[00:00:50] Especially if you've been recommended a spot.
[00:00:56] This post that I read was from a man who was recommended a restaurant.
[00:01:05] And he went there with his party without a reservation during a peak event.
[00:01:14] And they didn't seat him because they were seating those with a reservation.
[00:01:22] And he also wasn't dressed apart so they didn't let him in.
[00:01:25] Told him that he needed to get a $30 shirt. I don't know how true that is.
[00:01:30] So he wound up not going and everyone was jumping on him about it online because they said that he should have checked the website.
[00:01:38] Website clearly states the policy, screenshot the policy.
[00:01:42] Yeah, it was crazy. So that's when I jumped in and that's what I wanted to talk about now.
[00:01:47] Checking the website during your research.

[00:02:08] So let me first say that the one time I did not check a website was going into a sports venue and they had a clear bag policy or a clutch that had to fit certain requirements.
[00:02:27] Right? So I've been to that venue before.
[00:02:34] Okay, but I haven't been to it recently and I went in with my small, it wasn't a clutch.
[00:02:39] Ladies, you know what I'm talking about the bag that you could wear on your shoulder and it comes like right up underneath.
[00:02:45] So it's small. It's a little bigger than a clutch and size wise it was maybe an inch or two bigger.
[00:02:52] So I didn't get in. Had to get a ride share back to where I was to get a clear bag.
[00:03:03] And I'm like if only I checked and I actually told my driver about it and she was like, did it not say it on the...
[00:03:10] I said well it probably would have said it if I checked but it was a last minute decision for me to go and I've always carried this bag into venues.
[00:03:17] So and then when I told another driver about it, she was like what they didn't let you in.
[00:03:24] Yeah and the lady was acting like she was getting heated with me and I told her there's no need to be rude.
[00:03:30] I'll just go get another bag.
[00:03:33] So that was the only time that I haven't checked and I regret that but getting back to this situation with the guy in the restaurant.
[00:03:43] The only time I check one for a restaurant is I check the website for the menu for a place I haven't been.
[00:03:51] I don't check the dress code because I don't go anywhere dress questionable when I go out to eat, especially dinner.
[00:03:59] I'm not in flip flops or spaghetti straps, crop tops, pajamas, any of that.
[00:04:07] So because that's embarrassing to be turned around.
[00:04:10] So that wouldn't have happened to me and I'm definitely not making a reservation for just myself but peak time.
[00:04:16] That's the only thing I had an issue with maybe he should have made a reservation for that.
[00:04:20] But the person who told them didn't tell him anything.
[00:04:24] It's a... I've been to the place before, okay?
[00:04:27] It's been years.
[00:04:29] I didn't know if they... I didn't check their website then but it's a nice place.
[00:04:33] It's a fancy spot in a less desirable neighborhood.
[00:04:38] It's a bougie place in the hood basically.
[00:04:40] Good food, tablecloths.
[00:04:42] Any place with tablecloths is a nice place.
[00:04:45] So I told them I said well I don't check the website either except for the menu and he said exactly.
[00:04:53] These people here say that they check websites for policies every time they go out good for them.
[00:04:59] I only get dressed up for church and work.
[00:05:02] That's it.
[00:05:03] So I said well you know what?
[00:05:05] You may want to go back there eventually because it is a nice spot.
[00:05:08] He said no, so whatever but lesson learned to check the website before you go to a spot.
[00:05:19] But how often do you do that?
[00:05:20] How often do you... especially if it was recommended to you would think that the person would have told them?
[00:05:27] I guess.
[00:05:28] I don't know why they wouldn't.
[00:05:29] Like if I were recommended in the spot I wouldn't just say hey a good place to eat is such and such.
[00:05:34] It's a nice place.
[00:05:36] You... I don't know.
[00:05:36] I would tell them.
[00:05:37] So I don't know why the person didn't tell them about the dress code.
[00:05:43] But the only thing I think he was at fault with is not make...
[00:05:46] Even if he had or made a reservation they wouldn't have been allowed in.
[00:05:49] So that was kind of... and it was hot.
[00:05:53] So we had to wait an hour.
[00:05:55] So yeah, so...
[00:05:56] Yeah that was really...
[00:05:58] That was unfortunate but it just made me think.
[00:06:03] I'm like hey maybe I should start checking websites of places.
[00:06:10] New places just because.
[00:06:12] Because like I said taking that ride after that event that I went to.
[00:06:16] I wasn't... I was early to begin with.
[00:06:19] So I wasn't... I didn't miss much when I got there.
[00:06:23] But it was still an inconvenience.
[00:06:25] You know so...
[00:06:27] That's just something I recommend.
[00:06:31] Always check the website of a new place just because.
[00:06:35] I mean unless a place is close to you and you've got nothing but time.
[00:06:40] Why waste time?
[00:06:42] Just do your research and check the website.
[00:06:47] Read the small print.
