[00:00:00] What's the most exciting and most watched sport in the United States?

[00:00:11] If you said anything else but football, you lose.

[00:00:19] Welcome to the Air Raid Attack Podcast.

[00:00:23] Nothing's more exciting than college or pro football.

[00:00:27] And when we say football, we don't mean soccer.

[00:00:34] Oh, no.

[00:00:39] We'll hang, we'll give you in-depth analysis and you know what, football and life have

[00:00:44] a lot in common.

[00:00:46] So you'll hear us tackle life topics sometimes too.

[00:00:49] Ready?

[00:00:50] So let's do it.

[00:00:51] This is the Air Raid Attack Podcast.

[00:00:54] Here we go!

[00:00:55] Here we go!

[00:00:56] This is your host, Air Raid Mike.

[00:01:19] What is up everybody?

[00:01:21] Here's Trillie, Air Raid Mike here.

[00:01:23] You're a host of the unscripted unfiltered 100% authentic, the Air Raid Attack Podcast.

[00:01:31] And we got a fun show ahead of you and excuse me, we have a fun show ahead of you.

[00:01:38] And you know, the show just surpassed four years.

[00:01:41] I want to say last week it bought it past four years.

[00:01:44] Don't know to date but it was the opening week and the XFail.

[00:01:48] And so four years ago, and right before COVID hit, I met via the Twitter or via the X, however

[00:01:56] you want to call it.

[00:01:57] A coach by the name of Jason Colley at the time, he was the head coach at Vista Ridge

[00:02:04] High School based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, beautiful state by the way.

[00:02:09] And so hit it off and then, lo and behold we caught back up on Twitter or X, whatever

[00:02:16] you want to call it.

[00:02:18] And here he is.

[00:02:20] So we back.

[00:02:21] So he called it correctly during the pre-show if you want to call it that and saying, hey,

[00:02:27] it was three years ago and I actually looked it up.

[00:02:29] I'm looking at it currently and February 24th.

[00:02:34] That's what I said.

[00:02:35] Yes, February 24th, 2021 he was on.

[00:02:40] So without further ado, let me introduce you to today's guest.

[00:02:45] The head coach of the Mackleigh School in Tallahassee, Florida.

[00:02:51] The one, the only coach Jason Colley coach.

[00:02:58] First of all, I got a lot longer beard than I did probably three years ago.

[00:03:02] Has definitely have more grace in three years ago and you have less hair from three

[00:03:07] years ago.

[00:03:08] Long story short, what is up coach?

[00:03:12] Oh, nothing much.

[00:03:13] I really appreciate it Mike.

[00:03:15] Thank you so much for having me back in this.

[00:03:18] I had fun the first time and it was, it seems like I was thinking about it's like man, just

[00:03:23] seems like so many years ago, but it was only, you know, back in 2021, but it does.

[00:03:28] It's so much has happened in the past three years and it's great to be back

[00:03:32] and I'm, you know, I've been following you all along.

[00:03:35] It's great to see that you're striving and you're doing good stuff now.

[00:03:38] I really appreciate you having me back on and having me a part of this.

[00:03:42] Well, absolutely.

[00:03:44] And, you know, I always tell people, you know, who knows where this is going?

[00:03:48] The end all be all, but I've met phenomenal people.

[00:03:51] You know, you're including that list along the way.

[00:03:54] So, you know, if that's, if that's where it ends or if that's all that what is,

[00:03:59] hey, I rather take that than the fame and everything else.

[00:04:03] You know, I am a static to have you back on.

[00:04:07] And unfortunately, I was hoping to get to call it.

[00:04:09] Well, I did get to Colorado, but not Colorado Springs, but none, none,

[00:04:15] you know, long story short.

[00:04:17] So without further ado, I'm sure you watched a Super Bowl.

[00:04:22] Yes.

[00:04:24] Along with the rest of us that did, whether we'd like it or not.

[00:04:27] You know, that's beside the point.

[00:04:29] Recapping the Super Bowl, Kansas City, of course,

[00:04:34] repeating first time since the Patriots and then the course previously, the Broncos.

[00:04:40] What was your take on the chief season this year?

[00:04:44] And, you know, is I guess we can say is this now officially a dynasty

[00:04:49] that we got in Kansas City with Andy Reed, Patrick Malm's and company?

[00:04:53] You know, I'm going to go ahead and disclose that officially I'm not a chief

[00:04:56] fan and I'm not.

[00:04:58] And it's I mean, I can recognize greatness when I see it.

[00:05:01] Right.

[00:05:02] There's definitely greatness there.

[00:05:03] But you know, I've throughout the past, there's been people that I've

[00:05:08] and started out not liking it ended up liking like Peyton Manning.

[00:05:11] I didn't like him at first.

[00:05:12] I did.

[00:05:13] And I saw his personality and how funny he was off the field and everything.

[00:05:17] And then just kind of drew me to him and already knew he was great.

[00:05:20] And that's kind of like Patrick Malm's.

[00:05:21] I'm not a fan, but I can see his greatness.

[00:05:23] I mean, they're just the dude is great.

[00:05:25] You don't give him any room.

[00:05:27] You don't sit there and try to go, you know, three it out three series

[00:05:33] and around think you're going to win a game.

[00:05:35] Not against that guy.

[00:05:36] There's always a chance when you have passion for home.

[00:05:38] So I recognize your greatness.

[00:05:39] And I watched them throughout the season

[00:05:41] and I didn't think they were as near as good as they have been.

[00:05:45] But you know, saying that, you know, I'm not a LeBron fan either.

[00:05:48] But you go back and you let LeBron stay in it and get him into playoffs.

[00:05:52] And there's always that chance that they're going to win the championship.

[00:05:55] And you know, and I put my homes and LeBron in that same category.

[00:05:59] This they're one of the greatest to ever play a game.

[00:06:02] And I never wanted to say that about my homes.

[00:06:04] Like you kind of got to them.

[00:06:07] You know, he'll pair it up with Andy Reed and the rest of the crew with.

[00:06:12] You know, I guess I got to throw Kelsey in there with that too.

[00:06:15] But it hurts.

[00:06:17] It hurts.

[00:06:17] But, you know, like I said, it's they're not my cup of tea as far as

[00:06:21] like my favorite, but man, they're good.

[00:06:23] And you know, it's like with the basketball, I watched to try to watch

[00:06:27] somebody lose and, you know, and it's always disappointing because you always

[00:06:30] it's always the great ones that you want to lose and they don't lose.

[00:06:33] And then that's the same thing with the Chief.

[00:06:36] You know, watching a game.

[00:06:38] I really thought that the 49ers were a better team.

[00:06:41] I just really did.

[00:06:43] I love the way Kyle Shanahan was the offense and the way

[00:06:48] Purdy manages it and the weapons he has around him.

[00:06:50] I'm infatuated with, you know, Christian McCaffrey and Devo Samuel,

[00:06:54] you throw Kittle and and, you know, the bunch in there.

[00:06:57] And it's just like, man, how do you stop all that?

[00:06:59] And, you know, they I thought they definitely set the tone of 49ers

[00:07:03] early, even though they weren't scored.

[00:07:05] I just thought they really set the tone of they can do what they wanted to do.

[00:07:10] Saying that the Chiefs hung in there.

[00:07:12] They weren't lightened up.

[00:07:14] They weren't sitting the world on fire, but they were they were doing

[00:07:18] what they, you know, Patrick Mahomes do.

[00:07:20] Keeping minute. He's going to make you pay, you know, going into the second half.

[00:07:23] I was kind of excited.

[00:07:24] You know, this was the first time my wife had let my 12 year old son

[00:07:28] stay up late for watching the game.

[00:07:30] And he had a beggar Mike.

[00:07:31] He was sitting there.

[00:07:32] Mom, it's a Super Bowl, mom.

[00:07:35] It's a Super Bowl and love it.

[00:07:37] Getting to an older age.

[00:07:38] He cares about it more.

[00:07:40] And so he I think he really wanted the 49ers win because he thought

[00:07:44] it's brought Purdy and Christian McCaffrey football cards would go up

[00:07:47] in price a little bit after the game.

[00:07:50] But he usually follows what his dad does.

[00:07:53] You know, coming out in the second half and I was so excited.

[00:07:55] And I thought it was a good halftime show.

[00:07:56] It wasn't, you know, some some people liked it.

[00:07:58] Some people didn't, but I thought it was pretty cool.

[00:08:00] I like usher.

[00:08:02] But I, you know,

[00:08:06] there there's so much better than I am.

[00:08:07] I'm a high school football coach.

[00:08:09] That's what I am.

[00:08:10] So there are so much more than me and they know so much more.

[00:08:13] But I was just so amazed how you come out and you have someone

[00:08:17] who has 80, 90 yards in the first half and you sit there and you go

[00:08:19] three and out because you're trying to throw the ball six times in a row.

[00:08:23] And I kind of had that feeling that the the momentum or the shift was

[00:08:27] going to come and it ended up coming and they didn't get back into game

[00:08:30] plan until a little bit later.

[00:08:33] You know, you have a miss kick, you have a block kick,

[00:08:35] and that's just something you cannot do against the Chiefs.

[00:08:38] And they're they're great for a reason.

[00:08:41] I like you said, I don't want to say it, but you got to put them

[00:08:45] in that dynasty. You got you got to start talking about it.

[00:08:48] If you have it before it's time to say, all right, well, they're one.

[00:08:52] I don't care if you like them, if you love them,

[00:08:54] if you hate them, if you despise them.

[00:08:56] I know they got a lot more attention this year than they really ever had.

[00:09:00] And I definitely don't want to go into that.

[00:09:01] But please, that's not.

[00:09:07] Well, I got in fights with my nieces about it and everything else.

[00:09:12] And over Christmas break.

[00:09:15] But but you know, it was.

[00:09:19] Football wise, though, man, they're just they are there.

[00:09:22] There's just so good in it.

[00:09:24] And it's kind of like the Lakers, you knew me for the Lakers.

[00:09:27] I'm an MJ fan.

[00:09:28] I'm a Michael fan all the way.

[00:09:30] So when I look at the Lakers, I'm like, man, I just want to show everybody.

[00:09:33] So I hope they lose. I hope they lose.

[00:09:35] You know, when you got twenty three on the other side for the Lakers,

[00:09:38] it's it's not going to happen most of the time,

[00:09:40] especially if you get him into the postseason.

[00:09:43] And that's the same way with my home.

[00:09:44] That's the same way with any great.

[00:09:47] And I don't use the word go too often, but that's what you get.

[00:09:50] Some of the greatest of all time.

[00:09:51] You just put them in that situation and they rise to the occasion.

[00:09:56] Yeah, I mean, I'm with him there, of course, being a Bronco fan.

[00:09:59] I was not rooting for Kansas City.

[00:10:02] Literally, he's like a brother to me.

[00:10:04] He lives out in Arizona and he's like, but there's a few OU players.

[00:10:09] And I just I'm sorry.

[00:10:11] I can't do it.

[00:10:12] No disrespect for my sooner brothers,

[00:10:14] Creed Hubford being the big one at the center spot.

[00:10:17] I can't. I just it's we've had a rough last eight years

[00:10:22] and adding this to insult the injury.

[00:10:25] And so, you know, it's tough.

[00:10:28] But again, you know, Andy Reid is a phenomenal coach.

[00:10:30] Passes my home as a phenomenal quarterback.

[00:10:33] I'm not going to lie.

[00:10:34] I didn't expect this out of him coming out of Texas Tech.

[00:10:37] Yeah. I mean, he was a great player in Lubbock, obviously,

[00:10:40] but I didn't think, you know, to this caliber.

[00:10:42] But now it's going to be interesting what Kansas City does.

[00:10:46] I mean, can they keep it?

[00:10:47] We've never seen a team that three peded.

[00:10:49] Yeah. Denver, I really, really thought

[00:10:53] John Airway was going to come back just to do it,

[00:10:55] but obviously didn't.

[00:10:58] New England obviously did it.

[00:10:59] So we'll see.

[00:11:03] You know, is there is there a chance that they can root three Peter?

[00:11:06] Is it too soon to call just because of everything

[00:11:08] that's in formation with free agency and draft and so on and so forth?

[00:11:12] You know, I think it's too soon.

[00:11:14] And and maybe it's just wishful thinking,

[00:11:18] but you see things within and I do anyway.

[00:11:21] I see things within our hope.

[00:11:23] I see things within them and that that let this that tells me, man,

[00:11:28] some things are breaking apart, you know, and as great as my homes is

[00:11:33] a lot of his greatness is him, you know, coming up,

[00:11:37] you know, just you just ablib and do what he has to do to make the play.

[00:11:41] And, you know, and that's the great thing when you have a guy

[00:11:44] that's a pocket dude that don't do that kind of stuff is he can keep that

[00:11:47] and he can maintain that through the years.

[00:11:50] And it's harder for for quarterbacks, in my opinion,

[00:11:53] that that play like passion with Holmes and you don't.

[00:11:56] I mean, he's a generational guy, but it's hard to keep that up as you age.

[00:12:00] And I'm not saying he's old, but it's every year it gets harder and harder

[00:12:04] and harder. And, you know, you're going to have division within teams,

[00:12:08] especially when you start, you know, reaching that success,

[00:12:10] if they have reached that they won't theirs, you know,

[00:12:14] they don't think they're getting there.

[00:12:15] So maybe they want to go somewhere else to get theirs.

[00:12:18] And, you know, and I'm not saying I never want to wish failure on anybody,

[00:12:23] but, you know, that's kind of what I'm seeing in that regard,

[00:12:26] because I didn't think they were the team they had been in the past this year.

[00:12:30] But I tell you, if you got Chris Jones on that defense

[00:12:32] line, he's going to make it hard for any team to succeed on offense.

[00:12:36] He's such a disruptor in what he does and he's just he's magical man.

[00:12:43] You know, of course, you know, you know, switching

[00:12:46] in a real quick Kansas City course back to, you know, the runner up

[00:12:50] if there is such a thing in the Super Bowl, but San Francisco course

[00:12:54] coach Wilkes is out as defensive coordinator.

[00:12:57] A little surprising just because they were ranked, I think, eighth

[00:12:59] in the defensive side of the ball when it came to rankings top 10 defense.

[00:13:07] Escape go potentially, is that where we kind of end up with this on this one?

[00:13:11] You know, when I first saw it, that's the first thing that came of mind.

[00:13:14] But I'm not in the minds of those guys and I don't know what goes on.

[00:13:17] Right. You know what I mean?

[00:13:18] But you definitely got to think that because when you think of San Francisco,

[00:13:22] you think about controlling the ball and you think about playing great defense

[00:13:26] and they didn't even in a Super Bowl.

[00:13:28] I mean, to hold my home so what they held him as the game.

[00:13:33] They it's not like they played a bad game on defense.

[00:13:37] But you never know what goes on behind the scenes.

[00:13:41] And, you know, for so for me to sit there and and say, yes,

[00:13:45] it was just escape good thing. I don't know.

[00:13:48] I hope not because that's just ruining not ruining career,

[00:13:52] but that's putting a damper on someone who's done an amazing job

[00:13:55] throughout the career and just to just to put it on him.

[00:13:59] Just where you won't feel the heat.

[00:14:01] I hope it's not a skate good thing.

[00:14:02] I hope there was, you know, something more where he either

[00:14:06] he wanted to part or or something else.

[00:14:08] I just I would hate to see someone lose her job

[00:14:13] after doing such an amazing job and, you know, for so long.

[00:14:17] I mean, the guy's done it all year long. So.

[00:14:20] I got to ask you this because you're obviously familiar with the Rocky Mountains.

[00:14:26] I know, you know, you spent some time in Colorado

[00:14:28] where I obviously talked that here in a bid on the show as well.

[00:14:31] The Denver Broncos, you know, Sean Payton, excuse me, Sean Payton

[00:14:39] first year, first year in Denver.

[00:14:42] And it didn't go as what a lot of people plan.

[00:14:46] Russ, the Russell Wilson experience

[00:14:50] has not even lifted off.

[00:14:51] I don't know where it's landed, if anywhere.

[00:14:55] And the list goes on.

[00:14:57] I still think often to line issues, but the defense is trying to hang on.

[00:15:01] But they can only do so much.

[00:15:04] Question one, a

[00:15:07] where in the world does this Denver

[00:15:09] this Denver organization go and.

[00:15:14] Number two, should they trade up high and give up?

[00:15:19] I'm sure quite a bit to try to grab their franchise quarterback potentially,

[00:15:23] even though we've seen a ton of lists of quarterback.

[00:15:28] There's something like the Cleveland Browns getting that list long.

[00:15:31] It's they've seen quite a bit come through Denver.

[00:15:34] What's what's the issue in Denver, in your opinion?

[00:15:38] You know, I would love to see them get back to

[00:15:41] the way they were when they were so successful.

[00:15:44] You know, they had Alex Gibbs as their offensive line coach

[00:15:48] and they had that inside zone working like, you know,

[00:15:50] I'm sorry, the stretch that wide zone, not the inside,

[00:15:53] but the wide zone working with trail Davis.

[00:15:56] And at this time in Elway's career, he wasn't.

[00:16:00] You know, it is so great.

[00:16:01] And they're not the same, but Elway was very

[00:16:04] manuble. He was very mobile.

[00:16:06] And he made the plays that my home's made early on in his career.

[00:16:10] And then he kind of changed the way he was later on this career

[00:16:13] because he knew that, hey, I'm going to facilitate and let these guys work

[00:16:16] and and do what I do good, but I'm going to set it up with what I have.

[00:16:20] I would love to see them get back to that.

[00:16:21] I don't think they need to to sell the farm to get back where they need to be.

[00:16:26] I do think they need someone else

[00:16:29] running the offense or running the show,

[00:16:31] but I don't think they need to trade everybody up to just to get that one guy.

[00:16:35] Because I don't in my opinion, I don't see that one guy in this year's draft.

[00:16:39] That no, I just don't.

[00:16:41] You know, I mean, you look at Caleb Williams, you look at

[00:16:45] Pinnock's, you look at, you know, you look at Drake May and and I love Drake May.

[00:16:49] I mean, I was, you know, being an air raid guy, you know, seeing what he did in North Carolina.

[00:16:54] I love it, but I just don't see

[00:16:59] selling everything just to get that.

[00:17:01] I mean, I think you can you can sell a few pieces to to show up the offense alone.

[00:17:05] Now, I thought that, you know, that's the big thing of it.

[00:17:08] You know, I think they need to double headed back work,

[00:17:12] you know, working in the backfield and, you know,

[00:17:18] there was parts where I liked Denver.

[00:17:19] And it was, you know, I'm a Patriots fan.

[00:17:21] So that there was there was a lot that they Brady struggled beating the Broncos.

[00:17:26] So that was always that thing with me.

[00:17:27] Ah, the Broncos.

[00:17:28] Oh, the Broncos.

[00:17:29] I had my time because I was a Mel Way fan.

[00:17:34] Shoot, man, I was a Jake Plummer fan.

[00:17:36] I was a huge Jake Plummer fan.

[00:17:38] And I think that's what lost me with the Broncos is when they

[00:17:42] it was midseason and they took him out when they were in the head of their division.

[00:17:46] And oh, crap, well, Jay Cutler, is that who it was?

[00:17:49] Yep, Ben, at a Vanderbilt.

[00:17:51] Yep. Put Jay Cutler in and and that kind of gave me that.

[00:17:55] Oh, I hate you now, Broncos.

[00:17:56] Why did you do that?

[00:17:57] And then they ended up not making the playoffs, not saying that Plummer would

[00:18:00] have done it at the time they were set to be in the playoffs.

[00:18:04] But but no, I don't I don't think they need to sell it right now.

[00:18:07] I just don't.

[00:18:09] Don't think there's more things to fix than just a quarterback.

[00:18:13] And if that guy is not in the draft right now, don't ruin yourself for the years to come.

[00:18:18] Just just know that you're going to it's a process.

[00:18:22] And and you know, I think Payton's smart.

[00:18:25] And like you said, I don't know what's going on with the whole Russell.

[00:18:29] I did not see this downfall coming.

[00:18:31] I didn't.

[00:18:32] I'm not saying I thought he was going to stay the way he was.

[00:18:35] I didn't see the.

[00:18:37] The sudden drop.

[00:18:39] It was that to me was just kind of weird.

[00:18:44] But no, I think things like you said, they need to fix what's going on with the

[00:18:48] offensive line first.

[00:18:50] If you can't protect you, there's not one guy in the draft, in my opinion,

[00:18:54] you put back there.

[00:18:55] But if you don't have a with a, you know, a shotty defense

[00:18:59] offensive line that's going to make a difference, because he still

[00:19:02] don't have all the weapons on the outside and all the weapons behind him either.

[00:19:06] So no, I just you may it may take a few years to get back there.

[00:19:10] But if you do it smart, you know, and just keep building your after year

[00:19:13] and a few year and I think eventually you can do it.

[00:19:17] I would I definitely think they need to do guide the hell no.

[00:19:21] Me and a quarterback.

[00:19:23] I don't know who it's going to be.

[00:19:24] I mean, there's people out there, but just get somebody that can manage it.

[00:19:30] And that's it.

[00:19:31] And that's the end.

[00:19:32] You nailed it right there is who who is it?

[00:19:34] We don't know.

[00:19:36] As my dad always said, when growing up with her, you know,

[00:19:39] if it was a coach or a player, if you're going to get rid of somebody

[00:19:43] or fire a coach depends on the circumstance.

[00:19:45] Yeah, you better have somebody in place and you better think that

[00:19:49] they're better than that one person you got rid of got fired of.

[00:19:52] Who's that quarterback out there that can sit here and say,

[00:19:55] well, I can take this Denver team, maybe finish second,

[00:19:59] maybe not make the playoffs, but hey, at least we got more wins

[00:20:02] than last year and so on and so forth.

[00:20:04] I don't know.

[00:20:05] I don't really know.

[00:20:07] Drake may I'm phenomenal.

[00:20:08] I like Drake may I don't know if he's the answer.

[00:20:10] I like Bo Nix, but I don't know if he's the answer, but it goes back to,

[00:20:14] you know, do I think it's do we give up our first this year?

[00:20:18] Of course, you know, probably when you're swapping, you know,

[00:20:20] then your first next year, I don't think so.

[00:20:22] Because I think they honestly, they set them back

[00:20:25] from that Russell Wilson train, but anyway, I mean, I digress, but

[00:20:30] they did.

[00:20:31] They who is your protein, right?

[00:20:34] Denver is never.

[00:20:36] Yeah, I thought I thought I remember that.

[00:20:38] I just wanted to make sure, you know, I mean, I mean, I don't

[00:20:42] even look at you the surprise for me for the NFL was with Joe Flacco.

[00:20:46] I never saw that coming.

[00:20:48] Never, ever, ever saw that coming.

[00:20:51] And you know, and I know he's kind of trying to make a bid to

[00:20:54] make a trade to go somewhere else and all that from what I hear.

[00:20:56] If it's something that's circulating around, but you know,

[00:20:59] do you get that better?

[00:21:00] And that's just going to go in there.

[00:21:01] Who can who can run that type of offense where you're facilitating

[00:21:05] the two to your back and hitting the mid level and set up to play

[00:21:09] action pass.

[00:21:10] And I don't know, I would love to see them set it up like that.

[00:21:13] You're never going to get an Alex Gibbs back at your office

[00:21:16] because you're not going to get you're not going to get that guy.

[00:21:19] But but maybe there's I don't know just the way they read their

[00:21:24] offense back there was beautiful.

[00:21:26] Of course, all of NFL has changed now is everything's in

[00:21:29] the air now.

[00:21:30] And look, I mean, I'm an air raid guy.

[00:21:33] So I love me personally out there the crap out of the ball,

[00:21:36] but there's nothing more I like to see than watch somebody

[00:21:38] grind it out.

[00:21:39] I mean, I love watching like with the 49ers.

[00:21:42] That's why I love to watch them just love to see them run

[00:21:44] the ball.

[00:21:44] Just run that ball.

[00:21:45] Oh, I'm an Alabama fan.

[00:21:47] Watch the old school Alabama, not the new school

[00:21:49] Alabama, the old school Alabama just run the ball, man.

[00:21:53] But but you know, in high school, I do sometimes if you

[00:21:56] don't have those weapons, you got to do what you know.

[00:21:58] I know throwing the ball.

[00:21:59] So no, it's going to be interesting.

[00:22:05] What happens?

[00:22:07] Speaking of, you know, you mentioned Alabama and, you

[00:22:10] know, it's been a crazy last few weeks or month.

[00:22:15] If you're if you're into college football, I know

[00:22:17] obviously we're you're at where I'm at.

[00:22:21] You know, college football is a big deal.

[00:22:23] Yeah, it's a big, big deal in Oklahoma and Florida.

[00:22:27] So it's a very big deal.

[00:22:29] If you don't think it is, I don't know what to think of about you.

[00:22:32] But but but but anyway, jokes aside, your first reaction

[00:22:42] on Nick's savings retirement, of course, out of nowhere that I'm aware of.

[00:22:46] Nobody was literally shocked by it.

[00:22:48] And then coach DeBoer, your thoughts on him stepping in

[00:22:52] literally big shoes to fail.

[00:22:53] It's going to be hard.

[00:22:54] It's regardless of how well or good he or how well or bad he does.

[00:22:58] Well, bad doesn't matter at that point.

[00:23:01] His shoes may never be filled, maybe tough to get any way.

[00:23:06] Alabama's new head coach and your thoughts on Nick's saving, retiring

[00:23:09] and going in his separate ways.

[00:23:12] Man, so I mean, more than raised, I'm going to go Alabama.

[00:23:16] So I'm an Alabama guy.

[00:23:17] I love Notre Dame.

[00:23:18] I love Alabama.

[00:23:21] It wasn't so much of a shock as it was a relief to me.

[00:23:25] And I think saving is the best thing never happened to

[00:23:29] the I think you're an idiot if you don't think so.

[00:23:32] He is the greatest thing ever happened in university.

[00:23:34] He is one of the greatest college coaches ever to say he's the greatest.

[00:23:39] Is kind of I mean, you just can't say he's great.

[00:23:40] But I think he is definitely the top one or two or three.

[00:23:43] And I would I would say one.

[00:23:45] That's just my opinion.

[00:23:46] Yeah, I wasn't shocked.

[00:23:47] I was more relieved because I'm like, good for him.

[00:23:50] Good for him and take a break.

[00:23:53] Breathe, go out on your boat, man.

[00:23:55] Go spend time with Terry.

[00:23:56] You've done it all.

[00:23:57] You have done it all in the landscape.

[00:23:59] You know, the great thing about being a Florida

[00:24:02] coach in the Florida, all the coaches come to your school,

[00:24:04] all these colleges, they come to your school and you get to talk to all of them.

[00:24:08] All the college coaches you talk to and they're like, man,

[00:24:12] I miss high school.

[00:24:13] You know, like I want to go to NFL.

[00:24:15] I can't do college anymore.

[00:24:16] And it's all because of the NIL and the transfer report on everything that's going

[00:24:20] on is when you hear these college coaches that that aren't

[00:24:24] Coach Jason Colley, the head coach of

[00:24:29] Matt Clay School in Tallahassee are a guest and believe he is.

[00:24:35] Rosen there at the moment, but we'll keep things going.

[00:24:41] Of course, Alabama, if you been sleeping under underneath a rock,

[00:24:45] you miss quite a bit.

[00:24:47] Alabama, of course, Nick saving retirement, retiring.

[00:24:52] And let's just be honest, one greatest

[00:24:56] who to definitely coach in college football.

[00:24:59] Let me get back to one for now and definitely in college football.

[00:25:03] Nonetheless, and Coach DeBoer, regardless of what people think,

[00:25:07] you know, was he the right guy?

[00:25:11] You know, it's tough to really say because really, in my opinion,

[00:25:14] I don't think there's a right guy to come in to fill in for Alabama's

[00:25:18] Nick Saban and to to take over because regardless of if he's doing bad,

[00:25:24] it doesn't matter how well his shoes are to fill them.

[00:25:28] But, you know, the media expectations, what Nick Saban said

[00:25:32] at Alabama can coach DeBoer come in.

[00:25:37] Obviously, different style to an extent when it comes to playing,

[00:25:42] you know, so it's going to be interesting.

[00:25:47] Hey, NIL transfer portal.

[00:25:50] I think I've said that so many times on this and other people's pods is.

[00:25:57] It's a tough gig.

[00:25:58] The NIL transfer portal is a really tough one to

[00:26:05] really tough one to grasp because I completely get from the NIL standpoint.

[00:26:10] But at the same time, a lot of these colleges

[00:26:13] have started to become a practically like an auction.

[00:26:18] Let's put it that way, an auction.

[00:26:20] And the transfer portal is kind of like what the what

[00:26:27] what the society is now.

[00:26:28] And, you know, we we got to

[00:26:34] got to go, you know, what's best suited if it doesn't suit us.

[00:26:37] Well, I'm going to go here and that's fine.

[00:26:38] But I don't know.

[00:26:41] I'm still on the fence with the transfer portal.

[00:26:43] I think there's got to be a limit to it one way or another.

[00:26:48] I don't know what that looks like from the NCAA.

[00:26:53] I don't know.

[00:26:55] But we are I know Jason Colley gets

[00:26:59] course, if you guys are just tuning in.

[00:27:04] Jason Colley, the head coach

[00:27:06] of Macley School in Tallahassee, Florida is today's guest.

[00:27:12] He's having a little technical difficulty as we speak at the moment.

[00:27:16] But if you're watching right now.

[00:27:20] Below whatever platform you're watching it from, whether it's YouTube,

[00:27:23] Facebook, X, which is Twitter, if you didn't know that or Twitch.

[00:27:29] I'm curious, let's do Q&A Q&A on the bottom.

[00:27:34] Type in where you're from questions, thoughts.

[00:27:38] The SEC Texas athletic director believes that the SEC

[00:27:43] will go to a nine game conference schedule

[00:27:46] starting no earlier than twenty or no later than twenty six.

[00:27:50] You may see that in twenty five after

[00:27:53] after this season, of course, says important.

[00:27:57] The newest member of the SEC soon, Oklahoma.

[00:28:01] But. Yeah, I mean, again, Q&A session.

[00:28:07] We're going to do it live right now.

[00:28:09] If you're watching Twitter or or Twitter,

[00:28:12] X, like Twitter, X better.

[00:28:14] That sounds better, cool than just X or Twitter.

[00:28:17] Twitter, X, YouTube, Facebook and Twitch.

[00:28:22] Sit in your comments.

[00:28:23] If you're a wrestling fan.

[00:28:26] Thoughts on WrestleMania 40.

[00:28:29] Is came Cody Rhodes finished story.

[00:28:33] I don't really care about him.

[00:28:36] I think the segment starting to go a little bit farther.

[00:28:40] Then.

[00:28:43] In my opinion, just a little bit.

[00:28:46] A little bit.

[00:28:47] So let's do this.

[00:28:50] I was going to make an announcement

[00:28:53] on Twitter or X if you're not following me,

[00:28:56] follow me on their air raid, Mike or

[00:29:00] or both air raid podcast.

[00:29:03] And so this year in twenty twenty four,

[00:29:08] we will I'm going to do a first ever

[00:29:12] onsite live episode.

[00:29:15] What does that mean?

[00:29:16] Well, what that means is the podcast

[00:29:20] will be recorded live just like right now.

[00:29:22] Say, for example, this is going to be live.

[00:29:25] This is live.

[00:29:28] Here's my background.

[00:29:29] You got.

[00:29:31] You know, Memorial Stadium there,

[00:29:35] the Robarco Jersey.

[00:29:39] Oh, you. Cool.

[00:29:44] So that's obviously that's that's on site.

[00:29:46] So to be well, what we're going to be doing,

[00:29:49] I'm going to be doing is.

[00:29:52] Doing onsite episodes in the stadium background

[00:29:57] somewhere we're going to try to get the goal is

[00:30:00] to try to get the stadium in the background one way or another.

[00:30:04] Now, I'm sure there's probably rules, regulations, stuff like that,

[00:30:06] which, you know, of course, I'll.

[00:30:10] Make sure that nothing's nothing is.

[00:30:15] You know, nobody's any issues and stuff like that.

[00:30:20] No, you know.

[00:30:21] So but November 23rd,

[00:30:28] I will say that November 23rd,

[00:30:31] the hosts of the Herb and Raj podcast, my good friends,

[00:30:36] Herb and Raj will actually be coming to Norman, Oklahoma.

[00:30:41] Whoa, Norman, Oklahoma for

[00:30:46] the Alabama, Oklahoma game.

[00:30:50] And I would imagine as much as everybody else is

[00:30:54] should be a night game you would imagine. But.

[00:31:00] The point of the story is the

[00:31:04] I believe that come off the touch base with them and get the all the final details.

[00:31:08] But.

[00:31:12] Is that.

[00:31:14] We will be doing the first live on site.

[00:31:18] Episode now, row games.

[00:31:24] So that's official is Herb and Raj on site in Norman with air raid

[00:31:30] as the onsite

[00:31:33] live episode at Memorial Stadium.

[00:31:35] Now, at the same time, row games, what does that look like?

[00:31:39] We're still in the works.

[00:31:40] That's good.

[00:31:40] You know, that's good.

[00:31:42] You know, that's we could see Missouri being a big one.

[00:31:46] Just right.

[00:31:46] Straight by 44 to Columbia, potentially on that one.

[00:31:53] I think that's the closest one.

[00:31:54] Now, what would be cool?

[00:31:56] Dallas and Texas down Dallas, Texas, the Cotton Bowl.

[00:32:00] So we will see.

[00:32:03] But that's just a few of many things that's coming.

[00:32:07] Coming around for.

[00:32:10] The podcast.

[00:32:18] Currently waiting.

[00:32:21] On.

[00:32:23] See if we can get Mr. Jason Kauley.

[00:32:26] Jason Kauley back the head coach Matt Matt Clay.

[00:32:31] School down Tallahassee.

[00:32:34] Q&A session.

[00:32:35] If you have any, if you're watching live or listening and you're able to send

[00:32:40] comments or whatever, send them post.

[00:32:43] They'll get posted on the show.

[00:32:47] And.

[00:32:50] We will go.

[00:32:53] From there.

[00:32:55] Let's see.

[00:33:04] Keep this up to see.

[00:33:11] Denver Broncos.

[00:33:14] You know, I don't know what the Denver Broncos are going to do.

[00:33:17] I know that.

[00:33:20] Definitely got to figure out the quarterback position, whether it

[00:33:23] restructures Russell Wilson's contract.

[00:33:26] I don't know if that's an option or not.

[00:33:29] Or.

[00:33:32] I don't know.

[00:33:33] I would imagine that I wouldn't think that would be.

[00:33:40] You know, the running back core, I think is fine.

[00:33:43] The receiving, you know, is it is Cortland?

[00:33:46] Is Cortland your and Judy still your top two Marvin Mims?

[00:33:49] I think it's going to be phenomenal receiver.

[00:33:52] Once once he gets in the group.

[00:33:55] So.

[00:33:58] Let's see update.

[00:34:00] So his screens not budging.

[00:34:03] So it could be a technical issue.

[00:34:07] We'll shoot 10 more minutes.

[00:34:09] Watching on the live comment below.

[00:34:13] Questions thoughts.

[00:34:15] The answer is.

[00:34:16] Watching on the live comment below.

[00:34:20] Questions thoughts.

[00:34:23] The NFL script, if you guys believe in that is the

[00:34:26] NFL scripted.

[00:34:29] You know, I couldn't see why you know, couldn't see why

[00:34:33] you wouldn't think that the college football.

[00:34:38] What's your thoughts on the on the new look?

[00:34:43] SEC, the new look big 12, especially the big 12.

[00:34:48] Oklahoma, Texas leaving the big 12.

[00:34:51] Arizona, Colorado's coming back.

[00:34:54] Utah, Arizona states joining.

[00:34:57] I think the big 12, I don't know if they're I'm sure

[00:35:00] they're still going to be in the in one of the power five

[00:35:03] will be considered as power five, which will be down

[00:35:06] the power four.

[00:35:08] The elimination of the pack 12.

[00:35:12] But I think the big 12 is really the one that's going

[00:35:16] to be wide open.

[00:35:18] Arizona, I know they went through a coaching change

[00:35:22] and phenomenal season, all credit to them and what

[00:35:26] they've done this year, especially.

[00:35:31] Beating.

[00:35:33] Beating my seniors in the Alamable pretty handy

[00:35:36] to my dad, but we were going to talk.

[00:35:42] Colorado Springs to Tallahassee unsure as to what is going on.

[00:35:49] I believe he is still.

[00:35:54] We may.

[00:35:57] At these short messages.

[00:36:00] We might get back on.

[00:36:03] I got you on my phone now.

[00:36:04] Hey, I was born to.

[00:36:08] I was trying to carry this this combo.

[00:36:10] I think that I think my listeners probably who is

[00:36:14] out there think they fell asleep on me.

[00:36:16] I think you're the main attraction their coach.

[00:36:20] Yeah, it was.

[00:36:22] Yeah, I don't know what happened.

[00:36:23] My screen just froze.

[00:36:24] I sent their weight and weight and I can't.

[00:36:27] I can't.

[00:36:28] I can't.

[00:36:29] I can't.

[00:36:30] I can't.

[00:36:31] My screen just froze.

[00:36:32] I sent their weight and weight and I couldn't move the cursor

[00:36:35] at all.

[00:36:36] And I'm like, all right, I was sitting there.

[00:36:39] I'm like, well, let me try on my phone.

[00:36:40] I don't think it'll work.

[00:36:41] But let me see.

[00:36:42] But it works.

[00:36:44] It's all good.

[00:36:45] You got those.

[00:36:46] Those things happen.

[00:36:47] I'm not even concerned about it.

[00:36:52] I think I think when we left off, you is asking about saving

[00:36:55] and all that.

[00:36:56] And I was saying I was glad for him.

[00:37:01] And a lot of people in the Alabama community were a little upset

[00:37:04] because they didn't know much about the bear and all this.

[00:37:07] And, you know, I'm just, it wasn't like I was super excited.

[00:37:11] It wasn't like, oh man, this is the best hire ever.

[00:37:14] But the guys won everywhere he's been.

[00:37:17] He's won with less.

[00:37:19] And like give him a shot.

[00:37:21] I mean, you're not going to replace Nick Saban.

[00:37:24] Nobody's going to come in there and be a big.

[00:37:26] And so he'd let the dude do his thing, give him a space

[00:37:29] and just trust the process.

[00:37:31] If it doesn't work, hey, guess what?

[00:37:33] We can start over.

[00:37:34] But you're just not going to pick off where you were.

[00:37:38] You're just not going to do it.

[00:37:40] Just know that the guy has his own way and he can probably get

[00:37:44] the job done if you just let him do it.

[00:37:46] He's done it everywhere he's been.

[00:37:47] He succeeded.

[00:37:48] So let's give him a shot, man.

[00:37:50] Let's just sit down and enjoy the ride and say it's going

[00:37:54] to be different.

[00:37:56] You know, and I've always been attracted to pack 12 football

[00:38:00] anyway, just because I like throwing the ball.

[00:38:03] And so it's going to be a thing that's going to be interesting.

[00:38:06] It's, you know, I think, you know, I know they started

[00:38:09] throwing the ball more once they got to it and a few other

[00:38:13] people, but you know, this guy, he brings a different

[00:38:17] approach to throwing the ball.

[00:38:19] So I like what he does and interested to see what he

[00:38:21] does with the talent that he has.

[00:38:24] No, I think that's going to be definitely interesting.

[00:38:26] I love how these way too early predictions.

[00:38:28] I just like, I just like reading them and listening

[00:38:31] to people's thoughts because I mean, literally now Nick's

[00:38:34] saving the gone.

[00:38:35] This team six and six, seven or five, eight and four, nine

[00:38:38] and three.

[00:38:39] And I'm like, so they may have a tough year.

[00:38:42] I don't know what they got coming back, regardless if Nick

[00:38:45] was there or not, but you know, they sit there

[00:38:49] and say Alabama could go seven and five.

[00:38:51] I mean, it's possible.

[00:38:52] Don't get me wrong, but I mean anything's possible, but to

[00:38:56] sit there.

[00:38:57] I mean, I'm not going to sit there and say Alabama was

[00:38:58] going to go 12 and 0 either, but you know, kind of calm

[00:39:02] down guys.

[00:39:03] It's going to be okay.

[00:39:04] I think for Alabama, you know, a lot of change in

[00:39:08] this soon to be three years since you were last

[00:39:11] on the college football landscape as we know it

[00:39:14] has completely bonk it out.

[00:39:16] And we've seen so much now that I don't know

[00:39:20] where this is sports going.

[00:39:22] Pack 12 is despised.

[00:39:24] Big 12 loses to two mega teams.

[00:39:27] And I don't know a lot of people don't like that, but

[00:39:29] it's the truth.

[00:39:30] The money makers, Oklahoma and Texas go into the

[00:39:33] SEC, which is phenomenal move on both their parts.

[00:39:36] Great additions to the SEC for the SEC as well.

[00:39:40] Grabbing Oklahoma and Texas.

[00:39:42] The ACC course, you always start to hear rumblings

[00:39:47] now Florida state trying to get out.

[00:39:49] And is that going to be North Carolina's and

[00:39:51] Clemson's green light and then the rest of the

[00:39:53] history from there, the big 10 adding really the

[00:39:57] only best teams for the exception of UCLA and

[00:40:00] coming there.

[00:40:04] But what's your thoughts on the landscape's

[00:40:06] direction of college football and you know,

[00:40:09] being a high school coach, you're really close

[00:40:11] to it just because due to recruiting purposes,

[00:40:13] regardless of its NCD1A D or FBS, FCS and lower tier.

[00:40:20] But you're obviously closer than I am connection wise.

[00:40:24] As a high school coach in the foot of the game,

[00:40:28] where in the world is the college ranking landscape

[00:40:32] going and is it the better?

[00:40:35] Are we going to start seeing it for the worst?

[00:40:39] I mean, I love college football so much.

[00:40:42] I don't want to see it go for the worst,

[00:40:44] but you looking at what's going on and it.

[00:40:49] I don't like the way that it that it's shifting.

[00:40:52] And you know, and I think things need to be

[00:40:54] changed especially for you know,

[00:40:56] the college football playoff.

[00:40:58] Look, my team got in so I was happy.

[00:41:02] But you know where I live people weren't so happy.

[00:41:06] And you know, but I understand that.

[00:41:09] I did think that it needs to be expanded and it is expanding,

[00:41:16] but you got all these conferences that are shaken up

[00:41:19] and breaking up and and you know,

[00:41:22] it's exciting for one because you get to see

[00:41:24] new competition and every year scheduling.

[00:41:29] But man, I love the whole tradition of the old college football.

[00:41:33] You know, like when Oklahoma what was struggling

[00:41:36] for a couple years?

[00:41:37] It didn't seem like college football.

[00:41:39] You know, when Alabama was hitting their, you know,

[00:41:43] low time, you know, with their carousel of coaches

[00:41:47] and the Mike Price and all that.

[00:41:51] It wasn't it didn't seem right.

[00:41:54] You know, the same thing with Texas.

[00:41:56] I mean, I'm not a Texas fan,

[00:41:57] but it don't seem right when they're not good.

[00:42:00] Look, I in Nebraska, what's got?

[00:42:04] I love to see the old days of Nebraska's

[00:42:08] mystique come back into college football.

[00:42:11] And I think that's when college football is at its best.

[00:42:17] With the kind, I mean, I don't know what's going on with ACC.

[00:42:21] I mean, the lawsuits of Florida states going through with the ACC

[00:42:24] trying to get out, are they going to get out?

[00:42:26] They made it get out.

[00:42:27] They're not going to get out.

[00:42:28] You know, I don't know.

[00:42:30] I'm a little bit closer to Florida state than I have been in the past.

[00:42:33] I had my quarterback and little snapper for my first year here in Florida.

[00:42:37] This past year go to that were freshmen at Florida state this past year.

[00:42:42] And it was, you know, my quarterback, his brother is now my quarterback

[00:42:47] and it's pretty cool because we're actually going to Ireland.

[00:42:51] The first game of the season then we're playing.

[00:42:53] I'm so jealous.

[00:42:54] Oh, I'm so jealous.

[00:42:56] We're going to Ireland and it's just so happy.

[00:42:58] So Florida state and Georgia Tech play the college kickoff classic

[00:43:02] basically in Ireland and where the feature, one of the feature games

[00:43:06] the day before on that Friday.

[00:43:09] And, you know, we get to have the banquet and then get to enjoy the Florida state game.

[00:43:13] So my quarterback from not this last year, my first year in Florida, 2022

[00:43:19] he's at Florida state now and the kid can play.

[00:43:22] He can play.

[00:43:24] Now his little brother was my quarterback this year as a junior.

[00:43:28] Now he's on a traditional quarterback.

[00:43:30] Nobody thought he loved receiver.

[00:43:32] He didn't think he wanted to be a QB because he didn't want to walk his brother's footsteps.

[00:43:36] And I know how that is.

[00:43:38] But man, he first year he threw for first year's QBA quarterback his junior year.

[00:43:43] He threw for 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns and he run for a thousand yards

[00:43:49] and another 13 touchdown.

[00:43:51] So it's going to be pretty exciting to have that little combo on a Friday

[00:43:54] and Saturday game kind of showcasing and representing our school.

[00:43:58] So I've kind of gotten closer to Florida state and you know, you root for when you have players that you coach,

[00:44:03] you know, playing for the team.

[00:44:05] So it's that kind of got me into the ACC and what's going on into that.

[00:44:13] And, you know, I honestly don't know what like you said, I don't know if North Carolina and Florida state is going to split where that leaves Clemson.

[00:44:21] And it's interesting to see, but I hate to see that the old school football is no longer.

[00:44:27] It's just kind of like, oh man, it was so good for so long, you know, but everything changes.

[00:44:32] And I'm not saying it's going to be a bad change, but it's just, you know, you can't be skeptical is kind of normal about that.

[00:44:39] So I don't know.

[00:44:41] I love seeing Texas and Oklahoma and SEC because you take those two juggernauts

[00:44:46] and you pull with these other juggernauts and how LSU and Alabama and Georgia and, you know, all these teams on battle out.

[00:44:53] Hopefully Florida will get back to the status that they were at one time.

[00:44:57] You know, being in Florida now, you get to see that battle of Florida state fans and Florida fans.

[00:45:03] Oh, well, every state's crazy.

[00:45:05] And it's just not Alabama.

[00:45:06] It's like every state's crazy.

[00:45:08] So it's pretty cool because I've coached so many different states now.

[00:45:13] I mean, it's been Alabama, Hawaii and Kansas, Arizona, Colorado and now Florida.

[00:45:18] So I get to see the how the landscape of athletics from every single, especially football from every single state stands.

[00:45:27] And I could probably without a doubt, I can say that the Florida and Alabama fan base are definitely the most passionate that the state.

[00:45:37] I did.

[00:45:42] You mentioned real quick, you know, Alabama and of course, you know, Oklahoma, Texas.

[00:45:49] I think Oklahoma, Texas will be fine.

[00:45:51] Yeah.

[00:45:52] Not as much as I don't like Texas.

[00:45:54] I had spies of them.

[00:45:56] Baker Mayfield said it perfect.

[00:45:58] You know, his highest many years.

[00:46:00] I don't like him.

[00:46:01] I don't want nothing to do with them.

[00:46:02] And it's the rest of history.

[00:46:04] So but I but rivalry aside, I think Texas would be fine.

[00:46:09] I think Oklahoma is going to be fine.

[00:46:11] Fine.

[00:46:13] They always say, you know, I'm sure I don't think you get much Texas.

[00:46:17] Oh, you stuff down there.

[00:46:18] But, you know, Texas, they claim the fame as they there's tip above us with it comes to being SEC ready.

[00:46:25] However, you know, we did be them last year and even though they won the big 12, they did pay the rest pretty well.

[00:46:33] They did pay the rest pretty good, pretty good money for the OSU game because, you know, there's a lot of passing appearance calls in the end zone.

[00:46:42] Big 12 that didn't take place.

[00:46:44] So, you know, it's okay.

[00:46:46] That's fine.

[00:46:47] But anyway jokes aside, prime time real quick and then we'll get to your journey from Colorado to Tallahassee prime time in Colorado.

[00:46:57] You know, we got the hype and the hype kind of fizzled.

[00:47:01] Is he going to be able to take that program to where they want it or we're going to just be all hype and I like prime time.

[00:47:09] Don't get me wrong.

[00:47:10] I really do.

[00:47:11] I didn't hear much from growing up as a player just because it was Dallas.

[00:47:16] But you know, phenomenal guy, but it's, you know, Shadeer is a phenomenal quarterback and Travis Hunter is phenomenal receiver and they got some talent on that team.

[00:47:27] But you know, just like the Broncos, the old line was rough.

[00:47:31] Is he going to be able to get this team back to where they were in the early 90s with Cordell Stewart or now with them going to the big 12 that's pretty much wide open.

[00:47:41] Could this be where maybe that was the best move for Colorado?

[00:47:45] It is.

[00:47:46] I think if they were going to succeed, this is kind of the best formula that that's going to happen to succeed.

[00:47:51] I mean, if I think honestly, and of course this is just my opinion.

[00:47:56] I think if they were stuck in the conference from SEC or Big 10 or, you know, I think there are three to four win team.

[00:48:04] Honestly, I just do going to the big 12 after losing Oklahoma in Texas.

[00:48:09] It seems fitting that they'll have more success.

[00:48:14] I actually loved Dion as a player, you know, and I thought the whole showboatness and coolness as a player of me growing up and me younger was was was.

[00:48:25] Was pretty cool.

[00:48:26] No, I was taught not to like it, but there was still something about it that I admired and just man, it was sexy.

[00:48:34] You know what I mean?

[00:48:36] And then, you know, look, he's better than me.

[00:48:40] He no doubt he's way better than me, but I don't like that style of a coach.

[00:48:46] I'm just like, Hey, man, just be humble.

[00:48:50] You know, just that's that's just me.

[00:48:54] And I'm not in the minority on this minority on this, but I'm like, man, just because he is he's brilliant guy.

[00:49:03] I mean, he the way he can market his team you saw was absolutely phenomenal.

[00:49:08] It was it was phenomenal.

[00:49:11] But I'm also in the boat, which might be the minority boat where I don't think you can take a bunch of mercenaries and set there and sustain success and be successful as you could with with a team that loves each other and has played with each other for two or three years and has built something from the ground up.

[00:49:35] You know, and I just and that goes because I'm so against that whole NIL and transfer pool thing.

[00:49:42] Amen.

[00:49:43] You know that I think that's why I lie within that the way I think on that now there'll be people people come in and say you're wrong.

[00:49:50] You're wrong.

[00:49:51] And I may be I mean I'm not in the college game and I'm glad I'm not in the college game and I would never see my kids.

[00:49:56] I would never see my wife.

[00:49:59] You know, but so I don't know that nuts and the bolts and the ends and the ounce of it.

[00:50:03] But I look at them and and I hate to say this if anybody here in Tallahassee is watching this is going to be bad for me.

[00:50:12] But I think that's what happened to Florida State.

[00:50:14] You know, we're just working in that final game and you know they had a bunch of I say this not knowing that I know they're not paid mercenaries.

[00:50:22] But that's what you get.

[00:50:23] And you know when you're getting this guy from this school and this guy from this school and this guy from this school that those people are just wanting their name.

[00:50:30] They're there wanting to do their thing and they want their time.

[00:50:33] And I just think that you can build something better if you are getting people who has been a part of the process for more than just a spring training in a season.

[00:50:47] And I think you're going to see flashiness and I think you're going to see greatness and I think you're going to see some some studs out there for Colorado.

[00:50:55] But when it comes down to it when they're playing that game, I think that's when they're going to fall short when they're playing that game where it really matters.

[00:51:02] And you dig down into the fortitude and what's in your gut and the people are on the line on fourth down or whatever and they're looking to the people beside them and they haven't been working with them for two or three years.

[00:51:15] And you know so they don't have that trust and confidence in that guy.

[00:51:18] They're just very in it for themselves and that's not everybody and I know that's not everybody and I know you form a bond even if you're there for a year but I just don't think it's the same.

[00:51:28] You see Georgia in that ballgame against Florida State and you know those players wanted to play and they wanted to play for each other and that's it.

[00:51:39] And I understand the hurt that Florida State had. I understand it. I really do.

[00:51:44] But still if you had that love for each other you'd go play that game for each other instead of opting out and I think that's kind of where we are in the landscape of college football right now.

[00:51:56] And you know what I could be proving wrong but Michigan they show that I'm not a Michigan fan Mike. I'm not. I'm not. I'm not.

[00:52:05] That's what I hate to block him. Every school I've had it is crazy so many schools I've been to they either begin with the in the end with the in with the mat.

[00:52:15] They they they're always blue one was blue and maze just like like Michigan and most of them has had that block him and I've always changed that block him from whatever school I went to.

[00:52:27] I'm not having that block in on the helmet. I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it. But man just see the model that they had those guys love playing for each other.

[00:52:36] You know you got Corum McCarthy and all these kids that just play with each other for two or three years man.

[00:52:41] And this that may I think that means more than when you had some hired guns from the NIL that comes in and just trying to get that money and want to go to that next level one and more about themselves and they are about the program itself.

[00:52:56] And I think that's where we are unfortunately at the end of college game now.

[00:53:00] No, I think so. And I'm 100% with you on that and you know I got a good buddy of mine. D'Artagnan Tinsley starter on the old line for Cincinnati and and you know he he I appreciate him let me be open about that because you know the NIL in my opinion is absolutely

[00:53:25] really killing these programs that can't probably had no chance of getting four or five stars anyway.

[00:53:32] The Buffalo's the practically the whole Mac and and you know others as well but now you throwing money and you know I watched the video of Kevin Wilson head coach of Tulsa and you know he practically somebody was telling

[00:53:47] you had a four star five star somebody like that and the transfer portal and how the conversation going practically Kevin Wilson took you know read it read the conversation on the phone or on the

[00:53:58] you know read the text messages to the reporters and he practically said you know and layman's terms you know summarize they were all up is the athlete reached out to my mind sure who it was.

[00:54:10] Athlete reached out to him. Hey coach this is blah blah blah. You know I got two dogs and a girlfriend and that's now that is true here. No that was funny. Two dogs and a girl from what should I do you know what money looks like he said well first of all

[00:54:24] two girls.

[00:54:25] Get rid of your two dogs. I'm not going to tell you what to do with the girl but when you get here to visit we'll go over your the academic plan that they got in place and I mean long story the point of the story is not everybody has the millions like the Alabama's

[00:54:39] and the Georgia's and the Oklahoma's in the Texas and and the list goes on your your premier programs and Florida State being one of them as well compared to you know Iowa and Indiana and Miami

[00:54:54] and Miami for Ohio's and all of them so I don't know the transfer portal for me I think is a bunch of crock.

[00:55:04] Just like society is soft while I'm not starting here I need to go here while I'm not starting here now I gotta go here and agree you know you got a quarterback that's been a league nine years and so I mean it's just ridiculous but

[00:55:18] it's spilling into the high school level as well and I don't know how it is in Oklahoma.

[00:55:24] Yeah that's I ain't going to say that high schools come really close to one and and I'm getting my feet wet and the others I ain't going to ruin any of that but those two programs and they're very dominant programs.

[00:55:37] I can tell you off air but they are definitely the NIL is definitely playing a role there.

[00:55:45] I know Georgia already an I'd deal dealing in Florida they're talking about it but it is just like the Wild Wild West here where you can play football at one school transfer play basketball at another school transfer play baseball at another school

[00:56:00] and in the next school year you can start all over and do the same thing and I'm like how I don't I don't understand that so I think everything's a trickle down from the NFL to now the college and then the college is deep into it now and getting

[00:56:13] the money and NIL getting the transfer portal and you know it's now it's going into the high school level.

[00:56:23] We're playing a team next year who is a state champions in Georgia last year and I saw one play the year before and I'm like we can play with them and that's that's a good that's a good match up for us and good team great school

[00:56:36] and this past year they won the state championship and I'm asking some other guys in Georgia like man they're working that NIL deal and I'm like what yeah they're getting kids from this high school this high school that might be the second string or

[00:56:48] or something like that but in a smaller private school they're the deal.

[00:56:52] That's where they're at now and man this you know we played well just an example I mean it's I had five players come up to me you know this all season already in the past several weeks and said hey coach I got this school where you got these teams are

[00:57:09] DMing me and want me to come over there and say they got scholarship money for me they got they got this and they got that and and you know I have one kid tell me it's like yeah the coach actually takes my dad and he

[00:57:21] want me to come over and I'm like of course I mean that's a violation I mean it is.

[00:57:26] Oh yeah.

[00:57:27] That's a clear violation but but you know I might look if you think you'll be happier somewhere else man I'm not wanting to I'm not wanting to accept in front of your happiness.

[00:57:36] But you know we're a school we don't use the voucher system they have the voucher system here in Florida where you can get a lot of money for private schools and that helps the private schools here are private we're an independent

[00:57:48] school and we want to keep our independence so we don't use the voucher system we turned it down.

[00:57:54] And you know we're 1617 grand year go to so it's it's a nice little penny to go to so we don't we don't get transfers very seldom do we get transfers and but saying that we don't get people transfer out to because they love the

[00:58:11] education they get at our school right but but we do we play those teams in our district there's two teams one of them is arrival like two miles down the street of us and you know they had Leon Washington

[00:58:23] Jr. whose dad was the best one of the best best returners in the NFL with a jet and now coaching for the jets and now he just signed with FIU we got Terry on Arnold's little brother playing middle linebacker at that school who's an absolute stud

[00:58:37] and you got to start receiver for West Virginia out there playing at receiver and you know it's like man they got some athletes out there.

[00:58:46] They got the same amount of kids that we got in the school but these kids can play but so it is it's hard to contend with but you know what man you know it's like I said it's just a trickle down from NFL to college and now in high school.

[00:59:02] Oh it's going to continue. I know just kind of go off the comment you made about the may get upset with you. Tell us the Florida is actually ranked sixth where I'm being listened to the top six and like butler is the as a big area

[00:59:25] well the cities are pretty phenomenal. Miami is in top four. Hollywood and Jacksonville Orlando, Florida, Tallahassee so there you go. You got some listeners down there.

[00:59:38] Like butler though is the biggest geographic location according to Spotify that listens to the podcast. I don't know where like butler is never heard of him maybe you do I don't know but there you go.

[00:59:52] Like butler leads the Florida range. You know I heard of it. I can't pinpoint it you know we played in Miami is the name that people are like oh Miami you know even me I scheduled a game this past year somebody canceled on me and flipping March or April it was April so it was like a late get and I had a you know I scheduled a team called Trudon North Academy out of Miami and they could play.

[01:00:20] I mean they're a newer school but they could play. They had a freshman QB who has you know offers from three or four SEC schools they had a sophomore receiver same deal and they could maybe my parents were not happy that I was playing this game.

[01:00:37] They were not happy and like man just let it right out. Let me be you know just I'm telling you your kids can handle it there and they're okay with their better than us yeah they're better than us they own paper they are way better than us but your kids are pretty good and I tell you we did phenomenal against them.

[01:00:55] We was in the red zone six or seven times you know I only scored three or four of them but you know they beat us but you know it helped us through throughout the year. But Florida in itself man you can go we're 1A school 1A school.

[01:01:13] We just switched classifications again we did something different because Miami was winning everything and a lot of people didn't want to play Miami school so they went from Metro to suburban to rural school so you go to 1A4 Metro 1A4 suburban and 1A4 rural.

[01:01:28] It was a suburban being in Tallahassee and that includes Pizzicola, a little bit of Jacksonville, a little bit of Tampa. But the Metro's you got your Orlando's you got some of the Tampa and Jacksonville but definitely Miami and the areas around there.

[01:01:42] And those were known as the bigger schools.

[01:01:45] But man now we just switched back to the areas and so we're 1A and we go up all the way to 670.

[01:01:53] And but man you can be in 1A and you're playing a team and you're going to have four SEC commits on that team.

[01:02:02] I mean we played you know we was playing Monroe we had an Oklahoma commit this new was legit he was I mean absolutely.

[01:02:11] Do you remember his name by chance?

[01:02:12] Oh Amari what was Amari's name? I'm trying to remember Amari's last name he played from Monroe here.

[01:02:19] But he was a DB and receiver well he was a better DB he could play anything but as a DB he was a stud I mean he was an absolute.

[01:02:29] I'll have to get back with you after this to tell you Amari's last name.

[01:02:33] He how it pounded out how it panned out but no man is I mean the talent here in Florida.

[01:02:40] And in most places in the south you go to Georgia as well and Alabama as well my brothers and head coach of a 7A school over there.

[01:02:49] And man it's just it is insane just so much talent now I love in Colorado has some good players I did I had some really really good players and we were one of the better schools.

[01:03:05] But you take that school there was a foray and you put it in a 1A and it's a battle.

[01:03:12] I mean it is an absolute battle because you're going to see the same competition you'll see the same talent you'll see the same skill level with that 1A that you did in the foray in Colorado.

[01:03:23] It's just I can't understand I can't explain it I don't know it's just to me it's a it's a southern thing versus versus anything else.

[01:03:32] And but but no it's it's crazy how things panned out when you have the bigger schools and like Shaman Amadana.

[01:03:46] I don't know if you ever heard Shaman Amadana they're one of the top ranked schools in the nation.

[01:03:50] I don't know how they're 1A but they're 1A.

[01:03:53] They're 1A and you know they're just going to they're going to win 1A every single year that I want to state championship.

[01:03:59] You know that's just the way it is.

[01:04:04] You know we play some team this year and I'm walking out of the press box after the game it's like 20 minutes after the game and I see these two young men and a good looking young man you look at them and they're both like 6'1", 6'2", over 200 pounds and you can just see the muscles like rip it out of their shirt.

[01:04:23] And I'm like and it looked like they had just played a game though because one of them had it was in a sling and I'm like did y'all we all part of this team and they're like oh no and I know we're Florida State we just over here watching and I'm like where'd y'all go to high school.

[01:04:35] And they were like oh we both with Shaman Amadana and they were freshmen in college.

[01:04:39] I'm like Jesus.

[01:04:41] Y'all are 1A kids man.

[01:04:44] How are y'all competing against all these other kids but yeah so it's the talent in Florida in all around.

[01:04:51] I mean you got Orlando, Miami, you got the Fort Lauderdale area, the Tampa area we played a few games in Tampa this year.

[01:04:58] And you go all the way west when you go to Pensacola you got Pensacola Catholic and Tate and Pace over there who's kind of ranting things.

[01:05:07] I mean it's just all over the state there is just immense talent it's ridiculous.

[01:05:14] No the Florida I mean it's just Jamarri and Burt.

[01:05:18] I wonder how I can do this without like this.

[01:05:23] No you're good you can definitely check afterwards I'm just kind of curious.

[01:05:27] I'll know what.

[01:05:29] And I tell you this thing I'm still frozen on this one page from before on my computer it won't even let me turn my computer off.

[01:05:36] It's like no no you go look at the frozen face if you would mic for like two days.

[01:05:41] But no it's somebody I want to say Robinson but it wasn't Robinson but it was Amari was his name and he was.

[01:05:55] Man he put one of our best players out by early in the first quarter.

[01:06:01] I mean just it was he got flagged for it but it was probably a clean hit.

[01:06:07] It just looked nasty you know what I mean one of those kind of crying bags on the interception or whatnot.

[01:06:13] But it was actually it was a crossing route and he was coming over and the same dude's chasing but.

[01:06:21] But no I'll get I'll get with you on that name but every single week that's what you're facing.

[01:06:27] You're facing someone who's signed or committed to the SEC the ACC the big 10 the big 12 and you know and and we compete with all those schools.

[01:06:37] And we don't have you know those guys that are committed to this.

[01:06:42] So it's I was lucky not to have a really really good staff this year to help me with that so.

[01:06:48] Well and that and that helps and that takes you know that is tremendous helping itself just because you know that's being a forward I can only imagine you know the intensity of football as it is and and you know leading to the final segment is that.

[01:07:03] And so three years ago coach Colorado Springs and Vista Ridge High School.

[01:07:12] Now you're in Tallahassee Florida so lead us through.

[01:07:18] So how in the world did you get up to the Rocky Mountains and have a sunshine state.

[01:07:23] It was it was a journey.

[01:07:24] It was a journey.

[01:07:26] That year that I was going into the next year of this region a lot of stuff had happened and I'm not one mentioned any names or going to deep detail.

[01:07:36] I know it was after church one Sunday that I do I had to leave this to reach and it was it was professional reasons and a lot of stuff that was going on at the school I was at.

[01:07:48] And if you look at you can you can go online and look into Vista Ridge administration and stuff like that and kind of see what happened and I saw the right on the wall.

[01:07:59] And I knew I needed to get out of there and I didn't want to get out of there.

[01:08:02] I did not want to get out of there but I knew some stuff that was going on and I didn't want to be tired it won't that put on my name and you know so it was a situation where I resigned and I didn't know where I was going to go.

[01:08:14] I had an offer on the West Coast of Florida.

[01:08:17] My wife said we're not moving to Florida this year because I don't want to pay property gains tax on our house because we hadn't had it for two years.

[01:08:24] So we're going to be here for another year and I took a job at a school that I knew it was a priority improvement school they had won a game in two or three years.

[01:08:34] It was something I was like all right well I need a job and they're all for me this are going to let me teach and let me do this and and it was rough.

[01:08:41] It was absolutely rough.

[01:08:44] I was the office coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator.

[01:08:48] I had one assistant coach.

[01:08:50] I got one later on in the season and it was pretty hard.

[01:08:54] It was you know he was coaching 17 players different players every single day of practice.

[01:08:59] You would have some show up and the next day would be a different group of kids show up for practice.

[01:09:03] What?

[01:09:04] I had forfeited two or three games because I had more than 17 kids with two or more F's.

[01:09:13] And you know they you know I was being persuaded by other people don't do this you don't need to do this we can fix it we can do this.

[01:09:22] And I said no we're not fixing it that's what's happened to the school that's why we're a priority improvement schools because people have always shoved this under the bus you know what I mean.

[01:09:29] And so we did we sorry I just but I just dropped the phone but it was it was hard and then a few jobs came open.

[01:09:40] It was one in Tennessee and it was one in Florida and man when I looked I want to get back down south and my whole family is a mobile in Alabama and I wanted to get back down south.

[01:09:50] And when I took the what I looked at the school of McClay I was like man that's a beautiful beautiful school and then I did research on the lower school in the middle school which my two kids will be a part of.

[01:10:01] Right.

[01:10:02] And it was kind of a no brainer for me to go after it and they liked me I like them and you know they I'm a teacher I'm a world history to honors world history honors US history.

[01:10:14] Assistant athletic director and a head football coach over there and and I've been in my clay school for this going on three years now been there for two years going on three years and you know it's the first year we came over there and.

[01:10:28] You know it was it was a it's different you know it was you know going to that private school and just trying to teach the passion of football because they played football.

[01:10:41] There was a lot of kids that played football but it really what you know they played football because it was in the fall it wasn't playing football because I want to go play football at the next level.

[01:10:50] It was like this is football season someone play football but we man we have some talent I mean I had a receiver that was 6600 pounds and just really be stopped.

[01:11:00] His name's Caleb then Caleb man I love me some Caleb but you know he had people want to talk to him for college he didn't want to go play football for college he wanted to go to art school so he's at Skaggs over there and.

[01:11:11] Oh yeah so he's he's doing great in art school just amazed but that's that's the type of athlete that we had I went from not having to having 17 kids with two F's to having a 3.8 GP G P A team average.

[01:11:28] You know so the athletically there was some things that we couldn't do that we did at Vista Ridge but there was so much more that I could do as far as in the air raid offense and finding space and actually these guys learning how to play the game and a different type of way you know is.

[01:11:51] I don't have to be the fastest I don't have to be the strongest I don't have to be the biggest I need to be the smartest and we excelled you know the first year we made the first round lost in the first round and.

[01:12:03] You know we went I think was 46 after regular season you know like you be through at 3000 yards he was a third leading passer in the state of Florida.

[01:12:12] But he ended up at Florida State and this past year we got a little bit better we lost you know 14 seniors so I knew it was going to be rough knew the beginning of the season was going to be.

[01:12:26] I say rough but I knew it was going to be such a learning experience and I was excited about it though because we had.

[01:12:32] Probably three return of starters on offense we lost our best receiver due to how many play quarterback or other best receiver towards ACL and spring training and was out for the season so that lasted with three return of starters by on offense three return of starters on defense very very young so I knew the beginning of the season was going to be a learning process and we were playing good football but was it playing winning football.

[01:12:58] We made good plays we just wasn't playing great football and I knew it would change and then we played that team from Miami and a lot of people didn't want to play him.

[01:13:07] We played him we did well and it boosted the team's confidence and we played the best team that we could play and that got us ready for our district play.

[01:13:15] We ended up season 500 went playoffs like I said earlier the quarterback first year playing quarterback through for 2500 yards 22 touchdowns 1000 yards rushing 13 touchdowns on the home but we had.

[01:13:29] A receiver starting to X that was a freshman a receiver starting at Z that was a freshman in our why in our you know two new coming receivers at age and why that were juniors.

[01:13:42] Shoot our junior receiver may as 5 1045 pounds but he had 900 yards in eight games.

[01:13:51] It just ridiculous I mean the kid he just don't get tackled his first person against him just not get tackled but we saw major strides we lose we bring all 11 back on offense.

[01:14:02] You know 10 maybe and then you know we bring you know nine out of our 11 back on defense for this coming up year so it's looking it's looking great.

[01:14:13] Being back closer to home was key for me my dad's not in good shape at all.

[01:14:19] I got my mom was also aging in Alabama as well but it's just and just this past it just since 2024 I think I've been the mobile three or four times just one you know Christmas New Year's I went and go watch the Alabama Michigan game when my dad didn't turn out the way we wanted.

[01:14:42] But you know and then we went back a few more times went to senior bowl a couple weeks ago with my son and my brother and his team at Davidson and and so it's really nice being closer back home and being back in a state where they put football on another level.

[01:15:01] You know and that's that's one of the main differences there Colorado we we have some great players at Bista Ridge but it was never that feeling that it mattered the way it does in Florida right.

[01:15:14] You know there's I got some friends that still coach over there and in Colorado that's like man y'all come over to Florida.

[01:15:25] Florida needs y'all you know you look at Jake Nebotney at Fountainport Carson you look at Jeremy Caleb over there at Mesa Ridge and what they're doing and I'm like man I wish you guys were over here because we've got so many good coaches leaving the state of Florida for places like Georgia and Alabama because of the pay difference.

[01:15:42] Florida is not known for their pay scale for coaches Georgia and Alabama.

[01:15:48] There's they're up there.

[01:15:49] I mean there's skyrocketed.

[01:15:51] I don't think you can say it compares with Texas but it's getting there.

[01:15:55] I'm sure right.

[01:15:57] But but no man it's it is a big difference like I've been I said earlier and I really think that 2020 team at Bista Ridge even though we're really young were so talented that you know even you do.

[01:16:11] You take that team over there and you face our team at McClay.

[01:16:15] That's a 1A team.

[01:16:17] That's a game and that's a 4A versus a 1A team when the top 4A teams versus and I think we're more than mediocre but we would think someone is a 500 team.

[01:16:28] That's what you would call them.

[01:16:30] But I would I would take our chances.

[01:16:33] You know and that's just the difference in my opinion of Florida and Colorado where it's at right now.

[01:16:37] Next question.

[01:16:39] Do you miss mountains?

[01:16:41] I do for the hiking aspect.

[01:16:44] You know especially during COVID when everybody was locked up.

[01:16:49] You know my wife was one of the early ones like I don't care.

[01:16:54] I want to do what I want to do.

[01:16:56] She's like let's go hiking.

[01:16:59] But so that's how we kind of spent our time and I was a big garden to God's God.

[01:17:02] You know anyway and if you've never been at the Garden of Gods in Colorado Springs or Manitou where in that area man you need to go is that one of the most absolutely most beautiful God created sites that you can find.

[01:17:19] I remember when I was stationed there in 2003 through six or seven that I used to always go run them 46 years old.

[01:17:27] I can't run as much as I used to but I still like to gradually walk which would be called hiking.

[01:17:33] Yep.

[01:17:35] So man I miss that.

[01:17:40] I'm a big beer connoisseur.

[01:17:42] So the breweries and the brews over in Colorado the micro brews were it is kind of unmatched and everywhere is getting where they're good at it.

[01:17:54] But in Colorado it's that that's still special.

[01:17:58] I don't miss the cold.

[01:18:01] I don't I don't miss the cold.

[01:18:04] I don't miss the snow.

[01:18:05] I don't know if you buddies there I have this the mountains.

[01:18:11] I mean it's you miss just going out there and looking when the sun rising or the sunset and just looking out there.

[01:18:19] You're not going to get that in Florida.

[01:18:21] You're not but what you do get in Florida is you get the beach sunrise and you get the beach sunset and to me you can't beat that.

[01:18:29] So it's I could imagine.

[01:18:32] I never been to Florida but I can only imagine though.

[01:18:35] You know in every every place is different.

[01:18:38] You know Tallahassee reminds me so much of Mobile when you come in you have the canopy roads with the oak trees just covering the roads and stuff like that.

[01:18:45] It's absolutely beautiful.

[01:18:47] And there's so many fishing holes here like freshwater fishing in Tallahassee is amazing.

[01:18:52] And then you got so many of our kids that have places that alligator point where you go straight into the Gulf of Mexico.

[01:18:59] And I had my first offshore fishing experience this past like right after Thanksgiving.

[01:19:04] And man I caught the biggest red snapper that you could actually just imagine and I ain't know my son was out there with me called a mangrove snapper and some lame snappers.

[01:19:13] And it was it was absolutely amazing because we didn't start at fishing my son and I in Colorado and there's not a lot of spots or some and I didn't know all of them.

[01:19:22] But you didn't have a boat.

[01:19:25] You was you know suspect of lakes and tiny ponds and stuff like that.

[01:19:29] And but you get here when you go off shore is just man it just wants you to go back and you come home like baby we need a boat.

[01:19:40] You're not getting a boat.

[01:19:42] My happiness depends on it.

[01:19:45] But it needs to say Mike I didn't get a boat.

[01:19:54] But in the near future just not going to happen.

[01:19:58] She wants one as well.

[01:20:00] There was another couple that took us out and just being out of she's a water person as well.

[01:20:06] My wife I can't remember if I told you when we were taught before she's a she's a chef and she's like a she's a five star chef.

[01:20:13] And she's a culinary director of the biggest hospitality firm here in Tallahassee.

[01:20:18] She actually won the battle of chefs in Tallahassee this past year which was so cool seeing her compete on stage and talking to her process and doing all that.

[01:20:29] But you know eventually she says she wants to open up her own culinary studio on the beach somewhere and I don't know when that's going to be or how it's going to be.

[01:20:37] But that's where she wants to be.

[01:20:39] And if you know if the wife wants that that's what she's probably going to get.

[01:20:43] And you know but that also requires me having a job as well.

[01:20:49] So I gotta wait for you know see what God has in plan for that.

[01:20:55] Well no one thing when I was getting ready just scrolling through Twitter earlier.

[01:21:01] I love your guys.

[01:21:02] I love your schemes.

[01:21:04] That is that is nice.

[01:21:07] So I tried my best to mimic North Carolina because I love North Carolina.

[01:21:14] Oh yes I really do and I try my best to keep it as clean as possible to not when we got new uniforms this past year.

[01:21:21] And man I'm going to go ahead and plug this this this company because they've been so good to me.

[01:21:27] They're called Future Ones and it's this uniform company.

[01:21:30] And they're based out of Mobile, Alabama.

[01:21:34] So I try to keep things local.

[01:21:36] I'm going to go back home when I can to support those people back home and they did an amazing job of design our uniforms.

[01:21:44] And you know we got as close of my opinion to North Carolina as you can get.

[01:21:49] You know we have the baby blue helmets the powder blue sky blue North Carolina whatever you want to call it but you know we try to keep it as true to form as possible.

[01:21:58] And man but the color scheme with that navy and baby or powder blue and the white you can get so creative with it man.

[01:22:07] It just it looked like every combination that we had we had three you know the baby on baby and a navy on navy and the vinyl white but any combination that we made within that just was amazing.

[01:22:19] And it's just it's pretty cool.

[01:22:21] You know it should be something that you're like I think that you probably shouldn't be into but it matters to me.

[01:22:26] You know it does.

[01:22:28] You feel good you play good and we definitely felt good we played you know I thought we played well and we got better throughout the year and it's exciting to see what this new I mean I'm selling it.

[01:22:39] We want to have 11 returnist starters on offense coming back from a team that kind of lit up the scoreboard this past year so it's going to be exciting to see what we do especially in Ireland that's going to be the game.

[01:22:51] I want to be honest with you Coach.

[01:22:53] I'm just I got to find a way to sneak into your luggage bag somehow some way just just when they when they weigh it.

[01:23:02] Excuse me just tell me just ignore just ignore that and push me down the thing.

[01:23:09] Well look if there's any other coaches listening and I know the team there's a team from Mexico that wants to go to Ireland and play they're just looking for an opponent and if you need information on if you're interested and and I ain't going to lie that the price is going to be a little bit more than that.

[01:23:23] I mean this tag is up there.

[01:23:25] But it's it's an experience that your kids will never forget and it's man is for us as a school we're like why would we do this and why wouldn't we do this because this is a marketing tool for our school.

[01:23:41] You get it McClay you know these these kids are spending 1617 thousand dollars a year to go to the school so you want to give them this kind of experience that really really is going to stay with them for the rest of their life and it will.

[01:23:52] You know I was great to meet up with a guy named Patrick Sternberg.

[01:23:57] He's an old quarterback for Notre Dame.

[01:23:59] He's the founder and president of global travel and he contacted me and another guy through him contacted me and I took this to my head of school and the head of school was very supportive and the marketing team was very supportive.

[01:24:12] We had a lot of donors was like heck yeah let's let's go let's go market our school at an international level and you know that's what you get out of it.

[01:24:19] You want to get a lot of interest you want to get people that's probably would want to go to your school because this type of stuff like they get to have these experiences.

[01:24:29] This is what I want to experience and that's what I kind of wanted to do man I want to spread our brand across not only just Florida but wherever we can spread our brand.

[01:24:37] That's what I want to do and we get to do that and the beautiful country of Ireland and sit in Dublin you know Florida State plays in a Viva Stadium the night before we play and man I'm where we're pretty excited.

[01:24:49] I'm excited about that.

[01:24:51] Well I'll be rooting you guys on of course you know David Wilson coming on later in the month and he's the offensive coordinator for Oak Leaf Oak leaf.

[01:25:04] There we go high school football down in Oak Leaf Plantation Florida.

[01:25:09] Yep.

[01:25:10] And so I know he's coming on and I got a few other coaches that will be coming on throughout the throughout the month and and into March but you know I'm sure that they'll definitely be listening if that's obviously not I'm sure they'll definitely try to make that as possible as well but now you you got you.

[01:25:33] You've always got my support and and I've been rooting you guys on this year.

[01:25:37] Well I really appreciate it man.

[01:25:39] It's always really cool talking to you and and you know like I said it's been a long time since I spoke with you on this kind of capacity or anything but I think you're doing one heck of a job and I love what you do and just spreading the love of football around man that's that's what it's all about.

[01:25:56] Hey that's I try you know like I said pre show whatever it was that you know who knows what the good Lord's taking this thing he may not take it anywhere just a little thing to meet new people and make connections for friendships and meet in person and that's all but hey to me friendship and

[01:26:15] and communities is you can't beat that the other day so I'll you know I know I'm not going to school for this but you know he he also knows what he's going to do with this so and anyway I can get my hands on one of those polos from a clay I'd be glad to buy one off of you.

[01:26:36] You ain't got to buy it just send me your address buddy.

[01:26:38] We'll do my man anyway as we wrap up the show let the listeners and coaches out there because I go.

[01:26:46] I got a humongous following yesterday of coaches so I know they're watching now but and listening where can they find you out on the socials and as we wrap up the show.

[01:26:57] Oh man I think it's like coach Jay Colley is where I'm at on Twitter.

[01:27:02] I don't only thing on Instagram I use is people send me funny reels you know I don't really know how to use Instagram as well I think it's like 1620 or something like that but that's because my favorite lead singer is Chino from the death tongs and

[01:27:16] and you know that's that's that's Chino that's been my thing forever there but I use Twitter a lot for connecting and networking and I'm of course linked in but the Twitter is my main my main feed for networking with other coaches and I would love to connect with anybody.

[01:27:32] I'm always trying to learn you know there's every I know this year I'm trying to learn different you know how to incorporate shifts and stuff like that it's my offense and you know so this anybody that can help me out with that come follow me please

[01:27:47] request and I would love to catch your ear and learn some things.

[01:27:51] I got a good friend of mine here locally and state champion and believe over at and Jones and phenomenal phenomenal coach his name is coach Tom George and and he runs QB impact and he has for more NFL players are current and former coaches and so on and so forth.

[01:28:12] Go down to Texas for literally a big old I guess training session if you want to call up that but it's amazing what he does but phenomenal dude I'm gonna what I'll do is tag him on a tweet to you and have you guys commute this dude's a real deal I speak highly of him he's a phenomenal guy and his insight I know will will definitely help you out as well in the way because

[01:28:39] I appreciate it. Hey I'm a student I mean I coach my coaches and my players but I'm a student as well so whatever I can learn is only when I help my kids.

[01:28:50] You get and coach the blocky my good buddy from Wisconsin I'll tag him as with it please please no you got your I'll definitely send him but now I enjoy it coach coach you're always welcome to shoot me a text DM DM whatever and
