[00:00:30] So if you take ride shares then you have your share of stories, both good and bad. And my drivers as of late have compelled me to do this episode because they have really been a great deal of experience.
[00:00:45] And I don't discriminate, I do both lift and uber and most of my rides are out of state. And they are all 15 minutes 10 to 10.

[00:01:16] So what I hate is that they took away the quiet ride. I don't see it anymore. I wonder why they took that away. It wasn't there long enough first off.

[00:01:56] So most of my rides, I'd say half are airport rides. And of course you have a typical airport conversation.
[00:02:06] No, so where you headed? Are you from there? Where you from?
[00:02:11] And this one lady. It was quiet at first she made a call on the screen not using her phone. But it was a short talk and she was speaking in her language.
[00:02:24] She apologized afterwards. Not a big deal. I don't, you know, I'm assuming it's important for her to take to make that call at that time. So after that then she asked where I'm headed.
[00:02:35] And I was starting off my vacation going to Vegas and then she's like, oh can you take me with you? Typical question. Can you put me in your bag? And I was like no.
[00:02:47] Yeah, no really. My bag is nice and where it is and she got offended. She just lost it.
[00:02:57] It was like oh so tell me you don't want to, you won't be a go. Well tell me when you don't want me to go.
[00:03:01] You were saying I'm too big to get in your bag. Oh well, you could have said it differently. At first I thought she was joking but then I looked at her and just looked out the window.
[00:03:10] We were halfway to my destination at that point. Then it's like clearly you aren't using hearing the word no because no isn't a complete sentence.
[00:03:20] I'm not going to dress it up. I'm not going to switch it up to how you want me to say it. I said what I wanted to say. I'm, you know, deal with it.
[00:03:29] So then she was telling me about how I should, you know, careful about, you know, gambling to the, and how I said, you know I've been going there long enough to know how much to spend.
[00:03:43] I don't spend that much so I never lose much.
[00:03:48] And yeah it was just, yeah the first half of the conversation was different than the second half big time. I don't know.
[00:03:58] Yeah so I wound up giving her three stars and with three stars you'd never see that driver again.
[00:04:06] And I was telling a friend about it and she thought that I was too many. And I told her I said well there are other factors that go into a rating.
[00:04:16] It's not just on the conversation. You know, it goes on clean car driving safety and other stuff so yeah I won't see her again so that's all I care about.
[00:04:28] And then on the other side of the spectrum I got this really fun guy. Actually I noticed that I've gotten some cool riders from Vegas.
[00:04:38] And it's interesting too because you know most of them aren't from there but yeah that's where most of my good experiences come from.
[00:04:47] And this one guy in particular was probably at 15.
[00:04:57] Sorry, 15 to 20 minute ride and he was telling me well he had a unique license plate so I commented on it.
[00:05:06] He said he's gotten so many comments from it and one guy thought that was his last name and asked him his nationality.
[00:05:14] And told me where he got it from the name from which was a really cool story. And then he was telling me yeah he was telling me a lot where it but it made the ride so pleasant I was laughing most of the time and that's
[00:05:31] what's important you're writing a stranger complete stranger around in your car why wouldn't you try to make the ride pleasant I don't understand.
[00:05:41] You know even yeah I don't get that why wouldn't you try to make saying nothing works to my've had that a couple times and I'm totally okay with silence but if you must speak why not bring joy to whoever because you never you never know who you may
[00:05:59] develop a relationship with with these rides so yeah and he even told me about a machine that he won big on it he hardly plays I told my hardly play to that totally wasn't going to play.
[00:06:15] I don't do slots like I used to mainly all places sports bet but I played slots and I actually did win a little bit not much because I didn't put in much but listen to him he was my good luck charm.
[00:06:27] And then of course I have those riders drivers who want to tell me about their riders that they have you know they go through it too
[00:06:35] and I had one lady telling me about the creepy ones that she's had about how this one lady said that she falls asleep and she didn't wake her up and it was just a weird experience
[00:06:53] and then yeah some other stuff that she was telling me but that's I don't know to me it's it's too much information I don't need to know about who you have in your car I don't know these people
[00:07:03] this really none of my business unless it's an entertaining story I don't I don't know I'm cool with silence like I said my rides aren't that long for us to really be
[00:07:13] but I don't know maybe that's why some people take that job so they can meet other people and just talk but you gotta read the room sometimes
[00:07:21] silence is just everything to me I don't know why they took away that quiet ride option but they need to bring it back
[00:07:31] seriously or maybe I just need to start getting in with my headsets so they won't talk to me
[00:07:39] but yeah my experience is really overall and then you have those when you have bags okay
[00:07:47] when you have bags they'll see you and most of the time I just pop a trunk and you put your own bags in I don't have a problem with that because I don't pack anything I can't stack
[00:07:57] every now and then I'll get someone who gets out and helps put my bag in
[00:08:03] that will get you a tip for me I don't always tip be yeah I just I don't always tip if you help me with my bags
[00:08:13] that's an automatic tip or like the Vegas guy he got a tip because he was great and he gave me a good you know he gave me good advice
[00:08:21] so you've got those and then I had a guy once who airport ride was picking me up from the airport
[00:08:29] and he got angry because he thought I slammed his door or trunk
[00:08:37] and I don't think so but I mean his car you know he's the right to think that but he was just so upset with me about it
[00:08:43] that when it was time for me to get out of the car he actually opened the door to make sure that it was closed gingerly
[00:08:51] so there was that I won't be teed up with him again either but yeah it's I'm grateful for the ride shares I really am
[00:09:03] because it helps me get where I got to go quickly without me having to worry about driving
[00:09:08] but I don't know I think a lot of them really need to think I don't know a lot of them really need to use their customer service skills
[00:09:20] when they're dealing with us passengers
