[00:00:16] Greetings and thanks so much for tuning in to Drea’s Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. So please make sure that you are following along at Drea’s Point of View on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. You can also follow Dreapoint on X.
[00:00:36] So today I am dedicating Friday, like every other Friday, to a review where I talk about my experience at an event, a restaurant, a movie.
[00:00:54] And I wanted to talk about a thing, my experience with a thing that I read about, I believe I saw it on Instagram. And this episode is for you hot sleepers, those of you who have night sweats.
[00:01:19] So not necessarily for women, it's for everyone. And that thing that I'm talking about are cooling sheets. What are cooling sheets? Well, they help us hot sleepers and those of us who have night sweats. Helps regulate our body temperature.
[00:01:48] Improves sleep quality. Improves sleep quality. Helping us fall asleep faster. They pull sweat away from the skin. And I can't believe I haven't heard about this sooner. But then again, I just started noticing that I get hot at night, say, maybe the beginning of this year.
[00:02:13] Because I'm that girly who likes to sleep in socks because I get cold. But haven't needed to do that this year. Things change. Life changes. You can get these sheets. They're made out of pretty much, well, not anything. I mean, you can't get satin ones, obviously. But you can get them made in linen, bamboo, or you can get the cotton sheets.
[00:02:40] According to realsimple.com, they allow air to flow through their fabric. Cooling sheets help you feel cooler and dry quickly. You can get maximum effects by getting a mattress topper. I haven't gone that far. I'm just starting off with the sheets. Apparently, they have a cooling pillow as well.
[00:03:07] I don't know if I'm going to get that. They have cooling pillows for whether you sleep on the side, like myself, or your back. I think it's cool. Something for everyone. Dr. Miriam Syed at Hartford says that they can help prevent the need for insomnia medications. So many people have trouble sleeping because the solution may just be optimal temperature during sleep.
[00:03:38] Linen sheets are good ones to buy. They can make your sheets feel, or your sleep feel, actually, they can make your sheets feel better than cotton. Bamboo sheets are cool to the touch and tend to be the most durable.
[00:04:00] Now, it's been said to stay away from the sheets with a very high thread count, like close to 400. 200 is better. And I also learned that they have cooling blankets as well as comforters. I might invest in a cooling blanket because I love my blanket, especially on planes.
[00:04:28] There was an article on sleep.me that says cooling sheets can only do so much. So it's like a passive way to regulate your temperatures. They won't last all night. There is a cooling mattress pad called ChiliPad, and it pulls heat away nonstop.
[00:04:56] It circulates chilled water throughout the mattress, and it fits all mattress sizes. It's an active cooling system instead of a passive one. So that's something to look into as well. But until I decide to invest in that, I will be enjoying my cooling sheets. And I believe Oprah had it on her wish list, her Christmas list that she comes out with.
[00:05:28] I would love to hear your thoughts on cooling sheets. If you've heard of them, if you use them, you can go to my website at thedreyaspointofview.com. And feel free to subscribe to my free weekly newsletter. It comes out on Saturdays at dreyaspointofview.substack.com. As always, I thank you for listening. This has been Drea's Point of View.
