[00:00:23] And welcome to episode 610 of the Pittsburgh Nerd Podcast. I'm Sean. And I'm Ian, and this is the only podcast that says... Boy, did that fucking suck. Yeah. You're croup. Yeah, I... Dude. I... You know me. Okay, like, last week we didn't do a show because I was sick. And I was not bringing...
[00:00:53] Death. Death to your home. Right. Okay? Like, I'm... You know, I did the right thing and... But more importantly, I had nothing planned for a show because I didn't do anything all week. Like, I started to feel sick the Sunday before. And it felt like I had this just...
[00:01:20] I can only describe it as, like, this just blockage of phlegm right at the top of my throat. Yuck. It was, like... I just... I felt like if I could just, like, hawker it up, I would be fine. Yeah. Yeah. That was Sunday. Monday, I felt like crap. Right. Like...
[00:01:43] And thank God work was slow because, like, I'm at work and... You know, I work in a call center, so I take inbound calls. I've got my headset on. Yeah. Sit at my computer. My eyes are closing. Wow. I was dozing between calls. Right. I'm not going to lie. You know, at one point they had me, like, you know, here's... Like, we get, like, 30 minutes a week of, like, personal time. Right.
[00:02:12] Like, it's like, you know, help you unwind. Go take a walk. You know, do some extra learning. You know, do... Like, I set a timer and nodded off. Wow. Like, I was, like, that bad. Yeah. So, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I called off work. Yeah. And, like, you would think, like, okay, you call off work. Maybe you take a nap. I'm sure you watch something. Right. I didn't watch shit.
[00:02:42] Really? I was so... I had zero concentration. Hmm. Like, I was sitting on the edge of my bed just staring into space. Yeah. Like, I didn't really want to, like... Maybe I'd watch, like, something on YouTube. Yeah. And, like, I'd forget what I had watched. Wow. Like, you know, it was stuff like that. It was like, you know, oh, like... And I couldn't, like...
[00:03:11] Laying down was difficult because, like, I would lay down and I'd sound like a fucking Wookiee. Wow. Because of that phlegm in my throat. Yeah, yeah. Like, just sitting there, like, I... Like, it was horrible. And, I mean, like... Friday, like, Friday, I was like, I gotta go back to work. I can't call off another day. Yeah. And... I worked Friday feeling like complete shit.
[00:03:41] And the entire time, like, I didn't even, like... I couldn't tell you what happened in the world. Tell me again, flu. I had something horrible. Like, and... Like, come Saturday, I was just, like... I feel a little bit better. Uh-huh. But I did not feel comfortable, like, engaging with you. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, you would have, like, had, like, you know, a swab up my nose. Probably. Yeah.
[00:04:11] I'm like, I just... I'm not even gonna deal with it. Plus, I didn't have anything ready. Like, I had nothing. Right. Like, I couldn't have put a show together if I wanted to. And... Because even Nancy was like, well, we'll do something Sunday. I'm like, no. I'm not doing anything. It's like, is it because you didn't do a thing? I'm like, no, it's because I have nothing. I have, like... I've done shows where I've flown by the seat of my pants because we, like... We'll figure it out as we go. Like, I had nothing. Right. Like, going into... Even going into Sunday when Nancy's like, well, I'll do the show with you.
[00:04:39] I'm like, no, I got nothing. There is... You know... Nothing is gonna work. Right. You know, it'll just be a garbage show. And I won't be proud of that. And I'm not gonna put it out. Yeah. Fair. Especially, like, we've got some new listeners. Okay. Like, we have people who are, like, enjoying us. Like, I was like... So, like, you know, I'm... Hey, you're new to the show. I'm sick as fuck. I'm gonna do a show anyway. It's gonna be trash. And I'm gonna put it out. I'm gonna put my name on it. You know, no.
[00:05:09] I'm not doing that. You know what I mean? Yeah. So, I just felt like... I'm no show this week because I feel like trash. Okay. Fair. So... But... Like, Nancy got it. And I feel awful for her because she is a baby when she's sick. Yeah. Like, I tough it out. Like, I don't complain. I just kind of, like, sleep. You know? Yeah.
[00:05:33] Like, my mindset is I'm gonna just go into, you know, low power mode and let my body heal itself. You know? And, like, with her, she's like... I'm like, just go the fuck to sleep. Yeah. You know? Either go the fuck to sleep or shut the fuck up. Got my face. Yeah. Not like I can do it for you. But... Here's some NyQuil. Right. You know? So... So, yeah.
[00:06:03] I mean... Ugh. The fucking worst. And you know if it puts me down, it's gotta be bad. Yeah. It's gotta be pretty bad. Like, it was a nasty bug that I... You know? And Nancy was telling me, like, well, how do you feel? I'm telling her. She's like, oh, there have been a couple other people at work that have talked about feeling that way. I'm like, well... They might be dead. You know? They've got what I've got. They might be dead. Dead. You know?
[00:06:31] You might want to send somebody a check on them. They need a safety check. Yeah. That's awful. Yeah. I can't believe you're that sick. I know. And, like, the worst part is, you know, I got the little kids there. Nancy's grandkids. Yeah. And they've heard... Like, the oldest one has heard me cough so much. Like, she fake coughs now. Really? Like, because that's what I was doing.
[00:07:01] Like, she imitates me a lot. All right. And, like, you know, so, like, I'm walking around. Like, I'm in the kitchen, like, trying to make myself something to eat. All right. And then, you know, I just... I hear... Like, I cough. And then a couple seconds later, I hear from the living room another cough. Mm-hmm. And it's, like, this fake cough from this small child. I'm like, oh, stop it. All right. You're going to make me think I did give it to you. Yeah. You know? I am not going to... I can't deal with a four-year-old coughing. Yeah.
[00:07:30] I mean, like, literally I cough in. Because if you got what I got, child, you're going down. You're going down. You're down for the count. Yeah. Oh. Well, at least you got through it. Yeah. I got through it. And... Like, the cough has lingered a little bit, but... I'm back to, like, feeling normal. I worked all week this week. Yeah. You know, stuff like that. But other than that, though, it was just...
[00:08:00] Ugh. Dude. It was Tuesday. Yeah. And also... Because we... The last time we did the show with... I did the show with Nancy, I talked about, like, you know, I... My car passed inspection. Okay. Good. Which is exciting. Because, you know, I'm always afraid, like, it's going to come back to be like... Here's a thousand dollar bill for what needs to be fixed. You know? Show that. So, like, I've been holding on to my tax return... Okay. ...until this got done. Well, you know, car's inspected.
[00:08:30] Everything's good to go. So, I've got a lot of money now. So, I bought myself a bed. Nice. Queen. No, no. It's still a twin. A twin? Yeah. How on earth do you sleep on a twin bed? I just... I got it. Fine. Yeah? Yeah. Okay. So, you bought a bed. I bought a bed and I bought a frame. Like, you... A couple years ago, that's what you bought. Yeah. Like, the... You went to... Whatchamacallit.
[00:09:00] Big Lots. Yeah. You bought, you know, the memory foam mattress and the... Yeah. ...the metal frame. Yeah. I just bought it from Amazon. Okay. And, uh... I gotta tell you... This has been a very hard transition. I'm sure. Like, the bed I had... Uh-huh. ...was 20 years old. Okay. It was fall... I mean, it was in shambles. It... It was well past its expiration date. Yeah, yeah.
[00:09:29] It was, you know... The box spring was a... You know, a mess. The... The... You know... It was lumpy. It was horrible. But... It was comfortable to me. Like, I could sleep on it. Like, great. You know what I mean? Um... And, like, the way you slept on a mattress like that... Uh-huh. Was you kind of learned where the lumps were. You kind of contoured your body around them or embraced them or something. Like, you made it work so that your body was comfortable.
[00:09:59] Reverse memory foam. Exactly. Exactly. Like... I just kind of, like, worked my body until you found, like, that perfect spot. And went out. Yeah. You know? And with this... One of my biggest problems is with the beat-up shitty mattress. Yeah. When I laid on it, the... Like, it would raise up in the... Like, where the pillows were. Mm-hmm.
[00:10:28] So I didn't have... Well, this... This motherfucker doesn't move. Yeah. You know? And so, like, I'm going back further to where my... To get to my pillows. And I'm like, this is uncomfortable. And you add another pillow. And it's like, that's not right. Like, trying to find, like, that perfect head area again... Right. ...has been very, very difficult. I bet. And also, just the fact that it's... It's not what I'm used to. Right. It's...
[00:10:58] It's... And I'm sure, like, people are out there, like, what the fuck do you mean? Like, what... I went from sleeping on a couch to sleeping on a 20-year-old bed to now having, like, an actual brand new bed. Right. And this has been extremely difficult. Like, you don't... Like, I know people don't understand. Like, most people are like, you know, you buy a bed every 10 years. What the fuck is wrong with you? Yeah. I've never owned a brand new bed in my life. Okay. Like, maybe when I was in a crib as a small child.
[00:11:28] Like... But, like, other than that, like, every other... Well, no. When we had the bunk beds, those were brand new. Yeah. Yeah. So... But... So I'm lying. But, like, in my adult life, I've never had a brand new bed. So, like... Okay. That's fair. Like, it's that odd thing of, like... I mean, at one point, I slept on an air mattress. You know? Did you? I did, yeah. Where I lived above Tracy and Lou. Oh, yeah.
[00:11:58] And you slept on an air mattress? Yeah. I slept on an air mattress. Oh. And so... Like, it's that thing, like, you know... Having a new bed is a... Oddity to me. Having a good bed is an oddity to me. Sure. You know? And my body's just like, what the fuck is this? It is... I can't say I've had a good night's sleep yet. You'll get used to it eventually. I'm sure. Like, I have no doubt.
[00:12:28] But it's just... It's still very... I gotta tell... Like, Nancy's even telling me that. Because she's like, you'll get used to it. It's a good thing. You've done a good thing. And I'm like, in my head, my body's like, no, you didn't. We liked what we had. Yeah. You know? But... It is. It's a very odd thing. I am... I'm surprised at how difficult it is.
[00:12:57] Like, I shouldn't be like... I don't sleep well in hotels. No, I know. I get that. I don't either. Like... But it's not because I'm in a hotel. It's just because the bed's better than what I'm used to. Right. Well, I had to sleep. I was on call. So I had to sleep at... Where I'm at now. Yeah. And... They're like, oh, we have a call room. And this, that, and the other. And... Man. I went into that call room.
[00:13:27] I'm like, okay, bed, you know? Yeah. I slept on that bed. I... I felt like I woke up in some kind of weird-ass fetal position. Couldn't move my back. Because you... Because the bed was so bad? It was so bad. Yeah. Yeah. And... I mean, I sleep now. I mean, I have a queen bed now. Yeah. Yeah. That's newer. And I had a queen before. Yeah. You know, one of those bed-in-the-boxes things. Yeah. But...
[00:13:56] It's comfortable. You know what I mean? Yeah. But still, it was just like... Ugh, get me out of here. I was like, it hurts so bad. Yeah. So when I sleep on a different bed... Yeah. You know, it takes a while. You've now become used to sleeping on good beds. Correct. So going back to a bad bed is difficult for you. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. That's like nearly fucking impossible. Yeah. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. It's like... Yeah. I'll never sleep badly again.
[00:14:26] If I can help it. You know, but I'm... I mean, I sleep... I'm... You know, I go to hotels and sleep. Yeah. You know what I mean? So... But... Even those hotels were better than this bed. Yeah. I couldn't believe... I was like... I can't believe... Yeah. It was probably like, you know, the same type of mattress you'd get like on a military bed. Oh, it was horrible. Yeah. So... Super thin on... Just like on the frame with the springs. Yeah. Like, you know...
[00:14:55] On river rock. Yeah. I don't know what was below. Yeah. But it was bad. Let's put it down. Anyway. So... You know. Yeah. Here's the bed. You'll get used to it. I'm sure I will, but it's just... It's a... It's definitely an adjustment. You're used to it. Yeah. So what else is going on?
[00:15:25] Ah, that's it with me. How... You didn't watch anything? Oh, I've watched... I've watched a couple of things. So have I. Okay. Well, you go first. What have you watched? Well, I went to... I went to actually go see a movie. Okay. Okay. With my kids. Okay. Yeah. I went and saw the Looney Tunes movie. Oh, okay. That looked really good. And that limited release or whatever that was? Yeah. Yeah. It's excellent. Yeah. That was the day the earth blew up or something. Yeah.
[00:15:54] With Daffy and Porky Pace. And that was it. Yeah. And that's all you needed. Yeah. It was actually very similar to the old Porky and Daffy cartoons back in like... The Duck Dodgers stuff? No. Oh, okay. Before that. Okay. There was a couple hints of the Duck Dodgers in the 50s and 60s. Yeah. But this was like from the 30s and 40s. Okay. Okay. Like that type of old school feel. Yeah. Way old school feel. Yeah.
[00:16:24] Like especially Daffy. Yeah. It was great. It was really good. I couldn't believe how good it was. Yeah. Like I was shocked. It was like a cross between... There are parts of it that was Looney Tunes for sure. Right. Old Looney Tunes. Yeah. But some of the art reminded me of like some Ren and Stimpy and some SpongeBob. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Like when the art gets really good on certain parts. Yeah. It was really good. I was... I couldn't believe... I swear.
[00:16:54] I was telling the girls this too. I can't believe how good it was. Yeah. I couldn't. Because I'm a huge Daffy Duck fan. Yeah. And I'm very critical of cartoons with Daffy Duck in it. Yeah. You know what I mean? And this was excellent. I'm telling you. Yeah. So if anybody gets a chance... I'm just kidding. No one will. But I mean, it's worth the price of admission to see it on screen. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:17:24] I would say. Well, that gives me hope because I was reading that, you know, Warner Brothers shelved Coyote versus Acme. Really? Yeah. Like that was like that and like Batgirl a couple years ago. Like they shelved that. Like it never to be seen. Okay. And apparently now there are negotiations between them and I get the same company that released the day the earth blew up. Uh-huh.
[00:17:53] To, for them to release it. Yeah. Um, because people were saying it was like a, I guess it got tested, I believe. And people were saying it's actually a really good movie. Yeah. It was. It was excellent. Yeah. But I'm talking about the Coyote versus Acme. Oh, okay. So like if, if this is getting good reviews, I'm hoping like maybe they'll, they'll allow that to be released as well. Yeah.
[00:18:18] Cause like that seemed like a really funny concept of like Wally Coyote suing the Acme corporation for all the fucked up shit he's bought over the years. It didn't work. Yeah. It is. You know. I agree. Yeah. Yeah. That's a brilliant concept. I was like, oh, I can't wait to see this. And then I was like, yeah, you'll never see the light of day. Yeah. Even with, with Daffy and this, there was like a lot of, there was a lot of expressions
[00:18:48] that he used in the forties and the early fifties. Yeah. That came back into this. Right. Like, oh brother. Yeah. Like that stuff. This is before clamp. Like this is before like, this is before like Wally Coyote and. Yeah. Oh, Pepe Le Pew and all that stuff. Yeah. This is like straight out porky pig. Yeah. I know what you're talking about. Like he, he looked a little different. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like the Abbott and Costello cats.
[00:19:18] Yeah. That's that time period. Yeah. Um, yeah, man, I was, I was so impressed. Like a, like a more of a rounded belly and stuff back in that day. Oh yeah. Yeah. And there's a, there's a point where he even gets naked. Yeah. And then I was like, dude, that's, that's wicked. You know what I mean? So yeah, it was, it was definitely worth the price of admission, especially to see it on the big screen. Yeah. That's that same era of when it says like, I love like that, the Bugs Bunny one where
[00:19:46] he's got the gangsters and they're like, it's the cops. And he, he throws them in the oven and then he pretends like it's Bugs doing the cop voice. And if, if my friend so-and-so was in this oven, would I turn it on like this? Yeah. You might rabbit. You know, and then, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. That had the two Yosemites in it. Or that, do you remember that one that had the two Yosemite brothers and Bugs? Yeah. Yeah. No, that was, no, that was Bugs. That was Bugs. Yeah.
[00:20:14] The, one of my favorite Bugs Bunnies is, well, rabbititis is one of my favorite ones. Um, and one of my all-time favorite Daffy Ducks, probably in history is, is the one, it's so good. The one where he's, he's fighting. I mean, he's boxing. Yeah. And there's that dog. And the hunter. Yeah. And all the ducks are in the audience. The art on that is really good.
[00:20:44] And, uh, that's probably, that's probably my favorite Daffy Duck, but. There was just a lot of throwback to those old. Yeah. Sayings. And it felt like a 1940s cartoon, like, but with modern day stuff, it was very strange. It was weird. And it mixed in with like a little, like I said, a little bit of Ren and Stimpy and SpongeBob. Yeah. It was very, I know, I know that sounds odd, but. No, it does. I mean, it makes sense. And it, like, I remember seeing the trailers.
[00:21:13] It was kind of one of those things where I was like, it was on my radar and it kind of got off of my radar somehow. And I, I remember just like thinking like, that looks really interesting. I really liked the artwork to it because it doesn't look like typical, like what Looney Toons are now. Right. It did look a little throwback-ish. It was. Yeah. I got it. But like. How, how they, how they penned Daffy and how, how they moved them on the cartoon. Yeah.
[00:21:42] It was really impressive. And I really liked the fact that it was just 2D. Yeah. They didn't try to fucking do the Space Jam and all this bullshit. Right. Real people and three-dimensional characters. Just 2D, just like a regular old cartoon. Yeah. And I appreciated that more than probably anything else. Right. Because I just wanted to watch something. I didn't have to worry about the dimensions or. Right. The real person involved. It was just a cartoon. Yeah. You know, it was, it was refreshing. It was.
[00:22:12] I, I, I give it, I give it a 5. It's probably a 4. Yeah. But I give it a 5 just because. Out of 5 stars. Out of 5 stars. Okay. But yeah. So yeah. Watch that. Okay. And boy, I started to dare that one. Oh, shit! That is some good shit. Oh. I'm just saying.
[00:22:40] And now, we can't go too far on it. Because I'm only so far into it. So I got up, I'm up to the part where, I'm up to the part where, what's his name? The whatever tiger, where the Punisher killed the tiger. Okay. Straight shot. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. That's where I'm at right now. Okay. So you're one episode behind. Yeah. Okay. All right. So let's spoil this a little bit if you have not watched Daredevil Born Again.
[00:23:11] Episode 1. Unbelievable. The first 15 minutes. Unreal. I could not believe what I was watching. It was so fucking good. I'm like, are you fucking serious right now? Like, I couldn't believe it. Yeah. But they did. I'm like, no way. I know. It was on the roof. It was like. Oh! The second Foggy's heart stops beating. He just dropped them. Yeah. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Oh! And I was like.
[00:23:41] When I was looking at it, I was like. Huh. Is that who I think it is? Is that Bullseye? Yeah. And I'm like, no way. They're not going to bring Bullseye into this. Yeah. I'm like. Ew shit, it is Bullseye. Yeah. That entire fight sequence was absolutely fucking amazing. That's better than some of the Marvel shit that's produced by the big studios. Like, not big studios, but. But yeah. But the bigger movies. But like. That fight. I'm telling you how he was just throwing knives. Like fucking crazy.
[00:24:10] And sticking in Daredevil like that. Yeah. Unbelievable. It was. I was like. Oh shit. It was reminiscent. He said he was just killing everybody. Yeah. And that's what Bullseye did. Anybody that got in his way. Yeah. If you talked to him or not, they were dead. Yeah. Unbelievable. And it was reminiscent of like. You know. The big thing with like the Netflix Marvel series was always like. The hallway fight scene. Yeah. Every series had one. Yeah. And like. Daredevils was always to me the best. Yeah. But like. It was reminiscent of that. Like it would.
[00:24:40] Like they went right back to like. Okay. This. Here's another hallway fight scene with. You know. And it was like so badass. Oh. I just couldn't believe it. Yeah. I couldn't believe I was witnessing it. Yeah. It was unbelievable. Unbelievable. And Karen's reaction when Bullseye's body hits the pavement. Yeah. Like. Oh. It was. It's even better that he carries around the horn. Yeah. I'm like.
[00:25:11] Dude. Yeah. You know what I mean? He just pulls it out. Yeah. It's just. It's so well written. It is. And it's like. You go from that. And you're like. Okay. Here we go. He's in the costume. And like. One year later. And he's like. Yeah. I'm not wearing a costume. Yeah. I'm done dude. And it's like. You're. You're three episodes in. And he still hasn't had it on since that fight. Yeah. And it's like. I don't care. It's been that fucking good. Yeah. If you.
[00:25:41] If you were worried about like the. The. The Disneyfication. Of Daredevil. Have no worries. Have no worries. Because the violence is still there. Oh. Man. The. The swearing is still there. Like. When I heard an F-bomb beat. I'm like. Holy shit. They. He say fuck. You know. I was like. Okay. Nah. We are in all in. You know. And. And it. It was like. They. They. They. Didn't. Dumb it down.
[00:26:11] No. I think they turned it up. I think so too. Because then you have like. In episode two. You do have that moment between. Murdoch and Kingpin in that diner. In the diner. Yeah. That was a great scene. It was phenomenal. Unbelievable. Like. And you knew it was going to be. Like. You had like. It's like. Okay. When I get to that scene. It's going to be really fucking good. And it exceeded expectations. Like. That conversation. At the end of it. When he's like. You know. Mr. Murdoch.
[00:26:41] If you return to your. Nighttime proclivities. Yeah. Justice will be served. It's like. Yeah. Go fuck yourself. Fisk. It's anything. That's what I mean. I was just. And. And. Uh. Him. The. The kingpin. Oh. He's just fucking amazing. Just to watch him on screen. The guy has to win an Emmy. Like. I.
[00:27:11] I don't know how much. I don't know how better you can act something. Like. It's like. He completely. It's that rarity. I. I think. Charlie Cox does as well. Charlie Cox understands. Matt Murdock. Yeah. Like. The only thing that's bummed me out so far. Is he hasn't gone to church. Right. Well. It's. That. It's still early. You know. But. Like. Because that's a big part of Daredevil. Is the Catholicism. I know. But there's hints of it. There have been hints of it. Yes. Yeah. But.
[00:27:40] But. When you are bringing. Kingpin to life. Like this. Like. And it goes back to the Netflix series. How good he was in that. Yeah. And. Even like in. In. In Hawkeye. You know. And. He wanted to wear. Like. He's like. I want to play that version of Fisk. Where he wears the tropical shirts. Yeah. Like. He wanted that. He asked for that.
[00:28:11] So this is a guy who's like. I know this character. I understand this character. Yeah. And. When he brings it to life. It is so fucking good. It is amazing. And he commands the screen. Like. If he is. In a scene. He commands the scene. Every single fucking time. Every time. And. Like. I can't think of a better actor. Like.
[00:28:41] You're just waiting for. And. And the thing is. It's. It's being written so well. The script is so well done. That you're waiting for the kingpin to come out. Like. You're just waiting. Yeah. What is going to set him over the edge? Is it the gigantic hole that's in the street? That's going to set him over the edge. Right. Is it that dude that fucked him over? Yeah. Got drunk and fucked him over. And they. I was. I don't think he really meant to do it. But he was drunk and trying to get laid. Yeah. Yeah. Not get laid. He was just trying to be. Yeah. Whatever.
[00:29:11] Whatever. And then. Oh. I was like. This is it. He's going to snap his neck. You know what I mean? Like. And then he's like. It'll be the last thing you do. I'm like. Ew. Like. It's there. So you watched part of episode four then? Yeah. Part of it. Okay. Yeah. But.
[00:29:41] I regret it. I will never do it again. I will. You have my undying loyalty. Even outside of this job. I will forever be a supporter of yours. Yeah. And he like. It like speaks to him like. Okay. This is the kind of loyalty I need. And you're willing to give it to me. But then he gives him that ultimatum of like. Don't ever do it again. Or I will fucking end you. Yeah. I know. You know. And like.
[00:30:10] He understands what the fuck he's saying. You know. Yeah. Like. There's no doubt that like. He is talking about like. Putting you in the. In the. The bag. Dirt now. Yeah. You're going to be in the East River. With some cement shoes. But you will. You will have paid a price well before then. You know. Yeah. Like. Oh. Yeah. But there's always. Every moment. There's like this. There's this moment where it's. Yeah. Oh. Is he going to come out now? Yeah. Yeah.
[00:30:40] I'm like waiting for it. Yeah. And boy. When he does unleash. It is going to be bad. Because all this is pent up. Yeah. All of this is pent up anger. Yeah. I mean. He's got all this shit going on. The pressure of being in the. In the position that he's in. He's got. The whole wife situation going on. Yeah. And it's just. It's like. He keeps getting edged. Every single episode. Yeah. Something. Like. The wick is getting shorter.
[00:31:10] Do you know what I'm saying? The funny thing is in. In. Like. I truly believe. In a mirrored sense. It's the same thing that's happening to Matt. Yeah. No. I know. It's like. It's commonality. Yeah. I mean. It's. You know. They're two sides of the same coin. And. Every episode. Like. It's getting like. He's going to go back. You know. He's going to go back. And it's not just like. Well. Because you know the characters. It's because of you. You're watching what's happening to him.
[00:31:39] And every little thing is happening. It's like. That. That darkness is creeping back into him. Every single moment. Yeah. And you're just like. Oh shit. Here we go. You know. And like. The thing is. Like. I'm thinking to myself. Like. The moment he does put that suit back on. The moment he. You know. He. He becomes daredevil again. It's going to be bad for somebody. Yeah. Like. Somebody's getting fucked up. Yeah. Because he's tired of it too. Yeah. And like. And they're making sure you know that.
[00:32:09] Yeah. Like. You know. The guy that. The guy. And I saw that part too. The guy that's in prison. Yeah. And he's telling him his story. Yeah. You know what I mean. And Murdoch's kind of treating him like an idiot. Because he is an idiot. Yeah. But. He's like. Man. I just want mine. I want my dessert. Yeah. For once. I would like my dessert. Yeah. You know what I'm saying. And that hit Murdoch. Yeah. It's crazy. Like fuck. You're right. Yeah. I get it. You know. Right. The best I can do is 10 days. Right. You know.
[00:32:39] But. Right. I mean like. Yeah. So. That's good dude. It has been. It has been. Like. I had high. I hate saying it. Because it's like. You know. Like. I had high expectations for this show. And it's exceeding my expectations. Oh. Way. Way so. Yeah. Yeah. It's just so good. Yeah. Yeah. I mean.
[00:33:09] Like. I was so happy when they brought the character back. And then you're thinking like. Man. What if they dumb him down. Or Disneyfy him. And then. Then you got him in She-Hulk. And it was like. You know. Yeah. But. This show has been. On fucking point. Oh. It's so good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I. It's a great show. So far. Yeah. Other than that.
[00:33:41] I finished. Daryl Dixon. Did you? Yeah. That was good. Yeah. I may have said that already. But. I don't think I did. But I finished Daryl Dixon. That was. That was good. It was a good conclusion. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was a pretty good conclusion. Actually. Good. Yeah. I was pretty impressed with it. Is it open for a season three? Or does that kind of tie the bow on. On that.
[00:34:12] It's open. I mean. They can. There's places you can go. Yeah. Yeah. You know. It's not completely. Dead. Okay. You know. How it ends. Yeah. Yeah. There's plenty of room for. Yeah. Whatever you want to do with it. Yeah. I just thought. I thought it was a great series. It was very. How should I say.
[00:34:41] It was very Walking Dead-ish. Yeah. As in. First season of Walking Dead. Yeah. Second season of Walking Dead. Third season of Walking Dead. It was very. Yeah. Yes. And it had that vibe. It had. Yeah. It was good. But it also felt like it was different. It was. Because it's taking Darrow and putting him in. It is. A very unique situation. It is. But it's not like.
[00:35:14] Like when Darrow was put in that situation in The Walking Dead it felt uncomfortable. Yeah. Does that make sense? Yeah. Him in this situation does not make it. It's not uncomfortable. Yeah. You know. It seems like. The story's good. So I mean like. It just seems right. Right. But you had to change his circumstances to make him the lead character. Correct. And thank God they did. Yeah. Right. Right. Because now he can be the lead character. Right. And not be overshadowed by anything. Right. You know what I mean.
[00:35:44] You couldn't have had him in the Maggie and Negan show. No. Because he'd be overshadowed by Maggie and Negan. Well Negan commands. Yeah. Screen anyway. So. Yeah. Jeffrey D. Morgan's just that fucking good. Yeah. So if you're in a show with him. Right. He's going to get all the attention anyway. What's his name is. He's. He's one of the producers on this.
[00:36:14] Rick. No. Oh. Daryl. Oh. The guy who plays Daryl. Yeah. Yeah. I can't think of his name. I can't believe. I am. What's wrong with me? No. But he's. He's like. Yeah. He's an executive producer. I'm sure. Yeah. Yeah. And Carol's good in it too. Yeah. There's some. She. She revisits some of her demons. Put it that way. Yeah. Like with the kid. Yeah. With her kid. Right. Yeah.
[00:36:44] Which. I actually kind of appreciated. Right. You know. Like pent up stuff that she's been holding on forever. Yeah. And she's trying to resolve. So. I like that aspect too. I thought that was. A nice touch. That's good. You know. To her story. Yeah. But it's still Carol. She's a lion son of a bitch. Yeah. You know what I mean? That's her. Manipulative and everything. Oh yeah. Oh. Just a poor little girl. Life in the neck. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like that's her. That's her vibe.
[00:37:17] All right. So. I also watched. Moving on from Daredevil. Okay. I watched a movie on Netflix called The Electric State. Okay. It's got Chris Pratt. And. Right. Eleven from Stranger Things. Oh. I can't think of her name. I enjoyed it. Okay. Now I've read online. Apparently this was based off of a book.
[00:37:46] And people have said the book is far superior. Okay. I've never read the book. So I don't know. You don't have an opinion on it. Right. So my opinion is solely based upon the movie. And I enjoyed the movie. Like I. It wasn't great. It wasn't phenomenal. It was. It was good enough. Okay. You know what I mean? Like. At the end of it. I was like. Well. I enjoyed this. Okay. Um. There was one moment I thought like. Well. That was a. A. A.
[00:38:15] You know. A cop out. Yeah. But. Other than that. Like. I mean. It wasn't bad. Okay. If you're somebody who's read the book. You might not enjoy it. I don't. I don't know. But like. Just based upon what I. I saw. Okay. It was. I mean. It wasn't great. I wasn't like. At the end of it. Like. This was amazing. I can't believe what I've seen. You know. Yeah. Yeah. This wasn't flow. You know. Right. Right. Um. Which by the way.
[00:38:45] You can still watch on max. Which I highly. Recommend you do. Um. But. It wasn't. It was entertained for two hours. All right. You know. It wasn't phenomenal. Like. I'll probably never watch it again. Right. I enjoyed it for the two hours I watched it. That's cool. You know. That's what counts. Yeah. You know. Pratt's Pratt. Um. It was interesting. The concept is interesting.
[00:39:14] Because it's like. You know. Like. The Disney company in the 50s. Like. Figures out robotics. Okay. And so like. We're using robots. Like from like the 50s forward. As like. You know. Labor and stuff. Okay. Well. In 1990. They. You know. Become self-aware. Revolt. Okay. You know. But the oddity is. Like. It's like. These.
[00:39:43] These robots aren't like. Like Terminators and stuff. It's like. Mr. Peanut. You know what I mean? Like. It's shit like that. Yeah. And. You know. So. Mr. Peanut. You know. There's a. There's a revolution. And at one point. Like. The. The Apple. Or IBM. Like. Entity. Saber. Comes in. They're. They. They create drones. That can be used. Like. It's controlled by a person.
[00:40:13] Okay. Like. It's almost like the Oasis. Okay. Like. They're putting on helmets. And it's like a VR system. For. For. For them. Right. And they're controlling these drones. They're able to fight the war. And. They defeat the robots. And. The robots are all sent off to this. Like. Basically. Prison area. In. In New Mexico. Okay. Okay. So. You flash forward a couple of years. And. The girl.
[00:40:43] Her brother. Her family dies in a car crash. Okay. This robot. Comes to her. And is like. Doing things. That's like. Is this my brother? Mm. And. This leads her on this adventure. To try to find her brother. Okay. Where's her brother's body. Mm. And. That's what leads her to Pratt. Which leads to all sorts of other stuff. Okay. So. It wasn't bad. Like.
[00:41:13] Like I said. It wasn't great. Um. I'm sure the book is much better. But. If you haven't read the book. You might enjoy the movie. Okay. You know. Um. I watched that. And I watched a. A CNN documentary about Kobe Bryant. Okay. It stunk. Aw. And you know the reason. I say that. It was three parts.
[00:41:42] And what they were really tracking. Was like. What led to the greatness of Kobe Bryant. Right. And the first part. Is like. His childhood in Italy. You know. His high school years. And then. His first few years in the NBA. Okay. Leading up to. The sexual assault case. It was in Colorado. Okay. The second episode is. All about that case.
[00:42:12] And then the third episode is. Black Mamba. And. Retirement. Up to his death. Okay. The problem I have with it. Is it skipped so much. Okay. In my opinion. Like. It skipped. Kobe versus Shaq. Okay. Like. They won three titles together. Went with the Lakers.
[00:42:39] But Kobe was sick and tired of being Rob in the Shaq's Batman. And forced him out. Okay. You know. And it doesn't cover that. At all. Okay. Like they. They completely graze over it. Later on. Like. Kobe. Being angry with Phil Jackson. Like. How the hell are you angry. And forced out the greatest. One of the greatest basketball coaches of all time. Yeah. I don't know. But. Kobe did. You know. But.
[00:43:08] Like. Rightfully so. An entire. Out of the three episodes. One episode being entirely. Focused on. That. Sexual assault trial. Was. Was deserved. Okay. Okay. Because. I firmly believe. Kobe Bryant assaulted that woman. Okay. Okay. As much as I love Kobe. The player. Like. I could freely admit. There's not a doubt in my mind. He.
[00:43:38] He did what he did. And. At the end of the whole thing. He. In his own way. All but admits to it. Okay. Like. He wrote this apology. Because. I guess. In the civil case. That they settled. Mm-hmm. Part of the civil. The settlement was. He had. He had to apologize publicly. And he wrote this. Amazingly. Well worded apology. And in it. He basically says. You know. Because he never.
[00:44:07] He never. Denied. Or he. At first he denied. But then. You know. He quickly. Like said. Yeah. We did. He never denied. Really having sex with that woman. Okay. He. He always plays it like. I'm more concerned about. The infidelity. To my wife. Right. Right. But. At the end of it. In his apology. He's. He's writing like. Well. I believe.
[00:44:36] The sex we had was consensual. Huh. What I have learned. Through this journey. And through discovery is. While what I thought may have been consensual. She did not. Okay. Like. That's all but admitting. Like. Yeah. I did what I did. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. And. Like. If you look at the history of Kobe Bryant. Before that incident. He had a squeaky clean reputation. Right. After that incident.
[00:45:06] He had a squeaky clean reputation. Like. He was never a guy who was out clubbing. He was never at. Boozing. Like. I mean. There's that moment. Like in the. The redeem team documentary. Where those guys were talking about like. You know. We're in. We're in Vegas. We're going out. And we're like. Hey Kobe. You coming out with us? I was like. No. I'm going to bed. He's like. They were coming back from the casinos and shit. And. All fucked up. And Kobe's walking down to the gym going.
[00:45:36] I'll see you motherfuckers in 10 minutes. Really? Yeah. Like. That was Kobe Bryant. Yeah. You know. So. Like. It was like this moment of like. I don't know what for him. But like. The. It was like. It was like so weird. Because like. Especially when you like. Contrast to how we are today. Right. At that time. People thought Kobe was innocent. Right. Like. He went.
[00:46:06] To a pre. Like a pre trial. In Colorado. Flew back to LA. Played a game. Scored 48. And hit the game winner. And the announcers are like. What a way to cap an emotional day for Kobe Bryant. Not. Oh. By the way. He had to go. And you know. And plead not guilty. To sexual assault in Colorado. Then come play again. No. They're like. Wow. What an emotional day for Kobe Bryant. Yeah.
[00:46:36] Like you know. Like. Everybody was like. Yeah. Kobe's innocent. The entire world was like. Yeah. He didn't do nothing wrong. This is probably some girl trying to. Yeah. Take advantage of an NBA superstar. Or what. Yeah. And like. Like. That wouldn't fly into. In modern society. No. And like. And this was just. 20 years ago. Right. Right. You know what I mean. Like. So it was like. It was very interesting. To kind of revisit that. And. Like. Kind of like. Think like. Wow.
[00:47:05] I can't believe. Like. That's how. We all thought back then. Right. You know. But. But like. Skipping over some of like. The important stuff. In his career. Mm-hmm. Was interesting. I. It. If you're a Kobe Bryant fan. You might enjoy it. I just. I. I wanted something. I. I wish they would have. Would have been able to do something. As meaty. As like. The last dance. Okay.
[00:47:35] You know what I mean. Like. Yeah. Because. To me. Kobe Bryant. Deserves that same treatment. Like. To me. He's the second best player. In NBA history. Behind only Jordan. Yeah. Okay. You know. And. You know. He. He was a guy. Who. All. Like. In a. In a way. Had. Two very distinct. And different careers. In the NBA. Yeah. Like. When he wore number eight.
[00:48:06] He was. Smiling. Kobe. Yeah. After the sexual assault case. He changed his number to 24. And he was a black mamba. Yeah. You know. The assassin. The killer. And. He embraced that darkness. And like. Took it to the court. And. You know. I mean. The motherfucker scored 60. In his last game. Yeah. Like.
[00:48:35] Went out letting you know. I am still a bad motherfucker. Yeah. You know what I mean. And then. Like. In the last part of it. The documentary. Is about like. Post. Post. Basketball. And like. You know. Him winning the. The Oscar. For the. Animated short. And. Yeah. Like. John Williams. Did the music for that. Did he? Yeah. And John Williams is like. He cold called me. He's just like.
[00:49:04] You're the guy. And I want you to do this. And he's like. Well I'm a little busy. Doing a little film. Called Star Wars. Right now. But I'll try to fit you in. You know. He's like. And he told him like. Kobe. I just want you to know. Like. I've never watched a basketball game. In my life. Like. The only reason I know who you are. Is because. You're in the pop culture. Zeitgeist. Right. Right. You know. And. Like that was interesting. To hear like. John Williams talk about. Like his interactions. With Kobe Bryant. Right. You know. And.
[00:49:35] Like. It was. It. It was interesting enough. But like. Man. There was so much meat on the bone. That I thought. They left. Yeah. That like. I wish it would have been a. A deeper. And like. There were a lot of people. Who like. Refused to. To talk. Really? Yeah. Like. I mean. Obviously. I mean. They didn't get Shaq. Like. The only NBA player. Like. Was like. Tracy McGrady. Okay. And. You know. Like. The equipment guy.
[00:50:05] From the Lakers. And. Yeah. Like. I mean. Jordan didn't talk at all. Who? Jordan. No. No. But Jordan really. Like. I'm just curious. No. Because like. Jordan's career ended. And Kobe's began. Yeah. And then like. Jordan came back. With the. The Wizards. For those couple of years. Yeah. But Jordan was pretty tight. With Kobe. Kobe looked up to Jordan. Yeah. Yeah. And that was like. His little kid. Yeah. Like. Do you know what I mean? Like. There was.
[00:50:34] There was a relationship there. There was. There was. There was a little bit of relationship. But no. Like. Jordan didn't talk. Like. No. Nobody of like. I don't want to say nobody of real substance. Like. They had people of substance. But like. Like. You know. No Shaq. You know. Other than Tracy McGrady. None of his. None of his teammates. Really? No Phil Jackson. Like. None of his coaches. I wonder why. I. Who knows. Like.
[00:51:03] I wonder if it's. It was like. One of those things where it's like. You don't want to talk. Like. What CNN was trying to do. Because it was a CNN documentary. Right. Is explain the greatness of this. Of this person. And how he emerged from the darkness of this. This trial. Okay. And. Like you said. You know. They. Like.
[00:51:32] When it comes to the basketball stuff. They really didn't. Like. It was there. Obviously. Right. But. It wasn't what they were like. Focusing on. Okay. Like. It was like. What drove this man? You know. And. I. It was interesting enough. Like. I. But like. I wish it was better. That's fair. Yeah. Yeah. I wish it were. Like I said. There was a lot of meat on the bone. That I would have loved to have seen. I'm like. Really dig into. Yeah. And. Like. Have somebody like Shaq. Have Phil Jackson. Have like.
[00:52:02] Other coaches that he had with the Lakers. Like. Talk about like. Who he was. Like. Like. They didn't talk to anybody. But it was like. Like. Like. The guy who was like. The trainer was like. Nobody liked him. Like. Because he was. He was playing. Like. At one point. Like. Like. Showing like. It was like a practice video. Like. The coach. I can't remember his name. It wasn't Phil Jackson. It was before Phil Jackson. The coach was like. You know. There's practice reps. And there's game reps. And these are practice reps.
[00:52:32] Kobe. Because Kobe's going 100%. Yeah. You know. Like Jordan did. Exactly. That's what I was going to say. Yeah. Like. You know. So. I mean. Like. He. There's a reason why he was that good. And it's because he went 100%. 100% of the time. Yeah. You know. So. No. No. I get it. Very Jordan-esque. Yeah. And like. He. Like. He even talked about like. You know. Coaching his daughters. Mm. Like.
[00:53:01] He had the Black Mamba Academy. Which I think still exists. Mm. And his. But his daughters were playing. And like. He's like. I. Tracy McGrady. He's like. I went to a practice. To see what he was doing. Uh. And he's like. It was an NBA practice. Really? He was putting like. 12 year old girls through an NBA practice. Holy shit. Like. Yeah. Like. Expecting greatness from them. He wasn't playing around. No. But they. But. He also talks about like. Like. They. They.
[00:53:31] They were. Lose. Like. They were a losing team. When he took. When he started. Uh huh. And the next season. They were champions. And it's. It's. It's like. It's because of the confidence. He instilled in them. And the way he coached them. Right. That. That propelled them to greatness. That's crazy. Yeah. Hmm. Sounds good. I mean. I. I don't know if I'd watch it or not. I. I think you might enjoy it. But I think at the end of it.
[00:54:00] You're going to feel like me. Like man. There's a lot of meat on this bone. That it could have been. Right. Fitting into. You know what I mean? No. I hear you. Yeah. That's what it sounds like. Yeah. And the last thing. I read. I'm owning it to you right now. The Last Ronin. Okay. A. A. A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Book. Uh huh. And you liked it? It's really good. Okay. I can't remember who told. Like.
[00:54:30] Because we've talked about the turtles in the past. Right. Right. And I. I want to say it was Stork. Who told me. You know. You need to read The Last Ronin. Okay. And. I think they're making that into a cartoon. Really? Yeah. And if they are. I. I hope it's. As good as that book. Because that book is fantastic. Okay. The Four Wars written by Robert Rodriguez. I guess. Really? Yeah. Interesting. Yeah.
[00:55:00] So I think he has something to do with them doing a. A Last Ronin. Movie. Cartoon. Yeah. But. Yeah. It's. It's very. Very good. Okay. Um. So I. You'll. You'll enjoy it. Okay. I will read it. Yeah. I'm excited. There is a. A. It's a hobby store. That opened up. Up in Norwin Town Center. Okay. They sell cards. Like. Not just like.
[00:55:31] Pokemon or something. They have. They have baseball. Football. Hockey cards. Um. Legos. Galore. Really? Comic books. Like it's. It's. It's a small store. But they. They have a lot in there. Mm-hmm. And um. I might try talking to them. Because they do have a. A section in the back. For. Like. Gameplay. Okay. Like maybe like. Hey. Can we use that to record a podcast in here? Yeah. They may not allow alcohol though folks.
[00:56:00] Like I know the. Our. Our friends who would travel. You. You. It might be a dry show. Yeah. But uh. We might be. I might be looking into it. I can't remember what it's called. C. C. B. C. I can't remember. It's like some. I have to look it up. But. Yeah. I was in there. I bought a. What did I buy? I bought two things. I bought a Funko Pop. Okay. A Sabine Ren Funko Pop. And a.
[00:56:29] Godzilla minus one. Figure. Oh really? Yeah. That's cool. Yeah. So. But like. You know. That's something I want to go back to. And. There's some. Some interesting stuff. Hit them up. Yeah. I will. I will. So. That is what I have been up to. Cool. Yeah. So have you been enjoying the Aaron Rodgers watch? Ah. I've been like.
[00:57:00] Ugh. Halfway looking at it. I don't. I don't even know what's going on now. Well. I know he met. He was in Pittsburgh. And he met with the team yesterday from what I understand. Okay. It's that thing I talked about last year though. Okay. The problem you have.
[00:57:31] Is you've now. Now. Okay. You had no escape plan after. Roethlisberger. Which I understand. Right. You have. Kenny Pickett. Which is a mess. Which I understand. I won't deny. Hmm. But then you go to Russ and Fields. And you have no plan for either of them. Right. And you. And feel like. If you were going to sign anybody. You should have signed Fields.
[00:58:00] I agree. And you let him go to the Jets. Like. They're just in such a bind at the quarterback position. And now you're. You're hoping. You can sign. Old man Aaron Rodgers. Right. Because. Him and Mike Tomlin have had a love affair over the years. Right. And it's just like. Like. You. You can't.
[00:58:29] You can't have stop gaps. Right. Anymore. Okay. Like. I. At this point right now. I would much rather go with Mason Rudolph. Really? Yeah. The guy I really wanted them to sign. And it's. It's funny. Because it goes against everything I believe in. Hmm. Was Jameis Winston. Okay. He's probably. You put Jameis Winston in as your starting quarterback. He's probably going to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.
[00:59:00] Yeah. You know. And I understand it goes against everything I believe. But when you have Pickens and you have DK Metcalf. Like. You just need Jameis Winston just throwing the ball deep. Let him take a five step drop and unleash. Not about Metcalf. Yeah. Yeah. I guess the. That's the problem. Like. You now have. A Bugatti on one side. You know. And you have. A McLaren on the other. Yeah. You know. You have these two.
[00:59:30] Hyper car for wide receivers. Yep. And. You've got. Nobody throwing on the ball. Yeah. Like. It's ridiculous. I know. It's so ridiculous. And. I. I don't. Like. I love watching Aaron Rodgers shenanigans. From afar. Yeah. Like. When he was with Green Bay and appearing on Pat McAfee show. And talking shit about the Packers. Or.
[00:59:59] Appearing on Pat McAfee show. And talking shit about the Jets. That's great. I love it. Good entertainment. Very entertaining. I don't want. You know. Pittsburgh Steel or Aaron Rodgers. And the Pat McAfee show. Talking shit about. You know. The organization. Yeah. Because that's what's going to happen. I know. Like. Because he's going to come in. And you've got Artie Smith.
[01:00:28] Who runs one style of offense. Aaron Rodgers has run another style of offense. His entire career. Right. And you're going to tell Aaron Rodgers. You've got to run this. Right. And he's going to be like. No. We're going to run what I want to run. I know. I mean. It's. I'm honestly hoping he signs with the Giants. Really? Really. Because I don't. Like. He's not. At this age.
[01:00:57] He's not worth the hassle. Like. If this was Aaron Rodgers five years ago. I'd be like. Fuck yeah. But at. At 41. You know. He. He's just not. As good as he was. He's not. And he's fucking broke. Yeah. I mean. He's like broken. Yeah. Like. At least you can say this about Tom Brady. Tom Brady. Much like Kobe Bryant.
[01:01:27] Still showed he was. He could do it. Right. Like. Like. There was never the ghost of Tom Brady on the field. Like. I remember like. When the Broncos won that Super Bowl with Peyton Manning. That was the ghost of Peyton Manning. Like. He was not Peyton Manning anymore. All right. Like. You know. I agree. I agree. You know what I mean. Like. It was like that thing of like. Wow. Like. You are not. The guy. Like. It was like.
[01:01:57] He still had the smarts. He was maybe even smarter than he was. Yeah. But man. His body was not keeping up. No. You know. And. Like. At least with Tom Brady. Like. Even like. When he retired. You're like. I think Tom Brady may have another year or two in him. Yeah. Like. He may play a vital 50. Right. You know what I mean. Like. It was a very weird. Like. How his. But like. That is not Aaron Rodgers. Hayawasca and darkness retreats have not helped him. Right. You know. And.
[01:02:26] The Steelers are just in a situation where it's like. There's nobody worth drafting in this draft. Right. Like. Like. I would much rather just trot out Mason Rudolph. You know. Maybe Mike Tomlin gets that first losing season. Maybe you're picking in the top 10. And next year in Pittsburgh. You can draft your franchise quarterback. Right. You know. Because.
[01:02:54] Outside of Cam Ward. And maybe Shador Sanders. There is nobody else worth taking. Yeah. I know. You know. I'm hearing people talk about Jackson Dart. From Mississippi State. And like. I look at him and I go. Yeah. He was a good college quarterback. Yeah. He ain't going to be a good pro quarterback. No. No. Like. There are a couple guys that I've heard people talk about. Outside like. Sanders and. And Ward. And I'm just like.
[01:03:22] There's a reason they're not being drafted in the top 10. Right. Like. In a league that is starved for starting quarterbacks. Yeah. If nobody in the top 10 wants you. Then there's a reason. Yeah. You know. What's Sanders. What's up with Sanders? Well. I mean. What's good. What's bad. I think he's got all the tools to be.
[01:03:52] Like a top notch quarterback. Okay. I. The. The downside is. You know. He's. Deion Sanders son. Like he. He thinks he's great already. Oh shit. You know what I mean. Like. And that could end up being his downfall. Because. At the quarterback position. You have to have a level. Of humbleness. Yeah. Like you have to. There. There has to be a level of arrogance. There has to be a. You know. A level of cockiness. There has to be.
[01:04:22] A level of humbleness. Like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know. It's that thing of. Of like. There are very few. Who can like. Really outrun a defense. Yeah. Like. You know. Lamar Jackson is one of one. Yeah. You know. Like him or don't. Or don't like him. You know.
[01:04:52] What he does in the regular season. Like. When he has those big runs. And stuff. Like. There aren't many who can do that. Right. You know. Justin Fields is probably the other. Yeah. You know. If you think you are that good. That your athleticism. Is going to get you out of trouble. In this league. You are going to be in for a world of hurt. Yeah. You know. And. You know.
[01:05:21] It becomes that thing of like. I mean. The other. The other side of it is always. Especially with a guy like that. Like. Was he that good. Or was Travis Hunter that good. Okay. Like. Here's the great example. Okay. Who was the quarterback at Pitt. When Larry Fitzgerald was here. Do you remember.
[01:06:00] You don't remember. Rod Rutherford. Oh. Rutherford. Yeah. Okay. Rod Rutherford was the quarterback at Pitt. When Larry Fitzgerald played here. Okay. Okay. And. Larry Fitzgerald made Rod Rutherford look like a god. Okay. All right. Okay. The next year. When. Fitzgerald left. And Rod Rutherford was a senior. Rod Rutherford came tumbling back to earth. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like. Yeah.
[01:06:30] It was like all of a sudden like that. Okay. No. Rod Rutherford is not. I mean. It still ended up getting him. Like at least. He ended up being an unsigned free agent with the Carolina Panthers. I think he even played in an NFL game. That's good. Okay. But. It was all. It wasn't because. Of his talent. It's because of how good. Larry Fitzgerald made him look. Right. You know what I mean? So. It is that thing of like. Like how often.
[01:07:00] Like if you think about like. Ohio State quarterbacks. They don't play well in the NFL for the most part. Well. But Ohio State wide receivers. Dominate. Right. Yeah. Alabama quarterbacks don't do well in the NFL. Right. But Alabama wide receivers dominate. Dominate. Yeah. Like it's. That's the thing that I'm. I'm kind of looking at with Shador Sanders. Is like. Is he really that good? Okay.
[01:07:31] Or was it Travis Hunter. Made him look that good? Fair question. Yeah. So. Like. I mean. That's the. I think Cam Ward is a surefire. Guy. Like I like Cam Ward a lot. I wish the Steelers could get him. Like. He's. Big Ben. Esque. Okay. With his size. And the way he throws the ball.
[01:08:01] And everything. Like. Like. You could. Win with a guy like that. Whoever's going to end up getting him. You know. Unless it's Cleveland. Is. Is going to. Unless it's Cleveland. I'm sorry. Cleveland. Cleveland can fuck up a sure thing. Yeah. Like. You know. I'm. You know what I mean? Like. It's. I. The Browns. I. An AI. Predicted.
[01:08:28] Like the next 50 Super Bowls. Out of those 50 Super Bowls. There were six teams that don't even fucking exist that were winning. The Browns did not win one. AI even thinks the Browns suck. Right. You know. So like. I. If. If. Cam Ward goes to Cleveland. I mean. They fucked up Baker Mayfield. Yeah. How are you fucked up? Yeah. So I mean like. No. I have. If.
[01:08:56] If Cam Ward ends up going to Cleveland for some ungodly reason. Then. He's fucked. Like. I'm sorry. He is. As screwed as you can be. Right. Right. You know. But. Like. Boy. I wish he was going to be a stealer. You know. Where do you think he's going to go in the draft? I honestly think he's going to go to Tennessee. I think. Tennessee. Tennessee has got to be saying to themselves.
[01:09:24] How often do we pick in this position? Never. So here's our one shot. To get a franchise quarterback. Right. Like. Unless you are that high on Will Levis. Which I don't think they are. Okay. Like. If it was me. And I'm in that position. I'm. I'm taking Cam Ward. Okay. Number one. Like. I know like. Abdul Carter from Penn State. Who.
[01:09:53] Is probably the best player in the draft. Like. There's been talk like. He's going to go number one. And for Tennessee. Like. That's like a move that would make sense. Because that's something that they would do. Yeah. But. They have to take the quarterback. You can't. You can't sit there. Like. They're in that position of like. We need a quarterback at some point. Right. And. I don't know why you wouldn't be taking. Right. The surefire thing.
[01:10:27] So. Who knows. Like. I. But I think that's what they're going to do. I think. I think they take. They. I. I think. One. Is. Is. Is Ward. I think. Cleveland. Takes. Abdul Carter. Okay. And then. I can't remember who's picking three. I think it's the Giants. I think the Giants. Ends up taking Shador Sanders. Okay.
[01:10:57] And the Steelers. I think the Steelers. Ends up taking a running back. Really? Yeah. I think they're going to probably be looking at. I. The one mock draft I saw. And I haven't looked at many. I. I got to start looking at them. But the one mock draft I saw. I had them taking the kid from. Boise State. Really? Yeah. Good. Yeah. He's good. But I mean like. My thing becomes. If that's what you're going to do.
[01:11:26] You should have just signed. Najee. Okay. Like. You know what I mean? Like. You know. I don't think you're getting an improvement over. Najee. In the draft. But. Why. Why would you go and repeat. Like. What you did four years ago. Right. You know. So. It's. It's that weird thing of like. Like. I look at the Steelers. I'm like. Oh man. What is the plan here? You know. Yeah.
[01:11:56] I don't know what their plan is. I don't know either. But. It. It. It ain't good. Yeah. It's not looking good. No. They've got to have a cue. Yeah. I mean. The signing of Metcalf. Was good. That was huge. Yeah. Like. I mean. That was. That was huge. And that. Again. Like. It goes to show. It's like. It's no longer your. Your. Your. Your. Your. Your dad Steelers. You know what I mean? Like. For them to go and make a move like that is. Is.
[01:12:25] Is huge for the Steelers. Yeah. Like. But. Again. You got a Bugatti. You've got a McLaren. And. You know. You've got a Volkswagen throwing the ball. You got to get someone to throw in the ball. Yeah. Now I'm talking like a 71 bug. Not a. Not a good Volkswagen. You know. I don't know. Nah. We'll see.
[01:12:57] We will. But. I don't see. I just don't understand why they didn't sign Fields. I thought for sure they would have signed him. I. The only thing I can figure out is. They were like. We don't want to run an offense around Justin Fields. Which is what you have to do. Yeah. Like. You have to change the offensive style. Like. That was the thing. Like people said. Was like. Those first six games. He played.
[01:13:26] He was playing in the Russell Wilson offense. Right. Like they never changed the offense for Fields. And it was just the same offense they ran when Russell Wilson came in. Right. Well. I mean like. That. That has to be. It's the other thing. Like. I always heard this. And. And I. I agree with it to a certain extent. They see him every day. Like. Yeah.
[01:13:56] Like. You saw. Justin Fields. Every day in practice. You. You saw. Justin Fields. Every day in the. In the meeting room. You saw Justin Fields. Every day. In the weight room. Like. Right. What did you see. That made you say. We don't want to spend the money on this. Player. Yeah. Like. That's what I'm interested in hearing. Like. What did you see on a. Like. Because I only see you once a week. I see you on game day. And. And. While.
[01:14:27] You didn't wow me. Like. You played well enough. And I could sit there and say like. With the right offensive coordinator. The right quarterbacks coach. I could. You could develop this talent. Right. Like. Like. He had enough there. That I. Like. He. He. Turned me from somebody who was like. I don't want Justin Fields. Like. I think Justin Fields can be a player. If he's developed. Right. You know. And maybe you change the offense a little bit.
[01:14:55] To meet his skill set. Right. So. What did you see. Every day. That made you say. I would much rather go with a 41 year old broken down. Aaron Rodgers. Then. Bring. Bring this. This kid back. Right. Yeah. I don't get the Rodgers thing. Yeah. Like. I mean. It's. I just don't understand it. It's.
[01:15:25] The whole thing is mystifying to me. And like. You put yourself in this position. Like. While all the deck chairs were being rearranged. You were playing shuffleboard. Yeah. Like. There were opportunities out there. You could have gone and got Sam Darnold. You could have. You know. There were opportunities for you to go and get somebody. And you decided. Nah. Let's see what Aaron Rodgers wants to do. Yeah. Yeah. I know.
[01:15:57] It doesn't make any sense to me. No. I mean. If he doesn't sign with you. Like. You're stuck with like. Like Joe Flacco. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sick of flying. Yeah. Like that's. Like I said. Like. I mean. At this point. I would much rather just go with Mason Rudolph. Yeah. I hear you. I. Like. Maybe you spend the third round draft pick on. On a quarterback. You know. And. Hope. You find like a diamond in the rough. Right. But.
[01:16:26] Like. Like. Like right now. Like. Mason Rudolph to me is like your best option. Yeah. And like. I never thought I'd ever say that. I mean. I don't. I still don't believe it. No. But I mean like. I know what you're saying. He showed enough in those last three games. But. When he played. Like. To make you think like. Maybe. Maybe. Yeah. Like.
[01:16:54] I'm not saying he's going to need a quarterback to take you to the Super Bowl. Right. But like. If your goal is. Nine and seven. Or not nine and eight. In a playoff loss. Or. You know. Ten and seven. And. And a playoff. Mason Rudolph's your guy. Yeah. Like. You can keep this. Mediocrity run. Yeah. With Mason Rudolph.
[01:17:24] Yeah. You could. So. I mean like that. That's the thing. Like if you aspire to win a Super Bowl. How are they. On the ball defensively. I mean. That's the question. Because it's like. You know. You. You spend all this money. On Micah. And. And Cam.
[01:17:55] And. And TJ. And Highsmith. And like you bring. You know. They have the highest paid defense in the NFL. And. Like last year. Anytime you needed them to make a play down the stretch. They couldn't do it. No. They could not. They were getting the shit knocked out of them. Completely. Completely. I think something happened in the locker room. I've never seen anything like that in my life. I've never seen. Like. I've.
[01:18:22] I've never seen a complete collapse like that in my entire life. Watching Derrick Henry. As good as Derrick Henry is. Watching Derrick Henry. Just run for over 200 yards in the playoff game. Was embarrassing. Yeah. Like. And down. Well. Just down the stretch. Down the stretch. Before we even got to the playoff. Yeah. But like. Down the stretch. Like. How many games did they lose? Where it's like. Man. If we make it to the defense. To get a stop. Right here. We're still in this game. And we've got a chance. And instead. The defense gives up an 80 yard. Yeah.
[01:18:51] 15 play drive. Yeah. With like. Four third down conversions. Or something like. Something ridiculous. Where you're just like. At the end of the game. You're like. How did we lose this fucking game? Yeah. And why are we paying them so much? Exactly. Like. It. Still think something happened in that locker room. I have never seen anything. I haven't. I've never seen a ship go down like that so fast in my entire life. I mean. That shit wasn't even close. You know what I'm saying?
[01:19:21] Oh. Like. I'm like. Who are these people? But it's their MO. It's been their MO. The COVID year. Yeah. They went 11-0. They were the most disrespected 11-0 team. And then they lost the last five games of the season. Yeah. Limped into the playoffs. Got knocked out in the first round. Yeah. Like. This has been their MO for the past few years. You. The last like. Six. Seven games of the season.
[01:19:51] Are a fucking train wreck. You limp into the playoffs. And you lose in the first round. Yeah. Like. That is what they do now. Like. They get off to a hot start. And then all of a sudden. The wheels come off. Like. Is that coaching? It's something. Like. I. I. I. I. I. It's a. It's a number of different things. Like.
[01:20:19] There's got to be some accountability somewhere. Like. I. Like. I. I. Watched hard knocks. And I'm like. I'm watching Mike Tomlin. I'm like. I see why he's as respected as he is. Yeah. Like. You. But. Then you watch him on the field. And like. I mean. His time management has always been an issue. Yeah. You know. They don't make. Quality changes. Like. Like. The game plan is the game plan.
[01:20:48] Nothing changes. Yeah. They don't make it. Like. And I've always heard some people. Like. I've heard somebody say like. Well. What. What adjustments do you think take place in the locker room? Like. You know. At halftime. Well. Some teams have to be doing something. Like. Right. There has to be something. Like. You're. You're going. Okay. They're doing this to us. So this is what we're going to adjust to. Right. Like. There. I'm not saying you're making these drastic swooping changes at a game plan. But minor adjustments have to be made. Have to. You know. Like.
[01:21:18] I did it in high school. Right. Like. I would come off the field after the first drive. And I would talk to my offensive line coach. Right. I would talk to the head coach. Like. I would tell him. Okay. He's lining up here. The trackers are playing us. Okay. Well. This is what we want to do. This. Like. Like. We were making. In high school. We were making minor adjustments to how our blocking schemes were. Based on how they were lining up against us.
[01:21:48] Right. Like. You know what I mean. Like. And that's the high school level. You're going to tell me you can't do that at the pro level. Like. You can't look and say. Well. This is how the. This is how the coverage is. Right. Like. Your wide receivers can't communicate with you. And say. Well. This is what we need to do. Or. Let's try this. Or. Right. This is what they're doing. And so you come up with an idea. Like. If you can't fucking do that. That's a problem to me. Right. No. I know. But it's. I mean. I know.
[01:22:18] I always say it. But a great example was that. That. That playoff game against the Patriots. Tom Brady blew us up. Short. Beardish. Yeah. All fucking. All fucking. First. First. Half. They refused to get out of playing. Cut zone coverage. Yeah. That. They stuck with their zone coverage the entire game. And. And that was like. Like. Giving. A cherry on top. Yeah. For fucking Brady. Literally. It was. I mean like. It wasn't until years later. They didn't start beating Tom Brady until they started playing man coverage. Yeah.
[01:22:48] Yeah. It's crazy. You play a man too deep zone. All of a sudden Tom Brady was human against them. But that should have been writing on the wall. Yeah. Of Tomlin's ability coach. I know. It's just. There's no like. Change of gameplay. No. And you have to be able to change on the fly like that. And. And something I. A lot of people have been like. Well that's bullshit. He shouldn't have said that.
[01:23:19] Najee Harris was interviewed by San Diego media. He's out with the Chargers. Yeah. He's had a one year deal with the Chargers. And they were asking him like. What was wrong in Pittsburgh? Yeah. And he flat out said there's no leadership on the offensive side. He's like. My rookie year was the only year I had with. With Ben Roethlisberger. He's like. You looked around. Everybody else on that offense. Were one or two year guys. Yeah. Like. There was no veteran leadership. And I was being turned to to be the veteran leadership.
[01:23:50] I was a rookie. Yeah. I was a second year guy. Yeah. Like. There's no. Like. And he's like. I tried my best. But like. I had nobody I could turn to. There was no. There was nobody in. In the running back room. With more experience than me. Yeah. Like. Who am I supposed to rely on? Who am I supposed to talk to? How am I supposed to talk to the offensive line. When they're. As new as I am. Right. Like. He's like.
[01:24:20] There's so. There's a void. And if you look at the quarterback position. Like. Can he pick it for two years? Mitch Trubisky. Who's no leader. Yeah. You know. Like. He's like. There was nothing there at the quarterback position. Like. You know. There's. So there's no leadership from the top down. Right. And. People are like. Oh. He's just throwing. You know. Dirt on. On. On the wound. I'm like. But. It. It makes sense. There. There. There. There was no. There. Look at what he's saying. Yeah.
[01:24:49] Like. Yeah. Yeah. I. Cause like. You would look. The funny thing would be like. You would like. After a game. Like. He's the guy who's talking about. Like. Calling people out. Yeah. And people are pissed at him. And it's like. Well. Who's the. He's like. On the defensive side. You at least have like. TJ. And. Cam. And Mike. Like. You had. Leadership on the defensive side of the ball. But. Sure. I really can't talk to them. Like. I. I can't get. Help with what I'm trying to do on the offense. From a defensive guy. Right.
[01:25:19] Like. So. He's right. And it's like. That weird thing. Of like. Who is the offensive leader? Yeah. I know. I get it. I mean. I understand what you're saying. Yeah. Who is? No. No. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Like. You're talking about. Like. Next year. You're going to be like. Saying like. Well. Zach. Zach Frazier. Is the. The offensive leader. He's a second year player. Yeah. You know. Like.
[01:25:49] It can't be Pickens. No. You know. That guy has zero leadership skills. Agreed. You know. And DK Metcalf isn't much better. Like. DK Metcalf is. Like. I'm. I'm waiting. Like. Like. They might as well just put like a ring. A wrestling ring on the 50 yard line. So that Metcalf and Pickens can like. Just get. Form a tag team. Against whatever quarterback. Because they are going to be. Just. Fights galore. Yeah. Like. If you.
[01:26:18] Pickens is bad. DK Metcalf is just as bad. When it comes to that. Yeah. Like. You know. So like. They've got two guys who are just going to be crashing out. You know. Sure. Just. It's. It. You're. It's just. There's no leadership on that side of the ball. No. There's not. There's nobody to put these guys in check. No. Like. And. When Aaron. If you. Maybe that's why they wanted Rogers. But even that. You had that with Ross. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:26:48] You did. You know. Maybe you didn't take Russ seriously. Because he does it in a corny way. Where is. Where did Russ go? Nowhere yet. But like. You know. He's met with Cleveland. And the Giants. And I think somebody else. But. You know. I think it's clear that the Steelers aren't bringing him back. For whatever reason. Yeah. And. Like. I understand. Like. Again. Like. You know. There's a guy who. Lamped down the. The end of the.
[01:27:17] Of the season. Yeah. He had. He had that hot. And like. The thing that pisses you off. Is. Is like. He had that. Hot game. Against. Cincinnati. Yeah. That. Like. Threw for like. 300 some odd yards. Like 500 yards of offense. Something that hasn't been done in like. In years. Yeah. Like. And then. You reined him back in. For some ungodly reason. Yeah. And like. It was like. What. What are we doing? Yeah. I know.
[01:27:49] I don't understand that either. No. Let him go. Like. He has that 500 some odd yard game. Against. The Bengals. And you play them like. Three weeks later. And you can't move the ball at all. And their defense stinks. Yeah. I know. I know. They had Trey Henderson. And 11 doors. Like. Like. They have. Their defense is fucking awful. Right. And. You made them look like giants.
[01:28:20] I know. I know. I hear it. You know. Like. You made that Bengals defense look like the 85 Bears in that second game. Yeah. You know. They did. No. We can't. We can't let Russ do what he does. You know. Why? Why? Just let him go. Yeah. God. He looked good in that game. Like you. You. I watched that. That first Bengals game. I thought. Oh fuck. Here we go. Like. That gave me hope. Yeah. I'm like.
[01:28:51] Man. This offense is unstoppable. If you let. If this is what's going to happen. Yeah. And then. Nothing. Like. Stumbled down. Like. Like. You went from being in first place. Like. Up three games. Hottest team on the. On the NFL. Yeah. Yeah. To like. Second into the vision. But. Like. It was. The saddest fall. I've ever seen.
[01:29:20] Yeah. There. There. Questions have to be asked. You know what I mean. Like. I mean. And you can talk about. Like. The three games. And eleven games. Well. Guess what. The Ravens had to do that too. And you know what they did. They won all three. Yeah. The Steelers got pummeled in all three. Yeah. Truth. So. Anyway. Anyway. Anything. Anything you like to add to the proceedings there sir. I'm good sir.
[01:29:51] Well remember. There are a number of different ways. You can reach out and touch us. Hold on. I need to. Before we go there. I need to. You know. Old. Old friend of the show. Superfan. Thad has a. A right in or two here. Um. And there's at least one. Yeah.
[01:30:24] So. Thad and I said. I love Top Dog Law. They defended me in that infamous White Oak lawn pooping incident. Remember when I went around pooping on people's lawns. Hoping to poop in Sean's lawn. I don't recall that. But I'm glad Top Dog Law was there for you. Right. Um. Nice weather this week. Finally got a chance to take down my Christmas lights. All packed up and ready to go. Um.
[01:30:53] When I put them back up in August. Well. First off. Those lights should have been taken down December 26th. You lazy motherfucker. Get out there. If you. You got all the time in the world to put that shit up. Take it the fuck back down. Immediately. Ridiculous. Ridiculous. That they were up that long. I would have been fucking calling the police on you. Police. The whole way. Police. Somebody. I mean.
[01:31:24] It's like. It's like. It's like those people. Like. The day after an election. You have to take the election signs back down. You know what I mean? Like. You. Somebody has to go out there. And you have to take. Like. Take. Get your election signs down. Right. I agree with that. Well. That's what they do. Like. I think they have like a three day period after an election. That those signs have to be removed. Right. From public spaces. Like. If. If you're that jag off. Who. Who still has their. Their. Their Trump. Sign up.
[01:31:54] In your private property. That's up to you. Yeah. But like. Publicly. Like. They have to have election signs taken down. Within three days after the election. Right. Same thing with Christmas lights. You need to get that shit the fuck down. Like. Before the new year. Get it down. Get it down. So. That was his write-in from two weeks ago.
[01:32:23] And it looks like we got nothing from him this week. That's a shocker. He must have been busy with his. Marion Ross panty collection or something. Must have been. Must have been. Anyway. There are a number of different ways you can reach out and touch us. You guys have us an email like Thad does each and every week. That email address is PittsburghNerd at Yahoo.com.
