[00:00:57] Basically, live your life. Do you listen to what people say about a place that you want to try out? Do you listen to people that you know? Do you listen to people that you don't know? Do you go by reviews that you read?

[00:01:18] What do you think about Review Day for me? Would you take what I say into consideration before planning a journey to a spot? I'm Dreah, the hostess of this short form podcast Dreas Point of View.

[00:01:34] And I would love for you to subscribe to the show as well as follow me on the socials. You can find me at xandspill, and Dreas Point of View on IG, Pinterest, Facebook, and the Reds, as well as Clubhouse. I am a huge, huge fan of reviews.

[00:01:56] And I would say 95% of the time that's what I go by before I check out a new spot. I like to know what I'm getting into. Chances are I will not go if I hear bad things.

[00:02:12] I recently went to a place in Las Vegas and I was telling a friend about it, and I said there had to be one in California because I know if Vegas has something then LA definitely has to have it. And they do, but the reviews are horrible.

[00:02:33] And not only is a staff in question, but so are the quality of the clothes. So I won't be going. My friend on the other hand said she wouldn't mind trying it. She loves a road trip. Okay, if I know a place is horrible, I'm not going.

[00:02:49] It's not that serious for me. There are so many other places just like at restaurants. If you have a bad experience in a restaurant, let's say a chain restaurant. Do you boycott the whole company or do you just not go back to that place?

[00:03:07] I know Denny's had reviews in the past about discrimination against people of color. But yet whenever I go, I still see people of color in there. I know I go in from time to time. Chick-fil-A has a thing about not liking gay people.

[00:03:25] However, those lines everywhere stay long. I frequent the place myself. I always gotten good service so I'm going to continue to go. So do you, if you do listen to reviews, do you still go even though it affects someone that you know?

[00:03:48] Someone that you know had a bad experience. Do you still go because you're fine? I know there is a spot that I used to go to, only been to a few times. And I haven't gone in a while.

[00:04:04] This was before I read reviews about it and a few of them said that the owner was racist. Now after reading that, I definitely haven't been back because there are so many restaurants, especially around where I live.

[00:04:22] Grant and I will miss their tacos because they did have some of the best taco Tuesdays. But there are so many other places to go. There's no reason for me to go back. If it's something involving race, I definitely won't go.

[00:04:33] But a bad experience someone else had, I'll still go because everything is subjective. This happened recently. I went to a place that switched locations three times actually. The first two locations were fine with me, no complaints at all. Staff was fine, food was good, seating was great.

[00:05:00] It's actually a comedy spot. The third location I read the reviews about and most of them were horrible. I'm like, okay. I wasn't questioning about it because I've been to the place before. So I'm like, okay, that's, I don't know.

[00:05:19] I'm going to go because I've been to the place before. There's just a different location. How bad can it be? Well, I should have listened or I should have took heed to those reviews that I read because it was horrible, horrible experience.

[00:05:35] I will not go back for one, the place you can take an elevator or take the stairs and. Getting out of the place, you pretty much still have to go out one exit. Of course no one's going to take an elevator.

[00:05:58] If there's an emergency, we have to get out of there. So it's, you know, one exit getting out the lady who, you know how you buy something on Eventbrite and there's a QR code. They didn't have a scanner. So she asked for ID and couldn't find my name.

[00:06:19] Okay. And asked me to stand to the side to find my ticket. I pulled it up. Then she's like, well, this is for such a to the date. It was the date. I just bought it a few hours ago.

[00:06:29] And then for some reason it came up as my nickname. I don't know. But either way, I was able to get in. So that was a little, you know, she wasn't the nicest. The seating was a bit weird. It was a small place, but it was congested.

[00:06:46] Like I don't know. It wasn't as spacious as the other two locations. There were screens so you could see the act performing. So the servers, there were only about four servers and over 100 people. So you can only imagine.

[00:07:03] I'm so glad I was taught to eat before I leave. So I, the server comes over. She sets the menus down. I told her I didn't need one. I knew what I wanted. Okay. So she sets the menus down, comes back maybe 10 minutes later, takes my order.

[00:07:23] I'm not kidding you when I say it had to have been at least an hour, 45 minutes to an hour before she brings my drink over. Other people still haven't gotten their stuff. So it wasn't just me. Okay. It was horrible.

[00:07:36] And maybe 10, 15 minutes after that my food came and didn't have the correct sauce that I asked for. Food wasn't the greatest. So yeah, horrible. Now mind you none of this happened at the other two locations.

[00:07:52] So even if they got more servers, I mean that would help because who wants to wait around for their food? No one should get their food and at least a drink when the final, when the main act is on.

[00:08:05] Other spots I was drinking and eating before the first act came on, let alone the opening act. So yeah, other than the host, the security guy and the DJ, it wasn't really the best experience. People actually left. There was one table that complained to the server about it.

[00:08:31] I saw people leaving without even paying. I wouldn't have done that at the very least. I would have just left the money on the table. But yeah, it was just, yeah, I won't be back.

[00:08:43] So I should have paid attention to the reviews on a place that I've been before but different location. Yeah. So I'm just curious to know, let me know at Draespointofyouatyahoo.com what you do when it comes to reviews.

[00:09:02] How high do you hold reviews, especially from people that you don't know? Also, make sure that you are subscribing to my free newsletter. Comes out on Saturdays. Let you know about my upcoming events as well as recommendations that I have. As always, thank you for listening. .
