[00:00:30] So if you're a thrifter and you love Vegas then this episode is definitely for you.
[00:00:59] Because on one of my recent trips to Vegas I went thrifting and was shocked at what I found. And I wanted to share it with you just in case you happen to go to Vegas and wanted to do something off the beaten path literally then you'll want to check out this clearance center that I went to.
[00:01:28] I am Dreat the one and only hostess of the short form podcast Dreas Point of View and I want to thank you for tuning in. Make sure that you're following me on the socials. You can find me almost anywhere. I'm on ex and spill at Dreas Point, at Dreas Point of View on Pinterest, Facebook, IG, Threads and Clubhouse.
[00:01:48] So I it was a nice day and I was looking for shoes in particular.
[00:01:57] So I'm like, you know, let me try some thrift stores in Vegas now I have gone to the flea markets before you know we've gone to one flea market you've gone to them all.
[00:02:11] But I'm like, you know, let me check out this clearance goodwill center. It's already goodwill okay but it's a clearance and it's a warehouse of course I had to read the reviews about it before I went.
[00:02:25] So let me prepare you on what to do before you go to this place.
[00:02:32] You will need your own bag okay. I because I didn't see them giving out any bags. I saw people bringing their own bag like myself and I also saw people walking out with an arm full of stuff so you're going to need a bag.
[00:02:50] Especially if you don't live there obviously you're going to need a bag to get back home with the clothes right or whatever you purchase.
[00:02:57] So you're also going to need gloves that suggested I brought my own not sure if they supply them I did see a couple people with gloves but just bring your own stuff okay.
[00:03:08] So place opens at eight I get there around 10 something and people were going nuts like I've never it's a warehouse okay not a store so it's not yeah just imagine a warehouse and people just going nuts and these bins.
[00:03:28] There's no rounders bins and I just wanted shoes there were a bunch of shoes. I saw a lot of nice ones but none in my size I'm like okay that figures I pay to get there okay because it's off the strip.
[00:03:45] It's not like you could just take a doose I would have to take two buses and I grew up on buses so two buses going anywhere is not a good day so I'm like you know let me get a ride chair.
[00:03:55] So got a ride chair there and looking for the shoes I'm like alright let me look for something else and some here.
[00:04:04] And I see a bunch of people lining up okay because they bring stuff out every 30 minutes or so they bring new stuff out they don't bring new stuff out to the entire floor but some bins they swap out so people are waiting for them to bring new bins.
[00:04:24] And I'm just looking around you know I'm like let's see I mean they were searching to one guy was unraveling Christmas lights.
[00:04:33] I couldn't believe how many Christmas lights and I'm thinking who donates Christmas lights why not keep them.
[00:04:40] And you had so many shopping carts people had clothes full of shopping carts okay and they're parked off to the side there are signs that say don't park your carts anywhere keep them lined up which I can say I've never seen anything like this before my life.
[00:04:55] So once they bring out the new bins they're like okay don't touch until we tell you and then go and these people are literally going I stepped back and then walked up a few minutes later.
[00:05:07] Which I probably won't do the next time I go because I missed out on shoes again could not find my size.
[00:05:14] And this one lady was telling me they have resellers in there who are getting that stuff so it's probably best to pounce like everyone else does at least one time.
[00:05:28] So I'm looking around and now my mom would love a place like that because she was really big on thrifting when I was a kid.
[00:05:38] And she would search and search and so they don't have that kind of patience I'm going to look over a few things and move on to the next so I did eventually come out with something filled my back filled up my bag and I noticed that there weren't too many old people.
[00:05:57] And I think that they were all prepared for me to check out this guy in front of me he definitely cleaned up I don't know if he came back in and got some stuff or he just carried what he could carry in his hand but he had at least six seven pairs of jeans.
[00:06:23] And I'm going to hand full of sweatshirts through it on the scale he went to $36.
[00:06:28] I mean 36 bucks just imagine that I mean you get a sweatshirt cost that much and you know jeans especially men's jeans and if they're designer or not so yeah he definitely cleaned up.
[00:06:40] I saw him walk out of there I said he walked out put everything in his car not sure if he came back to get more but yeah so there's that then after him there was me.
[00:06:52] I put my bag on the scale. You ready for it? I got seven pieces for $11.34.
[00:07:02] I couldn't believe it couldn't really wait to tell people about that because at a typical goodwill seven pieces wouldn't
[00:07:11] cost me 11 something I would say probably let's say if you average everything out to five what maybe five six bucks yeah it would have cost me close to 50 not 11 and some change did I get what I came in for no I did not did I still get a bargain yes I did I told my co workers about it since I went on a it was a work trip
[00:07:36] and one girl was just as excited as I was about it she was like what I never heard about it before and she's definitely going back and another co worker was more analytical about it she was like well I don't
[00:07:52] tell you let me back up it's they charge by the pound that's why everything was so cheap so the clothes are charged by the pound I don't know about the other stuff in there.
[00:08:01] How their prices are different so when I told the other co worker she was like so how much is it per pound you said he got how many pieces.
[00:08:14] And it's this and it's that where did they get all the clothes like okay what's with all the questions who cares just go yourself and take advantage it but it's it's just amazing to me now I told
[00:08:30] one of my neighbors about it and I said they have to have something like this here in LA if they got it in Vegas I know they got it in LA so I looked it up and apparently they do but the reviews for that place aren't good at all
[00:08:45] they said their staff is real nasty there's and the clothing is not quality now I did get some quality deals there I will say that everything looked great nothing
[00:08:58] looked dingy dirty or torn but yeah so I won't be going to the one here my neighbor said she's all about a road trip so she could have at it once I hear something staff isn't that great I'm staying far away from it
[00:09:16] I don't have to travel far to get back because of my service I could I can do that close home but yeah I was checking your area and see if they have a clearance good will the one near me is a clearance outlet apparently so yeah if you're a thrifter you may want to check that out
[00:09:33] because I was just yeah all those years of me going to Vegas and I've been going for over 20 years I never really even thought honestly about thrifting I mean you know you think about Vegas you thinking about spending money right not saving it no there are ways to save money in Vegas you just have to know where to go
[00:09:53] stay off the strip for one you're not going to get any deals on the strip you got to go downtown you got to go off the strip and you can definitely eat for cheap because matter of fact that morning I had a great steak and egg dinner with some other sides for $10
[00:10:08] so don't tell me that you got to break the bank going to Vegas because you don't I hope that you enjoy this episode enough to continue to listen to my episodes you could find them all at
