[00:00:15] to welcome you to Dreas Point of View. I am your hostess, Dreas. And for the next 10 minutes
[00:00:22] or less, I will be offering you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about. I invite

[00:00:55] So, here I am giving a review for the movie Wicked. I'm sure most of you have seen it by now
[00:01:06] or at least read the posts about it. So, there's no need really for me to go into too much detail.
[00:01:14] I'm sure you know what the movie is about by now. It's based off of The Wizard of Oz, tells
[00:01:21] a tale of Glinda the Good Witch, and the Wicked Witch of the West. The stars are Ariana Grande
[00:01:35] and I went blank for a minute, Cynthia Erivo. And I got to be honest with you. When I learned
[00:01:47] that those were the two main characters, I was a bit hesitant. I love them both. And I love
[00:01:55] their voices, but I'm like, I wonder how they're going to mesh. But they really surprised me.
[00:02:05] They have amazing chemistry. Their voices sound beautiful together. I think Cynthia sounds
[00:02:13] beautiful with everyone, actually. I saw her on the Jennifer Hudson show for, they showed a clip
[00:02:20] of those two singing because they were both in The Color Purple, which I Hate I Missed on Broadway.
[00:02:24] And they sounded amazing together. Cynthia has really earned every bit of the success she's been given
[00:02:35] this year. And I mean, everything about her, I just adore. I love her vibe, her interviews. If you watch
[00:02:45] her interviews, she just handles herself so perfectly. It's so just very classy. I got a chance to meet her
[00:02:54] on a flight once. This was when she was in the movie Harriet. And I got a chance to tell her
[00:03:03] how much I loved her very nicely. I didn't get a picture of her because you know how some celebrities
[00:03:08] can get. I've actually only taken pictures with two celebrities, but I digress. And this movie does not
[00:03:17] disappoint. Now, I knew how long the movie would be. And that's what I was worried about. I'm like,
[00:03:24] I gotta sit through this movie. It's almost three hours long. But it didn't really seem like it.
[00:03:32] I got a chance to see the play way back when. I couldn't even tell you who was in it. I don't
[00:03:42] remember, but I remember seeing the movie. Or I'm sorry, I remember seeing the play. And
[00:03:48] of course, the Wizard of Oz and the Wiz. But this gives a great spin, great interpretation.
[00:03:56] When I went to the movies, both men and women were in the theater. It wasn't packed. And contrary to
[00:04:04] the reviews that I read, there was no one singing. That's like the worst. When someone's singing
[00:04:13] along with the people in the movie, it's horrible. But no, everyone gave their uninvited attention.
[00:04:20] I didn't get any merch, though. I understood they had merch you could get for the movie. I didn't get
[00:04:29] any of that. I'm not a huge Pink and Green fan. But I just knew because of who was in the movie
[00:04:39] that I wanted to see it. Now, it's a musical. So you definitely have to really like musicals.
[00:04:44] And it's not so much of the songs. It's the singing. I mean, both of their voices are just like I
[00:04:53] listen to them all day, every day. The costume design was flawless. They had so many. Oh, my goodness.
[00:05:06] I don't even know how many people were in this movie. Just munchkins alone. The set design
[00:05:16] was impeccable. It made you feel like you were in Oz. It was just the acting. Everyone played their role.
[00:05:26] Amazing. I can't really say anything negative about my experience. And I will say that I wouldn't mind
[00:05:36] seeing it again. And it's rare that I'll see a movie again in a movie theater. I'll usually wait
[00:05:42] till it comes out on streaming. But no, I definitely want to see this again because according to the
[00:05:48] post and a lot of times when you see a movie again, there's something that you didn't see the first time
[00:05:53] around that you saw. And there's a lot of talk about how this movie came out at a good time for
[00:05:59] Black women. How, how my goodness, Cynthia's character, Elfaba, I believe, pronouncing her name
[00:06:11] incorrectly, was misunderstood because she was green. And, you know, like most people prejudge
[00:06:18] Black women and she just wanted to be seen. And it was just a triumphant story for women. And then
[00:06:31] them not getting along at first and then finding a bond. So there were some tearful moments,
[00:06:42] but it just really was, I don't know. In a way, it kind of left me speechless. It was a beautiful movie
[00:06:52] for all ages, men and women. Jeff Goldblum was a nice surprise as Oz and, or The Wizard. And
[00:07:07] yeah, it just, I, the choreography was on point. I don't really have a bad thing to say about this
[00:07:18] movie. So please go out and see it. It's worth all the hype. Don't read too many reviews because like
[00:07:26] I said, everyone's posting about it. So you can just go off that. But yes, definitely, it's definitely
[00:07:33] worth your time and money. I hope if you have seen it, let me know. Dre is point of view at yahoo.com.
