[00:00:06] It's a Jacked Up Review Show, It's a Jacked Up Review Show, Jacked Up Review Show

[00:00:16] It's a Jacked Up Review Show, It's a Jacked Up Review Show, Jacked Up Review Show

[00:00:31] Welcome back to the show all and like my usual, having an uncanny guest with a wonderful laid-back resume of skills, talents,

[00:00:54] and interviews. We've got podcasts, hosts, martial artists, and tattoo artists Keith Tatnis McClurry. How are you buddy?

[00:01:03] How's it going brother?

[00:01:05] I'm aiming for the sky.

[00:01:07] I hear you.

[00:01:09] I'm aiming down.

[00:01:11] Oh my god. Yeah, I hear you man. It's crazy times in the movie industry and everything.

[00:01:16] All we can or can't do this.

[00:01:19] God dang. Yeah, I don't know man.

[00:01:22] So, you know, I was just looking forward to this because I just love just visiting just diverse people and others who don't even realize how talented they are at times.

[00:01:35] And it's just people who have gone around, put in the time, and found a connection with their world alone, have found so much satisfaction with what they're doing now.

[00:01:47] Well, you're no exception, but I'm sure you've got plenty of struggles and skills and talents and we'll get to it.

[00:01:54] But more importantly, you know, you've been everywhere just going from podcasts to online radio and just collaborated with so many different people including effects and makeup artists, mixed drawn, other Ontario talents.

[00:02:14] But where did it all begin?

[00:02:16] Oh my god, dude. Yeah, Mick, I love him by the way that's a brother to me. Next the coolest fucking guy.

[00:02:24] So for me.

[00:02:26] Yeah, it was kind of like you know, in college just before college I owned a bar in Ontario, Canada.

[00:02:36] Business partners were not great. And it wasn't worth the headaches that it was, you know, so I decided to go for the military.

[00:02:45] And, oh man, did all that.

[00:02:48] And then there's like a three year waitlist. So I was like, well, I do something in the meantime.

[00:02:54] And I thought, well, I've been training and training and training.

[00:02:58] I don't want it to be for nothing. I'm not going to sit behind a desk. I was like, what about MMA? Like, how cool would that be?

[00:03:04] So I walked into a gym one day in my hometown.

[00:03:10] That ended up being owned by a former MMA fighter and pro wrestler that worked for WWE.

[00:03:20] And he owned and operated the gym. I walked in, it was an MMA gym fell in love with the place and then from there became the show and then movies and everything else so it's been nuts.

[00:03:33] And you go. So when did you decide to take a visit to Georgian college?

[00:03:43] Oh my god.

[00:03:44] But very Ontario. Yeah.

[00:03:47] You know your stuff.

[00:03:50] I don't want to give a sad interview.

[00:03:53] Yeah, man. I went to because I got cousins and whatnot out there. I'm from Toronto. So like, Barry was like an hour and 20 minutes away.

[00:04:02] And it catches up. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:04:08] Right. So I decided to move out there and go to college. And it was like the time of my life because I spent more time in the gym and the bar than I did in class.

[00:04:20] So you kind of as slowly after you made those connections, it pretty much goes in order. Military discharge then MMA then well I guess I need some connections college college.

[00:04:30] You know college was one of those things I was going for business accounting.

[00:04:36] And I realized like, that's not, I know how to do it but doesn't mean I enjoy it.

[00:04:41] I'm a physical person right so I went from college to MMA and try to make that make sense.

[00:04:50] Go to college to crunch numbers and instead you end up getting punched in the face for a living.

[00:04:58] Hey man, still love what you do. So,

[00:05:03] And then it opens so many doors to do movies and things after that that and getting to know so many awesome people like you mentioned mixed drawn who him and Nick Benson are friends of mine and I grew up watching their work and now we're working together on a project so it's kind of

[00:05:19] there you go.

[00:05:23] It's just kind of crazy when you stop and think about it because it's such a small world full circle kind of feeling you grew up watching all their work.

[00:05:32] Never thought in a million years like you're going to know the people that were behind it one day and end up working with them.

[00:05:38] And then respecting your work it's kind of crazy.

[00:05:41] Yeah, that can be really meta to you're like, I will never measure up to them or don't meet your heroes, they're gonna be an asshole. It's like, right, pretty cool, pretty chill.

[00:05:54] So, do you have any other mentors or managers that helped you get some of the various acting gigs because he did a splash damage radio voice ads and got interviewed by Dr.

[00:06:03] Moby on lifestyle TV and then he came out with your book in 2015.

[00:06:08] Anti socially awkward.

[00:06:11] Your stuff Jesus.

[00:06:14] God, yeah, that's going back a bit.

[00:06:18] Yeah, you know honestly, all the things you just mentioned that happened were so random.

[00:06:25] Moby approached me and was like, would you do my show and I'm like, yeah, you know, don't even know how he knew who I was or whatever if you didn't know if he was following my career.

[00:06:41] You know what I mean and then they're gonna be true.

[00:06:44] Movie wise even just like I was a guest on a show.

[00:06:49] And the hosts were like, dude, you're you're 65 to 65 typically of muscle.

[00:06:56] Why are you not the next Myers or Voorhees in a horror movie like why are you not.

[00:07:01] Why are you not movies like there's something about you do that you have this it factor. Why are you not doing movies I'm like because nobody asked.

[00:07:09] Right.

[00:07:11] So, you know, it comes up to you on a regular basis like hey you want to do a movie like.

[00:07:16] So they're like so are you suggesting that if the offer was there, you'd be interested.

[00:07:22] And I was like yeah what the hell why not.

[00:07:24] So they're like well we're producers.

[00:07:27] We'll talk off there.

[00:07:29] And I was like oh damn. So then by the time I got off that live show.

[00:07:37] On Facebook like so many messages from directors producers casting directors and whatever.

[00:07:47] And I heard you're interested in doing movies and whatever and I'm like, hell dude.

[00:07:53] That just happened. You know so it just takes off really quick like that.

[00:07:58] That's lovely.

[00:08:00] Now keep in mind I can't find this book anywhere is it out of print or only.

[00:08:05] It kind of went nuts and then it sat for years and then eventually you know as with everything and just kind of onto the next right the new the new shit so it makes room.

[00:08:16] You ever thought of remastering it, maybe putting it on a website or something.

[00:08:21] I've done that so many times to do that and I'm like yeah I might.

[00:08:27] But, I don't know sometimes I wonder how it would hold up today with the way sensitivity seems to be on a pretty high level these days.

[00:08:37] I think it'd be a little too much.

[00:08:39] You know yeah I guess people are used to my nonsense too so.

[00:08:46] It's not nonsense just honesty.

[00:08:49] I mean, being salty and bitching about things for people's entertainment, and it turned out that people thought it was funny. Nobody was offended by it at the time.

[00:08:59] So maybe it is still maybe add a few chapters and then directors.

[00:09:09] Might be necessary.

[00:09:11] So, all together.

[00:09:14] What gets you up in the morning makes you just say I'm going to conquer the day.

[00:09:19] Oh my god.

[00:09:21] Spite.

[00:09:23] Spite.

[00:09:25] People, I think that just want to see you fail.

[00:09:29] That, I think that's what does it for me not going to give them satisfaction. No, I'm not at all man I'm spiteful as hell like that.

[00:09:37] I mean I got to where I'm at because I was told my whole life I'd never be shit. So I'm like okay now I'm going to do this and I'm doing this and we'll do this and whatever, whatever interested me I end up doing.

[00:09:47] And I feel like that's just a sheer spite.

[00:09:54] And when did the journey into tattoos start or was that always kind of something you were privy to.

[00:10:01] Oh man I was always like a huge art guy, and I think oh nine ish.

[00:10:08] Some people are great with it.

[00:10:11] Yeah, I got a new back then.

[00:10:13] Just the others you're like, holy fuck dude, what'd you do just like a bad Botox is like, oh, yeah, whoever did.

[00:10:20] Look in the mirror sometime.

[00:10:22] You know yeah I so I was getting a sleeve done.

[00:10:26] And my artists that was working on my sleeve actually had mentioned to me if you're interested in doing this because you love art so much.

[00:10:34] I'll run you through it, I'll give you like the breakdown on how to do it and whatever so we went out who I was dating at the time, and my artist and his assistant.

[00:10:47] I wanted to go out for dinner and kind of discuss like, you know all the ins and outs of tattooing. I had my equipment so they said start by taking it apart and putting it back together, because it's so night and day difference from like drawing.

[00:11:03] You don't even have to have an artistic background to be a good tattoo artist as long as you're a good mechanic you know the machine that that's what it comes down to is knowing the machine more so than being artistic so.

[00:11:14] Wow, look at them go.

[00:11:17] That's so hard now.

[00:11:22] It's tough though I yeah it's, it is a learning process my son actually wanted to learn so I sent him my equipment so he can practice and I don't know, we'll see what happens.

[00:11:36] Right.

[00:11:38] Did you have a pretty healthy family life or was it pretty much my own.

[00:11:43] I don't know.

[00:11:45] You talked about a bit of it before but I didn't know how much of it was just melodrama versus, I don't I want nothing to do with them. Yeah, no, it was as healthy as the house fire.

[00:11:56] Sorry.

[00:11:58] It's all good, man. That's common knowledge though like a lot of people there's a whole documentary done about my life so.

[00:12:06] I got to know her like two years ago, for the first time so turns out she's awesome. So there's that.

[00:12:13] So that's the sunny side of life right.

[00:12:16] You go.

[00:12:18] How did you get a bunch of different connections just guests willing to be on your show various drummers various actors, various fashion gal.

[00:12:26] I'm a mixed bag of being friends with a lot of these people from being in the industry.

[00:12:30] And then a lot of them, I became friends with because they did my show.

[00:12:36] And just talking to the right people like I said as a guest on that show. Those guys were producers of movies but they also were PR guys.

[00:12:46] So, a lot of these people are their clients that I ended up becoming friends with so you know runs together.

[00:12:53] Yeah, so I mean small world right you never know who you're gonna end up talking to and you know when people ask you to be on their show you never know what else they have going on so it's pretty cool.

[00:13:03] Right.

[00:13:05] So, looks like your websites down at the moment are you going to relaunch.

[00:13:13] Yeah, there's so much going on. I do want to revamp it.

[00:13:17] There's so much more stuff going on that I want to keep under one umbrella.

[00:13:22] Maybe a tree or something. Yeah, a little more organized I think than it once was I had different people running it at the time. That's now changed so it's time for bigger and better you know.

[00:13:34] Right.

[00:13:36] So, who have been some of your favorite guests you've had all kinds of people you had the.

[00:13:42] You were asked to be on the talk black to me and you've had some various takes on different states Spotify being an asshole and just even teasing what you'll talk about in future season so but it's really just kind of just really just strengthen your heart

[00:14:01] just mean to say you know, this is the right kind of venting is the right kind of talk show. I'm in a good place.

[00:14:08] Guest wise man. Oh my god.

[00:14:13] I think some of the best I've had for me a big one was when I had Johnny Brennan on.

[00:14:22] For those that don't know.

[00:14:24] Back in the 90s there's the jerky boys.

[00:14:28] funniest phone calls you'll ever hear.

[00:14:32] More recently he does the voice of more Goldman on Family Guy.

[00:14:38] So I used to have the jerky boy CD, and he would tape it for me back in the 90s, and I go home had listened to this and just die laughing.

[00:14:50] That's great password a bunch of years on channel where they are again, was it showtime Comedy Central.

[00:14:57] Yeah, he's done so much stuff right.

[00:15:01] And then to have him on and he gave me like two hours of his time. That was super cool.

[00:15:07] For that mixed run Of course everybody knows that's one of my favorite guests ever.

[00:15:12] Brothers like he's a life.

[00:15:16] Yeah, he calls me on Christmas man like what more do you want.

[00:15:20] Nick Benson and like I said we're all working on a movie together at the moment.

[00:15:25] Sorry about the traffic.

[00:15:27] I'm outside.

[00:15:28] I can't hear.

[00:15:29] Dang.

[00:15:31] But, yeah, Nick Benson is another one.

[00:15:36] Dave Ferris was really cool.

[00:15:39] Good friend.

[00:15:40] Having him on was cool.

[00:15:43] Yeah, I mean, I think it's great as the Rob Zombie Halloween remake gets.

[00:15:48] Deg did a killer job man that was a creepy ass little kid.

[00:15:52] You know, you got to be proud of all your work even regardless of whether it's not a critical darling or, you know, if you had.

[00:16:04] Yeah, you know I agree completely like it's a good movie.

[00:16:08] Some people didn't like it.

[00:16:09] Whatever. But dig did a killer job.

[00:16:13] Man there's so many I mean getting to

[00:16:19] hear Leland Sklar say dude I wish my book wasn't just finished and headed off to the publisher because I wanted you in it after meeting you like he did my show he's bass player for Phil Collins and

[00:16:32] a bunch of other bands like dudes been around forever.

[00:16:35] He's got stories for a lifetime.

[00:16:39] You know, more than any of us ever do.

[00:16:42] Yeah, so picking a favorite guest is really tough there's several, I think that.

[00:16:48] I mean anyone knows Nick, I get Nick on the show we just bust each other's chops as much as possible.

[00:16:55] It's just our relationship.

[00:16:58] Nick Benson just laughs about it. He doesn't really get in on it. He'll bust Nick's chops a little bit but Mick talks more than anybody so Nick never gets the same.

[00:17:13] That'd be great.

[00:17:16] But I'm glad that, again, these are just memories are always going to have and you're

[00:17:23] just growing as an interviewer too.

[00:17:26] Yeah, I mean, you know it's more or less for me is just having a conversation with my friends you know I mean, but it's gotten to a point where the first year of the show.

[00:17:38] I did over 100 shows that year.

[00:17:43] I was doing four shows a day over an hour long, having guests on, you know for a day.

[00:17:51] Making time for everybody so it was like you'd go from like Phil Collins bass player to kid rocks guitarist to Stephen Perkins that played for James addiction and nine inch nails.

[00:18:04] You know, just try to talk about diverse man. Yeah, so they're trying to like absorb all that in one day.

[00:18:12] And then you have to spend a lot of time to even consider how cool it is that you get to talk to these people.

[00:18:18] You're trying to meet deadlines so much so it all just kind of, you know, becomes a blur.

[00:18:29] To the point where you're just like, yeah, that happened.

[00:18:32] Yeah, I look back and I'm like oh shit that's right I did have that person on my show.

[00:18:37] Totally forgot because I had so many at once.

[00:18:42] So, all together I mean what events do you have upcoming and are you looking forward to it because now you're seeing you when approach of the same way you would five years ago, you're still growing.

[00:18:56] Oh my god. Um, yeah I've been doing this like eight years now, and nothing surprises me anymore, but still I appreciate everything so I think for me working with Mitch strong and Nick Benson is like one of the coolest things to look forward to.

[00:19:15] I think I got a lot more in my I've toned things down a bit, so I can enjoy my personal life a bit more.

[00:19:22] And side you need it. Yeah, man, and do cool shit so like we just went Friday we went to see smackdown.

[00:19:31] Because it was out here in Calgary and I was like, that's cool. I never went, never, you know, never had interest but I do like the guy that you know is responsible for my career work for that company.

[00:19:44] And I haven't gone to see a live event yet come on man. Let's fix that. We're going to the 50 cent concert in September.

[00:19:54] He had some concert turnout so I never seen live. I like his music is, and I know we've still doing that.

[00:20:02] Yeah, this is last tour he's retiring from music to do more like directing and producing.

[00:20:09] Let's go, you know and so balancing out like I got a lot of professional stuff that I'm looking forward to doing. But I kind of enjoy the personal life stuff now to you, but I didn't have much of a life outside of work in my career right so

[00:20:25] right.

[00:20:27] How you do.

[00:20:32] All together. What podcast platforms do you recommend for others getting into this.

[00:20:38] Yeah, that's a good one.

[00:20:41] There's so many that are picky like, yeah, Amazon's picky apples picky.

[00:20:48] Like they listen to the sound quality. And then they decide if they want to all about it.

[00:20:56] Good use of our quality our brand.

[00:21:00] They do that with movies to now they took it away because they're like we got so many people send the shitty movies.

[00:21:07] Done.

[00:21:09] And I can't blame them because I would see stuff on there even stuff I had seen locally here in Dallas, Texas is like, Nope, Nope, Nope. I'll leave a review but you will not like it.

[00:21:20] No.

[00:21:21] Yeah, yeah they can't all be fucking winners can they but now.

[00:21:28] Now I've seen some things to where I was just like, No, just looking at the name. I'm like, No, I'm good.

[00:21:35] There's something about them.

[00:21:37] So I know you're talking about the platform is not selective in that regard. New.

[00:21:43] It's more like reject or a courteous duly noted.

[00:21:50] We'll see you around buddy.

[00:21:52] Come back. We got something. And I get it, you know, some people are afraid of hurting people's feelings and then there's other moments where it's like, I don't know.

[00:22:04] Yeah, that's the problem is there's so much like D list stuff out there that people threw together with like 10 bucks and couple of friends right.

[00:22:18] We'd get very very annoying because you're like, there's some talent here and you weren't probably the best part was the cover.

[00:22:25] It's just not high praise. No, there's a rule in acting man.

[00:22:34] Everyone's gonna do some bad movies.

[00:22:37] Just don't be the bad actor and you know I'm saying you can have good actors do bad movies. That's life that's going to happen.

[00:22:47] The script could be amazing but if the executions poor.

[00:22:52] You know, as long as you're doing your part as best you can. That's pretty much the important thing right so

[00:23:04] I don't know what's the weirdest like what's maybe the worst movie you've ever seen. I'm curious. I always wonder.

[00:23:12] I mean, I think there's a lot of things that are scary.

[00:23:17] Terrible things. I mainly is just movies that didn't live up to the hype that had just nothing but okay acting but pretentious predictable stories and nothing but just walking around with gorgeous Lee shot scenery.

[00:23:31] I think that's the worst movie of the entire decade just inconsistent in tone doesn't know if it wants to be an exploitation movie and artsy torture movie or just

[00:23:44] stupid greenhouse movie, and I'm just like, Well, I saw the extended cut. So you cannot tell me I did not give this the extra time that it merited wasted my time.

[00:23:55] I think that's the worst movie of Christopher Nolan's recent movies so yeah fuck tenant, you know you guys can praise always war movies but tenant. That is like the most anti climatic Twilight Zone episode I think I've seen.

[00:24:09] I'm not going to say it's galore but mainly most of the stuff on the bottom 100 I'm pretty much in agreement with just because they're either really bad toy commercials or reality should stars trying to act and failing to do so or just trashy sci fi movies that you need a beer for and a bunch of

[00:24:28] but yeah, I mean, we all have stuff that just kind of just

[00:24:34] turn torches off and just makes us go.

[00:24:37] I can't get that time and money back so i mean i really do. If I think i'm not going to like it, I do wait for still for HBO and showtime and we'll just say okay, I'm going to record this and watch it at two in the morning and kill it after 20 minutes.

[00:24:52] It's.

[00:24:54] That's the way to do it or fast forward to the stuff that people have told me to look at but otherwise you know it's a drag and you know I know instantly if I'm not going to hang with it or not and I can tell you instantly.

[00:25:05] It's only helped me enforce why I like what I like why I don't like what I dislike and empower me, I think anyone can they just got to say hey do I want to be constructive Do I want to give you a paragraph.

[00:25:20] Right, you know.

[00:25:23] Yeah, it's on the same way.

[00:25:26] I pretty much know at the gate. If I'm going to hate something.

[00:25:32] It's funny people think it's hilarious that I'll do horror movies.

[00:25:37] But I'm right. I'm not a fan of like extreme gore.

[00:25:43] Yeah, torture porn, it was kind of like fast and furious with action whereas like, okay, if this is what the future of the franchise says count me out you know like I need the genre needs to be very enforcing I saw sorry that disgraced that whole saga but if you got psychological monkeys

[00:26:01] or just some other kind of just creative slasher or psychological, you know, fantasy you know I'm down. But yeah, I think people don't even know what that the genres mean half the time you'll see people are like why was that action I'm like because it's exciting boxing yada yada I don't count sports is action I'm like well too bad.

[00:26:23] And then you see other people same thing with horror they're like, I had it wasn't scary I'm like well it only got that because of the Gothic setting because there's a giant monster.

[00:26:32] It's not going to be exact to your parameters every time.

[00:26:38] Exactly right and that's just it.

[00:26:41] Movies can range some of them feel miserably some of them need to decide to pick a lane and stay in them.

[00:26:48] But yeah, to your point like I, I'm the same way like I can't do that overly glory shit.

[00:26:56] So it's just nothing but yeah just bloodshed and you're just like bored after the fifth, you know, brutal, you know, murder.

[00:27:06] Right, you know,

[00:27:09] if it's campy or whatever I'm here for it as if it looks fake enough.

[00:27:16] Or you'll just hear just the most dumbest dialogue and everyone's like, Oh, why are you laughing? I'm like, did you hear what they're saying?

[00:27:24] It's either trying to be deliberately bad or just, I don't know.

[00:27:30] I think it's funny that I'm not a huge, it's well documented I'm not huge on like torture porn and excessive gore.

[00:27:42] So my first movie of course is created by a guy who holds a Guinness World Record for most kills in a horror movie, and it's graphic shit because he's also a graphic you know effects artist does a lot of the practical stuff.

[00:27:57] I'm friends with mixed on as well.

[00:27:59] Mick taught him a couple things here and there but Joe Castro.

[00:28:04] He did.

[00:28:06] This is the other funny thing is first maybe I do Joe Castro is the creator.

[00:28:11] He worked on the Harry Potter movies.

[00:28:14] My first show, I go in hard and double down on my disdain for Harry Potter movies.

[00:28:21] No interest whatsoever.

[00:28:23] So I think I went as far as to say that I was a great effects, but maybe the first one watchable but everything else.

[00:28:30] Just stop. He literally worked on them, and I'm sitting here publicly saying that they're trash.

[00:28:36] And then I'm like, I'm dumb. I'm like, Hey man so you're gonna hear some shit. He's like I already know.

[00:28:42] It's fine dude dig what you dig like if you it's not for you. That's cool.

[00:28:46] I will still see some of that gatekeeping. I've had to do that with my sister where, you know, even before rest in peace William Freak and I passed away she'd see some of these different snobby arguments he's Chris Aze or Oliver Stone had and I'm like, and oh and Jane Campion the piano and you're the dog doesn't like super most like, and the same deal is like and then Dennis Vanabh of Sicario Blade Runner.

[00:29:11] And Dune fame was on the record saying he hated that and got an argument with Neil Blomkamp of District nine and Gran Turismo fame.

[00:29:17] And he loves them the latter does and I was like, and that's fine. They're neither wrong nor right. It's their opinion. I love all those guys who you've just mentioned, they will do more than any of these superhero hacks.

[00:29:30] So tell me what is the point.

[00:29:33] Why do they hate them.

[00:29:36] I don't care that their old school old timer 70s guys they were bound to not like stuff from the new generation. I, and that's fine. They're done masterpieces. They've done cult movies they've done more than any of us will do in this lifetime.

[00:29:50] If Spielberg was making a cynical remark one day I would not care. I'd be like great body work. Don't care.

[00:29:56] Right.

[00:29:58] That's just it right like, I don't care that they don't like super movies because, a, I don't care for half of these super movies and be they are entitled to their opinion.

[00:30:07] Right. That's just it. You know, I'm opinionated as hell everybody knows that you got to be that's your, that's your formula. Yeah, but but for me at the same time I'm also aware that just because I dislike something doesn't mean it's not successful.

[00:30:25] There's a ton of people obviously that paid good money to make this multi bajillion dollar franchise like

[00:30:32] Now that they know there's a lot of corporate media and anyone can take a bribe.

[00:30:37] Wait a second, why you like this fast and furious movie I hated the last six.

[00:30:43] I get that something that may not be for me doesn't mean it sucks like.

[00:30:53] Yeah, I'll spot on say hey guys I am not the audience for this I don't know why it's not kind of the mustard.

[00:31:01] Not my, you know, like, this is no mistaking this is a good movie or TV show but I'm not the audience for it so I'm going to just text on my phone until we get to the end point.

[00:31:15] I'm going to show that has made my top 10 TV shows of the year.

[00:31:20] Exactly right so just because something's not necessarily for me doesn't mean that it's not good it's not successful I get that.

[00:31:28] So some people need to calm down when you say you really dislike something.

[00:31:33] Dare you because I don't like it.

[00:31:40] I mean thankfully I haven't had anyone yet be like, well you don't like my favorite movie so now I like any movies you do.

[00:31:47] I like that you know personal thing.

[00:31:51] You know, but I can imagine somebody feeling that way I haven't gotten that hate mail yet thankfully but I can see someone doing that.

[00:31:58] People get way personal about this kind of thing. This is it too and they take it so personally to where it's just like, it is never meant to be personal.

[00:32:07] Right, but they're like, I like you and then you went and said that.

[00:32:12] And then that's where I say well you can either choose to be a friend or you can act your age.

[00:32:21] Or you can buzz off since clearly you're still.

[00:32:26] That's the other thing too. I'll see so many people say I'm a nice person as this and then they'll say something else like you're in your parents basement.

[00:32:34] I'm like, Whoa, okay motor mouth I thought you said you were going to leave by example and be a nice guy. Well that's not so nice. It's pretty shabby and shitty actually.

[00:32:41] Doesn't last long, does it? Yeah, just filter everyone out. You'll know instantly whether they're going to be a trooper or not.

[00:32:49] No, absolutely.

[00:32:53] Yeah, I've been known.

[00:32:57] My fair share of industry fucking beefs with people because they want the nicest of people. I don't play that shit.

[00:33:05] Right.

[00:33:07] Do you have some historical fighting stories.

[00:33:10] Yeah, Pink's drummer was the big one that we had this thing.

[00:33:16] But I have heard some of her people she was having to get in arguments with saying no that's not what I want to do. What the hell guys.

[00:33:26] It was a whole goddamn thing and it was it was this thing where I think my producer at the time.

[00:33:35] I just spelled his last name by a letter and it was early in the morning.

[00:33:41] And intended.

[00:33:44] Yeah, he never off.

[00:33:47] And just got disrespectful. No, no, no, no.

[00:33:51] Yeah, that was the gist of it. Sorry, Mark. We're cool now. But that's how he came across.

[00:33:57] And I was not going to have someone that works for me disrespected like that. So I stepped in and you know, I was pretty professional about it but he was still being kind of like on his high horse about it.

[00:34:12] So then I was like, You know what?

[00:34:15] Yeah, and I'm not the one man. So we had a year long thing.

[00:34:21] But then it turned out before people get to like on the poor guy.

[00:34:26] He was going through like a cancer scare that I had no knowledge of.

[00:34:32] And I was like, Hey, man, none of that matters anymore. Like your health is top priority.

[00:34:44] None of this other crap is important. And we've been cool since so but that was that was yeah that was probably freaky.

[00:34:54] The most interesting one.

[00:34:59] And do you have any other upcoming things and give a good producing staff now.

[00:35:06] Yeah, man, working on movies with like I said mixed on Nick Benson I've got an autobiography coming out that I've been working on since the beginning or so or like middle of last year so there's that.

[00:35:22] Writing is boring sometimes not gonna lie.

[00:35:27] Writing it back you're like how is this so boring to type this because we got to go from boring just to get to exciting.

[00:35:34] Apparently right so I say yeah there's a few of those things that.

[00:35:39] And then the relaunch of the show, doing what I call Inferno Jeopardy. So, you have some of the hottest wing sauces out there and get them from hot ones themselves.

[00:35:52] And the idea of the game is the harder the question, the worse the consequence for getting it wrong.

[00:36:00] We'll return after these messages.

[00:36:04] The jacked up review show podcast is honored to be part of the blind knowledge podcast network. Join anytime talk the talk and enjoy yourselves. There's something enlightening for everyone with this crowd of cool cats.

[00:36:57] Do you ever find yourself thinking about who would win a fight between Goku and Superman. Hi I'm James Gavsie and on the Who Would Win show me and my co host Ray ignore anything important happening the outside world and debate fictional battles between characters from comics movies and video games, we got a new show every week, and almost always am I the winner.

[00:37:15] Yeah, not true right in the past we've discussed such matches as Captain America versus Darth Vader solid snake versus the Iron Giant classic matchups like Robocop versus Terminator, and even the Muppets versus Sesame Street.

[00:37:29] That one was crazy. So if you're a fan of geek culture and love a spirited debate. Check out the Who Would Win show wherever you get your podcast or check us out at who would win show calm.

[00:37:40] So the, the harder the question the harder the sauce basically if you get it right.

[00:37:45] Yeah, you gotta eat a wing with extremely hot sauce to punish yourself for getting the answer wrong.

[00:37:53] And I'm bringing celebrity friends on to do this.

[00:37:56] Sweet Vikings like hot ones kind of, but yeah, so I'm gonna see if I can convince mixed on to accept my challenge. I'm doing it too man I'm eating this cat with the total director is like if I'm putting you for the ring I got to do it too.

[00:38:12] Yeah, I won't know the questions I won't know anything.

[00:38:17] Oh yeah, for sure. I won't know the questions therefore it's perfectly fair.

[00:38:22] I just ate a damn wing that first I had to sign a waiver to eat these 10 wings that they're that hot you got to sign a waiver.

[00:38:34] And then after if you complete those which I did. They were delicious.

[00:38:40] There's a wing that's so hot you can, you're only allowed to order one.

[00:38:45] And so I did. But you can only order one, and you have to actually eat a full order of the waiver wings first.

[00:38:53] So I ate this damn wing.

[00:38:55] It was no joke.

[00:38:57] Turns out it was 6 million Scoville.

[00:39:02] I was the last dad is literally 2 million.

[00:39:08] This was three times harder than that.

[00:39:11] And I ate the whole damn way. And I was like an animal died for this I'm eating the whole thing, you know,

[00:39:19] it was no job.

[00:39:22] Right, but I did it.

[00:39:24] So I look forward to this challenge because we're not gonna have anything near 6 million Scoville that's just punishment.

[00:39:31] Yeah, be too much.

[00:39:33] I have something still reasonably hot and have a bunch of celebrities that may not be able to handle it.

[00:39:39] Can't handle the truth.

[00:39:45] Maybe good times.

[00:39:47] It would definitely be hell of a time.

[00:39:54] I got to commend you man. You've done your homework, you know, more than most people when they have me on their show.

[00:40:01] You know, I have a lot more about my work and my history than most people do.

[00:40:06] So it's amazing.

[00:40:08] You'll see people are like, I was seeing some of that before is like, okay, you just saw the first five banners in the feed.

[00:40:13] You didn't actually listen.

[00:40:18] And I like how you're doing a recap and best of the year.

[00:40:21] That's when I know that a podcaster is happy with themselves proud of their work and going to keep going.

[00:40:29] Yeah, it was something where it's like, dude, it's what for four years now or so going on four years of the show.

[00:40:37] So I was like, there's some insane things weird conversations that have taken place.

[00:40:44] I'm an idiot. So come up with some conversations that people like what.

[00:40:52] So I figured, let's make a compilation of those shows the weirdest parts of those shows put them all together.

[00:41:01] And people will listen to it just like what in the hell.

[00:41:06] Yeah, where did that come from?

[00:41:08] You gotta have a sense of humor these days man.

[00:41:11] There's a lot of doubt or they take themselves too seriously.

[00:41:15] Yeah, you know, I just thought it was funny the way the show started out that way.

[00:41:21] Where I didn't take seriously because I didn't really think after Miami maker, who's who's even listening to this right now.

[00:41:28] It turned out that like millions of downloaders immediately I'm like, oh shit people are listening.

[00:41:32] Okay, now you're going to take this seriously and actually do something with it.

[00:41:35] So yeah, interesting guess and took it overnight.

[00:41:39] Yeah, you know, very nice very nice.

[00:41:50] All together. But what are some other stuff that's upcoming or events you'll be attending that her once you check out.

[00:41:59] I'm hoping to end up at a few horror cons of your way.

[00:42:05] Next.

[00:42:08] I was supposed to be at one and then COVID happened and I actually ended up getting this.

[00:42:14] So it's like yeah, I can't travel now I got fucking COVID man.

[00:42:22] Fuckin stocks. Yeah, it's kind of a weird feeling where like my throat was a bit sore and I was like, a lot of times.

[00:42:29] My father and sister both got it. The irony is my father got it from going to a health conference.

[00:42:35] I saw too many people and my sister just kept taking her mask off on the plane and I don't know she's always been prone to more sickness and me and my mother I'm not got it.

[00:42:45] If we did maybe we felt a little off I guess maybe in 2019 but that was it you know like we have no documented moments where it's like yeah that that happened.

[00:42:56] Yeah, it wasn't until I moved to this province that I got it. So yeah, I was dating someone at the time that gave it to me.

[00:43:03] So that's oh sometimes.

[00:43:07] Yeah, I'm like well if you test the positive I know I have it so it is what it is.

[00:43:14] Yeah, wasn't too terrible thankfully.

[00:43:17] Well, makes a difference.

[00:43:23] But still annoying to go through.

[00:43:25] I'll give you a free one man funny story during that time.

[00:43:29] I thought having the mask on, make you less recognizable.

[00:43:35] I went to a grocery store full disclosure.

[00:43:39] Okay, I was going this grocery store. I just got here, like two weeks prior.

[00:43:46] Everyone knows I'm originally from Toronto. I went to a different province I came back to Alberta. I ended up in Edmonton.

[00:43:54] And I go to this grocery store and I got the mask on the whole thing because that was kind of what was required at the time. Yeah, so I'm like, they're not gonna recognize me, I forget I have tattoos that are very distinct.

[00:44:08] My height.

[00:44:10] It's kind of a dead giveaway.

[00:44:12] This is usually a dead giveaway and I'm like, I got them all fooled no one's gonna know who the hell I am.

[00:44:19] And full disclosure I smoked a joint so I was higher than pterodactyl tits, and start trying to go in the door that says out so it's not going to open, obviously.

[00:44:31] And outside this person, her and her partner like work partner there.

[00:44:37] We're doing this charity thing.

[00:44:40] So she turns around she's like wrong door, and I'm like, Oh yeah.

[00:44:45] And she laughs because immediately she knew who the hell I was.

[00:44:49] That's why she's paying attention to the fact that it's not even trying to go in the right door.

[00:44:54] Okay, there's nothing later that night. First thing I see on Google is that I was spotted out here at a grocery store with some unidentified blonde shit who has date.

[00:45:05] They literally said unidentified blonde woman.

[00:45:09] Kidding me the small world in Ontario.

[00:45:12] This is not even Ontario this is Alberta, Alberta. Oh shit.

[00:45:16] So sorry you did say you move.

[00:45:18] Yeah, so it's like that's, you know, wild that's who the hell cares for starters because like is he dating her or they just friends who is that, like, y'all care that much huh.

[00:45:30] You know like it's so weird. And then Google you'll see stuff like people also search for, and then I'll put like my name, and then his wife pictures of his wife, kids.

[00:45:43] So weird did.

[00:45:45] Okay, okay.

[00:45:46] And if you were to be interviewed by teams, what was the first thing you'd say,

[00:45:57] can't resist.

[00:45:59] Damn.

[00:46:02] I guess it depends on what I did to get on.

[00:46:09] Oftentimes when things stress me out I'm like y'all gonna see me on TMZ tonight.

[00:46:17] So, first thing I would say is don't believe the hype. Maybe you know, I didn't do it.

[00:46:25] Do it.

[00:46:27] Whatever it is, you think this is an asshole.

[00:46:32] There was a time in my own kitchen, where one of my exes heard like this crash I'm like nothing happened. I'm going to need a broom though.

[00:46:43] Something happened nothing got a clean of a mess but that's right so TMZ. That's what I would say is I didn't do nothing.

[00:46:53] That's great.

[00:46:57] Yeah, and.

[00:47:00] So you've been going to some lives of fights and sports events.

[00:47:06] What are some venues and other stadiums everyone should go to at least once in their life.

[00:47:12] Oh man.

[00:47:15] That's a great question. There's so many I just the Saddle Dome Friday night was awesome.

[00:47:22] I love it. I have.

[00:47:26] They have a certain respect out here man I'm from Toronto so I'm still getting used to this but they have a certain respect for like people from Calgary and we had a Bret Hart like banner hanging from the ceiling and like I make sense I guess.

[00:47:42] Well the hockey players

[00:47:45] in the US.

[00:47:49] The Center is awesome.

[00:47:52] There's a lot of good ones man.

[00:47:55] I think they're all unique that's what I love about it, they're all architecturally different. So,

[00:48:02] I think I have respect for everyone I go into just because they all have a different layout and advantages.

[00:48:12] Good.

[00:48:14] Good good.

[00:48:17] Well, when will we ever see you any martial arts movie or playing a horror creature with your buddy Mick.

[00:48:24] Oh my god.

[00:48:26] I'm sorry casual acting but it's been here and there.

[00:48:30] Yeah, I'm selective about what I choose to do.

[00:48:35] My first movie like I got to work with linear quickly who played trash and return of the living dead like that terror to.

[00:48:43] Yeah, so that's a pretty huge, you know compliment to work with somebody like that first thing you do.

[00:48:51] I'm working on something that hopefully by next year we get it really off the ground with strong and Benson and, you know, when you're working with people that worked on nightmare and Elstreet three and four that's pretty dope.

[00:49:03] Yeah, candy man.

[00:49:07] You know you can't really go wrong the practical stuff is gonna be really cool. All this fun stuff.

[00:49:12] I do want more pitches that like excite me though you know I mean like that make me feel like I have to do this movie.

[00:49:20] Not just Oh generic, you know, yeah, I don't I don't like doing stuff just for the money. I either have to really just want to work with the person involved or some of the people involved.

[00:49:36] Or really believe in the project itself.

[00:49:40] When I do horror stuff like we're not aiming for an Oscar here we know horror movies don't get those, you know, acknowledgements right. So I do it based on who's working on it, who's creating it.

[00:49:56] And if they really background check.

[00:49:59] Yeah, if it's a mad honor to work with those people. I can't turn that down.

[00:50:05] You know what I mean that's just another cool thing to say at the end of the day on your deathbed you got to work with these great creative minds right right.

[00:50:14] Don't do it for the money. Yeah, I do for to be able to say like I did a thing or two, you know, so

[00:50:23] Hopefully there are more diverse things coming in the future. There you go. Comedy wise, especially.

[00:50:31] Can only hope. Yeah, because I'm not doing like just horror, you know what I mean.

[00:50:36] But as soon as that's the first type of movie you do everyone thinks that yeah people like to typecast and then complain why is so and so typecast because you asked me to be

[00:50:50] Right. So yourself, folks, you know, so you have to know when to break away from that so you don't end up in that spot permanently.

[00:51:01] Yeah, so I mean aside from that just more interviews are coming and relaunching the old show and then still doing the radio show and then creating a third.

[00:51:13] The thing is, when I do launch the old show again.

[00:51:18] And we do this inferno jeopardy with celebrity guests it's going to be a multi like a simulcast. So we're going to do tennis radio and the podcast at the same time.

[00:51:31] So when the radio cuts to music.

[00:51:36] The pod will still be showing what's still currently happening in studio.

[00:51:42] With this celebrity guests and the whole thing so it's gonna be interesting to balance the two at the same time, but I think it'll give everybody the best of both worlds.

[00:51:55] Very lovely. And where can we find you on the social interwebs.

[00:52:00] Oh my god, I'm all over Facebook.

[00:52:33] I don't allow it.

[00:52:35] I mean how how the trade do you feel if you think that someone whose work.

[00:52:41] You admire, you think you're talking to them and you're talking to someone that thinks yeah I always get that disclaimer so and so, or their social media manager liked my comment you know I don't know.

[00:52:53] So, if you get a response is legitimately me.

[00:52:58] But that's also the reason why there's not a lot of posting, because I just don't care. Like, it's about the people not throwing things at a wall and hoping something sticks you know.

[00:53:10] Right.

[00:53:11] If people reach out.

[00:53:13] I will to the best of my ability get back to them but I don't post all the time, unless there's something worth posting, you know, or just to say I did for the first time in a bit.
