[00:00:00] and Dune, like David Lynch is doing a 1984 Dune, on the big screen again, was, it was very nostalgia filled. Was it? It was, cause like, it's one of those things that like, it's like a very vivid memory for me. Okay. Going to see that movie.
[00:01:42] Cause it was like me, you, your mom.
[00:01:45] Yeah. Uncle John, my dad, back to being you know like 11. Sure. And seeing that and like that feeling of like I knew what I was seeing was impressive like the special effects especially the sandworms was like phenomenal you know and even now like like some of the special effects like when they're flying around and stuff and
[00:03:00] doesn't hold up but like you look at you oh that's bad yeah but like the sandworms The problem becomes I've seen so many different versions of that movie coupled with the sci-fi version of Dune coupled with the new Dune coupled with having just read the book. I've got them all jumbled in my mind a little bit. I know for a fact there was so many different director's cuts and versions like what? Let me introduce you to Dude in 1984. That thing has been cut and recut and cut again. But I enjoyed the shit out of it.
[00:05:42] It's a horrible movie but it just means...
[00:05:45] I don't know why it. Yeah. Been hiking. Yeah. Walking. Yeah. That's about it. Neusch. Life's pretty boring. No, I was kidding. Not at all. But yeah, just doing that. Dieting. Yeah. So.
[00:07:00] It's my life.
[00:07:01] Yeah.
[00:07:02] Yeah.
[00:07:03] Yeah.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:05] Yeah.
[00:07:06] Yeah.
[00:07:07] Yeah.
[00:07:08] Yeah. Low fat. Right. Just the essential saturated fats and stuff. Yeah. Lean. Like even in like your water. I used to buy these like flavor packets. Yeah, I can put those in.
[00:08:21] Okay. Yeah.
[00:08:22] As long as there's no sugar in it.
[00:08:23] Yeah.
[00:08:24] Yeah, I can put whatever I want in there.
[00:08:25] Okay.
[00:08:26] Yeah.
[00:08:27] You got something like... No, I agree like yeah, that's a lot chickens about the same way. Yeah But so I had tuna and then measured out my lettuce Yeah, I had I Can have a cup of lettuce Half a cup of tomatoes. Yeah, tuna and then my fats I can add in one tablespoon of
[00:10:45] Um, cause it's like the first three or four weeks, it's like a sedentary type of diet to get your body acclimated.
[00:10:48] And then once you go, it's a five and one plan.
[00:10:50] That's what it's called.
[00:10:50] So you get, you get, you have five meals during the day snacks, like, uh,
[00:10:56] there's brownie kits and that kind of shit shakes, you know what I mean?
[00:11:03] And then you get one meal like I had tonight per day.
[00:12:03] And I think I scaled in it
[00:12:11] Now all of that wasn't just the plan because I've only been on the plan for I may have lost 15 pounds on the plant
[00:12:15] Yeah, just a lot of water weight right as well, right?
[00:12:17] but You have to drink like 80 ounces of water. Yeah, but
[00:12:23] But I clocked in at like 257 yeah
[00:13:26] gigantic fucking salad I had today was like, oh my god. Yeah, yeah, I get that. I'm full. I'm so full. I'm full all the time. Yeah. You know, so I don't know. But it's
[00:13:34] working. And I've seen people lose weight on them. Right. I mean, drastic weight. Right So there's a lot of things that you can do There's a lot of recipes that you can have that actually have a lot of food in it like the lean proteins like Like for instance eggs the egg whites, yeah and
[00:15:05] Tuna. Yeah, I mean that's a lot of fucking tuna and your egg white like three-quarters of a cup of broccoli. Right. But I can add in two tablespoons of butter as my fat. Right. So that helped with the with the broccoli portion of it. Right. Do you know what I mean? Right. So like you have to balance the cookbook and that's my goal. I'm gonna destroy this cookbook.
[00:16:24] Yeah. I mean I used to cook. Yeah. You know, I mean, if I recall correctly, the original series, I believe, were 22 episodes. Right. But they were half-hour episodes like but he was like the character that like When everything else was going wrong like let's have figured it out quick Right, right, you know and like it's one of those things like as I'm watching it like I was like so happy They got him right Cuz it would have been easy to kind of take that character and either make him like too goofy We're too serious, right, you know and and and the actor
[00:20:24] Found the that middle ground to make that character work, right? cartoon, I think the cart, even though it's children, it plays very adult themes. Okay. It's one of those cartoons that like, yeah, it's meant for like a 14 year old or a 12 year old maybe, but it plays adult and it's like, it's something you'd be able to wash
[00:21:40] together and as an adult you wouldn't be like, oh, I can't believe I'm watching this, this
[00:21:46] is horrible.
[00:21:47] Right.
[00:23:01] But anyway, yo, if...
[00:23:02] I will say, if... I bought new shoes. Nice. Yeah. Old man shoes. I got some hiking boots. Did you? Yeah. Yeah, I bought a pair of Skechers slip-ons. Oh, man. Yeah.
[00:24:20] Yeah, I decide if I'm going to be an old man, I might as well take the full plunge.
[00:24:26] Yeah? Not a third not a $37.00. No, I mean it was a nice hat but not that fucking nice Yeah hats shouldn't be that expensive to where you don't want to wear them out Yeah, get rained on shit. You know what I mean? Yeah Like it was like it was like a legit NFL You know on on field gear hat and I like this like I mean it like this is a nice hat, too
[00:26:46] their gear isn't really discounted very good. No, not their like professional gear. Yeah. You know what I mean? Their other stuff is, but not their gear. Like even the shoes. I mean, I mean, like
[00:26:51] it's, you know, I spent 60 bucks on these. They were discounted. I spent, saved $35 on my shoes.
[00:26:58] But like still like, oh, maybe it's, maybe the problem is I should be shopping at Walmart and Yeah. I mean, if they're good enough for Tony Romo, they're good enough for me. Yeah. And while I'm thinking about it, we've picked up a new listener. Okay. The Max Rebo experience is what they go by on Twitter. Nice.
[00:28:23] I want to know if they are having any sort of blood feud with Finger and Dan.
[00:28:25] Okay.
[00:28:26] You know, from... with finger and Dan. Right. It's the soundtrack to Deep Throat. Yeah. Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun. Holy hell. But what's funny is like so, like on Twitter, one of the things I always post like every other day is I guess it's this ridiculous tweet,
[00:29:40] but it always gets a little bit of traction.
[00:29:42] You know, it's, you know, when we date,
[00:29:44] it takes a three episode challenge.
[00:29:46] Give us a listen for three episodes
[00:29:47] and let us know what you think.
[00:29:48] Yeah. I was the one we talked about, there was one where I confessed I started watching like all these car YouTube videos, which I still watch, a lot of. And there were comments about it, it's like odd things, it's like, is having to jar my memory of like, fuck, what was that episode about?
[00:31:03] I hope they're enjoying themselves. to To a flash drive. Yeah, well, you know I like a simple like I get like five or six of them on there and I just take them off Put them on the flash drive That one because we weren't doing it that way back when we started this podcast over ten years ago the The way we had to do it. We actually used my phone
[00:32:22] We had an app with Spreaker that we recorded onto the app
[00:33:21] I think we were saying, and then all of a sudden, we pick up where we're, I don't know,
[00:33:23] I guess this is a, I don't know.
[00:33:26] It's probably an old computer problem.
[00:33:27] It needs to be fixed soon with a new computer.
[00:33:30] All right.
[00:33:31] So, I guess we won't get into that then,
[00:33:37] since I don't wanna try to rehash what the conversation was.
[00:33:41] Okay.
[00:33:42] I hate it when we do that, it never sounds right.
[00:33:45] It does.
[00:34:50] that drum again right but at the same time it is frustrating because I feel like a franchise should be dead and buried at this point yeah I think so too
[00:34:53] like the last movie was so fucking horrible I didn't want to talk about it
[00:34:57] on this show right you know I mean and it was a bad one the one before it
[00:35:03] wasn't to them no I mean it wasn't so I get that aspect of it but still it is like man let's just put that put that thing the bed for a while. I think the advantage of the first Jurassic World
[00:36:22] movie had was there had been such a big space and time between that and the last decades, you know? Just like turn one another one out. Yeah, I mean like they do it like in everything. Like horror movies are notorious for that. I mean like you know as great as like the original Friday the 13th and even Friday the 13th part 2 like
[00:37:42] Jason X is bad.
[00:37:45] You know, how'd you get to 10? There are a lot of turns before that.
[00:38:45] Go poorly. Yeah, you know it you reach a point in the story that
[00:38:53] It starts to no longer make any fucking sense. I'm afraid, you know and I
[00:38:57] Feel like it's the same thing like with like
[00:39:02] Some of these type franchises it but it's funny cuz there are others like, you know
[00:39:07] We laugh like, you know, oh, they're going back Trek, same thing. There's all these franchises that no matter how bad it becomes, you still go out of devotion and loyalty. Right.
[00:40:25] At some point, you have to kind of say, stop hurting me. And like it's like but like I even like okay like the predator franchise like I Went and saw the predator I paid money to see that in a theater. Yeah It's one of the few times in my life. I thought about asking for my money back
[00:41:45] Like I wanted to go to the manager say look that movie stunk Fast and Furious movie with Kaiju. I'm right fucking there. I am right fucking there See Kong may waste yeah I mean he's got like a fucking bionic arm I Didn't notice that yeah Oh, yeah, he's like a big yellow like if you look at pictures like he's like a big yellow like bionic thing that they designed for
[00:43:07] Yeah, I mean you were talking about like you know the Titans and you know King Gordia and you know everything that was involved with that and it got a little kooky but like overall and Mothra was involved there too and that was crazy but like overall it still had like a relatively like serious tone like you know they
[00:44:21] were talking about the balance betweenheimer saving non-franchised movies. He's always just saying something about saving the theaters. He is. He's a classmate coming. Yeah. Just letting go.
[00:45:40] Yeah, he's a little too full of himself at times.
[00:45:42] Yeah.
[00:45:44] Fucking brilliant, but a little too full of himself at times.
[00:45:47] But like, it's still like... into a franchise. I'm hoping somebody picks up the reins and does Children of Dune and does Dune Messiah and all the other Dune, all those books get turned into movies. I wanna see that story told on the big screen. So I'm as guilty of anybody as wanting to see an IP turn into a massive franchise like that.
[00:47:02] Yeah, I mean.
[00:47:06] And I'm sure Warner Bros is hoping for that as well. wanted all that stuff. They didn't want to, you know, they, why, why, why try to figure out our own franchise and we can just buy one? Yeah. So I don't know.
[00:48:24] Nolan. Nolan, indeed saving the world. He is.
[00:49:43] One movie at a time. He is. It'll tell you's and it's the the Beauty of Nolan taking that material and making it work. Yeah, you know shooting the shit out of it so to speak Right, you know so I mean but it is it's like But he does drive you nuts because you're just like dude. We get it. You're special we understand
[00:49:47] Shut up Superior far superior. It's far superior to Batman forever. Oh, I agree. You know, like it's Superman Returns X3 yeah, yeah there are movies Like in that in that genre around that time period that it is much better than
[00:51:02] But because it's following the dark night, right? It had such massive shoes to fill
[00:52:07] It follows on the heels of of Heath Ledger as the Joker. It falls on the heels of of that amazing to face like it it
[00:52:12] There's no way
[00:52:15] None That it could ever live up to that right?
[00:52:17] But the only way that third movie could have could have is if Heath Ledger had lived, right?
[00:52:23] Yeah, I agree You know, like so it is that thing of like Looking back at it and try to look at it with like clear eyes the problem with that movie is what it follows So but if you compare it to other comic book movies of that era, right or before it it's far superior to those movies
[00:53:41] I'm in agreement with you. Yeah, but we do look down on that movie for some reason just like
[00:54:42] It was shot differently. It didn't even look like a,
[00:54:44] there were parts that were, that looked Nolan-esque.
[00:54:47] Yeah.
[00:54:48] But there was a lot of parts in that movie
[00:54:50] that did not look like the other movies.
[00:54:52] Right, I agree.
[00:54:53] And that's what I had a really hard time digesting.
[00:54:57] Right.
[00:54:58] You know what I mean?
[00:54:59] I liked the characters okay.
[00:55:00] I didn't have a, I didn't have a,
[00:55:02] I mean, I could pick out a few things about Bane
[00:55:03] that I didn't like, but I liked Bane.
[00:55:05] Yeah.
[00:55:06] I thought he was a good villain.
[00:55:07] Right. your mind but I am trying to like your point is well taken yeah I understand about the movies that were out at that time and to what if you're comparing that to them yes it was it was a good movie yes right just wasn't a good movie for me because I was expecting more right right I understand and I didn't get more right yeah so my problem I just don't think it was a good end cap and my
[00:56:26] problems with it are always more along the lines the mask and it's the other way around right yeah yeah I get it drives me nuts is Nolan didn't understand who the character was at the end. Yeah. He wrote three good movies. The third one having a bunch of plot holes.
[00:59:03] You know, but like even if I'm getting past like the whole,
[01:00:06] Like, you know, I don't know anybody who defends X3. You know what I mean?
[01:00:07] It's a bad movie.
[01:00:09] But like, it's, The Dark Knight Rises is much better than that.
[01:00:15] You know?
[01:00:18] It's stuff like that that I look back on.
[01:00:19] It's like, man, maybe I'm a little too harsh for that movie.
[01:00:24] But still, like you said, like, the expectation was so high for what that next movie was going
