[00:00:15] Allow me to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreya, and in the next
[00:00:20] 10 minutes or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate
[00:00:24] about. So make sure that you're following this show. You can find it at Dreas Point of
[00:00:28] View on IG, Pinterest, Threads, and Facebook. You can also follow me on X and Spill at Dreas
[00:00:36] Point and on Blue Sky at dreaspointofview.bluesky.social. Now, I don't know who
[00:00:45] needs to hear this, but it is ok to do nothing. It's ok not to multitask. It's ok not to tackle
[00:00:58] something that was on your to-do list. It is ok not to keep up with the Joneses. And I
[00:01:06] got that from a few conversations that I've had with people recently when they ask what
[00:01:13] I did for the weekend, on my off days, or what I'm planning on doing in the future. And if
[00:01:24] you've been listening to me for a while, you know I'm juggling a lot of things. I multitask.
[00:01:31] I believe in staying busy. But there are a few times, especially now that it's colder, where I
[00:01:40] really don't feel like doing anything but staying in and warm. And out of the way, basically. Out of
[00:01:48] trouble. Out of drama. And I don't see anything wrong with that. I remember someone asking me
[00:01:58] once what I did on an overnight, and I said it was a self-care day. The lady said she loves that. And
[00:02:12] I don't see how self-care taking care of myself is lazy. Not doing anything is not a crime.
[00:02:25] We all lead, most of us lead busy lives. Got a lot of things going on.
[00:02:35] And I really don't see a problem in just taking it easy. If you wanted to lay in bed all day
[00:02:45] and watch TV, binge watch a show, that's fine. If you wanted to stay in bed all day listening to
[00:02:54] podcasts, which I've done before, that's okay. Or if you just wanted to stay in and sleep most of the
[00:03:01] day and rest your mind and body, that's okay as well. Especially being adults. Why do we always
[00:03:07] have to be doing something? What are we trying to prove? Sometimes you plan things and then your
[00:03:17] body tells you no. You need to relax. It's okay. Relaxing is okay. It's a thing. You know, it really is.
[00:03:26] It's okay to just sit around and say if you wanted to just meditate. Think about your day,
[00:03:37] your life, and just veg, basically. You know, I see nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't make it a
[00:03:46] habit, but every now and then, like one day a week, I like to have a do-nothing day. Or at least a day
[00:03:53] where I don't do anything outside of the house. I actually enjoy that. And I see nothing wrong
[00:04:00] with that. And I don't like people shaming someone because they chose to do nothing or relax.
[00:04:10] Everybody wants you to be doing something or something that they approve. Something productive.
[00:04:22] Wouldn't hurt to be productive. But it also wouldn't hurt to relax. Right? Take a break
[00:04:32] from life. Take a break from society. Go on a vacation and go to a beach. And say if you wanted
[00:04:39] to just lay on a beach the whole time. Or if you just wanted to take advantage of a resort's amenities.
[00:04:44] Right? We all have different ways of spending our time. So I don't see why it seems to matter.
[00:04:54] I don't know. People love digging in other people's business. But yes, I'm just here to say that it is
[00:05:06] totally okay to do nothing. And I don't even think really, like on my do-nothing days, I'm still doing
[00:05:16] something. I'm planning for the week ahead. I'm writing stuff down I want to do. I'm coming up with
[00:05:22] episodes for my podcast, but just not doing a million things. It's totally okay. So don't let
[00:05:38] someone guilt trip you into thinking that it isn't. Don't feel guilty yourself because you did nothing.
[00:05:46] Oh, you have a thousand things on the list. You got nothing done. Okay. Well, there's always
[00:05:49] tomorrow. I know they say, well, I put off tomorrow. What do you do today? But if you are tired,
[00:05:53] especially the older you get, it is okay to take advantage of quiet and just relax. It's okay.
[00:06:06] Okay. So I hope that you liked this episode enough to subscribe to my free weekly newsletter,
