[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_00]: The PodBread Network is strictly for the small podcasts that are up and coming in the vast world of podcasting.
[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: PodBread is made up of many diverse podcasts.
[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Coming together to achieve the same goal of being the best damn podcast network on the planet.
[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Find out more at podbreed.com
[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Or not. As adults.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: How many foods on this list are ones that I partake in?
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And unless I have some kind of reaction, I'm going to continue to partake.
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But maybe sparingly.
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I came across an article on huffpost.com that I found interesting enough to share called 9 Healthy Seeming Foods and Drinks
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Scientifically linked to a shorter lifespan by Emily Lawrence.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Dreas Point of View. I am your host, Andrea.
[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: In 10 minutes or less, I will give you my perspective on a topic that I feel passionate about.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to invite you to follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook and threads.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: You can also follow on Dreapoint at X&Spill.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So the first one on the list is Red Wine.
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I've always heard that red wine is good for your heart.
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know more people that drink red than anything else.
[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a white wine drinker, so I figured that didn't really affect me.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't really affect me much.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: But red wine is linked to high blood pressure, certain cancers and premature aging.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So knowing that would that make you stop drinking red wine?
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Or at least cut back.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Now it did say red wine specifically, but it talked about alcohol as well.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I have cut back on alcohol.
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: That's about as good as it's going to get for me.
[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I've got to have that just a little.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Now many people think that drinking diet soda will somehow save them.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But studies show that it cannot.
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The artificial sweeteners give you bad immune help.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm always saying people with a diet coke, diet coke, diet coke, but then the food they eat
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: don't suggest anything dietary.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So that kind of doesn't even really even out.
[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Granola bars.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I love granola bars.
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I've always known them to be healthy, but they are full of sugar and unhealthy fats.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: To make sure that you're eating a healthy one, check to make sure that it's low in fat and sugar
[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and has three grams of fiber.
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm not one to read boxes.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to eat, but that's just something I'm passing along.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite things on this list are smoothies.
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Now the ones that you make at home should be fine.
[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But the ones that you get elsewhere like jamma juice, one of my favorite places,
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: may not be so healthy because of all the sugars.
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, well, if I'm going to go down for eating a bunch of fruit and then sherbet
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and yogurt, then so be it because I'm not stopping on my smoothies.
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't get them that often, but I got to have a smoothie every now and then.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it's just a treat.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Now it goes without saying that the heat and eat meals that you put in the microwave
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: or oven have a lot of additives.
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: BHA and BHT are known to alter DNA.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Fruit juices, one of my favorites made the list, and I love most of them.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Unless the juice is freshly squeezed, chances are it's not healthy.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: The amount of sugar is the same as in most sodas.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Keeping sugar intake under 36 grams a day for women is recommended
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and 25 grams a day for men.
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, I've never been one to read labels, but it wouldn't hurt to start.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's funny too because when I go to the store, I always see certain people reading labels.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never been one to do that because it's not like I'm obese or anything,
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's not so much about the calories, I guess as it is sugars.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Characutri made the list.
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_01]: The cured meats have been linked to or curate meats have been linked to cancer and diabetes.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm not a fan of that characutri, so you can they can have that one.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But another favorite food on this list is flavored yogurt.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: They say that they add it sugar in the, say something like key lime pie,
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: which I love and strawberry yogurts aren't good for you.
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'll just eat less.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't see giving up yogurt.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I can't see eating a plain yogurt either.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I tried that once and was just so disgusted.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what is this?
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_01]: What was the last time you've seen someone eat a plain yogurt?
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: What's the point?
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_01]: A kai bowls is on the list.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never had one, but it says that they are loaded with sugar.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So basically if you want to eat these foods, read the labels and make sure that they're all low in sugar.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you have to drink, save it for special occasions.
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Are any of these foods on your list?
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Let me know.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And make sure that you subscribe to my free weekly newsletter at draisfpointofview.substack.com.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: As always, I think you were listening.
