[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: The PodBread Network is strictly for the small podcasts that are up and coming in the vast
[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: world of podcasting.
[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: PodBread is made up of many diverse podcasts.
[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Coming together to achieve the same goal of being the best damn podcast network on the

[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Find out more at podbread.com.
[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So I finally went to my very first WNBA game.
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Those of you who have been listening to me know that I'm a huge NBA fan.
[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been going for years, no one team, no one city.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But with all of the talk this year about the WNBA players, I finally decided to support
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and I went to a season opener and I wanted to share that experience with you.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I am Drea, the hostess of this short form podcast Dreas Point of View and I would love it if you
[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: would follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook and threads as
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: well as Exxon Spill Drea Point.
[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: So I went to one when I was in Atlanta.
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: The Atlanta Dream is the team there.
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And they were playing the Dallas Wings.
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Now mind you, I'm not familiar with, I couldn't tell you one person who's on either one of
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: these teams.
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was really just going in blindly.
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But it was at a small venue, a nice venue.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been to this venue before.
[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's very convenient, very, I don't know, I just like small venues.
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You can get in and out quickly.
[00:02:00] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no bad seat.
[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Their bag policy changed a little bit.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I should have checked that out.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The whole clear bag policy thing.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't check the website for that.
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I had an episode about checking the website.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't check.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the last minute decision, actually.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get my ticket until maybe two hours before the game.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay, I'll go.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: The price is very reasonable at these games.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's really no reason for anyone.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's for women's sports, but also the prices, if you could pay for to see
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_01]: the men play, you would definitely pay to see the women pay.
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably even buy two seats for the price of one or what they charge.
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But so I didn't check that site and I wound up having to go back to where I was.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But fortunately it wasn't too far because I had a small bag, which was still acceptable.
[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But it wasn't small enough so that that was, yeah, so there was that snap.
[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: But I was still early.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I get there and the demographics is definitely different
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: from the typical NBA game.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: At unlike an NBA game, you pretty much saw every dynamic broken down.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, there were more women, which was good to see.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: There were a few couples, a few hetero couples.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: There were a few men to begin with.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: There were couple families.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_01]: There were a lot of groups and there were two, a lot of women couples as well.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say homosexuals, they were a couple, but
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_01]: there were a lot of women in pairs going.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'll say that.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_01]: As opposed to, I don't see that at NBA games.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So the dynamic was different.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of refreshing.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of nice to see some of everyone support a game instead of just a certain type.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Because if you go to NBA game, you know what you see there.
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so it was also interesting how many women were, they weren't just there.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: They were there supporting.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: They weren't on their phones at these NBA games, these women.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I can count the number of women on one hand who actually watch these games.
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, chances are someone else is paying for their ticket to go into an NBA game.
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Because they're always on their phones.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But here at the WNBA games, these women are paying attention.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: They have as much energy as the men do.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I admired that.
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't, because like I said, I didn't.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I didn't root for either team.
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know who to root for.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was just really a fish out of water.
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But I was impressed with how the attention span was from the women.
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And they had their live entertainment, just like every other game, you know,
[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_01]: in timeouts, half-time entertainment.
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Great dance squad.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So they had that.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it was okay.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It was an okay experience.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Now am I hooked on going to these games?
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know because it's a small league.
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I need to go to the bigger ones to experience it and I will.
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And I will review that as well.
[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I need to go to a Sparks game.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I need to go to the bigger because I heard those are really just amazing.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But it was a good experience, you know, but I also would like to go to a team.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's because I didn't really know anyone.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like if I went to a Chicago Sky game, I know who I would be cheering for.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'd like to know someone on a team to actually be there for
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: to just being there just to watch.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_01]: But I can check it out my list that I've gone to a WNBA game and I recommend it.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Go.
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, go not so much as to support women's sports,
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: but because it tickets aren't expensive at all.
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You definitely won't break the bank.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll have a good time.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Try to go to a small if you can go to a small venue at first.
[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's that's a good way to break it in.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was my experience.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess that was my positive news story as well.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I supported women's sports.
[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Make sure that you leave a comment if you've been to a WNBA game or if you
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: plan to attend one at Dray's Point of View at Yahoo.com.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And don't forget to review.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: At the Dray's Point of View dot com.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: As always, I thank you for listening.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: This has been Dray.
