[00:00:17] Greetings and thank you for tuning in to Drea’s Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. So make sure that you are following the show at Drea’s Point of View on Instagram, threads, and Facebook, as well as at Dreapoint on X.

[00:00:43] So we've reached another end of another season. This is my season finale. And I will say that it went by pretty quickly. These months have been going by pretty fast for me and I'm so glad because it was rough. It was rough. It was a rough summer for me, I will say, but I am glad that it is over.

[00:01:08] And I am ready to enjoy my short hiatus and start a new season. So today is going to be about a couple of things that I'm going to try and tie into one. I don't have anything scripted, so I'm trying to do this from what I can really remember from the last few days, because that's really when I was in the next few days.

[00:01:44] I started thinking about what I started thinking about what I would talk about. And the first thing is impressions. First impressions. And really how you come across to other people, if you care about that or not. I guess you wouldn't if you're a stranger, but some people do care about how they leave an impression.

[00:02:20] Have you ever been somewhere in the wild, in a store shopping, and someone will come up to you and ask you a question? Assuming you work there, of course, but I mean, just in general, just ask. Or it could be at work, and someone just ask you a question, but not say anything beforehand.

[00:02:41] Not hello or excuse me, just walk up to you and start talking. That's one of my pet peeves, by the way. Happens more often than it should. But how do you take that? Do you care? I know I do. You can't just walk up to me and start asking a question. To me, that's like walking in someone's home and not saying anything. You automatically say, can you hang in someone's home and not saying anything. You automatically say anything. You automatically say, can you hang this for me? Can I have a drink? Without saying hi, how are you? Good to see you. Something, right? You would say something.

[00:03:13] But many people don't. They just automatically start talking to you if they need direction somewhere. Where is this? Where is that? Well, hello first. I'm fine, thanks. Right? And it got me to thinking, well, clearly people have no home training, but what type of impression do you think you're leaving on someone?

[00:03:43] I know I don't think much of people who do that. Which leads me to another point of when I, and this is just a thought for my fellow podcasters, when you make an episode, when is it that you introduce yourself?

[00:04:08] Like, you know, that's the first thing that I do on all my episodes. One of the first things out of my mouth is who I am. But I noticed that many podcasts that I listen to don't do that. And I don't know if it's out of habit. You forget.

[00:04:28] I judged a couple of podcasts. And one of the things we had to vote for was the intro. And I can't tell you how many I had to say didn't have an introduction. It just jumped right into whatever they're saying.

[00:04:50] And I'm like, how do you not introduce yourself? I would imagine if you're doing an interview, you would, right? But just talking and not saying who you are.

[00:05:03] I don't know, that's a bit odd. So an intro, no matter how short it may be, is always best for a lasting impression, in my opinion.

[00:05:23] Which leads me to another topic of how you want your legacy, basically. And this is from a movie that I watched.

[00:05:43] And I knew a few of the actors in it. Their name escapes me right now, but they look familiar. And the movie is called South Haven. And it basically is about this woman who goes, she's a celebrity. And she goes back to her hometown to see her ex.

[00:06:10] And I'm thinking, okay, she's going to see if she can rekindle, then get back together, right? No. Huge plot twist. She went back to town, met him, had him take her to all the places they used to go back in the day. He was getting a divorce. So I figured, okay, easy for her to slide in. But no, she actually was trying to have him keep his marriage.

[00:06:42] And a couple of things happened before then. It talked about, you know, it showed her home life and the toxic relationship she was in. And she was with a guy who did drugs, stayed in her house and shot her.

[00:07:02] And it was actually when her ex asked her, you know, why didn't you go to your mom's funeral? And she was like, well, what do you mean? So she passed four years ago. And in a flashback, she was on the floor because she was actually dead or dying.

[00:07:26] And that was one of her last, her last good deed before she passed, talking to her mom. And it was for her to make sure that her ex was happy. And she was asking me questions. How was I as a person? How was I to you? Was I a good person?

[00:07:56] And yeah, that just made me think like, wow, what kind of legacy do you want to leave with people? What would your last good deed be? What is something that you can actually do? What would their last deed be?

[00:08:19] Like, what would you, what's one thing that you would love to accomplish if you knew it was the end or your last day, days were coming? What's one thing? That you could think of. And if I had to think of one thing, like I said, I have very few regrets in life. I would probably say for my siblings and I to be closer. We've never really been close. Well, they have been because they're closer in age.

[00:08:47] And they, I guess they grew up together, separate homes, but they were close, you know, were close in age. I am not close to mine in age, in geographic location. And yeah, I just would like to correct that. Now, I have tried in the past. Okay.

[00:09:13] Being the oldest, I have tried to, but there's only so much I'm going to do. We're all adults now. But yeah, if I could think of rekindling that relationship. But how do you want to be remembered? What is something that you can do to make a better impact on people? Just a thought.

[00:09:41] So hopefully those two topics tied in to give you some thought until I return, which will be in October. Won't be long this time. I do have some time off where I can come back in a timely manner this time, but I do need a break. I believe everyone needs rest. Hopefully you enjoyed this episode enough to leave a review.
