[00:00:05] What's the most exciting and most watch sport in the United States?
[00:00:10] If you said anything else, put football.
[00:00:13] You lose.
[00:00:19] Welcome to the Air Raid Attack Podcast!
[00:00:23] Nothing's more exciting than college or pro football.
[00:00:26] And when we say football, we don't mean soccer.
[00:00:36] Oh, no.
[00:00:39] Will hang. We'll give you in-depth analysis.
[00:00:42] And you know what?
[00:00:43] Football and life have a lot in common.
[00:00:46] So you'll hear us tackle life topics sometimes too.
[00:00:49] Right! Right! So let's do it.
[00:00:51] This is the Air Raid Attack Podcast.
[00:00:55] Here we go. Here we go.
[00:00:56] And this is your host, Air Raid Micah.
[00:01:01] What's up everybody?
[00:01:15] Your host, Air Raid Micah.
[00:01:19] The Unstricted 100% authentic podcast.
[00:01:24] And we have a fun one ready to go.
[00:01:27] It's never truly, you know, a complex, some college football.
[00:01:31] Especially when you're in Oklahoma.
[00:01:33] I'm sure it's across the globe as well.
[00:01:36] But Spring Game literally right around the corner within two weeks, three weeks now.
[00:01:41] From the Spring Game.
[00:01:42] We will see how Oklahoma does.
[00:01:45] But speaking of Oklahoma, I got a fun guest on for two days show.
[00:01:52] His name is Matt Blackwell. He is the writer and recruiting analysis and publisher of The Crimson Captain.
[00:02:00] We're talking all things, Sooners.
[00:02:03] So without further ado, Sooner nation.
[00:02:06] Let me introduce you to today's guest,
[00:02:08] who is the one The Only Mr. Matt Blackwell.
[00:02:12] First of all, appreciate the fall.
[00:02:15] This is kind of how this jump started and appreciate your time coming on the podcast today.
[00:02:19] Hey, my good to be with you.
[00:02:22] I appreciate having me on.
[00:02:24] Thanks for the invite.
[00:02:26] Absolutely looking forward to looking forward to talking some college football.
[00:02:31] I'm primarily of course the Oklahoma Seniors.
[00:02:33] And first things first, till the listeners a little batch of self.
[00:02:38] And as we roll into the show.
[00:02:42] Matt Blackwell and started up the Crimson Captain.
[00:02:46] Feels like a couple of lifetimes ago, but it really got going.
[00:02:50] I would say this time last year is when I started to have more of a social media presence on Twitter or Axel whenever we're calling it these days.
[00:02:59] But that's where I really started to follow the Korean and Oklahoma specifically.
[00:03:09] And and start to put together some pieces of information that that is slowly growing over time.
[00:03:16] It's really just taken off from there.
[00:03:19] You know, as we've gone along, it really got busy during the season, especially here as.
[00:03:29] As I started up the site and in the discord server that we've got now and it's currently on.
[00:03:36] So it's been a quick and wild ride for sure.
[00:03:42] That's also an know it's, you know, it's pretty, you know, obviously.
[00:03:48] I'm sure you got some hecklers and I'm sure on your end, especially with what you do.
[00:03:53] It's probably I'm sure quite interesting, especially when you put some content out there and.
[00:03:58] And I'm sure the feedback is I'm hopefully it's great, but I'm sure you got some pretty entertaining feedback and the last we girls even if you are.
[00:04:11] You know, trying to help the sooner fans out there and you know, we're all part of the same team, but seems like our opinions are definitely.
[00:04:18] Definitely out there differently, but nonetheless.
[00:04:21] I'm sure it's a it's a great time on your inspection when it gets time for football season.
[00:04:26] Yeah, I don't think that I'm unique. I have the response that I've gotten over.
[00:04:31] Really since I started has been 95% positive in the rest of it has just been kind of the ways at that point there's been some some back and forth and ups and downs, but.
[00:04:42] I really wouldn't trade it for for anything.
[00:04:45] It's been an amazing experience and it's something that I never really anticipated was would get to the point that it is.
[00:04:55] I think that the role is the overall interest in being gross and things that we've been able to.
[00:05:01] To experience here, since we've got started but.
[00:05:05] You know, I think the main thing is I just really enjoy the work I enjoyed doing it and if I didn't do that, I've didn't have people who.
[00:05:15] Were willing to be sources for me in my team and.
[00:05:22] And be that kind of a resource for us, then we wouldn't be here if I didn't enjoy it and we didn't have people who who.
[00:05:31] Sacrifice their time and energy to provide this information that we could share with our subscribers than it just wouldn't be possible and and this thing as long as those two things are true.
[00:05:45] As long as we've got people that are interested in the content and it's going to keep going and.
[00:05:49] I feel like we're we're just scratching the surface of what we can accomplish and what we can do what we can build.
[00:05:55] The discord platform in particular, I think has a lot of unlocked potential as far as the things that we can do we've already seen a drastic.
[00:06:08] Adrasting growth as far as engagement with our community here over the last couple of months, especially.
[00:06:15] And we're excited about that and you know it's a good thing about it.
[00:06:20] You football and a.
[00:06:22] I'm asked what I can general is that there's really never a shortage of content or things to talk about and that that's always good for people like us.
[00:06:32] 100% agree and I there's not a dome moment even you know once we get past May of course the women's cause real series down in the Hall of Fame stadium of course once that all that wraps up hopefully another national championship in Norman but.
[00:06:48] Right now you would expect that but we'll see come a but no there's never a dome moment here in Norman and across the nation and he thinks off what's kind of recap last year Oklahoma finishing the football Oklahoma finishing 1033 in the big 12 just on the outside looking into the big 12 championship game only losses in conference was to Kansas and to Oklahoma state.
[00:07:13] And then the bowl lost Arizona in the Alamo bow but as we got a lot of momentum in 23 following I know disappointing from so many you know it's not making to the our final big 12 championship game against the eventual big 12 champion.
[00:07:34] Texas long horns.
[00:07:37] But but you know put that to the side.
[00:07:44] What's what's on your side what's the feel like now as we head into 24 now the SEC's in our our girl SEC schedule daunting one to put it you know layman terms it's not going to be easy one for the 24 students but.
[00:08:00] You know what you're taking on now our momentum even the losing to Elimbo you know we still got some momentum going wonderful recruiting class once again by print vennials and he's coaching staff.
[00:08:12] What's your feel and what is the feel around Norman as we head into this season and pro star SEC inaugural year.
[00:08:22] And I'm sure you've seen this for her this whenever you talk to to you people and you fans.
[00:08:29] I think there's a mixture of of hope and trepidation to some extent because on one hand you know.
[00:08:36] The style strong the schedule is in the SEC and that and that the level of competition is is taking a pretty for my step up you just have to look at the difference between.
[00:08:49] The 24 home schedule versus the 23 home schedule to get a feel for what that's going to be like.
[00:08:55] You're not not to mention the schedule and it's entirely but.
[00:09:00] I owe you fans especially at this time of year I think hope springs eternal no matter what but there there's definitely some some dollar reasons for that.
[00:09:12] From my perspective which is your returning a defense that was an improvement over 2022.
[00:09:22] But yeah but still not up to definitely not up to the standards that print vennials is used to producing.
[00:09:30] And not what center fans I think know what they need to be at in order to compete in the SEC.
[00:09:37] The encouraging thing is that the people that the players they have coming back on defense.
[00:09:45] They have a lot of ceiling left to realize as far as what they can accomplish and how they can play you got a lot of really young talent on the defense I mean guys like Peyton Bowen are coming into their second year.
[00:10:01] We've got.
[00:10:04] Pgadabawari on the defensive line.
[00:10:08] Danny Stutzman.
[00:10:09] Danny Stutzman.
[00:10:10] Danny Stutzman.
[00:10:12] Danny Stutzman.
[00:10:14] Danny Stutzman.
[00:10:39] Danny Stutzman.
[00:11:09] Danny Stutzman.
[00:11:39] Danny Stutzman.
[00:12:09] Danny Stutzman.
[00:12:39] Danny Stutzman.
[00:13:09] Danny Stutzman.
[00:13:39] Danny Stutzman.
[00:14:09] Danny Stutzman.
[00:14:41] Danny Stutzman.
[00:14:42] Danny Stutzman.
[00:15:11] Danny Stutzman.
[00:15:41] Danny Stutzman.
[00:16:11] Danny Stutzman.
[00:16:41] Danny Stutzman.
[00:17:11] Danny Stutzman.
[00:17:41] Danny Stutzman.
[00:18:11] Danny Stutzman.
[00:18:41] Danny Stutzman.
[00:18:42] Danny Stutzman.
[00:19:11] So you know, but, but it we ate, it we 11 finalists.
[00:19:18] And of course, with named MVP at the 23 rivals camp,
[00:19:21] but you know, you look at Hawkins and I was gonna ask that,
[00:19:25] you know, you see some tweets and I don't put much into it
[00:19:29] just simply because I do believe obviously it's Jackson
[00:19:33] Arnold's position to have.
[00:19:35] I don't see him losing it unless barring this something.
[00:19:40] I ain't gonna say anything because I don't want to be the jinx.
[00:19:42] Barring something that was to happen, but
[00:19:47] but I was gonna, you know, ask that question.
[00:19:49] Could we potentially see if Hawkins is the guy that we sit
[00:19:52] that some say he is, could we see that person
[00:19:55] and obviously you definitely you answered that one
[00:19:58] without even being the beeness?
[00:20:00] And that's pretty cool in my book
[00:20:02] because I think Hawkins can definitely start
[00:20:04] but I don't see that unless we just get a surprise
[00:20:08] if Hawkins can't fall, cave run.
[00:20:10] That could happen.
[00:20:12] Now I think the backup job is probably KC Thompson's to lose.
[00:20:16] At this point, I would be surprised if it's anybody
[00:20:18] but Thompson barring some sort of injury.
[00:20:22] But I mean, the other thing that KC Thompson is bringing
[00:20:25] to the table is that voice of experience.
[00:20:28] I mean, he's played a lot of football
[00:20:30] and he started with ton of games
[00:20:32] for several different teams.
[00:20:34] So he's really gonna be more of a second quarterbacks
[00:20:40] coach to some extent.
[00:20:42] And that guy, I think that Arnold can lean on
[00:20:46] when things are getting pretty gnarly
[00:20:49] for like other terms out there.
[00:20:52] And the never can have too many resources like that
[00:20:59] for a guy like Arnold who's coming in
[00:21:01] to his first year as a starter.
[00:21:03] And so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
[00:21:07] But yeah, I would encourage people to don't put too much
[00:21:11] on Hawkins just to enjoy the fact that he's doing well
[00:21:14] that he's showing a lot of promise
[00:21:16] and that his future appears to be bright
[00:21:17] at the University of Oklahoma.
[00:21:19] But he's not ready to go in
[00:21:23] and play against Alabama over Tennessee just yet.
[00:21:27] And that's okay.
[00:21:29] Definitely don't rush from this this year
[00:21:31] because it could be a lot of growing pains,
[00:21:33] guys.
[00:21:34] I hate saying that, but we might, but hopefully not.
[00:21:37] But you know, switching quarterback to running back
[00:21:40] core a year ago was one probably with the best years
[00:21:44] we could have had out there,
[00:21:46] Devontate Barnes, you name Gavin Sachi,
[00:21:49] you got Marcus Major and Teo A Walker
[00:21:52] and did a course offseason Walker heads out
[00:21:56] to, I believe he went off to Wisconsin,
[00:21:59] Marcus Major went up to Minnesota.
[00:22:02] Now you get Barnes and Sachi and now we're looking at,
[00:22:09] obviously I would imagine one A one B.
[00:22:12] You can go one and two however,
[00:22:13] that fits best on that.
[00:22:15] But then you get a course guys like Xavier Robertson
[00:22:18] and Caleb Hicks and the Samuel Franklin as well.
[00:22:24] Are we gonna see pretty much Barnes in your opinion?
[00:22:28] Could we see like a Barnes and the Sachi
[00:22:29] going back and forth when it comes to reps,
[00:22:33] obviously in the game, obviously I'll side of minus practice,
[00:22:37] but in the game, could we see a kind of balance
[00:22:39] between Sachi and Barnes or could this be Gavin's position
[00:22:43] and you may see just a Devontate kind of go in and out
[00:22:47] at times when it comes to play calling.
[00:22:51] How they split the carries will be interesting.
[00:22:54] Sachi to my knowledge is gonna be the starter
[00:22:56] and the primary guy in the back field,
[00:22:58] at least to start out.
[00:23:00] The question in my mind is,
[00:23:02] we didn't see a healthy Devontate Barnes all year last year
[00:23:05] and we'd heard about some of those struggles
[00:23:10] as the season went along last year
[00:23:12] and as we got into the offseason after the goal game
[00:23:15] and he confirmed a lot of that
[00:23:17] in an interview that he did with the media,
[00:23:20] I think it was last week,
[00:23:22] during one of their sessions
[00:23:23] where he talked about the fact that he struggled
[00:23:26] with that injury all year
[00:23:27] and a lot of it was the mental part of the game
[00:23:29] where he was still being dealt a little bit mind you
[00:23:33] but he was really struggling with trusting that
[00:23:37] and getting to the point where he felt like himself
[00:23:39] on the field.
[00:23:40] And when you don't have that confidence
[00:23:45] in your body, it really shows on the field he can't hide it
[00:23:49] and that's what we saw all year last year
[00:23:52] and we thought we'd get on Sachi too to some extent.
[00:23:55] Now he was able to recover
[00:23:58] or bring it to a point where he was closer to 100%
[00:24:01] and that's when you saw him take off
[00:24:03] and have under your games in the last four games of the year.
[00:24:12] The reports that I've heard
[00:24:13] of spring practice and even going back to
[00:24:15] when we're conditioning was that Devontee Barnes
[00:24:17] had finally gotten to that point
[00:24:19] both physically and mentally, mentally where
[00:24:22] he's back to his old self.
[00:24:23] I had one source tell me after a practice last week
[00:24:26] that they just observing him
[00:24:30] and how he's running and how he's moving
[00:24:33] that he looked like the 2022 cheese at the old version
[00:24:37] of his on-day barn and spread his end
[00:24:39] what we saw in the 20s for you.
[00:24:40] So that's good news for him
[00:24:42] but that's a good news for senior fans
[00:24:45] because if you can pair Devontee Barnes
[00:24:48] a healthy Devontee Barnes with a healthy Gavin Sachi,
[00:24:52] then you have a very, very good backfield.
[00:24:57] You have an SEC level backfield
[00:25:00] and you have Caleb Hicks back there who is also shown
[00:25:06] showing out really well here during spring practice.
[00:25:09] He's another guy that brings a lot to the table
[00:25:11] in terms of power and speed
[00:25:14] and then to the Marco has confidence in from all accounts.
[00:25:20] And then the freshman Xavier Robinson
[00:25:26] has a really worked hard in the weight room.
[00:25:27] He's he needed to find Tune is body a little bit
[00:25:32] and lose some weight.
[00:25:35] I think he went down from the mid to 40s
[00:25:38] down to about 228,
[00:25:39] we have a good their way in right before spring practice.
[00:25:43] And then you have the transfer in
[00:25:46] that you mentioned the same Franklin.
[00:25:48] Franklin had why would describe
[00:25:51] as a slow start to the spring practice period
[00:25:54] but I think it was two or three practices ago
[00:25:58] as far as told me that he had a breakout
[00:26:02] to the point where rent vennables even
[00:26:05] seemed to him out after practices as a guy
[00:26:08] that had improved drastically.
[00:26:10] And the light bulb that kind of come on for him.
[00:26:13] So there's a lot of options there
[00:26:16] for the Marco Murray work with.
[00:26:19] And I think probably more so than at any point
[00:26:22] that since springables came on board
[00:26:27] and it's really just a matter of which of those guys
[00:26:32] maybe other than Barnes and in Sautchuk can be sound
[00:26:36] in past protection.
[00:26:38] And all of the little details that go into playing
[00:26:42] the running back position,
[00:26:42] all of which are very important to earning Murray's trust
[00:26:47] and getting that time on the field.
[00:26:49] That doesn't even mention the income
[00:26:53] and freshman feet on and Taylor Tadeum.
[00:26:55] He didn't enroll early so he won't be there
[00:26:59] until the start of some of work out during a few weeks.
[00:27:02] But I mean, he's the number one running back to the nation
[00:27:05] coming out of high school.
[00:27:08] We've seen some of his work on the baseball diamond here
[00:27:11] over the last couple of weeks.
[00:27:13] He had an inside the park home run
[00:27:15] where he displayed a lot of that speed running around the bases.
[00:27:19] I mean, he's a dynamic player.
[00:27:22] And it'll be interesting just for my perspective
[00:27:26] to see when it where he gets in.
[00:27:28] And they start going through some of workouts and fall camp.
[00:27:31] You can see able to work his way up that depth chart at any point
[00:27:36] and push for time.
[00:27:38] So we'll see, I mean, if guys like Caleb Pigs
[00:27:41] and Sam Franklin are continuing on their trajectory,
[00:27:45] you don't know what Xavier Robinson is gonna do.
[00:27:50] And we'll have to say about things,
[00:27:51] but it could be a very crowded room with a lot of different options
[00:27:56] where it comes to the fall.
[00:27:59] I like that I love what the running back core is going
[00:28:02] not just this year's group, but even moving forward.
[00:28:06] And of course, Blaylock, I believe,
[00:28:10] is another big time pick up that they just recently got
[00:28:14] as well for the 25 class.
[00:28:17] And I like what they're going with the running back core
[00:28:20] and of course, Demarco continue to recruit
[00:28:23] for nominal running backs and it shows why,
[00:28:28] he won the best in the country at added, not being biased.
[00:28:30] But results speak volumes on his in as well.
[00:28:34] And of course, a position that I wanted to say was bad last year,
[00:28:40] but Paul wasn't one of the best receiving cores even though
[00:28:43] I would argue it wasn't as bad as make people made out to be,
[00:28:47] but the receiving core course, Drake's groups, Drake's stuops
[00:28:51] this gone and headed to,
[00:28:56] at least hopefully in FL and Wishing Best moving forward on that.
[00:29:01] But now obviously his presence both on and off the field
[00:29:05] is going to hubby highly missed.
[00:29:06] And a year ago was the big 12 lean receiver
[00:29:10] and catches and yards.
[00:29:11] And I believe touchdown that could be wrong on that.
[00:29:14] But we look at the receiving core,
[00:29:18] Anthony comes back of course,
[00:29:19] a disappointing into his season with the injury that he had
[00:29:23] and then you got broke and of course, Nick Anderson.
[00:29:28] And then you got D on Burke,
[00:29:29] Burke's the transfer out of Purdue,
[00:29:33] a speech there that brings a whole new element to Seth's offense
[00:29:37] and what he can do for OU this year.
[00:29:42] Receiving core in your eyes could we see
[00:29:46] at speed what we've seen in the past with the Hollywood
[00:29:50] and the Marvin Mims.
[00:29:52] And we see this highest parrot,
[00:29:54] an offense more so be relying a lot this year
[00:29:59] barring something in the backfield
[00:30:00] that we might be overseeing this year
[00:30:03] and these speedsters could be literally running track
[00:30:08] if you track me.
[00:30:11] I think when you look at who OU has on the roster,
[00:30:15] the constant seems to be speed.
[00:30:17] It doesn't matter who you throw out there.
[00:30:21] I mean, even a big guy like Jason Gibson,
[00:30:24] I think is running a sub four or five
[00:30:26] for what we're right in there.
[00:30:27] And then you have Brandon Thompson,
[00:30:31] who is a legit track star at the position
[00:30:34] you have Nick Anderson
[00:30:36] who isn't slow by any stretch of the imagination.
[00:30:40] Beyond Burke's, I think it's probably one of the faster
[00:30:43] white receivers on the team outside of maybe Thompson
[00:30:45] and Petaway at this point.
[00:30:47] And so it's all over the field
[00:30:51] and to answer your question,
[00:30:54] yeah, I think you're gonna see
[00:30:56] Seth Lichrell, it employs some different schemes
[00:31:00] and formations and plays that we'll try and take advantage of that.
[00:31:04] And there's a lot of different ways to do that.
[00:31:06] It's not just everybody run a go-rout.
[00:31:07] There's a lot of different ways to create space
[00:31:10] and things that you can do that speed naturally
[00:31:14] does for you as you get into routes
[00:31:16] and start to really branch out
[00:31:19] and find different ways
[00:31:21] and things that you can do here.
[00:31:22] So it'll be fun to see.
[00:31:25] The guys that you mentioned are all
[00:31:29] one to keep an eye on and guys
[00:31:31] that you'll see out there.
[00:31:32] I mean, the on-berg's is a constant.
[00:31:34] It doesn't matter who you talk to as far as
[00:31:37] if you're watching Spring Practice,
[00:31:39] everybody talks about the on-berg's.
[00:31:41] And the impact that he's having
[00:31:43] and just how good he looks right now
[00:31:47] in every single practice it seems.
[00:31:50] But there's another guy that I wanted to bring out
[00:31:53] who is one of the younger players.
[00:31:55] He was the first one last year, he's coming back this year.
[00:31:59] And that's Jekwez Petaway.
[00:32:01] I had a source telling me just the other day
[00:32:03] that from his respect to Petaway
[00:32:05] is the most improved of the literacy
[00:32:07] or group from year to year.
[00:32:09] And so yeah, there's a lot he's gonna be
[00:32:13] I think in behind, in behind,
[00:32:15] the icebergs but he's been working
[00:32:17] both the slot position and the outside spots as well.
[00:32:20] So he's got multiple opportunities
[00:32:22] to get on the fields and show what he can do
[00:32:24] and be in that rotation.
[00:32:26] But I mean just the fact that you've got a guy like him.
[00:32:29] If he can continue in his development,
[00:32:35] burn and that Jones is trust and get on the field.
[00:32:38] I mean he's got just as much speed to burn as anybody
[00:32:41] in that room.
[00:32:42] And so there's just another weapon there on the field.
[00:32:45] And another guy that can come in
[00:32:48] and make sure that you know, it is remaining fresh
[00:32:52] and it doesn't get fatigue throughout the game.
[00:32:55] But yeah, there's ton of speed,
[00:32:58] there's, and there's a good mixture of size and speed
[00:33:02] in that group too.
[00:33:03] It's not.
[00:33:04] I mean you can put Nick Anderson and Jason Gibson
[00:33:07] out there.
[00:33:08] They're both six foot four plus.
[00:33:10] I mean, Gibson's about 66, 67, somewhere in that range
[00:33:14] and they both can run like crazy.
[00:33:17] And then you've got Leon Berks who,
[00:33:20] he's not as tall by any stretch but he is fast
[00:33:23] and he's not small at all.
[00:33:25] So just looking at the pieces they have to work with,
[00:33:30] it's got, I think the potential to be a real headache
[00:33:34] for the defenses that they played
[00:33:36] as a matter of their plan in Georgia or Vanderbilt
[00:33:41] or whoever else.
[00:33:42] It's going to be a problem.
[00:33:44] And there's a lot of things to be cited there
[00:33:48] which is kind of interesting when you think about
[00:33:50] what we were all talking about
[00:33:52] with the legacy of the group at this point last year
[00:33:55] because they were a lot of pieces that were new
[00:33:58] that were young and improving.
[00:34:00] And while you could look at the talent
[00:34:03] that was in that room and say,
[00:34:05] yeah I think there's problems here
[00:34:07] and there's room for optimism.
[00:34:09] You definitely couldn't point it out
[00:34:11] and say what's going to be the one of the best groups
[00:34:12] on the team or in the conference
[00:34:15] or whatever measure you want into apply there
[00:34:18] and coming into this year
[00:34:19] it's almost a complete opposite.
[00:34:23] And this is proven out by the results last year
[00:34:25] and they proved to be one of the best position groups
[00:34:28] on the team as far as production
[00:34:30] and consistency and everything else.
[00:34:32] And a lot of that is tied back to Emma Jones
[00:34:35] and his ability as a coach
[00:34:36] and tying that in with the talent
[00:34:39] that's in that room and pulling it all together.
[00:34:41] So I think it would be
[00:34:46] it's totally valid to expect that trajectory
[00:34:49] to continue upward and if you listen
[00:34:50] to reports coming out of spring practice,
[00:34:53] that definitely seems to be the case.
[00:34:55] I guess that's what we're telling the yesterday
[00:34:57] that the wider sea of our group
[00:34:59] as a whole is kind of hitting their stride here
[00:35:01] if they get into the midway point
[00:35:04] as spring practice and that's definitely good news
[00:35:08] for senior fans as they look to have that group.
[00:35:13] I mean, tame that consistency
[00:35:14] and continue to be a strength of the team.
[00:35:17] And final one of what touch on is tighting group
[00:35:20] that definitely is new faces this year.
[00:35:28] You got course the product out of the product out of...
[00:35:37] Excuse me, you got the product out of Baylor
[00:35:39] in Jake Roberts.
[00:35:42] I believe we got a Southeast Louisiana
[00:35:44] I don't know exactly his name
[00:35:45] but the change for a Southeast Louisiana
[00:35:48] and then Caden Helms of course a year ago
[00:35:52] on the unlucky injury
[00:35:54] and had some, you know,
[00:35:57] couldn't even practice on the field a year ago.
[00:36:00] So Titan wise, what are we looking at?
[00:36:04] Is there a leading candidate
[00:36:07] could be Jake Roberts?
[00:36:08] Can we see Bauer's sharp?
[00:36:11] Excuse me.
[00:36:12] Caden McIntyre, no he showed some flashers early on
[00:36:16] the last year throughout last season in 23.
[00:36:21] Where are we?
[00:36:22] Can we see a mixture?
[00:36:23] Who's the, who's the, I would say,
[00:36:26] probably expect to start or come on August 30th?
[00:36:32] As of right now, if you were gonna run your first team out
[00:36:36] there today, it would be Bauer's sharp
[00:36:37] and I think that will remain to be the case
[00:36:41] in a barring and it kind of surprised
[00:36:43] or injury or anything like that.
[00:36:45] Bauer's sharp has been by far
[00:36:48] the most impressive tie-in to the group right now.
[00:36:50] You still have Jake Roberts who's recovering from injury
[00:36:53] so he'll be in the mix for sure.
[00:36:56] I think you have the really talented freshman
[00:36:59] development tool who's coming in as well.
[00:37:02] And I like a couple of other pieces there
[00:37:06] that we don't really talk a whole lot about.
[00:37:08] There's Josh Fannel who is still pretty new to football
[00:37:12] and this is, is, focus was basketball.
[00:37:15] I think is recently as a couple years ago
[00:37:18] if you're not mistaken.
[00:37:19] So you got Josh Fannel, Jake Roberts,
[00:37:21] Devon Mitchell and then you're Bauer Sharpe as a starter.
[00:37:27] And guys like Kate McIntyre and even Kate and Helms
[00:37:31] I think having an opportunity to get into the mix there.
[00:37:34] Another guy that doesn't get talked about a lot
[00:37:37] but I've heard a lot of buzz
[00:37:39] coming out of practice is, is hemp-fay.
[00:37:43] So you know, you've got a lot of different pieces there.
[00:37:47] Again, Mauer Sharpe though to me
[00:37:49] is the clear cut starter at this point
[00:37:52] is based on how he has performed his brain practice
[00:37:57] even going back to the win of workouts
[00:37:59] and how those went
[00:38:01] and what we heard coming out of that.
[00:38:03] So a lot of really good pieces there
[00:38:07] and I think you've got a real opportunity
[00:38:10] for Le Troil and Fennelie to be able to have confidence
[00:38:14] in the 22% offset for the first time,
[00:38:16] which is really night and day difference
[00:38:19] from what you had at this point last year
[00:38:21] where it was, you know, a beat up Austin Stogner versus
[00:38:29] and then nobody else sent me that wasn't either experienced
[00:38:33] or we're injured.
[00:38:36] So they really went out and improved that tight in room
[00:38:42] as a whole.
[00:38:43] And in Bauer Sharpe, I look like he could be
[00:38:46] a dynamic presence there at that position.
[00:38:50] He's got the size at 64250 to be a presence
[00:38:56] in the blocking and run game.
[00:38:59] And then he's got a lot of athletic abilities
[00:39:03] that enables him to be a pass catching threat down the field
[00:39:08] and create that kind of space.
[00:39:10] So again, a lot of being encouraged about there
[00:39:14] and it's not just sharp, there's pieces in the behind him
[00:39:17] like we've talked about that I think
[00:39:19] have a chance to come in and be an impact
[00:39:22] and it'll be interesting to see how full camp plays out
[00:39:24] because there's a lot of playing time
[00:39:26] that guys will be vying for in behind Sharpe
[00:39:29] and who's gonna be that second third even tied in.
[00:39:33] And to be in the rotation and there's a lot of talent,
[00:39:37] a lot of potential back in there.
[00:39:40] So that'll be one of the battles that I'll have an eye on
[00:39:43] in full camp in particular.
[00:39:45] And even as we get into some of the workouts,
[00:39:47] who is standing out in that arena
[00:39:49] because they're by doing a lot of seven on seven
[00:39:51] and it's always kind of a tell-tell sign
[00:39:55] to see who is consistent in the weight room
[00:39:59] and with what a duration of it requires
[00:40:01] from then during that period.
[00:40:03] So we'll monitor that as we go through summer
[00:40:06] and then you get into full camp,
[00:40:08] and it's a full on battle to see who can earn that time
[00:40:13] and be in that rotation.
[00:40:17] So Timberton, excuse me,
[00:40:18] September 21st, Tennessee,
[00:40:20] of course Oklahoma's inaugural SEC Games
[00:40:23] September 21st against Tennessee,
[00:40:24] Tennessee, who is coached by National Champion,
[00:40:29] quarterback Josh Hypel
[00:40:31] and former offensive coordinator of the sooner's.
[00:40:36] This one's kind of hard for me to imagine.
[00:40:38] I'm kind of,
[00:40:40] I don't see sooner than Asian Boo and Josh Hypel,
[00:40:43] but I just don't know.
[00:40:45] On September 21st, regardless of the kickoff time,
[00:40:49] what do you think the reception is for Josh Hypel
[00:40:52] when he comes back on that field for the first time
[00:40:54] and quite a while as a coach
[00:40:56] and of course, a long time as a player
[00:40:57] but is he gonna get a warmer reception
[00:41:00] or can we see some,
[00:41:02] could we see some Boo when it comes to that opening kickoff
[00:41:06] of the SEC?
[00:41:06] No, I don't think there's gonna be any cause
[00:41:11] or anything that would make me think
[00:41:13] that Hypel will get met with anything other
[00:41:16] than a very warm reception whenever he comes back.
[00:41:20] I know that the administration will go to great lengths
[00:41:24] to make that clear and welcome him back.
[00:41:27] I don't know what the lab plan or what they'll do,
[00:41:30] but no one took a stable young
[00:41:32] and this administration, I'm pretty confident.
[00:41:35] They'll be some sort of a public or a condition
[00:41:37] of sorts of Hypel and what he meant to the university
[00:41:41] and really still does,
[00:41:43] still means to the university
[00:41:45] and what he accomplished.
[00:41:46] I mean, it's the last national championship
[00:41:49] that the program has won
[00:41:52] and he was obviously a huge part of that.
[00:41:55] So just because things didn't end the way
[00:42:00] that anybody wanted them to whenever,
[00:42:03] Bob's tubes, you made the change and let Hypel go.
[00:42:06] I know that left us out of taste
[00:42:09] and people's mouths and again, it wasn't ideal.
[00:42:13] I don't think there's gonna cause
[00:42:14] that you fans to have any animosity towards Hypel
[00:42:17] and treat him anything other than with a lot
[00:42:20] of the respect when the reheak comes back.
[00:42:24] comments below,
[00:42:25] listen and watch that if you have any questions regarding
[00:42:29] Oklahoma or maybe your thoughts on Oklahoma's SEC
[00:42:33] in our girl season definitely leave them below.
[00:42:36] Lady Alpha showing some show love with Hyel.
[00:42:40] Thank you for these support
[00:42:42] and of course watching it and tuning in as well.
[00:42:45] We're looking at the 20, 24 season
[00:42:50] and what are the end-all be all on your list?
[00:42:56] Let's focus on the spring game.
[00:42:58] What are you looking for the top three
[00:43:00] or whatever exactly on your list?
[00:43:03] What are you looking for for the spring game on the 20th?
[00:43:08] So the main thing that I'm gonna be keeping in eye on
[00:43:10] is the offensive line
[00:43:11] and how they're working together as a unit
[00:43:13] because that's obviously one of the bigger questions
[00:43:16] on this team as we get into the season.
[00:43:19] So it's obviously a new group.
[00:43:22] There's a lot of mixing and matching going on
[00:43:25] as far as who's on the first team
[00:43:27] and who's on his left guard or right-time
[00:43:29] going on there is a lot going on there
[00:43:32] as Videnberg tries to figure out
[00:43:34] who is his best five
[00:43:36] and what that looks like on a series to series basis.
[00:43:40] And I think that's one of the things
[00:43:42] that you can actually evaluate to some extent
[00:43:46] in a setting like a spring game.
[00:43:48] So yeah, that's definitely one of the things
[00:43:51] that I'll be watching.
[00:43:52] I also wanna see obviously Jack's normal
[00:43:56] and wanna see how he performs
[00:43:57] and see my car comes get back there.
[00:44:00] See what he can do.
[00:44:02] But then I wanna watch a lot of the younger defenders
[00:44:06] that are on the team.
[00:44:07] I think it really wants to see David Stone
[00:44:09] and Jason Jackson
[00:44:10] what they look like in senior uniforms.
[00:44:13] I wanna see how they're utilizing to Tom McCullough
[00:44:16] if they decide to show anything
[00:44:19] as far as a position change or different schemes.
[00:44:23] It's a spring game, so expectations are pretty low
[00:44:26] as far as incoming out in the robbing
[00:44:28] and running any kind of exotic new formations.
[00:44:31] You know, defensively or offensively even
[00:44:34] that would tip their hands
[00:44:35] as far as what they're working on or what they're doing.
[00:44:38] But I think individually just looking at
[00:44:42] how a guy like Jacobi Johnson
[00:44:44] in the secondary performed.
[00:44:46] There's been a lot of talk about him
[00:44:47] and his progress and his development as a player.
[00:44:51] So I'll be watching that for sure.
[00:44:54] I wanna see Bauer Sharpe
[00:44:55] and see if he was up to the hype
[00:44:56] and wanna see Dianne Berks
[00:44:58] and how he looks for him down the field.
[00:45:02] You know, just a lot of individual things.
[00:45:04] And I think that's probably the lens
[00:45:06] that's probably the most effective way to view
[00:45:09] is setting like this is just look at
[00:45:12] the individual performances and guys
[00:45:15] and what they look like and just enjoy it.
[00:45:20] And it's gonna be a lot of fun.
[00:45:21] There's a lot of different faces out there
[00:45:23] that we'll get to see.
[00:45:25] And who knows what kind of scoring system
[00:45:28] will come up with for us this year?
[00:45:30] I think we were up into the hundreds from last year,
[00:45:34] which was interesting.
[00:45:36] So yeah, that's part of the fun too
[00:45:39] just figuring out how to heck they can't get like that.
[00:45:42] But it promises a big good time and you know,
[00:45:49] it may be kind of an end.
[00:45:51] I think it goes into the radar a little bit.
[00:45:53] I wanna see the kickers.
[00:45:54] I wanna see Smith, Mitch, Mitch, Mitch,
[00:45:56] and Keltner out there and see how they perform
[00:46:00] whenever it's not just coaches and players at practice
[00:46:03] and they've got 60 plus thousand people out there hopefully
[00:46:07] that are watching them and seeing what they do.
[00:46:12] So it'll be fun.
[00:46:13] And lots to keep it out and lots to watch
[00:46:17] and we'll see if they can put on a show of force.
[00:46:21] Yeah, remember last year I was on the East Club level
[00:46:29] and when the final play was the fact
[00:46:34] that the design factor, I think it was 100 points.
[00:46:36] So we were pretty ecstatic just in fact
[00:46:39] that we saw triple digits in football nonetheless.
[00:46:42] But yeah, I'm looking forward, well,
[00:46:45] the law thing I'm looking forward to,
[00:46:47] especially Michael Hawkins, the hype
[00:46:49] that he comes in coming out, just coming in to camp,
[00:46:53] spring camp as it is.
[00:46:54] Especially that offensive line,
[00:46:56] we'd love to see how they've died
[00:46:58] in that defense course I know.
[00:47:02] Improving last year on no burn bimbals,
[00:47:03] isn't happy where they're at yet.
[00:47:05] And I think they can just get better from there.
[00:47:07] But overall, I'm ready for them
[00:47:09] just to kind of get a feel of what this team looks like.
[00:47:13] And the next question as we swap over from football
[00:47:18] that two basketball is another OU sports.
[00:47:24] 24 schedule tough to kind of analogy it
[00:47:27] because obviously we'd just too hard to predict.
[00:47:30] What's your over under?
[00:47:31] What's the probably more realistic record
[00:47:34] on when it comes to this 24 team?
[00:47:36] And I have them right now, 75 just based on what I'm going
[00:47:41] off last year and kind of getting a feel of,
[00:47:44] but it's kind of tough obviously without seeing the spring
[00:47:47] and obviously knowing more as we get into summer camp.
[00:47:50] But as of right now, you're way, way too early.
[00:47:53] OU over a record, what are you looking at right now
[00:47:56] for the full of 24 students that we head into the SEC?
[00:47:59] So I think they end up with 9 and 3 and that didn't be here.
[00:48:07] So I think they will have a defense
[00:48:10] that can compete within anybody in the conference.
[00:48:13] And I'll give them a chance to win virtually every game
[00:48:17] that they play.
[00:48:19] So and then from there, it's a question of how the offense
[00:48:22] can come together.
[00:48:23] And can they be better?
[00:48:27] And some of those close to game situations
[00:48:30] and can they be better on the road?
[00:48:33] And some scenarios that they started
[00:48:35] within the last couple of years.
[00:48:36] So much keeping on that, but I think they've got a legit opportunity
[00:48:41] to go 9 and 3.
[00:48:44] And even, and to me, that's the four.
[00:48:47] If you go 8 and 4, you're probably going to miss the play off
[00:48:50] even with the expanded format.
[00:48:53] You're obviously not competing for any kind of conference
[00:48:55] championship at that point.
[00:48:57] And I think you've got to be to somewhat extent,
[00:49:00] or to some extent, disappointed in that kind of result.
[00:49:03] And with this defense and who they have returning
[00:49:07] and who they have on offenses from a talent perspective,
[00:49:14] I think you've got to be at least hoping
[00:49:18] if not expecting that they can pull off 9 wins.
[00:49:22] And then from there, I think you're probably
[00:49:24] going to play off at that point, if you can win 9 games.
[00:49:28] But we'll see.
[00:49:31] The end of the year schedule with Alabama and LSU
[00:49:36] is going to be a rough one because you never know who's going
[00:49:38] to be injured and which team is going to look like at that point
[00:49:41] of the season.
[00:49:42] And they'll have played a grind at a schedule
[00:49:46] for that at that point whenever they get down there.
[00:49:48] And so that will be one to watch.
[00:49:51] But again, defensively, especially if they can keep their key guys
[00:49:58] healthy, I think you're going to be looking at
[00:50:01] opportunity to win 9 or 10 games in a few other way.
[00:50:05] But it's going to require their best.
[00:50:07] And they'll have to rise to the level of competition
[00:50:11] for sure.
[00:50:11] And that includes the players, but it also encompasses
[00:50:15] the coaching staff and thenables and
[00:50:20] improving some of the game management issues that we've
[00:50:24] seen pop up in his first couple of years.
[00:50:26] So there's a lot of different things that have to come together
[00:50:31] for that to happen.
[00:50:32] But I think there's a legit opportunity for those things
[00:50:38] to be improved upon.
[00:50:39] And for some of these new faces, to really come together and gel
[00:50:43] in ways that should be exciting.
[00:50:46] I know we're year and a half still away.
[00:50:48] And I'm not worried about 2025, but I'm loving the fact that
[00:50:53] we play Michigan in 25.
[00:50:54] Where did your thoughts on that matchup with it?
[00:50:57] I know I like where said we're year away from it,
[00:50:59] see, but just the fact that we get the same schedule as the SEC
[00:51:03] this year as we do next, but adding Michigan in.
[00:51:08] Is that continues to be as Josie always does,
[00:51:10] just schedule good teams and you're quick thought of that year
[00:51:14] way, you're way matchup with Michigan.
[00:51:18] It's going to be entertaining.
[00:51:19] It's going to be just being another brutal addition to
[00:51:24] an already difficult SEC schedule.
[00:51:27] So it seems like that's the direction of the SEC likes to go
[00:51:33] though that they like for their teams to play some pretty tough
[00:51:36] out of confidence in points every year.
[00:51:38] So you know, we used to definitely not going to be any different
[00:51:42] in that scenario.
[00:51:44] So it'll be entertaining for sure.
[00:51:48] A big good game for the fans to watch, but boy is that going to be
[00:51:53] a brutal way to open the year and then jump right into the fire
[00:51:58] as the SEC schedule.
[00:52:00] Switching over to basketball or basketball,
[00:52:03] from football, over to basketball and Oklahoma men's team just
[00:52:08] missing out on the NCAA tournament with a third straight year.
[00:52:14] And I know Porter Moesher was frustrated.
[00:52:16] I know a lot of senior fans were somewhere.
[00:52:18] It depends on if you talk to kind of mix feelings, but we're
[00:52:22] kind of back in the same situation as we were a year ago.
[00:52:26] We, you know Oklahoma now losing what four or five players
[00:52:31] now, Jay, I won't butcher them and hope not, but
[00:52:34] Jay, beyond the column with the game winner over Oklahoma state up
[00:52:37] in Bellam this year, he's now the latest of the bunch to
[00:52:42] enter his name in the transfer portal.
[00:52:46] I like where Moesher's trying to take this team is kind of
[00:52:49] different, I know it's I'm sure it's difficult for him now.
[00:52:52] Back to back years practically lose almost half of the roster.
[00:52:58] And general weather guard regardless from graduation and or
[00:53:01] transfer portal.
[00:53:04] As all you fans, I know reading comments, a lot of them are
[00:53:07] kind of a little concern that is there behind the scenes.
[00:53:09] I was we may not know and obviously won't go into that much
[00:53:12] that, but you know from someone that covers in
[00:53:17] the university athletics.
[00:53:21] Here we should have we asked to owe you fans be a little
[00:53:24] concerned. This is now the second straight year that we're now
[00:53:28] having to practically redevelop another roster.
[00:53:33] Is this practically what we're going to see not just
[00:53:35] that Oklahoma, but college basketball and football alone just because of
[00:53:40] the transfer portal and the NIOs.
[00:53:41] This is as part of what we're going to have to get used to.
[00:53:46] I mean, it's a very good question.
[00:53:47] I think that whenever you look at just the national landscape,
[00:53:52] you do see a lot of transients in pretty much every roster
[00:53:58] across the country, at least to some extent.
[00:54:00] Now in a use case specifically, I think you have to be
[00:54:06] objectively concerned about the level to which
[00:54:11] that roster turnover happens or has happened
[00:54:15] less a couple years and then again this year.
[00:54:18] And it's really difficult to build a culture
[00:54:25] to maintain momentum within a program.
[00:54:28] If you're constantly replacing half or more your roster every season,
[00:54:34] it's almost impossible.
[00:54:35] And so again, I think you have to be concerned about that.
[00:54:42] It is a, it isn't issue.
[00:54:46] But the bigger issue is that the rosters that have been put together haven't
[00:54:50] been good enough to make the tournament to date.
[00:54:54] And I mean there's a lot of, and now you can look at the end of the season
[00:54:59] and there was a lot of talk about how you should have made the tournament
[00:55:03] especially over some of the other teams that were selected.
[00:55:07] And you've got a legitimate case there.
[00:55:09] But if you're owe you, don't lose Texas Tech.
[00:55:13] Yep.
[00:55:14] Yeah.
[00:55:15] And if you don't do that then you're probably we end.
[00:55:17] And there's a couple of other games mid to late in the
[00:55:22] season that they weren't able to win,
[00:55:28] that they had a real opportunity to do so if they
[00:55:32] make a play here or there or you don't make a mistake here or there.
[00:55:36] And so in the same way that things were kind of ripped away from them with
[00:55:44] the so-called dead thieves and the teams that that one
[00:55:47] or conference tournaments that that weren't supposed to,
[00:55:50] or that wouldn't have gotten into the NCAA tournament if they hadn't won
[00:55:53] this conference tournaments.
[00:55:57] The flip side is that you had games within your control
[00:56:01] if you're owe you or you could have put it out of reach and made it
[00:56:07] for where it wasn't even a question
[00:56:09] who were the committee to put you in.
[00:56:11] And it didn't get done for whatever reason.
[00:56:14] Ultimately that's on quarter-mosure
[00:56:17] and you can dissect all the reasons why that happened.
[00:56:21] I mean there were, you can turn up with reasons all day long.
[00:56:25] Bottom line is that it's a third straight season
[00:56:29] of not making the NCAA tournament by any measure that's not acceptable.
[00:56:33] And that's not in dispute by anybody
[00:56:37] either in the fan base or on the staff or the administration.
[00:56:40] And so it requires a certain degree of soul searching
[00:56:47] and some deep questions that have to be asked about
[00:56:50] how you were running your program and is put as a pleasure to get fit.
[00:56:56] And while it doesn't, I think it makes sense to bring
[00:57:01] in back for another year,
[00:57:04] it definitely can't be a fourth year of the same results.
[00:57:07] You know without some major changes happening.
[00:57:10] But answer your question.
[00:57:12] I don't know that outside of making,
[00:57:17] I think if you make the tournament next year,
[00:57:20] then suddenly things could turn around and if you make the tournament,
[00:57:23] then that could be a shot in the arm from a cultural perspective.
[00:57:28] From just a team program, momentum,
[00:57:31] perspective to where it gives motion more of a pitch to make
[00:57:36] to some of these guys that have eligibility remaining and convince and to stay.
[00:57:42] Maybe when some of those arguments that he hasn't, they able to win here over the last three years.
[00:57:47] But a time will tell.
[00:57:49] First step is get a roster together that can make the tournament
[00:57:53] and compete in the SEC.
[00:57:55] If you do that, then I think you may resolve some of these
[00:58:00] roster-tone or turnover issues, but you have to construct a roster well.
[00:58:03] You have to bring guys that are athletic that can
[00:58:07] compete at this level because not every player that comes from
[00:58:12] group of five or a lower level type team is going to be able to compete physically
[00:58:17] in a P4 conference or a P5 conference or a Havu,
[00:58:22] that's constructing in the basketball world.
[00:58:25] But the point is that you've got to have a roster that can compete
[00:58:29] within a conference schedule and get to the tournament
[00:58:32] and then you've got a case to make about,
[00:58:34] you know, hey come back and try this for another year and stay on the team.
[00:58:38] Well, absolutely.
[00:58:40] And you know, for sure, we always don't know this schedule.
[00:58:43] Basketball is not like football and we know 10 years down the road
[00:58:47] and we knew five years down the road unfortunately.
[00:58:50] Kind of different on that one, but we know obviously
[00:58:52] a battle for a land.
[00:58:54] They're part of that tournament during the Thanksgiving holiday
[00:58:58] and Arizona, Criting, Davidson, Gonzaga in the Aniluvule
[00:59:03] and their former Big 12 West Virginia.
[00:59:07] Obviously not an easy bracket regardless of how you look at it.
[00:59:09] They might be your most easiest, but I might be under underestimating them.
[00:59:14] But you know, they're in a position now.
[00:59:18] Hopefully they can recruit and what I will say as a fan at the same time.
[00:59:24] Not just for as a hot take but it's just realistic stuff is
[00:59:30] oh, the basketball program and the university, my opinion,
[00:59:34] really needs to figure out what anil they have that potential
[00:59:38] bid out for the new arena that is near the university north park
[00:59:43] potentially, but I really believe I might be wrong
[00:59:49] that that Ilan for Elincy.
[00:59:52] But the LNC is really a big ice to want it comes to recruiting because
[00:59:59] it's just I'm sure you've been there many times.
[01:00:03] It's just you walk in and there you go.
[01:00:07] What you see is what you get.
[01:00:08] And so I'm sure hopefully not but I'm sure that has
[01:00:12] has got to be a kind of a downfall for for
[01:00:18] a quarter and even for the women's for Jenny on the women's side, but you know,
[01:00:22] seems like they do are pretty good right now.
[01:00:25] But hopefully they can get around because the SEC in basketball won't be
[01:00:29] no easy task for coach, mode or in company.
[01:00:33] No, not at all. And there's been a lot of talk about the LNC
[01:00:39] center and impestalities and administration support over the years.
[01:00:44] They need a new arena problem line that is so far overdue, it's not even
[01:00:51] funny. I mean it is a huge problem.
[01:00:57] And so you hope that the City of Norman,
[01:00:59] even though to me building something on top campus is far from ideal
[01:01:05] far better than what they have right now in the LNC.
[01:01:09] Unfortunately. So I was one of those people and this is maybe a little bit of a
[01:01:14] romantic, you know, unrealistic view of things.
[01:01:18] But whenever they played that game in the caslin early in the year,
[01:01:23] you know, I was one of the ones that was thinking to myself,
[01:01:28] man it would sure be nice if they could just put some money into this thing.
[01:01:32] I mean, turning the Lord no one to parking lot and best people up there.
[01:01:36] Or just let the students out of it. I mean, you can jump with a billion ways.
[01:01:39] I mean, I was, but that atmosphere, I mean, that atmosphere compared to what you get in the LNC,
[01:01:46] I mean, just no comparison. I mean, to me having, you know, 4,000 people screaming in
[01:01:55] yelling and filling that place was sound and dinnering that kind of atmosphere is far better than
[01:02:01] 10,000 the LNC on a great day. It's just, it's just crazy. So, you know, anyway,
[01:02:09] but that's never, that's never going to happen. It's just not going to, there is a whole bunch of
[01:02:14] reasons why it wouldn't work. I understand them all, not saying it's realistic and just saying
[01:02:19] it would be nice to me. You could make that sort of thing happen. But anything but the LNC,
[01:02:25] I think that has to be this slogan is anything but the LNC.
[01:02:29] No, I'm with you Matt, real quick and then finish out with the transition of each team.
[01:02:34] You know, I actually thought that brought that idea with the buddy of mine. We were talking
[01:02:39] just texting him and his wife went to a game in the LNC and I told them I said, I took my dad
[01:02:44] to a game. Oh, that's what it, I don't know, 2017, 18, I don't remember. It was Texas Tech
[01:02:51] and Norman. That's all I know. And as right before his major stroke and 20, but he looked around
[01:02:56] and he said, when that thing opened, he was a freshman. I know you. And he said, he'll be 66 this year.
[01:03:02] So I kind of gives him every kind of eyesight work. How old, you know, kind of, oh, it's been a while.
[01:03:08] He said, has no, besides a few things here and there, it hasn't changed especially the seating. So
[01:03:13] you know, long overdue definitely. I know it has a lot of history, but some day you just got to
[01:03:19] get a move on and I always brought up why can't they use my cast and just to ask Tampa until
[01:03:25] they either really gut it out like TCU did or, or, you know, I wouldn't say tear down. But I don't
[01:03:32] know if that's feasible, but I'm sure they won't. I don't know what the solution is for them.
[01:03:37] Besides getting off campus, but you're already having issues drawing people because
[01:03:41] it's semi not on campus even though the kind of is but anyway, I'm kind of cares with this
[01:03:47] program. I hope, you know, it's got a lot of potential. I hope, you know, Gordon Moger can get it
[01:03:54] going, but he's got a tough draw and as we wrap up the show, final question four years sports wise.
[01:04:00] You're looking at, you know, I would imagine gymnastics should be our right softball should be
[01:04:06] our right is there's a few athletic programs in your eyes that's going to have a rough earth.
[01:04:12] They were kind of struggling in big 12 and they just, you just don't see them competing for a
[01:04:17] while in the ESC store for any at all. What programs are those in your eyes? I can see probably three.
[01:04:25] And what are the ones that's going to have a smooth transition as we wrap up the show?
[01:04:32] So I think that baseball is going to have a lot tougher, a lot tougher schedule, a lot tougher
[01:04:41] competition in the SEC. You've got a lot of teams in the SEC that regularly compete for trips to
[01:04:51] Omaha if not the national championship. So that's going to be a battle. Big 12 is no
[01:04:59] slouch, don't get it rolling, but the SEC is different animal both in terms from the competition
[01:05:05] as well as the the fan support is just on a different level. So that I think that'll be an
[01:05:12] interesting one to watch. The sport that I think could maybe have an easier time as basketball,
[01:05:21] lens basketball in particular. I mean there's a lot of good teams in the SEC for sure and
[01:05:28] the competition won't be easy. But the big 12 from top to bottom has been just a murderers row
[01:05:36] of quad one teams for years now and that has not always translated to success in the tournament,
[01:05:47] but when it comes to winning games and a regular season and getting to the tournament,
[01:05:53] it's been really hard. I mean, it's oh you had maybe an average to maybe just below average team
[01:06:02] this year in basketball. A team that I think in almost any of their conference schedule would have
[01:06:11] had no trouble making the tournament, but they played in the big 12 where almost every single time
[01:06:19] they run out on the floor. It's a quad one, it's a quad one game. That makes it hard. That makes
[01:06:28] it really, really hard. While the SEC is tough, it's not the big 12 from the basketball perspective.
[01:06:35] So I think basketball could actually have a little bit of an easier time depending on how
[01:06:42] well they can construct the roster here going into the season and who they can bring in and
[01:06:47] and what that looks like. But I think those are the two that stand out to me.
[01:06:52] Yeah, definitely say baseball. I think would be one that's going to
[01:06:56] struggle early on, hopefully not in a long haul but early on for sure.
[01:07:02] You know, I don't under I still imagine basketball men's basketball for sure would be
[01:07:08] would be up there as well. I think gymnastics and sop all. They they're perfect. I think
[01:07:14] football is in the mix as well with them. I think they'll be perfectly fine to often.
[01:07:18] I don't really see them especially the softball team and they're they're phenomenal. They're just
[01:07:23] they're just good. They're just good. I don't bar in a lot of stuff going on. I don't see any issues
[01:07:30] that they would have. But Matt, it was a pleasure having you answer high pre-shature time and
