Wal-Mart Mall

This week we discuss what we have been watching, Wal-Mart has bought Monroeville Mall and we discuss what that means for the mall and we get our first look at The Fantastic Four movie, plus so much more

[00:00:25] to episode 605 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean. And I'm Ian, and this is the only podcast that says... What you need is a fatty boom-batty blunt, and I guarantee you'll be seeing a sailboat, an ocean, and maybe even some of those big-titty mermaids doing some of that lesbian shit. Look at me. Look at me, you sloppy bitch. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. This is so beautiful.

[00:00:55] Well, after you spoke to her as if you were like Vincent Price, she is just like, you are my people. I know. Yeah. What is going on, Sabine, right? I don't know. She's doing the podcast. She is. Sabine's like, I am the podcast. Right. So how are you, sir? I'm good. Yeah. Yeah, just busy. Yeah. Mm-hmm. You are busy.

[00:01:24] That's what I said last week. Ian's absence is because he's a busy man. He has shit to do. I did. You know. Unlike me. Yeah. I got nothing. Yeah, I did. Last week was busy. Busy weekend. Yeah. But, yeah, I did watch some things. Did you? Yeah. What did you watch? Oh, let's see. I even wrote it down. You even wrote it down. Look at you.

[00:01:54] So, Stork will be so proud because, like, he's always criticizing me for, like, you have a notepad on your phone. Why don't you just put it in? I'm like, because I rely on my memory. I think. You know. I'm like the old forest. Yeah. I don't remember the name of this one, but I started some weird... I'm pretty sure it's Korean zombie series.

[00:02:24] Okay. I don't know if I missed it because the date on it didn't make a lot of sense to me. Like, the year. Yeah. I was like, huh, I don't think I ever watched this. Okay. You know? Um, and I started watching it and I could not, uh, get into it. Like, it started off with a bang. Yeah. I'm like, wow, this is, this is really good.

[00:02:52] And then it drew, then it turned into, like, this drama. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, I just could not, I don't know, I just could, I couldn't get into it. Yeah. So, anyway, um, so then, that was the last thing I tried to get into. I just couldn't, but then I watched The Arcadian. Okay. With Nicolas Cage. Okay.

[00:03:21] Now, you know, it's always a toss up on Nicolas Cage. With Cage, you're even getting bullshit or a masterpiece. This was a masterpiece. Okay, yeah. Did you watch it? No, I haven't. It's incredible. Like, I freaking loved it. Like, he wasn't doing, he was just, it wasn't, it wasn't like he was chewing up screen either. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Um, he was not chewing up screen.

[00:03:50] It was like a post-apocalyptic style movie. Yeah. It was fantastic. Now, the CGI on some parts were not bad, but it was just a little bit, it was different. It was good. The CGI was good. Yeah. There were a couple parts I was like, I don't know if they can do that. But, um, it is really, a really good movie. I really enjoyed it. A lot of jump scares. Yeah.

[00:04:20] Um, a lot of jump scares. It was just, it was well done. Yeah. Uh, the way it was shot was really good. Um, you just had this sense of impending doom. You know what I mean? Like. Right. Yeah. Just well-directed, well-acted. Uh, I loved it. Yeah. So. Yeah. I'm looking at that. They didn't need to go any further. I don't know what stars it got on. Yeah. Tomatoes or IMDB, but it's actually a really good movie. Yeah.

[00:04:48] I was pretty impressed as far as like, as far as like a horror style movie. I really liked this one. Yeah. I'm going to have to give this a watch. Yeah. It's really good. Yeah. I was completely sort of blown away by it so much. So I didn't even get up. Yeah. You know, if I don't get up. Right. Yeah. Then I'm engrossed. Yeah. And this movie I was engrossed in. Yeah. I was like, holy shit.

[00:05:19] But yeah, it was good. Very good. I highly recommend it. Okay. As far as like from a horror style, you know. Yeah. Genre, whatever movie. This was good. Yeah. I was thinking it's on Hulu. Yeah, it was on Hulu. I don't know. I thought it was on Netflix. According to this. Let me just make sure. No, I'm on IMDb. I just wanted to see what the movie was. Yeah.

[00:05:48] But according to this, it's on Hulu. And streaming on AMC Plus and Hulu. Okay. So we watched it on Hulu. Yeah. But yeah. When you read the preface, it's like, here we go again. You know. Well, not necessarily because there's nothing to preference. It's just like, you know, you're living a father and his twin sons fight to survive

[00:06:16] in a remote farmhouse at the end of the world. Yeah. Okay. That's enough to hook me. Like, you know what I mean? Like, I'll give you 15 minutes to try to get me in. You know. Yeah. I just thought it was, I thought it was a great movie. Yeah. And I'll probably watch it again. Yeah. Believe it or not. It was just really good.

[00:06:44] Like, it wasn't like, I don't know. It got 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, five and a half on IMDb. Flick's philosopher gave it three and a half. I thought it was decent. Yeah. I mean, I don't understand where people are. I don't know how you can judge a movie like this. You know what I mean? Like, is it going to win any awards? No. Right. You know? But the way it's shot.

[00:07:12] Was it a well done movie that you found engrossing? Oh, yeah. Yes. It's that thing like, you know, last week Thad chastised me for not liking Gladiator 2. Oh, my God. I won't even watch it. Right. Well, I mean, like, he apparently really enjoyed it. Oh, okay. Okay. He's like, you know, you wouldn't know a good movie if it hit you in the face. I mean, well, okay. You know, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

[00:07:41] I thought it was a horrible movie. And everybody else I've spoken with has also hated it. Yeah. You know? Like, I haven't found anybody who has said, like, oh, that was a really good movie. Got a balloon knot in my face. Get out of here. Get out of here. Jesus. And this is my asshole. Right. He's like, doesn't my tail look like a good mustache for you? Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Welcome to my house. Yeah.

[00:08:11] So, like, I get, like, I've always understood, like, you know, obviously there are people who like movies for whatever reason. Mm-hmm. I am a, like I said, I'm a notoriously known for enjoying a good, bad movie. Mm-hmm. You know? I will freely admit that. Yeah. However, you know, Gladiator 2 wasn't one of them. No. You know? But, but like, but like, so there are people who are going to look at this movie, your Nicolas

[00:08:38] Cage movie, and they're going to be like, oh, yeah, that, that wasn't good. You know? Like, I, but, so be right. God damn it. She's tearing up everything. I don't care about you humans. But, so like, I get where it's, it's not everybody's cup of tea for whatever reason, but as long

[00:09:07] as you enjoyed it, that's all that matters. And like, looking at it just kind of quickly, like, I'm like, I might be watching this tonight. Yeah. It was, it was wild. Yeah. It was, yeah, it was good. Yeah. Yeah. You have to say it is, I really liked it. Yeah. Then I want, and also I watched Back in Action with Jamie Foxx. I watched that too. I watched that last time. I thought it was great. I thought it was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Yeah.

[00:09:34] And that's, I mean, like, I thought it was a movie that I enjoyed and like. Yeah. You know, I thought, wow. I mean, this is, I think this is one of her first movies back. It is. Yeah. And I thought she was fantastic. I did. I thought it was good. Cameron, this had Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in it. And it's basically, it's in that genre of, you know, the retired spy who has a family. Yeah. They're both spies in this instance. Yeah.

[00:10:03] And, you know, shit happens and now they're, the family's in danger. It's become a sub-genre of the spy movies, which I enjoy. When done well, I enjoy. Anyway, I thought this was done well. The only thing that bugged me. Yeah. I mean, and there's a lot of bullshit in the movie, but, and it took me out for just a minute. The CGI at the beginning of the movie with their faces, because they were being de-aged 15 years. Yeah. Yeah. Looked bad. Yeah. I didn't. Like, yeah.

[00:10:31] I was almost like, ooh, ooh, that's rough. That's, uh. Yeah. But the rest of the movie was pretty good. I liked it. Like, I really appreciated how Jamie Foxx wasn't, like, too over the top. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Because a lot of movies, sort of like Kevin Hart, they just. They let him go. Yeah. But he was kind of held back a little bit and it was more focused on Cameron Diaz a little bit more. Yeah. Which I liked. Yeah.

[00:11:01] You know what I mean? So, yeah, I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was pretty damn good. Yeah. Like, I. It was a movie. I didn't go in. Like, I wanted to watch it because it looked interesting, but I didn't have high hopes for it. I didn't either. And it cleared the bar. Yeah. You know, like, I mean, it was better than I thought. It wasn't phenomenal. Yeah. I thought the action fighting sequences were good. Yeah. It kept moving, I thought. Yeah.

[00:11:29] So, yeah, it was well worth the time that I watched it. It was fun. And I got to. I watched it with Elle. Yeah. Yeah. And, and Leigh's. And, um. Yeah, we almost watched something that was so clever we didn't put on. But, uh, that's the other movie I watched. Um. But, yeah, I, I liked the movie. Like, it entertained me. Yeah. It, like, it was funny. You know? Yeah. Yeah.

[00:11:58] I thought it was really good. I thought Jamie Foxx was excellent. Yeah. You know, I thought she was great. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was really good. So, yeah, I watched that. The next night, Ellie was, you know, not there that night. We watched Blink twice. Okay. Okay. Wow. Okay. That's the Channing Tatum movie. Okay. Have you heard anything about this? No.

[00:12:29] That crazy? Crazy. Crazy. And, and the title doesn't, I mean, like, this is not, whatever it says, you know, about the movie. Yeah. Uh, doesn't even give it justice for, I don't know, I still don't know how I feel about the movie. Put it that way. Okay. All right. What was the name again? I'm sorry. Blink twice. Yeah, Blink twice. Yeah, this sounds. Yeah.

[00:13:00] Yeah, this sounds very bizarre. It got a 75% on Tomato, six and a half on IMDb, and Metacritic gave it 66. Yeah. Um, the cast was great. And that's what I take away from it is, I thought Channing Tatum was amazing. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Like, I thought the acting was done very well. Yeah. But boy, insane.

[00:13:30] Well, this explains right here. Kind of drag a little bit. What's that? It's directed by Zoe Kravitz. Okay. It was written by Zoe Kravitz and directed by Zoe Kravitz. So, that right there. Yeah. Explains probably a great deal of the insanity. It was insane. Yeah. And I think this, what is that? Puff Daddy is sort of similar. You know what I mean? Yeah. Stuff like that. But I mean, Christian Slater was in it, and he was amazing.

[00:14:01] And I don't even like Christian Slater. That much. You know what I mean? The kid from Sixth Sense was in it. Yeah. Haley Joel Osment was in it. Uh-huh. Gina Davis is in it. And she looked amazing. Kyle McLaughlin. Uh-huh. And Aaliyah Shawkat. Yeah. Who I love. Yeah. So, I mean. Yeah. There was some. The way it was filmed was really good.

[00:14:29] And then, like, you start off in this sort of, you know, just a movie. And then you go into Paradise. And then you start seeing the breakdown. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm not going to give it all away. Because it's. I think it's worth the watch. Yeah. It's just you kind of leave the movie going, what the fuck? You know what I mean? Yeah. I was like, as the movie progresses, you're kind of like trying.

[00:14:58] Then you start trying to figure things out on what's going on. Right. You know what I mean? Yeah. And all I'm saying is, like, as the movie progresses. Like, anyway. Janie Sandem's this rich guy. Just briefly. Yeah. And all these women get invited back to his. This Paradise style mansion. Yeah. Freaking. I don't know.

[00:15:28] Private Island or some shit. Correct. Yeah. In like somewhere south of the border. You know what I mean? Not in Mexico. In the Caribbean. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. You know what I mean? And it's like Shangri-La. They're drinking. They're smoking. They're doing drugs. They're eating these fantastic. I mean, he's a billionaire. Right. And then it just. That's all I'll say. And as the movie goes. As the movie goes on each day.

[00:15:55] The girls just seem to look a little bit more haggard each day. Yeah. And then you think. Oh, well, they're drinking all the time. Yeah. Yeah. It's fucked up. Once things start unveiling themselves. Yeah. And the end is complete. Not the end of the movie, but the buildup. Yeah. Is completely worth it. Yeah. Completely worth it. Okay. Like what happens is like, whoa.

[00:16:25] Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. Okay. I'm glad I didn't watch it with Elle. Yeah. That is. And even. There's even a thing on the beginning of it. Yeah. That says. Some scenes. You know, I'm like. What? It just absolutely goes. That shit crazy. Yeah. When things start being revealed. Yeah.

[00:16:54] But Geena Davis looked amazing. I couldn't even believe it. She's got to be near 75. At least. No. I don't think she's. Oh, no, man. She was like in her 30s when she made Beetlejuice, bro. Yeah. Um. I swear she was. Looking up Geena Davis's age.

[00:17:24] Yeah, I am. She was born in 56.

[00:17:55] She's about 70. Yeah. 71. Yeah. But she looked great. Yeah. Her acting was off the park, too. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like the acting was really well done. On all of it. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah. All the people in it really acted very well. Especially Christian Slater. Yeah. I just couldn't believe what I was watching. Right.

[00:18:24] At one point, I was like. I liked that release. I was like. What the? Uh. What is happening? Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. I just couldn't believe. And he was kind of weird. But I get it. But. I just. It blew my mind. Yeah. Blew. My. Mind. Yeah. And I was like. And it was dragging it at one point. I'm like. This is getting. Now. I might turn this off. Yeah. You know?

[00:18:54] Because it was just going nowhere. I'm like. What is. Day three of the party. Yeah. And then finally things started. Right. Getting strange. Right. So anyway. Yeah. That was. I think that's it. I think that's all I watched. Yeah. I think that's it. I did watch The Night Agent. Season two. How was that? Very good. Is it? Yeah.

[00:19:25] Highly recommend it. Okay. As good as season one. It wasn't good. Yeah. Because that was a good series. It was. It was very good. I liked. I liked season two a lot. There's a lot of. A lot of good twists and turns. Good action. I mean. I guess. I mean. It lives up to season one. I got it. I was very happy with it. Right. Like. Look forward to season three. Oh yeah? Yeah.

[00:19:56] Nice. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to delve too much into it. Because you haven't seen it. Yeah. Don't tell me. Because I really want to. I really want to watch it. Yeah. That's something. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's it for me. I had. So two weeks ago. When I came to your house. Okay. To record. You know. For. Dinner and a podcast. Um.

[00:20:26] I stopped. To check my oil. Because with my car. I'm sure I've discussed this. But I. You know. It's a. 2017 Kia Soul. The. The. The engines in those cars. The GDI engines. Are known. They're notorious. For burning oil. For burning oil. Yeah. So. Because of that. I. I try to check it regularly. And I hadn't checked it in a while. So. Hmm. I fired up the car. But as I was leaving. To go to your house. I stopped.

[00:20:55] On a PNC bank. And I. Just pulled in. And I checked my oil. It was about a quart low. So I put a quart in. Uh. And then I came to your house. And as I'm driving to your house. I'm like. My car sounds funny. Okay. Like this isn't. Something's not right here. Hmm. I don't understand. And. And. When I got to your house. Recorded a show. And when I was leaving. When I fired up the car. I left my door open. And I was like. I got a hole in my exhaust. Oh shit.

[00:21:26] That's what it sounded like. Hmm. Like I got a fucking hole in my exhaust. Okay. Great. So. At the time. There was snow on the ground. Hmm. So I couldn't really get under the car. To like. Look at it. Right. So. And I don't drive. Like I mean. Sunday. Like the next day. I drove it to the laundromat and home. Like that was it. Yeah. You know. And then. I didn't drive it all week. Until. You know. I went shopping. And you know. Like.

[00:21:55] So I don't drive the car. That much. To begin with. But also. Just the fact. Like I just. It was. You know. With the snow on the ground. And everything. You just couldn't get underneath it. Right. Well. The. We've had a break in the weather. The snows. Melted away. Hmm. So. I got under the car. Um. Thursday. Yeah. And I'm like. Okay. Well. That's. That little second is where the problem is. I'm not quite sure. Like. I couldn't see a hole.

[00:22:25] Like. But it did look like. It was like something was connected to the muffler. That looked like it had like. Disconnected or something. I wasn't quite sure. But I'm like. I think that's the problem. I'm not quite sure. So. Nancy's gentleman suitor. Mike came over. Yesterday. He's under the car. And he's. He's. He's. He's much more. He's a mechanic. He. Or he's mechanically inclined. You know. But he's done mechanic work. So he's like. He knows what the fuck he's doing. And he gets underneath it. And he's.

[00:22:55] Puttering around. And he's like. I can't find a hole to save my life. Hmm. I don't know if it's on top of something. Yeah. I can't find a hole. And he's like. Me. It's. And then he got. Had me like. Revening. It sounds like it's up front. Which I'm like. Now. Is that the catalytic converter? Yeah. Which I'm like. If that's a cat. I'm fucked. Yeah. Yeah. He's like. Let's pop the trunk. Or the hood. And let's see what's going on. See what we can see. I pop the hood. And 10 seconds after he lifts the hood. I'm like. Oh.

[00:23:24] I see the problem. My dumb ass forgot to tighten up the. The oil fill cap. And it's flopping around. Nice. Good one. Yeah. Luckily. I didn't lose much if any oil. Yeah. But still. Like. The amazing thing is. I've gone from like. What I thought was going to be. A couple hundred dollars. To fix. To you know. Now nothing. So that's. That's a blessing. But still. It's like.

[00:23:54] That's that thing. Like. Oh. That pisses me off. Because it's. It's the dumbest fucking thing in the world. You know. Like. How do you do that. You dumb ass. He's old. Old and forgetful. Yes. That's me. Old and forgetful. So yeah. That was. That was annoying. My bad. Huh.

[00:24:25] So let's move on to. Some news. Okay. I don't know if you saw this. But last weekend. It was announced. The Monroeville Mall had been sold. Okay. To a. You know. A new. Company to. Operate it. But. The company's name was not known. Nobody knew who bought the mall. Like. Just that it was. Purchased. By whoever owned it previously. Well. It turns out it was bought by Walmart. Really?

[00:24:56] Yeah. Interesting. And they. They've. Wow. Yeah. That's weird. Okay. So CBO Properties announced last week. And it sold them all for 34 million in cash. Like. Cash money. That's not. Like. Think about that. Like. No payments. Like. Like. Walmart's just like. Yeah. We've got like. Ten bags of hundred dollar bills.

[00:25:26] Yeah. Wow. And. But they. So because it was sold for cash. They didn't have to disclose who the payer was. Or the buyer was. Mm. Um. But apparently. Walmart has come out and said that they've purchased Monroeville mall. Um. Now they've hired a. A company. To kind of like.

[00:25:54] Look at the mall. And determine what kind of redevelopment. Or. What prop. What. Potential the property has for whatever. Sure. Now. I mean. There's. Speculation running wild. Yeah. Excuse me. About. They're just going to rip it down and put in a Walmart. Mm. Which. Makes no sense. Yeah.

[00:26:23] Because the property's so fucking big. Yeah. I mean. Don't feel like. So. I mean. When we're talking about. Like. We're not just talking about the mall itself. We're talking about the parcel of land. Yeah. So like. Where. Best Buy is. That's. Yeah. They lease that. Piece of property. From. Right. Well not Walmart. Yeah. There's also like the. Behind. Behind the mall. There's like the. Annex. The annex. With all like the. Mm.

[00:26:52] The guitar center. And there's a. The go cart place. Yeah. Like. There's a number of. Of. Businesses. Back there. I know. They just built that. I think it's a. A veteran center. Mm. Um. On the property. And then. Yeah. Yeah. Veteran centers. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then there's a. That. Goodyear tire. Mm. I guess. There's a.

[00:27:22] It's more than just the mall itself. When you look at it. There is a large parcel of property with other. Businesses. Yeah. Like. You know. There's a lot going on with this. This piece of land. Yeah. The other thing that. You know. You'll find out. It's like. Well. What are they going to tear out to put in a Walmart? Well. A number of these. Cinemark has a 20 year lease. Yeah. Like if you're going to break that lease. Then.

[00:27:50] You're going to be paying millions of dollars of Cinemark. You know. For that. Yeah. I. JCPenney has a 20 year lease. Like. I'm trying. Macy's has a. Has a long. Like. Like. They're. They're. They're kind of. Like. The mall is set up. Like. Where the anchors are. Are there for a long duration. Yeah. You know what I mean? So. It's. Like. The speculation is. Is running rampant on what. Can or will be done.

[00:28:20] By Walmart with the property. Yeah. Like. I guess my. My first question is like. Like. For. And that's. That's. That's make something well known here. In the. In Monroeville. They do not have a Walmart. They do not. They don't. The closest one would be North for sales. Right. Or I believe there's one. In Penn Hills. Right. You know. But there's not. Like. And Monroeville. Like. For those of you who don't live in this area. Like. Monroeville. Is. Like. Mostly.

[00:28:50] It's like a. A five mile strip of. Businesses. Businesses. Yeah. You know. There. You know. There's. Miracle Mile Shopping Center. There. You know. There's. Just. Businesses and restaurants lined. The whole way down Route 22. To Monroeville Mall. There. Penn Center. Where I used to work. Yeah. Um. So there's a. A bunch of. It just.

[00:29:19] It is just a. A litany of businesses. Shopping. Um. Restaurants. Like. You. You name it. It's become. You know. It. It's like. I always consider. Like. Second fiddle. To like. South Hills. Village. And. Like. Robinson. Yeah. Like. If you're getting something new. Like. It's usually. You're going to go to South Hills Village.

[00:29:49] Or it's going to go to Robinson first. Right. And then. Like. The third place. It's going to go. Is like. Monroeville. Like. When. Sabine. Red. Like. Or. Or like. Like. Some place signature. Like. Like. Wahlberg's. When they moved in here. Like. Like. They went to Robinson. Yeah. Mike Ditka has a restaurant in Robinson. Like. You know. A lot in Robinson. Yeah. There's a lot in Robinson. Like. There's a lot of stuff. Like. You don't find anywhere else in Pittsburgh. It's like.

[00:30:19] But. Like. It's a national brand. Right. You know what I mean? Um. And Monroeville's like. Like. The second tier of that. Right. Like. There's a lot of stuff. Like. You find in. It's a little bit more common. But. Like. They started in Monroeville first. Yeah. Or. Like. After they left. After like. Robinson. And South Hills. Village. Yeah. Like. Chipotle. Yeah. Like. The first Chipotle I ever saw was in Robbins. It was in. Not Robbins. It was in Monroeville. Like. Stuff like that.

[00:30:49] So. Like. There's a mission barbecue in Monroeville. There's a lot of shit in Monroeville. There's. There's a lot of shit in Monroeville. And they're always looking for ways to. To redevelop the land in Monroeville. Yeah. Like. They did that. In that. Where they put like. That. That mission barbecue. Like. That was like. A giant vacant lot. Right. They. Completely redeveloped them. And put that shopping in. Yeah. Um. So. Like. Monroeville mall. Which also.

[00:31:19] For horror buffs. Is where. Yeah. Dawn of the Dead was filmed. Mm-hmm. Um. The original Dawn of the Dead. Not the. Not the Zack Snyder remake. Yeah. To be clear. But um. So like. Like. There's a part of me that's like. Man. I'm afraid of what Walmart's going to do. But there's a part of me that's excited about. What Walmart might be able to do. And there's also a part of me that's like. We need to make sure that that mall remains standing. As like a historical. Yeah.

[00:31:49] Like. To me like it is. It's a historical site. Yeah. Because. Just because. Like. Even though like the. The troll bridge. Is gone. And. You know. Stuff like that. Like it's still to me like. It's a historical site. Just because of like. The significance in. In Pittsburgh. Film. History. Yeah. Like. If I. As I'm telling you this. Like what are your thoughts. On. The situation. Well. I don't know. The 34 million cash. Is kind of crazy. It is.

[00:32:18] It seems like. Yeah. Like. Like. They drove up in an SUV. Just filled with like. Like. Equipment bags. Filled with hundred dollar bills. And like black bags. Yeah. We'll take that mall off your hands. Weird transaction. Yeah. Why did Walmart want to keep it so secret? Well. I mean. They didn't. Like. It was just like. Like. I guess the. Whoever owned the property before. Just didn't disclose. Like. They didn't have to. Like. Yeah. Somebody paid us cash for this. Don't worry about who. Yeah. Yeah. And like. It was like two days later. The Walmart came out. Like. Yeah. We bought Monroeville Mall. We own it now.

[00:32:49] So. It wasn't like this like big secret. That like. Somebody uncovered. Walmart came out like two days later. And I was like. Yeah. We bought the mall. It is. For. For. It's the first mall that they've ever bought. Yeah. Is what everybody understands. From what I've read and everything. This is. This is the first time Walmart has actually bought a mall. Uh huh. So. Like. I know there are. Like. I've read where they say that there are malls that do have Walmarts in them. Mm. They're like two stories. Like. Like. I remember like. I think Dick's was that way. Mm.

[00:33:19] Um. You know. But there are. So. But it's like. It's not impressive to have a Walmart in a mall. But. It's unprecedented for Walmart to own a mall. Right. Well it's like. You know. South Hills. No. South Hills Village. There's a target within that mall. Yeah. It's at one of the anchors. Yeah. Yeah. That Dick's is. Is it still open? I don't know.

[00:33:49] Because that's a huge store. Well. Because I know the one in the back. Became a. Going. Going. Which was like. Dick's is like. Discount. Yeah. Yeah. But. I didn't know if the Dick's in. Central. In Monroeville was still there. I don't know. It's been a while since I've. Yeah. But that's a huge store. Because that used to be the old Kaufman's. Yeah. But it's massive. Yeah. Inside. Yeah. It's just massive. Yeah.

[00:34:18] I don't know what they're going to do with that mall. I mean. It's fading. Right. But like. Like. The interesting thing becomes like. Okay. So what can Walmart do to revitalize it then? Do that. Is the convention center. Old convention center. Part of that too? Um. I think so. I. I. I. I think it is. Because. Because I. Because I think.

[00:34:49] I don't know. That's weird. I don't know. If it is or not. I. I mean. What I know is. CVS help. Health. Basically. Operates. Out of that complete thing. Yeah. Because that's where their. Specialty farm. One of their specialty pharmacies is. So there's a lot of like. Mail order stuff. Coming out of there. I know they have a call center in there. I. Like they have. Two call centers in there. Yeah. Inside information.

[00:35:18] Um. So I. I know. Like they. There's a bunch of stuff. That CVS health does. In what once was the Monroeville Expo Mart. Yeah. Um. But I don't know if that's considered. Part of the mall property or not. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. We'll have to look it up sometime. Yeah. Because it gets weird with that. And like. And the hotel.

[00:35:48] And then. The Monroeville Convention Center. Because they're all connected. Yeah. Like the Expo Mart. The Convention Center. And the hotel. Are kind of like. All on like the same. Like. The same plot of. Of land. Right. And so like. I would get emails. I still do. Like. You know. There's going to be a convention this weekend. So parking on the east side. Will be limited. Yeah. You know. Make sure you get to work earlier. For parking.

[00:36:19] You know. It would get shit like that. Yeah. Man. Um. So. Like. I know that that's. All connected. But I don't know if it's all part of the mall. Property. Mm. Because I mean. I think technically the. The hotel. Went up for sale. It did. So I. But it wasn't sold. Like. And it was bought by somebody else. So it wasn't. So it's not like. Like. Like the property is owned.

[00:36:49] Like. I guess. I don't know. That's where it gets weird and fuzzy. Because it's all. So interconnected. Right. Like Century 3 mall. Had like. Clear guidelines of like. All right. This is the mall. And this is not. Like. As far as the property went. Right. And Monroeville mall. Is kind of different. Because there. There are. A lot of things. Like. Look like they're on mall property. But they're not. I mean. They just did that expansion.

[00:37:19] 20 years ago. Out front. Out front. Where they've got. Barnes and Noble. And they've got. Red Robin. You know. Ulta. And you know. All that type of. Of stuff. Like that outside shopping area. Yeah. So. Like. Yeah. I mean. I'm very. I'm very interested to see like. Over the next. Five to ten years. What is Walmart going to do. With the property. As a whole. And the mall in particular. Right.

[00:37:50] I have no idea. I mean. It'll. Expensive as hell. To demolish that mall. Yeah. Probably over 34 million dollars. You know what I'm saying. Right. I don't know. It's weird. But like. Unlike Century 3. Like. The problem with Century 3. The reason it has to be demolished. Is because it sat vacant. For like five years.

[00:38:21] Like. They. They were forcing people out. Yeah. You know. Like you were reaching a point. In that mall. Where it was like. They were closing off. Sections of it. Like the food court. There was nothing left. Yeah. Like they had. Shuttered everything up there. Like. So like. But. You reached a point. With Century 3. Mall. Where it was like. It was like. JCPenney. And like. Five other stores. Yeah. You know. And they eventually just said.

[00:38:51] Fuck it. We're just shutting it down. Yeah. And then it sat. Empty for. However. Yeah. But I think the real problem. With the mall. Was the slag. Yeah. I mean. Yeah. The biggest problem. Was the slag. And everything was kind of caving in. Around it. Yeah. But. The slag. Had started to break down. After 50 years. Or whatever. I mean. You couldn't. The parking levels. Were not right. Yeah. I mean. There were 101 problems. With that mall. But. I'm just like.

[00:39:20] The reason it's being demolished. Is because you. You let it deteriorate. To a point that was unsavable. Yeah. Monroeville mall is nowhere near that. No. It's not. No. I mean. Like. Yes. You can go in there. And there. In most days. The shopping is light. And. You can watch drug deals go down. You know. Like. I mean. Yeah. There. But. You can all. But also. If you look around that mall.

[00:39:51] I. I would say. 80% of the storefronts. Are in use. Yeah. You know. Like. They don't. They don't have. Empty storefronts. No. They do. They do. Yes. But I'm just saying. Like. Not as many. Right. As you was. Like. Like. Like. We're saying. You know. It's. It's. The malls are dying. But yet. You know. That mall has done a pretty good job. Of staying. Yeah. Viable. Right. You know. Like. The. The. The kiosks in the center.

[00:40:21] Are. Are all. Are mostly in use. I mean. I've been. It's like that all over though. I mean. I've. Been to different malls. In different. You know. States. And stuff like that. And. It seems like the one in Winston. Is going down too. Yeah. Uh. And that was a huge mall. I'm talking. Huge. Yeah. Bigger than three. I mean. It was. Expansive. Yeah. Um. And that's going down.

[00:40:50] The one mall that I did like. That I didn't see going down. The one was the one. Uh. I went to the mall in Columbus. By Ohio State. Yeah. And that was. Hompeth. Yeah. I mean. There was. It looked like malls of yesteryear. Yeah. I mean. It was just. Crowded. You know what I mean. But. South Hills Village. Seems to be going down too. In a certain aspect. It's not what it once was. Like. I. I know. Well.

[00:41:20] The mall at Robinson. Mm. It's high end. Yeah. It is. Like. You go there. They have a Gucci store. They've got a Tesla. Store in there. They've. They've got. Yeah. You know. All these. High end brand. Like. You know. Like. Even like the barbershop. I remember. We went to. We went there. I've been there once. Mm. Because Nancy wanted to buy. An iPad. And I just remember like. Outside of the app.

[00:41:50] The Apple store. There was like this barbershop. And like the barbershop. Looked more expensive than anything. I would. Right. You know. I'd ever be able to afford. You know. Right. So. Like. It's. Like that mall. I. It's. That's for the person. Who wants to buy their high end goods. You're right. Like a regular mall. Hey. It. It dies out for two reasons. And one is this the same. The stuff you're going to buy. At that mall. You can also just get. At the convenience of getting from Amazon.

[00:42:20] For the most part. Right. And two. Kids suck. Yeah. It is. Like you. You hear. Two or three times a year. About the cops. Having to be called to the mall. Because of violence. And it's usually. Underage kids. And now they have like. Signs. Like underage kids. They're allowed to be there. After like 6 p.m. Without an adult supervising them. Yeah. Like underage kids. Aren't allowed to be running around. By themselves. After a certain time. At that mall. Yeah. Like they've.

[00:42:50] They're trying very hard. To crack down. But. One. Parents. Suck. You know. They. Because they just don't care. Like I'll just let my kid. You know. Fuck it. I'm going to go get myself an orange Julius. You do whatever the fuck you want. But two. Like they. When we were mall rats. We weren't going there to incite violence. We weren't looking for a fight. Nah. You know. We were looking to hit the arcade.

[00:43:18] And try to impress a girl with our. Our skills at Street Fighter. You know. Right. Like which. Didn't happen. But like. It was like your fantasy was like. You know. The girl in my dreams will see me. Playing Street Fighter. And we'll fall in love. And you know. Sure. Like it was. Like some bad 80s. Teen drama. But um. But that. I mean. That. That's what you did. And I mean. These kids now. I mean. They're going. They're looking. To cause a problem.

[00:43:48] And it sucks. Yeah. You know. So again. Like it goes. So they. We go back to like. Does Walmart. In a very weirdly. Does Walmart change that. Where they are a more high end. Like not. Like Walmart. It would be the weirdest thing in the world. If Walmart came in and said. Okay. We're using the. Robinson. Our um. The malt Robinson. Model. Mm.

[00:44:18] And we're going to go high end. Mm. We're going to bring in. Gucci. And we're going to bring it. Because it. It's not in this area. And we. Like. I mean. There's a Range Rover dealership. There's a Porsche dealership. Like. There's enough money in Monroeville. You could invite high end. Sure. You know. So Walmart. Who's known for their cheap products. Yeah. It. Buys a mall. And turns it into a. A high end. Like. Store.

[00:44:48] Storefront. Right. You know. We. We want. Gucci. And Chanel. And. You know. All. All this. Tiffany's. Tiffany's. Like all these high end. Right. Storefronts. And that chases the. The troublemaking kids away. Right. You know. I don't know. There's a lot. I. I have no doubt that. You know. I mean. Walmart has a plan. Or they're making a plan.

[00:45:18] Yeah. That. I. Because. I mean. That's face facts. Walmart. Is still. Like. In the age of Amazon. They are still. The kings. Yeah. You know what I mean. Like. That. They are still somehow. On top. Because. I mean. Of what they do. It's a. It's an amazing. Right. How they. Like.

[00:45:47] They've managed to stay. Not only irrelevant. But. Near the top. Right. By. Sometimes chasing. But constantly changing. With the times. Right. You know. Like. They. They. They. They invented. Or introduced. First. The whole. Concept of. You know. Having somebody. Bring your shit out. To your car for you. Yeah. You know. You just. You order it online. You pull up.

[00:46:16] They put it in. Yeah. You know. You know. They're. They're very big on. You know. Walmart home delivery. Yeah. Like. That's how my parents grocery shop. Yeah. Like. They. They have Walmart delivered to their house. Right. You know. And. It's. It's. So that they. They have. Kind of. Rolled with the times. And change. Unlike. So many others. Right. Who have fallen by the wayside. Like. Like. Like. Kmart. Like Sears.

[00:46:46] You know. Target. Kind of done the same thing. Right. You know. Like. There's a reason why those two are still standing in this age of. Of Amazon. And. Temu. And. You know. All these. Other places you can. Order your shit from. They're. They're still viable. So I got. I have no doubt. Whatever they're going to do with the mall. Is going to make it. Better. In the marketplace. Right. I just. I'm curious to see what they do to.

[00:47:16] To reach that. Right. Hmm. I don't know. Maybe they. I have no idea. Yeah. Like. I can't. They may just fucking flatten and put a Walmart in there. Isn't. I think there's a Walmart. Murray's. Right. I don't know. I mean. I'm pretty sure. Like. I mean. I mean. They're. They're surrounded by Walmart. But there's no Walmart there. Yeah. I swear. There's a Walmart down.

[00:47:46] On 22. There probably is. Like. I wouldn't doubt it. Yeah. But like I said. Like. It just. It seems like. It's odd. That there's not one there. Of all the places. Yeah. You know. Yeah. I'm thinking. What would be the benefit of that Walmart there. Yeah. I mean. I guess people from Penn Hills and Churchill. Can you go there. I don't think there's a Walmart in Penn Hills. I know there's one.

[00:48:16] Maybe it's in Plum. I don't know. I'm fairly certain there's one out that way. I just don't know where. Yeah. I'm sure. Somebody will. Will be correcting us. But. Yeah. I. I find it interesting. Like. I can see them like ripping out. Like that back area. And putting in a Walmart back there. Right. Um. But I just. I. I don't. Like. It's a very.

[00:48:46] It's going to be very interesting to see like how. How everything gets handled. I'm intrigued to see where this all goes. There's a Walmart. Past. Delmont. Okay. Which is. Out 22. Yeah. Past Murray's film. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Greensburg. Maybe you're right. Yeah. There's nothing out there.

[00:49:16] Yeah. Like it is. It's. I know they have a Sam's Club out there. That the Sam's Club is down by. Yeah. Across from Kohl's. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. North Huntington. I mean. I know that's not close. But. No. But like for people who live in Monroeville. Like it's. It's. It's like. There isn't a neighborhood Walmart. Quote unquote. You know. Yeah. There's one in Delmont. Yeah. North for sales.

[00:49:47] Like I said. Yeah. Interesting. So. Ligonier. Ligonier. Ligonier. So. Here is something interesting. I hope you saw this. The. The first trailer for the fantastic. They did not. You did not. Okay. Well. Let me pause as you. Watch this. All right. All right.

[00:50:16] So you've just watched the trailer for the first time. I need your initial thoughts. Who is the old man? He looks like the wizard from Kroll. Nobody knows yet. Okay. They haven't announced who that is. Just. You know. John Malkovich. Yeah. My guess is it's got to be Sue Storm's dad. Maybe. Yeah. It looks good. I don't like Ben's voice. That was my initial gut reaction. Yeah. It's not.

[00:50:48] It's not what you imagine. The accent's not there. Yeah. Like. I like the look of him. Yeah. I think he looks phenomenal. So do I. Thing looks amazing. He does. I think he looks fantastic. Yeah. I just. It's not. Translating from the comic to the screen to me. Just the voice. Just the voice. But the look of him looks good. Yeah. I like what they've done. I think. I think you can get over the voice. Because.

[00:51:18] I mean. Johnny Flame's going to be Johnny Flame. He's going to look the same CGI. There's not. There's not much you can do differently to Johnny Flame. He's always going to be. Right. First. But. Sue Storm looked good. And. And. And. I didn't see him stretch at all. During the whole thing. That's what everybody's pointed out. Is you have not seen him stretch yet. Yeah. So. Um. I mean he's going to. Yeah. But. But. I haven't seen him stretch out yet. Yeah. Maybe they're keeping that away. Like maybe they're still. Because it's going to look weird when people first see it.

[00:51:48] Well. I mean. I think the biggest problem is. Has always been when you look at those movies. Like anytime you have somebody who does that stretch. Right. It looks awful. Yeah. Like. It. Even in. Um. Doctor Strange. The stretching still. Didn't look good. No. I agree. You know. You know. As much as I enjoy that movie. Like. That. That's just something where it's like. Like. Marvel has to still be working on that.

[00:52:18] That's why you didn't see him stretching. Because. They're still working on trying to make that right. Yeah. Right now. You know. I like how the world's established. Yeah. Already. Um. They've been around. Yeah. Of what's going on. I don't know. That was some multiverse going on in the background. At one scene. Or something. Um. Because they got to bring him in somehow. Right. Um. The. Um. And that was evident by the kids with the masks. And stuff like that. They were.

[00:52:47] They're already established. They are. They're already a superhero group. That is known. Right. We're not being an origin story. In the traditional sense. We're probably going to get five minutes. Of like. This is how this happened. And now we're moving on. Correct. And while they kind of did that. Almost in the trailer. Ben has always been the rock. Yeah. You know. She kind of explained things. Right. But. But like. I think the thing is. Like. That first trip in the space. That Reed's talking about. Like. We don't need to go back. It's just going to be a little flashback. Right. That's what I'm thinking too.

[00:53:17] And then. Yes. The Fantastic Four. Obviously established. Yes. Like you said. Seeing the kids with the Halloween masks. Right. And everything. Like. So. But Ben in the. Ben in the trench coat looked amazing. Yeah. But. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. He looked really good. That's. Now that translated. Very well. Right. But when he opens his mouth. I'm not hearing that. New York accent. Yeah. It's clobbering time. You know what I mean? Like. I'm not.

[00:53:46] And maybe we don't need that. Maybe that's something new. That we don't need. And maybe I should feel. Good that we don't have it. You know what I mean? I agree. Like. I guess. Maybe he was. It's been typecasted so much. Right. You know what I mean? Like. You know. Wolverine didn't have a lot. Hugh Jackman didn't do a lot of the Wolverine stuff. Yeah. That he does in the comic. And that started coming out a little bit later. Yeah. Or they'd throw a little piece. Like. He'd say bub every once in a while. Yeah. You know what I mean?

[00:54:16] Right. No. I agree. Like. My. My. My. My feeling on the voice is like. I. I agree. Because like. I think. We've been trained over the years. That it's a gruff sounding. Brooklyn accent. Mm-hmm. And. All the way up to like. Michael Chiklis. Right. In the. The two Fantastic Four movies. Yeah. Yeah. And. Michael. Like. To me. Like. Michael Chiklis. The only one that got it right. In those two movies. Right. Yeah. Like. Everybody else was like. That's.

[00:54:46] Not. Right. You know. I mean. Ian Groff came close as. As Reed Richards. But. Not close enough. Yeah. But. Chiklis was like. And. Whatever that abomination was. In the. That remake of the Fantastic Four. We. We will never speak of. Ooh. Motherfucker wasn't even wearing. Pants. I. I.

[00:55:15] Put some pants on them rocks. But. But like. Like. I. So like. I'm not like. I. I. At. My first viewing of the trailer. I was like. Oh. That's not Ben. No. But like. As I watched it. Two. Three. Four. Five times. To kind of like. Take it in. I was like. I kind of got over it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Maybe like. As I'm watching a movie. Like maybe the first ten minutes. I'm going to be like. Oh. That's. That's not Ben. Much like I was with like. So like. Oh.

[00:55:45] That's not Han Solo. Right. You know. But. After like a few minutes. Like. Okay. Yeah. It is Han Solo. I'm in. You know. Like. Maybe it will be the same way with this. So. Yeah. Maybe. Yeah. It just wasn't. Yeah. It just wasn't that. You know. It's clobbering time. Yeah. You know. I wanted to hear. Yeah. Read. You know what I mean? I want to hear. I want to hear that gruff. Brooklyn. Yeah. Yeah. Ben.

[00:56:15] But you know. Maybe they're going a different direction with him. I mean like. Maybe he's not. You know. It's. The dumb idiot. You know what I mean? Like. Right. That's the way they portray him. The meathead. The meathead. Yeah. You know. Much smarter than. Yeah. You know. More of a pilot. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. So maybe they're going. And I'm okay with that. Yeah. Um.

[00:56:45] You got to throw in a clobbering time though. I'm sure that that. I mean. I'm sure that it's going to be in the movie. Yeah. Like. Unless they. I can't imagine them going like. 10 years without having a. You know. Cap say Avengers Assemble. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Yeah. But when you got Avengers Assemble. Boy was it worth it. Oh boy. You know. Yeah. But I can't imagine them going like. Yeah. We're going to wait 10 years. To you say clobbering time. Like I. Nobody's going to stand for that. You know. Um. The motherfucker may be saying it in the third reel.

[00:57:15] Like. When we get to the big fight at the end. I better hear a motherfucker clobbering time. I'm taking my pants off with this one. Yeah. You know. I also love the. Herbie's in this. Yeah. Like. I thought that was a nice touch. Yeah. Yeah. You know. Agreed. I agree. Yeah. It looks pretty good. Um. We'll see. I'm. What did you think. I mean. There's the big guy. Like.

[00:57:45] You see the shadow. Yeah. You see. You know. There's a. There's a Galactus. Yeah. I'm okay. I thought it was cool. There better be a surfer. There is. But it's a female surfer. Why? I do not understand. Like. Some things I get. Right. Would you make a female Wolverine? I do it. In X-23. Would you make a female Wolverine?

[00:58:15] Well. Here's the thing though. Like. Origin Wolverine. Would you make a female. Or. Would you. Recomplete. The whole thing. And do a female Wolverine? No. But. At the same time. You. You. There has been a female surfer. Yeah. I know. I. This isn't a gender thing with me. Right. It's just. I want to see surfer on screen. Right. No. I understand that. Right. I mean. She may be great. But is it surfer? You know what I mean? Right. That makes her look like. You know.

[00:58:44] The chick dancing in front of Jabba the Hutt. You know what I'm saying? Like. It doesn't. Translate to me. Right. Like. What's she? Damn. I just want another Hawkeye series. I'm just kidding.

[00:59:14] Don't we all? Um. So yeah. I mean. Like. There is going to be a Herald of Galactus. It is going to be a surfer. But it's a. A. A woman surfer. Who. Is in the comic book history. I think. I think. I think Shala Ball was. Um. The original Silver Surfer's like. Fiancee or some shit. I don't know. Like. And like. After he turned. I think Galactus went back. And like. Plucked her. Oh. Okay. You know. Well. If you won't do it. She will. You know. So. Yeah. I think. I don't remember.

[00:59:44] Completely. Because I'm sure again. Some. Somebody will be like. You got this all wrong. Asshole. And that's. But I. I somehow recall that being the case. I could be wrong. Right. Um. So yeah. I mean. There is going to. But there will be a surfer. So we will get the Herald of Galactus. Which. At first. I was like. Yeah. I need a surfer. You know. I needed a Herald of Galactus. Yeah. Yeah. And. But. Like I.

[01:00:15] Very weirdly. Like. I mean. I'm excited for the movie. The thing that drove me nuts. Is like. Of course. Because this comes out. Two weeks after Superman does. Okay. And of course. Everybody's like. Oh. This is going to kill Superman. Or Superman won't make it. I don't think so. Why can't we enjoy both? Yeah. Like. Please. Right. Both of these movies can exist. Yeah.

[01:00:45] I agree. Yeah. Who did you say was the person? Shala Ball. Set to join Marvel Universe. The Fantastic Four. First steps. Julia Garner will bring the surfer to the big screen. Yeah. The character's name is Shala Ball. Oh yeah. That's right. Sorry. Yeah. Sorry. That's okay. I don't know much Fantastic Four. I know some. But. Yeah. Not all. Or I wouldn't even say 70% of them.

[01:01:15] Fantastic Four wasn't a comic that I read. It was an older comic. You know what I'm saying. Yeah. Yeah. So. Shala Ball is a Marvel Comics character and the immortal Empress of Zen La. She is also the lover of Norrin Rad the Silver Surfer. When threat. When Galactus threatens the devourer Lin Sha. Shala Ball bargains with him.

[01:01:45] And becomes his herald in exchange for sharing. Sparing her planet. Galactus agrees and transforms her into Star Glow. Erasing her memories to prevent. A similar situation from the one he had with the Silver Surfer. Yeah. He also creates a barrier around Lin Sha to keep the Surfer away. Nice. So yeah. Dar you go. Huh. Natasha Lyons in it too.

[01:02:15] Interesting. Yeah. I'm just interested to see like how they fit this in. Because it does look multiversal. It does look different. Like it seems. Again it's that odd thing. It seems like. Like Tony Stark would have mentioned this. Yeah. Like in all the stuff that we've kind of seen. Over the years. Like. It seems like somehow. The. The.

[01:02:45] The Fantastic Four would have come up. Right. Like somebody would have said like. Oh you like the Fantastic Four. You know. Right. Like. So it's that odd thing of like. How do you. How do you kind of. Fit this in. Is it like a multiversal thing. It has to be multiversal. Because. Yeah. I mean it has to be multiversal. Because Robert Downey Jr. Is. Yeah. He's Doom. Right. But he's not in this. Supposed. I mean.

[01:03:15] Well. Right. I'm sure there's going to be. But like Robert Downey Jr. Is also playing a Doom from like another multiverse. I would imagine. Or is he playing the Doom from this multiverse. I don't know. Like. Yeah. I mean. Like. There's so many questions. That's what I mean. Yeah. Is he going to play Doom in this multiverse. Is there going to be a clip at the end. With Robert Downey Jr. As Doom. Right. Because something as big and powerful as Galactus. Is going to attract Doom. Right. I agree. To harness the energy. Right. But at the same time. Like.

[01:03:45] Or do you make it. Like. Howard Stark. Like. You know. Like. Like. This is how. And. Robert Downey Jr.'s. Doom. Like. Is continuing. Doing the research later on. Like. I don't know. Like. I mean. Or how is it going to portray. Yeah. As. I don't know how fans are going to take him being bad. And being Doom. Well.

[01:04:15] Without the Iron Man. But that's the thing. Like. Do you make it. Like. This is a multiverse. Where Iron Man went bad. Yeah. And this is what he became. Right. Yeah. Like. I mean. It. It's very. Like. As exciting as it is. Like. Okay. RDJ's back. But he's. He's Doctor Doom. That doesn't make any sense. I don't understand. Well. There was a. Like. There was a comic where he did. But like. It's all very. Very weird. It's all very vague. Yeah. But that.

[01:04:45] But that's a good thing. Because. We don't know what's going to happen. Right. Like. I don't. Like. I like speculating. I like trying to figure it out. But I don't want to know. Yeah. You know. Unlike some of us who listen to this podcast. Yeah. So. Like. Thad. Like. Me and Nancy were talking about that. Like. It's like. It was like. Nancy asked. Like. Because I said like. Spoilers to something. It was like a movie. It was like. 10 years old.

[01:05:15] And she's like. Well. What. When. When can you. When is it not a spoiler? Like. And I was like. I think after it's been out for 10 or 20 years. Like. At that point. You probably should have seen it. But Thad's like. I want to know beforehand. Like. I'm looking for. Thad actively seeks out spoilers. Okay. And. Like. There's a. I got. There's a part of me. It's like. Okay. You know. You do. You do. Whatever. I understand it. But there's also a part of me. It's like.

[01:05:46] You've lost the fun. Yeah. Like. To me. The fun of it. Is. Like. And maybe this is like. You lose. Maybe. To me at least. You lose the emotional connection. Right. To a moment. Like. Deep down. I knew. The snap.

[01:06:15] Worked. You know. Hulk snap worked. But still. That moment. Between. Cap. And Thanos. And you suddenly hear. You know. On your left. Mm. And then all the holes start to open up. And like. That was an emotional moment. Oh yeah. You know. I cried. Right. I sallied up. Yeah. You know. Freely admit it. You know. But. Like. If you know that's going to happen.

[01:06:46] If I've. If I've read. At this point in the movie. You know. Here's where all the. All. Everybody from every fucking movie shows up. Yeah. It's ruined. Like. I no longer have that emotional moment. That connection. That connection. Um. The greatest was Serenity. Yeah. Like. That. The moment where. River Tam. Tells her brother. It's my turn now. And she leaps through the door. Throws the medical pack.

[01:07:16] And shuts the door. I thought. That's it. Joss Whedon is killing everybody. Yeah. Everybody's going to die. I am a blubbering idiot. Yeah. At this moment. Yeah. Because I don't see how our heroes can survive this. You know. Yeah. And River Tam goes full River Tam. Yeah. You know. And it was like amazing. But I. If you spoiled that for me. Yeah. If you spoiled. Wash is death. Oh. Spoilers. Like. If you had spoiled that for me. That was brutal.

[01:07:46] It was. And it needed to be. For me to get the full emotional impact. If. That is spoiled. I don't have. The emotional impact of what that's meant to be. Yeah. To me. Maybe Thad is trying to avoid that emotional impact. Yeah. You know. I don't know. I mean. There are times where like. Yes. Having read the Lord of the Rings. I knew how each movie. Basically ended. Yeah. You know.

[01:08:16] But it's not spoiled. No. Because you're. Well it's different. It's a little bit different. Yeah. Like. Like Boromir's death. Yeah. In the movie. Yeah. Versus reading it. Right. Like. You know it's coming. Yeah. But. And you're expecting it. You know. You're expecting the emotional moment between. You know. Sam and Frodo. You know. Just throw the fucking ring in the fire. Yeah. You know. And everything gets involved with that. Like you know.

[01:08:46] Having read the book. I knew what was going to happen in that moment. But. Maybe that's the difference. Like. Maybe. Maybe that's where Thad comes from. It's like. I still got an emotional reaction. That. Probably not as deep as. Cap. Or. With Serenity. But I still had an emotional reaction to seeing it on the screen. Right. You know. I didn't cry. At that moment. No. You know. Nor did I cry for the seven other endings of the movie.

[01:09:17] Because I knew what each of them were. Right. You know. But. It was just. It was a thing of. I. So. Maybe that's it. Maybe Thad is just. There's emotion. But not as deep. Like. I. I don't know. But. There was a couple. I didn't get too upset in Rings. As I'm thinking back. Actually on Rings. The most emotional parts of Rings.

[01:09:46] Was probably. Boromir's death was. Yeah. Brutal. Yeah. And. At the end. When everybody bowed. Yeah. Yeah. That was pretty emotional. Right. Like. The scene where. Like. After. Frodo's had his finger bit off by Gollum. Mm. And Sam gets them out of the cavern. But they're like. They're on that rock. And the lava is surrounding them. Yeah. And the eagles come to save them. Like. There's like that moment. I'm like. You know. That's.

[01:10:16] That's a touch. You know. I'm right there. Yeah. Yeah. You know. But yeah. You're right. Like. You know. You bow to no man. Yeah. Like. That's just like. You know. That's cinema gold. Yeah. It is. As bad as that movie was. Cinema gold. It was. It was cinema gold. So like. I mean. Yeah. And like. I try to think like. Other movies. Were like. Like. Ready Player One. But they changed it so much. Yeah. From the book.

[01:10:47] That. The emotional response. Could still be there. But they. Like. They changed that. So fucking much. They did. Like. The. Like. So the emotional. Moments. Are different. Than they were. Reading it. Reading it. Yeah. And then. I'm. I'm trying to think like. Other. Things. Like. Like you knew.

[01:11:20] But there has been stuff. That's been spoiled for me. And it's pissed me off. Yeah. Like. Captain America. The. The Winter Soldier. Like. The internet. Like. Like. We don't want to spoil anything. But. Hell Hydra. Like. Motherfucker. Motherfucker. Like. You know. Like. Yeah. It did. It's. Like. I was like. Pissed. And like.

[01:11:50] So like. The reveal. Wasn't as impactful. Because I knew it was coming. Right. You know. I was like. Fuck. Mm-hmm. You know. As hard as you try to avoid spoilers. Sometimes you. Because I couldn't see that movie opening weekend. So like. Everything. We don't want to spoil it. But. Hell Hydra. Like. Motherfucker. You. Sons of bitches. You know. So. How. How are you with spoilers?

[01:12:20] Like. You. They bother you? The. Like. Do you. How hard do you try to avoid them? I don't. Purposely try to avoid them. But if I see something online about a movie that I want to see. I just go past it. Yeah. Like. I don't want to. I don't want to hear anything about. I don't want. I don't want to hear it. That's all. Yeah. Like. Some things like. You just can't. Avoid. Like. Yeah. You know. I'm scrolling through Twitter. And the next thing I know. Like. There's a spoiler. I didn't mean to see it. I wasn't looking for it. It just. It's there. I'm like. Mother.

[01:12:51] Fuck. Yeah. I think spoilers in our. I don't know. Like. I wouldn't want to. I'm glad there was no technology back then. It was just word of mouth. But. Can you imagine if. You heard the spoiler of. Darth Vader being Luke's father. Without seeing it on screen. Yeah. Oh. I would have sucked.

[01:13:20] I would have absolutely sucked. Yeah. But it would. It would change your view a little bit of the movie. And I was like. Yeah. I knew this was happening. But it's such an emotional. Like. Wreckage. At that moment. Yeah. Like. If you have no idea. Like. I don't think it's possible for somebody to watch that movie now. Who's never seen it. But. Not know what's going to happen. Right. Because it's such a part of pop lexicon. Yeah. Yeah. But at the same time. Like. Like. Not having that knowledge. And like. Being able to experience that for the first time. You're like.

[01:13:50] Holy shit. Yeah. Well. Experience the whole. Yeah. Frickin. Mental brain fuck. Of the end of. Empire Strikes Back. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. Luke gets his hand cut off. That's his daddy. Yeah. Soul is encrypted. Oh. I mean. Part of the reason I'm the jaded bastard I am today. Is because of that movie. Yeah. I mean. It just kind of left you off with Obi-Wan dying. And then right into Empire.

[01:14:20] Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. And that was. I mean. The whole thing is depressing. Yeah. I mean. It's. It's a depressing movie. Yeah. It's good. But. Oh. It's phenomenal. But it's just. It's very dark. Here's one of my favorites. My dad tells this story. He had a friend. Who like. He's like. Recommend movies to me. Let me get. Let me borrow movies off you have never heard of. Hmm. So my dad gives them from dusk till dawn.

[01:14:49] Guy had never heard of the fucking movie before. Knew nothing about the movie. So he's watching it. And clearly this is starting off as like a. A kidnap. Gangster. Tarantino style movie. That delves into a. Vampire movie all of a sudden. Yeah. The guy was like. I'm watching this movie. And I'm like. Okay. Yeah. Wow. This is interesting. What the fuck. Yeah.

[01:15:20] That movie blew his mind. Because it went from being one thing. To something completely different. Right. Right. You know what I mean. And. Like it's amazing. Like having never heard of the movie. Like even I would have known. Like going into that movie. Just because I saw the trailer. I like. Oh it's a vampire movie. Yeah. Like it's going to be a vampire movie at some point. Like you know. You just. You knew that was going to happen. Based upon the trailer. Or the. The sheer. Joy of experience. Of watching this movie.

[01:15:50] Turn itself on its head. For this man. Is something. I wish I could have experienced. Yeah. You know. Because. He was just like. I just thought it was an okay movie. Then all the fun. I got. I got fucking vampires. And shit. And so my high. Dancing around. Like oh. And only Tarantino could write a movie. Where she feeds him beer off of his feet. Off of her feet. Yeah. Yeah. You motherfucker. You foot fetish motherfucker. Not that we kink shit.

[01:16:20] But still. Right. You know. So I mean like. It's a. It's that thing of like. Like that. That's an amazing thing. Like. His absolute ignorance of the movie. Made it a better experience for him. Right. You know. And. That's what I try to have. With most movies. Like I reach a point with like movies I want to see. Where like. I'm. I don't even want to watch the trailers. I don't want to watch like. And then they start posting like. Here's a clip.

[01:16:49] A two minute clip from the movie. I don't want to see it. Yeah. I'm done. Yeah. I want to enjoy this in the theater at this point. You've. You've. You've sold me on the movie. You know. There's no need to show me anything else. I don't want to see anymore. No. I know. That's kind of like. I was a little bummed out. Not because. But. Because I waited so long. To watch it. Like Deadpool and Wolverine like was. All the cameos were spoiled. Yeah. You know. Like that.

[01:17:19] Like you couldn't avoid it at that point. You know. Yeah. So. It was good though. It was. It was still. I still enjoyed the shit out of it. But I think. There's that exciting moment. Like if I would have seen it in a theater. Like opening weekend. Where you pop. We're like. Oh shit. It's Electra. Oh shit. It's Blade. Oh shit. It's Remy LeBeau. Yeah. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Oh. Okay. You know.

[01:17:48] Like that would have been like a great. Like moment to experience. Without any prior knowledge. Yeah. I agree. But you're going to get it. Yeah. Like unless you're seeing it opening day. Yeah. You know. You're going to get the spoilers. Yeah. No matter. Like. No matter how hard you try. And like it just. They. And it was like. It wasn't even posts that were like. Meant. Were about dead porn Wolverine. It was like. Like people were taking that scene.

[01:18:18] Right. Where like. Ginnabit's like. Hoo boy. I've been waiting for this my whole life. You know. And Wolverine's like. I don't think you guys are going to make it out of this. You know. Like they were like. Like incorporating that. Like all sorts of like. Like. Non Wolverine. Deadpool stuff. Like. Just like cutting that scene into things. Yeah. Yeah. And it was like. Oh. That's fucking ruined. Yeah. But boy. Remy looks good. He did. I was pretty impressed by that. Yeah. Especially the fight scenes. Oh yeah.

[01:18:49] Yeah. Yeah. I mean. Wesley Snipes looked like he was going to have a stroke. But everybody else looked pretty good. Yeah. I mean. Wesley Snipes had a couple moments. But. Yeah. Fight scenes with Remy. Him charging. Oh yeah. Oh. Amazing. Using the staff. Using the cards. And I was like. That's right Marvel. Yeah. You know what I mean. Like. That's right Disney. You do it right.

[01:19:19] Yeah. Which makes me hope like someday they can do. And Deadpool. I mean. That shit was so bloody. Yeah. Yeah. That's like so off kilter for Disney. You know what I mean. Right. But that's what Ryan Reynolds fought for. Yeah. And boy. It paid off. Yeah. Like they'll probably never do it again. Even though I had. But. You've seen the trailer for. Daredevil.

[01:19:49] Well you can watch it. I'll watch it later. Yeah. But. Like it's that thing. Like you and I have talked about. Like. Man. It's Daredevil. They're bringing back Charlie Cox. You know. But it's still. It's Disney. I think. Other than dropping F-bombs. This is going to be just as fucking violent. As the. Oh really. The Netflix show. Good. Yeah. Like. They. I think they've. The only thing they've really done. Is they've tamed down the language. Mm-hmm.

[01:20:19] Because like even like. When you saw him in. Echo. Yeah. Like he shows up in Echo. For a scene. And like. Yeah. That's fucking Daredevil. Like that's the Daredevil from the show. Yeah. Yeah. You know. It. I. I don't see it like being like super tamed down. Good. Disneyfied. It looked. Good. I was like. Oh shit. Here we go. Yeah. I love how they just let Wolverine go.

[01:20:51] I think that was my biggest. Like. Sigh of relief. Yeah. At the end of that movie. I was like finally. Finally. They just let him go. Yeah. You know what I mean? Because I. I just felt like in almost every single movie. They held back on him. It was more about. It was more about. I. I wanted to. The first time I ever saw him. Run someone through with. The claw. Yeah. It was amazing. You know. Yeah. Who.

[01:21:19] What was the movie where he went up through the head? What? Logan. Was it Logan? Yeah. Yeah. And they were like beginning to like. That Logan was so good. Yeah. But. But. I felt like in. Deadpool. They were like. Just let him go in all his glory. I mean. The only thing I didn't see was a berserk mode. Like a true berserk mode. Yeah. But. But. I mean. The moment where he's like. On all fours. Like. Yeah. Like. I was like.

[01:21:50] Oh. Which for Hugh Jackman. Could not have been easy. He. That guy's like six foot one. Six foot two. Like. Yeah. That's the only thing with. With Wolfe. Like. Well. They showed the actual size of Wolfe. Yeah. But. Yeah. That's funny. I call it a fastball special. Because he's pretty much a fastball. Yeah. But. Like. Oh. You're comic accurate. Yeah. But. I mean. Especially charging into the Deadpools. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah.

[01:22:20] Yeah. Just. Going through the. The trance. The car. Yeah. You know? Yeah. The bus. Yeah. And just. That whole scene from the outside. Yeah. Unbelievable. The blood. Yeah. And just. The way he was fighting. Yeah. And like. That's Wolverine. Yeah. You know? Yeah. In an extreme circumstance. That. That's what I've been waiting for. Yeah. Sort of had the same feeling when I first saw.

[01:22:50] The first space battle in. Uh. Star Trek. Um. Series. Discovery. Was it Discovery? Like when I had the space battle with the. Yes. The control. Yes. End of season two. Yes. End of season two. Yeah. I was like. Oh. What is this? You know? Yeah. Like.

[01:23:20] That kind of action. Or when I saw the first Star Trek for the first time. Yeah. That kind of action. You know? It was similar to that. But. To see Wolverine unleashed like that. Was like. I've been waiting for that. Yeah. And that's a good send off. Yeah. That's how I want to remember Jackman is Wolverine. Yeah. I agree. With his fucking foul mouth. And. You know. Cutting heads off. Yeah. That's. The animal that Wolverine is. Yeah. Not some. Yeah. You know what I mean?

[01:23:50] Yeah. Although he was good in Days of Future Past. Don't get me wrong. He was. But like. I mean. Like. He's been good in all the X-Men's. I just felt like they held it back. You're right. Like. Logan was like. I honestly thought Logan could not be topped. And I don't think it was. But Deadpool and Wolverine comes really fucking close. Yeah. But I thought. Also thought Logan had. I thought Logan was so good. That I thought it had shot at Academy. Yeah. So do I. Like. I. I thought the fact that was not nominated for like a best picture.

[01:24:20] Or a best actor. Yeah. I mean that was like some serious chops on Jackman during that movie. That was. That was him chewing up screen time. Yes. But I mean that was. That was really good acting in that movie. It wasn't just a comic book movie. Or even. Like. I mean. Patrick Stewart should have got at least best supporting. Yeah. The craziness of that. Yeah. You know what I mean? That was some good acting. The most powerful mutant in the world. Losing control because of Alzheimer's. Yeah. Like.

[01:24:49] That's a sad. Right? Yeah. Sick. Yeah. God it was so depressing. Yeah. There were moments in that movie where Patrick Stewart just acted so well of being scared. Yeah. You know what I mean? And you never saw that from Professor X. Right. He was never like scared. Right. But there was like. It's like he. Went back to his childhood in his mind. Right. For some.

[01:25:19] You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like next 20. You know what I mean? Like there was that whole interaction and stuff like that. Right. It was just. It was good acting. Logan was a good movie. It was better than Wolverine. It's better than Fox deserved. Oh. Sure. You know. Yeah. Absolutely dude. Like Fox fucked up so much. Yeah.

[01:25:49] And it gave us that jump. That one diamond in the rough. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Fox has laid down some fucking turds. Yeah. Especially when it comes to. Like they ruined Apocalypse. Yeah. The Silver Samurai. Oh. But they did. They absolutely ruined Apocalypse. Yeah. Apocalypse was like Darkseid. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah.

[01:26:17] Apocalypse was a major. Major character. Yeah. Ruined. I mean. They fucked up the Phoenix Saga. They fucked. Twice. They fucked up the Sentinels. Except in Days of Future Past. They look pretty good in that. Yeah. But. That's the only thing we ever saw the Sentinels though. Yeah. Yeah. Because it was. It was a long standing. Oh that's right. You're right.

[01:26:47] No. No. No giant robots for some reason. But like. From. Like some Fox exec. That's where you saw a foot of one. Yeah. You saw. What? I think it was in. You didn't see the whole thing. I think it was in X3. You saw a Sentinel head. Maybe. Because they were in the danger room. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that's when you get the fastball special. And.

[01:27:18] I can't. Some. Professor X and. Somebody else like pissed at Logan. They have to figure. The youngsters have to figure out. Why am I. Why? This is what we do. Yeah. Like you know. That was like. Yeah. Like you know. Yeah. But yeah. You saw like a Sentinel head. Yeah. Maybe that's what I'm. Yeah. Yeah. But I think that was an X. The Sentinels look pretty. They look pretty good. Yeah. But. That's a whole thing too.

[01:27:47] That was a whole thing. Sentinels and. Yeah. There's so many storylines to X-Men. There are. Good storylines. There are. I mean. I mean. That's. I mean. There's a reason why they've been around for. 60 years. Yeah. You know. Oh. Wolverine on the X. Yeah. That's another good shot. Yeah. I was like. Is Jubilee coming out?

[01:28:17] Nope. Well. That's where she comes out. She gets him down. Yeah. But. I still have that comic. Yeah. That was dark. But anyway. Anyway. It was good to see Wolverine. It was a good send off man. That it was. It was a good movie. Very good. Man. Did it hit a lot of marks. Yeah. Especially for the fanboys. Yeah. Girls. I mean. That's what it's meant to do.

[01:28:47] I mean. That's all I guess. I mean. What it was meant to do. Yeah. And Deadpool's a good vessel for that. Yeah. Especially. When he breaks the fourth wall. It's just. The myth is true. The cavalry. Right. We will take better care of you. That shit box down the street. Right. Oh. Reynolds is so good. Oh. You're so good.
