[00:00:15] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. I'm Dreas Point on X and Spill, and on Blue Sky, you can find me at dreaspointofview.bluesky.social.
[00:00:45] Make sure you get on Blue Sky. It's kind of dead over there. Not many people know about it, just like Spill. So I wanted to talk about treasuring, savoring your experience when you're out and about. I remember taking a trip with a coworker, and she was really big on taking pictures.
[00:01:14] She had so many pictures in her phone as she was walking. And when we were at the hotel, she was taking pictures. Granted, it was the holiday season, so you may take more pictures than usual, but I was just watching her. And I'm like, wow, this lady loves taking pictures. I mean, she pretty much took pictures of everything.
[00:01:41] And that made me think of how much we took pictures before everyone had their cell phones. Everyone had the Polaroid or the disposable camera and was running to the drugstore to get them developed. And they'll always have those pictures. And it made me think, why don't I take pictures like I used to?
[00:02:10] I'm just so used to going places, traveling for work, and I don't really take advantage of nature. And it could be of anything, really. You know, of the hotel that you're staying in. Of your room. Of your, well, I don't really take pictures of my meal and post-it.
[00:02:38] But just the little things in life. And staying in the moment. Because we take advantage that there's going to be a tomorrow. But just having those pictures are memories. Especially if you go to a place that you, that is new.
[00:03:03] I'm going to suggest to go back to taking those pictures. And it really got me thinking when the, with the California fires. And I'm hearing the stories. And I'm seeing everyone talk about how they really weren't. Of course, it was unexpected. But a lot of people didn't prepare. And you never know the last time that you're going to be home.
[00:03:32] And so much that was lost. Not just for insurance purposes. But taking pictures of what's in your home is definitely beneficial. And I did that, actually, as soon as I saw those. I should have done it a long time ago. But as soon as I heard those stories. Just imagine going into your home for the last time. And you do something simple. It could be something simple like going to the store.
[00:04:00] Or just going up the street. And then something happens. And you just want to run in and get something. And now you have, all you have are memories. But just having a photo means a lot. So after this episode, I request that everyone takes pictures of their belongings. Now, you don't have to go drawer by drawer. But just take a picture of the drawer.
[00:04:31] You know, if you have things in boxes like I do in storage bins. And just taking pictures of, not piece by piece, but whatever you can. Just to have it, like I said. I mean, look, I'm an Andy for the insurance. But just to savor that. Whenever you're going to somewhere simple. It could be a restaurant.
[00:04:59] Take a picture of that restaurant. A lot of restaurants that people used to go to are no longer there. And the schools that kids used to go to are no longer there. I mean, you might think, who are they taking a picture of their school? But sometimes a picture may be all that you have, aside from a memory. It's nice to be able to go back and look at it.
[00:05:27] So, keep that in mind the next time that you go somewhere. Because as I said, we take life for granted. Make sure that you have pictures in your phone. I hope that you enjoyed this episode enough to continue to listen. I do have a newsletter that is free and it comes out every Saturday night.
