Live From The King's Seat

This week we are recording live from The King's Seat, Ian has been watching some older movies, he has some questions about why Sean likes certan things, we discuss all of the latest Star Wars news, we discuss the Steeler's playoff game and what is going on with Star Trek movies, plus so much more

[00:00:00] Music Yeah, I can't remember. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah, I watched Top Gun again. Well, I was always... Yeah. Yeah. And I watched the new Kevin Hart movie. Spy movie. Not. Is that the one on Netflix where they were crying? Yeah, they were stealing the plane.

[00:01:41] Yeah, okay. It was pretty good. It was entertaining.

[00:01:44] That did look good this year. They didn't want to watch that. in a race against time to get off the plug. I thought it was like a really well done movie that I thought was, I had very low expectations working it. Yeah, and the backstory was actually pretty good too. Yeah. That old thing in coming to terms with that, her death and then with the little girl that he was with. Yeah. The only part that I found unbelievable

[00:03:01] if they're in the whole thing,

[00:03:02] I mean, all things kind of unbelievable.

[00:03:04] Um, um, um, The Bee Beekeeper, okay at the movies. Yeah, it's perfect. No one was in there. Yeah So That was really good. I have to say like it looked really good. I got what I'd like to see that It's above a bee. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like the usual state the movies as he goes in and kicks an ass. Yeah, it takes names

[00:04:22] We all know we can do that or at least act it. Yeah

[00:05:24] And that is what they're trained for and that's what they're not only trained for. Right.

[00:05:24] You know what I mean?

[00:05:25] Yeah.

[00:05:25] So even when they think they're doing, when you think they're doing something bad, in

[00:05:30] their mind they're doing something bad.

[00:05:31] They're justified.

[00:05:32] Yeah.

[00:05:33] And they're always justified.

[00:05:34] Right.

[00:05:35] So it was very entertaining.

[00:05:37] Yeah.

[00:05:37] Like I was like, damn, this is a pretty good Jason Statham.

[00:05:41] I like Statham.

[00:05:42] But this is like 10 notches above the meg.

[00:05:46] You understand what I'm saying?

[00:05:47] Yeah.

[00:05:47] Like it's good. Yeah. So yeah, other than that, I've been doing a lot of cards. Still on the cards. I don't know. Usually I kick it by now. Yeah. Going through all the football cards now and yeah, throwing out all, 1999, 2002. Yeah. And a lot of those cards aren't like Jack. I mean, they're worth like 10 cents a card. Right. It's just not, why am I even holding on? Right. So that's what I'm doing with the folk. I started with the football because that's my favorite.

[00:08:20] Yeah.

[00:08:21] I don't know what I'll move on to the next, but yeah.

[00:08:24] So anyway, that's about it.

[00:08:27] Cool.

[00:08:28] It's all I've been doing. gotten them in they had one for them in Eastern Michigan but I thought no I want I mean if I want to anything college has to be hit yeah you know but with Charlie Pash I need them in that that lines you know for him right you know and so that, it's like, they're not really the focal point of the show, but they are the focal point of the show, right? You know? And, you know, I mean, it's supposed to be taking place the year after Godzilla, you know, the battle in San Francisco.

[00:11:00] Okay. He is the king. Yeah, you know. But there's a lot of interesting stuff to take. It really kind of like fills in the blanks of like what this odd organization is is monarch. You know, like it goes back to the beginning of it.

[00:12:21] And that's where like the interesting thing about the show is that it's got Kurt Russell

[00:12:25] in it. Like, now's the time to get in on that. And I don't mean to show and rap, well, they're not paying me to do this, but there's enough good programming on it too. Like, between, you know, you watch the entire series of Ted Lasso, the show C with Jason Momoa, For All Mankind, The Morning Show, there's enough on there now that I would

[00:13:45] say, like, I was an early adaptor of. Yeah, you wait for him You wait for him to You know to open up

[00:15:02] Like you just wait for him. Yeah, so know, there is no fluff whatsoever. It's here we go right, you know, but um, But I've really enjoyed that. Yeah, I think it's pretty good. I hope it finishes strong. I'm sure yeah Also like episode one having dare double show up And also as well this is a Disney product right yeah, it does he plus yeah, yeah

[00:16:24] That's good. I mean it's good that they're

[00:17:23] Think that the writers and actors strike through that

[00:17:29] Because like they were filming they were filming and then like it was kind of like okay. Well that's that came to a screeching

[00:17:35] And now they kind of got the pick back up and they haven't moved it out of whatever slot is it? I like I watched Deadpool this week too. That's a little too. Yeah

[00:17:42] It is it's really good

[00:17:44] I just it's funny. I know I'm going back to some of these old movies

[00:18:45] You know what I mean? I hope he goes out strong. I do. I just hope the film finishes really good.

[00:18:52] Yeah.

[00:18:53] And I don't care if Hugh Jackman's in it.

[00:18:59] I don't. I mean, I think it makes sense, right?

[00:19:03] He talks about him in every single fucking piece. It just fits into who Deadpool is. I mean, especially the opening of the first movie with just Call Me Angel. Oh, yeah. You know, I mean, that's like so well thought. I know. So, yeah. I mean, soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission, I think. Yeah. To be quite honest with you, it's just, it's just, yeah.

[00:20:21] He just, he really suit in his movies. He's in the suit. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I mean he may not be doing all the stunts, but he's He's in this like yeah, I'm fairly certain he's like I like Pedro Pascal. I don't know if it's because it came after. You know what I mean? Yeah, but my big problem with Deadpool was always... Like, he became the new Wolverine. Like, there was a time where like Wolverine wasn't everything.

[00:23:00] Like, he was like the guy.

[00:23:02] And then it was Deadpool came around and his popularity exploded. but they really really really focused on. They really just focused like every single movie and there's a Wolverine bass or Professor X bass or a Nina bass. And even when they redubbed them, redid them. Yeah, they still stuck with the same formula.

[00:24:20] Yeah, even as good as days of future past is,

[00:24:25] it's still centers around Wolverine. But it was only that he had that moment to shine and you were just like, oh, that was fucking amazing. Yeah, and I would love to see him. How good would it be to see Quicks over taking on Thanos and his army in the fucking community. He's like, amazing, right? So I don't know. I really believe it or not, he was one of my favorite parts about,

[00:25:45] especially in Days. You know. While Charles was huddled away.

[00:27:00] Yeah.

[00:27:01] You know this was just going down.

[00:27:04] Yeah.

[00:27:06] So yeah I like it. The little cardboard pieces on the hexagon board, you know, get the giant map, those all made of hexagons and you know. Like there was a lot of that that he used to do. I think he saw Dungeons and Dragons as an entry point.

[00:28:20] Like, okay, let's get you into? Because you spend every Saturday night in this basement instead of like doing what any other 14 year old was doing. Right, right. No, this is what I'm doing. Right. So, but I mean, I don't regret that either. I, you know, it's something I wish

[00:30:42] the Adam West, that happens. Really?

[00:30:43] Yeah.

[00:30:44] Because, like, it's a funny thing of like, I mean, you know, you had, you know, Superman,

[00:30:52] like the, like the 50 Superman, which was, I mean, like, it wasn't like the villains,

[00:31:02] like, the thing Batman had with Batman, it had all the villains. Okay, you know, I mean like it was like oh wow And you remember like back there was that time like that was kind of like that though You know the giant typewriters and you know the goofy traps and like you know that's what Batman was Right, you know it wasn't until the 70s when you

[00:32:23] they kind of

[00:32:27] Greatest detective the DC side very quickly. Right. You know, I can remember watching. I mean, I watched Super Friends and all that stuff, but I was a really big fan of the Spider-Man, the old Spider-Man. And I just became invasuated with the guy.

[00:33:40] Yeah.

[00:33:41] You know, my background,

[00:33:42] real quick, not take long,

[00:33:43] but my background was, you know,

[00:34:42] say Superman and say Batman. Does that make sense?

[00:34:43] Yeah.

[00:34:44] I just, I love the guy.

[00:34:46] Yeah, I did.

[00:34:48] I mean, and everybody knows.

[00:34:55] Everybody knows who like really knows me, knows that, you know, Spider-Man is the ultimate.

[00:35:00] Yeah.

[00:35:01] You know what I mean?

[00:35:02] I just, I love him.

[00:35:03] You know.

[00:35:04] But, yeah, so, I was just curious on where you know, but I never like moved past that. Like he would think like, he would think Akira would like jump start everything and be like all into it. And all that stuff. And it just never quite, I never quite got there. You know what I mean? Yeah. And a lot of people may not because they weren't mall rats like I was. But, you know, we had Operation Wolf and Double Dragon and Contra and we had all these games

[00:37:40] out.

[00:37:41] 7.20.

[00:37:42] Just to name a few. Not as much as Street Fighter did. Did you go into it with all the guns and anime? Well, then you would get me started on gun. I know. I love it. I love it. I love it. But yes, but a lot of the video games, a lot of the anime went right into the video games. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Because it was influenced by it. Sure it was.

[00:39:00] Yeah.

[00:39:01] So anyway.

[00:39:03] Like stuff like, yeah, like, like, you said,

[00:39:06] like, I didn't realize that they're like they got grainy and you're like, oh, this is bad But like it's the only way you can watch like I was watching goodzilla movies at the time like It was like in Japanese with Korea and some type nice No fucking cool was going on, but you know, I'm watching the latest Godzilla movie because of this, you know, right

[00:40:21] You know, so it was like shit like that

[00:40:24] But that shit also got expensive. Oh, yeah, you know, it was like, you know, wow, you know The two big ones that apparently John Favreau, we're directing a Mandalorian and Roku movie. I saw it. And they've announced that they're going into production with Season 2 of a SoCo. Right.

[00:41:40] Which makes sense from a story standpoint, because's like an interesting thing, because like to me, like both of those series are intertwined in a way because they have sports goes cocking to us. Right. Yeah. What's going on? There's a lot of interesting pieces of the puzzle that I look like I'm intrigued to see how they come together. Right. Yeah. I think it'll be good. Yeah. I think like, like, like, like, Favreau, Hellming a movie. Is that exciting?

[00:44:20] Yeah.

[00:44:21] What's that?

[00:44:22] Favreau, Hellming a movie.

[00:44:23] That kind of gets you a little excited.

[00:44:24] Yeah, it does.

[00:44:25] Because I trust him.

[00:44:26] Yeah.

[00:44:27] Like, um, I think it's a little bit of a, like, a little bit of a, we're gonna put you a day for loan because he knows his shit Especially by me at the lorians. He's written the book right and you know So there's a lot of like interesting like pieces like behind the scenes and treat me about like Where this is all Oh at

[00:45:40] And there was the other thing I don't other woman stand I forgive because I didn't keep article on it

[00:46:43] Like why would you come out and say like that like

[00:46:53] It kind of it just hit put me off a little bit like it's like really yeah, I don't really understand the quote no

[00:46:59] Like I like if you want to make great powerful character if you want to make her a better character

[00:47:03] I'm all for that right, you know

[00:48:20] I'm right there with you. No, for no reason. Yeah, I never understood that either. Now it's interesting we're bringing up Star Wars because I just watched the last two moves. Okay.

[00:48:21] And I do not understand why they just stuff that he had In the second movie like where are the lights of red who suddenly appeared a third movie is a bad

[00:49:41] We saw a synth rock band, you know, and it was just that whole thing of like

[00:49:47] It was a weird like There was just so much that was like just a minute because there's no connective tissue. I thought Fazma's character got fucking diminished too. Which one? Fazma. Oh yeah I'm achieving in the build of fat. Correct. And I think I agree I think there were a lot of problems with it and but there

[00:51:05] were some good moments too. There were. There was a lot there was a lot of good and be like, you know, well, I'm just gonna make, I mean, what do you see like an entire movie of like, oh, it's all women? Like, I don't know, it just doesn't make any sense. Like, I was just like, this isn't like, why are we attacking the fan base? Like, if you wanna talk, it's not toxic, fan base, pack, yeah.

[00:52:21] But like me,

[00:52:23] like, I'm a guy, I'm supporting this.

[00:52:26] Well, you know, I never felt that Star Wars has ever been gender biased. I don't. I mean, even if you go back to the original, it's like Leia is not the... Data was the one that struts. And she even says it. Yeah. Yeah. Like, I mean, if you were talking about, like, you know, where can you trace back to like a strong female character?

[00:53:41] Like, that's a good place to start,

[00:53:43] is Princess Leia in the first movie.

[00:53:46] You know?

[00:53:48] Yeah. You know Maybe at the end you kind of like She died cuz she was sad It becomes that thing of life

[00:56:20] So much like especially like from then like the gate is big like you know I feel like I'm going on something less than 24, complaining about how awful Ray was. How was it? How was it? How was it? How was it? How it was? How it was? How it was? How it was? How it was? How it was? How it was? How it was?

[00:56:21] How it was?

[00:56:22] How it was?

[00:56:23] How it was?

[00:56:24] How it was?

[00:56:25] How it was?

[00:56:26] How it was?

[00:56:27] How it was?

[00:56:28] How it was? I think it's any fans of it. It's like, what are you doing? Right, right. I always hated it. I hated it. Like if you see a girl wearing a metallic t-shirt, there's always some jag off.

[00:57:41] You're going to be like, paying five songs.

[00:57:44] Right, right.

[00:57:45] What the fuck is wrong with you?

[00:57:47] Right, right. So, I mean, it's stuff like that, but like... So, it's just like this odd, like, gate-to-teeping, like, all fans, those where you're... I'm just like, why are we doing this? Right. Like, do you need this to be your private club house that badly?

[00:59:01] What's that? Do you need this to be like your private club house that badly?

[00:59:04] Like, you know what I mean? Like, I...

[01:00:03] I think the Steelers biggest advantage has just been taken away from them

[01:00:07] With the moving the game and I understand why you're moving again The game was supposed to be one o'clock on Sunday

[01:00:09] They moved to the 4th 30 on Monday

[01:00:12] And I thought

[01:00:14] You know and it's because snow and I'm supposed to get like two feet of snow in Buffalo one Sunday

[01:00:19] Right and it's like I understand

[01:00:22] Why you did it like from a safety standpoint for still trying to execute their their game plan, which was throwing the ball with Josh Al and the wind just wasn't letting it happen.

[01:01:40] So, again, I really thought like,

[01:01:43] if the weather conditions were that bad,

[01:01:46] based upon what I saw last week in Baltimore I mean, it could still, depending on how bad the winds are, I mean, if you're talking like 20 mile an hour winds, I mean, that's still playable. Yeah. If it's 50 mile an hour winds, now you're talking. A problem. Right. You know. But, like, I honestly do believe, like, if it would have been in the snow, it would have fambered the Steelers.

[01:03:01] Right.

[01:03:02] I think so too.

[01:03:03] I said the same thing.

[01:03:04] Yeah.

[01:03:05] It's like, what plans, you know what I like about Warren? Not only is he, he has the speed, but dude has some fucking power. Oh, he does. He absolutely does. And I think, I think his power, I think a lot of his power also comes with its size.

[01:04:20] Yeah, his center of gravity, yeah, is like really good.

[01:04:24] So when you see that, when you see that stiff arm, I don't know. Gain a thousand yards a season? Yes, I do. Because the thing I like about him is he could break it. Right. And he's got moves. Does he have moves like Sanders? No, he does not. But does he have moves? I like him as an all-around bag. I like the bell cow.

[01:05:40] I like nojisabear bell cow.

[01:05:43] And I like, Warren has a thousand all-purpose. The last game has to fall a little bit, you know, depending on the condition, you know, on Monday, it's gonna fall a little bit on Mason Rudolph's shores, and I'll be allowing me that makes me nervous. Well sure, it makes me nervous. But he's had good numbers going into this game. Right. So we'll see. Right. And he played well with this. That's the first positive thing I probably ever said about Mason. Right.

[01:07:00] Like, I mean, it just, like, it pisses me off when you hear all these people like, oh, well, he, you know, he should be QB Well, they end on Mondays. I hope it ends in the Super Bowl. I hope so too. So one last little piece of nerd news They announced they're gonna be doing a Star Trek movie, I know I saw like decades before

[01:08:23] Kirk. Oh, really? Yeah, okay. It was it's good. We heard about a guy who directed on Star Trek and science fiction fan. But this is supposed to take place like decades before Kirk in the the Kelvin universe. Okay Like I'm all for

[01:09:41] Something like that like I

[01:09:44] Need a star trek. Yeah, I know you know like I think they've something you could do with the properties you already have? Right, right, right. Like, two weeks, can we do a strange new world movie? Right, right. You know what I mean? That would be awesome. I agree. I agree. I agree. Like, it's just this odd thing of like,

[01:11:01] like, it's almost like they're saying, like,

[01:11:05] okay, we can't get this shit together.

[01:11:06] Let's try something else. Yeah. I mean, they were young, they weren't wearing hair pieces. You know, right, Spock wasn't in a robe. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? I mean, I would have milked that shit to the end of the earth. Yeah, I know. I mean, you had a really good cast. Yeah. In those films. Yeah. And he sounded like a Scotty, it was phenomenal.

[01:12:20] And you fucked that up.

[01:12:21] Yeah, bad.

[01:12:22] That's a bad, I mean, especially like,

[01:12:26] the structure beyond was so fucking good.

[01:12:28] Yeah. Yeah, you just jacked it up. Yeah It doesn't make sense no Anyway But it does excite me that they're trying to do something like I hope it's good I go hopefully you know, I don't know how far back they're going they're saying decades, but I mean like How far back can you go? Yeah?

[01:13:43] You know I Gotta be interesting to see and set you boys straight. Well, whatever. But I'll give you my answer. Maybe yours is a little different by Percy Jackson, but I'm tired of

[01:15:03] like,

[01:15:06] these.

[01:15:08] What's that? I'm just done. Okay. There's been too much of that. It's an oversaturated market. You know? And it holds no interest in whatever. So why do I love? There's a lot of other things I'm giving my time to. This test is not one of them.

[01:16:20] Okay.

[01:16:21] No, Ellie loves them.

[01:16:24] Okay.

[01:16:25] Which makes sense because she's in that age frame. I mean, I understand where you're coming from. Right. But at the same point, you know, as a father of a teen, you know, I understand her excitement on things. Right. I'm not even saying it's a bad show.

[01:17:40] Because she dissed the movies.

[01:17:41] Right.

[01:17:42] Because they didn't follow the book.

[01:17:44] They did not.

[01:17:45] And like, she liked them, okay.

[01:17:47] But they didn't follow the book. Right the 500 dozen and as for me, I do find it interesting because I like Greek mythology, right? So a lot right not because of clash of the Titans Just because I've studied right I like Greek mythology Greek, right? Yeah, it's great Sorry, I think about that for a second. Yeah, but I do like you know and so when I see these characters come to life

[01:20:03] that they've never seen before. And so anybody that catches onto that,

[01:20:06] I'm good with that, as long as they read up on it.

[01:20:08] Right.

[01:20:09] You know what I mean?

[01:20:10] So that's my intake.

[01:20:12] Right.

[01:20:12] I mean, I'm not this, you know, I'm saying it's horrible.

[01:20:14] It's just at this point, I'm just not interested in it

[01:20:17] because I'm just not interested in it.

[01:20:21] I get it.

[01:20:22] Yeah.

[01:20:23] So that's the veranda.

[01:20:24] Yeah.

[01:20:24] You know, if you're interested in it, like, good for you.

[01:20:26] Enjoy.

[01:20:27] Yeah.

starwars,startrek,
