Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio.
This week the Film Rage Crew went to Moana 2 so they could listen to The Rock sing. Then they watched The G where Dale Dickey had them mesmerized. Next up was the Bio-pic Maria which sees Angelina Jolie at her best. In the Mesmerized Off this week we were hoping for Tom Hardy vs. Olivia Coleman in the film Locke but it turns out that Olivia is never seen in the entire film. Finally Bryce was forced to watch Bachelorette in the Rage or Dare segment. Does Bryce think it is as bad as Jim hopes or is it another meh from Jim's Rage Bag.

[00:00:04] It's time to feel the rage! Welcome to Film Rage where we talk movies, in theaters, streaming and classic films as well. Directors and actors beware, as you cannot hide from the rage. Don't even try.
[00:00:20] My name is Bryce and I'm part of the Film Rage crew which also includes Jim. Hey Jim.
[00:00:28] Hey, hey Bryce.
[00:00:33] And the Merman! Hey, you're wearing a Film Rage t-shirt.
[00:00:36] Imagine that.
[00:00:38] Can people get those somewhere?
[00:00:40] I don't know. Jim was an expert on that one. Red bubble, tea topic, something or other.
[00:00:45] Yeah, all the red bubbles and tea topics.
[00:00:47] Tea topics?
[00:00:48] Just go to our website.
[00:00:49] Yeah, just go to our website.
[00:00:50] You can find everything.
[00:00:51] Cool.

[00:01:23] And we'll watch it if it played anywhere in a cinema in the world.
[00:01:28] Now, let's get to raging.
[00:01:30] The music, I'm a predictor.
[00:01:41] Which role will he predict the mondo?
[00:01:47] Will they tell us all what Jim and Bryce are at the movies?
[00:01:51] Here he comes now at a watch out kids.
[00:01:55] He's coming swimming to you.
[00:01:59] Swimmery, swimmery.
[00:02:01] Swimmery, swim.
[00:02:03] Swimmery, swimmery.
[00:02:05] Swimmery, swim.
[00:02:07] Swimmery, swim all the way to our hearts.
[00:02:09] Our little hearts, hearts, hearts.
[00:02:13] Just a reminder to people, this literally is our listeners' favorite segment.
[00:02:19] I get it all the time on social media.
[00:02:20] It's tough on that hard to believe.
[00:02:21] They're like, it's the song.
[00:02:22] It's all about the song.
[00:02:23] It must be you guys singing it then.
[00:02:24] Well, it's also...
[00:02:25] Because I despise that song.
[00:02:27] This is like the best song.
[00:02:29] I just listen to it on repeat at home.
[00:02:32] I'm sure you do.
[00:02:33] In my bathtub.
[00:02:35] All right.
[00:02:35] So you guys went to three movies.
[00:02:37] We did.
[00:02:38] Once again, I went to none.
[00:02:39] Even if I did have spending money that I could go to movies with,
[00:02:43] these three wouldn't appeal to me at all.
[00:02:44] So...
[00:02:45] What?
[00:02:46] First one, of course, was the big deal.
[00:02:50] Moana 2.
[00:02:51] Duh.
[00:02:52] Because they always need sequels when they're animated.
[00:02:54] Always.
[00:02:55] With, of course, Dwayne The Rock.
[00:02:57] And from what I heard, it made like $300 million over the weekend.
[00:03:02] So...
[00:03:03] That's Rock the Dwayne Johnson.
[00:03:05] Whatever.
[00:03:05] So I guess it put butts in the seats, even if it was a cartoon.
[00:03:08] You know what?
[00:03:08] That's all that matters right now is keeping those cinemas alive.
[00:03:11] Yeah.
[00:03:12] But they have to put this stuff out to get them there.
[00:03:14] Yeah.
[00:03:15] I don't know.
[00:03:15] It's a sequel to a movie I never saw in the first place.
[00:03:19] And I'm sure it had interesting numbers and musical things.
[00:03:23] And apparently one of them is, can I get a hooey or something like that?
[00:03:27] Whatever the hell that means.
[00:03:29] It's a whole Hawaiian thing, which I am not Polynesian, so I don't understand.
[00:03:33] But...
[00:03:34] I don't think I've ever had a hooey.
[00:03:35] Apparently.
[00:03:36] Well, you should.
[00:03:37] You should give a hooey, apparently.
[00:03:39] I had a hooey just last night.
[00:03:40] Yeah.
[00:03:41] When I was in my bathtub.
[00:03:42] No, sorry.
[00:03:42] I think it's chewy.
[00:03:43] Not that I care.
[00:03:44] Whatever it's called.
[00:03:45] A hooey?
[00:03:46] I don't know.
[00:03:47] I've given myself a chewy.
[00:03:49] Who hasn't?
[00:03:50] Anyway.
[00:03:51] I don't know.
[00:03:51] It's animated.
[00:03:52] I don't think it was stupendous story-wise.
[00:03:56] I mean...
[00:03:56] And probably had a lot of musical numbers, so let's go double mad with that one.
[00:04:00] Alright!
[00:04:01] Yes!
[00:04:02] True!
[00:04:03] Bryce is excited!
[00:04:05] The G, which I have no frickin' idea.
[00:04:07] I mean, I saw the trailer like literally, you know, an hour ago.
[00:04:11] It's got Dale Dickey in it.
[00:04:12] Is that who that is?
[00:04:13] Yeah!
[00:04:13] She's awesome.
[00:04:14] It must stand for Grandma, because it looks like it's a grandma who kicks ass.
[00:04:19] I like Dale Dickey.
[00:04:20] I like Dale Dickey.
[00:04:20] Because she's got a shotgun and...
[00:04:21] Ain't nobody better!
[00:04:23] Apparently, she's not a nice person.
[00:04:25] Mmm...
[00:04:25] Whatever.
[00:04:26] Yeah.
[00:04:27] That's what she says!
[00:04:28] She said it twice in the trailer.
[00:04:30] I'm not a nice person, she says.
[00:04:31] So there you go.
[00:04:32] But she's a good person to have on your side.
[00:04:35] Yeah, totes.
[00:04:36] So if she's like Liam Neeson by the female.
[00:04:40] I don't know.
[00:04:41] She's so much better.
[00:04:43] She's so much better than Liam Neeson.
[00:04:44] I don't know.
[00:04:45] I'm sure you guys love it.
[00:04:47] Plus, I guarantee she could kick Liam Neeson's ass.
[00:04:49] If shits and giggles, let's just go double Mondo.
[00:04:52] Okay.
[00:04:54] This is I'm tired of giving out man.
[00:04:57] So tired.
[00:04:58] Then we got Maria, which is Angelina Jolie as an opera singer.
[00:05:05] Right!
[00:05:05] Apparently a real one.
[00:05:07] It's a biopic of some kind.
[00:05:09] Yes!
[00:05:09] I tell you, if you like your lip syncing, you're gonna love this movie.
[00:05:13] I'm pretty certain that Angelina Jolie does not know how to sing.
[00:05:15] So yeah, I'm sure.
[00:05:16] She can lip sync with the best of them though.
[00:05:18] Well, that's what I go to a movie for to see somebody lip sync.
[00:05:21] There was one scene for about a half a second.
[00:05:23] It almost looked like she was singing.
[00:05:25] She was trying.
[00:05:26] Almost.
[00:05:27] And then I was like, you know what this reminds me of?
[00:05:28] But then...
[00:05:29] Ashley Simpson.
[00:05:30] Yes!
[00:05:31] Ashley Simpson.
[00:05:33] I tell you.
[00:05:33] The less famous Simpson.
[00:05:35] But yeah, you know.
[00:05:36] Whatever.
[00:05:36] Yeah.
[00:05:38] Angelina Jolie.
[00:05:39] I mean, she's not exactly the world's greatest actress anyway.
[00:05:42] So...
[00:05:43] Isn't she?
[00:05:43] Just to round it out, let's go double rage.
[00:05:46] Wow!
[00:05:47] There you go.
[00:05:48] Hot take!
[00:05:49] Hot take!
[00:05:50] Hot take!
[00:05:51] Hot take!
[00:05:51] A little bit of everything.
[00:05:53] And that's how many shits I gave about that.
[00:06:02] I'm feeling pretty groovy.
[00:06:04] I am too.
[00:06:05] I'm a little more giddy than when we got here.
[00:06:08] Yeah.
[00:06:10] I'm the same.
[00:06:11] Bryce had to work with some anger issues.
[00:06:13] Yeah, me and Bryce almost got into fisticuffs.
[00:06:15] Yeah, whatever.
[00:06:16] It was awesome.
[00:06:17] It was the best.
[00:06:20] Anyways, you're gonna intro everything just so you know.
[00:06:23] Alright, okay.
[00:06:23] Sounds good.
[00:06:24] News flash.
[00:06:26] News flash.
[00:06:26] Bryce is dialing it in.
[00:06:28] Alright, so okay.
[00:06:29] First of note, I never saw the original Moana.
[00:06:35] I didn't until a couple weeks ago.
[00:06:37] It was on TV recently.
[00:06:38] Well, did you even get to watch it all?
[00:06:40] Oh, because didn't you say you fell asleep like six times in it?
[00:06:42] Oh yeah.
[00:06:42] Well, no.
[00:06:42] I fell asleep.
[00:06:43] Have you seen it?
[00:06:44] Well, no, I haven't seen the end.
[00:06:45] Oh, okay.
[00:06:46] Well, I've seen the first.
[00:06:47] You missed the best part then.
[00:06:48] I've definitely seen the first 20 minutes.
[00:06:50] Okay.
[00:06:51] And maybe.
[00:06:51] I made a kind of in and out of conscious for the like the middle 40 minutes.
[00:06:56] And I don't think I saw anything in the last part.
[00:06:59] Well, there you go.
[00:06:59] Well, I think that pretty much set me up for this one.
[00:07:01] You should.
[00:07:02] Well, probably, but you know what?
[00:07:03] You need to go back and watch the last.
[00:07:06] I don't know.
[00:07:07] 10 minutes because it's got Jermaine Clement in it as a giant crap.
[00:07:11] Oh, okay.
[00:07:12] That shadows guy.
[00:07:14] That is what we do in the shadows.
[00:07:16] Yes.
[00:07:17] Flight of the Conchords guy.
[00:07:18] Flight of the Conchords guy.
[00:07:19] Even sings.
[00:07:19] Even sings.
[00:07:20] He's so good.
[00:07:21] So knowing that I hadn't seen the original and apparently Bryce only saw some of the original.
[00:07:27] Yeah.
[00:07:27] I was a little bit lost at the beginning of Moana too.
[00:07:30] I'm not going to lie.
[00:07:31] No surprise.
[00:07:32] It's Disney.
[00:07:33] Yep.
[00:07:34] It assumes that every movie they have made that everyone has seen the prequel.
[00:07:41] Yeah.
[00:07:41] In case you can't see me right now, my eyes are like rolling around in their head.
[00:07:49] It's not a prequel.
[00:07:49] It's just the first movie.
[00:07:52] Oh, right.
[00:07:52] Okay.
[00:07:53] Well, that's the OG.
[00:07:54] A prequel is when you make a movie and then you release the movie after it that's actually
[00:07:58] took before, took place before the first one.
[00:08:01] Yeah.
[00:08:01] You re-cast it as young OG.
[00:08:03] Oh, okay.
[00:08:03] You know what?
[00:08:04] You're all confused.
[00:08:05] Yeah.
[00:08:06] Well, I was confused when I watched this movie.
[00:08:07] All right.
[00:08:08] But in this one, it felt like a pretty traditional tale of Hawaiian islands.
[00:08:14] Hmm.
[00:08:14] Although I'm not an expert, so I don't know.
[00:08:17] The storyline it brings was kind of interesting enough and brings a family together to solve
[00:08:23] a problem.
[00:08:23] What problem you ask?
[00:08:25] Extinction of a culture.
[00:08:27] If they cannot connect with other people, they will be going extinct.
[00:08:32] The voice actors are typical Disney feel.
[00:08:36] The chicken and the pig are cute and everything the chicken does is adorable.
[00:08:40] Yeah.
[00:08:40] I'm not sure who Maui was when we learned that there was a guy named Maui.
[00:08:46] Yeah.
[00:08:47] But he was played by Dwayne the Rock.
[00:08:49] Rock the Dwayne.
[00:08:50] Yeah.
[00:08:51] Rock the Dwayne Johnson.
[00:08:53] Oh, okay.
[00:08:53] Say it right.
[00:08:53] Sure.
[00:08:54] Okay.
[00:08:54] Hit it.
[00:08:55] That guy.
[00:08:56] Or what significance he even has from the first one.
[00:08:59] Because guess what?
[00:09:00] I didn't know because I hadn't seen it.
[00:09:04] Yeah.
[00:09:05] So, um, just to end.
[00:09:08] Alan Tudyk played Hey Hey.
[00:09:09] I didn't, I can't believe that Alan Tudyk, that's, I mean, it's not like.
[00:09:13] I love Alan Tudyk.
[00:09:13] I know.
[00:09:14] It's not like, but it's not like he's like, it's weird that he, that he played Hey Hey.
[00:09:18] He has like done like a dozen voiceover stuff.
[00:09:21] Like every animated thing out there.
[00:09:22] Yeah.
[00:09:22] But he's just, he's just a stupid bird that like gets into.
[00:09:25] Yeah.
[00:09:25] But he's, he's probably got some sarcasm and wit.
[00:09:28] No, but he doesn't say anything.
[00:09:29] He doesn't say anything.
[00:09:30] He just makes noises.
[00:09:30] He just makes noises.
[00:09:31] Oh, he doesn't actually talk?
[00:09:32] No.
[00:09:32] That's why I have, it's weird that they get Alan Tudyk to do that.
[00:09:36] That's a waste.
[00:09:36] Because no one can do chicken like Alan, okay?
[00:09:39] Anyways.
[00:09:39] Go ahead.
[00:09:40] Sorry, I got distracted.
[00:09:41] It's a paycheck.
[00:09:42] So what was I saying?
[00:09:44] Oh yeah.
[00:09:44] Yeah.
[00:09:46] So just a hint, Disney.
[00:09:49] Yeah.
[00:09:49] Maybe put something in the beginning.
[00:09:51] If you continue to make these and I'm putting in heavy quotes here.
[00:09:54] Mm.
[00:09:54] TV series type movie channel.
[00:09:57] To get us up to speed.
[00:09:58] Yeah.
[00:09:59] So that, you know, um, you know, it'd be something like potentially, you know, like the weekly
[00:10:05] TV shows when we were kids where it was like last week's episode.
[00:10:09] Last week on Moana.
[00:10:11] Yeah.
[00:10:11] Uh, same bat time, same bat channel.
[00:10:14] Mm.
[00:10:15] Which it just kind of felt like this could have been one of those ones.
[00:10:19] Cause you know, Disney does that.
[00:10:21] Well, they're just going to release this on Disney channel, you know, whatever.
[00:10:26] Yes.
[00:10:26] The music is very musical kids show feeling and none of the songs stood out as ones I
[00:10:33] would want to listen to ever again.
[00:10:34] Um, on, on judging as to who would appreciate this film.
[00:10:42] I feel, I feel as follows people who actually like Disney cartoons already kids, maybe who
[00:10:51] are eight and for parents, there was not anyone in this show that would annoy you to the point
[00:10:57] of filling you with rage.
[00:10:58] I don't feel the production values are good.
[00:11:00] And once the rock shows up and he does what he does best.
[00:11:04] And as expected, everything goes as planned with a few bumpy waves, including hilarious,
[00:11:10] blow darting, coconut wearing monkeys, giant sea clam monsters, an evil bat lady, sea
[00:11:16] beast curses and assorted things to make kids scared for a few minutes till something funny
[00:11:23] happens again.
[00:11:24] And then they're happy.
[00:11:24] So, you know, I didn't mind it.
[00:11:26] It really isn't for me though, but it's well done.
[00:11:29] It's like, it's just one of those ones that it's like, I don't think I'm the intended audience.
[00:11:34] Well, I know I'm not the intended audience.
[00:11:36] I mean, if my grandson was old enough, I would take him to this.
[00:11:39] Yeah.
[00:11:40] Um, I'm guessing it's let's, it's a mad guess, but it's a, I guess it's a low mad.
[00:11:46] Cause you know, I, I, I can't see parents loving this.
[00:11:50] No, they're not going to love this, but everything you're saying is absolutely true though.
[00:11:56] It's, it's harmless.
[00:11:58] It's, and it's, it's a, you know, there are entertaining little bits in it as a, you know, full fledged movie.
[00:12:07] I can't imagine any adult genuinely finding this.
[00:12:10] There are some that you go with your kid and you're going to, you're going to enjoy it equally to your kid enjoying it.
[00:12:15] Yeah.
[00:12:16] I guarantee your kid's going to enjoy this more than you did.
[00:12:18] A hundred percent.
[00:12:19] But it's not bad.
[00:12:21] It's not.
[00:12:22] And it's done well.
[00:12:24] And just like the first one, I liked the fact that there isn't, there isn't really a villain per se.
[00:12:29] There's a bunch of people that kind of seem like villains at first, but then when you get to know them, they're actually not, they're all just trying to do their best.
[00:12:36] And it's kind of a cut.
[00:12:38] It's got that weird dynamic, just like the first one did where there is no real villain.
[00:12:42] There's some people that are perceived as villains, but then you learn about them, you get to know them and you're like, oh, that's why they're doing this.
[00:12:49] And this actually makes sense.
[00:12:50] And it's like, okay.
[00:12:51] And then they talk to each other and then all of a sudden they're friends.
[00:12:54] And you know what?
[00:12:55] It's nice.
[00:12:56] Yeah.
[00:12:56] Although it's a nice movie.
[00:12:58] In the, in the first one, you know, I was kind of impressed that they killed somebody off.
[00:13:03] Hmm.
[00:13:04] In this one, I was like, nobody gets murdered.
[00:13:06] No one gets murdered in this one.
[00:13:07] I would hope not.
[00:13:08] It's a cartoon.
[00:13:09] Well, no, Disney likes to kill people.
[00:13:11] Back in the day, Disney used to kill people all the time.
[00:13:13] They're killing people.
[00:13:14] I've been right in it.
[00:13:16] Yeah.
[00:13:16] No, they scarved me for life when I was a child.
[00:13:18] Thank you very much.
[00:13:20] But yeah.
[00:13:20] Yeah.
[00:13:21] And I'm like, yeah, those are all very scarring movies.
[00:13:24] Yeah.
[00:13:24] This is, this is, you know, kind of entertaining.
[00:13:30] It's not the worst.
[00:13:33] If you got a kid, they want to see it.
[00:13:36] Go with them.
[00:13:37] It's fine.
[00:13:38] You'll forget every song.
[00:13:40] You'll forget everything, but your kid will probably love it.
[00:13:42] Yeah.
[00:13:43] And you're not going to be like yanking out your hair going, this is so awful.
[00:13:47] It's, it's fine.
[00:13:48] And, and the rocks, the rocks, the rock, as you say, and Hey, Hey is hilarious.
[00:13:53] And the pig is funny.
[00:13:56] So, man, pig and chicken or as a rock called them bacon and eggs.
[00:14:01] Yeah.
[00:14:03] Can I get a Chi who is the name of the song.
[00:14:07] Oh, okay.
[00:14:09] Yeah.
[00:14:10] I would love to get a Chi who.
[00:14:13] That is a, um, a thing I would like to unpack a little bit is just what in their right mind
[00:14:19] did they think that Dwayne, the rock Johnson could actually sing?
[00:14:23] Probably.
[00:14:24] You probably can't.
[00:14:25] Cause I think in the, I think in the first one there is a song he sings, but I'm a hundred
[00:14:29] percent guaranteed.
[00:14:30] That's not him singing.
[00:14:31] He's fine.
[00:14:31] There's at least two or three songs in this one.
[00:14:33] Apparently.
[00:14:34] They're not good.
[00:14:36] They're definitely not good.
[00:14:37] Whatever.
[00:14:37] Probably holds his own.
[00:14:38] All right.
[00:14:39] The G.
[00:14:40] The G.
[00:14:41] Okay.
[00:14:42] So you want to know about the G-mer?
[00:14:44] Sure.
[00:14:45] Okay.
[00:14:45] It's grandma.
[00:14:46] It's so if Canada took, I care a lot.
[00:14:51] Okay.
[00:14:52] I like that movie.
[00:14:53] John Wick's mom.
[00:14:54] Okay.
[00:14:55] And then made a movie.
[00:14:56] Oh, you have the G.
[00:14:58] Okay.
[00:14:58] Then we got evil guardianship criminals who decided to fuck with the wrong G.
[00:15:06] This has a real Canadian film drama feel to it.
[00:15:11] Uh, even though it takes place in the U S but our lead played by the awesome Dale Dickey
[00:15:17] does an awesome job of carrying around resting potty mouth bitch face for an entire movie where she has a husband.
[00:15:28] She's not very wifely too.
[00:15:29] And a daughter she is estranged from, but her saving grace is she has a granddaughter that cares for her and their bond is super strong.
[00:15:42] The story has a ton of holes and there are some issues with the lighting and some of the edits.
[00:15:49] But you know, my love of ladies who kick ass and punch dicks.
[00:15:54] We haven't seen a lot of that lately.
[00:15:56] Well, when they have grannies who do that along with grannies who have promiscuous sex in the old folks home.
[00:16:09] I could not be happier.
[00:16:11] There was some funny bits both to laugh at and laugh with.
[00:16:16] And although I expected it to get more action as it went on, um, it did drive enough suspense that I wasn't bored.
[00:16:25] I actually really liked this film.
[00:16:27] There's, there's a lot of holes and a lot of problems with it, but I really enjoyed it.
[00:16:31] I thought she was so good.
[00:16:34] Like Dale Dickey in this is just so brilliant.
[00:16:36] And she just carries this whole movie on her shoulders.
[00:16:40] There's a man.
[00:16:41] I liked it.
[00:16:42] Yeah.
[00:16:43] Dale Dickey is so good in this.
[00:16:47] And yeah, I mean, anytime you get, you get, you know, geriatric sex, I mean, that moves the movie up three, four notches.
[00:16:54] Oh yeah.
[00:16:55] It almost made it Mondo.
[00:16:56] Yeah.
[00:16:56] It had another sex scene, especially when, you know, Joseph is played by rock La fortune, which is one of the greatest actor names ever.
[00:17:05] Oh, totally.
[00:17:06] But, uh, yeah, the, the, the scene with the G and Joseph making sweet, sweet love that was worth the price of admission alone.
[00:17:15] Totally.
[00:17:16] Especially he took her places.
[00:17:17] I don't think her husband did for a long time.
[00:17:19] Indeed.
[00:17:20] Indeed.
[00:17:21] So, yeah, I mean, it was, there were this movie, the whole way I enjoyed through the whole thing.
[00:17:27] And as you say, yeah, there's some little holes here and there.
[00:17:30] And, but it, it looked good.
[00:17:33] It was well acted.
[00:17:35] Dale Dickey was amazing.
[00:17:37] Like she was so, so good in this.
[00:17:40] And we got a private viewing.
[00:17:42] Yeah.
[00:17:42] And we got a private viewing of it.
[00:17:44] I really enjoyed it.
[00:17:46] I didn't think it was fantastic.
[00:17:48] There were too many holes to, to, to say that, but it, it was a high math for me.
[00:17:52] I really, really enjoyed it.
[00:17:54] If there was a, if they would have just tweaked a couple little things with it, I could have got to a Mondo, but it was, and, but yeah, I, you just, it's worth watching just to watch the performance of Dale Dickey.
[00:18:05] Quite honestly, she is so good in this.
[00:18:07] Yeah.
[00:18:08] Um, but yeah, it was, it was mad.
[00:18:10] Yeah.
[00:18:10] That's double mammer.
[00:18:12] And the G was great.
[00:18:16] The G was as much.
[00:18:18] You were right.
[00:18:20] Yep.
[00:18:20] All right.
[00:18:21] So Maria.
[00:18:25] Okay.
[00:18:27] Biopics.
[00:18:27] Hmm.
[00:18:28] Really are a bit of a funny beast.
[00:18:30] Hmm.
[00:18:31] They are often either a love letter to the subject or telling their story.
[00:18:36] Sometimes it's their whole story.
[00:18:39] And sometimes it's a small piece of their story.
[00:18:42] Maria Callis was an interesting person from what we learn in this biopic.
[00:18:47] Um, in the last parts of her life, as she, as sorry, as her body is falling apart, we are given glimpses of who she once was the trauma from which her talent was created.
[00:19:01] And we are given glimpses, um, just into her whole, her whole world.
[00:19:08] Um, at the same time, we saw that although she seemed to like to torture her two servants, Maid and Butler played by Alba Rockwasher and Pierre Francesco.
[00:19:23] Francesco.
[00:19:24] Francesco.
[00:19:26] Favino.
[00:19:27] Mm hmm.
[00:19:28] That she had a deep love for them.
[00:19:30] Absolutely.
[00:19:31] And they had this relationship where they were her everything at the last part of her life.
[00:19:36] The humor in this is subtle at times and playful, particularly in regards to her, her interactions with her servants.
[00:19:43] That how many times he moved that fucking piano.
[00:19:46] I just thought.
[00:19:47] So good.
[00:19:48] Laugh my ass off.
[00:19:49] We got snippets of her life mixed with her meandering around Paris in and out of reality in what can only be explained as beautifully shot.
[00:19:59] The cinematography is fantastic.
[00:20:00] And the style of shooting goes from black and white to sepia to other forms of gray or greatness.
[00:20:07] I can't even explain it.
[00:20:08] And often not very full dynamic color, but still it's Paris and it's a great city to see, even if not in bright and robust, robust color.
[00:20:20] But then again, that's not how I've seen Paris when I've been there.
[00:20:24] It's, it's not, it's kind of a brown city other than you just see a little bit in the, in the trees and stuff that you get.
[00:20:31] So Angelina was, it was by far the best performance I've ever seen her in.
[00:20:37] However, I really didn't buy that she was singing all the way through this.
[00:20:42] Who cares?
[00:20:42] And it was kind of annoying to me.
[00:20:44] I kind of wish they hadn't tried.
[00:20:46] Who cares?
[00:20:46] No, okay.
[00:20:47] No, making a point here because you didn't need to show her sing so much.
[00:20:51] And I'm coming to a reason why I really did like a lot about this production of this film, but I found it needed to be shorter.
[00:20:59] And if they would have taken out a lot of her, they would have taken out a lot of her trying to lip sync poorly.
[00:21:05] I, it could have made it.
[00:21:07] If I couldn't get it to a Mondo, this was a high math for me.
[00:21:10] It was, if this was edited to a tight hour and a half, this definitely would have made it to a Mondo for me because the style and feel was definitely fantastic.
[00:21:19] Probably one of the best stylistic biopics I've ever seen.
[00:21:23] Um, I got some unpacking, but like, I could not get past the fact they had way too much singing of her just lip syncing, which fucking totally annoyed me.
[00:21:32] On top of that, they could have just taken those scenes out, showed her from back.
[00:21:35] Who cares?
[00:21:36] Don't make it look like she's.
[00:21:40] No, it was, it took me out of the movie.
[00:21:43] No, didn't take me out at all.
[00:21:45] Hey, trivia question.
[00:21:46] Yeah.
[00:21:46] Pablo Lorraine director.
[00:21:48] Do you know what he directed?
[00:21:50] No.
[00:21:51] Movie that you really want me to see.
[00:21:53] Oh, did he?
[00:21:54] Yes, he did.
[00:21:55] Oh, I should have looked at that before.
[00:21:57] Yeah.
[00:21:58] Well, now you're going to want to go see El Conde.
[00:22:00] Now I really do.
[00:22:01] I really do now.
[00:22:03] Um, because I thought this was brilliant from start to finish.
[00:22:08] All of the reasons that you, that you said that lip syncing didn't bother me.
[00:22:12] Well, you're dumb.
[00:22:13] The performances were amazing.
[00:22:15] Pure Francesco Favino as her butler caretaker, what, you know, he kind of did everything her friend or confidant.
[00:22:22] He is so good.
[00:22:24] The way that she abuses them, but, but you know, there's this underlying love that's, that's there.
[00:22:30] Yeah.
[00:22:31] So good.
[00:22:31] Um, the, uh, what was her name?
[00:22:35] Uh, the, the housekeeper, uh, Alba.
[00:22:38] Alba Rockwater.
[00:22:39] Yeah.
[00:22:40] She, she was amazing too.
[00:22:42] Um, I love the pace of this film.
[00:22:44] I loved the, as you say, the, the way that we went from the black and white to the color and the, the way that the, the colors were saturated.
[00:22:52] I just, it was a beautiful film for me to look at.
[00:22:55] Like I really enjoyed the look of this film.
[00:22:58] I enjoyed the, the transitions.
[00:23:00] Yep.
[00:23:01] Um, and Angelina Jolie, she has now done something that she can look back on her career.
[00:23:08] And say, I had one of the best performances that an actor can have.
[00:23:15] She is amazing in this.
[00:23:17] Yep.
[00:23:18] I was so impressed with her and I don't know that I've ever been impressed with her.
[00:23:25] She's always been fine.
[00:23:26] She's never made a movie worse by being in it, but this she was amazing.
[00:23:32] Yeah.
[00:23:32] I totally agree.
[00:23:33] Um, just to, this was such a good movie.
[00:23:36] This was absolutely mondo for me.
[00:23:39] I, this is one of the better bio picks that I've seen in years.
[00:23:42] Yeah.
[00:23:43] I think it's one of the best.
[00:23:45] I, I, I could not get past the length of this.
[00:23:48] It was over two hours.
[00:23:49] Oh, it needed to be longer.
[00:23:50] It didn't mean not.
[00:23:50] It did not need to be two hours and it didn't need her crappy lip syncing.
[00:23:54] It just really did.
[00:23:55] That crappy lip syncing was fine.
[00:23:58] It was not like, you know, this is the same person.
[00:24:01] This is the same person that will pick apart a bio pick.
[00:24:04] Yeah.
[00:24:05] They have someone performing and he's like, I couldn't get past the fact.
[00:24:08] Yes.
[00:24:09] You know, it didn't sound live enough.
[00:24:12] And then he's going to.
[00:24:13] That, but that was, what was that movie?
[00:24:15] That was awful.
[00:24:16] That was one lovely one.
[00:24:18] Yeah.
[00:24:18] One love.
[00:24:19] I think it was the Bob Marley.
[00:24:22] Oh, it's one of the Marley's.
[00:24:24] Yeah.
[00:24:24] So he can get irritated because of that, but he couldn't get past the fact that
[00:24:29] Well, that was ridiculous.
[00:24:30] Everything that she sang was canned and her lip syncing was awful.
[00:24:34] It was not, it was not fine in any way, shape or form.
[00:24:38] Yes.
[00:24:41] All right.
[00:24:42] Is that it?
[00:24:43] I think so.
[00:24:44] Did I have anything else to unpack?
[00:24:45] No unpacking.
[00:24:46] Oh yeah.
[00:24:47] Um, I don't, I don't feel like there was some characters in there.
[00:24:51] Like, I don't know why they threw in JFK also that didn't even, it's like, I think they
[00:24:56] were just putting things in there to make her go.
[00:24:58] Oh, she was famous cause she knew these people and that shows her attitude.
[00:25:03] But some of that stuff, I, I just couldn't, I was bored by an hour and say 40 minutes.
[00:25:11] I wasn't bored for one millisecond of this movie.
[00:25:15] Cause there was some more.
[00:25:16] This movie just, this movie just, I mean, don't get me wrong.
[00:25:20] It's a, it's a slow moving movie, but it's because you can just sit there and get the,
[00:25:25] let that, let the beautiful shots just wash over you.
[00:25:29] Yeah.
[00:25:29] That was cool.
[00:25:29] And watch the amazing performances.
[00:25:32] And imagine if it was an hour and 30 minutes, how great it would have been.
[00:25:35] See, every single scene was so good.
[00:25:38] It was so well shot.
[00:25:39] Yeah.
[00:25:39] Everything that she, oh man.
[00:25:41] It's just 20 minutes to half an hour too long.
[00:25:43] Oh, I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:25:45] Oh yeah.
[00:25:46] And then the lip sync.
[00:25:47] Remember the lip syncing?
[00:25:48] I do.
[00:25:48] I do.
[00:25:49] Lip syncing.
[00:25:49] It was, don't get me wrong.
[00:25:50] Lip syncing wasn't great, but who cares?
[00:25:52] It was fine.
[00:25:54] How do you just randomly pick things out of your ass?
[00:25:57] Yeah.
[00:25:57] Sometimes, sometimes stuff annoys me and sometimes it doesn't.
[00:26:02] Most of the time you annoy me, but sometimes you don't.
[00:26:05] Totally random every time.
[00:26:07] Yeah.
[00:26:07] It's kind of seems a little random.
[00:26:09] It's very random.
[00:26:11] It's almost like based on how, how he feels that day.
[00:26:14] How he feels that day or that moment.
[00:26:16] Yeah.
[00:26:17] Nice.
[00:26:18] I know not of what you speak.
[00:26:19] Apparently not.
[00:26:20] Well, I got some annoying crap for you.
[00:26:22] All right.
[00:26:23] We love annoying crap.
[00:26:24] Oh wait, is this what's coming up next?
[00:26:26] It is.
[00:26:27] I love the annoying crap.
[00:26:31] Last week I came across a movie starring my favorite actor, Ewan McGregor.
[00:26:37] What?
[00:26:37] I thought it was John Candy.
[00:26:38] That I hadn't seen.
[00:26:39] He's my, one of my favorite movie stars.
[00:26:41] Oh.
[00:26:41] I'm talking about actors.
[00:26:43] Oh.
[00:26:44] As much as I love John Candy, he wasn't really an actor.
[00:26:47] He was a comedian.
[00:26:48] He was an entertainer.
[00:26:49] I don't know.
[00:26:49] Ah, gotcha.
[00:26:50] Anyway, I hadn't seen this movie.
[00:26:52] I heard about it.
[00:26:53] Never saw it.
[00:26:53] Is it with Down With Love?
[00:26:54] Before I tell you the, I saw that one.
[00:26:57] Before I tell you the name of this movie, it also features Antonio Banderas.
[00:27:02] What?
[00:27:02] And Michael Fassbender.
[00:27:04] What?
[00:27:04] And Channing Tatum.
[00:27:06] The Tatums?
[00:27:06] And Bill Paxton.
[00:27:08] Oh.
[00:27:08] And Michael Douglas.
[00:27:10] Oh.
[00:27:10] It was directed by Steven Soderbergh.
[00:27:14] Hmm.
[00:27:14] Whose resume also includes Traffic.
[00:27:17] That's a hit or miss.
[00:27:18] That's a hit or miss.
[00:27:18] Aaron Brockovich.
[00:27:19] That can be really missed.
[00:27:19] Yeah.
[00:27:20] The Ocean's Eleven series.
[00:27:21] The worst movie.
[00:27:22] Oh yeah.
[00:27:22] And unfortunately, the whole Magic Mike series.
[00:27:25] He did all of them.
[00:27:26] Hmm.
[00:27:27] But the big deal with this film was one, Gina Carano.
[00:27:31] A former MMA fighter with a seven in one record who went on to take on Deadpool and the Mandalorian.
[00:27:39] The movie is of course, Haywire.
[00:27:43] Oh.
[00:27:43] Which is also coincidentally the name of one of my favorite 80s bands from Prince Edward Island.
[00:27:50] Oh God, really?
[00:27:50] I freaking love that band.
[00:27:53] Oh man.
[00:27:54] Now, this film has a lot of things that my buddy Jim would like.
[00:27:59] Oh.
[00:28:00] Of course.
[00:28:00] The Tatum.
[00:28:01] Yep.
[00:28:02] Some really good chicks kicking ass and punching dicks.
[00:28:05] Nice.
[00:28:05] Literally, she punches their dicks a lot.
[00:28:08] Yes, I love that one that punch dicks.
[00:28:10] And even some exotic locales.
[00:28:12] What it also has is a complicated and confusing plot that isn't really explained until a big drawn out scene at the end.
[00:28:20] Where the bad guy tells her the who, what, where, when and why of her getting screwed over in the first place.
[00:28:26] I thought it was well done.
[00:28:27] I enjoyed that.
[00:28:28] By then I didn't really care.
[00:28:30] I did.
[00:28:30] The story wasn't original by any means.
[00:28:33] Much as I love Ewan McGregor, it's not his best work.
[00:28:36] He's been a bad guy before.
[00:28:38] Spoiler alert.
[00:28:39] But he's done it so much better.
[00:28:41] Hmm.
[00:28:42] Bill Paxton is barely in it, playing her dad.
[00:28:45] Hmm.
[00:28:46] Banderas and Douglas were okay, but again, it felt a bit like they phoned it in.
[00:28:50] Hmm.
[00:28:51] They often do.
[00:28:52] Tatum was Tatum.
[00:28:54] Being all sexy and charming and nice.
[00:28:57] Sleeping with the main character before deciding to really screw her over.
[00:29:01] The Fassbender, again, merely a blip in this story.
[00:29:05] It really felt like Soderbergh called up all his famous actor friends to be in this movie just to give Karana a chance to kick their asses.
[00:29:15] Or their stuntmen anyway.
[00:29:18] I love Gina Carana.
[00:29:19] I love watching her fight scenes.
[00:29:22] But the woman just can't act.
[00:29:25] Eh, she's awesome.
[00:29:25] She certainly can't carry a movie with a supporting cast this good.
[00:29:29] Yeah.
[00:29:29] So I can't get this film to a mondo.
[00:29:32] But it's not really a rage either.
[00:29:34] I'm glad I saw it.
[00:29:36] Yeah.
[00:29:36] But I don't need to watch it ever again either.
[00:29:39] It was good.
[00:29:40] It was a meh.
[00:29:42] I agree.
[00:29:42] I'd say it was a meh.
[00:29:43] That's what I watched.
[00:29:44] It was a meh.
[00:29:44] That's a three banger.
[00:29:46] Three banger.
[00:29:47] Oh, hey.
[00:29:48] Crank it up.
[00:29:49] Crank it.
[00:29:49] Don't want to crank that up.
[00:29:50] I want to do something else.
[00:29:51] Yeah, try that.
[00:29:52] Temperature rising.
[00:29:55] Vision blurring.
[00:29:58] Rage taking over.
[00:30:29] Okay.
[00:30:30] My rage this week is all about Moana.
[00:30:38] Of course, as you said, Maria had like 300 million people go to this over the weekend.
[00:30:44] Yeah.
[00:30:44] And we had a private screening of the G.
[00:30:47] Yeah.
[00:30:47] And in my opinion, even though they're both meh, the G was 20 times better.
[00:30:54] We should have had a lot more.
[00:30:55] Yeah.
[00:30:55] Moana was probably in like seven out of 10 screens.
[00:30:58] Yeah, probably.
[00:31:00] But then on top of that, I just can't understand why.
[00:31:06] Well, I mean, I don't understand Disney.
[00:31:10] I just don't understand the model of just like this.
[00:31:13] The movie is really just like a TV show.
[00:31:16] It's it really is.
[00:31:17] They they they don't have to put any thought into any of these things.
[00:31:21] They just throw in some lovable characters, throw in people that remember from before.
[00:31:25] And then let's just crank out another sequel.
[00:31:30] It's just but what's more most annoying about it is that they didn't give you any backstory to it.
[00:31:36] So for someone like myself, let's say it was a five year old who'd never seen Moana.
[00:31:41] First one.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:42] They come into this.
[00:31:42] They're not even gonna have a clue what's going on.
[00:31:44] Well, it's a lot what Disney does with Marvel and Star Wars.
[00:31:47] They have all these other TV series, which you can only watch on their streaming service.
[00:31:53] And if you don't watch those, you can't understand what the hell's going on because they throw a bunch of Easter egg crap into the seat.
[00:31:59] The next theatrical one.
[00:32:01] They don't care.
[00:32:01] So speaking of not knowing what the hell's going on.
[00:32:04] So is your rage that Moana was like sold out and the G only had two attendees or is your rage that there's no backstory?
[00:32:13] That's another one.
[00:32:14] Okay.
[00:32:15] It's it's it's it's your rage, not your your rages.
[00:32:19] I can have rages.
[00:32:21] You sometimes can't even find one rage.
[00:32:23] I've got lots of rage.
[00:32:25] I don't want to talk about the other rage trying to teach you how to use zoom.
[00:32:30] That was I know how to use.
[00:32:32] That's my third rage is Bryce.
[00:32:35] Trying to watch him how to use.
[00:32:37] Now we've got three rages.
[00:32:39] Yeah.
[00:32:39] The ultimate one.
[00:32:40] Just in case you don't have any.
[00:32:41] Trying to get Bryce to figure out how to use.
[00:32:44] Technology.
[00:32:45] Yeah.
[00:32:46] What do you mean it's down?
[00:32:48] What do you mean it's downloading something?
[00:32:50] Why can't I press buttons?
[00:32:51] They were they were throwing stuff around here.
[00:32:53] I tell you.
[00:32:54] I wasn't throwing anything.
[00:32:55] I was ready to throw it.
[00:32:56] Throwing a hissy fish.
[00:32:57] You were throwing throwing something at Jim.
[00:32:59] You were throwing a hissy fish.
[00:33:00] I wasn't throwing a hissy fish.
[00:33:01] It's my fault that that zoom did.
[00:33:04] No.
[00:33:04] Well, you're sitting here.
[00:33:05] Yeah.
[00:33:22] All right.
[00:33:23] So my rage this week, I walk into landmark cinemas and they've got these new self-serve
[00:33:27] touchscreen kiosk things going.
[00:33:30] So I'm like, oh, yeah, well, let's try because, you know, we're at we're at the showing of
[00:33:34] Moana and the lineups like ridiculous.
[00:33:36] So maybe this will save some time.
[00:33:38] Go punch in the order.
[00:33:40] Get to the end.
[00:33:40] It's like I can't scan my card.
[00:33:42] What's going on?
[00:33:43] Okay, fine.
[00:33:44] I start over this time.
[00:33:46] I scan my card first.
[00:33:48] It says welcome Bryce.
[00:33:49] I go through the whole thing and price comes up at the end.
[00:33:53] I don't get my discount.
[00:33:54] Why did I scan my card?
[00:33:56] Okay.
[00:33:56] Well, so that's fine.
[00:33:57] So then I'm like, okay, whatever.
[00:33:59] Then we just stand there waiting for our order.
[00:34:01] Get my freaking order.
[00:34:03] I got to go through this stupid touchscreen thing.
[00:34:05] So I can't get it without ice, which I do, which I want to begin with, but it's like,
[00:34:08] whatever, that's fine.
[00:34:09] I won't get it with what I know.
[00:34:10] No, no big deal.
[00:34:11] So I get my popcorn.
[00:34:13] I look at it.
[00:34:14] I'm like, that looks kind of damp.
[00:34:15] I put my finger in it.
[00:34:16] I smell it.
[00:34:17] They put butter on my popcorn.
[00:34:19] I didn't ask for butter on my popcorn.
[00:34:21] So I have to bring my popcorn back to them.
[00:34:22] I say, give me a popcorn without butter.
[00:34:24] I didn't ask for butter.
[00:34:25] So you can have it for free.
[00:34:27] I don't want it for free.
[00:34:28] I don't eat butter.
[00:34:29] Give me a bloody popcorn.
[00:34:30] Dry popcorn, please.
[00:34:32] What is happening right now?
[00:34:32] So I was like, basically my rage truly is along with all that other crap that happened
[00:34:39] is the fact that I've got a landmark, what is it even called?
[00:34:44] Landmark extras?
[00:34:45] Extras, sure.
[00:34:45] Landmark extras card that I'm supposed to get 20% off of my, cost me $24 when it should
[00:34:51] have cost me $20.
[00:34:53] Should have got 20% off.
[00:34:54] So you actually bought your stuff on the touch button and it didn't give you any of your
[00:34:58] discount also.
[00:34:59] On the touch screen.
[00:35:01] Yeah.
[00:35:01] And you, it, I went through the whole thing.
[00:35:03] The total, the total came up and I'm like, Oh, that's crap.
[00:35:06] I can't scan my card.
[00:35:07] And I'm like, Oh, you can scan your card right there.
[00:35:09] So then I deleted the whole thing and started over, scanned my card.
[00:35:13] It said, okay, welcome Bryce.
[00:35:15] So it knows I'm a member now and still didn't give me a discount.
[00:35:19] You know what?
[00:35:20] I bet you it's one of those secret things.
[00:35:23] Every time I tried to use those, it doesn't work.
[00:35:26] It just, it just, it's buffering.
[00:35:28] Well, no, it's not one of those Murray.
[00:35:30] It's one of the big standup things.
[00:35:32] So you can order concessions, just concessions.
[00:35:35] Oh, just concessions.
[00:35:35] Oh, I thought it was your money ticket.
[00:35:36] No.
[00:35:37] What do they call it?
[00:35:38] They had a name for that.
[00:35:39] I don't know.
[00:35:40] They got them at all the stupid, when we walked into that, I've never,
[00:35:43] I haven't been in a McDonald's for like years and years and years,
[00:35:46] except for with you walk in and you're sitting there punching the stupid screen.
[00:35:50] Nice.
[00:35:50] It's one of those, but now it's a landmark.
[00:35:53] You know what I think it is?
[00:35:54] I think this is my guess as to why, whether it's true or not.
[00:35:58] I don't know, but they don't want you to do any of that stuff.
[00:36:02] They just want you to go on the app or online and buy your, buy your tickets.
[00:36:06] What's it called?
[00:36:07] Adam?
[00:36:08] Yeah, Adam.
[00:36:09] That's the thing.
[00:36:10] I don't even know if that app, line up on the side.
[00:36:13] I think if you got a scene card or scene card, line up on the extras card,
[00:36:17] you probably have to go through their website.
[00:36:19] Yeah.
[00:36:20] I know you have to buy tickets on their fricking thing.
[00:36:22] Cause you can't, I tried to use my, I don't have a big one as you guys,
[00:36:25] but suppose, so supposed to get $10 movies and the people at the front counter don't
[00:36:30] know how to do that.
[00:36:32] So the only time I can use it is when I have freebies.
[00:36:34] Yeah.
[00:36:35] I think, I think I really think they it's because they want you to use it.
[00:36:39] And they're also cashless.
[00:36:40] Cause I never have any problems.
[00:36:41] Although I haven't tried.
[00:36:43] Well, yeah.
[00:36:45] Cause when you go up to the thing, they give it to you.
[00:36:47] So that's whatever they didn't program it.
[00:36:49] Right.
[00:36:49] Yeah.
[00:36:50] No, when you go up to the concession itself, they scan your card.
[00:36:52] You can scan it and it says, yeah, welcome.
[00:36:55] And then you put in your order.
[00:36:56] It should be 20% off and it's not.
[00:36:57] No, it works when I go up to the counter.
[00:36:59] Well, yes, I understand that, but that's not what I'm not raging about that.
[00:37:03] I'm not raging about these stupid kiosks that don't do it.
[00:37:07] So next time, yes, I will be going up to the counter.
[00:37:09] I won't be using them anymore.
[00:37:10] The only reason I used it though, is cause the lineup was nine miles long.
[00:37:13] Cause it was for Moana.
[00:37:14] Okay.
[00:37:15] But then it didn't matter anyways.
[00:37:16] Cause by what's like 75th in line for the fricking order.
[00:37:19] I sat there and watch my numbers stay in the same place for like 10 minutes.
[00:37:23] Then slowly it creeped up.
[00:37:25] It's like, okay.
[00:37:26] Oh boy.
[00:37:27] I finally get my order.
[00:37:28] That's no, it was a whole thing.
[00:37:31] So when he was ready to see Moana, he was already pissed off.
[00:37:33] So was that, was that Shaughnessy or?
[00:37:36] No, it's the market.
[00:37:38] Market mall.
[00:37:39] That's, that's the worst one.
[00:37:40] That's the worst one.
[00:37:40] Yeah.
[00:37:41] So Mark, plus they don't have the freestyle soda.
[00:37:43] So basically they pour it for you.
[00:37:45] Yes, they do.
[00:37:46] They have the freestyle sodas now too?
[00:37:48] No, they don't.
[00:37:49] Oh no.
[00:37:49] I don't go there unless I have to.
[00:37:50] I don't go there unless I have to.
[00:37:52] Apparently don't go to market mall.
[00:37:54] Yeah.
[00:37:54] I'm still going to go there.
[00:37:55] It's like so close.
[00:37:56] I can.
[00:37:56] It's close to you.
[00:37:57] Yeah.
[00:38:00] I'm sure you have.
[00:38:02] I'm sure you've biked a few times too.
[00:38:04] Once.
[00:38:05] Oh, this was a bust.
[00:38:19] Yeah.
[00:38:20] Well, so sorry, but it wasn't a bust.
[00:38:24] Don't apologize.
[00:38:25] I give up.
[00:38:26] No, don't apologize because I wasn't going to watch this movie.
[00:38:29] And then I had to, and I really enjoyed the movie.
[00:38:32] Yeah.
[00:38:33] So before we get to the movie, before we get to the movie, just reminding our listeners
[00:38:37] to go to our website, filmrageyyc.com, go to our page called the lists.
[00:38:44] And in there we have five lists.
[00:38:46] We have the mesmerizing.
[00:38:47] We have the repulsive.
[00:38:49] We have the doubted and we have the undoubted.
[00:38:51] And then we have one that people used to be mesmerizing and they no longer are.
[00:38:56] So we've been trying to get two mesmerizing actors, if they're in a movie together, to mesmerize
[00:39:04] off.
[00:39:05] It sounds a little dirty, doesn't it?
[00:39:07] It's like, no, let's go mesmerize off in the corner.
[00:39:11] No, that's, that doesn't sound dirty.
[00:39:13] You're just being silly.
[00:39:14] I think it sounds a little dirty.
[00:39:17] No, it doesn't.
[00:39:18] Well, anyway.
[00:39:19] So as Bryce has already kind of hinted with this movie, the murder got us to watch lock
[00:39:24] from 2013.
[00:39:25] Yes.
[00:39:26] Which I also very much enjoyed this movie.
[00:39:29] It was so good because the only person that's in this movie is Tom Hardy.
[00:39:34] That's it.
[00:39:35] That's it.
[00:39:36] You get Tom Hardy all the time.
[00:39:38] All the time.
[00:39:39] You get Tom Hardy talking to himself.
[00:39:41] You get Tom Hardy talk.
[00:39:43] You get Tom Hardy talking to other people, but you just hear their voice because he's
[00:39:46] literally talking to him on the phone.
[00:39:49] So yeah, Olivia Colman's voice is in this movie.
[00:39:52] Yes.
[00:39:53] Multiple times.
[00:39:54] Yeah.
[00:39:54] Multiple times as she's giving birth to his baby.
[00:39:57] Yes.
[00:39:58] Baby.
[00:39:58] This movie was so good.
[00:40:00] This movie was so, so good.
[00:40:01] I can't believe that I haven't seen it.
[00:40:03] Yeah.
[00:40:03] And I am so glad that I saw this.
[00:40:07] So thank you, Murray, even though it was a total bust as a mesmerized off.
[00:40:10] Like I said, I give up.
[00:40:12] This was a really good movie.
[00:40:13] Why are you giving up?
[00:40:14] You're getting us to still watch movies that we haven't seen.
[00:40:17] And in this case, it was awesome.
[00:40:18] Yeah.
[00:40:19] This would have been a much better.
[00:40:19] They're literally right beside each other in the listing.
[00:40:21] Yeah.
[00:40:22] Right beside each other.
[00:40:23] It doesn't say the voice of.
[00:40:24] It's just an actual actor.
[00:40:26] Yeah.
[00:40:26] So I assume they were.
[00:40:28] They shared this one scene together.
[00:40:29] Murray, Murray.
[00:40:29] This isn't a judgment.
[00:40:31] We're thanking you, dude.
[00:40:31] Like the last three times I've.
[00:40:33] I give up.
[00:40:34] Hey.
[00:40:34] Hey.
[00:40:35] Hey.
[00:40:35] It's all good.
[00:40:36] I'm done.
[00:40:37] No, you're not done.
[00:40:38] No, you know what?
[00:40:39] You don't do enough already as it is.
[00:40:41] So you're kind of done.
[00:40:41] Yeah, you're not doing less.
[00:40:42] I'm done.
[00:40:43] I'm done.
[00:40:44] You're not doing less than you are.
[00:40:45] That's it.
[00:40:46] I'm done.
[00:40:47] I'm done.
[00:40:52] I try and I try and every time I strike out apparently.
[00:40:55] You, I don't know why you're getting upset about it because we were both happy.
[00:40:58] Yeah.
[00:40:59] We were very happy that you got us to watch.
[00:41:00] That wasn't the point.
[00:41:01] Yeah.
[00:41:02] Well, you know what?
[00:41:03] Uh, maybe Tom Hardy's just going to have to stay mesmerizing forever.
[00:41:06] Well, apparently because every movie I have, man, he's only, he doesn't act with anybody
[00:41:10] else in it.
[00:41:10] Well, no, no.
[00:41:11] The last movie we got when he wasn't even in apparently.
[00:41:14] No, no.
[00:41:14] He was in it, but he was just a mask.
[00:41:16] How do I know that?
[00:41:18] You don't.
[00:41:19] I didn't remember.
[00:41:19] It's like, it was like opposite.
[00:41:21] Like in that one, he was basically just a voice.
[00:41:23] And in this one, he was the whole movie.
[00:41:26] So the good thing is, is that we get more Tom Hardy.
[00:41:30] Yes.
[00:41:30] There's never nothing wrong with more Tom Hardy.
[00:41:32] That's right.
[00:41:34] So just for everybody's knowledge, we have a pretty jam packed December with all the
[00:41:40] movies coming out.
[00:41:42] Plus we got some special episodes coming out.
[00:41:44] We're going to be putting the lists on hold until the new year.
[00:41:49] So Murray, I'll have lots of time to find another Tom Hardy film for us.
[00:41:52] Or maybe an Olivia Colman film.
[00:41:54] Well, the problem is that nobody else on our list acts with him in any other movie.
[00:41:59] Hey, Murr.
[00:41:59] Murr.
[00:41:59] So I'm done.
[00:42:00] I'm out.
[00:42:01] Don't be done.
[00:42:02] We appreciate you, Murr.
[00:42:04] Yeah.
[00:42:05] You're done with Tom Hardy is what you're saying.
[00:42:07] Apparently.
[00:42:07] Yeah.
[00:42:08] That's fine.
[00:42:09] But we added some other people on there.
[00:42:14] So we're good.
[00:42:14] Yeah.
[00:42:23] Last week on rage or dare, Bryce did what he does best.
[00:42:28] Wine like a little bee.
[00:42:30] But alas, he could not escape from the rage.
[00:42:33] He finally chose from Jim's bag of evil James Marston films where he got the 2012 film
[00:42:40] Bachelorette.
[00:42:40] This week, it will be Jim's turn to rage or dare.
[00:42:44] If Bryce actually did the one thing he's responsible for making Jim rage, Jim should be able to pick
[00:42:50] from his bag of evil rom coms and musicals.
[00:42:53] But my guess is he will have to count on his two soldiers in the fight for rage, our Captain Fantastic Merman, and of course, me, your God of Rage, Admiral Reliable, or in some circles, Captain Crunch.
[00:43:06] And no, you'll never know why.
[00:43:08] Alright, let's see if our favorite cutie pie James Martin can keep up his recent meh streak.
[00:43:13] And maybe we can take him off the doubted list.
[00:43:16] Or if, as expected, gorgeous as he is, his manager probably yet again said yes to the first script that will pay him when he picked Bachelorette.
[00:43:26] Come on, Bryce.
[00:43:30] Yeah.
[00:43:31] Um, I'm disappointed in you, Jim, because is this a great movie?
[00:43:37] No, but this is not something that should be dared to watch.
[00:43:41] This isn't so awful that it's unwatchable.
[00:43:44] It had some likable characters in it.
[00:43:47] Isla Fisher as Katie was delightful.
[00:43:49] Kyle Bornheimer as Joe.
[00:43:52] He was a lovable loser.
[00:43:53] Adam Scott as Clyde is, Adam Scott's always good in everything he does.
[00:43:58] He's pretty good.
[00:43:58] Lizzie Kaplan, she was fine in this.
[00:44:01] Kirsten Dunst was annoying.
[00:44:02] James Marsden was about as annoying as he's ever been.
[00:44:06] I mean, he's, I'm usually, I'm, he's adorable.
[00:44:08] I love James Marsden.
[00:44:09] Even when he's a bad movie, I'm like, you're so adorable.
[00:44:11] But in this movie, he was not, he was not adorable.
[00:44:14] I was just kind of annoyed by him, but this still wasn't an awful movie.
[00:44:19] It's not good, but it's not awful.
[00:44:22] It's, it's one of those movies where if you went to it, you're going to laugh a few times.
[00:44:27] After it's done, you're going to do what I did.
[00:44:30] You're going to forget about it, but you're not going to rage.
[00:44:34] It was meh.
[00:44:36] Oh, well, okay.
[00:44:37] So that, that's a really good question.
[00:44:39] We got to actually go back and look at our James Marsden films.
[00:44:42] Hmm.
[00:44:43] Cause maybe James Marsden is no longer doubted.
[00:44:47] I think he's given two mehs.
[00:44:49] If they were back to back and there was within his eight films, he could be removed from the doubted list.
[00:44:56] Is that the thing?
[00:44:56] So over, over the holidays, Bryce is going to review that and get back to us when he refills my bag.
[00:45:02] I think this was back far enough that there's no way this counted towards it anyways.
[00:45:06] That'll be a, that'll be homework for you over the holidays when you're filling your rage bag.
[00:45:12] He's done like 47, seven, seven, seven, the hedgehog movies.
[00:45:16] So no, there's no way that this was 2013.
[00:45:19] I think this was done in, it was going to be like 8,000 movies back, which by the way, he, he did have a, he did have lots of mehs then because Anchorman 2 was man.
[00:45:30] Lee Daniels, the butler was man.
[00:45:32] Two guns was man.
[00:45:33] And Bachelorette was mad.
[00:45:35] Yeah.
[00:45:36] Robot and Frank was, was Mondo.
[00:45:39] Wasn't it?
[00:45:39] Pretty sure it was Mondo, but that was 2012.
[00:45:42] But yeah, that was a long time ago.
[00:45:43] Straw Dogs was before that.
[00:45:45] That was absolutely.
[00:45:46] Yeah.
[00:45:46] You're going to have to go back and see the last eight.
[00:45:48] Yeah.
[00:45:49] Those aren't, those are beyond the eight.
[00:45:51] So I done, done.
[00:45:53] What?
[00:45:54] I'm finished.
[00:45:54] Those were beyond the eight.
[00:45:56] So it doesn't matter.
[00:45:57] So he's still Bachelorette has no bearing on anything.
[00:46:00] It's more than eight back.
[00:46:01] Yeah.
[00:46:02] But we should probably look as if he's been in another movie every five minutes.
[00:46:05] Yeah.
[00:46:05] But they're all Sonics and they're all right.
[00:46:07] It's the last 47 Sonic movies.
[00:46:10] So that's 47 movies.
[00:46:12] He's doing one.
[00:46:13] We have to go eight back.
[00:46:14] And he's done like 47 Sonic movies in a row.
[00:46:16] So we're good.
[00:46:17] I don't know if that's true.
[00:46:19] It is true.
[00:46:20] What am I?
[00:46:21] What am I going to lie to you?
[00:46:22] Am I a liar now?
[00:46:24] Sometimes I do not lie.
[00:46:25] I am.
[00:46:26] I am.
[00:46:26] I am worldly known as a teller of truths.
[00:46:30] It's what I'm known for.
[00:46:33] Well, these are a lot of animated stuff.
[00:46:36] You're animated.
[00:46:37] It's true.
[00:46:38] It can be.
[00:46:38] I'm pretty sure you didn't love him in Man of Steel.
[00:46:42] I'm pretty sure you're right.
[00:46:46] Okay.
[00:46:47] Stop wasting our time, Jim.
[00:46:49] I don't know what you're trying to prove.
[00:46:50] We're done, right?
[00:46:52] Well, so what?
[00:46:54] I still think you got a...
[00:46:56] I think there's movies in there you haven't seen.
[00:46:58] I...
[00:46:58] There's not a lot of...
[00:46:59] There's not a lot of Sonic back to back.
[00:47:00] I'm sorry.
[00:47:00] It's up to me to watch all the James Marsden movies?
[00:47:03] Yeah.
[00:47:03] Wait, is that a rule?
[00:47:04] No!
[00:47:05] That's not a rule at all there, my friend.
[00:47:08] Because you have 25 streaming services and technologies available so you can find anything.
[00:47:13] So there you go.
[00:47:14] That's right.
[00:47:15] That's right.
[00:47:16] Did you see Disenchanted?
[00:47:19] That was a rage, actually.
[00:47:21] Yeah.
[00:47:22] Yeah.
[00:47:23] I don't know what you're getting at.
[00:47:25] I'm saying he's not in a lot of movies.
[00:47:28] He's in lots of movies.
[00:47:30] Is he?
[00:47:31] Yes.
[00:47:31] He's in animated movies.
[00:47:33] He's in animated movies.
[00:47:34] He's also in non-animated movies.
[00:47:37] Do your homework.
[00:47:39] That's all I'm saying.
[00:47:40] How is it my homework?
[00:47:41] It has nothing to do with me!
[00:47:43] You're the one that's in love with James Marsden now.
[00:47:46] You are just ticking me off, man.
[00:47:50] So, just like the list, we will be bringing the Rage O'Dare back in the new year.
[00:47:55] New year.
[00:47:56] After our best of Mondo 2024 and Rage of 2024.
[00:48:02] Oh, yeah, right.
[00:48:02] Rage 5.
[00:48:03] Yeah.
[00:48:04] Okay, then.
[00:48:04] Yeah.
[00:48:05] It's good stuff, man.
[00:48:08] Oh, you know what?
[00:48:09] That was more fun than it deserved to be.
[00:48:12] Well, thanks, Ragers, for listening.
