[00:00:22] Welcome to episode 593 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean. I'm Ian and this is the only podcast that says Happy Godzilla Month!
[00:00:34] Nice. Yes, this is the... I can't remember, I should have looked it up, I should have did the research, but November, it's the celebration of Godzilla's 70th anniversary.
[00:00:45] I believe the first Godzilla movie was released in Japan on November 1st. Right.
[00:00:51] Right. But, you know, all month of November is Godzilla Month, all sorts of fun stuff from Toho.
[00:01:00] Yeah.
[00:01:01] They did announce the guy who directed Godzilla Minus One will be directing the next Godzilla movie.
[00:01:09] There's no word if that's going to be a direct sequel to Minus One or if that is going to be a different take on Godzilla.
[00:01:16] Yeah.
[00:01:16] Yeah. But, I mean, that dude did a phenomenal job, so...
[00:01:22] Right.
[00:01:22] I'm happy he's back on board.
[00:01:25] And, you know, just an exciting month.
[00:01:29] Yeah.
[00:01:30] As somebody who's had their love of Godzilla rekindled in the past year.
[00:01:34] Right, right.
[00:01:35] And Godzilla Minus... Like, the American Godzilla movies are cool and I love them.
[00:01:39] But, like, Godzilla Minus One was like, wow, I really love Godzilla.
[00:01:44] Right.
[00:01:44] You know, and I've kind of gotten back and, like, watching the older movies and stuff.
[00:01:49] The Toho movies.
[00:01:53] But, yeah, it's just an exciting time to be a Godzilla fan.
[00:01:56] Yeah.
[00:01:57] I hear you.
[00:01:57] Yeah.
[00:01:59] See South Odie 81 yesterday.
[00:02:01] They did.
[00:02:02] The first time they've won a playoff game in 38 years.
[00:02:06] Wow.
[00:02:09] Like...
[00:02:10] Well, I mean...
[00:02:12] Did McKeesport win?
[00:02:14] I didn't see if McKeesport won or not.
[00:02:16] Okay.
[00:02:18] But, for you, it is crazy to think about.
[00:02:20] Because you went to McKeesport.
[00:02:22] Yeah.
[00:02:22] And, I mean, they've won state championships.
[00:02:24] Right.
[00:02:25] You know, winning a playoff game is no big deal there.
[00:02:27] With South Allegheny, it's a monstrous deal.
[00:02:30] You know?
[00:02:30] Yeah, McKeesport beat Belvern.
[00:02:32] Yeah.
[00:02:32] So, I mean, it was that thing of, like...
[00:02:35] And I knew it had been a long time.
[00:02:41] But I wasn't sure, like, did they win a playoff game, like, in the 2000s when they had, like, a couple of mini runs.
[00:02:54] Yeah.
[00:02:54] Like, you know, they were going to have to make the playoffs.
[00:02:56] But, I guess...
[00:03:00] First off, South Odie making the playoffs is a monster deal.
[00:03:04] Yeah.
[00:03:04] Because they stick.
[00:03:05] Like, I played there.
[00:03:06] We stick.
[00:03:08] Yeah.
[00:03:08] You know?
[00:03:09] They made...
[00:03:10] The playoff run we're talking about was, I think, 1986.
[00:03:16] Two years before I played high school ball.
[00:03:19] Yeah.
[00:03:19] And that was the year they went all the way...
[00:03:24] They were one game away from the WPIL championship.
[00:03:27] They lost to...
[00:03:30] Burgestown.
[00:03:31] Yeah.
[00:03:32] And, like, so it's that thing of, like...
[00:03:37] When I played my sophomore year, we were...
[00:03:40] We just missed the playoffs.
[00:03:42] Yeah.
[00:03:43] And the next two years after that, we were a 3-7 team both years.
[00:03:48] Yeah.
[00:03:49] My junior and senior year.
[00:03:51] And, like, there have been years where South Allegheny has gone 0-4.
[00:03:56] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:03:57] You know, they...
[00:03:58] I have a friend who...
[00:04:00] He was on the team a year.
[00:04:02] They went 0-4.
[00:04:03] Mm-hmm.
[00:04:03] You know?
[00:04:04] Lowest scoring team in WPIL history.
[00:04:06] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:04:07] It was, like, ridiculous.
[00:04:08] Like, they just got shut out, like, almost every game.
[00:04:11] Yeah.
[00:04:11] Like, it was, like, embarrassing, almost, to be, like, uh...
[00:04:14] Yeah, yeah, I went to South Allegheny.
[00:04:16] Yeah.
[00:04:16] Yeah, we stink.
[00:04:17] You know?
[00:04:19] So, to have them, like...
[00:04:20] I mean, not only win, but win huge.
[00:04:23] Like, it was 52-14, I think, with the final score.
[00:04:26] And then, you know, to move on.
[00:04:28] It makes me feel good, you know?
[00:04:29] Yeah.
[00:04:30] A little bit of...
[00:04:31] Pride there.
[00:04:32] A little bit of pride there.
[00:04:33] Yeah.
[00:04:34] Yeah.
[00:04:35] Very sharding.
[00:04:37] What'd you do for Halloween?
[00:04:38] I worked.
[00:04:39] Oh, did you?
[00:04:40] Yeah.
[00:04:41] That's cool.
[00:04:43] Yeah, Nancy went with her daughter, Brittany.
[00:04:47] Mm-hmm.
[00:04:47] And the grandkids, Luna and Cece.
[00:04:50] Mm-hmm.
[00:04:51] And they went to Nancy's sister's house.
[00:04:53] Oh, okay.
[00:04:55] And trick-or-treated and stuff.
[00:05:01] Apparently, they may not, like, band us.
[00:05:02] I mean, Cece's three, Luna's two.
[00:05:05] They stayed out for the full two hours.
[00:05:07] Mm-hmm.
[00:05:08] You know, which is, for kids that age, is unusual.
[00:05:10] Yeah.
[00:05:10] Yeah.
[00:05:11] But, um, there's candy everywhere in this house.
[00:05:14] Like, you know, they're like, they're telling me, like, feel free to take some candy.
[00:05:18] I'm like, all right.
[00:05:19] You just said the wrong motherfucker, that.
[00:05:21] Yeah.
[00:05:23] These kids ain't getting shit.
[00:05:24] Give me all your favorites.
[00:05:25] Yeah.
[00:05:30] All Reese's cups are mine.
[00:05:32] Yeah.
[00:05:32] But, uh, like, they have, like, two bags over there in the corner.
[00:05:37] There's, like, a giant bag in the freezer of chocolate.
[00:05:40] Oh, Jesus.
[00:05:41] And chocolate, you know, like, Reese's cups and Hershey bars and all that.
[00:05:45] Right, right, right.
[00:05:45] You know, like, holy fuck.
[00:06:13] Mm-hmm.
[00:06:16] Pound it on.
[00:06:17] You know, like, holy fuck.
[00:06:18] Thousand dollars worth of candy now.
[00:06:20] Yeah.
[00:06:20] Mm-hmm.
[00:06:21] Yeah, that's how, that's what it feels like.
[00:06:23] So, so, yeah.
[00:06:25] But, I mean, they, they seem to have a good time.
[00:06:27] That's good.
[00:06:28] Yeah.
[00:06:29] Cool.
[00:06:31] Cool.
[00:06:32] Yeah.
[00:06:33] What'd you do for Halloween?
[00:06:35] Just carve a couple pumpkins.
[00:06:37] Yeah.
[00:06:37] Yeah.
[00:06:38] Their Halloween was last weekend.
[00:06:40] Yeah.
[00:06:41] So, there was, you know, I think we went out Saturday when their Halloween was out in California.
[00:06:48] So.
[00:06:49] Yeah.
[00:06:50] We didn't, uh, we didn't.
[00:06:53] So, one of those places that, like, they don't have it on Halloween if it's during the week.
[00:06:59] They just, like, do it on the weekend.
[00:07:00] Right.
[00:07:01] Right.
[00:07:01] Beforehand.
[00:07:08] Right.
[00:07:09] After that rude phone call.
[00:07:11] No.
[00:07:12] She didn't know.
[00:07:13] Yeah.
[00:07:15] Um.
[00:07:17] Pumpkin bomb for.
[00:07:19] Yeah, for.
[00:07:19] Goblin.
[00:07:20] Goblin.
[00:07:21] Yeah.
[00:07:21] Yeah.
[00:07:22] Nice little gourd.
[00:07:23] We went, we went to this place.
[00:07:25] It's a, it's a dairy.
[00:07:27] Yeah.
[00:07:28] Um, we went the day before.
[00:07:30] Yeah.
[00:07:30] I can't remember the name of this.
[00:07:32] Something Spring.
[00:07:34] Something Spring Dairy out.
[00:07:37] Out there.
[00:07:37] Way somewhere.
[00:07:38] Yeah.
[00:07:39] Kind of off the road.
[00:07:40] You can see baby cows and they have, like, pumpkin people.
[00:07:43] I don't know.
[00:07:44] But I guess it's been around for a long time.
[00:07:46] They have their own milk and then they have their own, they make their own fresh bread.
[00:07:49] Yeah.
[00:07:50] And then they have these day old stuff.
[00:07:53] You know, I'm big on day old because they look down to nothing.
[00:07:56] Yeah.
[00:07:56] So, for five bucks we got a whole big ass loaf of bread.
[00:08:00] And then there was a small pack that looked like, um, rolls.
[00:08:06] Yeah.
[00:08:06] Like, um, it was like hamburger buns.
[00:08:10] And there was like four of them in there.
[00:08:12] Yeah.
[00:08:12] And I'm like, wow.
[00:08:13] I was like, oh, I felt it.
[00:08:14] It was like, it's not like the shit you buy in the store where it's all air.
[00:08:18] Yeah.
[00:08:19] It's just like real bread.
[00:08:20] Yeah.
[00:08:20] You know what I mean?
[00:08:21] Like dough.
[00:08:22] Yeah.
[00:08:23] And I was like, wow, these are heavy.
[00:08:26] Except good bread right here.
[00:08:28] You know?
[00:08:28] Yeah.
[00:08:29] Just warm it up and butter.
[00:08:30] You don't have to toast it.
[00:08:32] Just eat it.
[00:08:32] Just like a roll.
[00:08:33] Look, it's making me hungry right now.
[00:08:36] And so, anyway.
[00:08:39] We got that on.
[00:08:40] We got the fresh bread.
[00:08:41] I cut into it.
[00:08:41] It was actually a pepperoni roll.
[00:08:44] Oh, wow.
[00:08:46] Oh, man.
[00:08:47] Even better.
[00:08:47] Oh, man.
[00:08:48] I just wrapped that up in a paper towel.
[00:08:50] Put it in for 30 seconds.
[00:08:51] Yeah.
[00:08:52] It was one of the best.
[00:08:53] It was.
[00:08:54] It might have been better than the pepperoni roll that used to.
[00:08:58] They used to sell at Buy and Buy.
[00:08:59] Wow.
[00:09:00] Yeah.
[00:09:00] In the paper bag.
[00:09:01] Yeah.
[00:09:02] It might have been better.
[00:09:03] I am pretty sure it was.
[00:09:05] Yeah.
[00:09:06] Just because the dough was a little bit thicker.
[00:09:08] It was like a homemade.
[00:09:09] It was like almost a homemade Kaiser.
[00:09:12] Yeah.
[00:09:12] Bread just melted in your mouth, you know?
[00:09:14] Yeah.
[00:09:16] And it was stacked with pepperoni.
[00:09:18] There must have been eight pieces of pepperoni in this fight.
[00:09:20] Yeah.
[00:09:20] With the cheese, you know?
[00:09:21] Yeah.
[00:09:23] So freaking good.
[00:09:24] I was like, this is so good.
[00:09:26] So good.
[00:09:27] Anyway, we bought that whole loaf of bread and then what I thought was bread, but it was
[00:09:31] actually pepperoni rolls.
[00:09:32] Right.
[00:09:32] Five bucks.
[00:09:33] Wow.
[00:09:34] Under five dollars.
[00:09:36] Is it someplace like near you now?
[00:09:37] Yeah.
[00:09:38] It's just a dairy.
[00:09:39] It's maybe 10 minutes away.
[00:09:41] Yeah.
[00:09:41] Yeah.
[00:09:42] But it was good.
[00:09:43] Something you'll definitely be going back to, obviously.
[00:09:45] Probably for the bread.
[00:09:47] Yeah.
[00:09:48] Like they had a hot food section.
[00:09:50] They have like, you just go through the hot foods thing.
[00:09:53] Yeah.
[00:09:53] You just sit down at a table and you have homemade ice cream.
[00:09:56] You know, all that, the whole garbage type of thing, but actually with hot foods too.
[00:10:00] Right.
[00:10:00] Yeah.
[00:10:00] Homemade hot foods.
[00:10:01] Yeah.
[00:10:02] Of course they had the ham salad and everything.
[00:10:03] Yeah.
[00:10:04] But they make their own salads, deli, you know.
[00:10:06] Yeah.
[00:10:07] Really nice country style atmosphere.
[00:10:10] Right.
[00:10:13] Great Gatsby's ghost.
[00:10:14] So what they did was, they, I know his pepperoni rolls are good, but.
[00:10:18] And, uh, um, what they had was, we had a couple pumpkins, you know.
[00:10:26] Yeah.
[00:10:28] But we wanted more and we thought we'd get to them and we didn't, but we put them out.
[00:10:32] We'll put them out for Thanksgiving.
[00:10:33] We got a couple of these guys.
[00:10:34] Yeah.
[00:10:35] Like that.
[00:10:36] But for $20, right.
[00:10:41] And they had pumpkins everywhere.
[00:10:43] Yeah.
[00:10:43] Big pumpkins too.
[00:10:45] Like for 20 bucks, you put, you can, for $20, you can take as many pumpkins as you can.
[00:10:57] As many as you can hold.
[00:10:59] Wow.
[00:11:01] Just, that's a pretty good deal.
[00:11:03] It is.
[00:11:03] Yeah.
[00:11:05] So.
[00:11:05] You get like three or four pumpkins.
[00:11:07] That's.
[00:11:07] Still a good deal.
[00:11:08] Yeah.
[00:11:08] Yeah.
[00:11:08] I had six.
[00:11:09] Wow.
[00:11:10] I loaded six pumpkins.
[00:11:11] Yeah.
[00:11:12] In my arms.
[00:11:12] I thought I was going to, I thought I was going to break my back.
[00:11:15] Yeah.
[00:11:15] And they said, you just have to load it.
[00:11:17] You don't have to put it in the car.
[00:11:18] You know, you just have to hold everything that you're buying and then nest it in a box.
[00:11:23] And so she stacked a bunch of pumpkins.
[00:11:27] Yeah.
[00:11:27] Yeah.
[00:11:28] I was like, I like that one.
[00:11:29] And so you had to Tetris it because.
[00:11:31] Yes.
[00:11:32] Pumpkins are flat.
[00:11:32] There's a flat part on the back.
[00:11:34] Right.
[00:11:34] So that's where you start and you put the.
[00:11:36] Yeah.
[00:11:36] Cause of how it lays.
[00:11:37] Curved down.
[00:11:38] Yeah.
[00:11:39] Holding.
[00:11:39] And then you just keep stacking.
[00:11:41] Yeah.
[00:11:43] Yeah.
[00:11:43] So here I am in the middle of the parking lot with six pumpkins.
[00:11:47] Yeah.
[00:11:50] It was crazy.
[00:11:53] Yeah.
[00:11:53] It was a good deal.
[00:11:54] They wanted to get rid of their pumpkins and that was a way for them to get rid of their pumpkins.
[00:11:57] Yeah.
[00:11:57] They're just going to rot.
[00:11:58] Yeah.
[00:11:59] Nothing you can do to them.
[00:12:00] Right.
[00:12:01] You can feed them.
[00:12:02] And.
[00:12:02] Feed them to deer.
[00:12:03] Right.
[00:12:04] Yeah.
[00:12:05] Deery pumpkin.
[00:12:06] I think.
[00:12:06] Yeah.
[00:12:07] Yeah.
[00:12:08] So anyway.
[00:12:08] Yeah.
[00:12:08] That was the deal on that.
[00:12:14] That's cool.
[00:12:14] Yeah.
[00:12:15] So we did die.
[00:12:16] No.
[00:12:16] You're going to like.
[00:12:17] Like you bought six pumpkins.
[00:12:18] Like you're looking to make like some pumpkin pie.
[00:12:20] I think pumpkin pie from the little ones.
[00:12:24] Yeah.
[00:12:25] The pie pumpkins.
[00:12:26] Yeah.
[00:12:26] And the big ones will probably just keep around and make some seeds.
[00:12:30] Yeah.
[00:12:31] Maybe at Thanksgiving if it lasts we'll carve a Thanksgiving pumpkin.
[00:12:35] You know like a.
[00:12:36] You know whatever.
[00:12:37] A gobbler on it.
[00:12:38] Yeah.
[00:12:38] Yeah.
[00:12:39] Yeah.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:42] Yeah.
[00:12:42] But yeah it was pretty cool.
[00:12:43] That's cool.
[00:12:44] Yeah.
[00:12:46] Yeah.
[00:12:49] Yeah.
[00:12:49] Just busy doing work.
[00:12:50] I'm working at Chadyside now.
[00:12:52] Yeah.
[00:12:55] That's a nice hospital.
[00:12:58] I have to say.
[00:13:00] I mean.
[00:13:01] Yeah.
[00:13:01] You know in the Presby.
[00:13:01] They have some.
[00:13:03] Steeler things on the wall.
[00:13:05] You know.
[00:13:06] Some cheap art.
[00:13:09] You know.
[00:13:10] Yeah.
[00:13:11] And.
[00:13:14] I mean it's nice.
[00:13:15] I mean they've redone it.
[00:13:16] They have a Starbucks in Presby.
[00:13:17] But.
[00:13:19] Chadyside's off the hook.
[00:13:21] That's Mike.
[00:13:23] They got like.
[00:13:24] Art.
[00:13:25] Art.
[00:13:26] Yeah.
[00:13:26] And then they have like.
[00:13:27] Art for sale art.
[00:13:28] Yeah.
[00:13:28] And then they have Starbucks everywhere.
[00:13:32] It's crazy.
[00:13:34] Very nice.
[00:13:35] Very nice.
[00:13:35] Very well laid out.
[00:13:37] Yeah.
[00:13:38] I mean like.
[00:13:38] Even though it's a.
[00:13:39] It is Mike.
[00:13:41] Even though it's a UPMC.
[00:13:42] That Chadyside is where the money's at.
[00:13:45] Yeah.
[00:13:45] You know.
[00:13:46] Like.
[00:13:47] That's Chadyside.
[00:13:48] Squirrel Hill.
[00:13:49] Yeah.
[00:13:50] You know.
[00:13:52] East Liberty Nile.
[00:13:53] Yeah.
[00:13:55] So that's where all the.
[00:13:57] So yeah.
[00:13:57] They make sure that hostel is very nice.
[00:14:00] It's nice.
[00:14:00] Yeah.
[00:14:01] I'm sure they got nice donors.
[00:14:03] Yeah.
[00:14:04] That's the thing.
[00:14:05] Like.
[00:14:05] That's what I'm saying.
[00:14:06] Like.
[00:14:06] Unlike Presby.
[00:14:07] And.
[00:14:08] Like all the others.
[00:14:09] Or.
[00:14:10] All those other places.
[00:14:11] Yeah.
[00:14:11] I'm not dogging McKees.
[00:14:12] I'm not dogging the hospital at all.
[00:14:14] No.
[00:14:15] That's just where I'm working.
[00:14:16] It's just.
[00:14:16] It's a situation where like.
[00:14:19] As a donor.
[00:14:21] I'm donating to my local.
[00:14:24] Neighborhood hospital.
[00:14:25] Which is Chadyside hospital.
[00:14:27] And I am a man of.
[00:14:29] Wealth and taste.
[00:14:30] Yeah.
[00:14:31] You know.
[00:14:31] So now all of a sudden.
[00:14:32] You know.
[00:14:34] The.
[00:14:34] The Sean Coon wing.
[00:14:37] Is.
[00:14:37] Yeah.
[00:14:38] You know.
[00:14:39] So I mean.
[00:14:39] That's what I mean.
[00:14:40] Like.
[00:14:40] I mean.
[00:14:40] Unlike.
[00:14:42] I mean.
[00:14:42] I'm sure like.
[00:14:43] If you go.
[00:14:43] Because it's brand new.
[00:14:45] I'm sure if you go to like.
[00:14:46] The one in Monroeville.
[00:14:48] UPMC East.
[00:14:49] Right.
[00:14:49] Right.
[00:14:49] I'm sure that's very nice.
[00:14:51] As well.
[00:14:51] Right.
[00:14:52] But it's also like.
[00:14:53] It's less than five years old.
[00:14:54] I think.
[00:14:55] Right.
[00:14:56] You know.
[00:14:56] So it's a little bit different.
[00:14:58] But like when you're talking about.
[00:14:59] Like McKeesport.
[00:15:00] And Presby.
[00:15:01] These are hospitals that are over 100 years old each.
[00:15:03] Right.
[00:15:04] While the buildings have been renovated.
[00:15:05] And renovated.
[00:15:06] And renovated.
[00:15:07] It's still.
[00:15:07] A hundred year old building.
[00:15:09] Right.
[00:15:10] Right.
[00:15:10] You know.
[00:15:11] Yeah.
[00:15:11] So.
[00:15:13] There is a little bit of a difference.
[00:15:14] In some of these hospitals.
[00:15:16] That we're talking about.
[00:15:17] And like how nice they are.
[00:15:19] As compared to.
[00:15:20] To others.
[00:15:21] Right.
[00:15:24] It's.
[00:15:24] It's just a different experience.
[00:15:26] I've.
[00:15:27] Quite enjoyed.
[00:15:28] Going to the different places.
[00:15:29] To see.
[00:15:30] Yeah.
[00:15:31] Oh I'm sure.
[00:15:33] I'm sure that would be interesting.
[00:15:34] Like to go like to.
[00:15:37] Like okay.
[00:15:38] This is where I.
[00:15:39] I've learned my trade.
[00:15:40] Right.
[00:15:41] But now I've gone to like.
[00:15:42] Six different places.
[00:15:43] And I've.
[00:15:44] Gained experience and knowledge.
[00:15:46] For how they do things.
[00:15:47] And.
[00:15:48] Right.
[00:15:48] They've learned from me.
[00:15:49] And you know.
[00:15:50] Stuff like that.
[00:15:51] Right.
[00:15:52] Yeah.
[00:15:54] Yeah.
[00:15:54] That's pretty cool.
[00:15:57] Yeah.
[00:15:58] Different places.
[00:15:59] You know.
[00:15:59] Yeah.
[00:16:02] I don't know.
[00:16:04] So.
[00:16:05] I mean it's fun.
[00:16:06] Yeah.
[00:16:09] Anyway.
[00:16:10] What's on your mind?
[00:16:11] What do you.
[00:16:11] What's going on with you?
[00:16:13] So something I was thinking about.
[00:16:15] The other day.
[00:16:16] Okay.
[00:16:19] And many people will tell you.
[00:16:22] Most people will tell you.
[00:16:25] 1984.
[00:16:26] Is the greatest year.
[00:16:28] For movies.
[00:16:30] Okay.
[00:16:30] Okay.
[00:16:31] And.
[00:16:32] When.
[00:16:32] When you look at it.
[00:16:33] From the standpoint of.
[00:16:35] Movies that were released that year.
[00:16:38] I'll.
[00:16:38] I'll.
[00:16:39] Kind of give you an example here.
[00:16:41] 1984 gave us Ghostbusters.

[00:17:47] When you're talking about.
[00:17:49] Movies.
[00:17:50] Like pop.
[00:17:50] From a pop culture standpoint.
[00:17:52] 1984.
[00:17:53] May be the greatest year ever for movies.
[00:17:56] Yeah.
[00:17:56] I agree.
[00:17:56] You know.
[00:17:57] Just from that.
[00:17:58] And I skipped a bunch.
[00:18:00] You know.
[00:18:00] But I mean.
[00:18:01] It's like.
[00:18:02] Wow.
[00:18:02] Wow.
[00:18:02] Like what a.
[00:18:03] What a one year.
[00:18:06] Influence.
[00:18:07] Right.
[00:18:08] So I started wondering.
[00:18:10] What would be the greatest year for music.
[00:18:14] Hmm.
[00:18:15] But they're like.
[00:18:16] Popular music.
[00:18:17] Yeah.
[00:18:17] So.
[00:18:19] I.
[00:18:19] I did some digging.
[00:18:21] A little bit.
[00:18:23] And.
[00:18:25] The old Google machine gave me three different years.
[00:18:28] Okay.
[00:18:29] 1969.
[00:18:31] Because that was.
[00:18:33] The year of like.
[00:18:35] The White Album.
[00:18:37] White.
[00:18:38] Not only that.
[00:18:38] But like you're also.
[00:18:39] I don't know.
[00:18:39] Like.
[00:18:41] You're looking at like.
[00:18:42] 69 was like.
[00:18:43] The year of like.
[00:18:47] That was like.

[00:18:51] There was a lot of like.
[00:18:53] Influential music.
[00:18:54] That came out in that year.
[00:18:56] Right.
[00:18:56] 71.
[00:18:58] Because.
[00:18:59] That was the year music.
[00:19:01] Kind of switched from like.
[00:19:02] The hippie beatnik.
[00:19:05] Yeah.
[00:19:05] Style to.
[00:19:07] Led Zeppelin starts taking over.
[00:19:09] Black Sabbath starts taking over.
[00:19:10] Rock becomes harder.
[00:19:12] Yeah.
[00:19:12] Pop changes.
[00:19:13] Like there's a lot of changes that take place in 1971.
[00:19:16] Mm-hmm.
[00:19:18] And 1984.
[00:19:19] No really.
[00:19:20] Yeah.
[00:19:21] And when you look at like.
[00:19:23] Just like.

[00:20:52] So.
[00:20:54] And that's just the top 20.
[00:20:56] Like I was looking through the top 100.
[00:20:58] That they list.
[00:20:59] And that I mean.
[00:21:00] Again.
[00:21:00] This is a year that's just jam-packed with music.
[00:21:02] When you think about it.
[00:21:04] Like.
[00:21:04] So.
[00:21:05] Like when you think about it.
[00:21:06] It's like.
[00:21:07] This is like.
[00:21:10] Especially for like you and I.
[00:21:11] At our age.
[00:21:12] Like.
[00:21:12] Extremely influential.
[00:21:14] Right.
[00:21:15] So does that mean.
[00:21:18] 1988.
[00:21:19] 1984.
[00:21:20] Maybe the greatest year in pop culture.
[00:21:23] Could be.
[00:21:26] Yeah.
[00:21:26] Very well.
[00:21:27] Could be.
[00:21:27] If the music.
[00:21:28] The music doesn't work.
[00:21:29] Yeah.
[00:21:31] And then the movies do align as well.
[00:21:34] Like.
[00:21:34] It is.
[00:21:35] How many songs were in those movies.
[00:21:37] From.
[00:21:38] You know what I mean.
[00:21:39] Right.
[00:21:39] Because like.
[00:21:40] If you go through.
[00:21:41] Like.
[00:21:41] Okay.
[00:21:41] Like.
[00:21:42] There is.
[00:21:43] You know.
[00:21:44] Footloose.
[00:21:45] Yeah.
[00:21:45] By Kenny Loggins.
[00:21:46] Is in this top 100.
[00:21:47] Yeah.
[00:21:48] You know.
[00:21:48] Like.
[00:21:48] Yeah.
[00:21:49] You know.
[00:21:49] That 1984.
[00:21:50] Was just a year of like.
[00:21:51] I mean.
[00:21:53] Prince has three of the top eight.
[00:21:55] Right.
[00:21:56] Off of the Purple Rain soundtrack.
[00:21:58] Which was also.
[00:22:00] Right.
[00:22:01] You know.
[00:22:01] The movie from that year.
[00:22:02] I mean.
[00:22:02] Right.
[00:22:03] It's.
[00:22:05] And I can't think of another year.
[00:22:10] That would align like that.
[00:22:12] Right.
[00:22:12] It would come even close to aligning like that.
[00:22:15] Like.
[00:22:15] They also listed like 1991.
[00:22:19] As.
[00:22:20] Some people would consider it.
[00:22:22] Because that's the.
[00:22:23] The year grunge came into effect.
[00:22:25] Mm-hmm.
[00:22:25] In 1993.
[00:22:27] Because.
[00:22:28] That's when you got.
[00:22:30] Like.
[00:22:30] That was the start of the pop.
[00:22:32] Punk revolution.
[00:22:33] With like Green Day and Offspring.
[00:22:36] Okay.
[00:22:36] Also.
[00:22:37] I think that's when.
[00:22:39] Rage Against the Machine.
[00:22:41] Releases their first album.
[00:22:42] Okay.
[00:22:43] Um.
[00:22:45] And.
[00:22:45] So they're like.
[00:22:46] You.
[00:22:46] You look at those two years.
[00:22:47] But like.
[00:22:49] Overall.
[00:22:50] Like.
[00:22:51] Like.
[00:22:52] Between.
[00:22:52] I mean.
[00:22:54] It gets hard to like.
[00:22:56] Kind of sit down and say.
[00:22:58] For one particular year.
[00:23:00] To have as massive an influence.
[00:23:02] On pop culture.
[00:23:02] As 1984 did.
[00:23:04] Which is.
[00:23:05] Funny that it's 1984.
[00:23:06] Based upon.
[00:23:07] You know.
[00:23:08] George Orwell wrote a novel.
[00:23:10] About that.
[00:23:11] Yeah.
[00:23:11] Yeah.
[00:23:11] You know.
[00:23:12] Um.
[00:23:15] Kind of impressive.
[00:23:16] In my opinion.
[00:23:17] Yeah.
[00:23:19] Like.
[00:23:20] That's.
[00:23:20] Probably the year.
[00:23:22] That pop culture.
[00:23:23] Absolutely explodes.
[00:23:24] Right.
[00:23:25] And becomes.
[00:23:26] The influence that it is.
[00:23:28] Yeah.
[00:23:28] Now.
[00:23:33] It's a good year.
[00:23:34] It's a really good year.
[00:23:36] Yeah.
[00:23:36] Like.
[00:23:37] It.
[00:23:38] And it was like.
[00:23:39] I mean.
[00:23:39] I think.
[00:23:40] Also.
[00:23:40] I think 1984.
[00:23:41] That's the year.
[00:23:42] MTV.
[00:23:43] Kind of really.
[00:23:45] Blew up.
[00:23:46] Yeah.
[00:23:46] I think.
[00:23:47] I think they started in 1982.
[00:23:49] But they really didn't.
[00:23:52] Explode until.
[00:23:53] Yeah.
[00:23:54] The only time I remember.
[00:23:55] The first time I remember.
[00:23:57] Ever watching MTV.
[00:23:59] On cable.
[00:24:00] And I think back then.
[00:24:02] It was channel 22.
[00:24:04] Yeah.
[00:24:04] In West Virginia.
[00:24:06] But.
[00:24:06] It was at my Graham's house.
[00:24:09] And it was.
[00:24:10] Free back then.
[00:24:12] I don't think you had to have.
[00:24:13] It was just part of the lineup.
[00:24:15] Or maybe she had some kind of cheap cable.
[00:24:17] Yeah.
[00:24:17] I don't remember.
[00:24:18] But you had to press the button.
[00:24:19] To go up to the thing.
[00:24:20] Yeah.
[00:24:20] And.
[00:24:22] Before.
[00:24:23] You had cable boxes.
[00:24:24] You just.
[00:24:24] Yeah.
[00:24:25] It was like.
[00:24:25] They actually like.
[00:24:26] Had turned it on at the.
[00:24:27] At the pole.
[00:24:28] Yeah.
[00:24:29] So yeah.
[00:24:29] Because you just put the coax.
[00:24:31] Into the back of the TV.
[00:24:32] But.
[00:24:32] Like somebody actually had to come.
[00:24:34] Like you would make an appointment.
[00:24:35] Yeah.
[00:24:35] For somebody to come and turn on the cable for you.
[00:24:38] Yeah.
[00:24:38] Yeah.
[00:24:38] And.
[00:24:39] The first things I remember ever watching.
[00:24:44] On there was.
[00:24:48] 99 balloons.
[00:24:50] Yeah.
[00:24:52] And I remember watching.
[00:24:57] I don't remember too much.
[00:24:58] Because I was young still back then.
[00:25:01] But I do remember.
[00:25:02] Money for nothing.
[00:25:04] Yeah.
[00:25:04] That was a big one.
[00:25:06] That came out.
[00:25:07] Yeah.
[00:25:07] Back then.
[00:25:08] Oh yeah.
[00:25:09] Yeah.
[00:25:09] And.
[00:25:10] I mean.
[00:25:11] That's a.
[00:25:11] That was a monster song.
[00:25:13] For MTV it was.
[00:25:15] Yeah.
[00:25:15] Yeah.
[00:25:16] Well I mean it was a monster song period.
[00:25:17] But I mean.
[00:25:18] That's what I remember watching.
[00:25:19] Right.
[00:25:19] On videos for MTV.
[00:25:21] Yeah.
[00:25:22] Back.
[00:25:22] Way back.
[00:25:23] Yeah.
[00:25:24] I remember that coming on.
[00:25:25] I just don't remember the other songs that were on.
[00:25:29] As weird as that sounds.
[00:25:30] It just.
[00:25:30] I don't.
[00:25:31] I remember the 99 balloons.
[00:25:32] Yeah.
[00:25:34] But I just don't remember the other songs that came on.
[00:25:37] Now I remember the days of.
[00:25:40] MTV with Cindy Lauper.
[00:25:42] And.
[00:25:43] All that stuff.
[00:25:45] Like.
[00:25:45] From the Goonies.
[00:25:47] Yeah.
[00:25:48] Do you understand what I mean?
[00:25:49] Like.
[00:25:49] Yeah.
[00:25:49] She had.
[00:25:50] I can't remember the name of the album she came out with.
[00:25:52] But it had like.
[00:25:53] Good Enough.
[00:25:54] And.
[00:25:56] Yeah.
[00:25:58] That's like her second album.
[00:26:00] Was it her second album?
[00:26:01] Yeah.
[00:26:02] What was the.
[00:26:03] What was the song about.
[00:26:06] Masturbation.
[00:26:08] Oombop.
[00:26:09] Yeah.
[00:26:10] Yeah.
[00:26:10] I remember that song.
[00:26:12] Yeah.
[00:26:13] Um.
[00:26:14] And of course Thriller.
[00:26:15] And you know.
[00:26:16] Yeah.
[00:26:16] All the Michael Jackson shit that came out.
[00:26:18] Not later.
[00:26:19] Early Michael.
[00:26:19] Like beat it.
[00:26:20] Yeah.
[00:26:21] You know.
[00:26:22] That kind of stuff.
[00:26:25] Um.
[00:26:26] Thriller.
[00:26:27] Beat it.
[00:26:29] I remember.
[00:26:30] I do remember from back in the day.
[00:26:35] Da da da da da da da da da da.
[00:26:38] With the bubbles.
[00:26:41] Michael Jackson video.
[00:26:43] Oh.
[00:26:44] Da da da da.
[00:26:48] Can't stop till you get enough.
[00:26:50] Come on.
[00:26:50] Oh yeah.
[00:26:51] That song.
[00:26:52] Yeah.
[00:26:52] It was almost disco-ish.
[00:26:54] Yeah.
[00:26:54] Not.
[00:26:55] So I do remember that too.
[00:26:58] I'm talking early videos.
[00:27:00] Yeah.
[00:27:00] You know.
[00:27:01] I don't remember.
[00:27:02] Like the stuff like.
[00:27:03] Like.
[00:27:06] I remember.
[00:27:07] Like.
[00:27:08] It's weird.
[00:27:09] Like.
[00:27:09] When Sabbath came out.
[00:27:11] When they did Iron Man.
[00:27:13] And they did.
[00:27:13] The Sabbath stuff.
[00:27:15] You know.
[00:27:16] Yeah.
[00:27:17] I don't know how they did that.
[00:27:20] Looking back.
[00:27:22] When it came on Banger's Ball.
[00:27:25] Well like.
[00:27:25] Because that song was older than.
[00:27:27] Well yeah.
[00:27:27] Like stuff like that.
[00:27:28] Yeah.
[00:27:31] Like.
[00:27:35] And you only saw it on Banger's Ball.
[00:27:37] You didn't see it on.
[00:27:38] No.
[00:27:38] Regular.
[00:27:38] But like.
[00:27:39] That was like done.
[00:27:40] Like.
[00:27:40] It was like.
[00:27:40] Music videos were being made.
[00:27:42] But they weren't like.
[00:27:43] Being like.
[00:27:44] Published.
[00:27:45] Like.
[00:27:45] It was like.
[00:27:45] For like.
[00:27:46] Promotional purposes.
[00:27:47] Yeah.
[00:27:47] Yeah.
[00:27:48] And.
[00:27:49] Like.
[00:27:49] It wasn't until.
[00:27:52] MTV came around.
[00:27:53] That like.
[00:27:53] You started seeing those more.
[00:27:55] Because like.
[00:27:55] Like.
[00:27:56] They would make like.
[00:27:56] It would be like.
[00:27:57] Like.
[00:27:57] You know.
[00:27:57] The band.
[00:27:58] And then like.
[00:27:59] In like.
[00:27:59] The background.
[00:28:00] It would be like.
[00:28:00] Some psychedelic effect.
[00:28:02] Yeah.
[00:28:02] In a place.
[00:28:03] Yeah.
[00:28:03] Yeah.
[00:28:03] Yeah.
[00:28:03] But it was like.
[00:28:04] Only for like.
[00:28:04] Promotional purposes.
[00:28:05] Is to like.
[00:28:06] Send like.
[00:28:06] Radio stations.
[00:28:07] Like.
[00:28:08] Here's the band.
[00:28:09] That we want you to play.
[00:28:10] Or something like.
[00:28:10] Like.
[00:28:10] Yeah.
[00:28:12] It wasn't anything.
[00:28:13] That was like.
[00:28:13] Really being like.
[00:28:15] Shown to the public.
[00:28:17] Per se.
[00:28:17] Right.
[00:28:18] And then.
[00:28:19] Later on.
[00:28:20] Like.
[00:28:21] The idea caught on.
[00:28:22] Of like.
[00:28:22] Well.
[00:28:22] If we're doing these.
[00:28:23] For promotional purposes.
[00:28:25] Let's do it more artistically.
[00:28:27] MTV becomes a thing.
[00:28:28] And now.
[00:28:29] It's.
[00:28:30] Yeah.
[00:28:30] You know.
[00:28:30] What I really like too.
[00:28:32] Is like.
[00:28:32] When.
[00:28:34] MTV played music videos.
[00:28:35] That's what they did.
[00:28:36] And then they had a couple.
[00:28:38] Because I remember the first.
[00:28:41] MTV awards.
[00:28:43] Yeah.
[00:28:43] And that was.
[00:28:43] There was nobody there.
[00:28:45] There was.
[00:28:45] Ken.
[00:28:46] Oberman.
[00:28:47] Yeah.
[00:28:48] Or somebody in the.
[00:28:49] In a.
[00:28:50] Like a.
[00:28:50] Disc jockey type.
[00:28:52] Stage area.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:54] About the Moonies.
[00:28:55] Yeah.
[00:28:55] Literally.
[00:28:56] Yeah.
[00:28:57] And then.
[00:28:57] But also.
[00:28:58] I mean.
[00:28:58] That was also.
[00:28:59] Like.
[00:28:59] Those first MTV musicals.
[00:29:00] Was also the night.
[00:29:01] Madonna.
[00:29:02] Became Madonna.
[00:29:03] Because that's when she did.
[00:29:04] The Like a Virgin.
[00:29:05] Yeah.
[00:29:06] Stage performance.
[00:29:06] Where she was crawling around.
[00:29:07] On the stage.
[00:29:08] And it was like.
[00:29:10] Holy shit.
[00:29:10] What is going on here?
[00:29:12] Yeah.
[00:29:12] You know.
[00:29:12] Like that was.
[00:29:14] And I remember.
[00:29:15] Yeah.
[00:29:17] And like.
[00:29:17] What I mean.
[00:29:18] I did like MTV at first.
[00:29:19] And then it got.
[00:29:20] Terrible.
[00:29:22] But.
[00:29:23] But I really enjoyed VH1.
[00:29:26] Remember 120 minutes.
[00:29:27] And that was VH1.
[00:29:28] Right?
[00:29:29] That was MTV.
[00:29:29] Was that MTV?
[00:29:30] 120 minutes?
[00:29:31] Because Saturday night was.
[00:29:33] Yeah.
[00:29:33] You're right.
[00:29:33] You're right.
[00:29:33] Yeah.
[00:29:33] Saturday night was Headbangers Ball.
[00:29:35] And Sunday night was 120 minutes.
[00:29:38] Yeah.
[00:29:38] So you'd watch Headbangers Ball for the metal stuff.
[00:29:41] Yeah.
[00:29:41] Now you'd watch 120 minutes.
[00:29:43] For like.
[00:29:44] R.E.M.
[00:29:45] And Depeche Mode.
[00:29:46] The psychedelic furs.
[00:29:47] And that type of stuff.
[00:29:48] Pumpkins.
[00:29:49] Yeah.
[00:29:50] Well.
[00:29:50] I'm talking the 80s.
[00:29:51] That was before the pumpkins.
[00:29:53] I am.
[00:29:53] It was like later.
[00:29:54] And it was not.
[00:29:54] Yeah.
[00:29:55] Like.
[00:29:55] You were looking like.
[00:29:56] You said like the furs.
[00:29:58] And the.
[00:29:58] Yeah.
[00:29:59] I know what you mean.
[00:30:00] Yeah.
[00:30:00] Like it was like.
[00:30:02] The.
[00:30:02] The.
[00:30:03] The underground pop stuff.
[00:30:05] Yeah.
[00:30:06] But I did like.
[00:30:07] Or alternative.
[00:30:08] I did like 120 minutes.
[00:30:10] Oh yeah.
[00:30:11] So did I.
[00:30:11] As it went through.
[00:30:12] I liked 120 minutes.
[00:30:14] Yeah.
[00:30:15] Like when they came out with Massey Star.
[00:30:17] And like pumpkins.
[00:30:18] And it changed.
[00:30:19] Yeah.
[00:30:19] You know what I mean.
[00:30:20] Like.
[00:30:20] Well.
[00:30:20] It did as.
[00:30:21] Second.
[00:30:22] It changed as what was alternative changed.
[00:30:24] What's the.
[00:30:25] Yeah.
[00:30:25] It did.
[00:30:25] And what was the.
[00:30:30] They're like the weirdest band ever by.
[00:30:32] Yoshi Battles the Pink Robots.
[00:30:34] What's.
[00:30:35] Oh.
[00:30:36] I can't remember.
[00:30:39] Anyway.
[00:30:40] Bad stuff like that.
[00:30:41] Yeah.
[00:30:43] Leave on.
[00:30:45] Like the.
[00:30:47] He like a one.
[00:30:48] In my mind.
[00:30:48] He's a one hitter.
[00:30:49] I'm sure people will disagree with me.
[00:30:50] I'll probably say.
[00:30:50] No.
[00:30:50] You don't know.
[00:30:52] Like the first time I saw.
[00:30:53] Matthew Sweet.
[00:30:54] Girlfriend.
[00:30:55] That video.
[00:30:56] Yeah.
[00:30:56] I was like.
[00:30:58] This is fucking awesome.
[00:31:00] You know.
[00:31:01] It was shit like that.
[00:31:02] That you just like.
[00:31:03] You wouldn't hear on the radio.
[00:31:05] Right.
[00:31:05] Flaming lips.
[00:31:06] Flaming lips.
[00:31:07] Yeah.
[00:31:08] Um.
[00:31:09] Yes.
[00:31:10] I mean.
[00:31:10] That was where you got like.
[00:31:14] Between the short lived run.
[00:31:16] In Pittsburgh.
[00:31:17] Of double X.
[00:31:18] Yeah.
[00:31:19] 100.7 double X.
[00:31:21] Mm.
[00:31:21] And then.
[00:31:23] 120 minutes.
[00:31:24] Like that's where you got your fix for like.
[00:31:27] That type of stuff.
[00:31:29] Yeah.
[00:31:30] Yeah.
[00:31:30] Pittsburgh had terrible radio stations.
[00:31:31] Still do.
[00:31:32] Yeah.
[00:31:33] I mean.
[00:31:33] It's horrible.
[00:31:35] Like.
[00:31:35] And it's funny.
[00:31:36] Like.
[00:31:36] It fits my style.
[00:31:39] Yeah.
[00:31:40] Like.
[00:31:41] It's funny.
[00:31:42] The X.
[00:31:43] Pittsburgh's alternative channel.
[00:31:44] Which is.
[00:31:45] Now an oldie station.
[00:31:47] Yeah.
[00:31:47] It's.
[00:31:47] It's essentially a 90s oldie station.
[00:31:49] It's 94.5 when we grow.
[00:31:51] Yeah.
[00:31:53] Uh.
[00:31:53] Yeah.
[00:31:54] It's.
[00:31:54] It's.
[00:31:55] It's.
[00:31:56] It's.
[00:31:56] It's.
[00:31:57] It's for Gen X.
[00:31:58] But.
[00:31:59] It's not.
[00:32:00] They just play.
[00:32:01] They're just so repetitive.
[00:32:02] Yeah.
[00:32:03] They're playing the same shit from like.
[00:32:06] 1997.
[00:32:06] 1997.
[00:32:07] Little Green Day.
[00:32:08] Yeah.
[00:32:08] Interstate Love Song.
[00:32:10] Not that I mind Interstate Love Song.
[00:32:11] I'm just saying that.
[00:32:12] It's all.
[00:32:13] Oldies grunge.
[00:32:14] Yeah.
[00:32:15] If that makes any sense.
[00:32:16] It does.
[00:32:17] But it's that thing of like.
[00:32:20] That's what Pittsburgh is.
[00:32:22] Yeah.
[00:32:23] Yeah.
[00:32:23] Yeah.
[00:32:23] You know.
[00:32:24] And DVE is still playing.
[00:32:27] Well.
[00:32:27] Even back.
[00:32:27] Same rotation of 30 songs.
[00:32:29] I can remember going out of stage somewhere.
[00:32:31] When I was younger.
[00:32:33] Right.
[00:32:35] And literally.
[00:32:36] Like I went out of state.
[00:32:39] This younger kid.
[00:32:40] 15, 16.
[00:32:42] I don't know if it was Miss.
[00:32:43] I don't know where I was.
[00:32:44] And we put on the radio.
[00:32:46] You know.
[00:32:47] Mm-hmm.
[00:32:48] And I mean that's why I bought so many tapes as a kid.
[00:32:51] Because I get so tired of the radio.
[00:32:52] Yeah.
[00:32:53] And I will never forget.
[00:32:55] I was.
[00:32:55] It was.
[00:32:55] I think it was Mississippi.
[00:32:56] I was driving down Beach Highway.
[00:32:58] And.
[00:32:59] And.
[00:32:59] Shout out the devil came off.
[00:33:00] I'm like.
[00:33:03] Yeah.
[00:33:03] You don't hear this on the radio.
[00:33:05] Yeah.
[00:33:06] You know.
[00:33:06] And like three songs later.
[00:33:07] Master of Puppets comes on.
[00:33:09] Yeah.
[00:33:09] You don't hear Master of Puppets on the radio.
[00:33:11] Yeah.
[00:33:12] No.
[00:33:12] Never.
[00:33:12] They never.
[00:33:13] They never.
[00:33:13] That song doesn't get airplay in Pittsburgh.
[00:33:16] No.
[00:33:16] Not at all.
[00:33:17] You know.
[00:33:18] And like it's that kind of stuff that.
[00:33:20] Yeah.
[00:33:20] But you get more college stations.
[00:33:23] You know what I mean.
[00:33:23] Yeah.
[00:33:24] It just seems like other states are just.
[00:33:26] Way up on their radio.
[00:33:28] And.
[00:33:28] Jesus Christ.
[00:33:29] I mean we were stuck with.
[00:33:30] I'm literally.
[00:33:32] We were stuck with.
[00:33:34] B94.
[00:33:35] 94.5 for the oldies.
[00:33:38] 96.9.
[00:33:39] And WDV were pretty much the same station.
[00:33:42] Yeah.
[00:33:43] And.
[00:33:44] That was pretty much it.
[00:33:48] As far as rock.
[00:33:50] Yeah.
[00:33:51] There was four or five stations.
[00:33:54] That.
[00:33:54] And B94 was garbage.
[00:33:56] But.
[00:33:57] There was four or five stations that we had.
[00:33:59] And you go to these other states.
[00:34:00] There was like.
[00:34:01] They had like 20 stations.
[00:34:04] Yeah.
[00:34:04] No.
[00:34:04] There's like.
[00:34:05] You know.
[00:34:05] There's like 10 rock stations.
[00:34:07] Yeah.
[00:34:09] Sick.
[00:34:10] Yeah.
[00:34:10] Not here.
[00:34:11] No.
[00:34:11] It was.
[00:34:11] You know.
[00:34:12] It was Zeppelin Floyd.
[00:34:13] And.
[00:34:15] Zeppelin Floyd.
[00:34:15] And the ACDC.
[00:34:17] That's what you got on DV.
[00:34:18] Skinner.
[00:34:19] A lot of Skinner.
[00:34:19] Yeah.
[00:34:20] A lot of Skinner.
[00:34:20] And then every once in a while.
[00:34:22] They play.
[00:34:25] And throw in Copperhead Road.
[00:34:27] Yeah.
[00:34:27] Or throw in.
[00:34:31] Oh.
[00:34:34] Werewolf London.
[00:34:35] Yeah.
[00:34:35] Yeah.
[00:34:35] Where Warren's evil.
[00:34:36] Yeah.
[00:34:37] Some Seager.
[00:34:38] Yeah.
[00:34:39] And.
[00:34:40] That was.
[00:34:41] From DV.
[00:34:42] And some queen.
[00:34:44] Usually we will rock you.
[00:34:45] Of.
[00:34:49] Not like.
[00:34:50] But it was always.
[00:34:51] Queen.
[00:34:52] It was always queen.
[00:34:53] Pre 1980.
[00:34:55] Yes.
[00:34:56] Yeah.
[00:34:56] You never got new queen.
[00:34:58] No.
[00:34:58] No.
[00:34:58] Like that.
[00:34:59] That.
[00:34:59] That.
[00:34:59] That queen.
[00:35:00] That was.
[00:35:00] Like huge hits.
[00:35:02] Like.
[00:35:02] This.
[00:35:02] I always found this fascinating too.
[00:35:04] Like.
[00:35:05] And here's the top 10.
[00:35:07] From like.
[00:35:08] England.
[00:35:09] This week.
[00:35:10] Yeah.
[00:35:10] And it'll be like.
[00:35:11] Queen.
[00:35:12] And Iron Maiden.
[00:35:14] And like.
[00:35:14] You know.
[00:35:15] You're like.
[00:35:15] Holy fuck.
[00:35:16] Like.
[00:35:17] Why is their top 10.
[00:35:18] So much better than ours.
[00:35:19] Yeah.
[00:35:19] I never heard of me.
[00:35:20] No.
[00:35:21] You never.
[00:35:21] Like.
[00:35:22] Every once in a while.
[00:35:23] DVE would play.
[00:35:24] Run to the hills.
[00:35:25] Yeah.
[00:35:26] Like.
[00:35:27] Every once in a while.
[00:35:28] That's kind of.
[00:35:28] Throw that in.
[00:35:29] It's like.
[00:35:30] I need to hear something different.
[00:35:31] We'll play run to the hills.
[00:35:32] Yeah.
[00:35:32] And that was like.
[00:35:33] Yeah.
[00:35:34] Yeah.
[00:35:34] You know.
[00:35:34] Like.
[00:35:34] But no.
[00:35:35] Somebody got fired over that.
[00:35:36] Yeah.
[00:35:36] You never heard.
[00:35:38] Like.
[00:35:38] But.
[00:35:38] Like.
[00:35:39] In.
[00:35:39] But you never heard.
[00:35:40] Iron Maiden.
[00:35:40] Like.
[00:35:40] Almost anywhere.
[00:35:41] Like.
[00:35:41] It didn't chart.
[00:35:43] In the states.
[00:35:44] In the doors.
[00:35:45] Yeah.
[00:35:45] But like.
[00:35:46] In the UK.
[00:35:47] They were like a.
[00:35:48] A top five band.
[00:35:50] Right.
[00:35:50] Regularly.
[00:35:51] And the Zeppelin songs.
[00:35:53] You'd hear would be like.
[00:35:54] What?
[00:35:54] Black Dog.
[00:35:57] Stairway.
[00:35:57] Stairway.
[00:35:59] Cashmere.
[00:36:00] Which I still love.
[00:36:02] Whole Lotta Love.
[00:36:03] Yeah.
[00:36:06] Live and Love and Made.
[00:36:07] If they played.
[00:36:08] Whole Lotta Love and Live and Love and Made.
[00:36:09] She's just a woman.
[00:36:10] Like.
[00:36:10] Go back to back.
[00:36:11] Yeah.
[00:36:12] Yeah.
[00:36:12] But.
[00:36:13] There wasn't like.
[00:36:14] Deep cuts of Zeppelin.
[00:36:16] No.
[00:36:17] I mean.
[00:36:17] There was like five Zeppelin songs.
[00:36:18] That was on continuous rotation.
[00:36:20] Yeah.
[00:36:21] Same thing with the doors.
[00:36:23] Like.
[00:36:23] They would play.
[00:36:24] Like.
[00:36:24] Riders on the Storm.
[00:36:25] Yeah.
[00:36:26] Fuck.
[00:36:26] I hated it.
[00:36:27] I.
[00:36:27] That's one of the.
[00:36:28] That's one of the storm.
[00:36:29] That's one of the door songs.
[00:36:30] That I absolutely liked the least.
[00:36:32] Like.
[00:36:32] My Fire would always get played.
[00:36:34] Mm.
[00:36:36] Um.
[00:36:40] Um.
[00:36:42] Love and Made.
[00:36:42] Madly.
[00:36:43] Yeah.
[00:36:45] But.
[00:36:45] I mean.
[00:36:46] Like.
[00:36:46] In Floyd.
[00:36:47] They play.
[00:36:48] Comfortably Numb.
[00:36:49] Yeah.
[00:36:50] Another Brick in the Wall.
[00:36:52] Yeah.
[00:36:52] Um.
[00:36:53] Wish You Were Here.
[00:36:54] Wish You Were Here.
[00:36:56] Money.
[00:36:57] Yeah.
[00:36:58] You know what I mean?
[00:36:58] Like.
[00:36:59] There was only certain songs that they would play from Floyd.
[00:37:02] And those were the constant tracks that we listened to growing up.
[00:37:07] Yeah.
[00:37:07] We didn't.
[00:37:07] You had to buy the tape to get one to a deeper cut.
[00:37:10] Right.
[00:37:10] Or more importantly than anything else.
[00:37:12] It was like always like something off of like either a wall or.
[00:37:15] Um.
[00:37:20] The Wizard of Oz one.
[00:37:22] Dark Side.
[00:37:23] Dark Side.
[00:37:23] It was either the wall or Dark Side of the Moon.
[00:37:24] Like you never heard anything off of like.
[00:37:26] You know.
[00:37:27] Animal Farm.
[00:37:28] Like all the other.
[00:37:30] Pink Floyd stuff was like.
[00:37:32] Nah.
[00:37:32] Tablet.
[00:37:33] Yeah.
[00:37:33] And then you heard.
[00:37:34] Then like.
[00:37:35] When you got into ZZ.
[00:37:37] Right.
[00:37:38] It was always Shark Dress Man.
[00:37:41] Um.
[00:37:45] What's the other one?
[00:37:46] Well I mean it was.
[00:37:47] Like.
[00:37:48] Whatever.
[00:37:50] With ZZ I got a little bit.
[00:37:52] Cause it was like.
[00:37:53] You'd hear like.
[00:37:54] Tube Snake Boogie.
[00:37:56] Yeah.
[00:37:56] Um.
[00:37:58] There was another one from like.
[00:38:00] Pre-Eliminator.
[00:38:01] That they would play.
[00:38:02] I can't remember.
[00:38:03] But then it would be like.
[00:38:04] Legs.
[00:38:04] Sharp Dressed Man.
[00:38:05] Legs.
[00:38:06] That's what I could.
[00:38:06] Um.
[00:38:09] Basically the Eliminator album.
[00:38:10] And then even afterwards.
[00:38:11] Like the Afterburner album.
[00:38:13] Like there was a couple of hits off of.
[00:38:14] They would play on the regular.
[00:38:15] Yeah.
[00:38:16] But mostly it's.
[00:38:18] Legs and Sharp Dressed Man.
[00:38:19] Yeah.
[00:38:19] There was never like deep cuts.
[00:38:21] Yeah.
[00:38:21] And not even deep cuts.
[00:38:22] Just.
[00:38:23] Something different.
[00:38:24] You know.
[00:38:25] It was always the same.
[00:38:26] Yeah.
[00:38:27] I always remember.
[00:38:28] Just changing the radio station.
[00:38:30] I can even remember.
[00:38:31] Changing the radio station.
[00:38:32] When you had push button changes.
[00:38:34] Oh yeah.
[00:38:34] Just to get away from it.
[00:38:36] Yeah.
[00:38:38] Yeah.
[00:38:40] Yeah.
[00:38:41] It moves.
[00:38:41] Yeah.
[00:38:42] Yeah.
[00:38:44] Yeah.
[00:38:44] Yeah.
[00:38:45] Yeah.
[00:38:45] Yeah.
[00:38:46] It moves over here.
[00:38:47] Then I have to fine tune it.
[00:38:49] Yeah.
[00:38:49] Terrible.
[00:38:51] How we weren't getting into major accidents back then.
[00:38:53] I don't know.
[00:38:54] Right.
[00:38:54] It's like.
[00:38:55] It's complicated.
[00:38:57] Yeah.
[00:38:58] I just did not.
[00:38:59] I don't know.
[00:39:00] I just couldn't get into the.
[00:39:02] And that's what happens.
[00:39:04] I'd go away.
[00:39:06] And I'd get into some.
[00:39:07] A lot of stuff.
[00:39:08] Yeah.
[00:39:09] I'd hear.
[00:39:10] Depeche Mode on the radio.
[00:39:11] Yeah.
[00:39:12] You didn't hear Depeche Mode right on the radio.
[00:39:13] Unless you were listening to a college station.
[00:39:16] Well.
[00:39:16] Or Double X.
[00:39:18] When Double X existed.
[00:39:20] Yeah.
[00:39:20] For the short period it did.
[00:39:21] That's where.
[00:39:21] That's where I found like Depeche Mode.
[00:39:24] And like.
[00:39:25] All that.
[00:39:25] That type of stuff.
[00:39:27] That was like.
[00:39:28] But they didn't play stuff like People.
[00:39:30] They played stuff like.
[00:39:32] Off of Violator.
[00:39:34] No.
[00:39:34] Because.
[00:39:35] Well.
[00:39:35] Maybe Double X did.
[00:39:36] But.
[00:39:36] Double X was playing.
[00:39:38] Early mode.
[00:39:40] Because B94 was playing Enjoy the Silence.
[00:39:43] When it came out.
[00:39:44] When it became a hit.
[00:39:45] When it became a hit.
[00:39:46] Yeah.
[00:39:46] Correct.
[00:39:47] But like.
[00:39:48] B94 wasn't playing.
[00:39:50] Music for the masses.
[00:39:51] No.
[00:39:52] No.
[00:39:53] You know.
[00:39:53] Talking whatever.
[00:39:54] Yeah.
[00:39:54] Top 10 on the radio.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:57] No.
[00:39:57] Like.
[00:39:58] That type of stuff was.
[00:39:59] Like.
[00:40:00] No.
[00:40:00] We don't play that.
[00:40:01] And people were probably like.
[00:40:02] Cringing there.
[00:40:02] Like.
[00:40:02] The only time you've heard that.
[00:40:04] And even then.
[00:40:05] It was only like.
[00:40:05] In passing.
[00:40:07] Would be like.
[00:40:08] On Casey Kasem's.
[00:40:10] Top 100 countdown.
[00:40:11] Yeah.
[00:40:12] Who was the other guy?
[00:40:12] Shadow Stevens.
[00:40:13] Shadow Stevens.
[00:40:14] Yeah.
[00:40:14] Yeah.
[00:40:14] But like.
[00:40:15] You would have like.
[00:40:17] Edit number 35.
[00:40:19] Depeche Mode with.
[00:40:20] You know.
[00:40:21] Yeah.
[00:40:22] Little 16.
[00:40:23] And you get like a 10 second snippet of it.
[00:40:24] And that was it.
[00:40:25] Yeah.
[00:40:26] You know.
[00:40:26] Because like.
[00:40:27] Even like Casey Kasem was like.
[00:40:29] I ain't playing that shit.
[00:40:30] Yeah.
[00:40:30] Right.
[00:40:31] I gotta.
[00:40:31] I gotta move on to.
[00:40:32] You know.
[00:40:33] The letter of the week.
[00:40:35] Yeah.
[00:40:35] I gotta move on to.
[00:40:36] Tiffany.
[00:40:37] I think we're alone.
[00:40:38] Yeah.
[00:40:40] Dear Casey.
[00:40:42] The love of my life.
[00:40:43] Becky left me.
[00:40:44] I just wanted her to know.
[00:40:45] I still love her.
[00:40:47] Right.
[00:40:47] Despite the fact.
[00:40:47] that she shit in my closet.
[00:40:52] I don't know.
[00:40:53] I don't know.
[00:40:54] I don't know.
[00:40:56] I don't know.
[00:40:56] I don't know.
[00:40:57] I don't know.
[00:40:57] Oh my god.
[00:40:57] Could you.
[00:40:58] I think we're alone now.
[00:40:59] By Tiffany.
[00:41:00] All right.
[00:41:01] Because it was our song.
[00:41:02] I can still smell her.
[00:41:07] Yeah.
[00:41:14] There just wasn't any.
[00:41:15] Really good stations.
[00:41:17] No.
[00:41:18] Not here.
[00:41:22] And it's rough.
[00:41:23] Because like.
[00:41:23] You ended up relying on MTV.
[00:41:26] Right.
[00:41:27] As like that.
[00:41:29] That conduit of like.
[00:41:30] What am I missing?
[00:41:32] Right.
[00:41:33] Right.
[00:41:33] What are you missing?
[00:41:34] It's like.
[00:41:34] You like.
[00:41:35] Watch that second hour of.
[00:41:37] Headbangers ball.
[00:41:39] Because like.
[00:41:39] The first hour was like.
[00:41:41] The hair metal stuff.
[00:41:42] And the second hour was like.
[00:41:43] Oh.
[00:41:44] That's Metallica.
[00:41:46] That's.
[00:41:46] Right.
[00:41:46] You know.
[00:41:48] You know.
[00:41:48] P.O.D.
[00:41:49] That's.
[00:41:49] Right.
[00:41:49] I mean.
[00:41:50] Think of when one came out.
[00:41:51] I mean.
[00:41:52] That's the only thing that got play.
[00:41:54] Yeah.
[00:41:54] In Pittsburgh.
[00:41:55] That was the only thing that got play.
[00:41:56] Until the Blackout came out.
[00:41:58] Yeah.
[00:41:58] But.
[00:41:59] Nothing off.
[00:42:00] Injustice was ever played on the radio.
[00:42:02] Or.
[00:42:03] Master of Puppets.
[00:42:04] Or.
[00:42:05] Kill them all.
[00:42:06] Or.
[00:42:06] Mom.
[00:42:07] I can see why.
[00:42:08] Nobody played Garage Days.
[00:42:09] But.
[00:42:09] Yeah.
[00:42:10] I like Garage Days.
[00:42:11] But.
[00:42:11] It's not for everybody.
[00:42:12] But.
[00:42:13] What I'm saying is like.
[00:42:15] One came out.
[00:42:16] And they did play one on the radio.
[00:42:19] Overplayed on the radio.
[00:42:22] But that's all they played.
[00:42:23] Yeah.
[00:42:24] Do you know what I mean?
[00:42:25] Like there was no other.
[00:42:26] Like.
[00:42:27] How were people.
[00:42:27] I can't even imagine how people were listening to Metallica.
[00:42:30] But just by word of mouth.
[00:42:32] It was.
[00:42:33] It was honestly by word of mouth.
[00:42:36] Right.
[00:42:36] Because like.
[00:42:36] You can't turn on the radio here.
[00:42:39] Bring up Sepultura.
[00:42:41] No.
[00:42:42] Do you know what I mean?
[00:42:43] Yeah.
[00:42:43] The radio never played Danzig.
[00:42:46] Not that I like Danzig.
[00:42:47] They never played the Misfits.
[00:42:49] They never played anything.
[00:42:51] Anything.
[00:42:53] Anything to the extremes here in Pittsburgh.
[00:42:55] It was always what was.
[00:42:56] The X played.
[00:42:58] Mother.
[00:42:59] Yeah.
[00:42:59] They did.
[00:43:00] You know.
[00:43:00] I was like.
[00:43:02] Wow.
[00:43:03] That was it.
[00:43:04] Yeah.
[00:43:04] That was all you got.
[00:43:05] Right.
[00:43:06] Or if it was a slow song by a heavy metal band they'd play.
[00:43:10] But they didn't stop them in the fucking hair metal bands.
[00:43:14] They played Cinderella.
[00:43:15] They played everything.
[00:43:16] Everything from that hair band era they played.
[00:43:21] No.
[00:43:22] Not everything.
[00:43:27] Like.
[00:43:27] Don't look into deep cuts.
[00:43:29] But.
[00:43:29] Okay.
[00:43:30] Like.
[00:43:30] If you're talking like the top bands.
[00:43:32] If you're talking.
[00:43:34] Jovi.
[00:43:34] Poison Crew.
[00:43:36] Cinderella.
[00:43:37] Death Leopard.
[00:43:38] Quite right.
[00:43:38] Right.
[00:43:39] I don't put Death Leopard in that category.
[00:43:40] But.
[00:43:41] Quiet Riot.
[00:43:42] Yeah.
[00:43:44] Twisted.
[00:43:45] Sister.
[00:43:46] I'm talking early days.
[00:43:47] Yeah.
[00:43:48] I mean.
[00:43:50] Hair.
[00:43:50] Winger.
[00:43:52] Fucking.
[00:43:54] Warrant.
[00:43:55] I mean.
[00:43:56] Nema.
[00:43:56] I mean.
[00:43:57] Yeah.
[00:43:57] There's a ton of them that came out.
[00:43:58] But they're.
[00:43:58] Even the early ones.
[00:44:00] But they play.
[00:44:01] Long Cole.
[00:44:02] I mean.
[00:44:02] They played a lot of stuff.
[00:44:03] From that hair metal band.
[00:44:05] More.
[00:44:05] More.
[00:44:05] From the hair metal bands.
[00:44:07] I think.
[00:44:08] I.
[00:44:08] I.
[00:44:08] I.
[00:44:09] I will tell you.
[00:44:09] Like.
[00:44:09] I.
[00:44:09] In my opinion.
[00:44:10] Like.
[00:44:10] I don't think.
[00:44:13] I.
[00:44:13] I think there were other bands.
[00:44:15] They could have played.
[00:44:16] That didn't get.
[00:44:17] But.
[00:44:18] There's a couple bands.
[00:44:19] That I don't throw into that hair metal band.
[00:44:21] And one is Death Leopard.
[00:44:24] Death Leopard.
[00:44:25] I never considered them.
[00:44:28] Like that.
[00:44:29] I.
[00:44:29] I just never did.
[00:44:30] I.
[00:44:30] I know.
[00:44:32] I.
[00:44:32] But.
[00:44:33] They.
[00:44:33] I felt that Death Leopard.
[00:44:35] Was more musical.
[00:44:36] To me.
[00:44:37] Yeah.
[00:44:37] I.
[00:44:38] Especially.
[00:44:38] Death Leopard.
[00:44:39] I never put in that category.
[00:44:41] All the.
[00:44:42] There was a couple older bands.
[00:44:43] That tried to get in.
[00:44:44] But this.
[00:44:44] Like.
[00:44:44] Kiss.
[00:44:45] Was never part of that category.
[00:44:48] Death Leopard.
[00:44:49] Kiss.
[00:44:49] Kiss.
[00:44:51] Motley Crue.
[00:44:52] Was never to me.
[00:44:53] Hair metal.
[00:44:54] No.
[00:44:54] But it gets.
[00:44:55] It.
[00:44:55] Like.
[00:44:56] Post.
[00:44:57] Post.
[00:44:58] Makeup.
[00:44:58] Kiss.
[00:44:59] Gets lumped in there.
[00:45:01] And in all honesty.
[00:45:02] Like.
[00:45:03] Kiss.
[00:45:04] Was probably.
[00:45:05] Part of the invention of hair metal.
[00:45:07] Before there was hair metal.
[00:45:08] Correct.
[00:45:08] You know.
[00:45:09] I mean.
[00:45:09] Like.
[00:45:09] In all honesty.
[00:45:11] Like.
[00:45:12] In all.
[00:45:12] And this is no disrespect to Kiss.
[00:45:14] Or Kiss fans.
[00:45:15] Kiss.
[00:45:15] Kiss is not that good of a band.
[00:45:17] No.
[00:45:17] They're not.
[00:45:18] You know what I mean.
[00:45:19] Like.
[00:45:19] But.
[00:45:20] I mean.
[00:45:21] They're not.
[00:45:22] And like.
[00:45:22] They had a.
[00:45:23] They always have a couple good songs on the tape.
[00:45:26] Yeah.
[00:45:26] But most of it's garbage.
[00:45:27] I mean.
[00:45:27] I'm sorry to Kiss fans.
[00:45:29] Kiss Army.
[00:45:30] Yeah.
[00:45:30] I get it.
[00:45:31] But I'm just not.
[00:45:32] I mean.
[00:45:32] Huge of a Kiss fan.
[00:45:33] But.
[00:45:33] When you.
[00:45:34] When you come into like.
[00:45:36] When you come into like.
[00:45:37] They would always have a couple songs that were just.
[00:45:40] Like.
[00:45:41] Killer.
[00:45:41] Like.
[00:45:42] That would make that.
[00:45:43] Like.
[00:45:43] Heaven's on fire.
[00:45:44] Lick it up.
[00:45:46] Oh yeah.
[00:45:47] Do you understand what I mean?
[00:45:48] I mean.
[00:45:48] Even.
[00:45:49] When they came out later.
[00:45:50] When they came out with.
[00:45:52] Crazy Nights.
[00:45:53] Yeah.
[00:45:53] Crazy Nights tour.
[00:45:54] There was a couple.
[00:45:55] There was a couple hits off that too.
[00:45:57] Like.
[00:45:57] Reason to live.
[00:45:58] That was a huge.
[00:45:59] Slow song.
[00:46:00] Yeah.
[00:46:00] For Kiss.
[00:46:01] You know what I mean?
[00:46:02] Like.
[00:46:02] Kiss Revenge had like a.
[00:46:04] That had.
[00:46:06] God gave rock and roll to you.
[00:46:08] Correct.
[00:46:08] Domino.
[00:46:09] There were a couple other songs.
[00:46:10] You were just like.
[00:46:11] Oh shit.
[00:46:12] And then.
[00:46:12] Who wrote this for you?
[00:46:14] Yeah.
[00:46:15] Exactly.
[00:46:17] But.
[00:46:17] Like.
[00:46:17] Even like in the old days.
[00:46:19] Like.
[00:46:25] And then like.
[00:46:25] You go into like their deeper stuff.
[00:46:26] And you're like.
[00:46:27] Man.
[00:46:27] That's.
[00:46:28] That's no.
[00:46:28] That's no good.
[00:46:29] I mean.
[00:46:29] Detroit Rock City was good.
[00:46:30] Yeah.
[00:46:31] But it wasn't that great.
[00:46:33] Right.
[00:46:33] Like.
[00:46:33] People like.
[00:46:34] Swear by that song.
[00:46:35] I'm like.
[00:46:36] It's a good song.
[00:46:37] But it's not like.
[00:46:38] Yeah.
[00:46:40] You know.
[00:46:41] Yeah.
[00:46:41] It's not like.
[00:46:42] The first Def Leppard album.
[00:46:45] Well.
[00:46:46] I love that Def Leppard album.
[00:46:48] What are you talking about?
[00:46:49] Not the first.
[00:46:50] But the.
[00:46:51] On Through the Night or Pyromania?
[00:46:53] Pyromania.
[00:46:53] Well.
[00:46:53] Pyromania is like.
[00:46:54] It's one of the best albums ever made.
[00:46:56] Yeah.
[00:46:57] I'm going to say that.
[00:46:58] I agree with you.
[00:46:59] Like.
[00:47:00] I mean.
[00:47:00] That.
[00:47:02] 1984.
[00:47:04] Yeah.
[00:47:04] Like.
[00:47:05] 1984 was the year they came out with.
[00:47:07] On Through the Night.
[00:47:09] Yeah.
[00:47:09] And that had bringing on the heartbreak.
[00:47:11] Yeah.
[00:47:11] That was.
[00:47:11] That's a great song.
[00:47:12] Right.
[00:47:13] Like.
[00:47:14] You talk about.
[00:47:15] Again.
[00:47:15] 1984.
[00:47:16] Two massive breakout songs.
[00:47:18] For two bands that would become much bigger later on.
[00:47:21] Yeah.
[00:47:22] Bringing on the heartbreak by Def Leppard came out in 1984.
[00:47:25] Runaway by Bon Jovi came out in 1984.
[00:47:27] Runaway is a great song too.
[00:47:28] Yeah.
[00:47:28] And that's their.
[00:47:29] That's their breakout.
[00:47:30] Yeah.
[00:47:30] And we saw.
[00:47:31] The next time you hear them.
[00:47:33] You get.
[00:47:33] You're getting.
[00:47:33] And the first time I saw Runaway was on Solid Gold.
[00:47:36] And it was just him fucking lip syncing it.
[00:47:38] Yeah.
[00:47:38] Do you remember that?
[00:47:39] Oh.
[00:47:39] I remember that.
[00:47:40] It was just him.
[00:47:40] Yeah.
[00:47:40] Yeah.
[00:47:42] And here's a new artist.
[00:47:43] Bon Jovi.
[00:47:44] Yeah.
[00:47:44] And I'm like.
[00:47:45] Where's the rest of the band?
[00:47:46] And he's just up there.
[00:47:47] Runaway.
[00:47:49] But Runaway is a great song.
[00:47:50] Yeah.
[00:47:51] With the dancers dancing behind him and shit.
[00:47:53] Oh yeah.
[00:47:54] Horrible.
[00:47:54] Horrible.
[00:47:55] Horrible.
[00:47:56] Horrible.
[00:47:57] Dallas Falcon Crest and fucking Solid Gold.
[00:48:00] Horrible.
[00:48:01] Ah.
[00:48:02] It was off.
[00:48:03] But that was Destination Television for us.
[00:48:06] Correct.
[00:48:06] Because that's where you heard that shit.
[00:48:08] Right.
[00:48:08] But.
[00:48:09] Runaway was a great song.
[00:48:11] Yeah.
[00:48:12] Maybe one of his best.
[00:48:14] Because Joby got weird.
[00:48:16] Like.
[00:48:17] I.
[00:48:17] I get it.
[00:48:18] I mean like.
[00:48:19] When they came out.
[00:48:20] And they.
[00:48:21] I would have to say.
[00:48:22] Almost that.
[00:48:26] Jovi almost ruled the hair metal.
[00:48:28] In the beginning.
[00:48:29] Well yeah.
[00:48:30] Because I mean.
[00:48:30] Because you go with.
[00:48:31] You're.
[00:48:32] You get.
[00:48:32] You get run away.
[00:48:33] Yeah.
[00:48:34] It's like the breakout song for them.
[00:48:35] Yeah.
[00:48:35] And then the next album that come out was a Slippery When Wet.
[00:48:38] Yeah.
[00:48:39] And that's.
[00:48:39] Which is a monster.
[00:48:40] And then they fall out with New Jersey.
[00:48:41] Which is another monster.
[00:48:42] Right.
[00:48:42] And you could probably say Slippery When Wet is probably one of the best albums.
[00:48:47] I mean for that time period.
[00:48:49] Yeah.
[00:48:50] They had so many hits off that album.
[00:48:52] That album's ridiculous.
[00:48:53] It's ridiculous.
[00:48:54] And there's not a bad song on the album.
[00:48:56] No.
[00:48:57] Like even the ones that don't hit are like.
[00:48:59] Still like.
[00:49:00] That's some good shit.
[00:49:02] That's one of the few albums you can listen to from beginning to end.
[00:49:05] And you're just like.
[00:49:05] Yeah.
[00:49:06] I mean he's had some great songs.
[00:49:07] Don't get me wrong.
[00:49:08] You know what I mean.
[00:49:09] But he just petered out.
[00:49:10] I think he was done.
[00:49:12] Well I feel like.
[00:49:14] Because you do.
[00:49:16] You have Slippery When Wet.
[00:49:17] You have New Jersey.
[00:49:18] And then the next thing he does is like.
[00:49:20] You know.
[00:49:21] The soundtrack to Young Guns 2.
[00:49:25] Which that was good too.
[00:49:26] I guess.
[00:49:27] Yeah.
[00:49:28] I mean the problem became.
[00:49:34] Times changed.
[00:49:35] Bon Jovi didn't.
[00:49:36] Yeah.
[00:49:37] Yeah.
[00:49:37] Yeah.
[00:49:37] Like.
[00:49:37] Now you're.
[00:49:38] Because you.
[00:49:39] After you get past.
[00:49:41] New Jersey.
[00:49:42] Which I think came out.
[00:49:42] You're talking like 1989.
[00:49:44] 1990.
[00:49:45] Right.
[00:49:45] Now you're getting into.
[00:49:48] We're going.
[00:49:49] We're no longer listening to this.
[00:49:51] Right.
[00:49:51] Right.
[00:49:51] Right.
[00:49:51] You know.
[00:49:52] We're now serious.
[00:49:53] We're.
[00:49:54] We're.
[00:49:54] We're grunge.
[00:49:55] Right.
[00:49:55] Right.
[00:49:55] Right.
[00:49:55] And so when you release like a hair metal album.
[00:49:58] Right.
[00:49:59] And then you put Better Roses on it.
[00:50:01] Versus.
[00:50:03] Wood.
[00:50:04] Yeah.
[00:50:04] You understand what I'm saying.
[00:50:05] Yeah.
[00:50:06] No.
[00:50:06] I mean.
[00:50:06] And it's rough.
[00:50:07] Like.
[00:50:07] I mean.
[00:50:09] Don't get me wrong.
[00:50:10] I have a.
[00:50:10] Angry chair.
[00:50:11] Versus.
[00:50:12] Yeah.
[00:50:13] Better Roses.
[00:50:14] Better.
[00:50:15] Better Roses got me plenty of play.
[00:50:17] Yeah.
[00:50:17] Well.
[00:50:18] You know.
[00:50:19] I mean.
[00:50:20] It's.
[00:50:20] Don't get me wrong.
[00:50:20] It's a good song.
[00:50:21] But.
[00:50:22] I don't know.
[00:50:23] I still think.
[00:50:25] I know.
[00:50:26] Aside from Pour Some Sugar on Me.
[00:50:29] Because it was so.
[00:50:31] Overplay.
[00:50:32] Yeah.
[00:50:34] To this day.
[00:50:35] It's still overplay.
[00:50:35] Like you go in any strip club.
[00:50:36] That's probably the first song you're going to fucking hear is.
[00:50:39] And six times you'll hear it.
[00:50:40] Yeah.
[00:50:40] Or that.
[00:50:41] Six times.
[00:50:41] But.
[00:50:43] But.
[00:50:45] At least.
[00:50:46] Yeah.
[00:50:49] Def Leppard.
[00:50:50] Really made some good music.
[00:50:52] They did.
[00:50:54] One of my favorite songs is by them is women.
[00:50:58] Yeah.
[00:50:58] It's one of my favorite songs by Def Leppard.
[00:51:00] I give you.
[00:51:02] I mean.
[00:51:02] It's just.
[00:51:03] They just had a lot of good songs.
[00:51:05] They had good sound.
[00:51:06] They had good vocals.
[00:51:08] You know what I mean?
[00:51:09] Like.
[00:51:09] Yeah.
[00:51:10] It was good.
[00:51:10] I love Def Leppard.
[00:51:13] Especially Pyromania.
[00:51:15] Well.
[00:51:15] I mean.
[00:51:15] Pyromania is an awesome album.
[00:51:17] Because it's.
[00:51:20] It's.
[00:51:22] It feels.
[00:51:23] And it's a weird comparison.
[00:51:25] I'm sure you'll.
[00:51:26] But you'll see where I'm coming from.
[00:51:28] It feels like.
[00:51:31] Crew's first album.
[00:51:33] Yeah.
[00:51:33] Too Fast for Love.
[00:51:34] Right.
[00:51:34] Because.
[00:51:35] It's still like.
[00:51:36] Because we always talk about like.
[00:51:38] With Too Fast for Love.
[00:51:38] You come right into that.
[00:51:40] Immediate.
[00:51:41] Like that guitar lick.
[00:51:42] To start that off.
[00:51:43] Right.
[00:51:44] And.
[00:51:44] It just.
[00:51:45] It feels like.
[00:51:48] It feels unfiltered.
[00:51:50] Right.
[00:51:50] And Pyromania feels.
[00:51:53] Unfiltered.
[00:51:54] Right.
[00:51:54] It still has like a hard.
[00:51:57] Gritty edge to it a little bit.
[00:51:59] Even though it's.
[00:52:00] It's probably.
[00:52:02] Mastered very well.
[00:52:03] It's still like.
[00:52:04] It feels gritty.
[00:52:06] Right.
[00:52:07] It feels a little dirty.
[00:52:08] Like.
[00:52:08] Like Too Fast for Love did.
[00:52:10] And.
[00:52:11] Like.
[00:52:11] The next album.
[00:52:13] It does feel more polished.
[00:52:16] Right.
[00:52:17] Oh yeah.
[00:52:18] It's put together.
[00:52:19] I mean.
[00:52:20] It's really put together.
[00:52:21] Yeah.
[00:52:22] But.
[00:52:23] But.
[00:52:24] They got away from that like.
[00:52:26] Raw sound.
[00:52:27] Raw sound.
[00:52:28] Yeah.
[00:52:29] Yeah.
[00:52:29] It does feel more filtered.
[00:52:31] And I'm sure.
[00:52:32] Part of it has to do with this.
[00:52:33] The fact.
[00:52:34] The drummer.
[00:52:35] But it was produced as well.
[00:52:36] Right.
[00:52:37] Right.
[00:52:38] But.
[00:52:38] But it was produced.
[00:52:39] Better produced.
[00:52:41] Pyromania was produced by Mutt Lang.
[00:52:43] I think Adrenaline was produced by Mutt Lang.
[00:52:45] I just feel like it was just.
[00:52:47] It was a situation where.
[00:52:49] We need to overproduce a little bit.
[00:52:52] Because of the drummer situation.
[00:52:54] Right.
[00:52:55] You know what I mean?
[00:52:55] Well that's like when Metallica made their entrance into.
[00:52:59] Pop.
[00:52:59] Not.
[00:53:00] Not pop.
[00:53:01] But.
[00:53:01] When they.
[00:53:02] Mainstream.
[00:53:03] Right.
[00:53:03] And they came out with one.
[00:53:05] And everybody was like.
[00:53:06] What the fuck.
[00:53:06] And that instantly.
[00:53:08] Doubled their fan base.
[00:53:09] I mean.
[00:53:10] Sandman was the first one off of that album.
[00:53:12] Off of Black.
[00:53:13] Correct.
[00:53:14] But.
[00:53:15] That was produced.
[00:53:16] By Bob Rock.
[00:53:17] I think.
[00:53:18] Was it Bob Rock?
[00:53:19] I think so.
[00:53:20] Yeah.
[00:53:20] Yeah.
[00:53:21] And he like.
[00:53:22] Put that shit together.
[00:53:24] And I'm.
[00:53:26] And there's always that bitterness.
[00:53:28] Between the Black Album.
[00:53:29] And the rest of Metallica's.
[00:53:30] Yeah.
[00:53:31] Discography.
[00:53:31] Before.
[00:53:32] The Black Album.
[00:53:33] And there's just.
[00:53:34] So many good songs.
[00:53:36] From that discography.
[00:53:38] And then.
[00:53:38] It's like.
[00:53:39] They sold out.
[00:53:40] They became mainstream.
[00:53:41] I get it.
[00:53:41] I don't want to go into the argument.
[00:53:43] Right.
[00:53:43] So.
[00:53:43] It's.
[00:53:44] It'll last.
[00:53:45] It's like.
[00:53:47] It's like.
[00:53:48] The Crusades.
[00:53:49] It'll last forever.
[00:53:50] But.
[00:53:51] I'll just say.
[00:53:51] I think it was Kurt.
[00:53:53] Yeah.
[00:53:53] We sold out.
[00:53:54] We sold out every seat in the arena.
[00:53:55] That was Lars.
[00:53:56] I think.
[00:53:57] That was Lars.
[00:53:57] Okay.
[00:53:57] Either way.
[00:53:58] Like.
[00:53:58] I don't care if you think they sold out or not.
[00:54:02] Yes.
[00:54:02] The Black Album.
[00:54:03] Sounds different.
[00:54:04] From everything else they ever did.
[00:54:06] But is that a good or a bad thing?
[00:54:08] Right.
[00:54:09] And that's the thing.
[00:54:09] It's like.
[00:54:10] People couldn't differentiate.
[00:54:11] Yeah.
[00:54:12] Like.
[00:54:13] They wanted.
[00:54:14] The heaviness.
[00:54:15] And then they just.
[00:54:16] They just kind of grew.
[00:54:18] And.
[00:54:19] Yeah.
[00:54:19] You like.
[00:54:19] I wanted puppets.
[00:54:21] To be this album.
[00:54:23] Correct.
[00:54:24] You know.
[00:54:24] And it's not going to happen.
[00:54:25] It's just.
[00:54:25] They changed.
[00:54:26] But if you look at all their albums.
[00:54:27] All their albums are different.
[00:54:29] Yeah.
[00:54:29] They've changed.
[00:54:30] I mean.
[00:54:30] Kill Em All was raw.
[00:54:31] Puppets was more polished.
[00:54:35] Do you know what I mean?
[00:54:36] Injustice.
[00:54:37] I mean.
[00:54:37] Ride the Lightning.
[00:54:38] I'm sorry.
[00:54:39] Yeah.
[00:54:39] Ride the Lightning was still pretty raw.
[00:54:41] Yeah.
[00:54:41] But.
[00:54:42] It was more produced.
[00:54:43] It sounds better.
[00:54:44] Yeah.
[00:54:45] Puppet sounds really good.
[00:54:47] And then when you get into Injustice.
[00:54:49] That was really produced.
[00:54:50] But they took all the bass out.
[00:54:53] Yeah.
[00:54:53] Like it was.
[00:54:54] You know what I mean?
[00:54:55] Like it was.
[00:54:55] It was good.
[00:54:56] Don't get me wrong.
[00:54:56] Because Injustice is still one of my favorite albums.
[00:54:58] Yeah.
[00:55:00] So you go from Injustice for All.
[00:55:02] To the Black album.
[00:55:04] Yeah.
[00:55:04] That's a huge difference in musical style.
[00:55:08] Right.
[00:55:08] Still heavy.
[00:55:10] But not like Injustice for All.
[00:55:13] Right.
[00:55:14] Like.
[00:55:14] I felt like Injustice for All.
[00:55:16] He was pissed at the world.
[00:55:18] I mean.
[00:55:19] I mean.
[00:55:20] Other stuff he was writing about.
[00:55:21] I mean.
[00:55:22] It was kind of angry.
[00:55:23] And stuff like that.
[00:55:24] Justice was all.
[00:55:26] It was so political.
[00:55:27] Yeah.
[00:55:28] I mean.
[00:55:28] It was like.
[00:55:29] Fuck you.
[00:55:29] And fuck you.
[00:55:30] And fuck you.
[00:55:31] You know what I mean?
[00:55:32] Yeah.
[00:55:34] But when you got into.
[00:55:35] Like I said.
[00:55:36] The Black album.
[00:55:36] And the Black album produced so many hits off of it.
[00:55:39] It was just absolutely ridiculous.
[00:55:41] Yeah.
[00:55:43] Ridiculous.
[00:55:43] How many.
[00:55:44] Of how much they.
[00:55:45] Yeah.
[00:55:45] I think it was about five singles that came off of that.
[00:55:47] I think so.
[00:55:48] Yeah.
[00:55:48] Wherever I roam.
[00:55:53] Wherever I may roam.
[00:55:54] Sad but true.
[00:55:59] Nothing else matters.
[00:56:09] What else off that Black album?
[00:56:11] I understand, man.
[00:56:12] Yeah.
[00:56:12] I understand.
[00:56:13] Sad but true.
[00:56:13] The Unforgiven.
[00:56:14] Mm-hmm.
[00:56:15] Wherever I may roam.
[00:56:16] Unforgiven.
[00:56:17] Nothing else matters.
[00:56:18] Yeah.
[00:56:19] Those were huge songs for them.
[00:56:21] Yeah.
[00:56:22] I mean huge.
[00:56:23] Yeah.
[00:56:24] That was.
[00:56:25] That had all radio play.
[00:56:26] Yeah.
[00:56:27] No.
[00:56:28] I agree.
[00:56:29] But there's other songs on there that are really.
[00:56:31] Like Wolf and Man.
[00:56:32] I'm looking at right now.
[00:56:33] I'm like.
[00:56:33] That song was so fucking badass.
[00:56:36] Da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
[00:56:40] I had that echoing guitar part.
[00:56:42] Yeah.
[00:56:44] Yeah.
[00:56:44] Which is wicked.
[00:56:46] Yeah.
[00:56:46] But yeah.
[00:56:48] But and like you said.
[00:56:49] You know.
[00:56:49] You go from Sad but True.
[00:56:52] And then you.
[00:56:52] You.
[00:56:53] You compare it to Creeping Death from Ride the Lightning.
[00:56:57] It's just.
[00:56:58] It's just different.
[00:56:59] You know what I mean?
[00:57:00] Like.
[00:57:03] They slowed it.
[00:57:04] Yeah.
[00:57:04] Yeah.
[00:57:05] Like the.
[00:57:06] Well.
[00:57:06] I can't remember the name of the song.
[00:57:08] It's sad because I love that song.
[00:57:09] The one about suicidal for Ride the Lightning.
[00:57:13] Oh.
[00:57:13] Um.
[00:57:14] Fade to Black.
[00:57:15] Fade to Black.
[00:57:15] Yeah.
[00:57:16] Like that song is like.
[00:57:19] So poetic.
[00:57:20] It is.
[00:57:22] It's a good song.
[00:57:22] I mean.
[00:57:23] And you like.
[00:57:24] You listen to it.
[00:57:25] And like.
[00:57:25] You have like that.
[00:57:27] Melodic entrance.
[00:57:28] Mm-hmm.
[00:57:29] And you know.
[00:57:31] The lyrics come in.
[00:57:32] And you're like.
[00:57:33] Oh shit.
[00:57:34] This is.
[00:57:35] Mm-hmm.
[00:57:35] This is deep.
[00:57:36] And then all of a sudden.
[00:57:37] It just goes.
[00:57:39] Brr.
[00:57:39] You know.
[00:57:39] You're like.
[00:57:40] Holy fuck.
[00:57:41] Where did that go from?
[00:57:42] That's the thing.
[00:57:42] Like.
[00:57:43] I think that.
[00:57:43] Not that they lost.
[00:57:44] Maybe they just turned a different.
[00:57:46] Turned a different cheek or something on it.
[00:57:48] But like.
[00:57:49] When Sanitarium came out.
[00:57:51] Welcome Home.
[00:57:52] Yeah.
[00:57:52] From Puppets.
[00:57:53] Yeah.
[00:57:53] That's a pretty fucking.
[00:57:54] That's a dark song.
[00:57:56] Yeah.
[00:57:56] And you can.
[00:57:57] You can feel the anger.
[00:57:59] You can feel the sadness.
[00:58:00] Like when he sings it.
[00:58:01] Yeah.
[00:58:02] Um.
[00:58:03] And that just got lost.
[00:58:05] Like.
[00:58:06] It's.
[00:58:06] I don't know if.
[00:58:08] The way his life was.
[00:58:10] The way their lives were.
[00:58:11] Right.
[00:58:12] It's changed.
[00:58:13] And.
[00:58:13] That was no longer in him.
[00:58:15] You know what I mean?
[00:58:16] Well.
[00:58:16] Like I always say.
[00:58:18] And.
[00:58:18] I'll use this example.
[00:58:20] Like.
[00:58:21] I do not know how Bruce Springsteen feels now.
[00:58:24] Singing Born to Run.
[00:58:26] Right.
[00:58:27] Today.
[00:58:29] As he did.
[00:58:30] When he wrote that album.
[00:58:32] Right.
[00:58:33] Because he's in a completely different place today.
[00:58:37] Than he was.
[00:58:39] 50 years ago.
[00:58:39] When he wrote that.
[00:58:40] Right.
[00:58:41] Right.
[00:58:41] Right.
[00:58:41] And it's the same thing with them.
[00:58:43] Like.
[00:58:44] It might.
[00:58:45] It's probably a little harder to tap into that anger.
[00:58:49] After you just went shopping.
[00:58:51] At the Gucci store.
[00:58:52] Yeah.
[00:58:53] Right.
[00:58:53] Right.
[00:58:54] You know.
[00:58:54] Yeah.
[00:58:54] As compared to eating.
[00:58:56] You know.
[00:58:56] Bologna off of your hand.
[00:58:58] Right.
[00:58:59] Versus having your own private chef.
[00:59:01] Yeah.
[00:59:02] And your own jet.
[00:59:03] Yeah.
[00:59:03] Like you know.
[00:59:04] You were buying your jeans at a thrift store.
[00:59:07] In San Francisco.
[00:59:09] As compared to now.
[00:59:10] Like buying leather pants.
[00:59:11] At a Gucci shop.
[00:59:13] Yeah.
[00:59:13] So it's harder.
[00:59:15] To tap into those feelings.
[00:59:17] Because you don't feel that way.
[00:59:19] Right.
[00:59:19] Right.
[00:59:19] Right.
[00:59:19] Like.
[00:59:21] You know.
[00:59:23] Bruce Springsteen wrote songs in the 70s.
[00:59:25] And into the 80s.
[00:59:28] That probably made sense to him at the time.
[00:59:31] Like about the working man.
[00:59:33] And like Born in the USA.
[00:59:34] Like.
[00:59:34] I always hate when like.
[00:59:36] Political people use that song.
[00:59:38] Like.
[00:59:39] Born in the USA.
[00:59:40] Like.
[00:59:40] Listen to that fucking song.
[00:59:42] Yeah.
[00:59:42] Right.
[00:59:42] Listen to it.
[00:59:43] Please.
[00:59:43] Because.
[00:59:44] It's not sending the message you think it does.
[00:59:46] Yeah.
[00:59:47] It's idiotic.
[00:59:48] Yeah.
[00:59:48] Like.
[00:59:49] This is the dumbest thing you could possibly do.
[00:59:51] You know.
[00:59:52] Yeah.
[00:59:52] But.
[00:59:53] Whatever.
[00:59:55] Like.
[00:59:55] But it's still.
[00:59:56] It's like a thing of like.
[00:59:59] Well you had.
[01:00:00] The talent is still there.
[01:00:02] Why can't you tap into it?
[01:00:03] Well.
[01:00:04] Because you're not a hungry starving artist anymore.
[01:00:07] Right.
[01:00:08] You know.
[01:00:09] Yeah.
[01:00:09] You're not a hungry starving artist.
[01:00:10] And getting your break at the whiskey.
[01:00:13] Yeah.
[01:00:13] You know what I mean.
[01:00:14] The Rolling Stones haven't released a good album in 30 years.
[01:00:17] Well.
[01:00:17] Why is that?
[01:00:18] Well.
[01:00:18] Because.
[01:00:19] They're the Rolling Stones.
[01:00:21] Right.
[01:00:22] You know.
[01:00:22] That's.
[01:00:24] You don't get satisfaction.
[01:00:26] From a billionaire.
[01:00:28] No.
[01:00:29] You know what I mean.
[01:00:30] Like.
[01:00:30] You just don't get that.
[01:00:31] You don't.
[01:00:32] Right.
[01:00:33] That doesn't exist anymore in him.
[01:00:34] He is satisfied.
[01:00:36] Yeah.
[01:00:36] You know.
[01:00:37] He's gotten everything he wants.
[01:00:38] Yeah.
[01:00:39] He does.
[01:00:40] And so.
[01:00:41] It is.
[01:00:44] It's extraordinarily difficult to tap into that.
[01:00:47] And find that.
[01:00:47] And I'm always impressed.
[01:00:50] When somebody who has success can still do that.
[01:00:53] Right.
[01:00:54] Like me and Nancy always make the joke.
[01:00:58] I can't remember his name.
[01:00:59] The guy's the lead singer of Stained.
[01:01:02] Okay.
[01:01:02] I know what you're talking about.
[01:01:03] Yeah.
[01:01:03] Like.
[01:01:05] We think he does amazing work when he's being fucked over by a woman.
[01:01:09] Yeah.
[01:01:10] Like you listen to like.
[01:01:11] Stained music.
[01:01:12] And like.
[01:01:13] Wow.
[01:01:14] He is.
[01:01:15] An incredible artist.
[01:01:16] And he's being extraordinarily fucked over.
[01:01:19] Because he's tapping into those emotions.
[01:01:21] Right.
[01:01:21] But when he's happy.
[01:01:23] Now he's writing country music.
[01:01:25] Right.
[01:01:25] He's found happiness.
[01:01:27] And like.
[01:01:27] I no longer feel that way.
[01:01:28] I'm going to go do country now.
[01:01:30] Right.
[01:01:30] What the fuck?
[01:01:32] Somebody fuck you over.
[01:01:33] Please.
[01:01:34] I need this.
[01:01:35] Well.
[01:01:36] That same thing you said about Hetfield and drinking.
[01:01:39] Yeah.
[01:01:39] When he was drinking.
[01:01:41] And.
[01:01:42] All that kind of stuff.
[01:01:44] All of them.
[01:01:45] Really.
[01:01:46] You know.
[01:01:48] They kind of.
[01:01:48] He was in that mode where all those.
[01:01:50] All those dark places were coming out.
[01:01:53] Yeah.
[01:01:53] Do you know what I mean?
[01:01:54] Yeah.
[01:01:54] Like all the darkness was hitting.
[01:01:56] And that's what's reflective in a lot of his music.
[01:01:58] Yeah.
[01:02:00] But now that you quit.
[01:02:02] Drinking and you're in therapy.
[01:02:04] You know what I mean.
[01:02:06] Yeah.
[01:02:11] All right.
[01:02:11] Well.
[01:02:13] This has been an interesting conversation.
[01:02:15] Yeah.
[01:02:15] It has been.
[01:02:17] I think we'll.
[01:02:18] We'll wrap it up here.
[01:02:19] Okay.
[01:02:20] Thank you.
[01:02:20] Anything you'd like to add to the proceedings there, sir?
[01:02:22] No.
[01:02:23] I'm good.
[01:02:23] All right.
[01:02:24] Well, remember there are a number of different ways you can reach out and touch us.
[01:02:27] Like he said, it's an email.
[01:02:28] Hold on.
[01:02:29] I got to read Thad's email.
[01:02:31] Hold on.
[01:02:34] Speaking of Thad's email.
[01:02:36] First off, I'd like to apologize to Thad.
[01:02:38] I'm going to do this publicly.
[01:02:40] Last night.
[01:02:41] Everyone that's about Thad for some reason feels the need to share what he's having for dinner.
[01:02:45] And I'll be honest.
[01:02:47] I thought it was meatloaf.
[01:02:49] Okay.
[01:02:49] Apparently, it was a filet mignon in some sort of special gravy with mushrooms.
[01:02:57] Okay.
[01:02:58] And I said it looked like something that one of his disgruntled neighbor's dogs left on
[01:03:02] his sidewalk.
[01:03:03] Nice.
[01:03:05] I have an untrained eye for these things.
[01:03:07] I didn't know it was some sort of nice meal.
[01:03:12] Okay.
[01:03:12] I honestly thought it looked like meatloaf to me in some sort of mushroom gravy.
[01:03:17] I was like, yuck and yuck.
[01:03:21] So, I apologize if I offended you, Thad.
[01:03:27] I don't know why.
[01:03:29] I might start just sending like the shit I eat.
[01:03:32] Yeah.
[01:03:32] Like in our group chat.
[01:03:34] Right.
[01:03:35] Like, here's McDonald's.
[01:03:38] You know.
[01:03:39] Right.
[01:03:41] I went to five guys today.
[01:03:44] Right.
[01:03:45] Here's my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
[01:03:49] Stuff like that.
[01:03:50] Just to be annoying.
[01:03:51] Right.
[01:03:53] But anyway, Thad writes in, I'm at Penn State doing this write-in.
[01:03:59] Had a good day golfing and a nice steak dinner is being served at 730, which is apparently
[01:04:04] what he sent a picture of that I mistook for poo.
[01:04:09] I'm guaranteeing a win over Ohio State or a new, new, new, new, new, new, new.
[01:04:14] We're not going to go over that.
[01:04:17] Yeah.
[01:04:17] Good fucking luck.
[01:04:18] Right.
[01:04:19] Good fucking luck.
[01:04:22] Um, it's time for Superfan Thad's Haunted House Review.
[01:04:26] Last week, I went to 100 Acres Manor.
[01:04:29] It's one of my favorites of all time.
[01:04:31] They had you parked down by the old skating rink area and you take a not-so-scary wagon
[01:04:36] ride to the manor.
[01:04:38] Each year, it gets better and better.
[01:04:41] This year, they had a midway with carnival-style games if you wish to participate after the haunt.
[01:04:47] They also had a beer tent.
[01:04:49] Wow.
[01:04:50] Okay.
[01:04:51] Uh, during the haunt, they added a creepy hospital as their new attraction.
[01:04:56] It was pretty good.
[01:05:00] You, you're pretty detailed with mental patients screaming at you.
[01:05:05] You would have thought you were back in the port.
[01:05:08] Wow.
[01:05:10] There was even a full-size ambulance in there.
[01:05:14] How the fuck did they get that back in there?
[01:05:16] Well, I don't know.
[01:05:16] I'm not familiar with the layout, so I have no idea.
[01:05:19] Um, there was an old lady in her 80s yelling at us as we went through.
[01:05:23] She was awesome.
[01:05:25] The rest of the haunt was great.
[01:05:27] Lots of actors trying to scare you.
[01:05:28] Lots of loud, creepy music and fog everywhere.
[01:05:31] In some places, it was so dark, I just could not see.
[01:05:35] Yeah.
[01:05:36] Um, we did the VIP fast pass for $40 and we got a free t-shirt.
[01:05:41] We were actually the first group through the haunt.
[01:05:45] The scare lasted over 30 minutes.
[01:05:48] Highly recommend.
[01:05:50] Um, I don't know.
[01:05:55] Like, $40 for this feels expensive.
[01:06:00] Yeah.
[01:06:01] Now, I understand.
[01:06:02] That's a fast pass you're probably paying us.
[01:06:03] I am curious, though, what it would be for the non-fast pass.
[01:06:07] Yeah.
[01:06:07] Yeah.
[01:06:09] Because $40 just feels like a lot.
[01:06:14] It is.
[01:06:15] Yeah.
[01:06:16] I mean, I understand.
[01:06:17] He said it lasted over 30 minutes and you had the midway and whatnot, which...
[01:06:21] And that's a bonus.
[01:06:22] You got a t-shirt, too.
[01:06:23] Yeah.
[01:06:24] I mean, you know.
[01:06:26] But still, $40 is kind of...
[01:06:27] $40 seems kind of...
[01:06:28] I mean, it's like spending all that money for your souvenir cup
[01:06:31] that you're only going to use one day.
[01:06:32] Right, right, right.
[01:06:33] Yeah.
[01:06:36] No, I didn't get it.
[01:06:40] Just give me the...
[01:06:42] Yeah.
[01:06:43] Cheap, juicy thing.
[01:06:44] Yeah.
[01:06:44] Remember this.
[01:06:45] Oh!
[01:06:46] Those were the best.
[01:06:47] Isn't that a fruit punch and a lemonade?
[01:06:49] The grape drink.
[01:06:50] Yeah, and the grape.
[01:06:51] Yeah.
[01:06:52] Saved by grapes.
[01:06:52] Oh, that was so awesome.
[01:06:56] For those who don't know what we're talking about,
[01:06:57] when you go to Kennywood, the local amusement park,
[01:07:01] they used to serve these...
[01:07:02] It was like these fruit drinks.
[01:07:05] But it was like in the shape of the fruit.
[01:07:08] Yeah.
[01:07:09] Like, so it was like this little container,
[01:07:11] and it had a straw that came out of it,
[01:07:12] and you'd get...
[01:07:13] As a kid, you'd just suck that shit down.
[01:07:15] And it was like there was a fruit punch one,
[01:07:17] there was the grape drink,
[01:07:19] like lemonade.
[01:07:20] I think there was like another one.
[01:07:24] I think there was an orange drink.
[01:07:25] It wasn't.
[01:07:26] I think.
[01:07:27] I don't know.
[01:07:27] But anyway, you know,
[01:07:30] what more could a young lad need
[01:07:33] on a 95-degree summer day
[01:07:35] with 100% humidity?
[01:07:37] And then you use that...
[01:07:38] After you killed it,
[01:07:39] you used that same thing
[01:07:40] to fill up with water.
[01:07:41] Yeah.
[01:07:42] Yeah, then you go to the water fountain
[01:07:44] over in the mushroom
[01:07:45] that was tapped into the well.
[01:07:47] You get the extremely cold, tasty water.
[01:07:49] Yeah.
[01:07:51] But, you know,
[01:07:53] there I was a young lad
[01:07:54] on a 95-degree summer day
[01:07:56] with 100% humidity
[01:07:57] and no shade.
[01:07:59] Yeah.
[01:07:59] And my cheeks,
[01:08:00] my legs are chafing
[01:08:02] because they're rubbing together
[01:08:03] because I was on the log jammer
[01:08:05] and got splashed
[01:08:06] and my jeans got wet.
[01:08:09] Yeah.
[01:08:12] Well, what a wonderful memory.
[01:08:14] Right.
[01:08:19] I hate getting...
[01:08:20] I hated getting wet again.
[01:08:21] Oh.
[01:08:22] It was the worst.
[01:08:23] It was.
[01:08:24] She'd never drunk.
[01:08:25] She had swamp ass
[01:08:26] for the rest of the fucking day.
[01:08:28] The end of the day,
[01:08:29] you're like walking around
[01:08:30] at nine o'clock at night
[01:08:31] like bone-legged.
[01:08:34] Because your thighs are raw.
[01:08:36] Yeah.
[01:08:39] I can't feel anything more miserable.
[01:08:41] Yeah.
[01:08:44] Yeah.
[01:08:44] Walking around like you rode a horse.
[01:08:50] Anyway, thank you for the review, Thad.
[01:08:52] We greatly appreciate it.
[01:08:55] And...
[01:08:56] You never wanted to change
[01:08:58] because the only place
[01:08:58] that you could ever change in
[01:09:00] was that swamp
[01:09:00] by the fucking Old Milk.
[01:09:02] Yeah.
[01:09:03] That one restroom over there
[01:09:05] that was just...
[01:09:06] The black toilets.
[01:09:08] Oh.
[01:09:14] Must be the worst restroom
[01:09:16] in any amusement park
[01:09:17] I've ever been in.
[01:09:20] It could quite possibly be.
[01:09:23] Horrible.
[01:09:23] The stink and the giant fans
[01:09:25] just swirling.
[01:09:26] Yeah.
[01:09:27] All the shit.
[01:09:28] Ugh.
[01:09:28] And piss
[01:09:30] and...
[01:09:31] People would just leave
[01:09:32] their wet socks in there.
[01:09:36] Bathroom is always soaking wet
[01:09:37] like...
[01:09:38] The toilets overflow.
[01:09:40] It was an awful place.
[01:09:43] It was.
[01:09:44] And back in the day
[01:09:45] they used to have the...
[01:09:48] Towel...
[01:09:49] Towels
[01:09:50] that you...
[01:09:51] You pulled.
[01:09:52] Yeah.
[01:09:52] And you wiped your hands
[01:09:53] and the dirt just went...
[01:09:55] Like...
[01:09:55] Went round.
[01:09:55] Like a big circle.
[01:09:57] Like...
[01:09:57] Correct.
[01:09:57] Yeah.
[01:09:59] Pull down
[01:10:00] and there's a shit stain.
[01:10:01] Pull down
[01:10:02] and it's like it's not...
[01:10:04] It's the worst.
[01:10:07] It's disgusting.
[01:10:09] I'll never forget one year.
[01:10:10] Ugh.
[01:10:12] I had to go...
[01:10:15] I had to drop one.
[01:10:16] Oh.
[01:10:17] And we were at the zoo.
[01:10:18] Oh shit.
[01:10:19] And it rained.
[01:10:20] Uh-huh.
[01:10:21] And so I'm going to the bathroom
[01:10:22] and I got...
[01:10:23] Like I've got to...
[01:10:24] Like hold my pants
[01:10:26] like in an awkward position
[01:10:27] as I hover over the toilet
[01:10:29] because it was flooded out.
[01:10:32] Ugh.
[01:10:32] And so like...
[01:10:33] It's just like an inch of water
[01:10:34] I'm standing in.
[01:10:36] Ugh.
[01:10:36] And I try...
[01:10:38] Like...
[01:10:38] Poop it in the swamp.
[01:10:40] Yeah.
[01:10:40] Oh.
[01:10:41] It was horrible.
[01:10:41] And you couldn't pull me...
[01:10:42] Like...
[01:10:43] Yeah.
[01:10:43] Because your pants are wet.
[01:10:44] Yeah.
[01:10:45] And I'm trying to avoid that.
[01:10:46] You know...
[01:10:46] Oh, it was the worst.
[01:10:48] Yeah.
[01:10:49] Worst.
[01:10:52] Got to put the hand up
[01:10:54] to wipe your ass.
[01:10:55] Yeah.
[01:10:56] Yeah.
[01:10:56] I'm like...
[01:10:57] I got a hand on each stall wall
[01:11:00] to kind of like support myself
[01:11:02] as I'm in the hover position.
[01:11:03] Yeah.
[01:11:04] Like how do you girls do this?
[01:11:06] Why are there minnows in the bathroom?
[01:11:08] Yeah.
[01:11:09] Is that monkey poo?
[01:11:11] Yeah.
[01:11:12] Oh.
[01:11:13] Yeah, I know.
[01:11:15] It's disgusting.
[01:11:15] He's already blended right in.
[01:11:18] Did you take a shit?
[01:11:19] Nah, it's fucking...
[01:11:20] Why are you never doing that?
[01:11:21] Oh.
[01:11:23] Man.
[01:11:24] Okay.
[01:11:27] Oh, man.
[01:11:29] Hey.
[01:11:29] Anyhow.
[01:11:32] So remember,
