[00:00:00] Welcome to episode 550. packed People everywhere so it was the one on my Smith. Yeah, and Like the only good thing about it was they had every single line open. That's good. Yeah, so like I stood in line but like It wasn't like a situation like this five lines that were closed. What the hell like you know, it was like every line was open
[00:01:45] so
[00:02:44] who like procrastinate until like Mary's water breaks. Yeah.
[00:02:45] And then they're out doing their Christmas shopping.
[00:02:46] Like I get that.
[00:02:47] But like.
[00:02:48] Well, I wasn't, I was there to get food.
[00:02:51] Yeah.
[00:02:52] And I know that at Sam's Club, you can get, you know,
[00:03:00] I went with a rib roast this year.
[00:03:03] Yeah.
[00:03:04] Which were expensive.
[00:03:05] Right.
[00:03:06] But I know I can get it cheaper at Sam's
[00:03:07] and I can get it at it. an aisle with carts for one cashier. That was just like number nine. And they were like that everywhere. You couldn't get through the front of the store. It was a nightmare. So I did that. I went there and that was pretty much the day standing in line. And I went to G's
[00:05:25] What's that on? I ain't rented it. Okay, it's like six bucks. Yeah. I keep waiting for it to come on Paramount Plus. Yeah. In fact, I watched
[00:05:31] Two Mission Impossible movies this week because I wanted to watch that so bad.
[00:05:37] I'm like, I can't wait for this. Yeah, it was way he looked. Do you know what I mean? It was just strange. And what I think is hilarious is like you would think at some point like they would play that up. Like they would play like you know dude you're you're 60 something.
[00:07:00] I know. Like you know we know it's Like Luther and Benji are. You know? Excuse me, I have that cough. But yeah, Luther and Benji are getting old. It's really admitting, like, yeah, I can't do that anymore.
[00:08:21] There's Tom Cruise just plowing away a little interesting. It is good. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like, like, it's really good.
[00:09:43] Like Japanese, like in Japanese they, they did,
[00:12:21] the effects. It was just really good. Yeah it looked very good. And it was very... I don't want to make it... I don't want to make this sound terrible. It was very Japanese. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? No I get that. That makes it... The players involved. It looked like an anime brought to life. It was. And it was just like... It was just so good. This was a good movie. You know, it's funny because I watched Alice in Borderland too. I can't remember if that was Japanese or not. I think it was, but it might have been Korean. But the first season was great. I don't know if I mentioned this on the cast either the anime some of them some of the male characters as far as not in the real world. Not real world but yeah. separated like when you go from that like I was saying like the normal people yeah and then there was a definitely a distinct difference you can tell that this guy was like yeah not different being feminine but just different as in
[00:15:04] standing out special abilities yeah stuff like that I mean he yeah standing And this is part one. Right. But I did like the premise of it. Like the whole computer, you know. Yeah. AI and stuff. Yeah. I was like, wow, that's interesting. It is. To me. It is. You know, it's not just some kind of spy caper.
[00:16:21] Yeah.
[00:16:22] You know, there was a little bit more thought put into it.
[00:16:25] Well, I like it they've kind Rogue Nation and I watched Mission Impossible 6.
[00:17:42] And I thought, fuck, they're good. Yeah, he does some good movies.
[00:17:43] I liked, this is the only much and we wanted Bond to get away from gadgets and which they did with the Timothy or the
[00:19:03] Daniel Craig movies. They got away from the gadgets almost entirely. driving a mid-sized Volvo for some reason. It's always something like that where like, but then you have the rubber mask that comes into play at some point. Stuff like that. It's interesting to me how like, we dogged the bond for it, especially Pierce Brosnan,
[00:20:20] for like, oh the gadgets are just too much,
[00:20:23] oh the invisible car is ridiculous.
[00:20:25] But yet, with MissionD printing and stuff like that. I can see that. Right. But, not in 10 minutes. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah. You know what I'm saying? I guess a lot of like stretches. Yeah. But we let them go in the Mission Impossible movies because I feel like there's so much more to them than just the gadgets. Like the gadgets are just like an added bonus
[00:21:43] because of how physical Tom Cruise is. a car and he pulls up his little computer or whatever. Yeah. There's always a plan in car somewhere. Right. For him. Yeah. Just in case, just in case there's a plant somewhere that he can get to the, yeah. There's a BMW M five just waiting for him. Yeah. There's something.
[00:23:01] So he is like, it's coming up. It's coming up, enjoyable. Yeah. I agree. I don't care what anybody says. I love Tom Cruise movies and like he always usually puts out a really good movie. I agree. Um, Rockstar or whatever. That was not a good movie. No. But I
[00:24:22] mean like, and he's had a couple clunkers, but-to is always, I always watch it. I don't know why, but I love Or The Worlds. It is a good movie. I mean, if it's on, I'll leave it on.
[00:25:40] Yeah.
[00:25:41] Because it's a decent movie.
[00:25:43] It is, it's very good.
[00:25:44] Yeah.
[00:25:46] In his acting, I think it's really good in the movie.
[00:25:49] Yeah. Like, that was a really good science fiction movie. I remember you said it, yeah. Cause I watched it again, cause it was on. Oh, okay. I was like, I watch this, you know. And, uh, not that I'd forgotten what happened, but like, I think I watched it with a couple of the girls.
[00:27:01] Yeah.
[00:27:02] And, uh,
[00:27:03] I was like,
[00:27:03] get ready for the reveal.
[00:27:05] Yeah.
[00:27:05] Because, you know,
[00:27:06] did you see it?
[00:27:07] No, not yet.
[00:27:08] I won't care what happened. Yeah. I couldn't understand it. It was just, it was trying to do more than what the movie should have been. It was trying so hard to be an M. Night movie. Yeah. And it was bad. That was leave the world behind for those of you who don't know. Yeah, leave the world behind.
[00:28:21] I've lost a ton of shit.
[00:28:25] I was off for three days.
[00:29:22] Apple plus I recommend that
[00:29:24] Yeah
[00:29:32] Then on Netflix I watched Gran Turismo I saw that was on yeah, it's okay
[00:29:36] Like it I
[00:29:46] The thing that saves me in that movie is David Harbor is very good in it. Okay. I like David Harbor a lot
[00:32:21] Okay Jerome Butler? Yeah, Jerome Butler, yeah. What's it called? Hunter Killer. He is the commander of a submarine, Plane. I wanna see that. Yeah. Because it has Gerard Butler in it. Yeah, it was great. It was a classic Gerard Butler movie. Yeah. Now he does play in some movies that are better than that. Yeah, like the Angel series.
[00:32:23] Like the Angel was falling and.
[00:32:25] Yeah.
[00:32:26] Yeah, Olympus is falling.
[00:32:27] The fall, I guess, fallen series, not the Angel series. like yeah he does it's like the McLean effect yeah yeah but you know when you see him in that when you see him in that role as just the guy yeah it's so weird to me because I always put him on that 300 standard yeah you know what Xerxes was huge. Yeah. All this stuff but, damn, it's good. It's been a couple years since I've seen 300. It's probably been four or five years since I've watched it. Yeah. And I might have to revisit that. Well, as well we're talking. It just makes you want to kick some ass.
[00:35:02] Oh yeah. You know what I mean?
[00:35:03] What do you think?
[00:35:04] This is Sparta.
[00:35:06] Oh man. Kick that dude in the well.
[00:35:07] Yeah. Oh my goodness. There is a history to this movie. The history of this movie is Zack Snyder pitched this idea to Lucasfilm to be a Star Wars movie. And they turned it down. I understand there with the story. But it gets bat shit crazy at times in the same way Sucker Punch does. I like Sucker Punch a lot of me was also like okay so that would have been an Imperial Star Destroyer that would have been this this would have been this this would be like that character would have been like a disgraced Jedi or something like like there was a whole bunch of things going through me that were like this is what this would have
[00:39:00] been if this had been a Star Wars story yeah I need to go back and rewatch it Right. But that's what I love about Zack Snyder movies. And so I'm all in on it. So if you don't like Zack Snyder, don't bother. Right. But if you're cool with that, get into this because it is bad ass. That's cool. Yeah. Cool. I'll watch it. Yeah. I'm ready. I've been waiting for it. Yeah. 100.
[00:40:21] Like I got home Thursday night.
[00:40:24] I went to go see the iron claw. Iron claw.
[00:41:22] Thursday night, okay
[00:41:25] They and they were
[00:41:31] It's considered cursed. I'm not gonna spoil anything here by telling you like there were in real life There were five brothers four of them died. Okay in the movie. There's four brothers. They cut out Chris von Eric
[00:41:40] and then three of them died
[00:42:49] Zac Efron does a phenomenal job and it's like at the beginning of the movie he talks about like all I want to be is with my brothers.
[00:42:52] You know, it's God, family and wrestling.
[00:42:57] Those are the, that's what I believe in, you know.
[00:43:00] And I just want to be with my brothers and I want to take care of my brothers and I want
[00:43:03] to make sure they're okay. I'm numb to this and then spoiler alert Not really, but it is at the end of the movie He's watching his two sons play football now earlier in the film The brothers were playing football with the dad. Yeah, and he's sitting there
[00:44:20] He's watching his two sons play football and he starts crying
[00:44:23] And his sons come over and like what's wrong daddy? What's wrong? He's like well, you know
[00:45:27] was. It was sad. It really was. I felt bad for whoever that actor was because it was a horrible...he just...you know...and when I get it, the hardest thing in the world to
[00:45:36] do, play Ric Flair. Like, that he was phenomenal. But again, from an art house
[00:47:03] standpoint, I'm trying to compare it to Godzilla minus one. And it an Adam Driver movie. Yeah, I watch that. Yeah. Where it's like 64 million years. Yeah, it wasn't bad. It was okay. Yeah, I mean I thought it was okay. Yeah, I like Adam Driver a lot. Yeah. And I thought he was very good in this. I remember when the
[00:48:20] trailer came out I thought, oh, this is just bullshit. Yeah. Castle. Oh, okay. I haven't watched that in forever. That's a regular here. Yeah, I know. But I haven't watched it in a very long time. It was fun to revisit. I'm going to go through a few of those. Some of them I haven't seen. I don't think I've ever seen Princess Moon's Day.
[00:49:41] Okay.
[00:49:42] I'm pretty sure I saw Spirit in a way.
[00:49:45] Okay.
[00:49:46] I know I've watched How else. I just can't think of it
[00:51:04] but I Like this playlist came up and It started off with Queen right yeah wasn't I got to be free
[00:52:25] Can't remember the song so we're listening to this and the music's on par, you know
[00:55:00] Musically yeah and Well, what I thought was right. Losing my religion. So started off Dun, from memories of my childhood, I guess. And what this song makes me think of.
[00:55:03] So I'm just gonna not sing, but I'm gonna hum, whatever.
[00:56:06] playlist like that. Yeah, I mean like Queen was bad enough. Whoever was singing the Queen song was good. It just it just
[00:56:09] wasn't the Mercury and like whoever was singing Losing My
[00:56:12] Religion was good but it wasn't Michael Stipe but this was like
[00:56:17] it would just wasn't even near. Yeah, I was, I don't know. I guess it's things, I mean, I remember when Living on a Prayer came out. I mean, every woman.
[00:57:40] Oh yeah.
[00:57:41] Every teenage girl just melted.
[00:57:42] Yeah.
[00:57:44] You know what I mean?
[00:57:44] Oh yeah.
[00:57:46] Wasn't Runaway, which is probably one of his best songs. huge. They followed out with New Jersey. I mean, I had bad medicine on it and stuff like that. I mean, that was another huge hit for them. But like, like the OGs were like, there were girls in high school who were like wearing like Bon Jovi t shirts, like the hardcore girls, who were like, you know, like I was here for runaway bitch.
[01:00:00] Yeah. And it was like, well, like, yeah, I like pyromania,
[01:00:04] but I do Def Leppard win.
[01:00:06] You know.
[01:00:07] Exactly.
[01:00:09] I mean, you can make that comparison
[01:00:11] to the other place with any record.
[01:00:13] Right.
[01:00:14] But he had some good, even just slow stuff.
[01:00:19] I mean, Joby can sing, but I mean, it's really,
[01:00:25] I mean, it's really Sambora.
[01:01:22] What was the one in Pittsburgh? I'll be there for you. No, that was um.
[01:01:26] Was that Dead or Alive?
[01:01:28] Yeah, that was Dead or Alive.
[01:01:29] Crazy, right?
[01:01:30] Yeah.
[01:01:32] Yeah, Keith, I mean, that was like the, I mean,
[01:01:35] that was kinda like their version of Turn to Page.
[01:01:41] Yeah, but that was a good song.
[01:01:44] Yeah. I mean, Turn to Page was a good song too.
[01:01:46] Yeah, Turn to Page was.
[01:01:46] But like, Seeker's like, He ain't pullin' a dead cat out of the water. Yeah. Tell me about it then. Yeah, life in the barren sea is coffee. You ain't been on the morn. Yeah, carpe-y people. Yeah. Take the riverboat sometime. See what washes up when you get on the other side. Yeah, argh, argh.
[01:03:02] But, uh... Yeah, you set your crab traps on there.
[01:03:04] You tell me what you catch.
[01:03:06] See ya.
[01:04:05] Yeah, definitely better roses is why is a really good song and as far as harmony wise
[01:04:12] That's I think that's one of Sam Bora's best. Yeah with Jovi. Yeah, you know what I mean like and
[01:04:15] always Always is a great song. Yeah. Well that also to the
[01:04:19] The vocals on that are just absolutely amazing
[01:04:23] Really, I mean I
[01:04:27] Mean I don't like what they did the skid row I love that. That's classic. Saturday I'll be Saturday night or someday I'll be Saturday night. That's a good one. It's my life. That was a good one too.
[01:05:42] You give love a bad name.
[01:05:44] That was probably the first one they came of those, they didn't release. You couldn't release the whole fucking album. They've released a lot of stuff.
[01:07:00] Was Runaway and Footloose? No.
[01:07:04] No. one that has It's My Life. Yeah. Okay, the 85 was 70, 70, 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That's, and that was it. I was either in somebody's basement playing Dungeons and Dragons or I was playing football. That was my life. I wasn't going to parties. The one party I went to I
[01:09:41] fell asleep at. So I mean I never in that Jovi camp because at the time I was so in the crew. Yeah. So I wanted to get out the... I wanted to get into the crew camp. Right, but I was... I'm glad I didn't. Right. But those were like... It was like Crew and Poison and Leopard and Jovi and bands like that that I was like...
[01:12:04] was not singing about getting drunk, getting laid, having a good time.
[01:12:05] No.
[01:12:06] No.
[01:12:06] Like, you know, that's the music I was listening to.
[01:12:11] That's what I was preparing myself for.
[01:12:14] Yeah.
[01:12:14] Yeah.
[01:12:15] I mean, we're going to have nothing but a good time, you
[01:12:18] know?
[01:12:18] Right.
[01:12:19] And don't get me wrong, I did listen to that music as well.
[01:12:21] Right.
[01:12:22] You did.
[01:12:22] But you were also.
[01:12:23] But when I phased into back then, just because it was more pop than it was New Age. Yeah. But anyway. New Order. The Smiths, Morrissey.
[01:15:00] I was like going down that rabbit hole as well. I think not still I mean after all these years I see I will still go back and listen to Cinderella, right? Like out of that hair metal band hair style Poison Cinderella
[01:16:23] Rat
[01:16:25] Even some wasp thrown in a little yeah though because some of the bands I never got into like I never got into Priest I like Priest songs but I never like really got into Priest at all. Right, me and I. Like I like to I like you know breaking the law came on I'm there but you know yeah I wasn't buying albums. Do I respect him as a singer and do know, there's some great songs that they've done. But I mean, like you're like, Heaven's On Fire. Lick it up. Lick it up. Oh, it's terrible. Like the message is horrible. Oh yeah. Horrible.
[01:19:00] Domino.
[01:19:01] Yeah.
[01:19:01] Oh yeah.
[01:19:02] Horrible.
[01:19:03] Yeah.
[01:19:04] But you know, I like the songs. Someone. But the beginning of hair metal was completely different from where it ended up. And when G&R came in, that was at a bad point in hair metal. I feel. I feel that hair metal went from some really good songs and then it went into like...
[01:20:21] No offense to my cousin Jane, but it went into like Trick to the Angels. Yeah but singing on that was incredible. It was. I'm not gonna deny it. Yeah but I mean like there are other songs on that album that are very very good. Yeah. You know they're better than Fly to the Angels. Yeah. You know their
[01:21:41] second album is phenomenal in my opinion. I mean like and it like I mean Jamie Lane said it best like he was like we released a new album and one week later like I mean crew would look at some of these bands and say man these guys are fucking pussies, right? They have never
[01:24:21] They cannot hang with us
[01:25:25] Metallica. No matter what basis they had, it was probably better than Mickey Six. Okay. You know. But at the same point, it was two different types of metal.
[01:25:32] Right. You know what I mean?
[01:25:34] Right. But like, even when metal, for myself, even when...
[01:25:41] How can I put this? Like, when metal went to the Pantera route, I started listening to European metal. Like Hammerfall. And Man of War. Yeah. Ice-Dirth. Yeah. That was the stuff I started listening to. Yeah, you know, like one of the greatest song lyrics of all time is, May your sword stay wet like a young girl in her prime. Yeah. That's what I mean. Like, oh, shit. Yeah, I know. You know. But like in America, American, like Metallica, they're, that was all history. A lot of that shit was history.
[01:28:20] Yeah.
[01:28:21] You know what I mean?
[01:28:22] Creeping death and whiplash.
[01:28:24] Right.
[01:28:25] That was Blitzkrieg.
[01:28:26] I mean, yeah.
[01:28:26] That was like.
[01:29:24] version of the Everlong. I don't I don't fucking care. Oh whatever that whatever comes out of that man's mouth I fucking bullseye on your head and fucking I just
[01:29:32] can't do it. So one more thing I have to mention this since we're on the music
[01:29:38] biz. When you go through, how he's locked in the guitarist is amazing. Is amazing. Yeah.
[01:31:00] Like Black Label Society is really good.
[01:31:02] Yeah.
[01:31:05] I mean, Randy Rhodes put out good music. Like, I mean, I don't... You're right, like, the guitarists, the musicians he's worked with have been amazing as a solo artist. But I also think, like, just the music that he's produced has been very, very good over the years.
[01:32:22] Like, you know, there are some amazing I like David Berg. I don't know what it is. I'm not gonna besmirch that, but I'm not a fan. Like I'm not a fan of the talking heads, I'm not a fan of him.
[01:33:40] Yeah.
[01:33:41] But like I get why people hold him in high esteem.
[01:33:46] Yeah.
[01:33:47] It's just not for me.
