[00:00:01] The PodBread Network is strictly for the small podcasts that are up and coming in the vast world of podcasting. PodBread is made up of many diverse podcasts. Coming together to achieve the same goal of being the best damn podcast network on the planet.

[00:00:18] Find out more at podbread.com Have you ever been to a place that changed locations? But instead of getting better, you got worse. I have. And unfortunately, it's one of my favorite comedy venues in Atlanta called Uptown Comedy Corner.

[00:00:57] And I was going back and forth with it, just debating whether or not I wanted to talk about it because I've loved it for so long. But then when I got the opportunity to go recently, I was like, oh yeah, there's no way.

[00:01:13] I gotta let the people know about this place. How it was and how it is now. Welcome to Dreas Point of View. I am Dreya, the hostess of this short form podcast. And I would love if you would follow me

[00:01:27] at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook and the Reds. You can also follow me at Dreas Point on X and Spill. It's Dreya Point. I keep saying Dreya's Point. But make sure you follow me. So Uptown has a lot of big name acts that have frequent

[00:01:47] at this spot and the tickets are very reasonable. That's the thing. So they have a two drink or $10 minimum and seating was always plentiful. You never had a bad seat at these places. It, from my understanding, I believe it was at two different locations.

[00:02:06] And this is currently the third. There was always ample parking. I never had to complain about the staff or the food. Some nights they'd even host free comedy. And I believe they still do, but we'll still implement the minimum fee, which I think is fair.

[00:02:22] You can't just go into a venue, take it up space and not eat or drink. That's yeah, that would be cool. I know some people have a problem with that minimum fee. I've never known a place not to charge that. So it wasn't until the most recent location,

[00:02:42] which took me a long time to actually get to. I actually read the reviews beforehand. I'm like, why not? Let me just read the reviews of this new spot. I'm not going to listen to any of it because I've been right.

[00:02:54] And I got to tell you, they're all horrible, all horrible. But I figured, you know what, since I've been before people are just being picky. I should have paid attention. I'm telling you, read the reviews, people, before you go places. Don't just take my word for it.

[00:03:10] Read their reviews. Okay, so the most recent location is upstairs. The other two were downstairs and you can go and come out of one exit. OK, so this location, you have the option of taking the elevator or taking the stairs. You may think, oh, that's nice.

[00:03:29] I have options. Yeah, it is. But when you meet up top, you still have to enter through that same doorway. So there's an emergency where basically going out of the same exit. So that's for that safety reasons alone. I would not go back, OK?

[00:03:44] Now, staff experience is optional. So I won't talk about that because I've had people talk about the security guard being nasty in the reviews. He was nice to me. The host could have used some a little TLC.

[00:03:57] But, you know, like I said, that's that kind of a subjective. But the place was very small and cramped, OK, compared to the others. Most of us, table of four, you're playing Patekate with the person next to you. There's no breathing room.

[00:04:12] There are screens throughout the place, OK? There are a few high tops and somewhere seated at the side of the stage. Of course, that's where the closer you are to the stage, the better your chances are of getting picked on. So pick your poison.

[00:04:30] Now, as a review stated, the service was the worst that I've ever experienced in a long time. OK, so between the service and the one entry way, I don't know which one turns me off more. They were short staffed on this night

[00:04:50] and they were short staffed on some of the other reviews as well. Lady comes over and she. I already know what I want. OK, I've been here before. So she gives us menus. I said, oh, I don't eat that. I know what I want.

[00:05:05] So she took my drink order and moved around and then came back to take my food order. OK, whatever, whatever works for you. Now I expected to get my drink like most people. You expect to get your drink within five minutes, correct?

[00:05:17] That didn't happen when I tell you that none of us in that in the back section. Get our drinks until the headliner came on. Now two people opened for this main act. So that took at least an hour. All right, so I'm just sitting there that long

[00:05:34] without a drink at the very least. OK, and then when we did get our food, which was shortly after it was in a to-go box. We weren't going anywhere. So that was. And when the food was brought out, it actually it didn't. I mean,

[00:06:01] I asked for a certain sauce didn't get it. Not too picky about sauces, but it's not what I asked for. So yeah, that whole thing was just. The whole thing was actually so bad. The entertainment was even bad. I'm not even going to kid you.

[00:06:18] The first person didn't get many didn't get much of an applause. The second person did a little better. But the headliner, who I won't mention is a popular person, bombed big time. You could tell by the looks on our faces, especially the women's faces.

[00:06:32] And he was offensive, vulgar, and he had to rely on his TV roles, basically, to get a laugh. But yeah, so unfortunately, until they. Even if even if they were, I were to read reviews that it got better. Like if they hired more staff,

[00:06:57] meaning everyone got their food earlier. Probably still not, probably still not. Because like I said, there's still that safety issue. You may not think about that when you go into places and I've been other places since, but it's helpful to be able to get out.

[00:07:17] Safely, right? Fire hazards. I mean, how do you not? How do you have a place upstairs? Now, if there was another exit, they didn't have it open that particular day. So, yeah, that it just all together was very unfortunate. And it's appointed.

[00:07:35] I don't know if it's new management or what have you, but yeah, you can go online and check see for yourself. The reviews are just horrendous. And fortunately, I've pretty much seen all of the big acts. They have repeated guests coming,

[00:07:48] so I don't need to see them there anymore. I'd rather pay more for a better experience elsewhere. If you've ever been to uptown, I'd love to know your experience. You can let me know at Dreyas Point of View at yahoo.com.
