[00:01:07] And this really comes down to taking, making service more important than good food. This spot that I'm reviewing is franchise. But it's also a popular black owned business where celebs go. However, that does not mean that it gets five stars from me.

[00:01:37] And that place is called Lolo's Chicken and Waffles in Vegas. Welcome to Dreas Point of View. I am your host, Andrea. And I would love it if you would follow the show at Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, threads and Facebook.

[00:01:57] You can also follow me, Dreas Point on X and Spill. So I've been hearing about this place for months and hesitated because I kept reading about the long lines. And food is one thing I will not wait for, especially breakfast.

[00:02:21] So I decided to finally go on one of the hottest days in Vegas. In a ride chair, short ride from my hotel. I could have walked and I would have walked if it were maybe 30 degrees cooler.

[00:02:36] So I get there, get inside and there are two hostesses standing there. Key word I saw because I wasn't greeted by either one of them. Man or woman. So I immediately thought to myself, okay, this is one of those places.

[00:02:54] I told them only one and I need to stop saying only. It's table for one please. Not only. I mean, I'm a person. I don't have to say only. I don't know.

[00:03:06] So the guy said it'll be 20 to 25 minutes and if I mined it and I said, yeah, no, as long as I get to wait inside. And the lady said I couldn't wait inside. I looked at her. I thought she was joking.

[00:03:20] And I looked over at the guy who was sitting. She said that that's for to go orders. I would have to wait outside on a patio. Now, mind you it was like 200 degrees outside. It wasn't even 11 o'clock. She said there was a patio umbrella sitting outside.

[00:03:39] So I'm like, okay, fine. I don't know why I thought that would help any. So I go outside and there were no misters. If you're familiar with this drip, they have sprays. There was no spray. Excuse me. There was no spray.

[00:04:02] I just had my water bottle that I bought sitting in the heat waiting for my food. So I was already pissed at that point.

[00:04:11] I knew I was going to make a review because I didn't like the way I was greeted and the fact that I was waiting outside. There was this guy who was sitting out there with me and he said that he surprised there wasn't a long line.

[00:04:25] Lines usually out the door. So my 20 to 25 minute wait ended up being maybe 15 minutes. It wasn't horrible. It was a slight breeze, but it was still uncomfortable and crazy.

[00:04:38] So when I do go in the lady asked to see my ID because I would need it to sit at the bar. So I get to the bar and bartender greeted me and he said the menu was on the QR code, you know, and they do that.

[00:04:52] A lot of restaurants. That's cool. Save paper. So I scanned it and since I'm not a day drinker, I decided to have a lemonade. Can't go wrong on a nice hot day. Right. Cup was very tall. Very tall.

[00:05:08] It was a cup with the name of the restaurant on it. And the lemonade I was expecting to be a little bit more expensive than the one I had. And the lemonade I was expecting more. Okay.

[00:05:23] Now to me, top tier lemonade is Chick-fil-A and then second in line is the cheesecake factory. I love those lemonade. I could refill up on those all day that one. Taste it like lemon water.

[00:05:37] I mean, I drank it all because I was thirsty, but yeah, it definitely had better. I think it was maybe four or $5.

[00:05:45] It was worth it for the size, but yeah, I wasn't sold on it. I wouldn't get it again and I should have gotten sweet tea, but as neither here nor there. My food came out pretty quickly.

[00:05:56] I got the chicken and waffles pretty much took up the whole plate. The waffles did and the tune was very good. Now considering I live near Roscoe's chicken and waffles kind of biased.

[00:06:08] I'm like, but no, it was, it was, it was very good. I was impressed with that. And the couple sitting next to me, they enjoyed their meal as well. They got something else. So the ambiance was nothing special, but there was a nice crowd.

[00:06:26] I did notice people coming in and out of there. The bar, it didn't have a mirror. You know, you're sitting at the bar usually expect to be looking back at yourself, but instead I was able to see the other end of the restaurant with open tables.

[00:06:40] So I don't even know why we had to wait outside. The lady on the other side of me, she was talking to the bartender. She had a female bartender and they were talking about her dog. She came from Ohio and yeah, the lady seemed very personable to her.

[00:07:01] On the other side of me, there was a lady she was talking to my bartender asking about things to do for the week. He told her about another place that I went to a few months back.

[00:07:10] I gave her my review on that place and we talked about our current experience at low lows. And coincidentally, she had the same experience with not being greeted upon entering. She was surprised. She was also told her wait, her wait time was about 40 minutes.

[00:07:29] So she was smart, went next door to a Mexican restaurant, sat under the AC in there and grab food. And she could believe that I was asked to wait outside while a person who gets their food to go could sit comfortably inside.

[00:07:47] That's a policy neither one of us has heard of before. You need to look into that because that's crazy. Excuse me. So anyway, I told her how celebrities frequent the place and it stays packed according to their social media.

[00:08:02] And she said, why do people put food over service? And I made me think. There are a lot of good restaurants to eat. Don't mind giving great service. Why go to a place where you receive the bare minimum.

[00:08:16] I forgot to mention that she said that she called a place in advance and no one answered the phone repeatedly. So with that, we both decided that we would just order online if we return and not go into patronize.

[00:08:34] Now they do also have locations in Phoenix and Dallas. I don't really care much for Phoenix, but I would try the one in Dallas if I were to go just to see if the service is similar.

[00:08:44] So when it was time to leave, I didn't really get a good buy. But I noticed at the couple next to me who had the female server got a good buy safe travels. I didn't get a good buy from the hostess either.

[00:09:05] So I as I got into my ride share leaving, I heard them tell a girl and her party that the wait would be an hour and a half. I don't know how many people she had with her.

[00:09:17] I saw her getting out of a car telling another car, but still, I mean there were tables there. So I don't know what that's all about. It's not like it's a five star restaurant. I don't know. But also at least they drove. They don't have to wait outside.

[00:09:32] But yeah, I told my coworkers about my experience and they were still stuck on the fact that I had to wait outside. You imagine in a wintertime in Vegas, unless they have those heaters. I mean, I definitely can't stand the cold so that wouldn't. I would just bleph.

[00:09:51] Do I recommend this place for delivery? Yes. Now I did check the tips section when I got home and many of them did complain about host service. So it's not just my point of view.

[00:10:04] I mean to me that's like going to someone's home and not being greeted or not really being treated well. But you know or the neighborhood is not that great, but you don't mind going because they've got a hot tub or a game room. I don't know.

[00:10:21] It's a no-no for me. They are on IG if you want to check them out at low low chicken and waffles and they do have a website.

[00:10:29] If you've been here and would like to share your experience, I'd love to hear about it at Dra's point of view at yahoo.com. You can also leave a review at thedravespointofview.com. As always, I thank you for listening.
