[00:00:01] The PodBread Network is strictly for the small podcasts that are up and coming in the vast world of podcasting. PodBread is made up of many diverse podcasts. Coming together to achieve the same goal of being the best damn podcast network on the planet.

[00:00:18] Find out more at podbread.com I came across two posts on IG from Tarnetwork about highly sensitive people and when I read these traits, I realized that I can relate to some of the descriptions. So maybe I'm a highly sensitive person

[00:01:01] and after listening to this episode, you may learn that you might be one as well. Welcome to Dreas Point of View. I am your host is Drea. And with this short form podcast,

[00:01:14] I will give you my perspective in 10 minutes or less about a topic that I feel passionate about. I would like to invite you to follow the show on Dreas Point of View, IG, Facebook, Pinterest and Threads and at Drea Point, an excellent spill.

[00:01:29] So one of the traits of a highly sensitive person is that they dislike violence. That definitely applies to me. They have a vivid imagination. I know that applies to me. They are sensitive to others. They need time alone. I know I definitely value my alone time.

[00:01:52] They have strong emotional responses. Some tips for highly sensitive people include making your home feel nice and cozy. Try to avoid those who make you feel drained. Set boundaries to protect your emotional bandwidth. Plan for moments of downtime throughout your day. Journal your feelings.

[00:02:24] You know, they talk about journaling being high on the list of things to do to escape. Practice mindfulness. Speaking of that, I actually was playing around with my iWatch the other day and I saw a mindfulness app. And for about a minute you can reflect.

[00:02:45] We can practice on your breathing. And you can journal how your mindset is. It's pretty cool. I figure I'd play around with it as much as it costs. Check it out. There's a lot of apps on that iWatch.

[00:03:03] For more traits and tips, you can follow Tarnetwork on IG. Also according to introvertdeer.com, there are three types of sensitivity. The first one is you're a super sensor, which is the category that I can relate to the most.

[00:03:21] This type is easily overstimulated and tends to be perceptive and observant. But we know what needs to change in order to improve an uncomfortable environment. We also feel overwhelmed in busy or loud places. Yeah, I definitely do.

[00:03:38] I've been going to a lot of different places lately and I just, I don't know. It's just been a lot where a lot has been going on and I just prefer solitude over noise and really over people to be honest.

[00:03:56] The second type of sensitivity is a super feeler. You're able to read people and struggle with more painful emotions. This type of person is very empathetic and also needs a lot of downtime to recharge. Interestingly enough, that can be me as well.

[00:04:14] I know I definitely need my downtime to recharge and I consider myself an empathetic person. And that third type of sensitivity is an astute. This is someone who pays attention to their surroundings. They have a deep appreciation for beauty and art

[00:04:34] and they also enjoy a vivid imagination when it comes to creating characters in their mind. If you think this is you, let me know. Are you a highly sensitive person like myself? Feel free to comment at Dre's point of view at yahoo.com

[00:04:53] and of course you can also leave a review at thedreaspointofview.com. A positive news story for today comes from Arizona and that's where the first black Gerber baby, Achille Sonny McLeod came from. I remember sharing this story on the socials and someone asked why is this news

[00:05:18] and I'm like because it's history. And he was like, well there's been a down syndrome baby and another child of color. There may have been but not a black boy. So that's why it's history and that's why I'm mentioning it. People got to question everything.

[00:05:31] It's not like I'm making this stuff up people. I get my stuff from what I read and I guess you can go on the Gerber website and see for yourself. But one of the quotes Sonny's mom said

[00:05:43] was every day it's an honor to watch Sonny conquer so many tiny achievements from giggles to trying new foods to standing up and everything in between. He's a light in our lives and brings joy to everyone around him.

[00:05:57] Previous Gerber babies and Gerber staff for part of the selection were part of the selection panel. Sonny's family receives a $25,000 cash prize, free Gerber products for a year and other goodies from child and family brands. Pretty cool. And congratulations to him.

[00:06:16] He is a cutie, I love his dimples. You can find more of my episodes at thedraeaspointofview.com and make sure that you are subscribing to my free weekly newsletter at draeaspointofview.substack.com. As always, I thank you for listening. This has been...
