[00:00:46] So I wanted to talk about
[00:00:51] stealing and I got the idea from
[00:00:56] This movie that I saw it's about
[00:01:01] and the name escapes me so forgive me for that but Kiki Palmer is in it and she plays the
[00:01:10] Daughter who was kidnapped in a hospital by a lady who had three miscarriages and
[00:01:19] She went in the same time as
[00:01:22] this young couple did
[00:01:25] who had a beautiful baby and
[00:01:28] They were visiting a hospital and she decided to
[00:01:35] Pretend to be a staff worker and decided to watch the baby and wound up
[00:01:41] stealing the baby from the hospital and
[00:01:47] The
[00:01:49] outcome was
[00:01:51] Why
[00:01:52] Did you steal it she only got 12 years for it? Okay 12 years in jail and the kid was missing for 23 years
[00:02:01] But that just made me think of
[00:02:05] Why people steal?
[00:02:08] I'm Drea the hostess of the short form podcast reyes point of view and I am here to bring you 10 minutes or less
[00:02:14] Worth of whatever I feel passionate about
[00:02:19] Be it tips my opinion on something. I
[00:02:23] want to
[00:02:25] Get your attention in a short period of time and I hope that you follow the show on
[00:02:29] Instagram Pinterest Facebook and threads at Dreas point of view and on
[00:02:35] Exon spill a drear point
[00:02:37] And it really made me think kind of person
[00:02:42] Would take a baby and she explained why she did it
[00:02:48] Because she wanted someone to love her, but she couldn't adopt for some reason
[00:02:53] She couldn't get a pet
[00:02:56] she
[00:02:57] it's just
[00:02:59] Fogles by mind why someone would take something or someone who's not theirs for so long
[00:03:06] Okay, I mean so long and she thought about it after a while
[00:03:11] But she did not she she didn't
[00:03:16] Turn her over and turn herself in and
[00:03:21] Didn't really show much remorse
[00:03:25] And that made me think of a recent incident
[00:03:28] not comparing the baby, but it's still being had something stolen from me
[00:03:34] I was at a doctor's office first time and
[00:03:40] Brought a designer umbrella with me and
[00:03:45] It was raining when I went in it was one of those small umbrellas with the strap
[00:03:50] Put it on the floor because it was raining when I went in and I went up to the
[00:03:56] window
[00:03:57] to
[00:03:59] Sign something sat down and then they called me in and walked me to the back
[00:04:03] Totally forgot about that umbrella until it was time to leave then I went
[00:04:09] To the counter and told her by left my umbrella
[00:04:12] And she was like when did you leave and I'm thinking myself what difference does that make the staff was different than when I went in
[00:04:18] So I'm like either way
[00:04:21] Someone has my umbrella. I had no idea who be it a patient or someone who works there
[00:04:26] And I'm thinking I left it in a waiting area. So probably a patient
[00:04:31] told the story to two people and
[00:04:36] They both
[00:04:38] Thought it was an employee one of them was sure of it because she worked at
[00:04:43] The same company different location and said she's seen things
[00:04:47] where people take items from patients in
[00:04:53] Doctor's office and hospitals which is sad within itself. So now whenever I go into a
[00:04:58] Hospital or a doctor's office, I'm gonna be extra paranoid that also made me just buy a big umbrella
[00:05:05] So I won't leave it but
[00:05:07] My thing is when I told the two people about it. They were like that's something they would never do
[00:05:13] Take something
[00:05:15] It doesn't belong to them and I'm like, okay. What reason why?
[00:05:20] What what's the reason behind
[00:05:25] Someone taking something they
[00:05:29] Don't have it obviously they don't have
[00:05:32] It's so they take it
[00:05:37] It could be personal it could not be personal especially if you don't know them. I also had
[00:05:45] something else taken from me by
[00:05:50] Someone who I worked with didn't really know didn't really get along with but and it was it was trivial
[00:05:59] Didn't call them out on it. I just
[00:06:04] Locked my stuff up so
[00:06:08] It still felt
[00:06:10] Bad either way but even worse because it was a
[00:06:17] co-worker so
[00:06:21] Do you confront someone after knowing that they took something of yours they're not going who's going to who admits
[00:06:26] Yes, I did and
[00:06:29] Give you a reason who admits that they took took something so even if I did confront them. I don't I didn't expect her to
[00:06:37] confess I
[00:06:38] had a friend who
[00:06:42] Is in the moving process she's moving in and unpacking and
[00:06:48] She noticed some things that were missing so she didn't know if it was a neighbor or maintenance
[00:06:54] I told her I thought it was a neighbor because
[00:06:59] Wouldn't they take more than what they did instead of picking and choosing?
[00:07:04] She said it was done in such a way wet they had they had time to do it
[00:07:07] So I'm thinking it was maintenance was even worse. So I mean you feel violated in your own home
[00:07:12] You're not even safe in your own home
[00:07:15] So you just feel so violated when it happens and then it's it's just just a horrible feeling altogether
[00:07:21] So if you're one who steals
[00:07:24] something
[00:07:25] Think about it. How you would feel if it happens to you
[00:07:30] Don't just do it because you don't have I mean karma is no joke. I
[00:07:36] Wouldn't even feel right doing that because I would just feel that something would happen to me or that item that I would have to take it from someone
[00:07:44] You know how destitute and how?
[00:07:47] Dirty you'd have to be to really
[00:07:50] Take something of someone's especially someone that you've had a conversation with someone that you will see again
[00:07:58] someone who
[00:08:00] You know, I mean anyone really, you know, I mean no other say it's a finder's keepers thing also
[00:08:05] But in the case of my umbrella
[00:08:09] I'm sure someone turned it in I
[00:08:13] Mean no garless what kind of umbrella it was and in fact not it wasn't an issue of it being a designer
[00:08:19] Umbrella, it was the fact it was kind of had sentimental value because I bought it
[00:08:24] During COVID the weekend the world shut down
[00:08:28] I was opposed to go out of town and I was supposed to go to Vegas and I still wanted to go shopping
[00:08:36] and I went to
[00:08:38] This outlet mall and got that umbrella so I've had it for a while barely used it and
[00:08:45] Now what's going so?
[00:08:51] Yeah, I don't even know what lesson to be learned except just
[00:08:55] Lock your things up lock your items up put your name on it
[00:09:00] Maybe I don't even know what to suggest, but I do know to suggest
[00:09:06] Not taking something think of the consequences think of the feelings think if it happened to you or someone that you know
[00:09:14] That's close to you
[00:09:16] How you'd feel how they feel
[00:09:20] Because it's a hurtful
[00:09:23] feeling I
[00:09:26] Just wanted to give you something to think about that just that movie just made me think about that and I
[00:09:33] Apologize on not knowing Sherri Shepherd was in it as well
[00:09:37] It's a lifetime movie. I
[00:09:39] Want to say it's
[00:09:41] Caitlin or the kid I don't I'm not going to make up a name, but it was a very
[00:09:49] Moving story and I'm like weren't there cameras? No one saw it and apparently they weren't working then
[00:09:58] so
[00:09:59] Yes, I it's it's wow. I mean I just
[00:10:04] To be that to feel that desperate
[00:10:08] Where that's your only hope and the lady befriended the woman too
[00:10:13] She tried to make her feel comfortable and I'll watch her for you go home and rest
[00:10:18] She said your baby won't cry for you
[00:10:21] You'll cry for the baby and she pretty much did the whole 23 years
[00:10:30] because she didn't
[00:10:33] Stop looking for
[00:10:36] so
[00:10:39] That's my episode and I hope you enjoyed it enough to
