Cutting The Cord

This week Sean gets a new toilet and cuts the cord, we discuss going to a preseason football game, Sean has reviews of the new season of That 90's Show, The Union and Batman: Caped Crusader, we discuss the cancelation of The Acolyte, a possible Pacific Rim TV show and the new Tron movie, plus so much more

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And welcome to episode 584 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean.

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm Ian, and this is the only podcast that says...

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_02]: From the dawn of time we came, moving silently down through the centuries, living many secret

[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_02]: lives, struggling to reach the time of the gathering, when the few who remain will battle

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: to the last. No one has ever known we were among you until now.

[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_02]: No one has ever known we were among you until now.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_02]: A little highlander for you. How are you, sir?

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Good. Yeah.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_02]: You hanging in there cute?

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't complain too loudly.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Nah. Nah, I had a... Nancy would tell you it's a life-changing moment, but

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not that big. But we got a new toilet.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. That's your life-changing moment?

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, here's why. So the toilet was running, and I've tried to fix it.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I replaced the fill valve, I replaced the flapper. The next thing that needed to be fixed was the

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_02]: thing the flapper comes down on. It wasn't creating a seal. So the toilet's been running,

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and my water bill has been extraordinarily high. So I've reached a point where that

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: thing that needs fixed is beyond my level of expertise. So I called my landlord and said,

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_02]: toilet's running. I've replaced this and this. I think this is what's next, and I can't do that.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how. I don't have that level of expertise. He's like,

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, yeah, sure. I'll come on. I'll get it done. Okay, great.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So he comes out, and he's like... I show him what's going on,

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and I show him that I replaced this, I replaced this. And he's like, okay, okay. Well, he's like,

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, this looks like this is going to be difficult. These bolts are looking pretty

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: rusted. Because apparently to replace the thing that the flapper seals on, you've got to take

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: the tank off. And he tried for a bit, and he came to me and he goes, screw it. I'm just

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: expecting that, but I'll take it. So now in my last apartment, they had to replace the toilet

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_02]: there as well. And that was like toilet El Chippo. And it was like... The guy was even

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_02]: saying, yeah, I hate doing this because you've got a heavy flow toilet and this meets certain

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: requirements. So it's a low flow toilet and... Sure.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, whatever. You guys just got to do it. But it was still like just a basic toilet.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And again, so I wasn't expecting anything fantastic or anything. Not that this toilet's

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_02]: fantastic. This isn't... But it's like a hotel toilet. It sits up higher. So when you sit

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: on the throne, you're not sitting as low as low to the ground, which is nice. But also

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_02]: instead of having a handle, it has two buttons. Okay. One button is for like a lighter flush and

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: one is for a heavier flush. Okay. Strange. Okay. Yeah. But like, I mean, you know,

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: you drop that deuce and you're just like, man, I need a little bit more water hitting button

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: number two. Nice. You know? Like button number one, there's going to be some left behind.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I hit button number two. I need the full tank. Well, the first button only gives you

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_02]: like a half a tank of flush. So yeah, he puts it in. No big deal. I'm like, yeah,

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: thanks a lot. Appreciate it. You know, I'm sorry, sorry you had to replace the toilet,

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, it sucks, but yeah. And he's like, yeah, no problem. You know,

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_02]: we're gonna get it taken care of. Takes the old toilet out and we're done with it.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Nancy immediately, he's not even down out of the driveway. Nancy's like running

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: upstairs to like see the new toilet. Okay. And she is squealing like a school girl.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Now I'm thinking like, she's like, you gotta come over here and see this. You gotta

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_02]: bidet. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Like we got a bidet. That would be life-changing.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be like, yo, let me tell you about the bidet. But no, and it's like,

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: it's cool when it's interesting. Now you have to, what's the story behind the bidet?

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like you just, you know, I've never actually used one, but it's like that thing of

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: having water shot into my rectal region to clean myself would be nice.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I think everybody would agree with that. But still it was just that thing of like,

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_02]: she was just so fascinated by the two button system. Okay. You know, and I was just like,

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, it's cool. And I'm glad we have it. And you know, I'm gonna miss having a,

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: like a few times where like I've gone to, I'm looking for the handle. Like, oh, that

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: button button, you know, and like, you just like, you pushed it and you wouldn't even

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: think like you have to hold the button down or something. Like you just press and release

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: it takes care of itself. Yeah. Trap is clean. Exactly. The trap is clean.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_02]: That's cool. Yeah. So that was like my excitement for the week was we got a new toilet,

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_02]: you know? Yeah. Nancy's happy as a clam. I thought you went running up there to deuce.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_02]: No, no. Excited. Yeah. I'm so excited. I got a poop. What is happening? She is the cat.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Sabine is playing with the bag grocery bags. So yeah, just out of some of that,

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_02]: what AMSR or whatever that's called. I don't know. Like you do like, it's like,

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: you do that like with like, I see on YouTube a lot where it's just like it sounds.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: People find that soothing, like listening to like certain sounds. You know, I've used it

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: like once or like, I guess like white noise is considered that now, I guess, or like,

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, like people who like sit there with like the thing that like makes it sound like

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_02]: it's raining and stuff like that. I guess I've actually used it once or twice, but I've used

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: the sounds of Blade Runner. Really? Yeah, like you get the sounds of like the street mergers,

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: but also like a little bit of like in the back or like a little bit of like that Vangelis

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_02]: like synth noise. I think I can fall asleep to this. Okay. You know, this will help.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: If I don't do that very often, I could think of maybe three times in my life I've done

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: that. Really? Yeah. Just you need that little something extra to help you.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. I'm not quite sure, but that's a combination because it's like it's rain

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's like the street sounds from like Blade Runner. It's like you got like somebody

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: like yelling in Chinese at one point or something, you know, whatever is going on like on the

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: like. So you got like the rain and like the street sounds and then that little bit of

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Vangelis kind of synthesizer and I'm like, oh yeah, that's nice. That's nice. You know.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm tired. Well, you're a man on the move, man on the go. Yeah. How was the experience going

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_02]: to the skill game last week? Boring. Yeah, it was. It was boring. I have to say. Yeah.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it was okay. Just I don't know. Maybe I just wasn't into I don't know.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I think being a preseason game and. No, I know. I mean, it's not good at all. No,

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_02]: they don't. But like, you know, last year at this time, we were talking about how amazing

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Kenny Pickett looked. Yeah, you know, and boy, were we wrong, you know? Yeah, we kind of talked

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_04]: about that a little bit too. Like, you know, they would have thrown for four touchdowns

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: in this game. We would have been, you know, screwed. Well, like it's become that thing of

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: like I don't trust anything I see in the preseason anymore. Yeah, like last year,

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_02]: and you've seen it in years gone by too, like where you'd watch the team play and you'd be like,

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if we got it, you know, and then they'd come out and it looked much better come

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_02]: come regular season. Right. Or, you know, wow, they look really good in the preseason. And

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: they, you know, the first three games are shit in the bed. Yeah. So it's like it is that

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: thing of like, I've known all my life that the preseason doesn't tell you anything. No,

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_02]: but last year for some reason, I guess just because I'll say this, because I wanted to believe in Kenny

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Pickett so bad. I wanted to see him develop that I bought into what I was seeing. Right. And

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: then you found out later on, it was just, you know, smoke and mirrors. That bums me out,

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, because I'm a fan. I wanted to see him succeed. It didn't happen. Right. And I've

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_02]: moved on now, but this year I'm looking at it and you know, I can't say from what I've seen,

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, you know, boy, I trust this or I try. There have been some things I would say like,

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, that's why Justin Fields got traded to us. You know, this is why Chicago gave up on

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_02]: this guy. And I've seen people make excuses for him. But like again, overall, I'm not making an

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_02]: judgment just because it's the preseason at this point, right? You know, until he actually

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_02]: functions in a real game. You know, I can't get excited for either quarterback. Russell Wilson

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: didn't play very well. Justin Fields hasn't played very well. Like I'm just not, you know,

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_02]: oh my goodness, oh my goodness. It's, you know, we'll see come week one. We'll see

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: week three. Like, you know, it's going to be how does the team look when it really counts?

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Yeah. I don't know. I just couldn't get into it. That's all. Yeah. It's preseason.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a different vibe there anyway. It is because the stadium is half full.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. And none of the season ticket holders are there. So yeah, it's different.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like people who like, you know, this is my first time in

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_02]: this field. You know, not that's a big deal. It's just, no, but it is a different vibe because

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: it is like one. I'm not trying to sound snobby or anything. No, no, I get it. Cause it's like

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_02]: number one, like by the time you get to the third quarter, the guys you're watching are

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: probably going to be bagging groceries. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like that you're

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_02]: watching a lot. A lot of the game is being played by guys who may or may not make the

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: correct, you know, so it's very tough to like invest in those players. It's like,

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_02]: well, how many of you guys are really going to be here come week one? Right. You know,

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_04]: then I guess that's what's hard. You know what I mean? Yeah. Cause you know it.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying? No, cause I've been the preseason games too. I've been the

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: two in my life and both times it was like, no, I mean, both times I went though, it was

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_02]: that was when they were still playing four preseason games. And that third preseason

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: game was kind of like the starters played until like the third quarter. Right. And so like

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the, like the one game I went to it was against green Bay when far was still there.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh wow. So I got to like watch far play, but still like even with that, it was kind of like,

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, he's not really like if this was a regular season game, he probably wouldn't

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_02]: have made that throw or he wouldn't have. He probably may, he may have run, but he took a sack

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_02]: here because he's not looking to get injured, you know? Right. Like it was like that. Like

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_02]: you could tell like he was like, it wasn't a full on effort by like Brett far, like he would

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_02]: see in a regular season game. So it was a stealers, like, you know, you can see like

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Ben was like, you know, it's just throw this one. Yeah. Let's see what happens here.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not looking to get fucked up today. Yeah. So this isn't do or die here. Right. So

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I get it. Like pre-season definitely has a much different vibe. Yeah. Like it just doesn't feel

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: the same. Nothing on the line. Yeah. I mean, from a fan standpoint, I mean, from the player

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: standpoint, like those guys playing in the second half, like they are fighting for a job.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: That is the biggest game of their lives. Yeah. You know, but it is tough to kind of buy into it.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. From a fan standpoint, it's the being random. Stop it. My goodness.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Who's all about getting in this stuff? She is. She won't. She that's her MO.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_02]: She loves getting into shit. Really? Oh yeah. Yeah. Like I've told, I think I've told like,

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, I give her treats. Like when I get done with work, I give her treats. I clean the

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: litter. Yeah. Well, she thinks she should get her treats at eight o'clock and she will knock

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_02]: shit over. She will get up on my desk and, you know, knock something over. Like she is just

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_02]: ordering. It's like what she is right now. Like she just gets in the stuff until

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: you shoot her with a Nerf dart in the body. Well, never, never at the face, you know,

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_02]: never to the face. I'm not cruel. It is a Nerf dart. I mean, it does nothing to her.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_02]: You have a Nerf gun here? I have, it's just a one shooter, like a one shot. I got like two,

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_02]: two Nerf bullets and it's like a little pistol, like one shot gun. And it's just

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: conveniently placed. Yeah. Conveniently placed so I can shoot her when she's bad.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Nice. And then she plays with the bullet. Nice. Yeah. She plays with the dart. She's like,

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_02]: come on. Respect the discipline. Not at all. Not at all. None. Did not affect her in one,

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_02]: in one day. Yeah. So the other thing I did today. Okay. Well, it's been almost two

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: weeks on Monday. So when this is out, it will have been two weeks. I cut the cord. Yeah.

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And we didn't talk about it on here. So I have cut the cord with cable and I'm only

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_02]: getting internet from Comcast now. Okay. So I had to go today and I had to return

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_02]: the two receivers that we had. Oh. Which isn't that bad because I go to like,

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I went to the Monroe, I went to Monroe, they have an Xfinity store.

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh huh. And so I mean, I go to Monroe, it's right there near the Target I go to. So it

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: wasn't that big of a deal. Like I went, went to Target, got my stuff, went over to the Xfinity

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_02]: store, dropped that stuff. But it's like interesting. It's like, cause it's like,

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_02]: it's that thing of like they're set up like an AT&T store. I know. I've been in there.

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't know why I was expecting just like a basic space with like a counter that you go to

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_02]: and that's it. Like, no, like they're set up like a, like, like you go to like a, your,

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_02]: your cell phone store and stuff. And I'm just like, this is weird. Yeah, it is weird. You

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_02]: know? Yeah, I've been in there. And then they tried to upsell me on, you know,

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_02]: would you like to get like a Xfinity mobile? I'm like, no, no. Just take my shit. Yeah.

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Gave me a receipt. So I can prove like if they try to charge me for it. No, I have a receipt.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I was just like, I like walked in and like, and like somebody right there like,

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Hi, how are you? How can I help you today? You know, like kind of handful of receivers.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_02]: What do you think I'm doing? Right. But it was a very, I mean, the woman was very pleasant

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: other than like, you know, she's like, well, would you like, have you thought about trying

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: to get Xfinity mobile? I'm like, well, I just upgraded myself. Oh, so you're in a contract

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of like, yeah, I am. Yeah. Just, just upgraded. Right. You know, so, so that was

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_02]: but I got to tell you, like, I'm not missing cable at all. No, no. Okay. Like,

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_02]: there was only one thing I watched on cable and that was AEW wrestling. Right. And

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_02]: in all honesty, like I can get the majority of what I want to see from those shows on YouTube

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and Twitter and stuff like that. I can see the show. I miss out maybe I miss out on a whole match,

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: like, you know, but overall I could still get the storylines and what's going on and

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff like that, which I'm fine with. Like, and it's, it's that interesting thing of like,

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: like, I get that the funny thing becomes is it's like, I'm asking myself like, well,

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: did you hold on to it for so long now then? Yeah. Like, because based upon my viewing habits,

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: like it does look like looking back at it, it's like, you should have done this two years ago.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. Because based upon my viewing habits, there's nothing on conventional television I

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: watch anymore. Right. No, I know. I get it. Like, I don't, I think it was just that

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_02]: insecurity of like, there's a security blanket of having it. Right. There is.

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm at the, I got at the point now and me and Nancy talk, we're talking about it.

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And she asked me, she's like, you know, like, why, why are you still subscribing to cable?

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Like everything that's nominated for an Emmy award was damn near everything was from a

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_02]: streaming service. Right. Like, so if like the top shows and I'm like, well, how much

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_02]: you watch off of regular TV? It's like, there's nothing I don't watch on regular TV. I can't get

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: off of a streaming service. Yeah. Like Survivor, Big Brother. Like other than that,

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_02]: we're not watching like prime time TV on CBS. Right. You know, we're not watching

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_02]: prime time TV on NBC, but everything we're watching is via streaming. Right. So

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_02]: like when she hit me with that, that's when it kind of like,

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I think I was part of his like, well, how much does Nancy watch? I don't know. Well,

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_02]: based upon her telling me like there's nothing I can't watch. It's not on a streaming service.

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Like what the fuck am I doing? You know, but I feel like it was just,

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_02]: it was like a security blanket. It was like, well, if streaming fails,

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I still have cable. Right. You know, but it's clear

[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_02]: that it's the other way around. At some point, cable was going to fail. Yeah. Basic TV is going

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_02]: to fail and streaming will be the way to be. Yeah. You know, so, so I cut the cord and

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm shocked and not shocked that I don't miss it. Okay. Like I guess it's a

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking of myself, well, something's going to come up where it's like, well,

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I have to have this. Well, I was like, no, because like, if you really think about it, Sean,

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_02]: anything that's on these channels, you can find a way to watch. Right. And all honesty,

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_02]: like, yeah, you can. I think my only concern I have to look and see is any Steeler game is

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_02]: on Fox. Yeah. And I mean, at worst, I wind up buying an antenna. Yeah. You know,

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_02]: digital antenna, connecting that to the TV and that's that. But other than that, like,

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_02]: there's nothing else that's going on that I'm like, well, how am I going to watch that?

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. You know what I mean? So, so that's been a relief and you know,

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_02]: see how it goes in a couple of months, but I feel fine about it.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Good. I'm glad it's working. Yeah. Yes. That if anything is a life changing event,

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_02]: cut the cord. It is a life changing event. And like, I was like figuring out I was doing

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_02]: the math. I'm like, well, I'm only saving X amount of money. And then I thought to myself,

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_02]: no, you're saving more now because you were already subscribing to all that shit. Right.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, I was already subscribing to Netflix and Paramount Plus and Net and Hulu

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and Disney Plus and Max. Like I was like, I was already paying for all of this. Right. So

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not well, I, you know, I'm adding this to what I'm losing. No, you are, you're,

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_02]: you're paying less because you already had all this stuff. Right. So rejoice and be thankful.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. You know, so. Watch anything? I did. I watched season three of that, that 90 show.

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. I love that show. Yeah. It's amazing to me, like going into the third season,

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_02]: how they have found the way to kind of capture the feel of that 70 show.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. But updated. Yeah. If that makes any sense. I mean, it's not taking place in the

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_02]: past. I mean, it's taking place in the mid to late nineties, right? But still it's that,

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that thing of like the show I really, really enjoyed here and like, how often do you see a

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_02]: spin off of a TV show where you're like, well, that's phenomenal. Yeah. That's what this is.

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's, it's very, very good. And, but, you know, it, but it captures that same feel of

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_02]: the original show, which I like a lot. Yeah. So I highly, I get, if you, if you enjoy a good

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_02]: comedy, I highly recommend that 90 show. First off, go watch that 70 show. If you haven't watched

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_02]: that yet and then if you haven't, if you have, then go watch that 90 show. Cause it's just as

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_02]: good. It really is. And I watched a bad movie called the union. Okay. It stars, uh, Mark Wohlberg.

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's new. Huh? It's new, right? Yeah. It's new. Mark Wohlberg and, um,

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Halle Berry. Yeah. It was bad. It was bad. It's a Netflix movie. Yeah. It's an action movie.

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And like the whole concept is, is there's this secret spy organization

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and their whole gig is not that like they go and they get these, you know, Harvard educated

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: like, like, like where you typically get spies from, like they're like,

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_02]: no, we get to working now. This is all people who like, you know, they work construction.

[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_02]: They're the labor backbone of the countries. And, you know, we, so we have a group throughout

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_02]: the world that we can utilize because they're, they're, they're plugged in. Yeah. And they,

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_02]: well, like the whole, the whole cause of the movie is that there is this, uh,

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_02]: computer that gets stolen, that has a list of every spy in the world. Okay. Like no matter

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_02]: what country like U S you know, MI six, MI five, like Germany, like everybody has a spy

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: organization. They're listed. Right. And, you know, so of course terrorist organizations

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_02]: around the world would pay hundreds of millions of dollars to get their hands on this.

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Mm. So the, the union decides, well, we've all been outed. So we need to get somebody from the

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_02]: outside and Haley Barry's character dated Mark Wahlberg's character in high school.

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, well, I think he's the perfect candidate. Of course, of course. Cause he was

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, in high school, he was an all star athlete. He, he works on, you know, high

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_02]: rises and bridges. Like he's an, you know, um, a steam fitter, you know, so he's up on,

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, balancing himself on beams and up in high places. Like, and it's like, what?

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And then it's like, well, we've got two weeks to make you into a spy.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And like there's a part of me is like, okay, I'm going to suspend this belief

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_02]: and go with this. Like, and I was like, and the movie's okay. The movie's okay. The movie's

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, and you get to the car, the big car chase at the end.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The bad guy is driving what looks like a 2000s Porsche 911 GT. Okay.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Halle Berry is driving. I don't know what type of car it was a Ford of some type.

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It looked like it had a rear rear mounted engine. It was probably a performance car,

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_02]: but not nearly as performance as the Porsche, the Porsche and Mark Wahlberg is in a shit box.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Like an absolute shit box that even though it was a manual,

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I guarantee you it was only a four speed. And if it got to 80 miles an hour, I would be surprised.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Right? Like it was just a shit box of a car. Right. But yet he is keeping pace

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_02]: on the twisting and turning mountains with the Porsche and the Ford. And I'm just like, okay,

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_02]: like you've lost me. Like, I don't care. Cause at one point the bad guy says to Halle Berry,

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I've got the better car. Right. And she goes, you know, it has nothing to do with the car.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Everything to do with the driver. So even if you believe that, which I do to a certain extent,

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_02]: the shit box should have never caught up to them. Right. Ever. Never. Not even close.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. And like, I hate to say this is what like this, but this is when like my, my,

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_02]: complete and delusion of like trying to buy into this movie ends. Right. Because

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: not only would he be, not only would he not be a good enough driver to catch up to them,

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_02]: it was two weeks of like spy work, spy work training, but also the car was so bad. Like I

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_02]: don't care if you had, you know, Dale Earnhardt himself behind the wheel of that car. It wasn't

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_02]: catching up. Right. You know, it just wasn't happening. Right. Dale Earnhardt would have

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_02]: out of that car and found something else. Right. You know, but yeah, it was, it just, it wasn't

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_02]: like even when you get to the, it was just, it just wasn't a good movie. I was just like,

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say I was bummed out because I had zero expectations for it,

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_02]: but I just expect something better from, from Wahlberg. Yeah, I guess.

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean? Like, I don't know. Like it's an odd thing of like,

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he could do better work. Well, it was payday. Yeah, probably. I mean,

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure it was. I'm sure that like, you know, it's, it bought him a very nice,

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, vacation home somewhere. Yeah. You know, but I think the thing was it had,

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_02]: it had like a really good cast. It had him and Haley Berry who I like.

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_02]: She's done some good stuff over the years. It had J.K. Simmons in it.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Not a good person. Great actor. Yeah. You know, it had

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_02]: um, Jackie O'Haley, right. Who is absolutely wasted in this movie. Is he? Yeah. Like,

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_02]: the total amount of screen time he gets, I was just like, really? You bring him in for this?

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. Like I get like Jackie O'Haley is not a big star, but he's a guy like,

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_02]: he could do very good work. Right. You know, I refer you back to not only Watchmen, but

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Shutter Island. Yeah. Like he was amazing at Shutter Island and, but like, you know,

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_02]: come on, let that man flow a little bit. You know, oh, she, you're pissing her off.

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so. She's just playing. Yeah. She's just playing until she lights you the

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_02]: fuck up. I know she's ready. So those are the two things I watched this week. Have you,

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_02]: watched anything? No, no, no, not this week. I actually did. I watched,

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I've been watching the Umbrell Academy. Okay. But I've forgotten a lot of the last season.

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm replaying that season and rewatching that season. Yeah. Before I start with,

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, the new one. No, I get that. That is something that,

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_02]: because it's been a while. It has. I mean, it's been more than a,

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_02]: it's been, I think more than a year since the last season.

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it has been. Yeah. So I'm playing catch up on that.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I think so. Yeah. Been good so far. Yeah. Because I remember the,

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_04]: when they went to the house and then he hallucinated about the foot loose thing.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_04]: You remember? Yeah. The dance sequence. Yeah. Yeah. And it was all good and that whole fight

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_04]: team was excellent. Yeah. Really good. Interesting characters. You know what I mean? So,

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_04]: but I had forgotten, I had forgotten all about it. So I rewatched. The Sparrow Academy and

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah. Yeah. So, but so far it's been pretty good. Yeah. I mean, I remember, you know,

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_04]: the JFK thing and all that happening. I just don't. Yeah. And I remember dropping in on

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_04]: the Sparrow Academy. I remember a little like pieces come in here and there for some reason.

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So. Yeah. Remember rewatching that and then I'll watch the last season. Yeah. So yeah.

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe anytime. Yeah. Yeah. I'm probably gonna have to do that once they get around to

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the final season of Stranger Things. Yeah. Yeah. It's been a while. Yeah. How long has it been?

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's already been a year and a half to two years. Yeah. It's too long. I feel.

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think part of it, I wonder if part of it is like just trying to secure down some

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_02]: of these actors now. Yeah. Like, you know, she, the girl has gotten very popular. She's

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_02]: doing stuff. Right. What's his name? Yeah, the guy who's a sheriff. He's very popular now.

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. He's doing things. I mean, I know he was filming the Thunderbolts. Yeah. When I know

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Reiner just did Beetlejuice. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean like, you know, maybe that's it.

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_02]: The one kid was doing Ghostbusters. You know, I mean, it, you know, as they've

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_02]: progressed, the cast has become desired. Right. As you know, for work. So I wonder if that is

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: part of it. Like, you know, when do you have a hole in your schedule that we could do?

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. You know, we need you for like three months. Can, when can that happen?

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know? Yeah. So I'm sure. David Harbor? David Harbor. Yeah, he's the sheriff. Yeah.

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I re-watched that Hellboy movie not too long ago. Okay. Only because I mean,

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I've been very intrigued by like the Hellboy trailer for the Crooked Man. Yeah. Which to

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_02]: me looks fantastic. So I went back and I watched the David Harbor one. I really was like,

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: it's still not good, but I think it's better than I give it credit for. Yeah. I think

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_02]: there was a part of me that like, as much as I tried to like not hold it against it,

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the fact that it wasn't Del Toro and Pearlman, it wasn't the continuation of that story.

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. Like I think I held that against it, even though I was trying very hard not to.

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_02]: There were still some things. I was just like, I didn't need that. You know? But

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_02]: overall, I still thought it was better than I gave it credit for, but still not as good

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_02]: as the two Del Toro movies. Okay. That's fair. But I liked Harbor a lot as Hellboy.

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Did you? Like I remember that came out the first time I watched it when I went to the

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_02]: theater and saw it. The one thing I was upset about, man, I wish David Harbor had a better

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_02]: movie. Right. Because he was very good as Hellboy. Yeah. But so now I'm like very

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_02]: interested to see like a completely different take on the character going much more of a

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_02]: horror movie route with this film. I'm very intrigued to see how this plays. Because

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_02]: The Crooked Man is one of those Hellboy stories that if you've read the comic is highly

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_02]: regarded and like people were shitting all over this. They're like, well, it looks

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: a little budget. Well, it probably is because the last movie tanked hard, but they still

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: believe in the intellectual property. So let's do it on the cheap. Let's do everything

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_02]: practically and see if we can't rebound. And so that's what's a story we could do

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_02]: that would be less intensive. Right. And The Crooked Man would be that story.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. So let's go down the horror movie route, only doing it with Hellboy.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Bug on you. Bug. Yeah, a little fly. So yeah, I mean, so I wrote, I did rewatch

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_02]: a while ago, but that was a, who was that? Oh, also, I only reviewed this. I watched

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_02]: this a couple of weeks ago. Batman the Cape Crusader. It's on Amazon Prime and it's a

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_02]: cartoon. And it's done by, it's produced by JJ Abrams and Tim, the guy who did Batman,

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_02]: animated series. And it is really fucking good. Yeah. Like this is one of those things

[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_02]: that for some reason, Warner Brothers discovery shit can and like JJ Abrams kind of convinced

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_02]: them, Hey, let me shop this around because I believe in this project. And I guess you're

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_02]: like, okay, well your JJ Abrams go ahead. And Amazon was like, okay, yeah, we'll take it.

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And they did, they did 10 episodes and it was fantastic. Really? Yeah. It was a real

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_02]: beautifully animated little things here and there. I was like, Oh, I mean,

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_02]: like they changed the sex of the penguin. Yeah. I don't care. You know, like, but like

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_02]: other things were like, so like, it was just very, very well done. Like for 10 episodes,

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, this is really fucking good. And like there were some things that I was,

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_02]: there was one thing that was like pissing me off the entire show. And at the end of it,

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_02]: they rectified it. Okay. I was like, Oh, like he keeps calling Alfred Pennyworth.

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Like Alfred will be like, well, I made you a sandwich, sir. Here's some coffee. So I was

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_02]: like, Oh, I'll get it. Pennyworth. Yeah. And at the end of it, he's like, thank you, Alfred.

[00:40:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like it was like very, like, like this very interesting thing.

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, you're really pissing me off. Bats, you know, Alfred is your boy. And

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_02]: they were like that relationship was being built. Oh, okay. I like that. Yeah. But

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_02]: you're no, not overly young. He's a different, he's a pudgy Alfred. You're a fat guy.

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. Which is unusual because he's usually like the, you know, the tall thin British.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. But they went that route with Alfred. I'm like, which again could care less,

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_02]: but the relationship between Batman and Alfred is what's important. Yeah. You know,

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and when you get to that point of, he stopped calling a penny worth and called him

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Alfred. I'm like, Oh, okay. Yeah. I see it now. Yeah. Nice little touch. Yeah. But overall

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_02]: it's a very, very good show. I highly recommend it. If you have Amazon prime

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_02]: is definitely worth watching Batman and Cape crusader. Okay. Yeah. So, so in some,

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: some nerd news, apparently they're going to try to do a Pacific Rim prequel series. Oh Lord.

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_02]: That doesn't excite you. That doesn't excite you.

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't like Pacific Rim too. Neither did I. I thought it was horrible. I've lost a little

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: faith. You know what I mean? Well, you mean on Elvis character that it's based off of?

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it doesn't, that doesn't say that. I mean, but apparently what they're saying is

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_02]: um, Guillermo del Toro will be involved in this. He was not involved in Pacific Rim uprising,

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_02]: right? Which is why it sucked. Um, but according to variety, legendary entertainment is now

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: developing a Pacific Rim origin story TV series with Eric Heisler, Hessler at the helm.

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_02]: This makes sense since in light of the success of monarch legacies of monsters

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_02]: itself, a prequel series of sorts to the popular kaiju movie franchise. Um, he wrote

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_02]: the Oscar nominated arrival. Um, you know, so kind of feature writing credit on Vin Diesel's

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: comic book movie bloodshot, which stunk and remake of nightmare Elm street, which I like

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: that remake. Yeah. I will stand behind that movie. It wasn't that bad. No, again, Jackie

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Haley playing Freddy Krueger and play like I've said it before, and I'll say it again,

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_02]: like the biggest problem with Freddie is he became the hero of the story in many ways.

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Like you were rooting for the kills, right? For getting that, you know, Freddie is a horrible,

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_02]: horrible, horrible person who deserves the, the, the actions of the, uh, the neighborhood

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_02]: for being a child molester. Like, you know, like that's the part that like we kind of

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_02]: forgot. Yeah, Freddie, I like him. He's cool. I like the way he kills people. Yeah. But,

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, um, so, but this is not something that you're, it's not like you're like

[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_04]: overly geared up for. Pacific Rim? Yeah. Um, I'm skeptical. Okay. Just because the second

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_04]: was so bad. Yeah. You know what I mean? But who knows? I mean, it'll be good.

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. Like I don't like it's a, it's that weird thing of like, I ain't going to be

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_02]: interesting to like, like they set up the world rather quickly. Like here's what happened

[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and this is how we responded. Right. You know, but to see all of that kind of take

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_02]: shape would be interesting to me. Okay. Like, like the beginnings. Yeah. Like, okay.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So we, we built up the walls around the coasts and then we, you know, we developed

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the Yeagers. Yeah. So what, what like, who was the mastermind behind that? And

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_02]: how, how was the technology developed? Like kind of like everything it kind of goes into

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_02]: because like we're, because what we're seeing is like a finished product almost. It's like,

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, here are the Yeagers who defend us, you know, and we're, you know, this is how

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_02]: this all works. And like that's nice. And like it made a great movie. Yeah. You know,

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_02]: but at the same time, like, how do you get to that point? Right. You know,

[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_02]: how do we get to somebody creating gypsy danger? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah.

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I mean, and these are nuclear based Yeagers, right? Yeah. I think so.

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_04]: The early ones. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. We'll see.

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_02]: And now gentlemen, come on the stage, get your money ready for gypsy danger.

[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_02]: That and the big, big news this week was the cancellation of star wars. The acolyte.

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I read about that a little bit. I'm, I, I, I'm not surprised he got canceled. No. No.

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Like my review of it was meh. You know what I mean? Right. Like it wasn't like,

[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_02]: like I didn't hate it, right. But I didn't love it. Like it was just meh. Like, you

[00:46:23] [SPEAKER_02]: know, it existed. It happened. Right. There were some cool things about it. There were some

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_02]: funny is it's like people are upset that it's getting canceled, but it's because

[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_02]: people didn't like it and didn't watch it.

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_02]: That is getting canceled. Like, yeah. Even if you said, I mean, it's the same thing

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_02]: that happened to solo. Okay. Okay. Like if you think about it, like compared to most star

[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_02]: wars movies, solo tanked, it did, you know, it did not do well compared to other star

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_02]: wars movies. Right. And so because of that Disney, um, Lucasfilm changed direction

[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_02]: completely. Yeah. Like other than the Skywalker saga, like finish finishing that we haven't

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_02]: a movie since. Right. Like they completely changed direction on how they were handling

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_02]: the property, right? Because you voted with your wallet. You said, I'm not going to go see this

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_02]: movie. Now I feel like a lot of people have since watched a movie and if like, man,

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I wish I would've seen that in the theater. Yeah. You know, I don't know if you're going

[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_02]: to feel the same way about the acolyte, right? Like it didn't do well. It didn't carry.

[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_02]: People didn't watch it all the way through. There were people who watched like maybe the

[00:48:01] [SPEAKER_02]: first two or three episodes and bailed. Right. And if I'm Disney and I'm looking at like,

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, well we started off with 3 million people watching this. And by the time we got

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_02]: to the last episode, 1.5, we're watching it. Right. Well that tells me as a massive decline,

[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_02]: why am I renewing this? Right. Why would you? Yeah. Financially. Like why would I put another

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_02]: 180 million into the show? Yeah, it's not the dark crystal. No, no. Like that's the thing.

[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So you made a Star Wars show. There were people who enjoyed it and good for them.

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying that they're wrong. I'm just saying for me as a Star Wars fan, there were

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_02]: things I didn't care for. Yeah. And I watched it the whole way through. I can honestly give,

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_02]: like I can give an honest, if people ask me, like I guess I watched it all the way through

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and these were the things I didn't care for. Like I did not care for the way at the end of

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_02]: it. Like I understand like you, if you want to tell me, okay, the Jedi weren't the wholesome

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_02]: drinking, you know, good guys. I understand that. And even at the end, like they're,

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_02]: the amount of power they had made them so blind to what was happening directly in front of them.

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. You know, that is why they fell. Right. You know, and this is kind of playing off of

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_02]: that. Like the top level of the Jedi had no clue what the lower levels were doing. And

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_02]: things could be covered up to protect themselves. Right. So no, the Jedi weren't the wholesome

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_02]: good guys that we like to portray them to be all the time. Right.

[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But the Sith are never good guys. Right. Like never, you know? Yeah.

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, and so at the end of it, they are kind of portrayed that way. Like,

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, we're the victims. Yeah. Well, no, really? You know what I mean? Like

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_02]: you've chosen a path of evil. Right. Yeah. You know what I mean? You know, no matter how

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_02]: bad the Jedi are, and I'm not saying that they're right, but you are choosing a path

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_02]: of straight evil. Right. You know, if I go there, when you corrupt a lightsaber crystal,

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_02]: there is a reason it is corrupt. You have done something so heinous

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_02]: that you're bleeding the crystal. Right. You know what I mean? Like that is by definition.

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. You know what I mean? And so, but they were portraying it and like people were like,

[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_02]: oh, these two are, they're so wonderful together. And I can't wait to see what happens.

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_02]: No, they're bad guys. Yeah. The second you become a Sith, you're a bad guy.

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. Yeah. Until you turn back to the light, there is a problem. Right. You know, so

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that was the like, and there are times where like,

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_02]: you can play in shades of gray. Right. I firmly believe that. Yeah. But that is not one of

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_02]: those times you can play in shades of gray. Like there are like, Han Solo can be played

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_02]: in shades of gray. Right. Like, you know, he was a smuggler, but he also like had core values

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_02]: where he was like, at least in the legends, like the reason he had a bounty on his head

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_02]: was because he wouldn't, he wouldn't travel with slaves. Yeah. He wasn't, he wasn't,

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_02]: he wasn't transporting slaves and that's what got him in trouble. Yeah. You know, dropping

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_02]: his cargo because of, he wasn't going to get taken in by the Imperials. Well, you know,

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_02]: there were things that like, you could look at the, but then at the same time,

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_02]: what made him great was he shot first. Right. He kills Greedo right then and there. Like,

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna give you a chance. Bang, you're dead. Is it money for your troubles? I'm on

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_02]: my way out. Yeah. You know, like that's what made Han Solo an interesting character.

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And you can play in those shades of gray. I think that was kind of like

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_02]: what I wish Boba Fett, the book of Boba Fett was more of. Yeah. Like him kind of like,

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_02]: yeah, I'm bad guy, but I'm kind of a good guy. You know, with the Jedi, you can like,

[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_02]: you could talk about the corruption of the Jedi and what they think they're doing is right

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and, you know, if you're a Sith, you're a Sith. Like, you know what I mean? Like that portion

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_02]: of there is no shade of gray. I'm sorry. Right. And, you know, so it's like, I'm not

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_02]: disappointed. Like there were some things I would have liked to have seen the story carry

[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_02]: out and tell us, but overall I'm like, okay, it's canceled. So what? Yeah. You weren't

[00:53:14] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I wasn't. But I mean like the people who were like, we need to save the show. I'm like,

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_02]: do you really? Like there's not enough of you to save the show because if there was,

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_02]: it wouldn't have been canceled in the first place. Right. You know what I mean? Like

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the problem. Yeah. Yeah. You are just antagonizing her. Yeah. She knows it too.

[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she does. She's like, he is fucking with me. So also a couple of weeks ago was the D 23

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_04]: convention where Sabine ran up. I didn't do it. Don't be coming over here looking at me like that.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_02]: There's the D 23 convention that had Disney showing a lot of their new stuff that's coming

[00:54:31] [SPEAKER_02]: out. What they've got within the next year or so. And one of the things that they showed some

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_02]: footage from was Tron Aries. It's that little project we keep forgetting that they're actually

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_02]: making with a friend of the show, Jared Leto. So this is not a direct, as we know,

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_02]: sequel to Tron Legacy. Apparently Jared Leto is playing a program on the grid.

[00:55:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But what's interesting, they showed this and apparently it got, people were very excited

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_02]: and it was shown with a nine inch nails soundtrack. Really interesting. Yeah. Now

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_02]: the soundtrack for Legacy was highly regarded. I can't remember who did that soundtrack.

[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_02]: The two guys who always wear helmets. Daft Punk. Yeah. And that was amazing. That soundtrack

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_02]: really was amazing and it sounded so good and it fit. And I'm thinking about it, I'm like,

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_02]: man, if you get Trent Reznor doing a nine inch nails style soundtrack for a Tron movie,

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_02]: okay, my interest is a little peaked. Right. You know, like, and I haven't, like, I will say,

[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Trent Reznor has evolved into a guy who, when you see his name on a soundtrack,

[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_02]: right? You're like, oh, okay, this is going to be interesting. Like the music is going

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_02]: to be very interesting to this movie. Right. And he started going all the way back to what

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_02]: the first one he did was the social network. Yeah. And so like, but he's always done as Trent

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Reznor. Right. This will be as not, apparently it's as nine inch nails and

[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm very intrigued to see how that plays out. Let me see if we can find anything else here.

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I saw something where it was like this has a horror film feel to it.

[00:57:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I guess, I mean, I'm bummed out that I'm not getting a direct sequel to legacy.

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. Cause I wanted to see how that played out. Okay. But I'm excited. I'm getting a third

[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Tron movie either way. Right. Like is that like the fact that they are making it,

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_02]: like it's no longer in development hell, like the fact that they are there,

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_02]: there's actual footage that was shown at this point. Like, right. Does it excite you?

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. It does. Does it? Yeah. Just also too. I understand you're wanting to see how that

[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_04]: finished up, but at the same point it's like, it's been so long. I know. But it was like so

[00:57:51] [SPEAKER_02]: long between like Tron and Tron legacy. Oh yeah. I get it though. Like, I mean,

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I get your point. Like I do wish they had struck while the iron was hot and given me

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_02]: that third movie, but I'm intrigued to like, is this all going to take place on the grid?

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, is there a hero from the outside world being put into this? Right. Like an Aries is his

[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_02]: creation kind of like Tron was for Flynn. You know, it's stuff like that. That like,

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_02]: how much of this is a quote unquote reboot and how much of it, how much of this is

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_02]: like a fresh take on an already existing intellectual property? Right. Yeah.

[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. I don't know either. It feels like it's that odd thing of like, well how much of it,

[00:58:57] [SPEAKER_02]: like Flynn owned the technology. Right. Like that. So how could somebody else have gotten

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_02]: access to it? Right. You know what I mean? Like that's the thing. And I'm kind of like,

[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_02]: but the other side of me is just like, fuck it. Who cares? You know, you're getting a third

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Tron movie, dumbass. Yeah. Just let it go. Enjoy the ride. I'll watch it. Yeah. For sure.

[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. I've completed the main quest in Skyrim. Okay. Yes. Now there's still

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_02]: a thousand other things to do in that game, but the main quest I have finally completed.

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Really? Yeah. Nice. Took you a while. I'm over a hundred hours into that game.

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, right. But it's a, here's the fun thing about the game. Like, and I've,

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I had to learn this over the years because there's a part of me that like

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_02]: thinks in real time, even when I'm playing a game like this. Right. And that's that

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_02]: you can put the main quest on hold and do this other shit. Right. Like there's no clock ticking.

[01:00:25] [SPEAKER_02]: It says, okay, you've got to go now to Dragon's reach and capture this dragon to learn how to get

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: all the wins layer. Like there's none of that going on. Yeah. So like I can reach that point

[01:00:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and say, okay, I don't think I'm ready for that yet. I'm going to go do a bunch of

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: shit to level up and take my time. And when I'm ready, I'll get there. Now, you know, in the

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_02]: meantime, you know, you're hearing about like, Oh, there was a dragon attack here

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_02]: and a dragon attack. I'm like, fuck. Okay. I should probably kill the dragons,

[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, but I'm busy on this thieving guild run, you know? So it's like,

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: odd stuff like that. But what I did do, so I finished the main quest and I immediately downloaded

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: the downloadable content because the version I have is the ultimate edition. It came with all

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: the DLC. Okay. So I didn't have to buy it. It came with it automatically, which was like,

[01:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: awesome. Yeah. And I was even like putting those off because like, like immediately,

[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: you download it and I walk out the door of my house. So like immediately I've got like,

[01:01:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, there are vampires overtaking the country and we're starting up the dawn guard. You should

[01:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: join them. And I've got cultists attacking me like immediately because I'm the, you know,

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm the false dragon born. I'm like, what the fuck? Like, you know, I should have downloaded

[01:02:03] [SPEAKER_02]: this all at once. Then I got a courier coming in. Oh, by the way, you can adopt kids now.

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, what the fuck? Like I'm trying to fight these people. I don't have time for you.

[01:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. So like, like the first 30 minutes after I downloaded the downloadable content was a

[01:02:16] [SPEAKER_02]: cluster fuck because it's all hitting you at once. Yeah. But I reached a point though,

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: like with the vampire quest, I'm like, I mean, I gotta take this on because every

[01:02:26] [SPEAKER_02]: time I come into a city, there's dead people from vampires. So like that's a real thing.

[01:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I got to handle. I think the first time I've had someone like, yeah, shit, uh,

[01:02:38] [SPEAKER_02]: people were really dying. Yeah. I should take care of this, you know? So,

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_02]: so I started on that quest. That's cool. Yeah. But like, yeah, yeah. I mean, like I'm

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_02]: 120 hours into the game and there's still like parts of the country I haven't discovered

[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_02]: yet. You know, all sorts of like, it's amazing for like a game that came out in 2012.

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: This is a 12 year old game. I'll for a PlayStation three. Yeah. How in depth it is

[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_02]: how much there is to this game. It's amazing to me. Yeah. Like I've played other games by

[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: the, like, um, mass effect plays on the same engine. And like, I'm almost like,

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to go back because I feel like how much did I miss? Cause I focus so much on

[01:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: the main mission. Yeah. Like, so I like to go back and like at some point play that game,

[01:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: those games again, just to see what I missed by being so focused on like,

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I gotta kill these motherfuckers, you know, and, um, fall out three,

[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_02]: like I've got fall out three. I've got to play. I never completed fall out three,

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: but that I remember being huge as well. Yeah. And that's again, a Bethesda game that,

[01:04:00] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, runs on this kind of the same engine. Right. So, so that's kind of interesting. Like

[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_02]: how for a game that's that old, how, how much there is, you know, like I would have never

[01:04:20] [SPEAKER_02]: thought that possible, right? But I'm also getting that should go back and start playing

[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_02]: some football too. Right. Yeah. So I might split up my days. I might, you know,

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_02]: one day it will be Skyrim. One day it will be football. You know, I don't know.

[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I said that's all I got. No email. Let me double check.

[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: There was no email sent in by Thad this week. I don't know if he was upset with me for

[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_02]: my comments last week about everything, but no, no email. So either he, he didn't send,

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope he's okay. I do. I hope he's okay. You know, but, uh, I don't even think he's,

[01:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: or, oh yeah, he replied with, he let me know what his trivia team name was and, uh, wow.

[01:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So anything you'd like to add to the proceedings there, sir? No, I'm good.

[01:05:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh well, remember there are a number of different ways you can reach out and touch us.

[01:05:33] [SPEAKER_02]: You send us an email like Thad usually does and that email address is pittsburghnerd at yahoo.com.

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter, just search pittsburgh nerd. We're very,

[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: very easy to find. And we are a number of podcasting networks. So you can find us on

[01:05:57] [SPEAKER_02]: we always want to thank you dear listener for taking the time to check us out each and every

[01:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: week. We can't thank you enough for your support. Yeah. And on that note, the dreamer has awakened.
