Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio.
This week the Film Rage Crew review five new releases including a Lego biopic about Pharrell Williams, a non Lego biopic about Donald Trump, an ensemble biopic about the first Saturday Night Live show, a Biopic about a serial killer that was on The Dating Game and what I can only assume must be a biopic about Art the Clown.... He really exists..... Right? Then Bryce was forced to watch Beyond the Law starring Charlie Sheen in the Rage or Dare segment.

[00:00:04] It's time to feel the rage. Welcome to Film Rage where we talk movies in theaters, streaming and classic films as well. Directors and actors beware as you cannot hide from the rage. My name is Bryce and I'm part of the Film Rage crew which also includes Jim. Hey there Jim.
[00:00:26] Hey. Hey.
[00:00:28] And it all is cool. Yeah, you take way too long. You need to speed that up. We've only got like, I don't know, we're gonna do this in like a half hour, right?
[00:00:36] Oh yeah. It's fast.
[00:00:37] Alright, so? We're gonna blast through this sucker today. Some of us had a plan.
[00:00:41] Hey, it's the Merman! I heard his voice. Where is he? Where is he? Ah, there he is. Hey Merman, how you doing today?
[00:00:46] Yo, I'm alright. A little tired. Yeah, well.
[00:00:49] So obviously you gotta work for a living. No rest for the wicked, my friend. It's Wednesday.
[00:00:54] It's Wednesday. It's Wednesday all day long. So with the introductions out of the way, let's rage on!
[00:01:08] Well, thanks for all of us. If you love our independent podcast, please like, subscribe, share, and give us a five-star rating on your listening platform.
[00:01:16] For supporters to join our Film Rage community by joining our membership at bombingcoffee.com forward slash FilmRageRideAC.
[00:01:22] If you cannot commit to a membership, you can still buy us a movie, rent us a city, a terrible movie that'll fuel our rage.
[00:01:27] If I played anywhere in the world in cinema, we'll watch it.
[00:01:33] Yeah! Let's get to Raging!
[00:01:36] You two are goofy.
[00:01:42] He directed me to get to Raging.
[00:01:45] Oh, that's your Raging.
[00:01:47] Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
[00:01:49] What amazing moment, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot.
[00:01:54] Or will he predict the race, or will he predict Armando?
[00:01:57] And tell us all what Jim and Bratzel at the movies.
[00:02:01] Here he comes swimming to you.
[00:02:04] Oh, Swimmery?
[00:02:06] Swimmery, Swimmery.
[00:02:08] Swimmery, Swimmery, Swim!
[00:02:09] Oh, Swimmery, Swimmery.
[00:02:12] Swimmery, Swim!
[00:02:13] Swim all the way to our hearts.
[00:02:17] And I have an update, by the way.
[00:02:19] An update?
[00:02:20] Because last week we asked our listeners...
[00:02:22] No! I put it out to the listeners, and I said,
[00:02:26] who, out there, loves our song.
[00:02:30] And we had multiple people post off of our last episode
[00:02:34] and actually quoted the Merman song.
[00:02:37] So, the amazing Merman predicts is living on in social media.
[00:02:41] Traitors all.
[00:02:43] Thought they were behind me.
[00:02:44] The listeners...
[00:02:45] They're 100% behind you, Merman.
[00:02:47] That's right, 100%.
[00:02:49] No, they were behind me, they would do what I requested.
[00:02:52] Hey, the listeners want what the listeners want.
[00:02:55] This week I care even less than I usually do.
[00:02:57] So, here we go.
[00:02:58] Nice!
[00:02:59] You know what?
[00:03:00] Most podcasts, you know, part of their subculture is,
[00:03:03] and subtext of their podcast is, you know, we care.
[00:03:06] No, we don't.
[00:03:08] That's not us.
[00:03:09] I don't know about you, but...
[00:03:10] That's me.
[00:03:10] I think one of my major faults is that I care too much.
[00:03:13] Yeah, that's what I'm always sad about you.
[00:03:15] That's what most people say about you.
[00:03:16] I know.
[00:03:17] If I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand times.
[00:03:19] Okay, five movies.
[00:03:22] Five!
[00:03:22] Which I managed to see two.
[00:03:24] I managed to see five, because I wasn't sleeping on the job.
[00:03:27] I saw five and a half.
[00:03:30] Five and a half?
[00:03:31] Yeah.
[00:03:32] I don't even know what that means.
[00:03:34] Why is it a half of another movie?
[00:03:36] Piece by Piece, which is the animated adventures of one Pharrell Williams.
[00:03:41] I kept on thinking it was Brick by Brick, but that's the Iggy Pop album.
[00:03:45] That's right.
[00:03:45] No, it's Lego.
[00:03:46] Lego Pieces.
[00:03:46] So get off my dick.
[00:03:49] I'm building it brick by brick.
[00:03:54] Never getting through this, are we?
[00:03:55] Maybe not.
[00:03:56] This pod...
[00:03:57] You know what?
[00:03:57] He says he wants to rush our podcast.
[00:03:59] Whatever.
[00:03:59] It's a kids movie.
[00:04:00] It's animated and it's about a...
[00:04:01] It's so not a kids movie.
[00:04:03] Producer, whatever you want to call it.
[00:04:05] Double man.
[00:04:06] Okie doke.
[00:04:08] The Apprentice.
[00:04:10] The unauthorized story of one Donald J. Trump.
[00:04:15] DJ!
[00:04:15] In his early days and how he got the way that he is now.
[00:04:19] God help us all.
[00:04:21] Double man.
[00:04:22] Because I saw like five minutes of it, so I couldn't see you loving it.
[00:04:25] Alright.
[00:04:25] Saturday night.
[00:04:28] It's alright for fighting.
[00:04:29] Me and Jim went to...
[00:04:30] Yes.
[00:04:31] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday night.
[00:04:33] I know what I thought of it.
[00:04:34] Yes.
[00:04:35] I'm hoping that Jim liked it a little bit.
[00:04:38] Oh, ok.
[00:04:38] Double man that one too.
[00:04:40] Double man.
[00:04:42] Saturday night.
[00:04:43] Here's where I'm mixing it up.
[00:04:45] Alright.
[00:04:46] Terrifier 3.
[00:04:48] Terrifier 3.
[00:04:49] Which we got to see in the lovely town of Bam.
[00:04:52] We did!
[00:04:53] Bamfuffa?
[00:04:54] Bamfuffa.
[00:04:55] Bamfuffuffa.
[00:04:56] Uh, I don't know about Bryce.
[00:04:58] I mean, I don't think he loved it maybe as much as perhaps me or you did.
[00:05:03] So let's go mad for him.
[00:05:05] But of course, Jim, I can see Mondo in the hell out of that thing.
[00:05:11] Then finally, Woman of the Hour.
[00:05:13] Hour.
[00:05:14] Anna Kendrick's directorial debut.
[00:05:18] Yes.
[00:05:18] Which she also starred in.
[00:05:20] I believe it's pronounced D-butt.
[00:05:22] D-butt.
[00:05:23] D-butt.
[00:05:26] D-butt.
[00:05:27] D-butt.
[00:05:27] D-butt.
[00:05:28] D-butt.
[00:05:28] D-butt.
[00:05:28] D-butt.
[00:05:29] No, that's...
[00:05:30] I'm usually about the butt.
[00:05:33] I don't know.
[00:05:33] It looked interesting.
[00:05:33] I might have gone to it.
[00:05:35] I think Jim might have found some enough of it to like maybe a meh.
[00:05:40] Bryce, let's throw a rage out at you.
[00:05:42] Yeah.
[00:05:43] He hasn't thrown one out yet.
[00:05:44] So...
[00:05:44] Well, there it is.
[00:05:46] Alright.
[00:05:46] I saw so many movies, I'm not even sure what I'm going to be rating these.
[00:05:49] You don't even remember.
[00:05:50] It's going to be by the skin of his teeth.
[00:05:52] That's the thing.
[00:05:53] I'll decide as we go along.
[00:05:54] When you see one or two, you remember them.
[00:05:56] When you see five, you don't remember anything.
[00:05:58] I remember everything.
[00:05:59] I remember...
[00:06:00] My mind's like a steel trap.
[00:06:02] I remember the Alamo.
[00:06:04] Sure.
[00:06:04] Really?
[00:06:04] Were you there?
[00:06:05] No, I saw Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
[00:06:07] Mmm, yeah.
[00:06:08] It was Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
[00:06:10] That's a good movie.
[00:06:10] Was Pee-wee at the Alamo?
[00:06:12] I actually remember...
[00:06:12] He was at the Alamo.
[00:06:13] In 18 whatever it was.
[00:06:15] I don't even remember Big Top Pee-wee.
[00:06:17] Was it any good?
[00:06:17] Yeah, of course it's...
[00:06:19] It's...
[00:06:19] I need to...
[00:06:20] It's Top Pee-wee.
[00:06:20] I need to watch it again though.
[00:06:21] It's so good!
[00:06:22] I totally don't remember it.
[00:06:24] He's got a pet pig.
[00:06:25] It's awesome.
[00:06:27] Hmm.
[00:06:27] And it has the kissing scene.
[00:06:30] The kissing scene?
[00:06:30] Kissing pig?
[00:06:31] The famous Pee-wee kissing scene.
[00:06:33] There's a famous...
[00:06:34] I didn't even...
[00:06:35] I don't know.
[00:06:35] He kisses a pig?
[00:06:36] You know what?
[00:06:37] You're gonna have to watch it.
[00:06:38] Alright, so we're gonna open up with Piece by Piece.
[00:06:42] Which is not Brick by Brick.
[00:06:44] No!
[00:06:45] No, it's not.
[00:06:46] This is where Lego comes in is bricks.
[00:06:48] Right.
[00:06:49] And pieces also.
[00:06:50] It all makes sense now.
[00:06:51] Mostly bricks.
[00:06:51] They usually say...
[00:06:52] Well, do you see Lego nowadays?
[00:06:54] Back in the day it was a brick.
[00:06:55] Oh yeah, back in the day.
[00:06:55] Now, it's like formed pieces.
[00:06:58] Yeah, they're already formed and you only build one thing out of it.
[00:07:00] You put two things together and you've made a Lego set.
[00:07:02] And it's like you're done.
[00:07:03] You can't mix and match.
[00:07:04] Except for the Death Star, which is like 10 million pieces.
[00:07:09] So Piece by Piece...
[00:07:10] Yes.
[00:07:11] ...is a Feral Williams story as a docudramatic biopic musical in the form of a Lego movie.
[00:07:18] Yeah.
[00:07:18] So it has originality and imagination going for it, but as original as the concept is
[00:07:24] of presenting Feral's story with Lego, it becomes very unoriginal with the formulaic way it
[00:07:32] uh... chronicles the rise and fall aspect of his story.
[00:07:36] Plus I'm not sure who this film was supposed to appeal to.
[00:07:41] It is...
[00:07:41] It is too mature for the crowd of youngsters that packed the cinema with...
[00:07:45] that I was in.
[00:07:46] I'm sitting there in the cinema and the one kid is so freaking bored that his dad had to
[00:07:52] pull out his cell phone and show him, you know, some stupid cartoon.
[00:07:55] And I was glad that he did because at least the kid shut up...
[00:08:00] For two minutes.
[00:08:01] For two minutes while he watched that.
[00:08:04] But I don't know that it was, you know, I...
[00:08:06] Because of it being an animated feature, I'm not sure that adults are going to be really
[00:08:10] going to this either.
[00:08:11] I felt like this needed to be darker, but how is that possible with Lego brand?
[00:08:17] Yeah, well, with the Lego brand on full display.
[00:08:20] The other thing that was a little annoying...
[00:08:24] What?!
[00:08:24] Is the way it glossed over certain events.
[00:08:26] We learned that, you know, Feral wanted to get out of his first contract for various reasons.
[00:08:32] But how did he get out of this contract?
[00:08:34] What happened?
[00:08:35] Like nothing was explained.
[00:08:37] Like the stuff I really wanted to know about, they kind of glossed over and then
[00:08:41] instead cut to his parents sharing some stupid story that means nothing that was kind of amusing.
[00:08:47] It was funny.
[00:08:48] Yeah.
[00:08:49] So...
[00:08:52] Yeah.
[00:08:53] So...
[00:08:55] It's got odd half-tellings of stories.
[00:08:58] Yep.
[00:08:59] And they were preppered throughout this.
[00:09:02] But long story short, as an experiment, this was extremely entertaining.
[00:09:06] But as an informative biography or documentary, it falls flat.
[00:09:15] Because I didn't really learn the stuff I was looking to learn.
[00:09:20] It's very beautiful to look at.
[00:09:23] I love the music.
[00:09:24] I love the energy.
[00:09:27] I don't know what it is though.
[00:09:29] And I think it wanted to, you know, learn me a few things about Feral Williams.
[00:09:35] But I'm not sure I did.
[00:09:37] Did I enjoy looking at this?
[00:09:39] Did I enjoy listening to it?
[00:09:41] Absolutely.
[00:09:42] But it fell short as a documentary.
[00:09:44] And I think that was still kind of the point.
[00:09:47] See, I...
[00:09:48] And I don't know who it was for.
[00:09:49] Yeah.
[00:09:49] So I enjoyed it.
[00:09:51] I enjoyed it a lot.
[00:09:53] But it was mad.
[00:09:54] Okay.
[00:09:55] Well, and before I jump in, I'll say what people...
[00:10:00] And I kind of maybe allude to it when I do have my deets on this.
[00:10:05] But this is just an interview.
[00:10:07] So it's an interview with him that whoever did the interview, they decided to animate it.
[00:10:13] So we don't know how long the interview went.
[00:10:16] Like, to me, it's kind of a biopic, but it's also kind of...
[00:10:20] It's just an interview that they then added in a bunch of other interviews to fit into it.
[00:10:26] So, you know, it's no different than if...
[00:10:29] Well, Oprah does interview him in it too.
[00:10:32] Yeah, exactly.
[00:10:33] But it just...
[00:10:34] It doesn't explain a lot of stuff.
[00:10:36] Like there's stuff where they touch upon it and then it's like, where's the rest of the story?
[00:10:40] Yeah.
[00:10:40] And then it moves on to some musical number, which is great and amazing and it all looked great.
[00:10:44] Yeah.
[00:10:45] But I'm like, I'm frustrated because I'm actually looking to learn a few things here.
[00:10:51] Maybe you'll get to see a documentary.
[00:10:53] Because I'm not a Pharrell Williams aficionado.
[00:10:55] There you go.
[00:10:55] I knew he was a producer.
[00:10:57] I knew he produced a lot of popular music that I don't like, but...
[00:11:02] I only know one song he ever actually did.
[00:11:05] Yeah, you and everybody else.
[00:11:06] Happy!
[00:11:07] Yeah, which he got sued for.
[00:11:09] So that's the only thing I know about him.
[00:11:11] All right.
[00:11:12] Well, let me tell you a little bit about Piece by Piece.
[00:11:17] Just like his song, Happy.
[00:11:20] Mm-hmm.
[00:11:21] This is the way I felt through this film.
[00:11:24] Pharrell Williams is a force, and I mean force, in the music industry.
[00:11:30] A 4K.
[00:11:30] He has revolutionized what music in the hip-hop and pop world sounds like.
[00:11:38] It's no wonder that he would do the same for what a, and I'm putting in heavy quotes here,
[00:11:45] documentary about his life would look like.
[00:11:47] Oh, already.
[00:11:48] The fact they filmed interviews and then animated it in Lego, to me was so creative
[00:11:55] and kept me in a space of joy for this entire movie.
[00:11:59] I'm not saying that there's some things I found a little dissatisfied with, such as how Disney, everyone,
[00:12:06] and everything in this movie is.
[00:12:09] Mm-hmm.
[00:12:09] I mean, we get Snoop Dogg coming off in his heyday as a goody-goody nice guy.
[00:12:15] Yeah, which is-
[00:12:17] We get rated PG, or maybe it's even G, Doc, about a person that definitely worked with a lot of rated R artists.
[00:12:26] Yeah.
[00:12:27] But-
[00:12:27] Yeah.
[00:12:28] They actually said some naughty words in this.
[00:12:31] I don't think anybody said the fuck word.
[00:12:33] They didn't, but they said the poopy word.
[00:12:36] The poopy word?
[00:12:36] Yeah, well, that's not-
[00:12:37] That's-
[00:12:38] Hard to even swear word anymore.
[00:12:39] I mean-
[00:12:40] But when you're sitting in a theater full of eight-year-olds and six-year-olds-
[00:12:45] You don't think the eight and six-year-olds knew sugar honey iced tea from Madagascar?
[00:12:50] I don't even know what you're talking about.
[00:12:52] What's sugar honey iced tea?
[00:12:53] I don't know.
[00:12:53] That's what Chris Rock says when he's swearing.
[00:12:58] Uh-oh.
[00:12:58] He goes, sugar honey iced tea.
[00:13:01] And all six and eight-year-olds laugh at that too.
[00:13:04] Spell it out.
[00:13:06] I get it, but I don't get it.
[00:13:08] So that's what I'm saying is that even in Madagascar they're saying shit.
[00:13:11] I don't know.
[00:13:12] So there you have it.
[00:13:13] Eight-year-olds don't know who Pharrell Williams is either.
[00:13:15] Well, yes they would.
[00:13:17] But if you're Pharrell Williams, you can put out a doc about yourself the way you want it.
[00:13:23] Of course you can.
[00:13:23] I fully enjoyed this rated G version of his life, his music, and the message he wanted us to see.
[00:13:29] Okay.
[00:13:30] Even though this also had some Christian sprinklings in it, it did not try to convert me.
[00:13:36] So I felt so much joy because you know what?
[00:13:40] I was happy.
[00:13:44] I enjoyed it all.
[00:13:45] I was happy all the way through this movie.
[00:13:49] I really fully loved it.
[00:13:50] I liked the creativity that Pharrell has and his partner.
[00:13:57] Just brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant beats.
[00:14:00] I love the fact that we also know that he's got stores and stores of beats he hasn't even pulled out yet.
[00:14:07] And we're going to get to see them sometime.
[00:14:10] He's revolutionized hip hop.
[00:14:12] So.
[00:14:13] Well, and other genres as well.
[00:14:16] He's not strictly hip hop.
[00:14:17] That's right.
[00:14:20] So it was Mondo.
[00:14:21] It was okay.
[00:14:22] You Mondo'd that?
[00:14:22] Yeah.
[00:14:23] I loved it.
[00:14:24] I love Lego movies.
[00:14:25] By the way, I knew he was going to Mondo it.
[00:14:27] Yeah, because he.
[00:14:28] I did.
[00:14:28] As I was watching it, I was like, Jim's going to Mondo this.
[00:14:31] Oh, totally.
[00:14:31] I loved every single frame of this movie.
[00:14:34] I liked it a lot.
[00:14:36] Yeah.
[00:14:36] There we go.
[00:14:37] It's definitely worth watching.
[00:14:38] And it's, it's, I just, I don't know.
[00:14:41] I just fell short on the, on the facts.
[00:14:43] It's, it's, it's a Lego movie, which are not very deep.
[00:14:49] And you're going to just get sprinklings of who Pharrell Williams is and get to know who
[00:14:54] he is.
[00:14:54] So for someone who didn't know anything about him, you got to see a lot of people that he
[00:14:58] worked with.
[00:14:59] So you didn't have to look up anything.
[00:15:00] I mean, I pretty much knew everybody had worked with.
[00:15:03] That wasn't a surprise at all.
[00:15:04] Well, there you go.
[00:15:05] So this is maybe for Murray then.
[00:15:07] Murray liked animated films.
[00:15:08] If I went to cartoons, which I don't.
[00:15:10] That's right.
[00:15:10] Right.
[00:15:11] Especially not anything that where there might be kids in the audience.
[00:15:14] Oh man.
[00:15:15] Were there a bunch of kids in your, cause not one kid.
[00:15:17] Holy poop.
[00:15:17] Cause I went to the late, I went to the late show yesterday.
[00:15:19] I went to the afternoon and there was, it was wall to wall kids.
[00:15:22] I went to the 915 showing.
[00:15:23] And they, they were bored to tears.
[00:15:26] So if you've got a kid, do not take it.
[00:15:27] Take, but if you, if you look at it, if you enjoy animation.
[00:15:31] Unless your kid is a Pharrell Williams fan, which could very possibly be.
[00:15:35] It doesn't matter.
[00:15:36] It doesn't matter.
[00:15:37] It's not Lego Batman.
[00:15:39] Unless your kid.
[00:15:39] This is not their typical Lego movie.
[00:15:41] Unless your kid's like, I'd say that the threshold for a kid sitting through this and
[00:15:45] not just absolutely.
[00:15:46] Would you say 10?
[00:15:47] I would say 12.
[00:15:48] 12.
[00:15:49] Okay.
[00:15:49] All right.
[00:15:51] So the apprentice.
[00:15:54] Okay.
[00:15:55] What's that?
[00:15:56] From moment one.
[00:15:58] It's a TV show, Bryce.
[00:15:59] Where it is also TV.
[00:16:01] It was a TV show.
[00:16:02] Also starring Donald Trump.
[00:16:04] Yes.
[00:16:05] So for moment one, where Trump meets Roy Cohen, I didn't buy anything in this.
[00:16:11] They were trying to sell us with this agenda.
[00:16:14] It's a U S made biopic.
[00:16:18] That's normally all you need to know how this is going to be.
[00:16:23] Yes.
[00:16:24] There are some things in this that actually did happen.
[00:16:27] I mean, I have seen a lot of docs about this person throughout the years, but none of this
[00:16:34] made me feel any of it was real or how they show Trump and Cohen's relationship made no sense
[00:16:42] from moment one and how it progressed.
[00:16:44] Also didn't make any sense.
[00:16:45] They give nothing of substance or truth to all the real events that happen in Trump's
[00:16:51] life.
[00:16:51] Just things that fit this agenda.
[00:16:55] This was just Trump's version without the Christianity conversion that we saw a month ago from Reagan.
[00:17:04] Basically the same movie.
[00:17:06] People who made it had an agenda, had an agenda and I wanted to spell it out.
[00:17:11] They didn't give any other details.
[00:17:12] The only thing I liked about this film was Jeremy Strong's performance as, as Roy Cohen.
[00:17:17] That's what I hear.
[00:17:18] And Sebastian Stan did a pretty good job of Donald Trump.
[00:17:21] And actually, as he progressed through the movie, he became more of the Donald Trump that
[00:17:26] we, that we know.
[00:17:27] Yeah.
[00:17:28] So, I mean, from what I can see, basically they're blaming this guy, Roy for making Trump the way
[00:17:37] he is.
[00:17:38] And I think he probably has some of that already.
[00:17:40] Well, they didn't, I didn't feel any of that from this movie.
[00:17:44] Well, otherwise.
[00:17:45] His three rules or whatever he got right from Roy Cohn.
[00:17:49] Yeah.
[00:17:49] Well, again, how would we know?
[00:17:52] Because Roy Cohn, did Roy Cohn write a book about it?
[00:17:54] I don't know.
[00:17:55] Who would know?
[00:17:55] So, otherwise, sitting through this.
[00:17:59] That's been documented in the past.
[00:18:01] I read something at some point.
[00:18:02] Oh, well then you read it.
[00:18:03] It had to be true.
[00:18:04] Otherwise, sitting through this was painful, mostly boring and missing way too many things
[00:18:09] to be worthwhile to even watch.
[00:18:12] Unless you just want a reason to dislike Donald Trump.
[00:18:16] Even more.
[00:18:17] He can do that all on his own.
[00:18:18] You don't need this movie.
[00:18:20] Yeah.
[00:18:20] Try just making a better movie next time.
[00:18:22] This was horrible.
[00:18:23] I hated this film as a rage.
[00:18:25] All right.
[00:18:26] Yeah.
[00:18:26] I mean, the performances were good.
[00:18:28] It's the thing that frustrated me the most about this movie is it was just starting
[00:18:33] to get interesting as he was going through the 70s.
[00:18:37] And then all of a sudden we skip ahead a decade and we all of a sudden he's kind of a different
[00:18:41] person.
[00:18:42] Yeah.
[00:18:43] Like from one scene to the next.
[00:18:44] And it wasn't even like a smooth transition.
[00:18:46] It was just like all of a sudden bang.
[00:18:47] They showed us a few clips.
[00:18:48] It's like, oh, okay.
[00:18:49] We're in the middle of the 80s now.
[00:18:51] Yeah.
[00:18:51] And.
[00:18:52] But if the whole movie is like that.
[00:18:54] And this guy isn't even the same person as the first half of the movie.
[00:18:57] I actually really liked the first half of the movie.
[00:18:59] And if would have kept on progressing that way, that would be great.
[00:19:04] I didn't.
[00:19:04] Okay.
[00:19:05] So I did not.
[00:19:06] There was nothing in them meeting in when Roy met Donald Trump.
[00:19:11] There was nothing in that scene or anything that when they're interacting that made me
[00:19:16] think what Roy Cohen saw in Donald Trump.
[00:19:19] There was nothing there.
[00:19:21] They didn't show anything.
[00:19:22] They kind of alluded that he saw a handsome young man.
[00:19:26] Yeah.
[00:19:26] That was what.
[00:19:27] Yeah.
[00:19:28] There was like.
[00:19:29] That's not a.
[00:19:30] That's not a reason why you pull him in.
[00:19:32] Not enough to take him under his wing.
[00:19:33] And they.
[00:19:34] Yeah.
[00:19:35] As I say, I'm not sure exactly.
[00:19:37] Okay.
[00:19:38] Anyway, keep talking about this movie.
[00:19:40] I keep going.
[00:19:41] I didn't.
[00:19:42] At the end of the day, I didn't hate it.
[00:19:44] You know, I thought it was uneven.
[00:19:46] I didn't like the back half as much as I liked the first half.
[00:19:53] And.
[00:19:54] Um.
[00:19:55] It was meh.
[00:19:57] That's it.
[00:19:58] It was meh.
[00:19:59] For what?
[00:19:59] How did you feel any of this?
[00:20:01] Like they didn't.
[00:20:02] To your point about.
[00:20:03] For out.
[00:20:04] At least in the Pharrell Williams movie.
[00:20:07] There was things about it to like.
[00:20:08] There was nothing in this.
[00:20:09] They cut everything out.
[00:20:11] You know.
[00:20:11] That Jeremy Strong's performance as Roy Cohn was very good.
[00:20:14] He was fantastic.
[00:20:15] But this movie is horrible.
[00:20:17] To be honest.
[00:20:17] Everybody in this was good.
[00:20:19] And I understand your.
[00:20:20] Your.
[00:20:20] Your problems with the movie.
[00:20:22] And I had problems with it as well.
[00:20:24] But it wasn't horrible.
[00:20:26] It's.
[00:20:26] I hated.
[00:20:27] I'm not.
[00:20:28] I hated everything about this movie.
[00:20:30] Like.
[00:20:30] From the moment he met Donald Trump.
[00:20:33] I'm like.
[00:20:34] What is.
[00:20:34] This scene.
[00:20:35] What is making Roy Cohn.
[00:20:37] Who at the time.
[00:20:38] Was like.
[00:20:39] The most powerful lawyer in New York City.
[00:20:42] He was a judge wasn't he?
[00:20:42] No he's a lawyer.
[00:20:44] Yeah.
[00:20:44] So he's like the most powerful.
[00:20:46] Lawyer.
[00:20:47] He's.
[00:20:47] He's.
[00:20:48] They are at this private club.
[00:20:50] And the whole private club is that Donald Trump was allowed to join.
[00:20:55] This private club.
[00:20:56] With.
[00:20:57] You know.
[00:20:58] I guess based on his name or whoever the case.
[00:21:00] Plus.
[00:21:01] They.
[00:21:01] They showed Donald Trump's dad.
[00:21:03] As if he's like some.
[00:21:05] Loser has been through the movie.
[00:21:07] And Donald Trump's father was quite a predominant.
[00:21:11] Real estate mogul in New York.
[00:21:13] But they didn't just.
[00:21:14] They didn't portray him as that at all.
[00:21:16] So.
[00:21:16] There's so many things in this that isn't real.
[00:21:19] About the real.
[00:21:20] And they don't tell.
[00:21:21] Again.
[00:21:21] They take all the stuff about it that.
[00:21:24] Joins any of this together.
[00:21:25] And just gloss over it all.
[00:21:27] Because they just want you to.
[00:21:28] At the end of this movie to hate Donald Trump.
[00:21:31] That's what they want.
[00:21:32] That's the agenda.
[00:21:33] This movie's made.
[00:21:34] Is to just hate Donald Trump.
[00:21:35] Without having any real.
[00:21:39] Connectivity to any of it.
[00:21:41] I didn't feel any scene was like.
[00:21:42] As I say.
[00:21:43] It just didn't seem.
[00:21:44] From what really happened.
[00:21:44] It wasn't a complete movie for me.
[00:21:46] But it wasn't terrible.
[00:21:47] I.
[00:21:48] It was fine.
[00:21:49] I didn't.
[00:21:50] I didn't hate it.
[00:21:51] Well.
[00:21:52] I feel you should have.
[00:21:55] I'm not going to recommend it to anybody.
[00:21:56] If someone says.
[00:21:57] Should I watch.
[00:21:57] The apprentice.
[00:21:58] I'll go.
[00:21:59] Probably not.
[00:22:00] Watch season two.
[00:22:02] There you go.
[00:22:03] Of.
[00:22:03] What's that?
[00:22:04] What's season two?
[00:22:05] Watch the celebrity ones.
[00:22:06] Yeah.
[00:22:07] Watch the celebrity ones.
[00:22:07] Because you see very little of Donald Trump in those.
[00:22:10] Yeah.
[00:22:10] The ones with.
[00:22:11] Like at the very end.
[00:22:12] You fire somebody.
[00:22:13] The one with Cyndi Loper in it.
[00:22:14] For the first 90 minutes.
[00:22:15] It's all about the celebrities.
[00:22:17] Yeah.
[00:22:17] The one with Cyndi Loper in it.
[00:22:19] I don't know.
[00:22:19] There's a bunch of them.
[00:22:21] Latoya Jackson.
[00:22:22] Yeah.
[00:22:23] Anyway.
[00:22:24] That one.
[00:22:25] Yeah.
[00:22:25] All right.
[00:22:26] Speaking of Victoria Jackson.
[00:22:28] Yeah.
[00:22:29] Speaking of Victoria Jackson.
[00:22:31] Yes.
[00:22:31] Not Victoria.
[00:22:32] Latoya.
[00:22:34] Latoya Jackson.
[00:22:35] Oh, I thought you said Victoria Jackson.
[00:22:37] See.
[00:22:37] No Latoya.
[00:22:38] He was.
[00:22:38] He was doing.
[00:22:39] He's doing a seg.
[00:22:41] But yeah.
[00:22:42] Latoya Jackson.
[00:22:44] Latoya Jackson.
[00:22:44] She was on The Apprentice.
[00:22:46] She was.
[00:22:47] Was Victoria Jackson on The Apprentice?
[00:22:48] No.
[00:22:49] Oh.
[00:22:49] Victoria Jackson was not.
[00:22:50] I wouldn't know.
[00:22:51] I thought, oh.
[00:22:52] You said Victoria Jackson was on The Apprentice.
[00:22:54] No, I said Latoya Jackson.
[00:22:56] Whatever.
[00:22:57] Look it up.
[00:22:58] All right.
[00:22:58] So we're going to talk about Saturday nights.
[00:23:01] All right.
[00:23:02] For fighting.
[00:23:03] It's not the song I would go with.
[00:23:04] Get a little action in.
[00:23:07] Live from New York.
[00:23:09] You know the rest.
[00:23:10] I do.
[00:23:11] This latest film from Ivan Reitman's Little Bunch.
[00:23:14] Boy Jason.
[00:23:15] Tells the story of Lorne Michaels and the original cast of Saturday Night Live.
[00:23:20] In the 90 minutes leading up to the first ever broadcast of the now iconic show.
[00:23:27] Chevy Chase.
[00:23:29] Dan Aykroyd.
[00:23:30] John Belushi.
[00:23:31] Jane Curtin.
[00:23:32] Gilda Radner.
[00:23:33] Billy Crystal.
[00:23:35] Andy Kaufman.
[00:23:37] Garrett Morris.
[00:23:38] Before they were famous.
[00:23:41] Once again, I find myself issuing a disclaimer.
[00:23:45] Uh oh.
[00:23:45] This film isn't for everyone.
[00:23:48] What?
[00:23:48] For starters, you have to actually watch the show.
[00:23:52] Either the original cast or any of the versions that came afterwards.
[00:23:56] I disagree.
[00:23:57] To really appreciate it.
[00:23:58] I disagree.
[00:23:58] Uh.
[00:23:59] It also helps if you actually like to see how TV shows are done.
[00:24:02] And it especially helps if you worked in the broadcast television industry like me.
[00:24:09] I don't know how accurate this film is.
[00:24:11] I don't care.
[00:24:13] Cast members fighting.
[00:24:15] Guest hosts like George Carlin flipping out and high on coke.
[00:24:20] Uh.
[00:24:20] Technical issues.
[00:24:21] A llama that nobody seems to remember ordering.
[00:24:25] Uh.
[00:24:26] Network executives standing by to watch them all fail.
[00:24:30] TV legend Milton Berle.
[00:24:32] Played perfectly by J.K. Simmons.
[00:24:35] Being a general pain in the ass dickhead.
[00:24:38] This film had it all.
[00:24:39] I really loved the chaotic and frantic shooting style that Light Reitman used.
[00:24:44] Uh.
[00:24:44] Similar to Birdman.
[00:24:46] Uh.
[00:24:47] There was so much going on you didn't know where to look.
[00:24:49] Uh.
[00:24:50] It was also a challenge to keep all the characters straight with the fresh paces that are playing them.
[00:24:56] Uh.
[00:24:57] Uh.
[00:24:57] I enjoyed every minute of it.
[00:24:58] Of course.
[00:24:59] It was a freaking mondo.
[00:25:00] All right.
[00:25:02] So.
[00:25:02] I'm guessing you guys disagree.
[00:25:04] Well.
[00:25:04] You never know.
[00:25:05] You're gonna find out.
[00:25:07] So.
[00:25:08] So.
[00:25:09] Not since 1978.
[00:25:13] 1978.
[00:25:14] Dawn of the Dead.
[00:25:15] Oh.
[00:25:16] Opening scene of a TV station.
[00:25:18] Have I seen.
[00:25:20] Have I seen.
[00:25:21] As manic a beginning for a depiction of a TV show.
[00:25:24] As a million and one things are happening all.
[00:25:28] At once.
[00:25:30] Yet all.
[00:25:31] In organized or perhaps unorganized chaos.
[00:25:34] Reitman really grasps the whole concept.
[00:25:37] Of what this moment in time must have felt like.
[00:25:40] The timing.
[00:25:42] The comedic timing.
[00:25:43] And quick dialogue that you need to be continually listening to.
[00:25:49] To make sure you don't miss anything.
[00:25:51] Is rapid fire.
[00:25:53] And for many many minutes at a time.
[00:25:56] And then.
[00:25:57] You'll get a break.
[00:25:58] To showcase one of the amazing original cast members.
[00:26:01] Of this iconic TV show.
[00:26:02] On top of that.
[00:26:03] We get to see behind the curtain.
[00:26:05] On some of showbiz's biggest people.
[00:26:09] In NBC.
[00:26:10] Be them.
[00:26:11] A happy look.
[00:26:12] Or.
[00:26:13] A detrimental look.
[00:26:15] Like.
[00:26:16] In particular.
[00:26:17] Uncle Miltie.
[00:26:18] Uncle Miltie.
[00:26:18] And his 11 inch penis.
[00:26:19] Or.
[00:26:20] John Belushi's prima donna-ism.
[00:26:22] Perhaps.
[00:26:23] It's my great fondest.
[00:26:25] For the not ready for primetime players.
[00:26:27] Or it's Reitman's brilliance.
[00:26:29] But I freaking love this movie.
[00:26:32] It was Mondo.
[00:26:33] I got a couple things to unpack.
[00:26:35] But yeah.
[00:26:35] No.
[00:26:35] This film.
[00:26:37] And I would agree with Bryce on this.
[00:26:39] I don't think people have to have.
[00:26:41] No.
[00:26:42] Have any care about watching a TV show.
[00:26:44] This is.
[00:26:45] In fact.
[00:26:46] I think.
[00:26:46] I.
[00:26:47] In my opinion.
[00:26:48] If you knew nothing going in.
[00:26:49] You're going to enjoy this more.
[00:26:51] Because we know the outcome.
[00:26:53] Yeah.
[00:26:53] If you know nothing about it.
[00:26:55] And you start watching this.
[00:26:55] You wouldn't have a clue what actually happened.
[00:26:57] And you're like.
[00:26:57] Is this show going to go on?
[00:26:58] Yeah.
[00:26:58] Yeah.
[00:26:59] It's like if you've never heard of the show.
[00:27:00] And the fact that Ivan Reitman is able to keep that tension up for 90 minutes.
[00:27:06] Do you mean Jason?
[00:27:07] Well, Jason.
[00:27:07] Because Ivan's kidding.
[00:27:08] Sorry.
[00:27:09] Ivan was keeping the tension.
[00:27:10] Jason Reitman.
[00:27:11] Sorry.
[00:27:13] In serious.
[00:27:13] Jason Reitman.
[00:27:14] It might be on the original.
[00:27:16] It was able.
[00:27:16] It was able to keep the tension up for 90 minutes.
[00:27:19] Oh.
[00:27:19] When we absolutely know what the outcome is at the end.
[00:27:22] Is amazing.
[00:27:24] And it is.
[00:27:24] You can cut it with a knife in.
[00:27:26] In minute three.
[00:27:27] In minute 47.
[00:27:29] In minute 86.
[00:27:31] Yep.
[00:27:31] Through this whole thing.
[00:27:33] It's just.
[00:27:33] It is unrelenting.
[00:27:35] Tension.
[00:27:36] Tension.
[00:27:37] Tension.
[00:27:38] Quick cuts.
[00:27:39] We're going everywhere.
[00:27:40] It's frantic.
[00:27:41] And it doesn't lose steam.
[00:27:43] Not one second.
[00:27:44] The fact that this can go 90 minutes and not lose steam at all.
[00:27:50] There are no down times in this movie.
[00:27:52] No.
[00:27:52] There is no lull.
[00:27:54] This is just bang, bam, bam.
[00:27:56] Hitting beats.
[00:27:57] Boom, boom, boom.
[00:27:58] And every single beat is entertaining.
[00:28:01] Every single beat is just full of actors that are just giving it their all.
[00:28:07] Every single beat is so much fun.
[00:28:13] Jason Reitman needs to do more stuff like this.
[00:28:15] Yeah.
[00:28:16] He needs to forget about.
[00:28:17] Ghostbusters.
[00:28:18] Ghostbusters.
[00:28:19] Crapbusters.
[00:28:20] And doing.
[00:28:20] He does though.
[00:28:22] This is what he needs to do.
[00:28:24] He's done a lot of great films.
[00:28:25] Because he is a filmmaker.
[00:28:26] He's a great filmmaker.
[00:28:27] This shows it.
[00:28:28] I wasn't convinced until I watched this.
[00:28:31] I thought he was pretty good.
[00:28:33] He made some quirky stuff that I liked in the past.
[00:28:36] This is genius.
[00:28:38] I absolutely love this movie.
[00:28:40] I've never seen such a pace that doesn't lose steam.
[00:28:45] How often do you go into like a comedy that just.
[00:28:49] And this.
[00:28:49] I mean.
[00:28:50] This is a comedy.
[00:28:52] Yeah.
[00:28:52] And it's funny through the whole thing.
[00:28:54] But yeah.
[00:28:55] And it literally doesn't lose a beat.
[00:28:57] Yeah.
[00:28:57] It does not lull at all.
[00:29:00] Love this movie.
[00:29:01] It was Mondo.
[00:29:01] Yeah.
[00:29:02] The.
[00:29:03] You know.
[00:29:04] It's interesting because afterwards I kind of did look up what kind of was and wasn't.
[00:29:09] And the.
[00:29:10] And what I think Reitman did well in this is that.
[00:29:14] For example.
[00:29:15] The fight between Belushi.
[00:29:17] Yeah.
[00:29:17] And Chevy.
[00:29:18] Didn't happen on opening night.
[00:29:19] But there was their tension through the entire.
[00:29:21] So he captured moments.
[00:29:23] Yeah.
[00:29:23] I think he took like the first season.
[00:29:26] Yeah.
[00:29:26] And kind of push some of the stuff into like that nine.
[00:29:29] Yeah.
[00:29:29] He did.
[00:29:30] He took the essence of.
[00:29:32] That's what I'm saying is that he took the essence of the characters and we got a real
[00:29:35] feel for it just like you know Belushi didn't do all the things that he did on that first
[00:29:40] night.
[00:29:41] But but and the same thing with Milti Milti wasn't even there.
[00:29:44] But the fact that Milti was part of NBC.
[00:29:48] Well.
[00:29:49] And he was on the way out.
[00:29:51] He did host the show.
[00:29:51] He did host the show later on.
[00:29:53] Yeah.
[00:29:54] But.
[00:29:54] What's the worst host they've ever had.
[00:29:56] They've ever had.
[00:29:58] And the fact that there's multiple people.
[00:30:02] Multiple people.
[00:30:03] Yeah.
[00:30:03] That have said he pulled his dick out all the time.
[00:30:06] Oh yeah.
[00:30:06] So it's like there's you know the fact that they put all that in there like like it actually
[00:30:12] literally shocked me when he pulled his dick out because I'm kind of like this is Uncle
[00:30:17] Milti what's happening right now.
[00:30:19] I knew about Uncle Uncle Milti going in.
[00:30:22] I knew something was gonna.
[00:30:24] There's gonna be some penis coming out at some point when Uncle Milti was in this.
[00:30:28] I knew it for a fact.
[00:30:29] I guess if you got it flaunted.
[00:30:31] Yeah.
[00:30:32] Yeah.
[00:30:33] Yeah.
[00:30:34] Yeah.
[00:30:34] I wouldn't wear pants if I had an 11 inch penis.
[00:30:36] So.
[00:30:37] There you go.
[00:30:38] And on that note.
[00:30:39] Yeah.
[00:30:40] Speaking of.
[00:30:40] Speaking of terrifying.
[00:30:42] I'm happy you guys liked it.
[00:30:43] Yeah.
[00:30:45] Ah.
[00:30:46] Yeah.
[00:30:47] Terrifier three.
[00:30:49] Yeah.
[00:30:50] Let's see.
[00:30:53] Oh.
[00:30:54] Oh.
[00:30:55] Oh.
[00:30:55] That's right.
[00:30:56] It's a Christmas movie.
[00:30:57] Yeah.
[00:30:57] That's.
[00:30:57] And we all saw this.
[00:30:59] Art the Clown.
[00:31:00] It's a.
[00:31:01] Instead of a Halloween massacre.
[00:31:03] This time it's a kind of a Christmas massacre.
[00:31:05] Um.
[00:31:06] This is one of those movies where.
[00:31:08] A lot of this.
[00:31:09] A lot of things happen.
[00:31:11] And I'm not sure why they happen.
[00:31:13] And they're not really connected to anything.
[00:31:15] And there's a lot of blanks that aren't filled in.
[00:31:18] And who cares.
[00:31:19] You know.
[00:31:20] It's like.
[00:31:22] The kills are inventive.
[00:31:24] There's so much.
[00:31:26] Ridiculous.
[00:31:26] Gory fun.
[00:31:28] The.
[00:31:28] The practical effects are fantastic.
[00:31:31] Um.
[00:31:32] What's the.
[00:31:32] What's the dude that plays Art the Clown.
[00:31:34] What's his name.
[00:31:34] I don't know.
[00:31:35] Good old Art.
[00:31:36] Uh.
[00:31:37] David Howard Thornton.
[00:31:38] Yep.
[00:31:39] He's.
[00:31:40] Just genius in this.
[00:31:41] Like.
[00:31:42] He is.
[00:31:42] So good as Art the Clown.
[00:31:45] I want to see him in other stuff.
[00:31:47] Because.
[00:31:47] I know this guy can act.
[00:31:49] Because I'm watching Art the Clown.
[00:31:50] And it's freaking amazing.
[00:31:54] Yep.
[00:31:57] Here's the thing.
[00:31:58] It's over two hours long.
[00:32:00] Yes.
[00:32:01] And it.
[00:32:02] It does not need to be over two hours long.
[00:32:04] This is.
[00:32:05] I was thinking too.
[00:32:06] This is just like.
[00:32:07] The.
[00:32:07] The last one.
[00:32:08] The last one could have been brilliant too.
[00:32:10] Well the last one was two and a half hours long.
[00:32:12] So.
[00:32:13] He.
[00:32:14] He's so close.
[00:32:16] To be.
[00:32:17] To making a perfect film.
[00:32:18] Damien Leone is so close.
[00:32:20] To getting this right.
[00:32:23] But.
[00:32:23] He hasn't yet.
[00:32:25] It's too long.
[00:32:27] And.
[00:32:28] He's got to write better dialogue.
[00:32:30] I realize this is campy fun.
[00:32:32] But the dialogue's terrible.
[00:32:34] Of course.
[00:32:34] And it's gotta be better.
[00:32:36] There's.
[00:32:36] There's so.
[00:32:37] There's still room for improvement.
[00:32:38] And.
[00:32:39] This is.
[00:32:40] One of those cases where.
[00:32:41] If I took a little bit of Terrifier one.
[00:32:43] And a little bit of Terrifier two.
[00:32:44] And a little bit of Terrifier three.
[00:32:46] And I mushed them together.
[00:32:47] And I made it 90 minutes.
[00:32:49] It would be one of the greatest.
[00:32:50] Slasher horror movies ever.
[00:32:52] Yeah.
[00:32:53] But.
[00:32:54] That's not what we're doing.
[00:32:56] That's not what we're doing.
[00:32:56] And it's.
[00:32:57] It's too long.
[00:32:58] The dialogue's clunky.
[00:33:00] It doesn't have to be.
[00:33:02] I.
[00:33:02] I'm not looking for.
[00:33:04] The.
[00:33:04] I realize what this is.
[00:33:06] But the dialogue doesn't have to be that clunky either.
[00:33:09] It can still be semi-intelligent.
[00:33:11] I love this movie.
[00:33:12] I really did.
[00:33:14] But it's too long.
[00:33:15] And it.
[00:33:16] There are lulls in it.
[00:33:17] And it's got.
[00:33:18] There's no reason why this can't be rapid fire.
[00:33:21] Art the clown.
[00:33:22] Doing his thing.
[00:33:23] He's killing everybody.
[00:33:24] A little bit of character development on the people that he's.
[00:33:26] You know terrorizing in between.
[00:33:28] That's fine.
[00:33:28] But it's got to be about art the clown more than anything.
[00:33:32] And.
[00:33:32] It's also got to be.
[00:33:34] 90 minutes.
[00:33:35] 90 minutes.
[00:33:36] I'm thinking.
[00:33:37] 87 minutes.
[00:33:38] Is where this needs to be.
[00:33:40] 88.
[00:33:41] Maybe.
[00:33:42] Slash it under 90 minutes.
[00:33:43] There's a lot of fat that could have been trimmed off this.
[00:33:46] And it would have been so much better.
[00:33:48] Really liked it.
[00:33:49] I'm looking forward to terrifier for.
[00:33:51] Cause I really think that.
[00:33:52] Leo.
[00:33:53] He's so close.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:54] He's so close.
[00:33:56] He needs to make one for.
[00:33:58] Cause I know he can do it.
[00:34:00] I know he can make the perfect slasher movie.
[00:34:02] There's no.
[00:34:02] And this character.
[00:34:04] Is the one to do it.
[00:34:05] There's no.
[00:34:06] Chances isn't getting a four.
[00:34:08] Of course.
[00:34:09] Yeah.
[00:34:09] There's no chance.
[00:34:10] So.
[00:34:11] I absolutely loved it.
[00:34:13] But it's not Mondo.
[00:34:14] Cause there's just too much.
[00:34:18] Amateurish stuff.
[00:34:19] And.
[00:34:20] It's can't be.
[00:34:21] I'm sorry.
[00:34:21] It can't be over two hours long.
[00:34:23] It's a slasher movie.
[00:34:24] You can't make a two hours.
[00:34:25] Slasher movie.
[00:34:26] That's what killed two.
[00:34:28] Yeah.
[00:34:28] All right.
[00:34:28] Marwell.
[00:34:29] This is your first terrifier experience.
[00:34:31] Uh, I'm glad I got to next.
[00:34:33] I had to tell the story.
[00:34:35] Uh, anybody who follows our socials knows.
[00:34:39] What's a social social media stuff that Jim does.
[00:34:42] What's that?
[00:34:43] Uh, Jim and I saw this while we were visiting the sleepy mountain town of Banff over the weekend.
[00:34:48] Banff.
[00:34:48] Puh, puh, puh.
[00:34:49] It's an old style theater, which hasn't changed since the last time I was there in 1989.
[00:34:56] Nope.
[00:34:57] Uh, when we got there, the young and very cute Irish lass who checked our tickets handed us some empty popcorn bags.
[00:35:04] I thought, Oh, there's a do it yourself popcorn machine somewhere.
[00:35:08] Yeah.
[00:35:08] We getting free popcorn.
[00:35:09] What's going on?
[00:35:10] Sweet.
[00:35:11] But she indicated that they were in case we needed to vomit.
[00:35:17] That's pretty cool.
[00:35:18] Apparently this film was so gross is making people sick.
[00:35:23] Like Jim said, they don't know us very well.
[00:35:27] I have not seen the terrifier films and didn't know what to expect.
[00:35:31] It was certainly gross and bloody though.
[00:35:34] I wouldn't really call it terrifying.
[00:35:37] Uh, with some very ingenious kills.
[00:35:39] Art the clown almost made me like clowns again.
[00:35:43] Almost.
[00:35:44] He's so good.
[00:35:45] He was hilarious.
[00:35:46] The problem for me was the continuing story from the previous films, which I just couldn't follow.
[00:35:51] Well, you don't need to.
[00:35:52] Yeah, you kind of do.
[00:35:54] There's no story.
[00:35:55] I didn't get the whole premise.
[00:35:56] Story is not where this is.
[00:35:57] I get the killing people, but the whole thing at the end with the, the, the hell portal and the angels and I don't know, I didn't get any of that.
[00:36:06] That's all new, man.
[00:36:08] Yeah, that's, that's new.
[00:36:09] But yeah, I thought if it's just a guy, you know, tormenting this poor family.
[00:36:13] Yeah, I get that part.
[00:36:15] But then they threw a bunch of stuff in the second one in.
[00:36:17] I was just happy to see Clint Howard.
[00:36:20] Yeah.
[00:36:20] Always happy to see Clint Howard.
[00:36:21] And that guy you like, whatever his name was.
[00:36:24] Yep.
[00:36:24] Yeah, that guy.
[00:36:25] Tom Savini.
[00:36:26] It was a fun movie.
[00:36:27] Tom Savini had a little cameo.
[00:36:28] He was a bloody good man.
[00:36:30] Nice.
[00:36:31] All right.
[00:36:32] So that's, I didn't hate it.
[00:36:33] That's two mez.
[00:36:35] That's right.
[00:36:35] Yes.
[00:36:35] I was so close to, if it just wasn't so bloody long.
[00:36:38] Yeah, it was too long.
[00:36:39] All right.
[00:36:40] Well, let me tell you a little bit.
[00:36:41] Well, actually, I'm going to tell you a lot of bit of what I thought of Terrifier 3.
[00:36:44] Go ahead.
[00:36:46] So first off, Art the Clown at Christmas.
[00:36:53] Genius.
[00:36:53] Genius.
[00:36:54] What the fuck?
[00:36:55] It's a Christmas movie in October.
[00:36:57] Yeah.
[00:36:58] That should be your rage this week.
[00:37:01] Yeah.
[00:37:01] Who says it's not?
[00:37:03] We should have been releasing Christmas movies in October.
[00:37:04] Who says it's not?
[00:37:06] So close to Halloween.
[00:37:07] Well, okay.
[00:37:08] So I guess whatever Art the Clown wants, Art the Clown gets.
[00:37:13] True.
[00:37:13] I'm surprised it didn't come out in the summer though, with the other blockbusters.
[00:37:18] Because this film killed everything at the box office this weekend.
[00:37:24] Just like our clowny little clown.
[00:37:26] Even that other movie with the clown in it.
[00:37:28] Yeah.
[00:37:29] There was one.
[00:37:30] So many clowny movies.
[00:37:33] So we pick up with Sienna.
[00:37:35] Oh, joker.
[00:37:36] We pick up with Sienna and Jonathan five years later.
[00:37:39] And after Art the Clown does some killing of a Santa and a few other people.
[00:37:46] And some random family.
[00:37:46] Which I totally didn't understand who they were and why they were in it at all.
[00:37:52] They do not shy away from killing kids.
[00:37:54] No.
[00:37:55] That's the best thing about it.
[00:37:56] But also, including, that's right, Murray's favorite director's brother.
[00:38:03] Yes.
[00:38:03] That is true.
[00:38:05] Clint.
[00:38:06] All right.
[00:38:06] Let's catch up.
[00:38:07] All right.
[00:38:08] With our survivors from the last movie.
[00:38:11] Yes.
[00:38:11] Unfortunately.
[00:38:13] So Jonathan is at school and Sienna is hanging with her cousin, aunt and uncle.
[00:38:18] And we get way too much story about these two again.
[00:38:21] That seems to draw on for way too much time.
[00:38:26] Yep.
[00:38:26] All the while, Art was frozen in time for the past five years.
[00:38:30] For whatever reason, who knows?
[00:38:31] Who cares?
[00:38:32] So yeah, Art and his girlfriend are frozen for some reason.
[00:38:36] We don't know why, but then we go back to blah, blah, blah, blah, more boring, badly acted story by Sienna and her family.
[00:38:45] His girlfriend is awesome.
[00:38:46] Yeah.
[00:38:47] She's the best.
[00:38:48] When, when what we needed was more art giving us the torture porn we have come to know and love.
[00:38:54] Like Santa at the bar.
[00:38:57] Santa's scalping mommy under the mistletoe.
[00:39:00] Santa blowing up kids at photo shoot at the mall.
[00:39:03] At the Santa's workshop at the mall.
[00:39:05] Taking a group shower at the frat house and making blood angels.
[00:39:10] And fun with rats.
[00:39:12] Yeah.
[00:39:13] But then we get so much blah, blah, blah, black story, blah, backstory.
[00:39:21] Yeah.
[00:39:21] Put a little bit too much blah in that backstory.
[00:39:24] Um, yeah.
[00:39:26] And then more blah, blah, blah, blah, returning characters.
[00:39:29] Just like the terrifier too.
[00:39:30] This needed a bit of editing.
[00:39:33] I'm going to say a bit of editing, but I'm, I'm thinking it's more like a lot of editing.
[00:39:38] Just like the perfect length for a documentary is 77 minutes.
[00:39:41] The perfect amount of time for a slasher.
[00:39:44] I can tell you one thing I know about that.
[00:39:46] It is not over two hours.
[00:39:48] No matter how fun art, the clown is making us laugh at his murder sprees and man, this amps up the gore over the first two.
[00:39:59] And those two were known to be like top of the heap for, for, yeah.
[00:40:04] In fact, as Marie's already said, we got barf bags.
[00:40:09] So we were happy.
[00:40:11] And every time something really gory would have on the screen, I'd pass Maria barf bag.
[00:40:16] Nice.
[00:40:18] It was not necessary.
[00:40:20] Yeah.
[00:40:20] By the way.
[00:40:21] Yeah.
[00:40:22] So this is also a man for me because the story they are trying to tell is boring has characters that their stories go nowhere, including Jonathan, which character seems like they were making this movie.
[00:40:36] And then after the fact, they say, Hey, you know what?
[00:40:39] We forgot that there was a brother in here.
[00:40:41] We should probably add him into the movie.
[00:40:43] Oh, yeah.
[00:40:44] And then, so we better add him back in.
[00:40:48] But, you know, just don't do it too long.
[00:40:51] Let's just add him in for some reason.
[00:40:53] Yeah.
[00:40:53] For like three scenes.
[00:40:54] And then he disappears later and like, whatever.
[00:40:57] Maybe he died.
[00:40:58] I don't, I still don't know.
[00:41:00] I don't know if that was him or not.
[00:41:01] A lot of stuff just doesn't matter.
[00:41:03] But as I say, I don't need, I don't need blanks filled in.
[00:41:07] I don't, I just need more art, the clown.
[00:41:09] They should just made a whole new story.
[00:41:10] But with art, the clown.
[00:41:12] Yeah.
[00:41:12] I almost cares about the old family.
[00:41:14] Just start fresh.
[00:41:15] I'm okay with the girlfriend though.
[00:41:16] Yeah.
[00:41:16] Yeah.
[00:41:17] Because we do learn in this one.
[00:41:19] They need, they need art, the clown to like, just go somewhere else.
[00:41:22] That's what I mean.
[00:41:23] Start with a new, start with a new family.
[00:41:25] Get on a bus.
[00:41:26] Yeah.
[00:41:27] Well, he did.
[00:41:27] Get to a new town.
[00:41:28] He's going to a new town.
[00:41:30] That's exactly what's going to be in for.
[00:41:31] Maybe Terrifier 4 will be a brand new family.
[00:41:33] Yeah.
[00:41:33] I hope so.
[00:41:34] But the cool thing about it, you know, there is a couple of cool things about it.
[00:41:38] So his girlfriend.
[00:41:39] Yeah.
[00:41:39] Is a devil or a demon.
[00:41:46] Yes.
[00:41:46] Is somehow possessed by her.
[00:41:48] Yes.
[00:41:49] Something we got, you know, some explanation for the first one.
[00:41:52] Yeah.
[00:41:52] But it doesn't matter.
[00:41:53] Yeah.
[00:41:55] But you know what?
[00:41:56] I don't like, I didn't like either of the characters from 2.
[00:42:00] No.
[00:42:00] And the fact to bring them back.
[00:42:02] Bring them back.
[00:42:02] Like just let their story end in 2.
[00:42:04] Yeah.
[00:42:04] And then just have him and his girlfriend come back and just go to Christmas town.
[00:42:09] A whole new family.
[00:42:10] Exactly.
[00:42:10] Yeah.
[00:42:11] That's what would have made it better.
[00:42:12] Still super enjoyable.
[00:42:13] Yeah.
[00:42:13] It was super fun.
[00:42:14] Let's keep on supporting the terrorize your own barf and the terrifier movies too.
[00:42:19] Yeah.
[00:42:19] Whatever it's called.
[00:42:21] And bring your own.
[00:42:22] Ivan, Jason, terrorizer, terrifier.
[00:42:26] What?
[00:42:27] It's all the same.
[00:42:28] Potato, potato, whatever.
[00:42:29] Well, you know what that means though, Murr.
[00:42:32] Yeah.
[00:42:33] I guess so.
[00:42:33] That's a triple banger.
[00:42:35] Triple banger.
[00:42:37] Much like art's girlfriend.
[00:42:39] Yeah.
[00:42:40] She's hot.
[00:42:43] All right.
[00:42:43] So, woman of the hour.
[00:42:46] Mm.
[00:42:47] Anna Kendrick in her directorial debut has shown she grasps how to get our attention.
[00:42:54] Right from scene one, or should I say frame one.
[00:42:56] She creates tension and shows us she understands how to peer into every character she puts into frame and peer right into their souls.
[00:43:05] On top of that, she seems to capture every scene's essence in a way that you feel the atmosphere and tension of each scene exactly how you were supposed to feel it.
[00:43:14] She masterfully moves through time, building suspense as the film unwinds and we are left feeling dread and fear for our lead Kendrick herself.
[00:43:26] Which, to do that your first time directing and then also starring it, pretty big, pretty big feat.
[00:43:33] Mm.
[00:43:34] Not very often do we see a true story brought to the screen where you feel, or at least I did, got the feeling that we actually got as true in events as we probably could.
[00:43:44] Even if some of the events didn't go exactly as shown, I still felt as I was watching the movie that that could have been how it played out for me.
[00:43:54] All right.
[00:43:55] Even though this is some pretty big coincidences.
[00:43:57] There's a couple.
[00:43:58] Yeah.
[00:43:59] But okay.
[00:43:59] Yeah.
[00:44:00] Even though this is a mildly gore-ridden rated PG suspense film that normally would make me rage.
[00:44:09] It didn't feel like it though, did it?
[00:44:10] It didn't feel like that.
[00:44:12] And I'll have some things.
[00:44:16] I like this film and I can't wait to see what Kendrick does next.
[00:44:19] And you get a PG rated horror biopic, meh.
[00:44:24] And I got some unpacking, but what did you think?
[00:44:26] About the same.
[00:44:27] Okay.
[00:44:28] Right there.
[00:44:30] Moving on.
[00:44:31] Yeah, no, it was really, really quite good.
[00:44:34] And I didn't know very much going into this.
[00:44:38] I was sitting with someone that knew a lot more about it than I did.
[00:44:41] Oh, okay.
[00:44:42] Okay.
[00:44:43] So afterwards she had a few like little parts.
[00:44:48] Criticisms.
[00:44:49] Well, not even criticisms, but you know, just like when you go to anything that's based on a true story.
[00:44:54] Yeah.
[00:44:54] When you take liberties in certain things, it's always like, did they really have to do that?
[00:44:58] Wasn't the story interesting enough without doing that?
[00:45:00] Yeah.
[00:45:00] Yeah.
[00:45:00] But me going in, not knowing about any of this, I liked the movie.
[00:45:04] Yeah.
[00:45:05] It moved along.
[00:45:06] It was very, very tense.
[00:45:08] Well paced.
[00:45:08] Yeah.
[00:45:08] It, it, there are some coincidence in it where if you're going in and you're like, you know,
[00:45:14] it's based on true story.
[00:45:15] You're saying to yourself, eh, this seems a little too convenient.
[00:45:19] Um, but you know what?
[00:45:21] It was all entertaining.
[00:45:22] So yeah.
[00:45:24] And as you say, Anna Kendrick did a very good job of creating atmosphere.
[00:45:28] She did a very good job of creating tension.
[00:45:30] I, I liked the way that it cut back and forth between all the different times, which usually I'm not a huge fan of.
[00:45:37] Yeah.
[00:45:37] But they also didn't over explain it either.
[00:45:39] They didn't go to, Oh, actually they did.
[00:45:41] They did put up like the date every time.
[00:45:44] They did, but they did it once.
[00:45:45] Yeah.
[00:45:45] They did it once.
[00:45:46] And they would jump.
[00:45:47] Yeah.
[00:45:47] So, so we knew based on who the characters were.
[00:45:50] So I, I liked that about it.
[00:45:52] And how good was Tony Hale in this?
[00:45:53] Oh my God.
[00:45:54] He was so good in this.
[00:45:55] Like I almost didn't recognize him for the first five minutes.
[00:46:07] So here's the thing about this.
[00:46:08] It is a PG rated horror film.
[00:46:11] There is no real blood in this.
[00:46:13] There isn't, but it feels so much.
[00:46:14] It's those scenes feel so gritty and they did like the very first opening scene.
[00:46:19] And it's like, this doesn't feel PG, but then you look at it.
[00:46:23] Like if you look back at it, it's like, okay, well you didn't really see anything, but it felt really.
[00:46:30] And the characters, like, I think I really felt that she was able to capture those characters feelings and thoughts.
[00:46:39] Like you knew what the serial killer was thinking.
[00:46:41] You knew what each one of the characters, like it's not very often we get a film like this that really does have such great character development.
[00:46:51] I, I, I found you can overlook like this almost made it to a Mondo for me.
[00:46:56] Um, really good.
[00:46:57] It was very close.
[00:46:58] Yeah.
[00:46:59] Yeah.
[00:47:00] There you go.
[00:47:01] There you go.
[00:47:03] Holy mess.
[00:47:04] Um, the dating game scene, like that scene.
[00:47:08] And that one's one that isn't exactly like it.
[00:47:11] Cause I went back and watched the dating game scene.
[00:47:13] Oh, okay.
[00:47:14] The actual scene.
[00:47:15] Yeah.
[00:47:15] The actual scene.
[00:47:16] And she, she does have like this, uh, the true life person is, is dynamic for sure, but not, not to that.
[00:47:24] Yeah.
[00:47:25] It's just like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
[00:47:27] We got an answer for everything.
[00:47:29] Yeah.
[00:47:29] Like attack.
[00:47:30] And it Kendrick's character is so brilliant in, in how she does that for sure.
[00:47:35] Um, and then the date with the Kendrick has with the killer that, that actually didn't happen.
[00:47:40] No.
[00:47:40] Um, and here's the thing.
[00:47:42] It didn't, I'm not sure that it needed to happen.
[00:47:45] Like there was so much else going on there that.
[00:47:48] Well, there was a thing like they did talk about the fact that she did meet with him after and got creeped out by him.
[00:47:54] Yeah.
[00:47:55] So, you know, Kendrick's spin on it was they actually kind of went on a date.
[00:48:00] So as opposed to just spending time talking after the fact.
[00:48:04] So as I didn't have a problem with it, as I say, but I liked it.
[00:48:09] There you go.
[00:48:10] It was good.
[00:48:14] Hey.
[00:48:15] Oh yeah, baby.
[00:48:17] That music's familiar.
[00:48:18] Yeah.
[00:48:19] Is this what we talked about the other night or did you talk about?
[00:48:22] Yeah.
[00:48:22] Uh, sis to Jim, cause I wasn't really going to do anything.
[00:48:26] Um, I've been unusually busy this week, which I'm still busy, but.
[00:48:31] Uh, in the nearly 50 years that Saturday Night Live has been on the air,
[00:48:37] it has spawned a huge list of comedic performers and some equally big films.
[00:48:42] For the most part, these performers didn't really hit it big until they broke away from Lorne Michaels and did their own thing.
[00:48:52] Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Julie Reus-Dreyfus.
[00:49:00] The list goes on.
[00:49:02] Of all the Lorne Michaels produced SNL spinoff films, most were horrible.
[00:49:11] There are a few exceptions.
[00:49:14] Obviously the big one is Wayne's World.
[00:49:17] The first one.
[00:49:18] Oh, I thought it was Night of the Rocksbury.
[00:49:20] No.
[00:49:21] That's on air.
[00:49:22] Uh, best bros Wayne and Garth in their epic adventure was the biggest thing to ever come out of the SNL stable.
[00:49:30] The special appearances by Alice Cooper.
[00:49:32] Didn't Sweeney do a Pat movie?
[00:49:35] Yeah.
[00:49:35] It's on your check.
[00:49:36] I'm in the office here, dude.
[00:49:37] Oh, well that was excellent.
[00:49:38] Yeah.
[00:49:38] Alice Cooper, Rob Lowe, the T2 Terminator, aka Robert Patrick, and the babelicious Tia Carrere.
[00:49:46] This was a fun ride which included a revival of Bohemian Rhapsody to kick things off.
[00:49:52] Mmm.
[00:49:53] Unfortunately, the sequel wasn't good, but it did have Aerosmith and Christopher Walken.
[00:49:58] Wasn't Rob Lowe in the second one too?
[00:50:00] Uh, no.
[00:50:01] Just the first?
[00:50:02] No.
[00:50:03] Because Christopher Walken was like his boss.
[00:50:05] Oh.
[00:50:07] It also featured...
[00:50:08] I'm walking here.
[00:50:09] Uh, as a piece of, uh, I guess trivia.
[00:50:13] Alright.
[00:50:14] The guy who played the big time record producer in the first one is the same sleazeball who managed Michael Jackson, who basically creeped out Sheryl Crow and made her feel like less than a human.
[00:50:26] So he wasn't a nice guy to begin with.
[00:50:28] But yeah, same guy.
[00:50:29] Played a version of himself.
[00:50:31] But that was back when he...
[00:50:32] Before all this stuff came to light.
[00:50:34] Before he became a Weinstein.
[00:50:36] Anyway.
[00:50:37] But yeah, he's in the first one.
[00:50:38] Anyway.
[00:50:39] Next up, the Blues Brothers.
[00:50:43] The original pairing of SNL OGs.
[00:50:46] John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.
[00:50:50] This epic road trip...
[00:50:51] Aykroyd!
[00:50:52] Film.
[00:50:53] Yeah.
[00:50:54] How do you screw that up?
[00:50:56] Featuring special appearances from some of music's biggest legends.
[00:51:01] Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, and Chaka Khan.
[00:51:06] Chaka Khan!
[00:51:07] Of course, the heart of the story is Jake and Elwood Blues on a mission from God to save their childhood orphanage while being chased by the police.
[00:51:17] Poe Poe.
[00:51:17] And John Candy.
[00:51:19] Chaka mad.
[00:51:20] Chaka real mad.
[00:51:22] We have...
[00:51:25] Magruber.
[00:51:26] Magruber!
[00:51:27] I love Groover.
[00:51:30] I took an upper decker.
[00:51:32] I have not seen this one.
[00:51:34] What's an upper decker?
[00:51:36] Will Forte.
[00:51:36] That's why you take a poo in the tank instead of in the bowl.
[00:51:40] I have not seen this one.
[00:51:42] It's Will Forte.
[00:51:42] But I can appreciate a parody of one of my favorite 80s TV shows.
[00:51:46] Oh, man.
[00:51:47] Will Forte is so good.
[00:51:47] I'm told it was pretty good.
[00:51:49] Starring Will Forte and Chris...
[00:51:51] Oh, you would love it just for the Chris Jericho scene, man.
[00:51:54] He's in everything now.
[00:51:55] He recruits all these WWE guys.
[00:51:57] It's so good.
[00:51:58] Speaking of, he was in Terrifier 3.
[00:52:00] He was!
[00:52:01] Yes, he was.
[00:52:01] Yeah.
[00:52:02] Briefly.
[00:52:05] Then we have The Coneheads.
[00:52:08] 1993.
[00:52:09] Also at Dan Aykroyd.
[00:52:10] Not the best film.
[00:52:13] It does feature two original SNL cast members, Jane Curtin and Dan Aykroyd.
[00:52:18] It's a funny sketch that maybe shouldn't have been turned into a movie.
[00:52:22] Yeah, definitely not.
[00:52:23] And we have Superstar.
[00:52:26] Yes!
[00:52:26] I like Superstar.
[00:52:27] This was way past the point I stopped watching SNL.
[00:52:31] No!
[00:52:32] But it was funny character portrayed by Molly Shannon.
[00:52:34] I don't care what she's in.
[00:52:35] I can just watch Molly Shannon.
[00:52:36] She's hilarious.
[00:52:36] She can be in the worst script ever.
[00:52:38] It doesn't matter.
[00:52:38] It's Molly Shannon.
[00:52:39] She's worth watching.
[00:52:40] I can't see it being funny for 90 minutes, but I'm sure.
[00:52:43] Molly Shannon is funny.
[00:52:44] It's Molly Shannon.
[00:52:45] I'm sure she made it work.
[00:52:46] Molly Shannon.
[00:52:46] She could be in an epic Lord of the Rings version of Superstar.
[00:52:51] Now it's time for the garbage.
[00:52:53] Oh no!
[00:52:54] What?
[00:52:54] The Ladies Man.
[00:52:56] Oh, The Ladies Man is great.
[00:52:57] It joins the growing list of mediocre movies based on SNL.
[00:53:02] I like The Ladies Man.
[00:53:03] It doesn't have enough material to last the length of the movie.
[00:53:06] I remember a few of the sketches being mildly amusing.
[00:53:10] Tim Meadows.
[00:53:11] It's not a full movie.
[00:53:12] I love Tim Meadows.
[00:53:13] It's not a full movie.
[00:53:14] And there's Bryce's favorite, which did not do well apparently.
[00:53:17] And critics didn't like it too much.
[00:53:19] Let's see.
[00:53:19] What's my favorite?
[00:53:20] Night at the Rocks.
[00:53:21] Oh, I thought it was...
[00:53:22] No.
[00:53:22] No, that's coming.
[00:53:24] Some people like this film with Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan reprising their roles to
[00:53:28] some of their little sketch show.
[00:53:30] Yes!
[00:53:30] Once again, a decent 10 minute joke that cannot last the entire film.
[00:53:35] Yeah.
[00:53:35] And finally, the absolute worst film to ever come from the mind of Lorne Michaels.
[00:53:41] It's Pat.
[00:53:42] It's Pat.
[00:53:43] Classic.
[00:53:44] Again.
[00:53:45] And Chris!
[00:53:46] Julia Sweeney at her best.
[00:53:47] And Chris!
[00:53:48] A tired joke from SNL about a character whose sole purpose in life is to make people wonder
[00:53:54] if they are a man or a woman.
[00:53:56] That was the whole joke.
[00:53:58] And then their part is Chris!
[00:53:59] And now, imagine that joke stretched out to 90 minutes.
[00:54:04] That's right.
[00:54:04] And that's It's Pat.
[00:54:06] And it's brilliant.
[00:54:07] Julia Sweeney has done some good characters.
[00:54:09] This is not one of them.
[00:54:11] So good.
[00:54:13] Just awful.
[00:54:14] But yeah, so Lorne should maybe just stick to doing the TV show.
[00:54:19] I don't think he has a lot of luck to do.
[00:54:21] Those are all worth watching.
[00:54:22] I don't know about that.
[00:54:23] Whatever.
[00:54:25] Nice.
[00:54:26] And you...
[00:54:26] Watching it's Pat tonight.
[00:54:27] You go ahead and watch them then.
[00:54:29] Temperature rising.
[00:54:32] Vision blurring.
[00:54:35] Rage taking over.
[00:54:54] Okay, so my rage this week is Bryce because he stole my thunder for my rage, which was going
[00:55:02] to be where Terrifier came out at not at Christmas.
[00:55:07] Because there's nothing better than a Christmas horror movie.
[00:55:10] Yes.
[00:55:11] Like it makes no sense that that came out in October.
[00:55:14] Hmm.
[00:55:15] Like it's just dumb.
[00:55:17] They could have...
[00:55:18] There's like...
[00:55:18] Could have put other movies out.
[00:55:20] It's odd.
[00:55:22] It's stupid.
[00:55:23] Yeah.
[00:55:24] Because it's...
[00:55:25] I mean...
[00:55:25] There's a lot of...
[00:55:26] There's a lot of...
[00:55:27] Although you know what?
[00:55:28] The competition at Christmas is not the people that are going to Terrifier.
[00:55:32] Because you get all the...
[00:55:33] The...
[00:55:34] Those...
[00:55:34] You get like...
[00:55:35] On Christmas Day, you always get like three movies get released that are all have Academy
[00:55:40] Award aspirations.
[00:55:41] Should have been those and Terrifier.
[00:55:43] And then everybody that doesn't want to watch that other...
[00:55:44] That's right.
[00:55:45] Terrifier.
[00:55:46] Exactly.
[00:55:46] That's exactly my point.
[00:55:48] Did I get the name right?
[00:55:48] Yeah, you did.
[00:55:49] Terrifier.
[00:55:49] But it's Terrifier 3.
[00:55:51] Whatever.
[00:55:52] They're all the same.
[00:55:53] Yeah.
[00:55:53] So my rage is...
[00:55:54] Art the clown.
[00:55:55] We need more horror at Christmas.
[00:55:58] More horror at Christmas.
[00:55:59] That's my rage.
[00:56:00] And then Bryce ruining my...
[00:56:01] We need new Krampus films is what we need.
[00:56:03] Yeah.
[00:56:03] That also...
[00:56:04] Oh, there's a Krampus film coming out for Christmas, but...
[00:56:06] Is there?
[00:56:06] It's going to come out probably the end of November.
[00:56:09] Which is going to piss me off too.
[00:56:11] Ooh.
[00:56:11] Be forewarned, Santa.
[00:56:14] What's...
[00:56:14] I'm sorry.
[00:56:14] What's coming out?
[00:56:15] That one with...
[00:56:16] What's his name?
[00:56:17] Oh, Red Rocket.
[00:56:18] Red Rocket.
[00:56:19] That's not a Krampus.
[00:56:19] Red man.
[00:56:20] That's if you rub your dog too much.
[00:56:22] Oh yeah.
[00:56:22] I guess technically Krampus is in that.
[00:56:25] Red.
[00:56:25] Yeah, Krampus is in it.
[00:56:26] Big Red.
[00:56:27] Krampus is the one that kidnaps Santa.
[00:56:29] Red.
[00:56:29] Red on the horizon.
[00:56:31] I don't think he kills him.
[00:56:31] Yeah.
[00:56:32] Red...
[00:56:32] Red...
[00:56:32] Red one.
[00:56:34] Red one.
[00:56:35] Red one.
[00:56:36] Red one.
[00:56:36] Red one.
[00:56:36] Red one.
[00:56:37] I think that's it.
[00:56:41] Red one.
[00:56:42] That's right.
[00:56:43] No, not red rum.
[00:56:43] That's totally different.
[00:56:45] Chris Pratt and Cena is in it too.
[00:56:48] They weren't in The Shining.
[00:56:49] No, they're in Red one.
[00:56:52] Red one.
[00:56:52] Red one.
[00:56:53] I think he stole his rage.
[00:57:20] I...
[00:57:21] Nah, he didn't steal my rage.
[00:57:23] What about that kid in the movie?
[00:57:24] The kid in the movie?
[00:57:25] You know what?
[00:57:26] It's whatever.
[00:57:27] I mean, maybe that's my rage is that I didn't go to brick piece, brick by piece, piece by
[00:57:33] brick.
[00:57:33] Piece by brick.
[00:57:34] Piece by piece at a later time because man...
[00:57:38] Like with me on Tuesday night after work?
[00:57:40] A lot of kids there.
[00:57:41] That was...
[00:57:42] I got...
[00:57:43] I'm not really raging about anything.
[00:57:45] I mean, I'm raging about stuff.
[00:57:47] It took me 45 minutes to get home today.
[00:57:49] Well, there you go.
[00:57:50] Like...
[00:57:50] That was annoying.
[00:57:52] We're not called film love.
[00:57:54] You gotta have stuff...
[00:57:55] Scoopy people on the road.
[00:57:55] We're three old people that rage about all kinds of shit.
[00:57:58] Everything.
[00:57:58] Last few weeks I've like had something that I knew I was gonna talk about going into this,
[00:58:02] but yeah.
[00:58:02] It wasn't the 45 minute drive home?
[00:58:04] Because you didn't write it down 20 minutes.
[00:58:07] You know what?
[00:58:07] I'm driving home and I decide that I'm gonna take my usual route.
[00:58:12] And when I go to take my usual route, there's traffic backed up on the ring to get onto
[00:58:17] the Glenmore Trail that's like ridiculous.
[00:58:20] I'm like, well, I'm not gonna do that.
[00:58:22] So then I'm like, okay, what do I do now?
[00:58:23] Do I go all the way to Deerfoot?
[00:58:24] I'm on Blackfoot right now.
[00:58:26] People don't know what I'm talking about, but it doesn't matter.
[00:58:29] And I'm like, you know what?
[00:58:30] I'm not gonna go all the way to Deerfoot, double back to Memorial Drive,
[00:58:33] and go through all that ridiculousness.
[00:58:35] So then I decide, you know what?
[00:58:38] I'm gonna go through downtown.
[00:58:40] Oh my God.
[00:58:41] Rush hour?
[00:58:42] What are you nuts?
[00:58:42] I thought that if I hit 6th Avenue, I got a one way street.
[00:58:47] I'm gonna hit all the green lights, right?
[00:58:49] I got stopped at every single light and we just inched along.
[00:58:53] It was horrible.
[00:58:54] Horrible.
[00:58:56] So...
[00:58:57] Traffic?
[00:58:57] Yeah, traffic's no fun.
[00:58:59] Downtown rush hour?
[00:59:00] Imagine that.
[00:59:01] Downtown rush hour is also no fun.
[00:59:02] Imagine that.
[00:59:02] Someone's writing down my...
[00:59:04] Let's see.
[00:59:05] This just in.
[00:59:07] Apparently, somebody reminded me of his rage.
[00:59:09] Oh, I forgot.
[00:59:11] I also...
[00:59:12] You know, here's my rage.
[00:59:15] So you have two then?
[00:59:16] I guess this is actually my rage.
[00:59:17] I forgot.
[00:59:18] Someone had to remind him because he's old.
[00:59:19] I actually had to pay twice.
[00:59:22] Well, let's say four times actually, because I got a ticket for me and a ticket for Kim.
[00:59:29] And then my wiener dog went and ate a bunch of plastic bags.
[00:59:33] We had to go to doggy emergency instead of going to the movie.
[00:59:36] So I ended up not going to the movie.
[00:59:38] And so then we had to go again on the holiday Monday.
[00:59:41] And because we had to go on the holiday Monday, I'm guessing we ended up seeing it with a bunch of snot-nosed little kids instead of seeing it with a more mature audience.
[00:59:50] So yeah, that's my rage.
[00:59:53] Your rage is your dog.
[00:59:54] Yeah, yeah.
[00:59:55] Yeah.
[00:59:55] Who likes to eat things that shouldn't be eaten?
[00:59:57] Yeah, he's got to stop eating the...
[00:59:59] Plastic bags?
[01:00:00] You know, that's my rage.
[01:00:02] People go into dog parks with Ziploc bags because my dog's too dumb not to eat them.
[01:00:08] Okay, my rage is my dog apparently.
[01:00:11] But he's not because he's awesome.
[01:00:12] All right then.
[01:00:13] He's a dumbass like you.
[01:00:14] Okay, what was my rage?
[01:00:15] Your dog's a dumbass like you.
[01:00:17] No!
[01:00:18] Not at all.
[01:00:20] Baxter's the best.
[01:00:21] Whatever.
[01:00:22] Time is over.
[01:00:24] All right.
[01:00:29] We got the lists.
[01:00:33] We'll do it.
[01:00:33] We'll do it.
[01:00:34] Yeah.
[01:00:34] Well, we didn't have a film to watch but the murder's gonna tell us what we're gonna watch.
[01:00:39] Oh, you got it.
[01:00:39] For next week.
[01:00:41] Mesmerized dog?
[01:00:41] He's got a Carol Kane, I think.
[01:00:43] I do have a few of them.
[01:00:44] I love Carol Kane.
[01:00:45] Here's one which I checked and double checked and these two people are in it right next to each
[01:00:51] other on the listings.
[01:00:52] Nice.
[01:00:52] So I'm assuming they share the same amount of screen time.
[01:00:55] Nice.
[01:00:55] Let's see if it's two minutes or 20.
[01:00:58] Okay, so hold that for a second.
[01:00:59] Okay.
[01:01:00] So people listening, if this is your first time, first off, welcome aboard.
[01:01:04] Join the rage.
[01:01:05] Um, we have a page on our website called the lists which we list down five, count them,
[01:01:12] five lists.
[01:01:13] We have the mesmerized, we have the repulsive, we have the doubted, we have the undoubted,
[01:01:18] and we had the once mesmerizing and the list of those people who were once mesmerizing
[01:01:24] but were punted by someone who's more mesmerizing because everybody knows if something's mesmerizing,
[01:01:31] you can't look away.
[01:01:33] And so if you look away to someone else, that other person must be mesmerizing or at least
[01:01:38] more mesmerizing.
[01:01:40] So, who you got for us to mesmerize off, Murr?
[01:01:44] Well, as you mentioned, we added Carol Kane and she's been in a lot of movies with a lot
[01:01:51] of people who actually are on our list.
[01:01:53] So next up, we've got Carol Kane and Viola Davis.
[01:01:58] What?
[01:01:59] Something called the shrink is in.
[01:02:03] The shrink is in?
[01:02:04] The shrink is in?
[01:02:05] The shrink is in?
[01:02:05] They were both in it.
[01:02:06] What the hell is the shrink is in?
[01:02:08] I don't know.
[01:02:09] What do you mean you don't know?
[01:02:10] I don't want to see this.
[01:02:11] I don't watch all the movies.
[01:02:13] The shrink.
[01:02:13] I've never seen it.
[01:02:14] I just know they're both in it.
[01:02:15] Is in.
[01:02:17] It's got Courtney Cox and David Artette in it.
[01:02:20] That's right.
[01:02:21] This is going to be for Mary.
[01:02:22] Oh, God.
[01:02:23] But these two are also in it.
[01:02:26] What in the hell is this thing?
[01:02:28] I have no idea.
[01:02:29] It looks horrible.
[01:02:29] A woman impersonates a psychiatrist to win the man of her dreams.
[01:02:33] David Artette is the man of her dreams?
[01:02:36] Back then she was.
[01:02:37] Maybe.
[01:02:38] Or maybe it's David James Elliott.
[01:02:40] Ah, well that would make more sense.
[01:02:42] He looks pretty dreamy.
[01:02:44] Yeah, he does.
[01:02:45] Anyway.
[01:02:46] I don't know.
[01:02:47] Maybe it's a TV movie, but whatever.
[01:02:47] I'm kind of excited about it.
[01:02:49] I am.
[01:02:50] Because I've never seen it.
[01:02:51] I've never seen it either.
[01:02:52] Good luck finding it then.
[01:02:54] Yeah, that may be a challenge.
[01:02:56] That may be a challenge too.
[01:02:57] So if we can't watch it while we're gone.
[01:02:59] Well, it was released on stream.
[01:03:00] Well, it was made in what?
[01:03:02] 19...
[01:03:03] 2000 or something.
[01:03:04] Yeah.
[01:03:04] 2000.
[01:03:05] In the year 2000 it was made.
[01:03:08] And then do you know what its streaming release date was?
[01:03:11] What?
[01:03:12] No idea.
[01:03:12] December 5th, 2016.
[01:03:14] So it took 16 years for someone to say, you know what?
[01:03:18] Let's put it on streaming.
[01:03:20] See if anybody will watch it.
[01:03:21] I'm surprised Tubi didn't pick it up or Plex.
[01:03:23] There you go.
[01:03:24] All right.
[01:03:25] Well, here we go.
[01:03:26] Yes.
[01:03:29] Oh my.
[01:03:34] Last week on Rage or Dare, our BBB boy Bryce pulled the 1993 Charlie Sheen crime thriller,
[01:03:44] Beyond the Law, from Jim's bag of evil action adventures.
[01:03:48] This week, Jim will hopefully get to pull from Bryce's bag of evil bag of...
[01:03:55] Wait, what is Bryce's bag of evil about again?
[01:03:59] Oh yeah, that's right.
[01:04:00] The only thing evil about Bryce's bag is that it hasn't been filled in about five months.
[01:04:04] Well, thank goodness your reliable merman and your god of rage are here to do Bryce's
[01:04:10] job...
[01:04:10] Again.
[01:04:11] I mean, really.
[01:04:13] Come on, Bryce.
[01:04:15] Well, let's check in with our brain-damaged slacker and see if the great Michael Madsen
[01:04:19] and the somewhat less talented but much more interesting brother of Emilio Estevez can put
[01:04:25] together a crime thriller that's better than Hot Shots Part 2.
[01:04:28] Though I'm guessing it's no loaded weapon.
[01:04:33] I'm so glad he added that.
[01:04:34] I like Loaded Weapon.
[01:04:36] I like Hot Shots Part 2, too.
[01:04:38] That's what I'm saying.
[01:04:39] It's no loaded weapon.
[01:04:40] I like Hot Shots Part 2 as well.
[01:04:41] Definitely isn't.
[01:04:41] Yeah.
[01:04:43] Emilio's less talented but more entertaining brother.
[01:04:46] Yeah.
[01:04:47] I...
[01:04:48] Okay, so this movie is just...
[01:04:50] It's a mess.
[01:04:51] Really?
[01:04:52] Well, here's the thing.
[01:04:54] Apparently it's based on a true story, which blows my mind because I don't know why
[01:05:00] that the DEA would get in touch with this guy Daniel Saxon who just got fired from the
[01:05:07] police force and say, be one of our undercover officers.
[01:05:11] You just got fired.
[01:05:12] Like, what?
[01:05:13] Makes total sense to me.
[01:05:14] It doesn't make any sense.
[01:05:15] Anyway, so he ends up going undercover as a biker and...
[01:05:21] Charlie Sheen?
[01:05:21] Yeah, Charlie Sheen does.
[01:05:23] Sure.
[01:05:23] So he grows, you know, long hair and a mustache and a beard and he finds some guy that just
[01:05:28] wants to be liked, I guess.
[01:05:30] And he ends up being his like sidekick and gets him in with the biker gang, even though
[01:05:35] the biker gang hates this guy.
[01:05:36] I don't know what's going on.
[01:05:38] Sounds like Point Break.
[01:05:39] No, it's exactly like Point Break.
[01:05:43] And it's nothing makes sense.
[01:05:45] And it just goes on and on and on.
[01:05:47] But I don't understand why a movie with this many talented people in it is so bad.
[01:05:54] I mean, Rip Torn is just wasted in it.
[01:05:56] Charlie Sheen, you know, he's not super talented, but he's like the worst he's ever been.
[01:06:02] And he's been pretty bad in some movies.
[01:06:04] Is that when he was on his tire?
[01:06:05] Yeah.
[01:06:05] Michael Madsen plays basically the same character that he was in Reservoir Dogs, only about dialed
[01:06:14] down 50%.
[01:06:16] What's the fun in that?
[01:06:17] There's no fun in it.
[01:06:19] It's zero fun.
[01:06:20] Not at all.
[01:06:21] Courtney B. Vance.
[01:06:22] I love Courtney B. Vance.
[01:06:23] But in here, it's just terrible.
[01:06:24] It's just a bad movie.
[01:06:26] It's the acting's terrible.
[01:06:29] And it just goes on and on and on.
[01:06:31] I don't know what I was watching.
[01:06:33] And then it came up.
[01:06:34] This is a true story at the end.
[01:06:35] And I'm like, how in the hell is this a true story?
[01:06:38] Nothing made any sense.
[01:06:40] So I don't know what to say about it.
[01:06:43] I mean, it was just a just a big time rage.
[01:06:45] I hated this movie.
[01:06:47] I think by the way, I don't know how this I don't think this had a theatrical release
[01:06:51] in America.
[01:06:52] I think it was released in like Germany or something still had one had like a European
[01:06:56] release, but like I can see why they didn't release it in the theaters here because
[01:07:01] it is awful.
[01:07:02] Like it's just, it's so bad.
[01:07:04] I just, and nothing, nothing made any sense.
[01:07:09] It was stupid.
[01:07:11] I love this.
[01:07:12] You know what?
[01:07:13] Ta-da!
[01:07:15] Yeah, it was a rage.
[01:07:16] Ha ha ha!
[01:07:18] It's made my day.
[01:07:19] It's made my day.
[01:07:21] Made my day.
[01:07:22] Okay.
[01:07:22] I can choose from the audience.
[01:07:24] Dare bag.
[01:07:25] Ooh, Casey's bag is full.
[01:07:28] Uh, Marie even got much left.
[01:07:29] I'm going to pull from Casey.
[01:07:32] Mine is almost empty.
[01:07:34] Eh, could use some, could use some loving.
[01:07:37] All right.
[01:07:37] It's not as full as Casey's bag.
[01:07:40] All right.
[01:07:42] Casey's bag of evil remakes is going to make me have to see Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines.
[01:07:55] It wasn't that bad.
[01:07:57] Eh.
[01:07:58] It's not the worst of the Terminators.
[01:07:59] Wasn't that the Christian Bale one?
[01:08:01] Or is that a different one?
[01:08:02] I don't know.
[01:08:03] Uh, I don't know.
[01:08:04] They all weren't that bad.
[01:08:05] It's a...
[01:08:07] No, there's a few.
[01:08:08] Ah, I could watch them all.
[01:08:09] Remember the last one with Hamilton and...
[01:08:12] Yeah, it was fine.
[01:08:12] And I thought...
[01:08:13] An old Schwarzenegger.
[01:08:14] An old Schwarzenegger who had a baby or something.
[01:08:16] Yeah, it was all right.
[01:08:18] No, it wasn't.
[01:08:19] Yeah, it was Terminator.
[01:08:21] We actually reviewed it on this podcast and we all hated it.
[01:08:24] I don't think I would have given it a rage.
[01:08:26] Well...
[01:08:27] You must be mistaken.
[01:08:28] You are mistaken.
[01:08:29] I don't think so.
[01:08:31] So you just have to watch this, right?
[01:08:32] It's not me?
[01:08:33] No, no, it's just me.
[01:08:33] I get the week off?
[01:08:34] Yeah, you do.
[01:08:35] I never get the week off.
[01:08:36] Yeah, one week off.
[01:08:37] That's all you got.
