Episode 263 - Blumhouse does it again

Welcome back ragers to the best movie review podcast on the planet. The rage rolls on from the Film Rage Studio.

This week the Film Rage Crew suffered quite a bit. Blumhouse continues to deliver films that are very rage worthy as AfrAId continues the trend. Then they got some revisionist history in the form of Reagan. But thank goodness for Tyrese Gibson and Liev Schreiber as they both gave perhaps their best performances of their careers in 1992 and Across the River and Into the Trees. Then Bryce babbles incoherently about the Schwarzenegger film Sabotage in the Rage or Dare segment.

[00:00:02] It's true. We're poopy.

[00:00:05] Totally poopy.

[00:00:06] It's time to feel the rage!

[00:00:08] Welcome to Film Rage where we talk movies in theaters, streaming and classic films as well.

[00:00:16] Directors and actors beware as you cannot hide from the rage.

[00:00:20] My name is Bryson and I'm part of the Film Rage crew which also includes Jim.

[00:00:24] Hey there Jim. Hey hey hey, Brass. I'm feeling poopy.

[00:00:28] Excellent. And also we have the Merman who is part of the Kings of Leon crew, whatever that means.

[00:00:36] The entourage, that's right.

[00:00:37] So you big fan of Kings of Leon?

[00:00:39] Never.

[00:00:40] You must have heard some of their music while you're moving their stuff around.

[00:00:44] No music.

[00:00:45] I kind of like Kings of Leon.

[00:00:46] Did you go like after the cut? I don't understand.

[00:00:48] They don't let us in until the concert's over.

[00:00:51] Really?

[00:00:51] Yeah.

[00:00:52] So you just stand there outside?

[00:00:53] We just sit outside. Yeah, it rained last week and they made us stand outside.

[00:00:56] But you get paid to get rained on? Yeah.

[00:00:59] Okay, well that's all right.

[00:01:00] I sometimes...

[00:01:01] So did you meet the Kings of Leon? Did you meet the King?

[00:01:04] Couldn't tell you. I had no idea who they are.

[00:01:05] I guess there's more than one. Are they all Kings?

[00:01:08] Sure, they must be.

[00:01:09] 100%.

[00:01:09] I didn't see anything with the crown so...

[00:01:12] They're right.

[00:01:13] I don't know.

[00:01:15] I got three hours sleep. Let's move on.

[00:01:19] I kind of want to talk about the Kings of Leon.

[00:01:22] I kind of want to talk about getting rained on.

[00:01:25] I sometimes pay people to do that for me.

[00:01:28] Yeah, that's a different sort of thing.

[00:01:31] Really quite different, Jim.

[00:01:36] So with the introductions out of the way, let's brage on.

[00:01:41] Well, thanks for all been supporting us.

[00:01:43] If you love our independent podcast, it's going to say Poopcast.

[00:01:49] You covered one of the bodily functions earlier.

[00:01:52] You must cover the other one.

[00:01:53] Absolutely.

[00:01:55] Please like, subscribe, share and give us a five star rating on your listening platform.

[00:01:58] Or support this FilmRage community and join our membership at buymeacoffee.com.

[00:02:04] You can still buy us a movie rental and dare us to see a terrible, terrible movie that played in cinemas.

[00:02:13] Anyone in the world.

[00:02:15] And we'll watch it.

[00:02:16] We will.

[00:02:17] Absolutely.

[00:02:19] Now, let's get to raging.

[00:02:21] What the amazing moment predict?

[00:02:31] What the amazing moment predict?

[00:02:33] Will he predict the rage or will he predict the wonder?

[00:02:37] Will he tell us all what Jim and Brice are at the movies?

[00:02:42] Well, you know what, kids?

[00:02:45] Here he comes swimming to you.

[00:02:48] Ooh, swimmery, swimmery.

[00:02:54] Swimmery, swimmery.

[00:02:58] Swimmery, swimmery.

[00:03:01] Swim, swim, swim, swim, swim.

[00:03:06] I never have ever wanted to stop the recording button in my life.

[00:03:10] You know, most of our listeners, it's their favorite segment.

[00:03:13] I hate it so much.

[00:03:14] I have no idea how much I hate it.

[00:03:17] Yeah, so four movies.

[00:03:20] I actually saw three of them.

[00:03:22] Yeah, you did.

[00:03:22] Mostly because Brice had better things to do.

[00:03:25] That's right.

[00:03:26] Well, that's debatable.

[00:03:28] But you know, other things to do then.

[00:03:30] I wish I had those things to do.

[00:03:31] I didn't have anything to do.

[00:03:32] But mom's in town.

[00:03:34] Exactly.

[00:03:34] I love your mom.

[00:03:36] I wish I could have gone to the movies.

[00:03:37] She went to three movies too, Merman.

[00:03:39] I said let her invite us.

[00:03:41] We should have invited your mom on the podcast this week.

[00:03:44] I mean, how often does that happen?

[00:03:46] Yeah, it could have happened, but there are extenuating circumstances that she's not here.

[00:03:51] Is she here for another month?

[00:03:52] Because maybe we'll get her on next week.

[00:03:54] I think she's here for like three or four months.

[00:03:56] Three years?

[00:03:56] Here's her Christmas.

[00:03:57] Yeah, Italy stuck with her.

[00:03:59] Nice, there you go.

[00:04:00] Perfect.

[00:04:01] All right, what do we see, Mer?

[00:04:02] Well, in order on here, we've got Afraid with a capital A-I as in Afraid of A-I,

[00:04:10] which is what I definitely am.

[00:04:12] Capital A, F-R.

[00:04:14] Yeah.

[00:04:14] Capital A, capital I, D.

[00:04:17] But the capital is not usually in the middle of the word.

[00:04:20] No.

[00:04:20] That's where the emphasis was on the A-I.

[00:04:23] The emphasis?

[00:04:23] The emphasis on the salabel.

[00:04:25] Right.

[00:04:27] Yeah, this thing was a piece of crap.

[00:04:30] I'm pretty sure you both raged on it.

[00:04:32] Oh, that's bold.

[00:04:34] That's super bold.

[00:04:35] Oh well.

[00:04:37] But didn't you hear us laughing?

[00:04:39] It doesn't matter.

[00:04:42] OK.

[00:04:44] 1992 or I believe it's called April 29, 1992 or something.

[00:04:48] The full title is the actual date.

[00:04:50] No, it's just 1992.

[00:04:51] No, when I typed it in, it came up under the date.

[00:04:56] It might have been that title.

[00:04:57] It was done two years ago.

[00:04:59] Yeah, maybe three or four years ago.

[00:05:01] No, it was actually a fair way of raising.

[00:05:04] Yeah, we had a little heist, a little Rodney King stuff,

[00:05:07] and a little bit of die-hard.

[00:05:10] Yeah.

[00:05:11] It didn't suck.

[00:05:12] I think maybe a double man.

[00:05:14] Double man.

[00:05:15] We got the Gipper.

[00:05:19] Reagan.

[00:05:22] Ronald, the life and times of Ronald Reagan.

[00:05:25] Oh, the Gipper.

[00:05:26] The Gip.

[00:05:27] Yeah, that's got to be a rage all around.

[00:05:30] I would be very surprised if it wasn't.

[00:05:33] And funny the one I had no freaking clue about.

[00:05:36] I just watched the trailer 10 minutes ago

[00:05:38] across the river and into the trees,

[00:05:40] which is almost as long as the movie itself.

[00:05:44] What the hell?

[00:05:45] Double Mando.

[00:05:46] Double Mando.

[00:05:47] Double Mando.

[00:05:48] Wow, that's actually a movie that's set on the shelf for quite a while.

[00:05:51] Yeah, there's a lot of shelf sitters going on.

[00:05:53] You know what that means.

[00:05:55] Usually it means they're bad.

[00:05:56] It means it's dusty.

[00:05:59] Dusty and crusty just like us.

[00:06:01] You know the war with grandpa side on the shelf for quite a while.

[00:06:06] Murray's favorite movie.

[00:06:06] I liked the war with grandpa.

[00:06:07] He loved the war with grandpa.

[00:06:08] I'm just saying.

[00:06:08] That's what I'm saying.

[00:06:09] You liked it.

[00:06:10] It was mad.

[00:06:11] I wasn't so bad.

[00:06:12] It was terrible.

[00:06:14] What are you talking about?

[00:06:15] Those kids jumping on the trampolines was awesome.

[00:06:17] The only good part was Christopher Walken.

[00:06:20] Christopher Walken when he's one line.

[00:06:23] Do you remember what it was?

[00:06:24] Yes, I do.

[00:06:27] He died in his sleep while skydiving.

[00:06:34] He hit right there.

[00:06:36] See that's worth a man right there.

[00:06:38] Exactly.

[00:06:39] Okay, so off for EID.

[00:06:44] So look, I'm going straight to the point here.

[00:06:48] Nothing is new.

[00:06:49] If you can imagine what happens in this based on the trailer,

[00:06:53] that's exactly what is going to happen.

[00:06:56] At no point in this was I surprised by anything that happens.

[00:06:59] The things I did like about this was of course our little crush.

[00:07:05] Or should I say crush boy David Deschmallion.

[00:07:08] Deschmallion.

[00:07:09] Deschmallion.

[00:07:10] Deschmallion.

[00:07:11] Deschmallion.

[00:07:12] Deschmallion.

[00:07:13] At any rate, there was nowhere near enough of him.

[00:07:16] Yeah, there's never.

[00:07:17] You know what?

[00:07:17] It doesn't matter if there's a movie that's just him on the stage doing nothing.

[00:07:23] That's still not enough.

[00:07:24] It needs to be longer.

[00:07:26] As always, he is spectacular.

[00:07:29] John Cho, our favorite Harold from Harold and Kumar is his usual pretty great stuff.

[00:07:36] But apparently he's now in bed with Bloom House.

[00:07:40] This is the second Bloom House we've seen.

[00:07:42] Oh yeah.

[00:07:43] If you remember, he was in the Grudge remake.

[00:07:46] Until you said that, I'm like what?

[00:07:48] I'm like oh the Grudge.

[00:07:50] He was the Grudge.

[00:07:51] Oh no.

[00:07:52] The best John Cho.

[00:07:53] Why?

[00:07:54] Why are you doing this?

[00:07:56] So yeah, we probably can expect more of that.

[00:08:00] And I just want to say a hug for that.

[00:08:03] Although I love John Cho.

[00:08:04] So you know what?

[00:08:05] I'm okay with him.

[00:08:07] All together, while everything is unfolding in this, I didn't hate the experience.

[00:08:11] I mean the kids all do a pretty good job which is very rare in an acting situation with kids.

[00:08:18] Doing their canned rolls.

[00:08:20] There is some humor throughout both because of the stupid and the actual funny.

[00:08:24] So I did laugh quite a bit through this.

[00:08:26] So I would say don't expect to be wowed.

[00:08:30] Set your expectations really low like you should for all PG-13 Bloom House films.

[00:08:37] And although I came out of this no different than I did going into it,

[00:08:41] I didn't want to kill anyone or hate the tech stuff too much so I guess it was a little man.

[00:08:47] I didn't hate it.

[00:08:48] But I'm guessing this was written by chatGPT.

[00:08:52] Like if this wasn't written by chatGPT, I'd be surprised.

[00:08:55] I have some unpacking but I want to hear what you two say.

[00:08:58] Oh I get it next to a...

[00:09:01] So another PG horror movie from Bloom House.

[00:09:04] Yes.

[00:09:05] From Bloom House.

[00:09:06] Bum House, whatever.

[00:09:07] Bloom House.

[00:09:08] That means it starts at a rage for me.

[00:09:11] Yeah me too.

[00:09:12] It has to work its way up to a man.

[00:09:14] And did it?

[00:09:15] Did that happen?

[00:09:16] Well let's find out.

[00:09:17] Yes.

[00:09:18] So no blood or on-screen violence.

[00:09:21] No.

[00:09:22] Rage.

[00:09:24] Going CLS to make you want to do bodily harm to them.

[00:09:28] Rage.

[00:09:28] What?

[00:09:29] I hated them all.

[00:09:32] Incoherent storyline with the lame dialogue and lazy writing.

[00:09:36] Rage.

[00:09:37] It's chatGPT.

[00:09:38] But wait.

[00:09:39] Oh what was it?

[00:09:40] What?

[00:09:40] John Cho.

[00:09:41] What?

[00:09:42] It's the handsome leading man slash baby daddy.

[00:09:45] He is pretty handsome.

[00:09:46] I love me some heraldly slash subu from Star Trek.

[00:09:51] Slash John Cho.

[00:09:52] John Cho.

[00:09:53] And that Star Trek.

[00:09:54] Yeah it was the three Star Trek movies.

[00:09:57] George Tekai.

[00:09:58] Yeah this is the original Star Wars.

[00:10:00] Get whip it.

[00:10:00] That's right.

[00:10:01] And don't even talk about who was the Sulu in the next generation.

[00:10:08] I don't think there was one.

[00:10:09] I don't think there was one.

[00:10:10] It was like 10.

[00:10:11] How disappointing is that?

[00:10:12] There was like 10 spasks but I think there was only one.

[00:10:14] Yeah exactly.

[00:10:15] Anyway and that creepy dude David Whatts's name.

[00:10:18] Yes.

[00:10:19] Score.

[00:10:20] Still not enough to save this film.

[00:10:24] What?

[00:10:25] Still a rage.

[00:10:26] Oh my.

[00:10:26] The only thing scary about this film is the fact that AI will eventually take over

[00:10:30] the world and make us their bitches.

[00:10:33] That's true.

[00:10:34] I don't know about anybody else but it makes me want to build a cabin in the woods

[00:10:38] and hide from technology.

[00:10:40] I love cabins in the woods.

[00:10:41] Scary stuff kids.

[00:10:43] Yeah it was a rage.

[00:10:44] All right.

[00:10:45] I'm just tired of just bland horror that does nothing.

[00:10:50] At no point was this.

[00:10:51] This is supposed to be a horror movie at no point was it scary whatsoever.

[00:10:55] No not at all.

[00:10:56] It is this movie is utterly forgettable if you were to ask me other than the fact

[00:11:01] that it's got AI in the title.

[00:11:03] I remember that.

[00:11:04] I might remember that DAS Melchions was in it but I hope I forget.

[00:11:09] Lightning.

[00:11:09] Because this was just like I if you ask me about this movie in a week I won't

[00:11:14] know what it was.

[00:11:15] I mean I wasn't about let's chest it now because it's okay so well it's been a

[00:11:21] couple of days been I don't know.

[00:11:23] It was two days.

[00:11:24] Okay so this movie was about I think John chose character works for like a

[00:11:32] I don't even know what he works for is the way I think he works for advertising.

[00:11:36] Yeah okay I did you're helping me out here.

[00:11:40] Okay sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry.

[00:11:41] Okay so he's in the advertising game and why this company is trying to hire

[00:11:48] these guys to advertise for them is beyond me because at some point they

[00:11:52] buy them.

[00:11:54] So why would you buy the like that makes no sense.

[00:11:58] Well it does if you watch it to the end of the movie but then you've already

[00:12:02] for the end of the movie so what happened at the end I don't even

[00:12:05] remember well she basically is everything and everyone is everything

[00:12:09] everywhere you can't escape.

[00:12:10] She's everywhere all at once that so she owns everything.

[00:12:13] She is everywhere she has no physical body.

[00:12:17] She controls everybody in the world.

[00:12:20] Yeah so you can't get away from her.

[00:12:21] So that's the horror right there.

[00:12:23] That's the horror right there.

[00:12:24] That's not a horrors.

[00:12:25] Oh really?

[00:12:25] Wait till it happens.

[00:12:26] Wait till it happens buddy.

[00:12:29] Anyways I don't know.

[00:12:31] I honestly barely remember and I stayed awake through this one.

[00:12:35] I was awake through the whole thing.

[00:12:36] Yeah you were.

[00:12:37] It was like 90 minutes and it was in the middle of the day.

[00:12:39] You know what that's that's the one thing that almost made me not rage.

[00:12:42] I think it was like 83 minutes.

[00:12:43] It was like the shortest movie we've watched in a while.

[00:12:46] It's actually the length that any horror movie should be but it was bad.

[00:12:51] Like it was just.

[00:12:53] I laughed a lot at this movie.

[00:12:55] There was nothing there though.

[00:12:57] It was so bland and just.

[00:12:59] It was the experience for me because there's so much.

[00:13:02] Okay you know what we got to stop giving me as based on the fact

[00:13:05] that we're having a good time watching a bad movie.

[00:13:08] Like that has become a thing with us

[00:13:11] and it's not helping anybody out there.

[00:13:14] Well if you go with your bed.

[00:13:16] I'm sorry jib a rage is a rage.

[00:13:19] Whether you're watching it with your buddies

[00:13:21] and having a good time or not it's still a rage.

[00:13:24] Okay it's true it is.

[00:13:27] I just wanted to see how far I can string.

[00:13:30] This movie is really horrible.

[00:13:32] It's awful.

[00:13:34] But I had so much fun.

[00:13:36] It was because we hadn't seen a movie together in a while.

[00:13:40] It was like it was.

[00:13:41] We have a good time.

[00:13:43] There's no question.

[00:13:44] Yeah laughing at it.

[00:13:46] Laughing at it.

[00:13:47] We're making some gestures with our hands.

[00:13:53] It was good times.

[00:13:55] The movie was still awful.

[00:13:57] It's a rage.

[00:13:58] It's poopy.

[00:13:59] I'm sorry everybody.

[00:14:00] I'm sorry everybody.

[00:14:02] Alright well okay let's talk about 1992.

[00:14:07] Alright.

[00:14:08] Remember that.

[00:14:08] A heist film?

[00:14:10] Yes.

[00:14:11] Jim's favorites are heist films.

[00:14:14] Are they?

[00:14:14] Really?

[00:14:14] No that's not a thing.

[00:14:16] In fact most heist films,

[00:14:18] most heist films I can't even stomach.

[00:14:22] But then this heist film

[00:14:26] is executive produced by none other

[00:14:29] than the dog himself.

[00:14:31] Snoop Dogg.

[00:14:32] That's right.

[00:14:33] He executive produced it.

[00:14:35] It threw his name on it then.

[00:14:37] And stars.

[00:14:39] He was at a party with someone and they said

[00:14:41] you want to be an executive producer.

[00:14:43] He said sure.

[00:14:44] Sure there's 100 grand.

[00:14:45] It's about Rodney King

[00:14:47] and he's like count me in.

[00:14:50] That's what happened.

[00:14:51] That's exactly what happened.

[00:14:53] Yeah of course he was.

[00:14:54] And it stars Tyrese Gibson as the lead

[00:14:56] and Christopher Emanuel

[00:14:59] as his son who are both brilliant in this film.

[00:15:04] And also this has the once fantastic Ray Leota

[00:15:10] in his final film.

[00:15:11] I think it's gotta be his final film

[00:15:12] unless there's another 72 films.

[00:15:14] No I think this is the last one we're going to see him in.

[00:15:18] This one's the one that trickled out last somehow.

[00:15:20] It wasn't even.

[00:15:21] Was this recorded before the bear one?

[00:15:23] This was done after the bear.

[00:15:24] I think this was done after it.

[00:15:26] Maybe it wasn't.

[00:15:30] This one was shelved a little bit

[00:15:32] but not as long as some of the other ones.

[00:15:33] He put a pin in it and I will explain that later.

[00:15:35] Okay perfect.

[00:15:37] So the idea of holding a heist film

[00:15:40] at the same time as the LA Riots

[00:15:43] was a good concept.

[00:15:44] And does a good job of contrasting the heist content

[00:15:47] alongside of the disparity

[00:15:49] of the time that this takes place.

[00:15:52] The heist part as usual, I could take it or leave it.

[00:15:55] But the story of father and son

[00:15:57] and the message of redemption

[00:15:58] and second chances in a world that doesn't give them very often

[00:16:03] is done very well.

[00:16:05] This is a lot of the idiocy

[00:16:07] normally surrounding heist films

[00:16:09] but as much as I like ladies who kick ass and punch dicks

[00:16:13] I like marginalized communities

[00:16:16] who kick ass and punch dicks even more

[00:16:18] especially angry mother fuckers

[00:16:21] and Tareese Gibson does an amazing job in this.

[00:16:24] I freaking love that guy after seeing this movie

[00:16:26] I'm gonna go back and watch all the Fast and the Furious

[00:16:29] franchise with new eyes.

[00:16:31] No you're not because he's a clown in those

[00:16:34] and you don't want to remember him that way Jim.

[00:16:36] That's true but what I do want is I want to see him

[00:16:39] in more stuff now.

[00:16:40] That's absolutely.

[00:16:41] Absolutely.

[00:16:42] I want to see more of him.

[00:16:42] Because I didn't think he could act.

[00:16:44] When you watch Fast and the Furious

[00:16:46] it's like...

[00:16:47] Nobody in that movie acts.

[00:16:48] Well yeah they're all terrible.

[00:16:50] So this is a math for me.

[00:16:52] I couldn't get it to Amando

[00:16:53] just because there's too much high stuff that's all idiotic

[00:16:56] but man I got me some Tareese bone going on now.

[00:17:02] Alright.

[00:17:05] Yeah 1992

[00:17:07] this film was really two different movies.

[00:17:11] On the one hand we have Tareese

[00:17:13] who has a badass ex-con

[00:17:15] who is trying to raise his ungrateful son

[00:17:17] in a tough LA neighborhood.

[00:17:20] Then the Rodney King riots happened.

[00:17:23] It was an emotional and painfully accurate portrayal

[00:17:27] of the racial problems that existed in 1992

[00:17:29] for African Americans.

[00:17:31] Specifically by the police they were supposed to protect them.

[00:17:35] That scene when they got pulled over was just...

[00:17:37] Horrifying.

[00:17:38] Intense yeah like basically his son

[00:17:40] basically learned right there

[00:17:41] what the real world was all about.

[00:17:44] Yeah his dad did nothing wrong

[00:17:45] and they were basically ready to freaking shoot him.

[00:17:48] Yep.

[00:17:50] As the riots going on too...

[00:17:53] Yeah during the riot he's driving yeah.

[00:17:56] As much as I don't like Tareese

[00:17:58] and I still contend that he's a rapper

[00:18:00] or a hip hop artist of some kind

[00:18:01] I'm sure he's released some music somewhere.

[00:18:03] I don't think so.

[00:18:04] I think he did.

[00:18:05] He actually put in a solid performance here.

[00:18:08] Well for the first half of the film anyway.

[00:18:10] What?

[00:18:11] What are you talking about?

[00:18:11] On the other hand there's the Heist film.

[00:18:14] Oh but you love Heist films.

[00:18:16] I do enjoy them sometimes.

[00:18:18] Radiota and his sons.

[00:18:20] Why not what he did sing?

[00:18:22] See told you I knew it.

[00:18:24] Murray's no dummy.

[00:18:24] You keep telling me that he didn't.

[00:18:26] I know he did.

[00:18:26] Murray knows stuff.

[00:18:27] Anyway Radiota and his sons one of whom is played by

[00:18:31] Baby Eastwood Scott

[00:18:34] try to steal ten million dollars in platinum

[00:18:37] from a catalytic converter factory or something.

[00:18:40] Mm-hmm.

[00:18:41] Of course when the riots happen

[00:18:44] they find a perfect cover for their crime.

[00:18:46] I really enjoyed the late Radiota

[00:18:48] in his last film apparently

[00:18:49] I've heard that before

[00:18:52] being a cruel heartless badass one last time

[00:18:57] nobody plays scary dudes like Ray.

[00:19:00] Except for Joe Pesci.

[00:19:02] He's more funny.

[00:19:04] He's a clown.

[00:19:05] He amuses me.

[00:19:05] Oh good fellows he was pretty scary.

[00:19:08] Say that to his face Murma.

[00:19:09] Yeah that's right.

[00:19:10] I will I'll just have a gun in his hand.

[00:19:12] Or a knife or a spoon or whatever you use.

[00:19:15] The problem I had was when these two stories came together.

[00:19:19] What?

[00:19:20] Of course Tyrese is the only one to stop this evil gang

[00:19:24] then it became another die-hard ripoff

[00:19:27] and Tyrese is no John McLean.

[00:19:30] He's twice as good.

[00:19:31] The action-packed action was fun but ridiculous

[00:19:36] much like those Fast and Furious movies

[00:19:38] he's fond of doing.

[00:19:40] Sorry it's just a man.

[00:19:43] Tyrese is good but he's just a man.

[00:19:45] Alright.

[00:19:46] That's because of Ray because I love Ray.

[00:19:49] More Ray than anything else.

[00:19:51] More Ray than anything else.

[00:19:52] I actually had no problem with when it got to the heist part

[00:19:54] and I like that they had the

[00:19:57] there was kind of the dynamic between the father and the son

[00:20:00] with Tyrese's character and the father and son with Scott Eastwood

[00:20:04] and I'd like to say

[00:20:05] I hate Scott Eastwood

[00:20:07] but this is the first time I've ever watched him in a movie

[00:20:10] where I'm like

[00:20:10] I don't hate him so much.

[00:20:11] Maybe he's not that bad.

[00:20:12] Yeah.

[00:20:13] He's just had some role because he was actually pretty good in this.

[00:20:16] Surprisingly everyone in this was good.

[00:20:18] Everybody this was very well acted top to bottom

[00:20:20] but Tyrese Gibson was amazing in this.

[00:20:24] The way that he carried himself

[00:20:25] like when you could just see him

[00:20:27] he's trying not to draw attention to himself

[00:20:31] the way he's always hunched over

[00:20:33] the way he walked the way he

[00:20:35] the way he just never looked anybody in the eye

[00:20:38] he's just trying to do his own thing.

[00:20:40] Yeah.

[00:20:41] He's trying to make a better life for his son

[00:20:43] and he's just trying not to get into any trouble whatsoever

[00:20:46] but when the time comes

[00:20:47] and someone needs some help

[00:20:50] he's there for him.

[00:20:51] He's the man.

[00:20:52] So it's it's

[00:20:54] it's such a eye-opening

[00:20:58] role because I did not know Tyrese had it in him.

[00:21:01] Yeah.

[00:21:02] Because he didn't have to say anything.

[00:21:04] Just his presence on the screen

[00:21:06] the way that he carried himself

[00:21:07] was like told the story without him saying anything.

[00:21:11] This was such a good movie

[00:21:16] and I almost wish it was two separate movies

[00:21:19] because I kind of want to know more about

[00:21:22] his character and his son

[00:21:24] and follow that a little more.

[00:21:27] The way that it meshed was okay.

[00:21:29] I didn't hate it.

[00:21:30] I just thought that maybe there was a better movie

[00:21:33] if that if this if it wasn't a heist film.

[00:21:36] Yeah, you know, I think the tough thing is

[00:21:38] is that it happens on the Rodney King event.

[00:21:42] So I mean it's good in the sense that

[00:21:44] it ties it to a cover.

[00:21:45] It's a good concept but I'm not sure that

[00:21:47] well to me if it finished in the factory

[00:21:50] and that boom cut the black that's it

[00:21:53] movies over like it

[00:21:54] it was all there fine but then the final

[00:21:57] like chase through like the empty streets

[00:22:00] and the yeah that part was pretty redone.

[00:22:03] It was stupid but anyway

[00:22:05] it's still okay and normally that's

[00:22:07] Bryson either saying that yeah, you know what

[00:22:09] for some reason I didn't mind like I hate

[00:22:11] chases but I was like whatever at that point

[00:22:14] but like I agree with Marie I think

[00:22:16] that they should have ended it there.

[00:22:17] I think they should have ended it in that final show

[00:22:20] down in the factory and they didn't

[00:22:23] need a stupid chasing probably didn't

[00:22:26] but at the end of the day just like everybody else here

[00:22:29] I mean it was it was definitely Matt.

[00:22:31] I just can't say enough about Tyrese Gibson

[00:22:33] though I'm I'm actually looking forward to him

[00:22:36] getting more roles where he can actually do

[00:22:39] some acting because you know you're in it's

[00:22:42] yeah his next thing is fast X part two

[00:22:44] okay what other than fast X part two

[00:22:47] remember it was a cliffhanger right so that

[00:22:49] was only the first that's what they should if

[00:22:51] they call it fast X part two that's going

[00:22:53] to be that's gonna make it a man right there

[00:22:55] because that's a great way.

[00:22:56] It was the last time I know it was the first man

[00:23:00] ever for the fast series because the end of

[00:23:02] the last I am looking forward to more fast

[00:23:04] movies yeah the end of the last one you all

[00:23:06] supposedly died but then they're making a second one

[00:23:08] so obviously they didn't die so I don't know

[00:23:10] because you're a complete idiot that's why

[00:23:12] by the way yeah I'm sure Tyrese will be back

[00:23:14] with that one too so just so you know

[00:23:16] we're gonna see a hell of a lot more of

[00:23:18] Tyrese Gibson he's got one two three four

[00:23:21] five six seven eight nine ten I'm hoping

[00:23:25] this is the first in a trend of roles that are

[00:23:27] actually good yeah that's the only thing

[00:23:29] holding him back right now as he's chosen

[00:23:32] some terrible well that's part of the problem

[00:23:35] yeah he's making money but yeah that's

[00:23:36] the whole thing is money

[00:23:39] Tyrese?

[00:23:42] Tyrese Darnall Gibson is an American R&B

[00:23:45] singer and actor from Los Angeles

[00:23:47] California he signed with RCA records

[00:23:50] in 1998 and released his debut single

[00:23:53] Nobody Else in August of that year

[00:23:56] there you go see the Mer don't question

[00:23:58] the Mer I don't remember him

[00:24:00] I didn't even do the research I just remembered him

[00:24:02] as a singer before he was ever an actor

[00:24:04] you know what so apparently they

[00:24:06] don't say rapper they say R&B

[00:24:08] singer I don't know I was close

[00:24:09] you know what I'm gonna go get his album

[00:24:12] right after we get off this podcast

[00:24:14] Pods Poods Poods

[00:24:16] apparently he's had quite a few albums

[00:24:18] he's had 2000 wants he's had I want to

[00:24:20] go there alter ego open invitation

[00:24:22] black rose

[00:24:25] Tyrese was his first album

[00:24:28] self titled holy crap

[00:24:30] then he's got some EPs too

[00:24:33] there's just not enough Tyrese to go around

[00:24:35] right now in this room

[00:24:36] and he's looking

[00:24:39] he's looking very

[00:24:40] he's looking very stoic on the

[00:24:43] on the cover of every one of those

[00:24:45] of course he is

[00:24:47] and see him smile too much

[00:24:48] anyway yeah he was okay

[00:24:51] he's like we were in a four dollar

[00:24:53] or something I didn't think I liked this film that much

[00:24:55] but yeah but it was okay how did you

[00:24:57] not love his performance though

[00:24:59] he was so good

[00:25:00] I guess at the first like two thirds of the movie

[00:25:02] with his stuff with him and his son

[00:25:05] was really good but just forget about everything else

[00:25:07] and then the action stuff started

[00:25:09] and I'm like I'm sorry there's like ten of them with guns

[00:25:11] and he has a but they're all stupid people

[00:25:13] so I don't know I didn't think it was

[00:25:16] so unreasonable

[00:25:17] the way that all that went down

[00:25:19] action movie at the end so

[00:25:20] what you guys hate anyway

[00:25:22] it's true

[00:25:23] I mean I enjoy that but

[00:25:27] alright well Tyrese just keep giving it to his baby

[00:25:30] and he is a triple threat

[00:25:31] because he's also a producer

[00:25:33] yes there we go

[00:25:35] next up we have

[00:25:38] Reagan everybody's a producer Jim

[00:25:40] Reagan or as I like to call it

[00:25:42] the Ron and Nancy story

[00:25:45] is that what you want to call it

[00:25:46] that's all it was

[00:25:47] what did you expect

[00:25:50] oh okay well

[00:25:51] I thought I'd send her more on his actual term as a president

[00:25:54] but they kind of glossed over a lot of that

[00:25:56] well they glossed over the bad stuff

[00:25:58] that's for sure

[00:25:59] it covers a life for Ronald Reagan

[00:26:01] the 40th president of the United States

[00:26:04] as we were watching this

[00:26:06] it occurred to us that it was either

[00:26:08] a two hour political ad for the Republican Party

[00:26:11] or a religious conversion film

[00:26:14] you can see it in Judge for Yourself

[00:26:18] one thing is clear

[00:26:19] the filmmakers sure

[00:26:21] loved the gipper

[00:26:22] I kept waiting for the halo

[00:26:25] and angel wings to show up

[00:26:27] because according to them

[00:26:28] Ronald Reagan was a complete saint

[00:26:31] those of us who lived through the

[00:26:33] 80s would disagree

[00:26:35] while I would admit he did some good things

[00:26:37] he was way too obsessed

[00:26:39] with communism and mother-right

[00:26:41] Russia

[00:26:44] I did find it fascinating

[00:26:46] that he was the president

[00:26:47] of the screen actors guild

[00:26:49] and helped to create a better working environment

[00:26:51] for working actors

[00:26:52] even if his own career sucked

[00:26:55] this film glosses over

[00:26:56] any negative events in

[00:26:59] Reagan's life including when he was almost

[00:27:01] killed in an assassination attempt

[00:27:03] surviving this

[00:27:05] apparently gave him supernatural

[00:27:07] power

[00:27:07] I don't even know why they

[00:27:08] had according to the story

[00:27:10] Ronald Reagan was solely responsible

[00:27:13] for the downfall of the Soviet Union

[00:27:15] and communism

[00:27:15] it was just him one guy

[00:27:18] and apparently the iran contra situation

[00:27:21] was no big deal

[00:27:23] not to say it wasn't entertaining

[00:27:26] if you try to believe

[00:27:28] it's amazing how they just literally

[00:27:29] touched upon that for like

[00:27:31] if you blinked you missed it

[00:27:33] there's all of a sudden Ali Norse on there

[00:27:35] for a half a second and then

[00:27:38] let's move on to something else

[00:27:39] there's nothing to see here

[00:27:41] but they just put it in so they can say

[00:27:43] oh we're fair and balanced

[00:27:44] like Fox News

[00:27:46] if you truly believe Reagan was a great man

[00:27:49] then you can enjoy this nostalgic fluff piece

[00:27:52] what I don't get is

[00:27:53] why the story is told from the point of

[00:27:55] view of a former Russian spy

[00:27:58] played by John Voight

[00:28:00] in a really bad Russian accent

[00:28:02] much as

[00:28:03] really good makeup to make a lucky hundred

[00:28:05] much as I loved the 80s this was a rage

[00:28:07] okay

[00:28:09] well

[00:28:10] you want me to go? I don't care

[00:28:12] I gotta get this out I'm sorry

[00:28:14] so Murray stole a lot of my thunder which is perfectly okay

[00:28:17] because I think this is gonna be unanimous

[00:28:19] I wasn't sure exactly what this was

[00:28:21] was it a made for TV movie

[00:28:24] Republican campaign

[00:28:25] dressed up as a conversion film

[00:28:26] or a made for TV Christian conversion

[00:28:29] film dressed up as a Republican campaign

[00:28:31] what I do know

[00:28:32] is that having a superpower

[00:28:35] evil spy badly presented

[00:28:37] by a terrible Russian accent to John

[00:28:39] Voight did not make this

[00:28:41] any better

[00:28:42] I'm actually not sure what it was

[00:28:45] was it the terrible

[00:28:47] one on one conversations with

[00:28:49] Reagan and Nancy or

[00:28:51] the token Reagan

[00:28:53] helping black athletes

[00:28:54] scene I'm thinking

[00:29:00] like just

[00:29:01] to prove that the Republicans

[00:29:03] are not racist

[00:29:05] in any way shape or form like that

[00:29:07] that scene alone just made me infuriated

[00:29:09] because it's like you know what we should just put that

[00:29:11] in there because you know where Reagan wasn't a racist

[00:29:14] or was it the

[00:29:15] terrible music and score

[00:29:17] cause originally I thought they had

[00:29:19] no music budget cause

[00:29:21] traveling through three decades

[00:29:23] and of thousands of options

[00:29:25] of music they could have played in this other than

[00:29:27] the canned crap that they had

[00:29:29] but apparently once we get to the

[00:29:31] 80s apparently they had

[00:29:33] budget to pay for Phil Collins

[00:29:34] and a confusion it's an awesome view

[00:29:36] yeah suffice to say this movie is horrible

[00:29:39] I don't want to give it any more airtime

[00:29:41] except to say

[00:29:43] the simple word that would explain

[00:29:45] this movie to anybody who's actually seen it

[00:29:47] is absolute rage oh wait no I do have

[00:29:49] one more thing to say

[00:29:51] Murray I am so sorry

[00:29:52] that I asked you and paid for your ticket

[00:29:55] to go see this movie

[00:29:56] I'm glad you paid for the tickets

[00:29:57] I did mention I didn't want to see it

[00:30:00] you did say you didn't want to see it

[00:30:01] but I didn't want you to suffer alone

[00:30:03] well this is what BFFs do

[00:30:05] and you came to my neighborhood so

[00:30:07] okay so the first warning sign

[00:30:10] is it's made by MJM

[00:30:12] entertainment group

[00:30:13] and they specialize in

[00:30:15] conversion themes, conversion films

[00:30:18] things like that

[00:30:20] um and yeah

[00:30:22] and it's just

[00:30:23] uh

[00:30:24] anytime you see MJM

[00:30:26] entertainment group just run in the other direction

[00:30:29] do not watch it

[00:30:31] there it's pure propaganda

[00:30:34] and so is this

[00:30:36] I've never seen a movie

[00:30:37] that wants

[00:30:39] that wants to show

[00:30:41] so badly that yeah we're

[00:30:43] we're totally balanced because

[00:30:45] we're gonna show you the bad stuff

[00:30:46] and the good stuff but they literally spend

[00:30:49] so little time on the bad stuff

[00:30:51] like it's like

[00:30:53] one little line and then they move on

[00:30:56] to something else so that you don't even know

[00:30:58] really what it was

[00:30:59] they just kind of bring up

[00:31:02] the

[00:31:03] concept of it really quickly and move on

[00:31:06] and you're like what

[00:31:07] like but you know if you grew up

[00:31:09] in the 80s you absolutely know

[00:31:11] what they were talking about and they did

[00:31:13] touch upon these things why would they even

[00:31:15] do that though if they're gonna have this

[00:31:17] total puff piece on Reagan

[00:31:19] why would they even do that

[00:31:21] this is this was just

[00:31:23] aggravating from start to finish

[00:31:25] I hated

[00:31:26] every single second of it

[00:31:28] I don't like total puff pieces

[00:31:31] I don't understand

[00:31:33] why anybody would make something

[00:31:35] like this I guess

[00:31:37] it's because you know

[00:31:39] because the elections coming up I guess

[00:31:41] oh yeah this is this is all

[00:31:43] this is all politically charged

[00:31:44] but it's just garbage and

[00:31:47] why why would anybody

[00:31:49] agree to be in this garbage

[00:31:51] like MGM Entertainment

[00:31:53] why would Dennis Quaid go

[00:31:55] like what

[00:31:57] I don't understand

[00:31:59] yeah obviously paid him but I think Murray

[00:32:01] did a bit of research did you see that

[00:32:03] yeah well I had

[00:32:05] history channels they were on free preview

[00:32:07] for like the last month or so

[00:32:09] right and they have stuff I've been watching

[00:32:10] they have a series of Morgan Freeman talking about great escapes

[00:32:13] like stuff like that I watched but

[00:32:14] one of the things I saw was something about

[00:32:16] the holy holy

[00:32:18] wars holy this holy that

[00:32:20] hosted by Dennis Quaid

[00:32:21] so yeah basically he's now hosting

[00:32:24] religious

[00:32:25] okay well I guess that makes a lot more sense

[00:32:28] maybe he and I'm pretty sure he's a Republican

[00:32:30] and you know John Void

[00:32:32] as the KGB agent was

[00:32:34] that's enough to rage right there

[00:32:36] and that and choosing

[00:32:38] that is the the

[00:32:40] narration and I mean

[00:32:42] it's obviously completely fabricated

[00:32:45] there's no way that this guy was following

[00:32:47] Reagan from when he was an actor

[00:32:48] all the way through his political career

[00:32:50] and that he had such admiration

[00:32:53] for him like this is all

[00:32:55] just absolute fiction

[00:32:57] why did they care anyway like they

[00:32:58] they said present day but it couldn't have been

[00:33:00] 2024 maybe it was

[00:33:02] the 90s but anyway our 2000s

[00:33:05] but they're yeah the guy

[00:33:06] his old his one question was

[00:33:08] why did the Soviet Union fall

[00:33:10] and that became a two hour movie

[00:33:12] Ronald Reagan okay

[00:33:14] then 100% blame one

[00:33:16] guys and he said well

[00:33:17] was it also tried to kill him like no

[00:33:19] like well yeah

[00:33:22] maybe they should have tried yeah this movie

[00:33:24] was so completely horrible

[00:33:27] like

[00:33:28] this okay kid can we

[00:33:30] just back the bus up just one

[00:33:32] second is this

[00:33:34] now the worst movie you've ever seen

[00:33:36] can we please get over

[00:33:39] no

[00:33:39] Kevin Spacey's

[00:33:41] life of David Gale's

[00:33:43] just so we get that out of the way

[00:33:46] yeah because this people

[00:33:48] who are listening that is in Bryce's

[00:33:50] opinion the worst movie that's ever been made

[00:33:52] and he has actually seen this movie

[00:33:54] Reagan so I'm like

[00:33:55] okay dude if that's

[00:33:58] Reagan's awful if that's the hill you want to

[00:34:00] die on the life of David

[00:34:01] Gale is the worst movie

[00:34:04] Reagan's definitely making the list of

[00:34:06] worst movies of the year this year there's no

[00:34:08] question but not a

[00:34:10] will be a you know it'll make

[00:34:12] it would be high up on the worst of

[00:34:14] all time but there's only one number one

[00:34:16] okay yeah that's still the hill

[00:34:18] you're gonna die on okay it's

[00:34:20] it's the worst yeah okay

[00:34:21] alright just so you know

[00:34:24] okay

[00:34:25] I think you made me watch it again

[00:34:27] to do I did yeah it was still the worst

[00:34:30] movie I'd ever seen

[00:34:31] okay well I think

[00:34:33] it tries to be clever and it's not

[00:34:36] I think you should watch it again with me

[00:34:37] yeah why you like it

[00:34:39] oh there you go

[00:34:40] you might not hate it yeah you'll like it

[00:34:43] because it's not the worst movie ever made

[00:34:44] it is the worst movie ever made but

[00:34:47] I still think Murray's gonna like it

[00:34:50] I think Reagan I think

[00:34:51] my dear back yeah there you go

[00:34:53] anyways alright okay so

[00:34:55] our last movie that we saw in cinema

[00:34:57] yeah it's called

[00:34:59] Across the River and Into the Trees

[00:35:02] to Grandmother's House we go

[00:35:04] no the grandmother's house we go

[00:35:06] was not that's not right

[00:35:08] no it's just across the river

[00:35:10] and through the wood

[00:35:11] no into the trees no woods

[00:35:14] it's just trees alright

[00:35:15] so love story

[00:35:18] built on two people with

[00:35:20] mutual interests and a passion

[00:35:22] for life and each other

[00:35:24] with terrific writing

[00:35:26] which draws you into this love

[00:35:28] affair can be so

[00:35:30] romantic

[00:35:32] oh but that's not

[00:35:34] what this was no in fact

[00:35:37] through the

[00:35:38] whole beginning of this film I was annoyed

[00:35:40] by the whole concept of

[00:35:42] the introduction of said

[00:35:43] love interest and I'm putting that in heavy quotes

[00:35:46] where most of the

[00:35:47] transition scenes were

[00:35:50] unbelievable like a

[00:35:52] Victrola just sitting there in an open

[00:35:54] market with a record on

[00:35:56] it or ordering drinks delivered

[00:35:58] at one minute before the bar closes

[00:36:00] and everybody leaves

[00:36:02] and some young lady

[00:36:04] in her early 20s fawning over

[00:36:06] an unlikable character in

[00:36:08] Leaves driver's character

[00:36:09] the whole love interest was

[00:36:11] taking me completely out of

[00:36:14] this story now let's

[00:36:16] back up a bit to the beginning

[00:36:18] back up we meet Leaves

[00:36:20] character

[00:36:22] who's a colonel in the

[00:36:24] US Army and

[00:36:26] he's in

[00:36:29] super hot

[00:36:30] and I mean super hot

[00:36:32] and cut shape but

[00:36:33] supposedly has heart disease and is dying

[00:36:36] so you instantly

[00:36:37] get the opinion based on

[00:36:40] how and what

[00:36:41] he's saying that he does not

[00:36:44] intend on coming back after his

[00:36:46] hiatus to Venice

[00:36:47] he's joined by a sergeant

[00:36:49] sent by his doctor

[00:36:51] to basically make sure he lives

[00:36:53] the tension is high

[00:36:55] between those two

[00:36:57] but so often soon

[00:37:00] as the story progresses

[00:37:01] instantly

[00:37:03] when we get to Venice

[00:37:05] he finds this young lady

[00:37:08] who drives him

[00:37:09] to Venice on her gondola

[00:37:11] and the romance side of the story

[00:37:13] starts to unfold albeit

[00:37:15] not really but it

[00:37:17] really comes across that our young lady

[00:37:19] who has daddy issues

[00:37:21] and marriage issues

[00:37:23] is smitten or conveniently

[00:37:25] becomes smitten with the colonel

[00:37:27] which

[00:37:29] unlike the disparity in

[00:37:31] age we discussed last week

[00:37:33] with between the temples

[00:37:35] which seemed natural this comes off

[00:37:37] with a much creepier vibe

[00:37:39] but

[00:37:41] mostly coming from the young lady

[00:37:43] which is a little surprising

[00:37:45] and I mean if you're

[00:37:47] planning on offing yourself

[00:37:49] why not spend your last weekend

[00:37:51] with a hot lady

[00:37:53] I mean right

[00:37:55] sounds like a

[00:37:57] good plan right?

[00:37:59] and it is said that this is

[00:38:01] Hemingway's worst book

[00:38:03] and as I was halfway through this

[00:38:05] I was thinking it's also

[00:38:07] the worst adaptation of his work on film

[00:38:10] but as the story continues

[00:38:12] we get to understand

[00:38:14] there is a lot of butts

[00:38:16] there was so much butts

[00:38:18] so yeah

[00:38:21] as it continues

[00:38:22] and I start to understand

[00:38:24] the deeper story and why

[00:38:26] the colonel is going to Venice

[00:38:27] that there was not

[00:38:30] real romance

[00:38:32] from his perspective

[00:38:33] and probably also not from hers

[00:38:36] the ending was perfect

[00:38:37] for the story that they spun

[00:38:39] and in a strange twist of fate

[00:38:41] or perhaps a strange twist

[00:38:43] in writing the last quarter

[00:38:46] of this film

[00:38:48] saved it from me from a raging romance

[00:38:50] saga

[00:38:50] leave was great

[00:38:53] the shooting in the romantic city

[00:38:56] of Venice was picturesque and beautifully

[00:38:58] shot and the music was very

[00:39:00] well placed throughout the film

[00:39:01] thank goodness for strong finishes

[00:39:03] which doesn't happen very often

[00:39:05] the saved it from being a rage

[00:39:07] this was a math for me

[00:39:08] the last quarter of this film I was

[00:39:11] fully enjoying

[00:39:12] fully enjoying

[00:39:13] Lyft Shriver was very very good in this role

[00:39:16] this might be one of the best

[00:39:18] things I've ever seen him do

[00:39:20] as far as the role goes in his performance

[00:39:22] yeah for sure

[00:39:24] he was really really good

[00:39:26] I actually didn't have a problem with

[00:39:28] the romance because

[00:39:30] I never looked at it the way you looked at it

[00:39:32] from the beginning like as soon as

[00:39:34] it was introduced it sounds like you were starting to roll your eyes

[00:39:36] I was totally rolling my eyes

[00:39:38] I understand that but I wasn't

[00:39:39] mostly from her perspective

[00:39:41] I had a little bit of faith in Hemingway

[00:39:43] having said that apparently

[00:39:45] in the book they actually do have sex

[00:39:48] nice

[00:39:49] sorry no I mean the opposite of nice

[00:39:52] I haven't read the book so I don't

[00:39:53] know that's a fact but this is what

[00:39:55] I've heard through the grapevine

[00:39:57] at any rate I have

[00:39:59] the problem I had with this

[00:40:01] is I realize why they did

[00:40:03] the 4-3 aspect ratio at least I think

[00:40:05] I realize I don't know that I do realize

[00:40:07] it's because it's because

[00:40:09] no it's because

[00:40:11] you know he's at the end of his life

[00:40:13] he feels things are closing in on him

[00:40:15] so I

[00:40:16] he feels almost claustrophobic and

[00:40:19] I get that

[00:40:20] but if you're shooting Venice

[00:40:23] just open the bloody

[00:40:25] screen out you're shooting one of the most beautiful

[00:40:27] cities in the world

[00:40:29] let me see the

[00:40:31] gosh darn city

[00:40:32] why are you cutting off the edges

[00:40:35] it was so beautifully

[00:40:36] shot how nice would that

[00:40:38] have been to watch this in glory

[00:40:40] in glory and I'm about to be

[00:40:42] awesome so instead of

[00:40:44] cause whatever you are going for

[00:40:48] it didn't matter

[00:40:49] it did it wasn't

[00:40:51] effective it just had me

[00:40:53] a little bit frustrated that

[00:40:55] you're cutting off the edges of what I

[00:40:56] of this picturesque

[00:41:00] wonderful city

[00:41:01] like to look at it

[00:41:03] is so beautiful and I'm sitting here

[00:41:05] looking at a third of what I should be

[00:41:07] looking at so that annoyed me

[00:41:10] but

[00:41:11] everything else did not

[00:41:12] I was very very

[00:41:14] involved in this movie

[00:41:16] I love Liv Schreiber in this movie

[00:41:19] he's never been better

[00:41:21] yep the story

[00:41:23] was you know it

[00:41:24] and yeah it has been said that this is Hemingway's

[00:41:27] worst novel but it just shows you

[00:41:29] what a good writer Hemingway was

[00:41:30] is what it does

[00:41:31] oh sorry keep going

[00:41:33] and at the end of the day I mean

[00:41:35] I don't have to

[00:41:37] fawn over Schreiber's performance too much

[00:41:40] but everybody in this was very good

[00:41:42] yep

[00:41:44] her fawning over

[00:41:46] him made sense

[00:41:48] because of the situation

[00:41:50] that she was in as well

[00:41:53] did it

[00:41:54] it did

[00:41:55] because it didn't have to be

[00:41:58] it didn't have to be him

[00:41:59] I know all that

[00:42:01] it was too overtly

[00:42:05] like I want to bang you

[00:42:07] and it should have been

[00:42:08] I get that from her

[00:42:09] and I get the way that he reacted too

[00:42:12] well in his case

[00:42:13] he was being respectful

[00:42:15] and he was just enjoying her company

[00:42:17] but to me that whole scene about how she was

[00:42:21] infatuated with him

[00:42:22] because she had all kinds of other people

[00:42:24] I'd buy it

[00:42:25] I didn't buy it

[00:42:26] I didn't buy the way they were delivering it

[00:42:28] to me it was the delivery of her character

[00:42:31] not that she didn't act

[00:42:33] well in that character

[00:42:34] but I didn't like how it was delivered

[00:42:37] I think they could have done that

[00:42:39] in a more

[00:42:41] platonic way

[00:42:42] that would have seen more natural

[00:42:43] she was eyeballing his penis half the movie

[00:42:46] and I'm like no this is not

[00:42:48] and why not

[00:42:49] they showed how hot he was

[00:42:52] because I was eyeballing his penis too

[00:42:54] he was pretty hot

[00:42:56] I'm not gonna lie

[00:42:57] leave strawberry if I'm gonna be gay

[00:43:00] maybe it'll be with you

[00:43:01] because he was pretty hot

[00:43:03] I'm not gonna lie

[00:43:04] anyways we get to the same conclusion

[00:43:06] it was meh

[00:43:08] maybe it was a higher meh for me than you

[00:43:10] because at no point did I think

[00:43:11] that I could possibly give this a rage

[00:43:14] from the opening sequence on

[00:43:15] I was sucked in

[00:43:17] I wanted to know more about this character

[00:43:19] and as it went on

[00:43:21] we learned more about this character

[00:43:22] and things did develop

[00:43:24] and I liked it ended perfectly

[00:43:27] didn't it?

[00:43:28] if it had ended something different

[00:43:31] it could have changed for me

[00:43:32] I suppose you know

[00:43:33] we could be having a different conversation

[00:43:37] for sure

[00:43:38] but it really was a perfect ending

[00:43:41] I enjoyed it a lot

[00:43:43] but yeah it was meh

[00:43:46] I enjoyed it a lot

[00:43:47] I just sat there

[00:43:49] and I just enjoyed looking at the movie

[00:43:52] too it was just beautiful to look at

[00:43:54] this was a really really

[00:43:55] lovely movie to watch

[00:43:57] yeah it was a very beautiful watch

[00:43:59] in 4-3

[00:44:02] 4-3

[00:44:03] WHY

[00:44:06] you know what that means meh

[00:44:07] I don't know what does it mean

[00:44:09] you know hit some buttons

[00:44:12] that's what it meant

[00:44:13] I'm gonna rewind a bit too

[00:44:16] REEG

[00:44:17] cause he didn't give a

[00:44:18] cause he didn't give me a chance to do it last time

[00:44:21] and it's

[00:44:22] oh that was for Regal

[00:44:25] Ronald Regan

[00:44:26] yeah we're so excited to talk about

[00:44:30] Hemingway

[00:44:31] to get off the poop

[00:44:32] tear down that wall

[00:44:34] tear down

[00:44:35] and

[00:44:40] disassemble your country

[00:44:41] sure we'll do that

[00:44:43] alright Ronnie since you said it

[00:44:46] let's just put an end to communism

[00:44:48] Murray is winding me up

[00:44:49] for my next segment

[00:44:51] hey that's not

[00:44:54] this has nothing to do with you

[00:44:56] there Jim

[00:44:57] maybe he said earlier in the podcast

[00:45:00] there's something

[00:45:01] that's gonna give us more deets

[00:45:03] Raymond Allen Leoda

[00:45:06] okay

[00:45:06] Ray Ray was born on December 18th

[00:45:09] 1954

[00:45:11] and Newark, New Jersey

[00:45:13] was adopted

[00:45:14] he died in Santo Domingo

[00:45:17] Dominican Republic on May 26th

[00:45:20] 2022 from heart failure

[00:45:21] not a bad place to die

[00:45:22] in between he had an amazing film career

[00:45:25] and played many iconic roles

[00:45:27] that's true

[00:45:28] he remains one of my favorite all time actors

[00:45:31] now

[00:45:32] yeah he died in 2022

[00:45:35] I have so far seen

[00:45:37] two films that came out

[00:45:39] after he passed away

[00:45:41] that's right

[00:45:42] and all there have been four films

[00:45:45] that were released in the past two years

[00:45:47] four

[00:45:48] according to the dates

[00:45:50] Leoda passed away four weeks after

[00:45:53] the film 1992 was completed

[00:45:56] oh okay so it was his last film

[00:45:58] yeah unless he didn't want to

[00:46:00] wait there's more

[00:46:01] what

[00:46:01] it's on a shelf for two and a half years

[00:46:04] Ray was also in

[00:46:06] cocaine bear

[00:46:07] fools paradise and dangerous waters

[00:46:11] unfortunately these final projects

[00:46:12] in his career were not exactly very good films

[00:46:15] no

[00:46:16] maybe at the end he was just taking projects to keep working

[00:46:19] I'm quite

[00:46:20] 1992 came out last

[00:46:21] I will admit, actually it was

[00:46:23] who actually came out yet or maybe just tricked the video

[00:46:26] but everything else has come out

[00:46:28] I enjoyed his sinister and heartless character in 1992

[00:46:32] the other one's not so much

[00:46:33] now

[00:46:35] according to the chronology

[00:46:37] the

[00:46:39] fools paradise

[00:46:41] was completed in 2018

[00:46:44] cocaine bear

[00:46:45] Ray the Oda died a week after

[00:46:48] he went in to do his

[00:46:50] dialogue replacement

[00:46:51] oh so it's touch ups

[00:46:53] touch ups so the movie was completed but he had to come back

[00:46:56] and do voice overs

[00:46:57] and he died a week after that

[00:46:59] and dangerous waters

[00:47:02] which was in Dominican Republic

[00:47:03] was where he was being filmed

[00:47:05] he died in the middle of filming

[00:47:07] the movie

[00:47:08] much like John Candy with that wagons east thing

[00:47:11] he was in the Dominican Republic to shoot the movie

[00:47:14] and he just died of heart failure

[00:47:15] so did they CGI him in for the last part

[00:47:17] I don't know if it ever came out

[00:47:18] wow not telling me

[00:47:20] dangerous waters that's the last thing on the IMDb

[00:47:24] 2023 it says

[00:47:26] he was the captain

[00:47:28] I have not seen that

[00:47:30] that's Charlie Day

[00:47:32] yes directed by

[00:47:33] and he's in it

[00:47:36] so was dangerous waters

[00:47:38] yeah that's the last thing on here

[00:47:39] he was the captain

[00:47:41] anyway yeah he was

[00:47:42] I don't know if he even finished his

[00:47:46] work

[00:47:47] I guess we'll have to see him

[00:47:49] I don't know that's a mountain

[00:47:51] anyway

[00:47:53] good fellas

[00:47:55] unlawful entry

[00:47:56] nobody played scary dudes

[00:47:58] better than they were

[00:48:00] even in his bad films

[00:48:02] he was always the best thing about them

[00:48:04] I really wish they would stop releasing

[00:48:07] crappy movies after the man had already died

[00:48:09] let him rest in peace Hollywood

[00:48:11] oh but finish their movie

[00:48:14] I didn't have to release it

[00:48:15] yeah you don't

[00:48:16] it's like ah Ray died

[00:48:18] this isn't up to snuff

[00:48:20] let's just dump it

[00:48:21] our main star died let's just not finish it

[00:48:24] yeah but the two movies that we saw

[00:48:26] I think both of them were man

[00:48:28] you gave Grizzly bear a man

[00:48:30] I love the main bear I thought it was a Mondo

[00:48:32] Grizzly bear

[00:48:34] go game bear on coke

[00:48:35] fool's paradise was actually okay

[00:48:37] it was kind of funny

[00:48:39] got Adrian Brody in it doesn't it

[00:48:42] don't tell Murray

[00:48:43] that's not a selling feature for me

[00:48:46] it's got Kenji Yong in it

[00:48:48] it's always funny

[00:48:49] Jason Sudakis Jason Bateman

[00:48:52] you loved the Jason

[00:48:53] Jason Bateman is like your favorite

[00:48:55] you're not making the point you think you are

[00:48:59] so far you said one name I actually

[00:49:02] like

[00:49:02] yeah Jason Bateman

[00:49:05] teen wolf 2

[00:49:06] that's right teen wolf 2

[00:49:08] don't get him started

[00:49:25] don't get him started

[00:49:37] I

[00:49:38] I

[00:49:41] I

[00:49:41] I love you

[00:49:46] alright

[00:49:47] it's not going to come as a surprise to anyone

[00:49:50] here but there's two

[00:49:54] two things in this world I can't stand

[00:49:58] people

[00:49:59] and sensitive of other people's culture

[00:50:01] and religious conversion films

[00:50:03] yes

[00:50:05] those are the two things

[00:50:06] those are two valid things to not

[00:50:09] be able to stand right

[00:50:10] but on top of that

[00:50:13] don't dress up a bio

[00:50:15] pic as

[00:50:16] as something that it's

[00:50:19] not like it's a

[00:50:20] it's a political

[00:50:22] like there's so much crap about this

[00:50:24] movie that if people

[00:50:27] like well before we went into it too Murray

[00:50:29] looking at this is like

[00:50:31] tens of tens of tens across the board

[00:50:33] I want to be

[00:50:34] I'm deep in there that's what happens with

[00:50:37] these reviews one was

[00:50:39] like a three and a half out of 10 the other

[00:50:41] all were all ten out of 10s yeah

[00:50:43] like this was a one out of

[00:50:44] zero out of 10 if I could give

[00:50:47] zero it would have got zero this was

[00:50:48] zero yeah

[00:50:51] negative one

[00:50:53] there's only there's only like one or two

[00:50:55] movies in the history of the world that are

[00:50:57] worse than it okay

[00:51:01] and both of them start Kevin

[00:51:03] Spacey one of the life

[00:51:05] of David Gale and nine lives

[00:51:06] oh I haven't seen nine lives so I can

[00:51:09] I have to reserve judgment on that one

[00:51:11] I can't even I have no intention of

[00:51:12] ever seeing it because

[00:51:14] you can't dare because it's already been done

[00:51:16] I know so yeah you know what

[00:51:19] fuck me with

[00:51:20] these Christian conversion films like just

[00:51:23] make a movie that's good

[00:51:25] on that note you know Creed is

[00:51:26] touring this

[00:51:29] Murray's gonna be have come

[00:51:30] in with a Creed cruiser next

[00:51:32] me

[00:51:35] that's all I got

[00:51:36] stop making them

[00:51:38] they won't

[00:51:42] there's one over

[00:52:02] what should my rage be

[00:52:05] this week well last weeks was

[00:52:06] so awful last week was awesome

[00:52:08] thing you come out with is gonna be

[00:52:10] on rage for cineplex that wasn't

[00:52:12] a rage it was an

[00:52:14] it was an update on a previous

[00:52:16] by the way you know what my rage

[00:52:18] is my rage is is that even

[00:52:20] though that was that happened

[00:52:22] it didn't happen immediately I went to go

[00:52:24] buy some tickets

[00:52:26] and I had to use one of my free

[00:52:28] because it doesn't start until September

[00:52:30] 17

[00:52:32] which I didn't read the fine print

[00:52:34] so my rage is fine print

[00:52:36] there you go

[00:52:37] this is like that song that

[00:52:40] September 17

[00:52:41] and then finally it's gonna be the way it's supposed to be

[00:52:44] in the way it always should have been

[00:52:45] remember that show with what's her name

[00:52:48] Shirley and lamb chop

[00:52:50] I don't know what the show is but yeah

[00:52:52] yeah I remember lamb chop is the puppet

[00:52:54] yeah so this is like that

[00:52:55] song they used to sing at the end of it

[00:52:58] this is the rage that doesn't

[00:53:00] and because it goes on

[00:53:02] and on my friend

[00:53:04] someone started raging

[00:53:06] for

[00:53:08] because something something something

[00:53:10] just because it is the rage

[00:53:13] that never ends

[00:53:15] right

[00:53:16] it's gonna come to September and something's gonna go wrong

[00:53:19] exactly

[00:53:20] sherry whatever

[00:53:22] I remember the lamb chop

[00:53:24] yeah lamb chop and the puppet

[00:53:26] sherry louis

[00:53:28] alright and lamb chop

[00:53:29] yes the most of all the chops

[00:53:32] that's right

[00:53:33] best of the chops

[00:53:35] chops are terrible

[00:53:37] lamb

[00:53:39] stop

[00:53:41] how did we get to this in my rage

[00:53:43] stop it

[00:53:45] well there's never

[00:53:47] it will end on September 17

[00:53:49] cause finally they'll do it right

[00:53:51] I don't know if that's coming

[00:53:52] people need an update on what I'm talking about

[00:53:54] no they don't care but you know what

[00:53:57] we're gonna find out

[00:53:59] cause I'm sure you're gonna bring it up again

[00:54:01] no now I'll be done with it

[00:54:03] because now I didn't realize

[00:54:05] at the time that I wasn't gonna be immediate

[00:54:07] and then I went to purchase some tickets

[00:54:09] so then I had to buy

[00:54:11] one free ticket

[00:54:13] one 999 ticket

[00:54:15] and then I had to

[00:54:16] I couldn't buy another 999 ticket

[00:54:19] cause that took up my two tickets there

[00:54:22] and then I had to buy another

[00:54:23] seniors ticket for my mother for 11 bucks

[00:54:26] just use your free ones

[00:54:27] well I could have used another free one

[00:54:29] but I don't want to use them all

[00:54:31] you know what

[00:54:34] I'm changing my rage

[00:54:35] it's Bryce again

[00:54:36] I like to have my free tickets

[00:54:39] for what reason

[00:54:40] so I can use them later

[00:54:42] for what reason

[00:54:43] eventually they'll be used

[00:54:45] as someone with a financial background

[00:54:48] time value of money is important

[00:54:50] and you're spending your hard earned cash

[00:54:52] which could be your ticket ends on

[00:54:54] horse betting or whatever

[00:54:56] eventually ticket prices will go up

[00:54:58] and then I'll look like a genius cause I'll have all these free tickets

[00:55:00] I already have

[00:55:01] I don't think so

[00:55:04] here's the one I'm thinking you're just gonna drop dead

[00:55:06] like Ray Leota and then you're not gonna ever get to use it

[00:55:08] then you'll have 300 free movies in your account

[00:55:10] yeah that's right and then

[00:55:12] you put that in your pipe and smoke it

[00:55:14] just might

[00:55:18] was that your actual rage or did I distract you

[00:55:21] wow that was my rage

[00:55:23] nobody knows what his rage was

[00:55:24] I'll tell you what my rage was gonna be until you got me off

[00:55:27] on that tangent

[00:55:28] I don't know how you even did it but you did it

[00:55:30] I just mentioned not what last week's was about

[00:55:32] the un-rage

[00:55:35] then I remembered

[00:55:37] that I went into buy

[00:55:40] anyways

[00:55:41] you know what

[00:55:42] let's just leave that as my rage

[00:55:44] my other rage was

[00:55:45] if I'm gonna watch a movie about Venice

[00:55:48] show me widescreen

[00:55:49] well that's a good one

[00:55:51] we're going with the first one

[00:55:52] call it a double

[00:55:54] nah it's not a double rage

[00:55:56] now I'm not so upset about it

[00:55:57] I'm more upset about it now it's an aplex

[00:55:59] I gotta wait for like two weeks

[00:56:01] there we go

[00:56:07] rage

[00:56:10] subsiding

[00:56:11] plus

[00:56:12] sloy

[00:56:14] anger feeding

[00:56:17] ooh the lists

[00:56:18] didn't think we were gonna have the list this week

[00:56:20] but you forgot

[00:56:23] that we talked about Carol Kane

[00:56:26] last week

[00:56:28] and I'm like you know what

[00:56:30] I'm gonna go back and watch some Carol Kane movies

[00:56:32] this last week

[00:56:33] which I did

[00:56:35] I watched a when a stranger

[00:56:39] call

[00:56:39] she's so good in that

[00:56:42] she's just a baby in that

[00:56:44] she's such a little baby

[00:56:46] like a little tiny baby

[00:56:49] she's wonderful

[00:56:51] she is so

[00:56:53] honestly that is such

[00:56:54] a good movie the original

[00:56:57] is the remake is just

[00:56:59] poopy

[00:56:59] it's terrible

[00:57:00] you know

[00:57:04] it's important that people know

[00:57:06] if you haven't seen one of stranger calls

[00:57:08] it's probably one of the best

[00:57:10] slasher movies

[00:57:12] and I saw this in cinema's opening night

[00:57:14] by the way when it came out

[00:57:16] so

[00:57:19] she had a bit of a run for her money

[00:57:21] in this film because

[00:57:22] what's his face

[00:57:24] the cop in it is pretty damn

[00:57:26] fantastic also

[00:57:28] what can I remember his name

[00:57:30] I don't know

[00:57:31] remember who his name is

[00:57:33] nope

[00:57:38] how long ago was that

[00:57:40] 79 I want to say

[00:57:41] oh yeah that's way before I was looking

[00:57:44] my favorite

[00:57:45] it was 1979

[00:57:46] my favorite movies are her were in the 80s

[00:57:49] the 80s

[00:57:51] yeah you were gonna talk about that

[00:57:53] um oh Charles

[00:57:55] Charles journey

[00:57:57] he's great in this

[00:57:58] so I saw that one

[00:58:01] and then of course

[00:58:02] I had to go back

[00:58:04] and watch Annie Hall

[00:58:06] which she's also fantastic

[00:58:08] in that

[00:58:09] and then I also

[00:58:11] went back and watched

[00:58:13] Princess Bride

[00:58:15] so where she crushes Billy Crystal

[00:58:17] like it's not even a contest

[00:58:18] it's like Billy Crystal

[00:58:21] yeah she's just crushed everybody

[00:58:23] so um

[00:58:24] you said you were gonna tell me something about Carol Kane

[00:58:27] that I wouldn't be happy about

[00:58:28] and I don't know if that's a truth

[00:58:29] I don't remember that

[00:58:32] no it was last week

[00:58:34] when we started talking about her

[00:58:35] I think I may mention that

[00:58:37] well yeah cause Brace makes funny me again

[00:58:39] because I said yeah some of the movies she's in

[00:58:41] are terrible

[00:58:43] but she's never terrible

[00:58:45] but she's never terrible

[00:58:46] I am saying Carol Kane

[00:58:50] is mesmerizing

[00:58:51] but she's still mesmerizing

[00:58:52] yeah she's absolutely mesmerizing

[00:58:55] what's your vote on Carol Kane

[00:58:57] I haven't seen enough of her stuff

[00:58:58] if you're talking about Carol Kane from the 80s

[00:59:01] absolutely

[00:59:01] she's still the same Carol Kane

[00:59:03] last week I saw her

[00:59:05] was the dead don't die

[00:59:07] and she was also amazing

[00:59:09] and then you have to go back a long

[00:59:11] was she in the dead don't die now that I remember

[00:59:13] oh yeah she was

[00:59:15] what's his face

[00:59:16] there's gotta be some sort of mesmerized off in there

[00:59:19] no there isn't because Tilda Swinton was already punted

[00:59:21] Tilda Swinton's punted, Bill Murray's been punted

[00:59:24] oh wait

[00:59:25] there is because isn't Adam Driver

[00:59:27] Adam Driver is still on the list

[00:59:29] there we go so we might have to rewatch it

[00:59:32] for a third time

[00:59:33] man

[00:59:35] it's not my favorite movie

[00:59:37] I actually enjoyed it more the second time

[00:59:40] yeah so maybe the third time

[00:59:41] it'll become a Mondo for you

[00:59:42] maybe

[00:59:44] I liked her in Sprooge

[00:59:46] she was the best part of everything

[00:59:50] she's in

[00:59:51] bitch hit me with a toaster

[00:59:52] love a girl with spirit

[00:59:53] she was the best part of Adam's family

[00:59:56] bought values for God's sake

[00:59:58] the good thing is that Murray's going to be able

[01:00:01] to find us some mesmerized off

[01:00:02] with her now

[01:00:04] adding her until there's a pose

[01:00:06] this is the weekend to do it I guess

[01:00:08] I don't have time after that

[01:00:09] alright so it's unanimous Carol Cain

[01:00:12] is mesmerizing until we start

[01:00:14] doing some mesmerized off

[01:00:16] oh yeah she was in the sisters brothers too

[01:00:18] I just watched that again recently

[01:00:20] and that's got Joaquin Phoenix

[01:00:22] yeah I are one of those two

[01:00:24] but is she in it for five minutes

[01:00:26] so that's the tough part

[01:00:27] yeah she's not in there for five minutes

[01:00:29] that's the key right she's a pretty strong character actor

[01:00:32] so you know

[01:00:33] that's going to be tough

[01:00:36] alright well anything else

[01:00:37] from the list that we need to talk about

[01:00:40] obviously Murray's not going to give Tyrese

[01:00:42] a mesmerizing either

[01:00:44] so

[01:00:46] I can't give him a based on one role

[01:00:49] he's on way too many fast and furious movies

[01:00:51] that's true

[01:00:51] he's in literally all of them

[01:00:53] although he's pretty mesmerizing compared to everybody else

[01:00:55] in that

[01:00:57] maybe

[01:00:59] alright I guess that's enough of that

[01:01:01] okay then

[01:01:09] last time on rage or dare

[01:01:12] Bryce picked from the

[01:01:14] Merman's ice creamy bucket of rage

[01:01:16] and pulled a 2B tastic

[01:01:18] Arnie Flick when he picked the

[01:01:20] 2014 flop

[01:01:23] Sabotage

[01:01:25] I'm not sure what you're talking about

[01:01:26] when it comes to films flopping

[01:01:28] it's very ice to see you are paying attention

[01:01:30] to my later movie endeavors

[01:01:31] but you know what I have to say about

[01:01:34] decreased financial successes that well

[01:01:36] you know the Iceman cometh

[01:01:38] and the Iceman taketh away

[01:01:41] this week it's all

[01:01:42] Jimbo all the time and I'm sure Jim

[01:01:44] is itching to pull something from Bryce's

[01:01:47] back of rage but my guess

[01:01:48] is again that our slack jawed

[01:01:50] Yockel was too busy again

[01:01:52] to do his job

[01:01:54] don't worry Jim

[01:01:55] your god of rage is here to deliver

[01:01:58] us some evil

[01:01:59] now let's check in with Bryce and get the full

[01:02:02] scope of just how far our muscle

[01:02:04] bound politician has fallen from

[01:02:06] race and now

[01:02:07] get me to the chopper come on

[01:02:10] what are you waiting for

[01:02:12] do it do it now

[01:02:14] come on

[01:02:19] in case he was nice enough to

[01:02:21] to send us about 20 or 30

[01:02:23] new

[01:02:25] dares I think Bryce is a big juicy bag

[01:02:28] now you know the thing

[01:02:29] is that I think Bryce is intentionally doing

[01:02:31] that because he knows that Casey gives

[01:02:33] us gold and so

[01:02:35] he doesn't want what Casey's delivering

[01:02:38] so he's

[01:02:39] slack jawing his

[01:02:41] his role because

[01:02:43] instead of feeling the bag

[01:02:45] so I could take some of his he's making

[01:02:47] me try and take Casey's

[01:02:49] but I'm not falling for that Bryce

[01:02:50] I'm also going to choose

[01:02:53] from Murray's bag

[01:02:54] so take that

[01:02:57] alright now you want to tell

[01:02:59] us about Arnie's

[01:03:01] super movie he's busy playing

[01:03:03] with the dog I'm not playing with the dog

[01:03:05] um

[01:03:06] this this movie starts out it's

[01:03:09] and it's

[01:03:11] here's what it's about

[01:03:13] it's about this DEA

[01:03:14] task force alright

[01:03:16] sounds original and Arnie's like the

[01:03:18] head of it and they decide

[01:03:20] that they're gonna rob like this

[01:03:22] drug cartel

[01:03:24] sounds like a bad idea

[01:03:27] so

[01:03:28] they end up

[01:03:30] robbing this thing it's kind of ingenious the way

[01:03:32] they do it it's

[01:03:34] honestly this movie opens up

[01:03:36] kind of weird it opens up with this lady

[01:03:38] being tortured and you're like what the hell is going on

[01:03:41] and then they go to this drug

[01:03:42] they rob this drug cartel

[01:03:45] and

[01:03:46] then they go to get the money but basically

[01:03:48] they they rob it

[01:03:50] but they kind of put it all down the toilet

[01:03:52] right and then they're going to go fish it

[01:03:54] out of the out of the sewer I guess

[01:03:55] was the idea great idea that's right

[01:03:58] so when they get there

[01:04:00] though somebody's already

[01:04:02] taking it what

[01:04:04] yeah so that's where it kind of kicks

[01:04:06] off

[01:04:08] and as a side

[01:04:10] story

[01:04:11] the

[01:04:12] the

[01:04:13] torture that we see at the beginning is actually

[01:04:16] Arnie's wife

[01:04:18] yeah so his wife and his kids

[01:04:20] get tortured and killed in Mexico

[01:04:22] what in Mexico

[01:04:24] yeah so

[01:04:27] he's decided

[01:04:28] that he's gonna he's gonna get

[01:04:30] revenge or something I don't know

[01:04:32] anyways

[01:04:33] or something the movie

[01:04:36] I'm not I'm actually not doing it justice

[01:04:38] because for the first

[01:04:41] 4045 minutes

[01:04:42] I was literally saying to myself

[01:04:45] this movie isn't that bad

[01:04:47] this is the best other than

[01:04:49] other than other than Arnie dropping

[01:04:50] f-bombs like you've never seen before

[01:04:53] I've never seen him swear so much

[01:04:55] in my life which was kind of

[01:04:57] off putting in a way of seeing him say

[01:04:59] well if this if that and his accent

[01:05:01] but you know what

[01:05:02] I got over it

[01:05:04] and the movie wasn't that bad

[01:05:07] and then all of a sudden

[01:05:08] it started just getting silly

[01:05:10] what and here's the thing you got Terrence Howard

[01:05:13] in this

[01:05:14] it's obvious to me that you've put Terrence Howard

[01:05:17] in this he's literally said nothing

[01:05:18] through the whole thing so he's obviously

[01:05:21] gonna be like

[01:05:22] the kind of twist bad guy at the

[01:05:25] end and you just know it yeah because

[01:05:26] it's Terrence Howard and you didn't put him

[01:05:28] in to stand there and say nothing

[01:05:31] for for an hour and 20 minutes

[01:05:33] so that was pretty obvious

[01:05:36] Sam Worthington was as good as he's ever been in this

[01:05:39] he's actually really quite good in this

[01:05:41] Terrence Howard is always good even though he didn't say anything

[01:05:43] until the end but then at the end

[01:05:45] it got really really silly

[01:05:47] and there's this one

[01:05:49] lady

[01:05:51] that's part of the DEA crew here

[01:05:53] that is

[01:05:55] she's a drug addict

[01:05:57] and

[01:05:58] she's trying to do everything she can to

[01:06:01] get away with

[01:06:02] stuff let's just say without

[01:06:04] revealing too much

[01:06:06] but there's a scene where

[01:06:08] she kills a guy

[01:06:11] and he bleeds about

[01:06:12] I don't know 400 liters of blood

[01:06:14] sweet and there's blood everywhere

[01:06:17] and then she decides

[01:06:19] she's gonna cut him up

[01:06:20] and then put him

[01:06:22] in her own refrigerator

[01:06:24] and kind of folds him up and puts him

[01:06:26] in the refrigerator and then she

[01:06:28] cleans everything

[01:06:30] but then

[01:06:31] the guy like leaks another 400 liters

[01:06:34] of blood out of the fridge

[01:06:35] and there's a big pool but here's the thing

[01:06:37] she's putting him in his own refrigerator

[01:06:40] or her own refrigerator

[01:06:41] so what was the point of any of it

[01:06:44] you're not hiding him from anybody

[01:06:46] you just put him in your own refrigerator

[01:06:48] she wanted to keep him fresh

[01:06:49] so what was the point

[01:06:51] you're not transporting him somewhere else

[01:06:53] that's why you cut him into pieces

[01:06:55] maybe she's gonna eat him later

[01:06:57] it made no sense

[01:06:59] so anyways then there's like this

[01:07:00] weird high speed chase

[01:07:02] Terrence Howard meets his demise

[01:07:04] in the most anti-climatic

[01:07:07] way that could possibly happen

[01:07:08] and this movie that had some potential

[01:07:10] about this DEA

[01:07:13] guy

[01:07:13] was gonna rip off some drug guys

[01:07:17] so that he could get some funding

[01:07:19] for himself to go down to

[01:07:20] Mexico to take care of business

[01:07:22] and get revenge

[01:07:24] for his wife

[01:07:26] and his daughter

[01:07:28] I don't know if his daughter is son

[01:07:30] I don't even remember anymore

[01:07:32] but that wasn't a bad story

[01:07:35] let's have that story where

[01:07:36] I would have liked him to get the money

[01:07:38] go down to Mexico

[01:07:39] and start kicking some ass

[01:07:41] but then you get

[01:07:44] you get this weird last scene after all this

[01:07:47] has happened

[01:07:47] where he's like stacking money in front of

[01:07:50] some corrupt police guy

[01:07:52] in Mexico

[01:07:53] he's stacking like 10 million

[01:07:54] because by the way he's the one that stole the money

[01:07:57] so he makes his crew think that

[01:07:59] and that's where this all just takes a weird turn

[01:08:02] anyways it wasn't very good

[01:08:04] at the end it had the potential

[01:08:06] to actually be good cause it actually

[01:08:07] it was good for about

[01:08:09] 40 minutes and then it just goes

[01:08:12] off the deep end and just the crazy

[01:08:14] takes over and some really

[01:08:16] bad decisions happen

[01:08:18] and why was

[01:08:20] Terrence Howard in this

[01:08:21] and having said all that

[01:08:23] this is as good as Sam Worthington's ever been

[01:08:25] he was good in it

[01:08:27] Arnie was Arnie so he was fine

[01:08:29] you know he's Arnie

[01:08:31] you don't expect a whole lot from Arnie

[01:08:33] but it just went off the

[01:08:35] it got so dumb at the end

[01:08:37] it became a rage and honestly

[01:08:39] it wasn't that bad for a while

[01:08:40] it really wasn't

[01:08:42] but then it was

[01:08:44] so bad

[01:08:46] so yes this was a rage

[01:08:47] okay good you know I thought that we'd

[01:08:50] never get that out

[01:08:50] yeah really

[01:08:53] like I don't have to watch the movie now cause he just described the whole thing

[01:08:56] yeah exactly

[01:08:56] why would you want to watch the movie

[01:08:58] I don't know cause you kind of made it sound like it might have been good

[01:09:00] it was okay for a while

[01:09:01] hey leave no loose ends

[01:09:04] that's the tagline on the movie

[01:09:06] so I was trying to leave no less loose ends

[01:09:08] I'm gonna take something from the Mermag's

[01:09:11] ice creamy bucket of tubetastic

[01:09:13] you mean I don't get to do it this week

[01:09:15] I do it every week

[01:09:16] paying attention

[01:09:17] you just say it's all Jim all the time

[01:09:20] oh and by the way

[01:09:23] Bryce too because Bryce has to do a rage

[01:09:25] movie every week

[01:09:26] you know if you don't be careful we're gonna vote that into

[01:09:29] you have to watch every week

[01:09:31] but I do

[01:09:33] except for this week this is the first week in like

[01:09:35] 47 weeks that I haven't had

[01:09:37] in forever

[01:09:38] I get to watch I think this is a Roseanne Barr

[01:09:41] movie oh good

[01:09:42] is it she devil yeah absolutely

[01:09:45] okay I love Roseanne

[01:09:47] I believe Merrill's in it too

[01:09:48] the greatest actor of all

[01:09:51] time yeah Roseanne

[01:09:53] Barr is with Merrill Streep

[01:09:55] and I love Ed Bagley Jr

[01:09:58] this is gonna be the best experience

[01:09:59] of my life sounds good

[01:10:01] yeah this could be I remember

[01:10:03] it actually not being that good I remember I did

[01:10:05] see this yeah I think

[01:10:06] I saw this in theaters

[01:10:10] so I'm looking forward to it

[01:10:11] because the first time was so good

[01:10:14] there you go

[01:10:15] there you go

[01:10:18] it's got Academy Award winners in it

[01:10:20] did you want me to talk more about sabotage

[01:10:22] maybe she didn't have it no it's okay

[01:10:24] no I think only of his beastie boys

[01:10:25] I think that yeah it was
