Episode 649: Review of Knicks in 5

[00:00:16] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreas. And in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. [00:00:41] First, I want to apologize for my voice. I am getting over a cold. Seems like I'm always getting over a cold. But I promise you, the norm is for me to get sick once a year. Lately, though, it seems to be twice, but I'm getting better. But the show must go on.

[00:01:01] So today, I am going to give you a review, since I like to do so on Fridays. And I will be reviewing the Knicks win, 53 years. Imagine going without a win, 53 years.

[00:01:32] So you are talked about throughout the league and beyond for not getting a chip. Now, am I a diehard Knicks fan? No, I am not. Did I watch the series? Yes, I did. Do I like the players? Yes, I do. I am from the state of New York.

[00:02:00] But I even know some who aren't diehard Knicks fans who live in New York, so I don't feel bad. But I definitely wanted them to win because I know how it is to go through life wanting something, trying hard for something and not getting it.

[00:02:18] So I'm like, maybe there's hope for the Bills to win a Super Bowl. We've come so close, so often. But this show will be about the Knicks.

[00:02:30] Because I've never, and I am a diehard NBA fan. And I have never seen a series where there's so much drama surrounding it. There's so much that happened throughout the series. And it's crazy. That didn't have anything to do with the players. So I'm not going to talk about the players.

[00:02:55] We all pretty much know what happened each game, right? We all know that they didn't sweep. But they won, obviously, Game 5, June 13th. And they had their parade. Now, I was leaving town during the parade.

[00:03:17] And that's actually also when I started feeling under the weather. So, yeah, it was definitely out for me watching the parade. But I did, or going to the parade. I did, however, watch it online.

[00:03:35] I caught the speeches, them getting the keys to the city. And so much I heard about that happened at the parade and afterwards.

[00:03:54] You know, there was the case of the guy who, I guess he OD'd on a roof. And then there was a crowd who got on the roof to help. And someone threw up, not threw up, I'm sorry.

[00:04:13] Someone threw some Narcan up, and they helped him and got him to the hospital. I didn't hear anything else about him after that. But that was during a game. So imagine watching that during the parade. Imagine that going on.

[00:04:35] And then there was a case of, well, someone told me this. I think they burned a bus. I know there was a case of the lady who worked for a company and she took, and they even have this on video, which is just crazy.

[00:04:59] There was a blue and orange trash can. So she emptied out all this trash on the streets, ran off with a trash can, and wound up losing her high-paying job. The police didn't file charges, but she still lost her job. To take a trash can? I mean, is it that serious? But to empty it on the street? I wouldn't even feel right doing that.

[00:05:29] Like, you would think people should know better, because everything is being recorded or as cameras. And then there was a case of, well, actually a friend told me this, in New York, it was one of the watch parties they had, and someone wound up losing their life at a watch party.

[00:05:56] And then, of course, you know, one of the watch parties, I believe, when the president was there, they called off the watch party because of, well, because he was there, of course.

[00:06:09] And then they had Avery Wilson, who sang the national anthem. He sang it multiple times. He even sang it again at the parade, because everyone thought that he was being booed and they had him, they brought him back, which I'm glad they did, because he's a phenomenal singer.

[00:06:36] So there was that. And then, of course, too, it's like, to have the president come to a game, it just took everything away from the game, really. It's just, I don't know. I would not have, if I were the president. You already have celebrities there.

[00:06:58] And then you want to take the spotlight. You claim that you were cheering on the Knicks, but they showed you sleeping. And then, of course, that was that drama. And then there was an altercation with two women. I'm sure you know about that and have seen that video.

[00:07:21] And they interviewed the woman. It was a black woman and a white woman. So they interviewed the black woman after that. And then, actually, she was the hero. And then, she was the hero, because it wasn't her fault. She didn't start it. Actually, the other lady started it.

[00:07:36] And just imagine that being recorded. You're on the pole, minding your business, dancing. Someone says something to you. Then they assault you. And then they, well, you saw it. You saw the rest. That was just insanity.

[00:08:05] And then there was something with, I saw them during the Spurs. When they were in San Antonio, they were ganging up on this guy and tore his jersey and stomped on it. And just, as much as these jerseys cost, you would have to take me out with it.

[00:08:28] It's just so much that went on that I've never seen go on at any other finals games. It was insane. But I'm just so glad that the Knicks won, because they needed this. New York needed it. So, congratulations to them. Did you catch the finals? Were you rooting for the Knicks?
