[00:00:43] July 26th, Paris, France.

[00:00:50] There was the opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympics.

[00:00:58] Star time was 10 30 a.m.

[00:01:08] Pacific time so 7 30 p.m. in Paris.

[00:01:17] The river Sin was the main setting.

[00:01:23] Pink was the color.

[00:01:31] The duration was four hours.

[00:01:34] Yes, I watched it all.

[00:01:36] And I wanted to give my perspective.

[00:01:44] Welcome to Dreas Point of View.

[00:01:46] I am Dreas, the hostess of this short form podcast.

[00:01:50] In 10 minutes or less, I'm going to give you my thoughts on what I am passionate about.

[00:01:58] And I hope that you follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook and

[00:02:04] Threads, and Dre a Point on X and Spill.

[00:02:10] So there was so much going on.

[00:02:13] I am going to just talk about as much as possible without telling you everything in case you didn't

[00:02:22] see it.

[00:02:23] I believe it's still on Peacock Network, the opening ceremony.

[00:02:29] I know there's a show that's dedicated to that since there were no rehearsals and

[00:02:36] I didn't want to watch that.

[00:02:37] That was the opening was enough.

[00:02:38] I mean four hours.

[00:02:39] So I wanted to talk about some of the things that really were noteworthy to me.

[00:02:50] Okay, so they had the hosts.

[00:02:52] They had three hosts.

[00:02:54] Mike Tarrico who's known in the sports world and they had Peyton Manning,

[00:02:58] Football Hall of Famer and then they had Kelly Clarkson, the first American Idol,

[00:03:04] Talk Show host, singer, actress.

[00:03:13] And I didn't really and then they had Snoop doing his thing.

[00:03:18] Snoop is everywhere.

[00:03:18] I need his connections.

[00:03:20] I really do.

[00:03:20] He knows everyone and he seems to just you would think he wouldn't fit in but he seems

[00:03:24] to fit in wherever he goes.

[00:03:26] So, but I wanted to touch on the hosts a little bit because it wasn't until I read other posts about

[00:03:37] the opening that really made me stop and think.

[00:03:41] Okay so there was a lot.

[00:03:44] I mean when I say there was a lot going on you learned a lot about you saw a lot of Parisian

[00:03:49] themes, a lot of things going on that don't normally happen.

[00:03:53] You know I'm used to the torch, the person running with a torch or the people running with

[00:03:57] passing the torch and then you have the different countries seeing your favorite athletes,

[00:04:03] seeing their uniforms and maybe a few performances.

[00:04:07] Okay well there was much more than that and the hosts didn't really say much.

[00:04:12] Kelly spoke as if she were watching it like she spoke like it was

[00:04:23] she was on the sidelines just wow that was breathtaking.

[00:04:29] Like there was no description of what we were looking at whatsoever and from anyone really

[00:04:36] and I don't know it would have been nice to know what we were really looking at other

[00:04:42] other than the basic things.

[00:04:44] I mean there was so much to cover and I won't get into it but as much as I love

[00:04:51] Kelly Clarkson and the rest, I can't say they really did the best job hosting.

[00:04:57] I hope they were just volunteering for and not getting paid or at least not getting paid much

[00:05:02] because yeah they didn't really do much commentary on what we were looking at.

[00:05:09] So there was a torch relay all throughout Paris that torch was very nice.

[00:05:14] I guess I would have had to research or maybe I missed that part of what that torch was made

[00:05:20] of. It was a beautiful looking torch very classy very expensive looking.

[00:05:24] I'm not sure how much it weighed but it was very nice if you look at it if you go check out a

[00:05:30] picture of it you'll see.

[00:05:32] So someone took the torch I mean it went through it went through some changes.

[00:05:38] Someone took a torch with them as they were zip lining.

[00:05:43] I mean it was very talk about creativity this is probably one of the most creative

[00:05:47] openings that I've ever seen.

[00:05:49] There were different themes throughout this opening like I said it was four hours long so

[00:05:54] I mean I tried to focus on as much as possible.

[00:05:59] There was a boat parade that was really I really cared about like I said on the river

[00:06:03] sin there were 85 boats holding all the teams that were on there they're different countries.

[00:06:10] Some countries shared boats some had their own.

[00:06:14] The I'll get back on that in a minute.

[00:06:18] The Louis Vuitton cases you know that's obviously an iconic brand in Paris.

[00:06:25] They were showcased throughout it's how the medals will be handled throughout the Olympics.

[00:06:33] There are also the Lady Gaga.

[00:06:39] Okay she now I knew she was performing.

[00:06:42] She I have no complaints about her everything about her performance was amazing.

[00:06:48] She sang her song in French.

[00:06:50] She there was the theme was pink and black.

[00:06:53] It was just amazing.

[00:06:56] No nothing and then no rehearsal and that's the thing about it how why aren't we rehearsing

[00:07:02] for the Olympics so that that but I have no complaints or her she played the piano she sang

[00:07:10] dancers was fine it was it was it was a nice it was a good sight to see if you're a Lady Gaga fan.

[00:07:16] I recommend going on YouTube possibly to catch that there was a heavy metal band I believe

[00:07:22] they were French I don't know where they came from then they threw in the minions

[00:07:27] because there was an animation studio in Paris they showed these statues apparently only about 40

[00:07:33] statues of women for some reason as opposed to over 200 statues of men but they will be offering

[00:07:39] those statues to the city after the ceremony that I thought was interesting.

[00:07:44] There it rained I guess it was the first time it rained during the Olympics since

[00:07:48] in a long time and there was a fashion show on a bridge near the Eiffel Tower which was

[00:07:57] it would have been nice to know a little bit more what designers are we looking at who are these people

[00:08:02] something instead of just saying oh the fashion show be careful don't slip it was

[00:08:07] wasn't as professional as it could as it could be but let me get back to the boats because

[00:08:12] it's all about the athletes and it didn't seem like it was it was sidetracked too much

[00:08:18] else going on and not enough attention on the actual athletes but there was a refugee boat

[00:08:24] which I thought was very unique and pretty cool to have there were now the outfits

[00:08:32] that's what I always look for to see who's got the best outfits and a couple stood out to me

[00:08:39] the country of Armenia theirs were very nice now I'm not going to go into detail about these if

[00:08:45] you're interested enough you can look it up to see but I can't pronounce this next one it's

[00:08:54] azerbajan azerbaijan theirs were beige with hats something about a hat that just makes you

[00:09:00] look more put together vangladesh they never won an olympic medal and they are also known as

[00:09:06] most populous nation bermuda they went with pink shorts bouton their boat was very unique they had

[00:09:16] a wooden boat botswana they had navy suits with blue trim light blue trim gana they were looking

[00:09:25] for their first gold medal holland they're the only ones I noticed with umbrellas some people

[00:09:30] had ponchos but there was I'm like if it's raining on me especially pouring I'm going to wear an umbrella

[00:09:36] I'm gonna have an umbrella Jamaica they uh full of energy with their yellow uniforms very nice

[00:09:46] monaco theirs red and white with hats Nigeria their outfits were there are two different ones

[00:09:54] black with green and white with green very nice now team USA isn't one of my favorites

[00:10:04] and apparently it wasn't a lot of people's favorites either because they wore blue blazers

[00:10:09] with jeans I mean looked like they belonged in some kind of commercial it didn't look

[00:10:15] they didn't didn't really look right compared to most of the rest look Ralph Lauren was a designer

[00:10:19] LeBron and Cocoa golf were who's the first she was the first tennis player they were the flag bears

[00:10:27] for team USA and it wasn't much focus on team USA for whatever reason it it was that was

[00:10:35] disappointing now after all of the boats went through then after the torch Serena Williams

[00:10:43] Carl Lewis Nadia Comanich and Rapi on the Dow were in a boat with the torch it was late at night at that

[00:10:53] point and so many people were past that torch including the oldest living athlete who's 100

[00:10:59] years old in a wheelchair and then they ended everything four hours later which was well

[00:11:07] worth the wait for a breathtaking performance from the one and only Celine Dion and I gotta tell

[00:11:14] you she was a highlight for me there's there's if you knew what she'd been through she has

[00:11:19] a documentary which I thought I was going to review but I couldn't because it was just

[00:11:23] seeing what she went through and it was it was just hard it was a hard watch but you would

[00:11:31] never think that anything is wrong with her and she's coming back she sounds great looked

[00:11:36] great she sang on the Eiffel Tower just I was like Kelly Clarkson at that moment it was

[00:11:43] breathtaking she really couldn't say anything it was just I was so in awe I love Celine Dion I

[00:11:50] got to see her perform once in Vegas she's supposed to be doing another residency at the end of

[00:11:53] this year or next year and I'm going to see her again so I suggest checking that out on

[00:11:57] YouTube as well but yes so that's my take of the opening of the Olympics like I said

[00:12:04] if you're interested it should still be on the peacock network or you could catch different parts

[00:12:10] of it on YouTube but it's going to be I'm going to watch as much of the Olympics as I can I doubt

[00:12:18] that I will come back for another review but I definitely wanted to read talk about review the

[00:12:24] opening because it was definitely something to behold it was a lot Paris it was a lot
