comeback of Twin Peaks. So none are good role.

[00:17:02] Back to doing kids movies dog with way home just trafficked which again, you can understand why she wanted to do it. It was an attempt at just talking about human trafficking while catering to the taking crowd but it just wasn't a very well made

[00:17:17] movie so I can't recommend it. And then again, come back role on the last two seasons of Berlin Station. That's her latest thing and I can say that is must see show and she added to the powerhouse of actors that were already on it.

[00:17:31] I think you'll dig a fun easy spy addiction with Richard armatage Kiki Palmer show for Leland Orser and they're all just dynamite actors. Double crossing up a double crossing.

[00:17:49] So now she's starting and something about Anita Bryant is doing a bunch of other just unusual historical drama so she'd be interested and we'll definitely keep it my out. So I also thank you for joining me here john quick. Any final thoughts on why she's resonating actress.

[00:18:13] She's one that can is almost a chameleon she can play on different kinds of roles, not just like a very typical cute. Yeah, that some people would be in try to hold out and she's always one as I've always said,

[00:18:37] I think that's what the brains can care about. Even if it's a role that's not typical for us, right. She's a man she's pulled to pull it off now. She is definitely a typical playing. We'll return after these messages.

[00:19:00] I'm not sure I'm thinking about who would win a fight between Goku and Superman. Hi, I'm James Gavzian on the who would win show me and my co host Ray ignore anything important happening outside world and debate fictional battles between characters from comics movies and video games.
