Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio.
This week the Film Rage Crew review five films. Some action, some horror and some drama with a few laughs along the way are discussed. First up Tom Hardy reprises his role as Venom. Then Ralph Fiennes helps select a new pope. Then a Mohawk Warrior stands her ground. Next up is a monster in the closet movie. Then finally our friends at CUFF (www.calgaryundergroundfilm.org) had a screening of Frankie Freako as part of their 12 Hour Horror Movie Marathon.

[00:00:04] It's time to feel the rage. Welcome to Film Rage where we talk movies in theaters, streaming, and classic films as well. Directors and actors beware as you cannot hide from the rage.
[00:00:19] My name is Bryson and I'm part of the Film Rage crew which also includes Jim. Hey Jim.
[00:00:25] Hey!
[00:00:26] What are you eating?
[00:00:27] Hey!
[00:00:27] He's eating stuff.
[00:00:28] I'm eating yogurt covered raisins.
[00:00:30] That sounds disgusting.
[00:00:31] It sounds delicious.
[00:00:32] And also we have the Merman who's sporting a Deadpool Wolverine. That t-shirt's way too busy man. I don't even know what's going on with that.
[00:00:40] Because they're best buds.
[00:00:42] Sounds like the CGI in 3D that you get. Perhaps when you watch a movie.
[00:00:46] It's better than a certain movie we saw this week, I can tell you that's for damn sure.
[00:00:50] I'm not predicting anything. That's your job.
[00:00:53] I'm just hinting at it.
[00:00:54] So with the introductions out of the way...
[00:00:59] Let's Rage On!

[00:01:24] David's back, people!
[00:01:27] David's back!
[00:01:28] I couldn't find it.
[00:01:29] And you can't wait till we see what he has for us in store.
[00:01:34] David's back? I don't even know what you're talking about. Who's David?
[00:01:37] Who's David?
[00:01:38] Isn't he our number one listener?
[00:01:40] He's our number one listener!
[00:01:41] David's our number one listener?
[00:01:43] David and friends!
[00:01:44] David and friends!
[00:01:45] How did I not know this?
[00:01:46] You know what?
[00:01:47] Because you forget stuff.
[00:01:48] Because you forget everything.
[00:01:50] So why is he back? Did he give us something?
[00:01:52] Oh!
[00:01:53] What did he give us before?
[00:01:54] Just wait! You're gonna find out.
[00:01:55] Oh, okay.
[00:01:56] I've...
[00:01:57] That is what's known as a tease.
[00:02:00] That's a spoiler, yes.
[00:02:01] Well, let's get to raging then!
[00:02:03] Alright then.
[00:02:12] What the amazing moment predicts?
[00:02:13] What the amazing moment predicts?
[00:02:16] Will he predict the rage?
[00:02:17] Or will he predict the mondo?
[00:02:19] Will he tell us all what Jim and Bryce saw at the movies?
[00:02:23] Here he comes now, kids, watch your socks!
[00:02:27] He is coming swimming to you!
[00:02:32] Swimmery, swimmery!
[00:02:34] Swimmery, swim!
[00:02:36] Swimmery, swimmery!
[00:02:38] Swimmery, swim!
[00:02:39] Swim all the way to our hearts!
[00:02:47] Big sigh!
[00:02:49] Okay.
[00:02:50] So there are a bunch of movies.
[00:02:52] Yes!
[00:02:53] Not including a certain 12-hour one that...
[00:02:56] That's right!
[00:02:57] One of us didn't go to.
[00:02:58] That's right!
[00:02:59] One of us bailed on the 12-hour movie marathon.
[00:03:03] After he promised he was going to.
[00:03:05] And we saved seats for him right up until midnight.
[00:03:08] And everything.
[00:03:09] Yeah, I was gonna actually send you guys at least some sort of...
[00:03:13] With what?
[00:03:14] Your walking around phone?
[00:03:15] Oh wait, you don't have one of those.
[00:03:16] I have a phone that's connected to my wall.
[00:03:19] And it connects to you guys' walking around phones.
[00:03:22] Yeah.
[00:03:23] I can phone on that that's connected to my wall,
[00:03:26] and I can connect with you guys on your phones that you put in your pocket.
[00:03:31] I have yet to see that.
[00:03:32] Just saying.
[00:03:33] Yeah, I've never seen it either.
[00:03:34] Well, I tend not to phone anybody.
[00:03:37] Anyway.
[00:03:37] So like we said.
[00:03:39] Yeah.
[00:03:39] So...
[00:03:40] And that's what it came down to.
[00:03:41] I was like, ah, they'll figure it out.
[00:03:43] Do I actually use my phone for those?
[00:03:45] Yeah, to actually call my friends.
[00:03:47] No, I'm just gonna stay home and watch horse racing all night.
[00:03:50] Thank God he pays for this phone.
[00:03:53] Yeah, exactly.
[00:03:53] Hey, I bought a ticket.
[00:03:54] I showed my support to Cuff at least.
[00:03:56] Not enough.
[00:03:58] Anyway.
[00:03:59] Officially, there were four movies that you guys went to.
[00:04:02] Yeah.
[00:04:02] Well, five that I went to.
[00:04:05] Not including that.
[00:04:06] We'll start with the big one.
[00:04:08] The big box office one.
[00:04:10] Okay.
[00:04:11] What was that one?
[00:04:12] The Last Dance.
[00:04:14] Oh, that's Tom Hardy.
[00:04:15] We love Tom Hardy.
[00:04:18] You guys love Tom Hardy.
[00:04:19] I'm so-so with Tom Hardy.
[00:04:20] Well, that makes no sense, but go on.
[00:04:22] Uh, yeah.
[00:04:24] Having seen this and just knowing.
[00:04:27] Okay.
[00:04:28] You guys, I almost went with a meh for Bryce, but I think it's double rage.
[00:04:35] Double rage.
[00:04:38] As if he likes it, I'd be surprised.
[00:04:41] Huh.
[00:04:41] But I love Tom Hardy.
[00:04:43] You do, but this is the secret.
[00:04:44] You know what?
[00:04:44] Nobody loves Tom Hardy more than me.
[00:04:46] I said I would change my name to Mrs. Tom Hardy.
[00:04:49] I haven't heard you say that.
[00:04:51] Because I would not do that.
[00:04:53] And then we have Conclave, yet another religious movie about the Catholic church.
[00:04:57] Yes.
[00:04:58] Catholic church movies.
[00:05:00] You know how we always Catholic movies.
[00:05:01] I know you love your Catholic movies.
[00:05:03] No, there's a difference between a Catholic church movie and a conversion film.
[00:05:07] This was not a conversion film.
[00:05:09] I didn't say it was a conversion film.
[00:05:10] I said it was about the Catholic church.
[00:05:11] That's different.
[00:05:14] Yeah, maybe Jim loved it.
[00:05:16] So let's say Mondo.
[00:05:17] Ooh.
[00:05:18] Maybe he loved it.
[00:05:19] Maybe a meh.
[00:05:20] And I'm maybe a meh.
[00:05:22] Interesting.
[00:05:23] And we have Seeds.
[00:05:25] Seeds!
[00:05:25] Which Jim and I went to.
[00:05:27] And you weren't there.
[00:05:29] No, but I did go to it.
[00:05:31] It was a fun little romp.
[00:05:33] I had a few issues, so let's go double meh.
[00:05:36] Definitely had some issues.
[00:05:38] And finally, your monster, which I know absolutely nothing about.
[00:05:43] Other than the fact that you guys weren't looking forward to it.
[00:05:44] So what's that?
[00:05:46] Double rage.
[00:05:47] You're correct, sir.
[00:05:48] I was not looking forward to it.
[00:05:49] I also was not.
[00:05:51] Although I was also not looking forward to other things.
[00:05:54] It's the only movie that me and Jim saw together.
[00:05:57] Ooh.
[00:05:57] There you go.
[00:05:59] We got a private screening.
[00:06:01] Yeah.
[00:06:02] I almost got a private screening.
[00:06:03] Me and Murray got a private screening.
[00:06:05] Of Seeds.
[00:06:06] Yeah.
[00:06:06] Yeah.
[00:06:06] Hmm.
[00:06:08] I definitely didn't get a private screening of Conclave.
[00:06:11] Me neither.
[00:06:13] And definitely didn't get a private screening of Venom last night.
[00:06:16] Both of those were actually pretty full.
[00:06:18] I was actually encouraged by that.
[00:06:19] Oh, we got lots to tell you about our screening.
[00:06:21] Yes, we do.
[00:06:22] With Venom the Last Dance.
[00:06:23] Excellent.
[00:06:24] Huge.
[00:06:25] Huge.
[00:06:26] On that note,
[00:06:29] Venom the Last Dance is a frustrating, uneven mess of a movie.
[00:06:34] No.
[00:06:35] What?
[00:06:37] What?
[00:06:37] The hell you say?
[00:06:38] In this latest chapter, some villain named Knall, Knall, Knall, I don't know.
[00:06:44] The K is silent.
[00:06:45] Knall, send some creatures with a lot of teeth to find a key that will unlock him from the void that imprisons him.
[00:06:55] That key happens to exist when our heroines, Eddie and Venom, become one.
[00:07:01] Why this makes them the key?
[00:07:03] I have no idea.
[00:07:06] So then from there, this becomes a road trip movie as buddies Venom and Eddie are on the run from government agents and extraterrestrial monsters.
[00:07:16] Yeah.
[00:07:17] This all culminates in a nonsensical battle at Area 51 where blurs of CGI emblazoned the movie screen.
[00:07:27] This film may be one of the most internally polarizing experiences I have ever had.
[00:07:36] As I will admit that I genuinely found a lot of these scenes very entertaining, but they're interrupted by derivative chasms that suck the air out of the project.
[00:07:51] Venom combining with a horse to supercharge it was great.
[00:07:56] The lift Venom and Eddie got from a family on their way to Area 51 was really fun.
[00:08:01] The dance number with Mrs. Chen in the penthouse of a Vegas hotel.
[00:08:06] Fantastic.
[00:08:07] Every scene where Eddie and Venom are conversing with one another, they're all gold.
[00:08:13] I enjoyed the interaction between them.
[00:08:15] The problem is every one of these scenes is cut short to focus on the boredom going on at Area 51.
[00:08:22] I absolutely loved much of this film and I absolutely hated the rest.
[00:08:27] Still, the entertaining bits were entertaining enough to stop me from raging.
[00:08:32] What?
[00:08:33] Venom the last dance was meh.
[00:08:35] Oh, by the way, technically it's a codex.
[00:08:40] Whatever.
[00:08:41] If you've seen Man of Steel, it's the same freaking plot.
[00:08:45] Like the cameras where you take the picture and it develops before your eye?
[00:08:49] Yeah.
[00:08:50] No.
[00:08:51] Codex.
[00:08:52] Codex, yeah.
[00:08:53] You take the picture, it comes out the bottom.
[00:08:55] You usually wave it around and then all of a sudden your picture develops.
[00:08:59] Codex of the sea.
[00:09:00] It's the DNA of an entire species.
[00:09:03] No, it's K-O-D-A-K.
[00:09:04] Codex.
[00:09:06] Codex Kamler's.
[00:09:07] C-O-D-E-X.
[00:09:08] Yeah, there's the X.
[00:09:09] I have no idea what you're talking about then.
[00:09:10] You didn't make the link between the two movies like I did.
[00:09:13] I don't make links.
[00:09:15] That's not my thing.
[00:09:16] No.
[00:09:16] He's not a linker.
[00:09:17] Apparently not.
[00:09:18] Not too bright either apparently.
[00:09:20] All right.
[00:09:21] Whatever.
[00:09:21] I'm super bright.
[00:09:22] Let me tell you.
[00:09:23] I enjoyed some of it.
[00:09:25] Let me tell you my experience with Venom.
[00:09:27] Please do.
[00:09:27] The last dance.
[00:09:29] Okay.
[00:09:29] So, first things first, we had to watch this in 3D.
[00:09:35] Oh no.
[00:09:36] Which even at-
[00:09:37] And IMAX too, by the way.
[00:09:38] I did not have to do that.
[00:09:40] Well, so we didn't choose to watch it.
[00:09:43] More on that to come.
[00:09:44] Okay.
[00:09:45] So, yes, we had to watch this in 3D, which even at the absolute best levels of CGI is unwatchable.
[00:09:53] On top of that-
[00:09:55] Oh, CGI was bad.
[00:09:56] We have like 10 stories running simultaneously, which all pretty much go nowhere.
[00:10:02] I mean, I like Eddie and Venom long enough.
[00:10:06] Yeah.
[00:10:06] They are cute together.
[00:10:07] They are!
[00:10:07] But the science in this sci-fi superhero film is subject at best.
[00:10:13] Absolutely.
[00:10:14] For most of this movie, I kept trying to fact check what is possible based on their, and
[00:10:19] I'm putting in heavy quotes here, previous worlds they created.
[00:10:23] Yeah.
[00:10:23] And the ending was so completely stupid.
[00:10:25] And there was also a pre-ending, which was also stupid.
[00:10:30] Yes!
[00:10:31] So, no, Tom Hardy, as much as I love you, superheroes are still, for the most part, a
[00:10:37] hard rage.
[00:10:38] And this is no exception.
[00:10:39] And I've got lots and lots to unpack, but I kind of want to know what Murray has to
[00:10:44] say about this.
[00:10:45] Hey there, Merman.
[00:10:45] What do you have to say about this?
[00:10:49] Robocop 3.
[00:10:51] Blade Trinity.
[00:10:52] Okay.
[00:10:53] Hangover 3.
[00:10:54] Yes.
[00:10:55] Austin Powers Goldmember.
[00:10:57] Oh, so you loved it!
[00:10:59] Karate Kid 3.
[00:11:00] Yes!
[00:11:01] Spider-Man 3.
[00:11:03] Yes!
[00:11:03] That's the Tobey version.
[00:11:05] Oh, the Tobey version was a little weird at the end.
[00:11:07] Beverly Hills Cop 3.
[00:11:08] Kind of was.
[00:11:09] There was a three.
[00:11:10] The Dark Knight Rises.
[00:11:12] The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
[00:11:15] Okay.
[00:11:15] These are all threes.
[00:11:16] Taken 3.
[00:11:18] Wait, there's another-
[00:11:19] Terminator 3, Rise of the Machine.
[00:11:20] We'll be talking about that later.
[00:11:22] Once again-
[00:11:23] And X-Men Last Stand.
[00:11:27] Yes!
[00:11:27] I loved X-Men Last Stand.
[00:11:29] The studios would know better, or at least the stars who sign on.
[00:11:33] Oh, wait a second.
[00:11:34] You're saying those are negatives?
[00:11:37] The third film in the trilogy is always bad.
[00:11:41] And although I strongly disagree, people actually add Return of the Jedi to that list.
[00:11:46] Yeah, I would say you don't-
[00:11:48] That's what it is my favorite movie.
[00:11:48] Why do we have little children's creatures running around when we should have been having
[00:11:51] murder?
[00:11:51] That's a small part of it.
[00:11:53] They get worse as the movies come along.
[00:11:55] That was- You think the Ewoks are bad, wait till you see the other ones.
[00:11:59] Should we have expected any more from Venom Last Dance?
[00:12:03] No.
[00:12:04] But, Tom Hardy is so damn good that we went along for the ride.
[00:12:09] As part of the homework from last week, I watched the original Venom.
[00:12:13] Just so happened to be on network TV.
[00:12:16] Yeah, we all have to watch it.
[00:12:17] I thought they were twinking ink.
[00:12:18] This would be good.
[00:12:19] Although I normally wouldn't, but it was actually on network TV.
[00:12:22] It still holds up.
[00:12:23] It's still a good movie.
[00:12:25] Maybe because it had Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams as a love interest.
[00:12:29] And this one did not.
[00:12:31] For all its storyline flaws, the bromance road trip movie with Eddie and Venom had its fun moments,
[00:12:38] as Bryce said.
[00:12:40] There were a bunch of new characters, mostly mediocre.
[00:12:44] My favorite was Riz Ahmed or however you say it.
[00:12:49] Riz Ahmed.
[00:12:49] As the hippie dad who just wants to see an alien and have sing-alongs with his loving family.
[00:12:55] Too bad he didn't know he actually picked one up in his hippie mobile.
[00:13:00] The scenes with the family and Eddie were funny and heartwarming and short-lived.
[00:13:07] Now, as Jim mentioned, this film was in 3D.
[00:13:11] Thing is, it wasn't advertised as 3D.
[00:13:14] Nor did the staff know it was in 3D.
[00:13:18] Jim had to miss the first 10 minutes of the film.
[00:13:21] Rounding up the special IMAX 3D glasses.
[00:13:25] And I spent most of the film trying to explain the story to him when he got back.
[00:13:29] That's not a good sign.
[00:13:31] The story was really bad.
[00:13:33] CGI fight scenes were horrible.
[00:13:35] Yeah, that stuff was bad.
[00:13:37] And the main bad guy didn't even show up.
[00:13:39] Eh, whatever.
[00:13:40] Because Marvel is attempting to bring another villain into the multiverse.
[00:13:44] They shouldn't even bother because this one is lame.
[00:13:47] Yeah, this is one ooey gooey rage.
[00:13:51] Huh.
[00:13:51] Nice.
[00:13:52] Alright, let's talk about some unpacking.
[00:13:54] You do that?
[00:13:54] First off, how horrible was this CGI?
[00:13:57] It was awful, but who cares?
[00:14:00] What do you mean who cares?
[00:14:01] Okay, try not only watching it, but then add in, try watching it in 3D.
[00:14:07] The entire movie...
[00:14:09] Here's what you do.
[00:14:10] Here's what I did.
[00:14:11] Okay.
[00:14:12] Every time there was a...
[00:14:13] Sorry, lessons with Bryce.
[00:14:15] Every time there was a CGI scene coming up, which was 90% of the movie, I would take my fists and I would rub them in my eyes as much as I could and get as many tears going as possible.
[00:14:27] And then when I opened up, I'd be all glassy-eyed and everything would be blurry anyways.
[00:14:32] And then I could just blame the bad CGI on the blur.
[00:14:36] And then it was fine.
[00:14:37] Oh, okay.
[00:14:37] Don't try that at home, folks.
[00:14:39] Yeah.
[00:14:39] You know what?
[00:14:40] Why not?
[00:14:40] This guy's an optician.
[00:14:41] He knows what to do.
[00:14:42] I know eyes!
[00:14:43] Sure.
[00:14:44] That doesn't harm your eyes at all.
[00:14:45] Rubbing them really hard with your hands.
[00:14:48] Sure.
[00:14:49] No damage there.
[00:14:50] Yeah, or how about...
[00:14:51] Then you'll have to go see Bryce and he'll sell you some glasses.
[00:14:53] That's right.
[00:14:53] But not contacts.
[00:14:55] Yeah.
[00:14:55] So, okay.
[00:14:56] I'll sell you contacts.
[00:14:57] I just won't be happy about it.
[00:14:58] How about these creatures that are impossible to kill, but then are really easy to kill?
[00:15:05] Yeah.
[00:15:05] At the end.
[00:15:06] I don't know.
[00:15:07] I didn't get that.
[00:15:08] No.
[00:15:09] You blow them up with stuff and they just reassemble.
[00:15:12] Yeah.
[00:15:12] If they're not easy to kill, then why were all the Venom people...
[00:15:16] What are they called again, Murray?
[00:15:17] The Venom people?
[00:15:18] What were they called?
[00:15:19] The Venom people?
[00:15:19] The Symbiots.
[00:15:20] Symbiots, yeah.
[00:15:21] So why were the Symbiots so excited to go kill them when they knew they had no chance
[00:15:25] of killing them?
[00:15:26] Yeah.
[00:15:27] Because all of the Symbiots died.
[00:15:29] Yeah.
[00:15:29] Well, you've got to put up a fight sometimes.
[00:15:32] But...
[00:15:33] Sometimes when the odds are against you and there's just no hope, you still got to fight, Jim.
[00:15:38] Oh, okay.
[00:15:39] So this is all making sense to me now.
[00:15:43] Um...
[00:15:43] You're welcome.
[00:15:44] How many stories was in this movie?
[00:15:46] I don't know.
[00:15:46] Like five.
[00:15:47] They had like 72 layers of characters and none of them from the previous one.
[00:15:52] Except for Mrs. Chen.
[00:15:53] Yeah.
[00:15:53] They had Mrs. Chen and they had the cop dude who was in the second one.
[00:15:57] Oh, was he in the second one?
[00:15:58] Yes, he was in the second one.
[00:15:59] Oh, was it?
[00:16:00] I don't remember him in the second one.
[00:16:00] Yeah.
[00:16:00] So they don't explain anything.
[00:16:03] The one that he got blamed for killing?
[00:16:04] All they had to...
[00:16:05] Okay.
[00:16:05] Yeah.
[00:16:06] I get all your problems with this.
[00:16:08] And they really did need to cut out like all the fight scenes.
[00:16:11] An hour of this movie.
[00:16:12] And this should have been just a road trip buddy movie where they end up in Vegas and
[00:16:16] then they hang out with Mrs. Chen for a half an hour.
[00:16:17] You know what would have been...
[00:16:18] And the funny thing is they even got the time wrong.
[00:16:20] Because on IMDb, it's supposed to be an hour and 50 minutes.
[00:16:23] Oh, don't even get me started on IMDb.
[00:16:26] That's five zero minutes.
[00:16:28] Let's...
[00:16:28] If you guys continue to make IMDb the fact of facts, all IMDb does is...
[00:16:35] I'm just a freaking lie to you.
[00:16:37] IMDb is the most inaccurate website on the face of the freaking earth.
[00:16:41] And you guys keep on quoting IMDb.
[00:16:43] Just saying.
[00:16:44] Like it means anything.
[00:16:45] It means everything.
[00:16:47] It means nothing.
[00:16:48] It means nothing.
[00:16:48] IMDb gets everything wrong.
[00:16:51] Sure they do.
[00:16:51] That's all they get right.
[00:16:53] They've never got anything wrong.
[00:16:54] As if they're always wrong.
[00:16:55] They've never got anything wrong.
[00:16:56] They've never got anything wrong.
[00:16:56] They never got anything wrong.
[00:16:57] Except for everything you guys bring up every single...
[00:16:59] Oh, IMDb said this.
[00:17:01] That wasn't right.
[00:17:02] No freaking kidding.
[00:17:03] Nothing on IMDb is right.
[00:17:04] Okay, so let's get back to the movie because I still have more things to unpack.
[00:17:09] Yeah, go ahead.
[00:17:09] So why did they not explain anything to his girlfriend that he's still trying to be in
[00:17:14] love with?
[00:17:14] Are we just supposed to say, oh, you know, that ended in two and now...
[00:17:18] Because the entire time they were together, they even referenced it in this movie, was
[00:17:22] only a year.
[00:17:24] Yeah.
[00:17:24] Yeah.
[00:17:25] So it was only a year like, Carnage was part of that year.
[00:17:28] There's stuff happening, man.
[00:17:29] The initial part was part of the year.
[00:17:30] There's so much happening.
[00:17:31] And like, so his girlfriend is freshly not his girlfriend.
[00:17:35] Yeah.
[00:17:36] So?
[00:17:37] Oh my God.
[00:17:37] There's so many things wrong with this movie.
[00:17:39] And the only thing that would have meant...
[00:17:42] Cineplex said an hour and 49 minutes.
[00:17:44] It was not.
[00:17:45] It was an hour and 30.
[00:17:46] Just telling you.
[00:17:47] They got that wrong too.
[00:17:49] That was my point.
[00:17:51] Yeah.
[00:17:51] Anyway, continue.
[00:17:52] Which, you know what?
[00:17:54] Cineplex matches...
[00:17:55] And it was still too long.
[00:17:55] Maybe Cineplex gets its information from IMDB.
[00:17:58] Maybe.
[00:17:59] And if that's the case, Cineplex needs to get their information somewhere else.
[00:18:04] Yeah.
[00:18:05] You know what?
[00:18:05] There was...
[00:18:06] Here's the thing.
[00:18:08] If we took...
[00:18:09] That's the thing I like about Venom movies is I don't think any of them have been over
[00:18:13] two hours long.
[00:18:14] In fact, I think they've all been quite a bit under.
[00:18:16] I think two was longer.
[00:18:18] I don't think so.
[00:18:19] You know what?
[00:18:19] It felt longer.
[00:18:20] You know what?
[00:18:21] I'm going to check it out on IMDB.
[00:18:23] You do that.
[00:18:23] Yeah, why don't you do that?
[00:18:23] Because I know that would be right.
[00:18:25] I am not going to check it out on IMDB because it is absolutely incorrect.
[00:18:29] What source are you going to go to then?
[00:18:30] Who do you trust?
[00:18:31] Tributes?
[00:18:32] Just mind your business.
[00:18:33] Yeah, tributes definitely for sure, right?
[00:18:36] They tell us the wrong thing every week about what movies are coming out to our cinemas.
[00:18:40] Exactly.
[00:18:40] Yeah.
[00:18:40] So anyway, the only thing that could have made this movie...
[00:18:43] Stop alienating every website on the planet Earth.
[00:18:45] Speaking of alienate...
[00:18:46] Yes.
[00:18:48] The only thing that would have made this a good movie is if, to your point, they took
[00:18:52] out all the CGI, which would make this about 15 minutes...
[00:18:55] I was okay with the Venom CGI.
[00:18:56] Had, had, had...
[00:18:57] As soon as they started battling, it was...
[00:18:58] No, the...
[00:18:59] You know what?
[00:19:00] In comparison to the previous CGI's in Venom, because I watched both of those.
[00:19:04] Although, I don't...
[00:19:05] I have no clue, because we watched it in 3D, so who knows?
[00:19:08] Um, but what I can tell you is that the only thing that would have made this a good movie
[00:19:13] is if when they went to Vegas...
[00:19:15] Vegas.
[00:19:15] They just got on stage and did a stand-up act for another hour, and they took all the CGI
[00:19:19] out, and all of the stupid plot that they had half created, or half that went nowhere,
[00:19:24] and then threw in characters that have no backstory, or anything important to say, or they don't
[00:19:29] even have...
[00:19:30] Once they start speaking British, and then the next thing you know, they're completely
[00:19:33] not British.
[00:19:34] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:19:34] Which is fine.
[00:19:36] No, there was nothing good about this entire movie.
[00:19:38] No.
[00:19:39] Except, you're right about the horse, you're right about the dance scene.
[00:19:42] Yes!
[00:19:43] You're right about one other thing.
[00:19:45] The hippie family.
[00:19:45] The hippie family.
[00:19:46] Exactly.
[00:19:46] Everything that wasn't...
[00:19:48] Everything that wasn't Area 51 or a battle scene was great.
[00:19:51] So, basically you're saying 12 minutes...
[00:19:54] That's the problem.
[00:19:55] That 12 minutes should have been an hour, and the rest of it should have been 20 minutes.
[00:20:00] But it wasn't!
[00:20:00] So that's what I'm saying.
[00:20:01] You can't judge the movie on 12 minutes.
[00:20:03] I really enjoyed those 12 minutes.
[00:20:05] So what?
[00:20:06] It's not enough.
[00:20:06] It made it mad.
[00:20:07] I enjoyed them so much that it was mad.
[00:20:11] You literally rubbed your eyes for...
[00:20:12] Yeah, you rubbed your eyes and you missed everything else.
[00:20:14] 9 tenths of the rest of the movie.
[00:20:17] Because the CGI was irritating.
[00:20:19] Okay, so just so everybody's clear...
[00:20:20] The fight scenes were irritating.
[00:20:22] So all of our...
[00:20:23] So he didn't actually watch the CGI.
[00:20:24] That's insane.
[00:20:24] But the rest of it was good.
[00:20:25] He also didn't watch a lot of the movie.
[00:20:27] By the way, there will be...
[00:20:28] Let There Be Carnage, hour and 26 minutes.
[00:20:30] There you go.
[00:20:31] There you go.
[00:20:32] So...
[00:20:33] Just saying.
[00:20:33] All that being said, this movie was horrible.
[00:20:36] I never want to see another fucking Venom movie as long as I know.
[00:20:39] I don't think you will.
[00:20:40] I want to see the Venom movie that I want to see.
[00:20:42] Which is with him and Spider-Man?
[00:20:44] Well, what?
[00:20:45] No, I just want Venom and...
[00:20:49] Tom Hardy's character?
[00:20:50] Yeah.
[00:20:51] Eddie.
[00:20:52] Eddie Brock.
[00:20:53] I want Venom and Eddie to just, you know, travel around the country.
[00:20:56] The road trip.
[00:20:57] Talk to some people.
[00:20:58] Go for a road trip.
[00:20:59] And have nobody chasing them.
[00:21:00] Stop at some diners.
[00:21:01] Eat some bad people.
[00:21:02] Eat a few people.
[00:21:03] Eat a few people.
[00:21:04] That's the movie I want to see!
[00:21:05] That's the movie.
[00:21:06] And because it's not that, it's a horrible mess of a movie.
[00:21:09] Yeah.
[00:21:10] That's why it's a rage.
[00:21:10] Of course.
[00:21:11] Yeah, but there's aspects of that in it which made it watchable.
[00:21:14] It's not enough.
[00:21:14] It's not enough.
[00:21:14] It's a circle jerk that isn't pleasurable.
[00:21:16] All right, move on.
[00:21:17] So we're going to move on to Conclave.
[00:21:19] Which is a totally different kind of movie.
[00:21:21] Marie.
[00:21:21] Which also has some circle jerk in it.
[00:21:23] Does it?
[00:21:23] Well then...
[00:21:24] Just put that out there.
[00:21:24] Glad I missed it.
[00:21:25] So...
[00:21:26] I didn't see that part.
[00:21:27] Well, there is reference to it.
[00:21:29] Maybe you're rubbing your eyes again.
[00:21:30] There is.
[00:21:30] Yeah, maybe you were covering your eyes.
[00:21:31] There wasn't a lot of CGI in this movie though.
[00:21:33] My eyes were wide open.
[00:21:35] I wouldn't think so.
[00:21:35] Okay, so Conclave.
[00:21:37] This is a story from the moment I saw the trailer, I was interested in what this is going to bring me.
[00:21:43] Because I had no clue based on the trailer.
[00:21:47] Nothing.
[00:21:48] Well, you had a clue.
[00:21:49] You knew it was about Conclave.
[00:21:50] Yeah.
[00:21:51] Because that's the title of the movie.
[00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:52] But I had no clue what was going to happen in this movie.
[00:21:55] No, absolutely.
[00:21:55] Whatsoever.
[00:21:56] Even when they brought out the second trailer which pissed us off.
[00:21:58] Yes.
[00:21:59] Remember when they did that?
[00:22:00] It should never bring out more than one trailer.
[00:22:02] No.
[00:22:02] And the first trailer should be 30 seconds long and reveal nothing.
[00:22:05] Nothing.
[00:22:05] Tell you nothing.
[00:22:06] Absolutely nothing.
[00:22:07] Just some scenes that you'll go, wow, I can't wait till I see that.
[00:22:10] Some scenes that say starring Joe Blitzflicks directed by Johnny Johnston.
[00:22:15] And move on.
[00:22:16] There we go.
[00:22:17] So, first off.
[00:22:18] That'll make you see it.
[00:22:20] Yes.
[00:22:21] This is a master class in performances by a cast of brilliant, and I'm saying brilliant actors all at the top of the game.
[00:22:30] Which is led by the amazing Ralph Fiennes.
[00:22:34] Rafe.
[00:22:35] Rafe.
[00:22:35] Rafe Fiennes.
[00:22:36] I don't know why I can't pronounce his name.
[00:22:38] Wow.
[00:22:38] Because it's spelled Ralph.
[00:22:39] Because it's both.
[00:22:40] It's Ralph.
[00:22:41] Let's face facts.
[00:22:41] It's spelled Ralph.
[00:22:42] He tells us it's Rafe and who am I to argue.
[00:22:44] Yeah, exactly.
[00:22:44] He can call himself whatever he wants.
[00:22:46] Yeah.
[00:22:47] So, I don't know fully if this is what a Conclave is actually.
[00:22:54] Who cares?
[00:22:55] Who cares?
[00:22:55] Who cares?
[00:22:55] Because this was the most incredible suspense-run story I've seen in years.
[00:23:01] And unfortunately, it does.
[00:23:04] Well, maybe fortunately.
[00:23:05] I don't know.
[00:23:05] It depends who you are.
[00:23:06] It does not paint the Catholic Church in a very great light.
[00:23:09] No.
[00:23:10] So, the fact that we learned through the interviews.
[00:23:11] I thought it was kind of bad.
[00:23:13] Through the interviews.
[00:23:15] It was good and bad in there.
[00:23:16] From the director and whatnot before this.
[00:23:19] Yes.
[00:23:19] That they did have people from the Catholic Church who do give input.
[00:23:22] I wonder if they saw the movie.
[00:23:24] I would think that a lot would be okay with it.
[00:23:28] I don't think it was as derogatory as you're making it out to be.
[00:23:32] I am 100% sure the Catholic Church would not be happy with this movie.
[00:23:37] A percentage of it, yeah.
[00:23:39] Yeah.
[00:23:39] How about all of them?
[00:23:41] Okay, so the music.
[00:23:42] Hey, what about...
[00:23:43] Okay, go ahead.
[00:23:44] Okay.
[00:23:44] The music and score is craftfully written and adds a whole other layer of intrigue and suspense to an already nail-biting experience.
[00:23:53] Who would have thought watching creepy old men writing names down on a blotter for two hours could be so entertaining?
[00:24:01] And when the first ending hits us, we're satisfied.
[00:24:06] Let's face it.
[00:24:07] We're satisfied.
[00:24:08] But definitely, I can say, when we got the real ending...
[00:24:14] Okay.
[00:24:15] ...and puts a spin on this story that would turn the entire church on its ear, I almost stood up in the cinema and cheered.
[00:24:23] Really?
[00:24:24] The ending of this is so perfect in every single possible way.
[00:24:29] I don't know.
[00:24:30] I don't know.
[00:24:30] This is my second favorite film that I have seen this year.
[00:24:33] Wow.
[00:24:33] It is Mondo.
[00:24:34] I loved absolutely every single thing about this movie.
[00:24:37] I have some to unpack, but...
[00:24:38] Hey, if there's any...
[00:24:39] By the way, if there's any Cardinals out there like Lawrence or Bellini or Benitez...
[00:24:44] There is 100%.
[00:24:45] I think they'd be okay with this movie.
[00:24:47] I'm fairly certain there's a Lauren Cardinal out there.
[00:24:50] Just saying.
[00:24:51] Now, you know, Cardinal Tremblay and Adyemi and they would absolutely not...
[00:24:58] And Tedesco, he would absolutely not be okay with this movie.
[00:25:02] But I'm not...
[00:25:03] I don't think that the whole Catholic Church would be offended by this movie.
[00:25:07] Here's the thing though.
[00:25:08] Okay.
[00:25:08] So I don't want to say any spoilers because there's so many things that can be spoiled in this movie.
[00:25:13] Uh-huh.
[00:25:13] But I will say, I can't imagine that the Catholic Church wants everybody to know that this is here
[00:25:20] considering they tried to hide child molestation for 50 years under the rug without success.
[00:25:28] Yeah.
[00:25:28] And green goo in the basement.
[00:25:30] They hid that for 50 years too.
[00:25:31] Yeah, that's right.
[00:25:31] They hid the green goo.
[00:25:33] That was a different movie, Murray.
[00:25:34] Still.
[00:25:35] There's still...
[00:25:35] You don't think there's green goo hiding somewhere in the Popesville?
[00:25:37] You know, someone's got them out there somewhere.
[00:25:39] I think...
[00:25:39] In Popesville?
[00:25:40] Maybe.
[00:25:40] Someone's got the evil goo in the basement somewhere.
[00:25:42] All right.
[00:25:43] Well, what else do you think of Conclave?
[00:25:45] I don't know.
[00:25:45] Conclave is a combination of superior actors and dynamic dialogue that has you engaged from
[00:25:51] the opening scene.
[00:25:52] Hey, that's what I said.
[00:25:54] Not exactly.
[00:25:55] The film is also gorgeous to look at.
[00:25:58] From the stunning architecture to the staging of each frame, whether that be the visual
[00:26:04] of the Cardinals from above as they draw their umbrellas, as the rain comes down, or a shot
[00:26:09] of cigarette butts on the ground.
[00:26:11] Every shot has a mesmerizing quality.
[00:26:14] The outcome of the Conclave is pretty obvious early on as we are introduced to a late addition
[00:26:20] to the Conclave just before they are sequestered.
[00:26:24] Still, the journey is still filled with tension, even though it is obvious how this will end.
[00:26:30] Although, after they decide on a new pope, we get one more twist that I could have taken
[00:26:36] or left.
[00:26:36] I wasn't as...
[00:26:37] No, I was like...
[00:26:38] I was fine with it.
[00:26:39] I was like, okay.
[00:26:40] But I wasn't getting up cheering like Jim.
[00:26:43] No, this was the best ending that could possibly happen.
[00:26:46] Still, this was an excellent movie.
[00:26:47] And while I am not religious in the least, for some reason, I find movies about religion
[00:26:54] quite fascinating.
[00:26:56] Now, that is the ones that aren't trying to convert me.
[00:26:58] Yes.
[00:26:59] But movies that are objectively just about religion, pulling up the curtain, showing stuff,
[00:27:07] it's always interesting.
[00:27:09] Um, this film was Mondo.
[00:27:12] Oh.
[00:27:12] It was so...
[00:27:14] It's unbelievably...
[00:27:14] It is really, really good.
[00:27:16] And as you mentioned, the music is...
[00:27:19] Like there's nothing you can really nitpick at in this movie.
[00:27:22] There's nothing.
[00:27:22] Not one thing.
[00:27:23] And just the pace.
[00:27:25] The turns.
[00:27:25] There's so many turns in this story.
[00:27:28] And I'm just like...
[00:27:30] Yeah.
[00:27:30] As I say, and here's the...
[00:27:32] I mean, and not everybody watching this will think early on, okay, I know exactly who
[00:27:36] is going to be Pope at the end of this.
[00:27:38] Yeah.
[00:27:39] But, even if you do, it doesn't matter.
[00:27:42] You still feel a tension of every single frame of this film.
[00:27:46] And it doesn't lag.
[00:27:49] There's no boring parts of this film.
[00:27:52] Not one boring part of the whole movie.
[00:27:52] This is just such a good movie.
[00:27:55] I can 100% guarantee that nobody watching this movie will predict the ending.
[00:28:00] No one.
[00:28:01] Well, the ending ending.
[00:28:02] Yeah.
[00:28:03] No one.
[00:28:03] I predicted the ending, but not the ending ending.
[00:28:07] So, I kind of predicted the ending ending.
[00:28:10] Because I turned to my wife and I go, wouldn't this be funny?
[00:28:13] Yes.
[00:28:14] And then it was kind of that.
[00:28:16] Yeah.
[00:28:17] So...
[00:28:17] And the way that it kind of ended and it wasn't what we're almost led to believe is the ending,
[00:28:23] and it wasn't as big a spectacle as you might think.
[00:28:30] I'm thinking, okay, something else is coming.
[00:28:32] Yeah.
[00:28:32] But the thing is, you have to understand the Catholic Church.
[00:28:35] But you didn't...
[00:28:36] Like, the fact that...
[00:28:39] Sorry.
[00:28:39] One of my favorite actresses, but one that apparently you don't love as much as I do,
[00:28:43] who has also a stunning performance in this.
[00:28:46] Rossellini?
[00:28:47] Yeah.
[00:28:47] Absolutely.
[00:28:48] I love Isabella.
[00:28:49] Why don't I...
[00:28:49] You don't like her as much as I do.
[00:28:50] Let's face it.
[00:28:51] I tried to put her on the mesmerized list and you said no.
[00:28:54] Well, she's not mesmerizing, but she's awesome.
[00:28:57] She's mesmerizing.
[00:28:58] The thing is, Isabella...
[00:29:00] Although she wouldn't have won in this one.
[00:29:01] Exactly.
[00:29:03] Isabella Rossellini is mesmerizing.
[00:29:06] However, not always.
[00:29:08] She has had some roles where...
[00:29:10] Apparently in this movie, she wasn't.
[00:29:12] Wow, she wasn't, yeah.
[00:29:13] But, you know, her big part of the whole movie...
[00:29:15] She was so good.
[00:29:16] Her big part of the whole movie is that, you know, even though I'm not a man,
[00:29:21] you know, I still got eyes and ears and I have a voice, right?
[00:29:24] So...
[00:29:25] But probably not a vote.
[00:29:26] Yeah.
[00:29:27] Well, yeah.
[00:29:28] 100% not a vote.
[00:29:29] Not a vote, but she definitely had a hand in it.
[00:29:32] She had power.
[00:29:32] Yeah.
[00:29:33] She had some power.
[00:29:34] She voted.
[00:29:35] Trust me, Murray.
[00:29:38] She made a statement for everybody to hear that she absolutely swayed the way this was
[00:29:45] going to go.
[00:29:46] Oh, yeah.
[00:29:47] But yeah, no, Sister Agnes, she was awesome.
[00:29:50] But yeah, this was so...
[00:29:52] Like, this was an amazing movie.
[00:29:54] I went in and think...
[00:29:55] I honestly thought I was going to like it just because you look at the cast and you're
[00:29:58] like, okay, there's going to be some stuff here, but I didn't realize I was going to
[00:30:01] like it this much.
[00:30:02] Well, I've never seen a movie like this really that...
[00:30:05] Because it's deep seated in all the pomp and circumstance that surrounds the conclave.
[00:30:11] And we all know about it.
[00:30:12] We all know about the black smoke.
[00:30:13] We all know about the white smoke.
[00:30:15] Everybody who's not Catholic, you know, when they're poping around making Pope changes.
[00:30:20] Yeah, when they're doing the Popey thing.
[00:30:22] Yeah.
[00:30:23] They tell us, you know, you can't walk down the street and throw a rock without hitting
[00:30:27] a Catholic around you.
[00:30:27] Trust me, I know.
[00:30:29] Yes.
[00:30:29] I've worked arts and broadcast TV and I sat there at four o'clock in the morning waiting
[00:30:32] for the goddamn pile of smoke.
[00:30:34] Yes.
[00:30:35] Yes.
[00:30:35] CNN had it live and we had to keep cutting through it.
[00:30:37] This is CNN.
[00:30:39] There's going to be a smoke.
[00:30:40] It's like, oh no, wait.
[00:30:41] No.
[00:30:42] Oh.
[00:30:43] Oh.
[00:30:44] It's time.
[00:30:44] Well, you know what, Marie?
[00:30:46] It's black again.
[00:30:46] When you eventually see this movie.
[00:30:47] Try watching it live at five in the morning.
[00:30:49] That's all I'm going to say.
[00:30:50] Sounds awesome.
[00:30:50] When you eventually see this movie, which everybody in the world should see this movie,
[00:30:57] you'll know why that it goes on black.
[00:30:59] Not for me.
[00:31:00] Yeah.
[00:31:01] Pacing was fantastic.
[00:31:02] Yeah.
[00:31:02] The whole Catholic-ness of this was fantastic.
[00:31:05] The visuals, as you mentioned, were so completely...
[00:31:07] It was just a beautiful movie.
[00:31:07] Every single scene is so beautifully shot.
[00:31:09] Actually, both my wife and I walked out of the cinema and we both looked at each other
[00:31:13] and said, wasn't that the most beautiful film you've seen in a long time?
[00:31:16] Oh.
[00:31:16] Heck yeah.
[00:31:17] I was mesmerized by the shot of the cigarette butts.
[00:31:21] Like literally, I was like, what an unbelievably good shot that is.
[00:31:26] And then they'd move to the next thing and the next thing.
[00:31:28] It's like, sometimes I was distracted a little by how beautiful the movie was.
[00:31:32] Yeah.
[00:31:33] But you're getting that in combination with some of the best performances you're going
[00:31:36] to see, some of the most stellar writing you're going to see.
[00:31:39] Like just everything just fits so good.
[00:31:41] It's just a great movie.
[00:31:42] What was cool for me was that as we're there, my wife's also going, we were there.
[00:31:47] We were there.
[00:31:47] Because we've been to the Vatican, right?
[00:31:49] You are a world traveler.
[00:31:50] Yeah.
[00:31:50] I get a lot of that with Kim whenever there's a movie that's taking place somewhere she's
[00:31:54] been.
[00:31:55] She tells me all about where she's been.
[00:31:57] Like, okay.
[00:31:58] Which makes you tie to the story maybe a little more.
[00:32:01] Ah.
[00:32:02] Well, that's enough about the Catholic faith.
[00:32:05] Yes.
[00:32:06] Let's talk about planting some seeds.
[00:32:10] Yeah.
[00:32:11] All right.
[00:32:12] So, seeds is a film about a Mohawk woman who takes a job as an online influencer, whatever
[00:32:17] the hell that is.
[00:32:17] She's already watching.
[00:32:18] She just signs with something.
[00:32:19] For a seed and fertilizer company named Nature's Oath.
[00:32:24] I'm not going to do this job, and I'm using heavy quotation marks.
[00:32:27] Turns out, because I still don't think it exists.
[00:32:29] That's just...
[00:32:30] There is like millions of them.
[00:32:31] I'm sure there are real companies that exist just like them.
[00:32:34] That makes no sense to me, online influencer.
[00:32:36] That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
[00:32:38] Oh, yeah.
[00:32:39] Turns out to be different than she had thought this company, Nature's Oath.
[00:32:43] And they may have ulterior motives.
[00:32:45] From here, things got pretty silly.
[00:32:47] And although I agree with the message, this is another movie that beats you in the face
[00:32:54] constantly for almost 90 minutes with that message.
[00:32:57] I don't like getting preached to this hard.
[00:32:59] Please make a movie that's sort of entertaining in between as well.
[00:33:02] I feel there was a good movie in this mess that I witnessed, but the film needed to go all the way with the ridiculousness or tone it down a little.
[00:33:11] It kind of was right in the middle there for the longest time.
[00:33:14] Still, the last 30 seconds may be on a short list of best last 30 seconds of any movie ever.
[00:33:22] And...
[00:33:22] So, and with your math...
[00:33:24] So that makes it math.
[00:33:25] Of course.
[00:33:25] There you go.
[00:33:25] Because the last 30 seconds was like, okay...
[00:33:28] I got one right.
[00:33:29] You know what?
[00:33:29] This was pretty much worth the journey of boredom that I experienced so I could experience the last 30 seconds.
[00:33:35] It was only 80 minutes.
[00:33:36] It was a short moment.
[00:33:37] And it was a quick romp.
[00:33:38] Absolutely.
[00:33:39] And don't get me wrong.
[00:33:40] I liked the last five to 10 minutes of it, but I felt that it didn't fit with the previous 70 minutes as well as it should have.
[00:33:49] I didn't know the...
[00:33:51] I didn't see the progression to that point.
[00:33:53] Yeah, you know what?
[00:33:54] But that last 30 seconds, man.
[00:33:57] That was great.
[00:33:59] Five minutes, but concentrated in the last 20 seconds.
[00:34:02] Yeah.
[00:34:03] This literally the last...
[00:34:05] Just the last...
[00:34:05] Like all the other stuff with the, you know, that was good, but it didn't make sense to me.
[00:34:11] But the last 30 seconds I could care less about everything else because that was fricking mondo.
[00:34:17] All right.
[00:34:17] Unfortunately, there was the rest of the movie as well.
[00:34:20] All right, man.
[00:34:20] There you go.
[00:34:22] And Bryce math.
[00:34:23] Yeah.
[00:34:23] And Bryce math.
[00:34:24] Yeah.
[00:34:25] All right.
[00:34:25] So, indigenous home alone meets Monsanto meets TikTok.
[00:34:29] Yep.
[00:34:30] But with a super cute cat named Potato.
[00:34:33] Potato.
[00:34:33] Who lived hard and died young.
[00:34:35] And when the fabulous Graham Greene tells you to go fuck up some bad guys, you gotta get shit done.
[00:34:43] You gotta listen to Uncle G.
[00:34:44] That's right.
[00:34:45] Uncle G.
[00:34:45] See, this story gives us a taste of the North Bay indigenous community and how valuable their seeds are to their culture and legacy.
[00:34:54] We get to learn don't fuck with a badass native woman who's protecting her crops and avenging her cat.
[00:35:01] Oops.
[00:35:01] Did I just let that out?
[00:35:02] Uh, but also if you do something real bad might happen to you.
[00:35:07] That's all I'm gonna say.
[00:35:08] Uh, this really isn't much of a story here that we haven't heard before.
[00:35:12] And there are a few gaps in the whole focus of this film, but I do love ladies who kick ass and punch dicks.
[00:35:17] I'm not gonna lie.
[00:35:18] Yep.
[00:35:19] And there is a message here, which Bryce has said was rammed down our throats, uh, which is do not sell out to evil white men, which I always suggest if you're given the opportunity to never do that.
[00:35:30] I totally agree.
[00:35:31] I 100% agree with the message.
[00:35:35] Yeah.
[00:35:35] I just didn't want to be hammered over the head.
[00:35:37] See, I'm okay with it.
[00:35:38] Make your point.
[00:35:39] Yeah.
[00:35:39] And let's, let's actually write a good story.
[00:35:41] See, I was okay with them continuing to hammer that point home.
[00:35:44] As me, Murray and I were sitting there, I'd go, see, this is what's happening to your community.
[00:35:48] And he's like, you know what?
[00:35:49] I almost got him to go back and get more in touch with his roots.
[00:35:53] Almost.
[00:35:54] Almost.
[00:35:55] I think, I don't think all of it was, you know, that it wasn't a great movie.
[00:35:59] Let's face it.
[00:35:59] But I think there is enough in here to have me hope.
[00:36:03] Yeah.
[00:36:03] 30 seconds.
[00:36:04] That I can't pronounce her first name, but it's kind of Hey Tio.
[00:36:08] Just call her Tio.
[00:36:09] K.
[00:36:09] Tio Horn.
[00:36:11] Tia Horn.
[00:36:12] Is that what it is?
[00:36:13] Tio Horn.
[00:36:14] I think it's.
[00:36:15] Yeah.
[00:36:15] I hope she keeps making, uh, indigenous stories that contain her language and some indigenous
[00:36:20] musicians, which we, which we also got and Canadian alt bands.
[00:36:24] Plus the ending as Bryce has already alluded to, which alone deserves to make this film
[00:36:30] all the way to a man.
[00:36:32] That's what, that's what happened.
[00:36:34] The ending made it a man.
[00:36:35] The ending is so good.
[00:36:37] Yeah.
[00:36:38] And I would say, uh, you know, as you had said, there was funny parts in, I was enjoying
[00:36:44] the moments with, with potato.
[00:36:46] I enjoyed moments with her and her cousin.
[00:36:49] Yeah.
[00:36:49] The dumb ass.
[00:36:50] Yeah.
[00:36:50] Yeah.
[00:36:51] So yeah, I didn't hate it as much as you, but I also didn't think it was that great.
[00:36:57] What'd you think Murr?
[00:37:01] It's my house.
[00:37:02] I have to defend it.
[00:37:04] Yes.
[00:37:05] Where have I heard that before?
[00:37:06] That's right.
[00:37:07] You'll come to me.
[00:37:08] I'm sure.
[00:37:09] Once again, Bryce was a no show on movie Monday.
[00:37:14] Uh, I actually had no intention of seeing this film mostly due to budget limitations, but
[00:37:20] I also had planned on seeing Venom on cheap Tuesday in my own neighborhood, but plans change
[00:37:26] and I had a chance to hang out with my buddy Jim for the whole day.
[00:37:29] Yes.
[00:37:30] Since our double feature had an early end time, I was able to see both.
[00:37:35] Cause I don't do late nights.
[00:37:37] You know that.
[00:37:37] Yep.
[00:37:38] I'm Murray.
[00:37:39] First of all, Graham green is the man 70 years old and still a legend on screen.
[00:37:47] It wasn't really his film, but uncle G was as awesome as ever.
[00:37:53] Uh, the writers slash director slash star of the film whose name I can't pronounce.
[00:37:58] Uh, was simply a bad-ass kind of naive and not too bright, but a bad-ass.
[00:38:06] Uh, this movie was basically a home alone.
[00:38:08] Home on.
[00:38:09] She's a warrior.
[00:38:10] And Oh yeah, that's where it's from.
[00:38:12] Uh, and she has to defend her family seeds from the evil corporation that she mistakenly
[00:38:19] chooses to work for and leads to her family's reservation land.
[00:38:24] The first 45 minutes, like most films was a bit slow.
[00:38:30] Uh, luckily it was only an 82 minute film and the last 20 minutes did not disappoint.
[00:38:36] No.
[00:38:37] Lesson we should learn from this film is don't piss off a Mohawk woman because they always
[00:38:43] get revenge.
[00:38:44] Yes.
[00:38:45] In the worst possible ways.
[00:38:48] It was suspenseful, thrilling and short enough that you don't get bored.
[00:38:52] Uh, it was a myth.
[00:38:54] Yeah.
[00:38:54] It wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable.
[00:38:56] You know what that means?
[00:38:57] I do know what that means.
[00:39:03] What does it mean?
[00:39:04] It means that we actually, we all agreed perfectly agreed that the last 20 seconds was the best
[00:39:11] 20 seconds of this week.
[00:39:13] I enjoyed more than just 20 seconds.
[00:39:14] It really was.
[00:39:14] Well, maybe not the best.
[00:39:16] Yeah.
[00:39:16] Maybe the last 20 minutes in conclave was also the best.
[00:39:19] Yeah.
[00:39:19] They're both equally good in their own way.
[00:39:24] No, but yes, the 20s, the last 20 to 20 seconds was really good.
[00:39:28] Yep.
[00:39:30] And then the way it just, bam, faded to black and we're done.
[00:39:33] It was just like, yeah, don't piss around.
[00:39:34] You made a perfect ending.
[00:39:36] It was a perfect ending.
[00:39:37] Don't mess with it.
[00:39:37] And she didn't mess with it.
[00:39:38] So kudos to her for that.
[00:39:40] Yeah.
[00:39:40] I can't wait to see what she does next.
[00:39:41] I actually, I am excited to see what she does next.
[00:39:43] Cause I do, I do see some flashes of, of brilliance in there, but you know, we'll see.
[00:39:48] Well, you know what?
[00:39:49] In, uh, in the interviews I've saw of her, like this was, this was her homage to Home Alone.
[00:39:56] So yeah, she wrote it and directed it and she was in it.
[00:39:58] So yeah, it was her baby.
[00:40:00] Yeah.
[00:40:00] It's good.
[00:40:00] All right.
[00:40:01] Uh, we saw your monster.
[00:40:03] Hmm.
[00:40:04] Okay.
[00:40:05] So the monster was pretty funny.
[00:40:07] His timing was spot on.
[00:40:09] And there was a couple of scenes with an Amazon driver that were also very funny.
[00:40:14] Oh yeah.
[00:40:14] I like the Amazon driver.
[00:40:16] He was awesome.
[00:40:16] The music was really well placed and also great choices for the feel of each scene that
[00:40:24] they fit into.
[00:40:25] So the music part actually did add to this story.
[00:40:28] Okay.
[00:40:28] Okay.
[00:40:28] But about 15 minutes into this, you soon realize that firstly monsters don't wear clothes and
[00:40:35] this is just another version of beauty and the beast.
[00:40:38] But in this one we have a beauty who's a whiny, stupid idiot, like most beauty and the beast
[00:40:42] movies.
[00:40:43] And we've got the Gaston like ex-boyfriend is the same as you find in any Gaston like character
[00:40:50] and the beast.
[00:40:51] I didn't really understand about the beast.
[00:40:53] I didn't understand the whole universe that they created for the beast.
[00:40:55] I just didn't get it.
[00:40:56] So as expected, yes, she does fuck a monster.
[00:41:00] And this story is like every other stupid rom-com rip off beauty and the beast.
[00:41:05] Only in this case, we get a monster.
[00:41:07] So for the first 15 minutes, this was on its way to not having me be annoyed.
[00:41:12] But then the rest of the movie happened.
[00:41:14] They also tried to, and I'm putting this in heavy quotes, fight club us at the end, but
[00:41:19] it was way too late to have any true value whatsoever.
[00:41:24] This movie was horrible.
[00:41:25] There was parts of it that were funny, but unlike Bryce, even if it was 10 minutes of funny
[00:41:31] monster, this was still a horrible, horrible, awful, terrible, smelly, poopy movie.
[00:41:36] I hated it.
[00:41:37] It was a rage.
[00:41:38] All right.
[00:41:38] Your monster is about a girl named Laura who is dumped by her boyfriend who leaves her
[00:41:44] in the middle of a cancer treatment.
[00:41:46] She then moves into her mom's house where she finds a monster living in the closet.
[00:41:52] From there with her monsters help Laura starts her life again, gaining the confidence to do
[00:41:58] things she would not be able to do without the help of her monster.
[00:42:02] She also learns about self love.
[00:42:05] And I mean, she really learns of how to love herself.
[00:42:10] Anyways, nothing really lands in this.
[00:42:13] The story is underdeveloped and very predictable.
[00:42:18] The twist ending was more like a foregone conclusion.
[00:42:21] And overall, this whole experience was just kind of irritating.
[00:42:26] My monster was a rage.
[00:42:29] Oh, what? I thought you liked the monster.
[00:42:30] You thought it was funny.
[00:42:32] Yeah, you liked the monster.
[00:42:33] I thought he was funny too.
[00:42:35] That doesn't make this a good movie there, Jimbo.
[00:42:38] Wait, can we just go back to Venom the Last Dance?
[00:42:42] Two different scenarios.
[00:42:44] Kind of the same.
[00:42:45] Yeah, but this is a rom-com in that one.
[00:42:46] Plus, there's a level of enjoyment that I reached with Venom in those scenes
[00:42:53] that even in my monster's best scene didn't come close to that level.
[00:42:58] So, stick your...
[00:43:01] Finger in a light socket?
[00:43:02] Yeah.
[00:43:03] All right.
[00:43:04] Well, I don't really want to say much more about that.
[00:43:06] Yeah, there's nothing to talk about.
[00:43:07] There is a button that Murray has to push twice.
[00:43:10] Rage!
[00:43:19] Well, Jim and I actually attended the cup 12 hour.
[00:43:25] Yeah, we did.
[00:43:26] Halloween movie madness thing.
[00:43:29] Marathon.
[00:43:29] Marathon.
[00:43:30] Yeah, the whole big shmazzle.
[00:43:32] Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
[00:43:35] And it was friggin' sold out and there were so many people there.
[00:43:39] Yeah.
[00:43:39] It was nuts.
[00:43:40] There was people standing at the back.
[00:43:42] Yeah, the first movie which we're talking about.
[00:43:44] Well, you guys are saying, sorry, this seat's saved.
[00:43:46] I was sitting in Bryce's seat saving it for him.
[00:43:49] We had two seats next to us, saving one for you.
[00:43:54] And yeah, there were at least 20 people I counted at the end of the movie.
[00:43:57] Is that he taken?
[00:43:57] Yeah, we think he's coming.
[00:44:00] They didn't ask, but no, they just stood at the back in front of the exit door by the way.
[00:44:04] So you couldn't even get out of the theater.
[00:44:05] So yeah.
[00:44:06] Nice.
[00:44:06] All right.
[00:44:07] So the first movie.
[00:44:08] Cuff.
[00:44:09] Overselling event.
[00:44:10] Wait, so this is still part of our in cinema events, right?
[00:44:13] Yeah, yeah.
[00:44:13] This isn't your Merman Minute, right?
[00:44:15] No, no.
[00:44:15] This is at the end of our list here.
[00:44:17] Nice.
[00:44:17] I was gonna switch to music, but that's still a movie.
[00:44:20] It's not even on my agenda.
[00:44:22] That's because you didn't see it.
[00:44:24] Anyway, the first movie, which I missed of course the first 10 minutes, because I was,
[00:44:27] you know, helping to do stuff.
[00:44:30] It's called Frankie Frico.
[00:44:33] Frankie Frico!
[00:44:35] And a workaholic yuppie, Connor, he basically is boring and shit.
[00:44:40] And his girlfriend goes away for the weekend and he calls this party line and gets these demonic puppets over and they trash his house.
[00:44:50] And it kind of goes from there.
[00:44:52] There's a demonic hell dimension made up of puppets that they travel to.
[00:44:59] Yeah.
[00:45:00] This was really stupid.
[00:45:02] It really was.
[00:45:04] So many things about this.
[00:45:06] Like, oh my God.
[00:45:07] It's like, I guess if you like puppets and movies and carnage is good, but it wasn't like real carnage.
[00:45:13] It was puppet carnage.
[00:45:15] Puppet carnage.
[00:45:15] So there wasn't blood, like, not like Chucky, right?
[00:45:19] Uh, yeah, it was sort of funny, but it was very stupid.
[00:45:23] That's what its point is.
[00:45:25] I couldn't get it above a mat.
[00:45:26] It was just ridiculous, but everyone enjoyed it.
[00:45:29] Well, let me tell you a quick story about.
[00:45:33] I think I could have watched this.
[00:45:35] You probably could have.
[00:45:36] Even if I didn't go to the.
[00:45:38] Maybe you still can, but you can find it.
[00:45:40] Hmm.
[00:45:40] Because it looks like it might be available to rent.
[00:45:43] Sweet.
[00:45:43] There you go.
[00:45:44] All right.
[00:45:44] Well, all I want to say is shabadoo.
[00:45:48] Shabadoo.
[00:45:48] It's time to get.
[00:45:49] My favorite line.
[00:45:50] It's time to get freaky.
[00:45:52] Frankie Freako freaky.
[00:45:54] It's a comedy puppet horror and it kind of felt like a trauma film actually.
[00:45:59] Yeah.
[00:46:00] With its completely idiotic humor.
[00:46:03] Yeah.
[00:46:03] I laughed a lot through this movie.
[00:46:05] I had a lot of fun with this.
[00:46:06] The movie's terrible.
[00:46:07] Let's face it.
[00:46:08] And for the most part, it's really stupid.
[00:46:11] Yeah.
[00:46:11] But you know what?
[00:46:12] I really, really had a good time watching this.
[00:46:15] So the time, the movie I would say is a man, but the experience I had watching this was
[00:46:20] definitely a Mondo.
[00:46:21] Of course.
[00:46:22] Yeah.
[00:46:22] I think if I would have watched this at home, it wouldn't have been the same at all.
[00:46:26] No, you wouldn't know.
[00:46:27] You had to see it.
[00:46:27] You know, the funniest.
[00:46:28] Cause I could totally watch this right now.
[00:46:30] It is available.
[00:46:31] There you go.
[00:46:32] So if you want to watch Frankie Freako, you can get it through, get through Apple for
[00:46:36] it.
[00:47:05] Nice.
[00:47:06] You're like, this is the best movie I've seen in a long time.
[00:47:09] Oh really?
[00:47:10] They loved it.
[00:47:10] They loved it.
[00:47:11] Yeah.
[00:47:11] So you know what?
[00:47:12] If, if you want some stupid comedy, stupid and a guy that goes, Shabbadoo.
[00:47:19] Shabbadoo.
[00:47:20] My favorite guy.
[00:47:22] Shabbadoo.
[00:47:23] Shabbadoo.
[00:47:24] Shabbadoo.
[00:47:24] Sounds pretty good.
[00:47:26] Yeah.
[00:47:26] I had a good time.
[00:47:27] I think, I think knowing you, you probably would have hated this though.
[00:47:31] Really?
[00:47:31] Cause you know who directed it.
[00:47:33] You didn't have a big fan of their work.
[00:47:34] So far, but that doesn't mean, you know.
[00:47:37] Yeah.
[00:47:38] Anyways.
[00:47:38] All right then.
[00:47:44] Oh baby.
[00:47:45] Well, since I already did the, uh, really bad trilogy movies, I guess I'd do something
[00:47:50] else.
[00:47:50] Uh, it took me two weeks, but I finally got through Dr. Sleep.
[00:47:59] I have never seen The Shining.
[00:48:01] No idea what it was about, except that Jack goes crazy and tries to kill his family.
[00:48:05] That's all I know about it.
[00:48:06] That's pretty much it.
[00:48:07] I guess there was some supernatural stuff in there too.
[00:48:10] Uh.
[00:48:11] With a shinning.
[00:48:12] Yeah.
[00:48:12] With a shinning.
[00:48:13] Uh, people are shiny and apparently they have steam.
[00:48:17] I'm sure fans of the original film probably hated it.
[00:48:19] And with good reason.
[00:48:21] Fake Jack Nicholson.
[00:48:23] Fake Shelley Duvall.
[00:48:26] I know for a fact, both actors were alive when this movie was made.
[00:48:30] I'm guessing they wisely said no to returning for what was supposed to be a sequel.
[00:48:36] I like Dr. Sleep.
[00:48:37] It sounds like it's going to be negative.
[00:48:39] Yeah.
[00:48:39] I love Dr. Sleep.
[00:48:40] I'm not done yet.
[00:48:41] Oh.
[00:48:41] Oh, okay.
[00:48:42] I'm just saying if you like the original, maybe you don't like this one as much.
[00:48:44] I love both of them.
[00:48:45] Because they recreated a lot of them.
[00:48:46] They're very different.
[00:48:47] And they're both very different.
[00:48:48] Yeah.
[00:48:49] They're both very good.
[00:48:50] My reasons for watching this were twofold.
[00:48:54] Who is?
[00:48:54] Ewan McGregor.
[00:48:55] Probably my favorite all time actor.
[00:48:58] Yes.
[00:48:58] More than the Ryans.
[00:49:00] And Russell Crowe.
[00:49:02] What?
[00:49:02] Love everything he does.
[00:49:04] What about Ben Affleck?
[00:49:06] That's at the very bottom of his list?
[00:49:08] What?
[00:49:08] You've got him out of your mouth or I'll have to throw something at you.
[00:49:10] But he's the finest actor of mine or anybody else's generation.
[00:49:13] You keep that name out of my wife's mouth or something like that.
[00:49:18] That name out of my ears.
[00:49:20] I don't want to hear it.
[00:49:21] I'm confused.
[00:49:22] The second reason, the absolutely mesmerizing Rebecca Ferguson.
[00:49:26] She was great.
[00:49:27] She was easily my favorite part of the last three Mission Impossibles, which is why I
[00:49:32] was so pissed off at the end of the last one.
[00:49:34] But I digress.
[00:49:35] I don't even remember any of the Mission Impossibles.
[00:49:38] No.
[00:49:38] I remember them all.
[00:49:40] They're just so bad.
[00:49:41] I loved her character.
[00:49:42] I liked her in those movies.
[00:49:43] Yep.
[00:49:44] This story definitely had some problems.
[00:49:46] What?
[00:49:47] The whole killing children and eating their steam.
[00:49:51] Yeah.
[00:49:51] It's awesome.
[00:49:52] WTF was up with that.
[00:49:54] It's cool.
[00:49:54] That's steam eating.
[00:49:55] I just didn't get it.
[00:49:57] It's safe to say little Danny Torrance had some inner demons.
[00:50:02] Mmm.
[00:50:02] And I enjoyed watching Ewan deal with all that.
[00:50:06] Mmm.
[00:50:06] The little girl was pretty good too.
[00:50:08] Acting well beyond her years.
[00:50:10] They also had good on-stream chemistry.
[00:50:12] Good power duo.
[00:50:14] Rebecca Ferguson was simply badass.
[00:50:19] Pure evil in a cute hat and haunting blue eyes that sparkled when she was devouring souls.
[00:50:26] Yes.
[00:50:27] She was terrifying but delicious.
[00:50:30] I was mildly disappointed by the end but it was still a satisfying final fight scene.
[00:50:35] Did I love it?
[00:50:37] No.
[00:50:38] I could never hate Ewan McGregor film.
[00:50:40] This was far from his best.
[00:50:42] Rebecca Ferguson, I could literally watch her read a phone book and be entertained.
[00:50:48] As slow as this film was, and it was way too long at two and a half hours, I had to stop
[00:50:54] and finish the rest the next day.
[00:50:57] It was a mildly suspenseful meh.
[00:51:01] I don't know about recreating all the original Shining scenes with new actors though.
[00:51:05] I guess AI hadn't become a thing then.
[00:51:08] Maybe.
[00:51:08] Yeah.
[00:51:09] I loved this film.
[00:51:10] It was alright.
[00:51:11] I mean I'm not really into horror films.
[00:51:13] I think it could have gone for another hour.
[00:51:15] I would have been happier.
[00:51:15] It was way too freaking long.
[00:51:17] But as Simon said, I enjoy Ewan McGregor.
[00:51:19] So yeah, I can watch him in a three hour movie if I had to.
[00:51:21] There you go.
[00:51:23] So yes, I finally got a chance to see it.
[00:51:27] If I wasn't doing this, I would go see The Shining, which is playing tonight.
[00:51:30] Nice.
[00:51:31] Temperature rising.
[00:51:35] Vision blurring.
[00:51:37] Rage taking over.
[00:51:39] Alright.
[00:51:57] My rage is real simple.
[00:52:02] Cineplex.
[00:52:03] Yeah.
[00:52:04] Yeah.
[00:52:04] So I went, I made a commitment to myself to go to movies in IMAX whenever they're available.
[00:52:13] Because I figure if there's gonna be a movie that deserves to have an IMAX, we should see it in IMAX.
[00:52:18] So I said, Murray, we're gonna go see the new Venom film in IMAX.
[00:52:25] When I bought my ticket, it said IMAX.
[00:52:28] We get there and the movie starts.
[00:52:32] And actually, it only gave us like 20 seconds.
[00:52:35] Because usually the trailers, if it's gonna be a 3D movie.
[00:52:38] You put on your glasses now or something.
[00:52:40] Yeah.
[00:52:40] Or it'll give you trailers in 3D.
[00:52:43] Yep.
[00:52:43] So none of that happened.
[00:52:45] The movie just started and it was in 3D.
[00:52:48] So we all, me and this other lady who brought her two kids, ran out to speak to somebody.
[00:52:55] I'm like, this is in 3D.
[00:52:57] And they're like, what?
[00:52:58] It's not supposed to be.
[00:52:59] I'm like, well, I don't care.
[00:53:01] It's in 3D.
[00:53:02] Either stop it and put on not 3D, which I never won in the first place.
[00:53:07] Yeah.
[00:53:07] So then after we saw the movie, both me and her, well, you missed the first 10 minutes of the movie.
[00:53:11] So already I'm pissed.
[00:53:13] And then when we come out afterwards and I'm trying to explain it to the manager, I'm like, it's not, it wasn't, I didn't buy a ticket for 3D.
[00:53:23] And I would never go to a 3D movie in IMAX.
[00:53:26] And she's like, but it says she had this piece of paper.
[00:53:29] Take your ticket.
[00:53:30] She has this piece.
[00:53:31] No, she had a piece of paper.
[00:53:32] And she says, but it says it's in 3D.
[00:53:34] I said, I don't care what it's saying in here.
[00:53:36] Take a look at my ticket.
[00:53:37] And the other lady was with me and she's like, yeah, take a look at my ticket.
[00:53:40] We did not buy anything in 3D.
[00:53:44] And the lady's like, I wouldn't have brought my kids to see 3D movie.
[00:53:48] They they're too young for it.
[00:53:50] So anyway, we had to fight to get any reparations for how terrible the experience was.
[00:53:56] And literally, I'm not kidding you.
[00:53:58] Like the, we know how bad CGI can be and where it's a blur.
[00:54:01] It literally in 3D is unwatchable.
[00:54:06] You don't know, have a clue about anything.
[00:54:08] Yeah.
[00:54:09] And so I'm like, why anybody would want that is beyond me.
[00:54:12] So anyway, Cineplex, you drop the ball both on this, but also on the fact that, um, you know, when it, when someone comes to you,
[00:54:22] Bad customer service.
[00:54:23] Yeah.
[00:54:23] Bad customer service.
[00:54:24] Just give them their money back or whatever.
[00:54:28] Like don't, don't get into an argument.
[00:54:31] Well, if it was in the IMAX theater, did they not have like someone taking the tickets there and saying you need 3D glasses?
[00:54:37] No, they didn't find her.
[00:54:38] They didn't know it was in, in 3D.
[00:54:41] What in the hell is going on?
[00:54:42] Yeah, exactly.
[00:54:43] So somebody, she had it on a piece of paper, but it wasn't.
[00:54:47] Yeah.
[00:54:47] It's on her official document from Cineplex.
[00:54:50] Yeah.
[00:54:50] So that's not all she goes by.
[00:54:52] But if you go onto the website to buy the tickets, it doesn't say 3D.
[00:54:56] And also when we came out after they knew that we had 3D glasses.
[00:55:00] Yeah.
[00:55:01] There was no place to put our 3D glasses.
[00:55:03] There was no bin to put them.
[00:55:04] So people were just really worried.
[00:55:06] I literally handed mine to like the guy who was taking tickets on one of the sides.
[00:55:11] I went to use the bathroom and I said, yeah, here's the glasses.
[00:55:14] I don't know where to put them.
[00:55:14] So I just dropped them on his little podium.
[00:55:17] So here, here's, here's an extension to that.
[00:55:20] Stop making 3D movies.
[00:55:22] They're just horrible.
[00:55:24] Like if you're going to make a nature film in 3D where it's slow moving.
[00:55:28] Sure.
[00:55:29] Maybe that would work out.
[00:55:30] But if it's an action movie, don't put them in 3D.
[00:55:33] They're just horrible.
[00:55:34] Yeah.
[00:55:35] And this new X that's coming.
[00:55:37] Oh God.
[00:55:37] They had all the boxes there.
[00:55:39] We went to use the bathroom and there's literally now there's a box that all said screen X on
[00:55:43] them.
[00:55:44] So now when you go to the cinemas that you got, you got to try and avoid ultra D box.
[00:55:49] AVX.
[00:55:50] Ball busting.
[00:55:51] 40X.
[00:55:52] 40X.
[00:55:52] Ball busting.
[00:55:53] You got to, you got to avoid 3D and, and soon to, you want to try and avoid X.
[00:55:59] Screen X.
[00:56:00] Whatever you do, do not watch a movie in X.
[00:56:02] It's horrible.
[00:56:04] All right.
[00:56:05] So that's all.
[00:56:06] Luckily my cinema doesn't have any of that.
[00:56:08] Thank God.
[00:56:08] They have AVX.
[00:56:09] That's it.
[00:56:09] Exactly.
[00:56:10] But they also have comfier seats.
[00:56:11] They also have IMAX.
[00:56:13] Ish.
[00:56:13] No, not really.
[00:56:14] Not mine.
[00:56:15] But anyway.
[00:56:16] Not in my neighborhood.
[00:56:17] Oh, well you have a plan this week.
[00:56:24] Not really.
[00:56:28] After last week.
[00:56:29] You didn't come with a plan.
[00:56:31] Well, I know what I'm my rage is, but it's lame.
[00:56:34] Oh, is it as lame as last week?
[00:56:36] Cause I was last week.
[00:56:37] I don't think there ever was one.
[00:56:39] Was it?
[00:56:39] It was basically me.
[00:56:40] Yeah.
[00:56:41] Cause you got mad.
[00:56:42] Cause I, I walked stepped up.
[00:56:44] Oh yeah.
[00:56:44] You walked across the room and I want to test.
[00:56:47] It's written down this time.
[00:56:48] You can't, you can't distract me this time.
[00:56:51] What's happening over here?
[00:56:52] Anyways.
[00:56:53] Oh, I forgot my rage.
[00:56:54] My rage this week.
[00:56:57] People get up in the middle of a podcast.
[00:57:00] Is it?
[00:57:00] I'm just old.
[00:57:01] And by the time that I was done watching the races on Saturday, I just did not have
[00:57:07] enough energy to even get to the globe.
[00:57:10] I'm like, I don't even think I'd say for me to drive my car there right now.
[00:57:14] Not on a Saturday night there wasn't.
[00:57:16] And I'm like, even if I get there, I'm going to sit down and just fall asleep within
[00:57:20] like five seconds.
[00:57:21] But you would have woke up at five and you would have got to the last couple of days.
[00:57:24] Maybe, maybe.
[00:57:26] But yeah, I was just, I just can't believe how unbelievably tired I was Saturday night.
[00:57:32] How old were you?
[00:57:32] And I literally, I took a nap Saturday afternoon so I would be alert so I could make it to the
[00:57:38] 12 hour movie marathon and you know, maybe not make it through the whole thing like I
[00:57:43] used to, but yeah, I'll make it through to like two, three, four in the morning.
[00:57:46] But no, that wasn't the case.
[00:57:48] I could not even, I literally didn't feel safe driving.
[00:57:51] And then, and then my girlfriend Kim says, well, I could drive you.
[00:57:56] And then, you know, Jim maybe could, you know, drop you off.
[00:57:58] I'm like, yeah, you know what?
[00:58:00] I'm just, I'm done.
[00:58:02] I'm going to bed.
[00:58:04] Jim didn't stay for the whole night.
[00:58:05] No, I didn't either.
[00:58:06] Although Murray could have at seven in the morning.
[00:58:08] I was close.
[00:58:09] There you go.
[00:58:10] So then, but I did watch on, on streaming.
[00:58:13] I watched the, one of the movies that play.
[00:58:17] Yeah.
[00:58:18] Night of the living dead or return of the living dead three.
[00:58:20] No, F no.
[00:58:22] Opera.
[00:58:23] Yes.
[00:58:24] You watched opera.
[00:58:25] No, no, sorry.
[00:58:26] No, I didn't watch off.
[00:58:27] I didn't watch opera.
[00:58:28] I watched opera actually not that long ago.
[00:58:30] That was a weird one.
[00:58:30] It is a weird one.
[00:58:31] Sorry.
[00:58:32] That's one of the ones I would have.
[00:58:33] That's one of the ones I would have been fine.
[00:58:35] I only saw the last half.
[00:58:36] I watched the Vincent Price one, the theater of blood.
[00:58:40] Yeah.
[00:58:41] So, so here, want to know a funny thing about it.
[00:58:44] So I got home cause I was tired.
[00:58:45] Yeah.
[00:58:45] But then when I got home, I couldn't sleep.
[00:58:47] So I did the exact same thing as you.
[00:58:48] I watched theater of blood streaming and then I started watching opera and then I fell
[00:58:53] asleep.
[00:58:53] There you go.
[00:58:55] So yeah, but at least, at least my money was there, right?
[00:58:58] I wish I could have supported the globe more and bought it.
[00:59:00] You know, I should have called you and said, buy a big pop thing of popcorn and give
[00:59:04] it to someone and I'll pay you back.
[00:59:05] There you go.
[00:59:06] A hat or a hoodie?
[00:59:08] Yeah.
[00:59:08] I bought it.
[00:59:08] I got a new hat by the way.
[00:59:10] Actually, I don't have that, those cool hoodies that you, you bought that hoodie.
[00:59:14] I think this year, didn't you?
[00:59:16] The gray one.
[00:59:17] The gray one.
[00:59:17] Yeah.
[00:59:19] I want one of those.
[00:59:21] So people who are listening, if you're not from Calgary, you should check out calgary
[00:59:26] underground film.org because it is literally the best festival that exists in anywhere
[00:59:32] in the world.
[00:59:33] And there is another one coming up.
[00:59:35] Yeah.
[00:59:35] There's our documentary festivals coming up.
[00:59:37] Yeah.
[00:59:37] I'm hoping I'll get to some of it.
[00:59:40] You will.
[00:59:41] We'll see.
[00:59:41] We'll see.
[00:59:42] We'll make you.
[00:59:45] Reach.
[00:59:54] So this one's going to be a tough one.
[00:59:56] Cause actually Murray also watched this one.
[00:59:58] So he has input.
[01:00:02] Yeah.
[01:00:03] Well, if you watch it, if I'm feeling better actually, now that Murray watched it as well.
[01:00:08] Thank God.
[01:00:09] I was, I am agonizing over this.
[01:00:12] I don't want to say the name that I'm going to say because I don't want either of these
[01:00:16] gone because they're both unbelievably brilliant, but one in this was particularly not up to
[01:00:24] his regular standard, which is Riz Ahmed.
[01:00:26] No, Riz Ahmed would outshined Tom Hardy ridiculous.
[01:00:30] He was not even close.
[01:00:32] Riz Ahmed absolutely was more mesmerizing.
[01:00:34] Riz Ahmed was like bland and boring.
[01:00:36] You are high right now.
[01:00:37] I didn't even find him even in the scenes half the time.
[01:00:40] Oh my God.
[01:00:41] What were you watching?
[01:00:43] I was watching Venom.
[01:00:44] That's right.
[01:00:45] Okay.
[01:00:45] Well, I don't have to worry at all.
[01:00:47] I did.
[01:00:47] I thought I was going to have to worry.
[01:00:48] I thought for sure.
[01:00:50] Murray was going to say Tom Hardy.
[01:00:52] I did.
[01:00:52] I did say Tom Hardy.
[01:00:54] Cause me and me and Jim are obviously going to say Riz Ahmed cause he was super mesmerizing
[01:00:58] in this.
[01:00:59] He wasn't mesmerizing at all.
[01:01:00] You are out to lunch.
[01:01:02] Anyways, whatever.
[01:01:03] Riz Ahmed was absolutely more mesmerizing.
[01:01:05] He was walking in the park.
[01:01:07] No, he was.
[01:01:08] He takes the most mundane roles and still you can't look away with this.
[01:01:13] Oh, I looked away from him the whole movie.
[01:01:15] You're no way.
[01:01:16] I don't know.
[01:01:17] You just have some infatuation.
[01:01:19] I don't.
[01:01:19] Exactly.
[01:01:20] I looked at this completely objectively cause I honestly had no idea.
[01:01:23] I didn't even remember this movie cause I'm pretty sure I slept through this movie the
[01:01:28] first time.
[01:01:28] So anyways, I watched it this time and stayed awake the entire time.
[01:01:33] You know what?
[01:01:33] It's not a bad, it's bad a movie as I remember.
[01:01:35] It's actually pretty good.
[01:01:36] Well, it's got diminishing returns.
[01:01:38] That's right.
[01:01:39] Right.
[01:01:39] It's like first one was good.
[01:01:41] The second one was not, you know, in rewatching the second one.
[01:01:44] Well, the thing is I need to rewatch the second one because I'm pretty sure I fell asleep
[01:01:48] in it too.
[01:01:48] No.
[01:01:49] The second one I remember we both, all of us, I think gave it a man.
[01:01:52] Yeah.
[01:01:52] But in rewatch on it, I slept through a good 25 minutes of that one.
[01:01:55] Oh, okay.
[01:01:56] So in rewatch of this, I did not like the second one.
[01:01:58] I'm going to watch it again soon.
[01:01:59] I may have to change my, my opinion on it or maybe I'm just getting more.
[01:02:03] Anyways, you're, you're out to lunch.
[01:02:05] No, you're out to lunch.
[01:02:06] Risen Mad was so good in this.
[01:02:07] No, you're wrong.
[01:02:08] I'm with Jim.
[01:02:09] Tom Hardy.
[01:02:10] Two against one.
[01:02:10] Oh, I knew you were going to be with Tom Hardy.
[01:02:12] Of course.
[01:02:13] Yeah.
[01:02:13] It's just the way it is.
[01:02:14] You could have closed your eyes and you still was.
[01:02:16] So do you see we're going with it with the, with the listener one this week?
[01:02:19] Listener what?
[01:02:20] What are we going to do?
[01:02:21] No, that's going to be, we'll talk about that next.
[01:02:23] Okay.
[01:02:24] What are we doing?
[01:02:24] Talking about that next.
[01:02:25] What's going on?
[01:02:25] What are we talking about?
[01:02:26] All right.
[01:02:26] Well, we'll hold off on getting a new list because we've got a pretty busy couple of weeks
[01:02:30] here coming.
[01:02:30] So, well, I'm sure Mario will find us something to watch in a bit, but no one gets removed.
[01:02:35] So that's unfortunate for Risen Med.
[01:02:39] I don't know what you guys were watching.
[01:02:42] Not the same movie either.
[01:02:43] I must've got a different, I must've got a, I got, I got a different version of Venom
[01:02:48] apparently.
[01:02:49] Cause the one I watched, there is no question.
[01:02:50] Maybe there was different edits in it where Risen Med was actually trying to do something.
[01:02:54] Risen Med is just so good in it.
[01:02:58] I don't know what you're talking about.
[01:02:58] He usually is in everything except for that movie.
[01:03:00] Ah, you're, you're insane.
[01:03:07] Last week on Rage or Dare, Jim did the sensible thing and chose to pull from my bag of evil
[01:03:16] remakes and sequels where he pulled Terminator 3, Rise of the Machines, Liquid Terminators.
[01:03:25] Oh yeah.
[01:03:27] This week, it's back to both our little Halloweeners who get to rage or dare.
[01:03:32] I hope they pull a scary story.
[01:03:35] Your God of Rage loves him some scary stuff kids.
[01:03:39] Okay.
[01:03:39] Let's check in with Jim and see if hot Terminators who get wet can make Jim wet with rage sweat.
[01:03:45] Or maybe just, you know, cry from sadness.
[01:03:48] As long as there's moisture involved somewhere, that's all that matters.
[01:03:54] Oh yeah.
[01:03:55] There's, there is moisture involved.
[01:03:57] Really?
[01:03:58] Oh yeah.
[01:03:58] I almost watched this cause I remember kind of liking it.
[01:04:01] Yeah.
[01:04:01] So, um, I'm a fan of T1 and T2.
[01:04:04] I'm just going to put that out there.
[01:04:05] They're both great sci-fi creative and original in their own right.
[01:04:11] But what and why did we get a third one?
[01:04:15] Yes.
[01:04:16] To this point, we did not have a hot Terminator.
[01:04:20] That's true.
[01:04:20] That can make her own breasts go bigger.
[01:04:22] But let's face it.
[01:04:25] Did we need that?
[01:04:27] I don't know.
[01:04:28] Maybe.
[01:04:29] Maybe.
[01:04:30] Apparently we did.
[01:04:32] Also, adult John Connor is a terrible actor.
[01:04:36] And this is just lazy writing.
[01:04:38] How is this Terminator better than the previous liquefied Terminator dude?
[01:04:44] And it's, it's, um, it's not, there's no, nothing new that you can do with Arnie.
[01:04:51] Like there's no third thing with Arnie.
[01:04:53] I mean, he was a bad guy.
[01:04:55] Then he was a good guy.
[01:04:56] Then he just stayed good.
[01:04:57] So every time Arnie shows up, you don't try and make a surprise like, is he going
[01:05:01] to be the good guy or the bad guy this time?
[01:05:03] He, it's just, there's no, there's only one, you know, there's only Rocky one or Rocky
[01:05:07] two.
[01:05:08] He didn't turn evil.
[01:05:08] And this is basically now Terminator one or Terminator two.
[01:05:12] And it's now just continuously Terminator two.
[01:05:15] So we're liking this.
[01:05:17] So our hot lady, Terminator is John Connor.
[01:05:20] I love Nick stall.
[01:05:21] He's horrible in this.
[01:05:22] And our hot lady Terminator is just stealing lines from Arnie's original film.
[01:05:28] Again, lazy writing like all sequels.
[01:05:31] This is no exception.
[01:05:32] We have diminishing returns in the Terminator franchise.
[01:05:35] One and two are both great.
[01:05:36] And the diminishing returns of three are like a complete drop off instantly.
[01:05:41] All the jokes are copied from one and two.
[01:05:44] Nothing is funny or original.
[01:05:45] And it's also stupid.
[01:05:47] Cause there would be no way of stopping this super Terminator.
[01:05:51] No, no way possible.
[01:05:52] Be honest.
[01:05:53] I remember when this came out, I was not impressed and then rewatching it with my extreme hatred
[01:06:01] of sequels.
[01:06:02] This had me raging before I got bored, which both happened actually in this, by the way,
[01:06:06] the CGI is completely horrible.
[01:06:09] It was a science behind what would happen with Terminator lady was idiotic and dumb.
[01:06:15] Then it went from stupid to even more stupid.
[01:06:19] No surprise.
[01:06:20] They have T2 Arnie, which is what we got for the, his next 11 appearances in this.
[01:06:28] And we got a car chase that took one quarter of the movie up at, as it takes out building
[01:06:35] after building, after building and all 10 characters are all annoyable, annoying and unlikable to
[01:06:40] the entire movie.
[01:06:41] There is no story other than I'm a Terminator and I'm here to kill John Connor and his team
[01:06:46] of friends.
[01:06:47] The story is already old by the time we get to three.
[01:06:50] I hated just about every second of this film, except for seeing PG nudes of hot Terminator
[01:06:56] lady and Arnie's butt.
[01:06:58] PG.
[01:06:58] What the hell?
[01:06:59] Yeah.
[01:06:59] All we did was get to see their butts.
[01:07:02] Huh?
[01:07:03] Yeah.
[01:07:03] This was probably, I remember not liking this movie when it came out originally, but we're
[01:07:09] watching this.
[01:07:09] This was so completely horrible and awful.
[01:07:11] I hated every single scene of this movie.
[01:07:14] It was terrible.
[01:07:15] And you had to pay money to watch it.
[01:07:16] Yeah.
[01:07:17] That's weird.
[01:07:17] I had to buy it.
[01:07:18] Now I own this piece of garbage.
[01:07:20] I don't understand.
[01:07:20] But I did get it.
[01:07:21] Can I borrow it?
[01:07:22] Yeah, I'll give it to you.
[01:07:22] I've got the extra features.
[01:07:23] You can watch it.
[01:07:24] All right.
[01:07:25] Yeah.
[01:07:26] I remember liking it.
[01:07:28] Okay.
[01:07:28] Well, I, you know what?
[01:07:29] I don't even have to.
[01:07:30] You know what?
[01:07:30] You know, it's kind of weird though.
[01:07:32] In the kind of looking up this, uh, looking up Nick stall.
[01:07:36] Did you know there's a let the right one in TV series?
[01:07:39] Yes.
[01:07:40] Yes.
[01:07:40] I didn't know that.
[01:07:41] Well, you don't watch TV.
[01:07:42] So yeah, exactly.
[01:07:43] That's it.
[01:07:44] It's a Showtime original.
[01:07:46] Then it should be gold.
[01:07:47] It might be.
[01:07:48] Yeah.
[01:07:49] So I think I might see you knocked it out of the park with this, knowing that I would
[01:07:53] hate this movie.
[01:07:55] Thank God.
[01:07:55] I got it.
[01:07:56] Cause apparently Bryce would have been excited.
[01:07:57] I think I, I think I would have enjoyed it.
[01:07:59] I remember enjoying it, but I, you know, I was, how old was I was 2002, 2003?
[01:08:04] I don't know.
[01:08:05] Something like that.
[01:08:05] It would have been like 29, 30, probably slept through that one too.
[01:08:09] 29, 28.
[01:08:09] So, I mean, you might've thought Terminators was a good thing.
[01:08:14] This sleeping through movies is a new thing.
[01:08:16] Oh, it is.
[01:08:16] It's only the last few, it's only the last few years that now I sit down and I blame
[01:08:22] the reclining chairs that they've got now.
[01:08:25] How do you not fall asleep?
[01:08:27] They're so comfortable.
[01:08:28] They're so comfortable.
[01:08:28] See, that's why I, I feel like I'm being set up every time I go to a movie.
[01:08:32] That's why I argue we shouldn't go to those recliner seats.
[01:08:35] If you're not switching around every five seconds.
[01:08:37] I don't actually have to recline.
[01:08:39] They're remaking American gigolo.
[01:08:41] What is going on?
[01:08:42] You know what?
[01:08:42] The world is a remake.
[01:08:44] All right.
[01:08:45] So we talked about David.
[01:08:47] It's a TV series.
[01:08:48] There's an American gigolo TV series.
[01:08:50] Sure.
[01:08:51] Why not?
[01:08:51] It's got John Bernthal in it.
[01:08:53] You know what?
[01:08:53] Stop.
[01:08:54] Can we stop looking at this?
[01:08:55] All right.
[01:08:56] So we talked earlier about David, our number one listener and friends.
[01:09:01] So David actually dared us to see a movie and I want to quote exactly what he had to
[01:09:07] say to us.
[01:09:07] He said, Hey guys, we are loving the podcast.
[01:09:12] Keep up the great work.
[01:09:13] Exclamation point.
[01:09:15] Did he signal, signal me out?
[01:09:17] No.
[01:09:18] We'll just wait.
[01:09:19] Single me out.
[01:09:19] Says we were talking about James Franco and his wide range of movies.
[01:09:24] When we found out he was in something we, we hadn't seen.
[01:09:28] Okay.
[01:09:29] The movie is called about cherry from 2012.
[01:09:34] That's my dare.
[01:09:36] Work colleagues and I are divided on whether it was great or just the worst.
[01:09:40] And then he actually gave us a LOL too.
[01:09:42] He says, guys break the tie.
[01:09:44] So for next week, we'll be watching the James Franco 2012 film about cherry.
[01:09:54] My goodness.
[01:09:55] The movie poster is intriguing.
[01:09:56] Isn't it?
[01:09:57] It looks like a little bit of TNA in that.
[01:09:59] Just saying.
[01:10:00] There could be some nudity.
[01:10:01] Oh my goodness gracious.
[01:10:02] Which is kind of a Franco thingy.
[01:10:04] Am I old enough to watch this?
[01:10:05] Who doesn't, who doesn't enjoy nudity?
[01:10:07] It's an IFC midnight production.
[01:10:08] Ooh, I love IFC midnight productions.
[01:10:10] It's got Heather Graham in it.
[01:10:13] Heather Graham's always naked.
[01:10:14] Maybe you'll see it on Shudder then.
[01:10:16] All right.
[01:10:16] Dum-dum.
[01:10:17] Dum-dum.
[01:10:17] Dum-dum.
[01:10:18] Nice.
[01:10:19] All right.
[01:10:20] David, we cannot tell you.
[01:10:22] It's got Dev Patel in it.
[01:10:23] Uh-oh.
[01:10:24] This is going to be a mondo.
[01:10:26] Oh my gosh.
[01:10:26] We don't even need to watch it.
[01:10:27] It's not going to be a rage with Dev Patel.
[01:10:28] Well, he did dare us to see it and he gave us money.
[01:10:31] So we're going to watch it.
[01:10:32] Oh, I'm watching it.
[01:10:33] I'm excited to watch this.
[01:10:34] I didn't even realize Dev.
[01:10:35] Oh my goodness.
[01:10:35] This trailer is just too much.
[01:10:37] There you go.
[01:10:38] Okay.
[01:10:38] You know what?
[01:10:39] This looks naughty.

[01:10:46] He gets sidetracked too often.
[01:10:47] Exactly.
[01:10:48] Very distracted right now.
