[00:01:03] Welcome to another episode ladies and gentlemen and all of you college football fans we are just
[00:01:12] around the corner depends on what conference you are a fan of and depends on what team you're
[00:01:16] a fan of because at this point we're getting to the nitty-gritty so at least for me for the
[00:01:23] Oklahoma sinners they kick off September 12th in Norman against Missouri State and then I
[00:01:30] believe Big 12 conference play begins September 26th in Norman against Kansas State I believe
[00:01:39] is their first big 12 conference game. The month of October Oklahoma is going on the
[00:01:45] road. They go probably mostly to the state of Texas so I think everybody but Iowa
[00:01:52] states the only one that isn't Texas I think it's TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State I believe
[00:01:58] is the month of October and then a month of November Oklahoma has one road game and I believe
[00:02:10] that's West Virginia so and then everybody else is at home and then of course December home
[00:02:16] game against I believe Baylor in Norman to finish out the conference schedule and the 2020 season
[00:02:23] before the big 12 championship game I want to say the 19th of December I could be wrong.
[00:02:30] Don't hold me to it at this rate anything's possible the way that the season has been
[00:02:37] has a been we haven't even kicked off yet we haven't even kicked off we've missed Tennessee
[00:02:42] and Army both games I'm actually looking forward to but COVID-19 says says differently nonetheless so
[00:02:53] in the meantime welcome to another episode of the air ready attack podcast today we'll be talking
[00:02:59] college football we'll be talking NBA and the Denver Broncos and even the Buffalo Bills
[00:03:07] I'll tell you why here shortly what's funny is before we kick things off we know what's
[00:03:12] funny is here in Oklahoma as we approach where at the end of August and we should be if it wasn't
[00:03:18] for the COVID-19 outbreak we're a week away from college football but instead everything cancels
[00:03:26] a lot of things postponed if you missed the previous episode definitely go back and check it
[00:03:32] out but I mentioned that the Big 10 the Pac-12 the Mountain West the Med American Conference
[00:03:38] all postponed cancelled this season hopefully to play in the spring of 2021 we'll see how that goes
[00:03:47] in fact we'll see how that goes we will talk Big 12 rumors and if you just chime in I'll actually
[00:03:57] retweet it on Twitter if you're not following me on Twitter that's where I'm mostly interactive
[00:04:01] that is on Twitter my personal Twitter on air with Mike and then the shows Twitter
[00:04:09] air raid underscore podcast you can get all kinds of information and so that's always fun to
[00:04:20] to to be a part of we'll also talk NBA is Billy Donovan on the hot seat here in Oklahoma City
[00:04:29] we'll talk at Denver Broncos for just a little tad bit hopefully and then don't forget the special
[00:04:35] Oklahoma City Oklahoma City Energy FC interview that I had with a few players and a few coaches
[00:04:42] just a year ago on media day prior to the 2019 season what is going ahead and release it
[00:04:49] even if it's a year ago needless to say not much in sports has been going on so
[00:04:54] well we will uh ain't gonna miss much in the meantime um well in the meantime my mouse is
[00:05:02] completely broken all right in the meantime we are going to talk college football and the rumors
[00:05:08] are a big 12 is Nebraska Iowa I believe was Wisconsin a few teams are wanting to join the
[00:05:20] big 12 more so than not that to get the to get the 2020 season underway and I don't necessarily blame
[00:05:33] them per se I understand a lot of people are wanting are wanting their seasons to continue
[00:05:43] unfortunately a lot of conferences uh just uh say otherwise so we'll see my thoughts on it
[00:05:52] it'll be cool to see Michigan I'll be cool to see Oklahoma play Nebraska again I know
[00:05:56] 2021 they come to Norman it'll be cool to see Oklahoma play you know Iowa it'll be the first
[00:06:03] time I think since the inside bowl many years ago seems like when Blake there was a quarterback
[00:06:07] at Oklahoma it'd be really cool to see Wisconsin who's known for the ground the running game
[00:06:18] the ground and pound mentality be really really really cool to see them play Michigan with the
[00:06:25] tradition that coach Harbour has at Michigan not only well pretty exceptional Ohio State he
[00:06:32] he's yet to find the magic to beat Ohio State but it'd be cool to play some team that you usually
[00:06:40] don't play or if you do play it's going to be the year 2032 or 2031 and I know a crop like that but
[00:06:48] my personal opinion I don't think now it's it's the time as much as I hate saying that
[00:06:53] be cool but we're less than a month away barely a month away I believe that what four weeks is
[00:07:01] what we're looking at and I'll be actually be in Norman so for the Missouri State game but
[00:07:07] we'll see um but now let it as is if it gets us away from playing Kansas I'm all for it if it
[00:07:15] gets us away from playing you know West Virginia Texas Tech I would probably mind I wouldn't mind
[00:07:24] Iowa State I probably wouldn't mind sub and out for just the year um really that's about
[00:07:33] who I would probably maybe TCU even though they're really really close but you know probably some of
[00:07:38] those teams will be my my suggestions if you want to call so much calling sub so in the meantime
[00:07:50] I think we're I think we're perfectly fine I don't know why my mouse is acting up so
[00:07:57] it'll be worth me here um call we'll talk uh AAC football and American athletic conference uh really
[00:08:04] there's not um not much really if you want to go back to episode 29 uh feel free to
[00:08:12] that will have all the American athletic uh predictions
[00:08:17] um it was in conjoining of the mountain west uh conference of course that conference is
[00:08:25] um is going to cancel and um
[00:08:34] and so we won't talk too much AAC the conference that we talked about mostly
[00:08:43] and I don't know what happened not no oh that's what it was so of course many of you know I'm
[00:08:48] a perfectionist and it's finding the best and many of you that uh probably are agreeing so
[00:08:55] so what we're gonna do is I will tell you a little story and then we'll talk and we'll talk
[00:09:00] Sunbelt conference USA real quick is I'm perfectionist it's best well some of these shows can last
[00:09:07] 30 40 minutes now this one shouldn't last no more than 30 40 minutes but um so we were doing a
[00:09:15] conference USA Sunbelt preview show well we just got done literally I it was going to be a double
[00:09:24] I had a double episode night mountain west AAC followed by Sunbelt conference USA well the Sunbelt
[00:09:33] part got recorded my retarded self and yes I'm very vocal about this life in general my retarded
[00:09:44] self felt the need to realize that my platform that I use with anchor dot fm the mic and when
[00:09:54] the mic's red and it's flashing with the logo of anchor like it is right now it means we're recording
[00:10:00] well let's be honest I was not paying attention I knew that there was a 30 minute timeframe on
[00:10:08] laptop versions on the phone versions it's longer and that's when I do a lot of my interviews
[00:10:12] it's longer because I'll have to avoid stopping going stop going so anyway long story short
[00:10:19] I talked I think another extra 20 something minutes well here I am editing going back to edit
[00:10:25] about to release it I kind of find out there's no other part there's no sun there's no conference USA
[00:10:33] I had a Sunbelt so you know things happen but life story as much as I am for a perfectionist
[00:10:44] that was my embarrassing moment so there you go it's a Thursday it's the end of the week tomorrow
[00:10:50] tgif depends on when you listen to this podcast it may be a Tuesday when you listen to it so happy
[00:10:55] hump day the following day or could be a Monday or it could be a Sunday and hopefully your week
[00:11:01] is a good one so and if you listen to it on a Friday you made it to the weekend and hopefully
[00:11:07] have a good weekend anyway Sunbelt conference mostly where's gonna get to it and here we go
[00:11:11] Sunbelt conference I think really it's gonna be Appalachian State and it's gonna be losing a lot
[00:11:16] for yes to win I don't see anyone else in the division or in the conference really gonna make a run to
[00:11:23] it I expect Troy you know I think Troy could be a dark horse in regards to a few positions
[00:11:31] or key positions otherwise I think Appalachian State now here's the thing we're talking
[00:11:36] college football if Appalachian State now I don't know if Sunbelt's going to continue with a
[00:11:43] like the big 12 is one non-conference two non-conference games the rest conference games
[00:11:48] or if they're just strictly conference games but the Sunbelt is gonna be a week year for the
[00:11:55] Sunbelt and so Appalachian State I already imagined should be in the top probably 20
[00:12:00] when they when the preseason polls come out if they haven't already come out
[00:12:04] I expect Appalachian State to at least be in top 25 now
[00:12:11] however when you got three coaches in three years for Appalachian State and that shows
[00:12:15] the success of of Appalachian State the mountaineers which by the way if you
[00:12:20] don't know where Appalachian State is it's in Boone Clark it's in Boone North Carolina
[00:12:26] but I believe the Appalachian State mountain is could sneak into that New Year's Six Bowl
[00:12:32] now how they're going to work the New Year's Six Bowls this year with a lot of these teams out
[00:12:37] that's a whole another topic for a whole another day and when we get more information on that one
[00:12:42] that one's definitely going to be a podcast in itself but in the meantime I think Appalachian
[00:12:48] State is going to take care of business Georgia Southern I think even though you can consider
[00:12:54] them a dark horse there's still a gap between Georgia Southern and Appalachian State I think
[00:13:02] Coach Lunsford squad is going to earn a definitely a bowl trip needless to say with the quarterback
[00:13:10] warts directing an option attack last year averaging over 253 yards a game you got Wesley
[00:13:19] Kennedy coming back JD King with the support they're going to be fined offensively defensively
[00:13:26] they're still room for improvement given up I believe close to six yards of play and conference
[00:13:33] play again the concerns still on defense secondary course with the departure to the
[00:13:40] corners and they're safe to I think the defensive side for for Georgia Southern is going to really
[00:13:48] what makes or breaks that gap Troy's an interesting one Troy is you got a quarterback that they're
[00:13:56] gonna shoot for this year in the fall camp that's fighting for that starting job you got
[00:14:04] Jacob free you got Gunnar Watson you got Parker McNeil fighting for that nod to get under center
[00:14:12] you got your top receiving core back now again their biggest issues will be out as against defense
[00:14:24] they gave up 34.8 a year ago and points they gave up almost seven yards a carry we'll see Georgia
[00:14:30] State I think going to have some issues waiting they got road trips to Troy road trip to Appalachian
[00:14:38] State Arkansas State Charlotte Alabama well Alabama but I think that's been canceled which
[00:14:44] probably in my opinion wouldn't matter anyway you got close to Carolina you get I think in the
[00:14:50] bottom of the East Division the still in rebuilding mode they do have six starters
[00:14:55] coming back on defense I think they can make a bowl game I think at this point everybody
[00:15:00] gonna make a ball game the way that the everything's looking out to shaping up to be
[00:15:07] it don't expect too much from UNC Charlotte Louisiana is a team that's going to be interesting
[00:15:14] and if you don't know who Louisiana is they used to be Louisiana Lothar yet
[00:15:17] this is a team that could that could upset Appalachian State not say it's going to happen
[00:15:27] this could they face them in boo that game I think is going to declare home field advantage
[00:15:33] for the Sunville Championship game I will see Arkansas State I expect to make a run
[00:15:42] they got tough games Appalachian State and Louisiana they're gonna have to win both in
[00:15:47] order to kind of compete for the Sunbelt and make a run towards the championship game
[00:15:53] I expect South Alabama I expect them to kind of make some improvement show us an improvement as
[00:15:59] we head into 2021 Louisiana Monroe and Texas State I still expect a lot of rebuilding and a
[00:16:06] lot of improvement this year so without being said I know it's not much and Sunbelt's a great
[00:16:13] conference but again overall Sunbelt Championship I have Appalachian State beating Louisiana I do
[00:16:23] have Appalachian State losing to Louisiana in Boone but I think Appalachian State comes back
[00:16:30] and beats him for the Sunbelt Championship game I believe that Appalachian State has the best
[00:16:35] wide receiver offense aligned and defensive line unit I think or Louisiana has the best running back
[00:16:42] and defensive back unit and the Troy has the best linebacker crew in the conference
[00:16:49] offensive player of the year I think it's gonna be hands down Zach Thomas the quarterback I have
[00:16:53] Appalachian State I think Carlton Marshall from the linebacker from Troy gets defensive
[00:17:02] coach of the or defensive player of the year coach of the year Billy Napier from Louisiana
[00:17:06] gets the nod even though I have Appalachian State and Sean Clark winning the Sunbelt as the coach of
[00:17:17] the year as the coach in a hot seat Steve Campbell south of Alabama I think he's had his time this
[00:17:23] is a huge year in a tough actually this year gonna be a tough conference top freshman Christian
[00:17:29] Wells Appalachian State I expect to be big things top newcomer Brady McBride quarterback out of
[00:17:36] Texas State I expect some decent a decent year out of him this year super choice Troy I think if
[00:17:42] Troy can really make I'm good Troy gets the quarterback position under under under control
[00:17:48] they got the weapons to make the scores and points if they can fill in that secondary for
[00:17:55] Troy expect them to make potential some noise uh Louisiana wide receiver's crew is
[00:18:02] the key position to watch I think if they can make have big games they are going to make a run
[00:18:08] best coordinator hire excuse me Patrick Tony defensive coordinator Louisiana and again the
[00:18:15] hardest team to evaluate is Troy and the reason why they are the hardest team to evaluate
[00:18:20] is because it all depends on your quarterback that's the key quarterback you have no
[00:18:27] quarterback you don't have much of a team you have no offensive line you definitely don't have a team
[00:18:33] and if you're secondary and we all know as sooner fans if you have no secondary or their
[00:18:39] average at best you're going to get smothered and or smoked or burned or whatever you want to
[00:18:47] call it so again I expect Troy again to be a sleeper team hard team to evaluate
[00:18:54] so on and so forth as we barely in the Sun Belt conference real quick conference USA
[00:19:04] and we're not going to take too much of the time again we made this once and apparently
[00:19:09] my stupidity did not get the podcast out there and it got diluted so there you have it
[00:19:15] I expect Washington Kentucky to be the team of the the Wrecking crew in the East Division
[00:19:21] you got Tyson Heltons head coach in debut went off to a great start last or Rocky Star shirt say
[00:19:26] last year losing to central Arkansas who is a FCF which is a division 1-88 team I expect them to do
[00:19:36] at least better than that this year overall Marshall I think it's the only team that really
[00:19:44] could make some noise however with an inexperienced quarterback taking over
[00:19:48] you got four of the five offensive linemen back you guys and right you got the uh
[00:19:54] writing conference USA player of the year and brand and Brandon Knox who rushed over close to 1400
[00:20:02] yards just a year ago they could make some noise we'll see for the Atlantic Chris Robinson
[00:20:10] I still think it's going to be a phenomenal the offense is still going to be phenomenal
[00:20:14] however I think the secondary is going to have a lot of identity to show what they can and can't do
[00:20:24] expect the defense to kind of to kind of be the main issue Charlotte um I think Charlotte's
[00:20:33] going to have some issues especially on the run Marshall and Florida Atlantic
[00:20:36] middle Tennessee and Florida international old Dominion old Dominion by the way did cancel
[00:20:41] the 2020 season I think for the national and in middle Tennessee I expect them to continue to
[00:20:51] have rebuilding modes West Division hands down Bill Clark and his UAB dragons blazers whatever you
[00:20:58] want to call them they're going to be phenomenal again this year the defense is phenomenal
[00:21:03] top in the top in the conference the last three years I expect the same again this year
[00:21:13] law tech I think that's going to be the biggest challenge for UAB
[00:21:18] if UAB I think the winner of law tech and UAB the winner of that goes to play Washington
[00:21:24] Kentucky I expect rice to make some noise but not enough to be in that conference you would say
[00:21:34] noise they do have wine backer blaze Aldridge back Elijah Garcia the brandling Carol
[00:21:44] backing trenches for them for rice but the offensive side is concerning North Texas and
[00:21:53] Texas and North Texas is going to be the middle of the pack we'll see how they can do settle in
[00:21:58] with the quarterback position Texas and Antonio Texas and Antonio and and UTEP our teams that
[00:22:09] they're they're gonna they are going to being rebuilding mode for quite a while so
[00:22:17] conference USA projected top unit rankings UAB has the best running backs I think Charlotte has
[00:22:23] the best receivers both the linemen on offense and defense goes to Weston Kentucky even though UAB
[00:22:29] you can throw in a mix especially on that D line and best linebacker crew you can toss up rice
[00:22:35] and my opinion has the best UABs right up there secondary forward to none for UAB who do I have
[00:22:41] winning the conference USA championship game I got UAB in care of business over western Kentucky
[00:22:48] offensive player of the year Justin Henderson running back while tech to see him playing on
[00:22:53] Sundays defensive player of the year I have Jordan Smith linebacker from Alabama no sub or UAB
[00:23:00] coach of the year Bair Clark UAB no surprise phenomenal job at UAB coach on a hot seat
[00:23:07] damma dimo um UTEP I feel bad the program's really in the in the bad spot right now but you
[00:23:15] gotta show some improvement haven't seen that much lately top freshman uh Hayden Wolf quarterback oh
[00:23:23] Joann it was gonna be Hayden Wolf quarterback out of Old Dominion with Old Dominion
[00:23:30] canceling 2020 season Joann Johnson um I expect to be in that mix top newcomer uh Jason Brown Lee
[00:23:40] Southern Miss and sleeper team charlotte and western Kentucky quarterback position is the key
[00:23:48] is the key to uh position the watch by far for um for western Kentucky
[00:24:04] and we are just continually having issues so in the meantime we're switching over real quick
[00:24:10] college football just joining in on this podcast or you're listening on periscope which we're
[00:24:16] live on periscope we will be back on YouTube here shortly uh more than likely next week or after
[00:24:22] Labor Day I plan on that last week when the big toe announced that they were going to move forward
[00:24:29] with the 2020 season I launched the sportscaster page for the show that was pretty fun I'm still
[00:24:41] getting new to that but that was pretty cool but uh college football again if you missed it
[00:24:46] on the last show definitely listen but if you don't want to listen you're gonna miss out a lot but
[00:24:52] Clemson is my national champion I think all around Trevor I mean all around that team's talented
[00:24:58] and we are going to uh we're gonna see some noises here so we will go from there I wish
[00:25:08] come on Q&A session coming up next we got so much more to talk about
[00:25:18] we're gonna take a short break listen on how you can be a part of anchor.fm family
[00:25:26] and how you can start your own podcast here in just a few moments all righty welcome back
[00:26:11] hopefully that will um give you some information how you can be a part of this anchor.fm family
[00:26:16] trust me uh being a part of this community is great and it's the best way an easy way to
[00:26:26] pretty much make your own podcast started from scratch they help you distribute
[00:26:32] distribute your podcast out to the to the big names and even with your hard work you can
[00:26:37] do the same but in the meantime we're going to talk some more continue this training Q&A session
[00:26:43] we got one question is um he is a fellow listener
[00:26:50] uh good person to talk to he is the head coach of of Cardinal Gibbons high school
[00:26:57] in Fort Lauderdale, Florida he will also be on the show here hopefully next week
[00:27:03] if not the week after for sure hopefully we won't get him in the bind to where the uh
[00:27:11] the season is uh i know down in Florida i don't know if they start high school football and art but
[00:27:18] he is a phenomenal person to talk to and uh he is a big 12 guy went to Texas Tech
[00:27:28] little history about him he um coached that west uh he coaches that west Texas A&M
[00:27:35] he did he coached i believe in Winnipeg at the and the uh Canadian Football League so anyway his question
[00:27:44] his Q&A his question was pretty much plain and simple who is the better offensive coordinator
[00:27:54] leech riley debuck chow chow Londona um hopefully i'm i'm pretty sure i'm on right on Mike leech uh
[00:28:04] Lincoln Riley of course Mike leech the head coach at Mississippi State Lincoln Riley the head
[00:28:07] coach at Oklahoma so don't forget his brother i believe he is the offensive coordinator i want to say
[00:28:15] rice or smu um Matt debuck Matt debuck um i'm sure that that's going to be him
[00:28:25] a norm chow and i'm sure dana hollinson you know and each one uh brings a different thing
[00:28:31] to a table now norm chow is a phenomenon he did phenomenal at USC he had well first off let's go
[00:28:44] with Mike leech um Mike leech back in the late 90s when he was brought on from to Oklahoma
[00:28:56] under bob stupes in 1999 you had he brought a different style of play under what he did
[00:29:11] phenomenal job at Oklahoma in that one year he then took the head coach and position at Texas Tech
[00:29:18] and then from there he really did phenomenal now his his thing was we're going to practically
[00:29:24] we're going to spread the field and uh Texas Tech had a lot of amazing quarterbacks and and
[00:29:30] the reason why they do four or five thousand yards a season they had like i'm sure they had almost
[00:29:36] you know if you stayed your whole year you have 27 000 yards or and stuff like that but
[00:29:40] Mike leech really brought that that spread offense really made it known
[00:29:47] so again he was successful at Texas Tech of course there were some issues at the end
[00:29:51] that was causing him to get fired he did pretty decent at Washington state i thought he i thought he
[00:29:56] did pretty well with what they had out there um him going to the southeastern conference is going to
[00:30:04] be he's going to be one for the ages Lincoln Riley's offensive schemes is just one far probably
[00:30:13] no one else in this world can bring up if you sit here now have to find one and
[00:30:20] put it out on both the show and my personal one Lincoln Riley's visual mind visual is unbelievable
[00:30:31] he can sit there and tell you what play if you sat there and tell him all right Lincoln
[00:30:37] um let's just say for example the rose ball Oklahoma Georgia a few years back
[00:30:46] no i thought was a thriller one of the best class football games in quite a while
[00:30:51] Oklahoma has the ball Georgia's 42-yard line left hash here's a previous play third quarter
[00:31:01] whatever the score was at the time here's how many minutes left seconds left so on and so forth
[00:31:07] he can legitimately tell you what play that was following week
[00:31:15] Lincoln Riley i think from our little job at Oklahoma as well
[00:31:20] Norm Chow I think his claim to fame was USC uh his offensive schemes didn't work so well with the
[00:31:26] XFL with the LA Wildcats uh didn't go so well chow for a while then after Tennessee i think
[00:31:38] was what was it he went from USC who went from i believe he started well he went from USC in 2001
[00:31:47] he then in 2005 went to Tennessee i believe from 05 to 07
[00:31:56] he then was um fired by Tennessee after the 2007 season he was brought in from Norm Chow
[00:32:04] or he was brought in as head coach from Rick Newheisle as the offensive coordinator at UCLA
[00:32:14] when Lang Kiffin was brought in as head coach at USC i believe Chow then was attempted to be
[00:32:26] the offensive coordinator at USC but i believe he rejected it i can't remember he was then
[00:32:33] brought in at Utah for just i want to say one year i don't think he's there very long
[00:32:39] he was a head coach at Hawaii he didn't do so well he didn't do so well um then i think he went to
[00:32:50] high school for a split time and of course the XFL which well that went i think i think
[00:32:58] COVID took care of that one but you look at Hawaii as a head coach he didn't do well at all
[00:33:03] tough place you know just overall um to answer his question uh Dana i'm assuming that's Dana
[00:33:11] Hoganerson his offensive teams isn't bad he just i don't know um offense better offensive coordinator
[00:33:20] i'm gonna go i'm gonna go Matt Dubuck uh i don't know i i don't know much um
[00:33:31] of coaching we'll get him on what talk we'll definitely talk um on on here and
[00:33:38] i love to hear his history um of course Matt Dubuck i'm gonna answer that question you're the best
[00:33:44] offensive coordinator out there besides that i think Mike leach and i like what Lincoln Raleigh does
[00:33:51] at Oklahoma and what he did at East Carolina i'm not talking what he did uh don't forget what he
[00:33:55] did at East Carolina but you got you got Mike leach really got this spread attack going
[00:34:03] and so what he did there and he just carries on he just never had a defense seem like and
[00:34:11] and he hated punt he wasn't he's been a point on fourth down but uh me as i say the answer to
[00:34:18] question all jokes aside uh Mike leach of course Matt Matt you're you're you're up there you're
[00:34:25] you're my number one if i was the head coach of a university you're you're my first call
[00:34:30] i will i will say that uh but all jokes aside uh definitely definitely Mike leach i like what
[00:34:39] Lincoln Raleigh does too but you gotta go old-school at times so uh switching over to college
[00:34:44] football do NBA real quick and then uh we will talk some podcast and we'll head off Oklahoma
[00:34:51] City two losses away they are two losses away from elimination absolutely uh just get they played
[00:35:01] i thought they played well for the most part i did not watch the game but from what i saw the
[00:35:05] highlights i know they were in the game in the third don't know what happened in the fourth but
[00:35:11] nila as i say with that rush of westbrook i'm a little disappointed at how the thunder
[00:35:17] played especially game one i think both teams really came out
[00:35:23] definitely came out okay um stylish so we'll see um let's go NBA we're having all kinds of issues tonight
[00:35:58] all kinds of issues tonight all right there we go uh Oklahoma City won 1198 lost to Houston um
[00:36:04] um if you're Oklahoma City you're right back to
[00:36:10] really you're right back to where you were when Billy Donovan took over
[00:36:15] you get to the playoffs and you fizzle where are we're gonna take this i i get Billy Donovan
[00:36:27] won coach the year and and and rightfully so i think that i don't know what the job that
[00:36:35] he's done i don't know who you would have legitimately would have been said he was in a better job
[00:36:41] phenomenal job what he did the concern i have is that's that's fine with what you did in the regular
[00:36:46] season i'm not knocking that now granted this team was playing great basketball before this COVID thing
[00:36:54] hit when sports was when sports was canceled
[00:36:59] you're not you're you are completely playing the best basketball that the NBA
[00:37:08] has to offer in March after Thanksgiving they were playing wonderful basketball i i wasn't a huge
[00:37:18] fan of them restarting anyway i thought they should have just came to the league that's it
[00:37:22] we're done move on to offseason summer camp draft let's go back in october go from there
[00:37:28] but now you're gonna have a later season 21 22 or 2021 season you're gonna have i don't know what if
[00:37:36] you're gonna continue to have later seasons after this i don't know but Billy Donovan phenomenal
[00:37:42] head coach at florida he's done a decent i want to say he's done a great job at
[00:37:49] a Oklahoma city he's done decent but again i don't know we'll see i don't know his contract's
[00:38:00] up and i think if Oklahoma city's smart you look around first mark jackson's name still out there
[00:38:06] i wouldn't mind seeing mark jackson in Oklahoma city i wouldn't probably go the college route
[00:38:13] unless you can grab somebody big time and that can maybe change the scenery here in Oklahoma
[00:38:21] city i get people say well he's done a great job with a team that and heck even when
[00:38:30] even when before the season started i had Oklahoma city i believe when he 20 20 or 21 games
[00:38:36] yeah i didn't know i i did not have them competitive at all i don't know what would they end up
[00:38:42] winning fine i think 48 for i don't think is what they find it in the point but and that's not bad
[00:38:48] fifth in the western division but now we're in the playoffs and you got to win the playoffs
[00:38:55] play i mean that's great like i mean let's be honest look at Oklahoma for number of seasons year
[00:39:04] on year out but you got to eventually win that playoff game and it just has not happened for
[00:39:10] Oklahoma city my thing is i say you look look who's out there first ask yourself are these people
[00:39:21] or is he better than what i have right now can he take us over this hump if you can't answer
[00:39:28] that honestly then maybe you stick with billy donovan but i expect changes to still be made
[00:39:36] Oklahoma city i still think you start rebuilding you got a lot of first round picks here in years
[00:39:42] to come i don't know if you get swept by houston without russell westbrook first of all i think
[00:39:56] he's out i think if it's nothing if it's if it's a sweep if it's a five game series
[00:40:07] he's definitely fired if it's six
[00:40:13] questionable seven still questionable he's got to win this first round series we all knew it was
[00:40:23] going to be a tough one to begin with tougher if rus if rus was going to play i'm not for sure if he's
[00:40:30] going to play in game three or four i don't know maybe he's going to wait after the series is over
[00:40:36] presuming that houston advances then he'll play i i don't know but um i don't know we'll see
[00:40:44] Oklahoma city you're on the clock what you're going to do with the head coaching position
[00:40:48] and up it'll be on me my personal opinion i like billy but you got to win in the playoffs you've
[00:40:54] got to win the playoffs you've got to win the playoffs and that has not happened under billy donovan
[00:41:00] you lost last year to portland i blew the year prior to that was utah
[00:41:06] enough's enough enough is enough you've got to win the playoffs if you don't win the playoffs
[00:41:14] you don't have a job that's all there is to it phenomenal job i'm not knocking what he did
[00:41:22] but you gotta move on gotta move on nfl 25 days away uh we'll have an nfl preview show
[00:41:31] on labor day weekend so expect that uh here coming soon and also this saturday we'll be on

[00:45:06] i'm here with kody the build tender here with the energy fc kody what is the
[00:45:10] one of your looking forward to this upcoming season uh looking forward to a strong home
[00:45:15] campaign we want to uh obviously sell out every home game um we want to bring a brand of
[00:45:22] soccer that is an exciting brand of soccer uh to to oklahoma city um we have an incredible
[00:45:28] incredibly talented roster that uh we have goals uh of winning championships absolutely so first and
[00:45:35] foremost we want the experience from a fans point of view to uh to be an enjoyable one
[00:45:41] to get the get the results needed and uh to hopefully at the end of the at the end of the
[00:45:45] year be raising a raising a trophy awesome very nice and coming off of the win and out pass so
[00:45:51] what's your guys's goal heading to our home opener um just continue the good momentum
[00:45:58] playing away from home in the environment that we played it was you know 10 000 people it was
[00:46:03] a really really fun environment um and to continue that we are getting three goals away
[00:46:08] from home is kind of kind of rare uh and performing the way we did such in such a
[00:46:13] dominant way is kind of rare so uh we want to keep that same momentum coming into the
[00:46:18] home opener keep that excitement that has been built over the uh over the off season
[00:46:23] and keep it moving forward very nice and the last question though it's been a big talk around here
[00:46:28] of course the potential of a new stadium being built downtown what's your thoughts on that in
[00:46:32] the future for oklahoma city soccer and heading to potentially a major league soccer franchise
[00:46:37] yeah i think uh i think we're at the point now where it's needed um if you look at
[00:46:42] where the sport is going in the united states over the next 10 to 15 to 20 years um soccer
[00:46:48] and basketball are the two that aren't the forefront um knowing that it could possibly be a or it will
[00:46:55] be a multi-use facility therefore able to hold concerts um high school football events you know
[00:47:02] other sporting events um sports bring communities together um i think you see at first hand
[00:47:08] with what the thunder is doing so i really really already coming off a big game um in elm pal so
[00:47:17] what's your momentum headed into lost vegas at the home opener uh coming off that game uh we uh
[00:47:24] i think we did pretty well for the start of the season and um we just got to get ready for
[00:47:30] our home opener and show the fans what we have to deliver this year and i think all the guys
[00:47:34] here are very excited for the home open on saturday so we're just going to prepare
[00:47:38] ourselves for training this week and try to get these three points at home very nice and of course
[00:47:44] coming off a big win out past so how as a team how's how's the focus remain the same headed into
[00:47:50] the home opener got lost vegas moving forward uh it's been it's been positive uh from beginning
[00:47:56] of preseason we're a group of guys that we stick together no matter what so that's the main
[00:48:02] key and the object so we as we say we stick together and we're preparing ourselves for this game
[00:48:08] because i know i know last bag is gonna come here and try to do the best they can to beat us
[00:48:13] and everything but we we just gotta be ready and as i said we're gonna prepare ourselves this
[00:48:18] this week for training and get ready for the game on saturday absolutely last question i'm sure
[00:48:22] plays a plays our hero but i'm sure that the fan base and the the rowdy crowd plays a factor
[00:48:28] in the home games as well absolutely yeah because without the fans i don't think we will have the
[00:48:34] motivation and everything that we have been going on so it's a great feeling to have such a big
[00:48:39] crowd behind your back and try to cheer you on motivate you so that you want to go out there
[00:48:43] and fight for them fight for the city and fight for yourself as a team so we're very excited
[00:48:48] and we can't wait for saturday awesome day shots appreciate your time thank you thank you
[00:49:14] that these guys have done it because they are survivors of difficult moments they they go
[00:49:20] through adversity and they come through in a very strong way so i would urge you to
[00:49:25] chat to these players not only just about their performances on the field and what they're going
[00:49:29] to be doing in the weekend to come but also ask them about themselves and their story because
[00:49:34] every single one of these players that we have and coaches as well for that matter has
[00:49:40] such an inspirational story for me and they are all mentors to me as well they teach me
[00:49:46] new things every single day and i think the the more you get the personal message out there
[00:49:51] i think it's going to be a great moment we will do our very very best to represent you guys in
[00:49:57] the city in the best way we possibly can we promise that we will do everything our power
[00:50:02] to bring success to the club into the city and we will do everything we can every single day
[00:50:07] to represent you all in the way that you would want to be represented in a positive way
[00:50:12] with with enjoyment and fun we know we're very fortunate to earn a living out of doing what
[00:50:17] we do for a job but let me tell you uh the pleasure is ours it really is a wonderful thing for us
[00:50:23] to be associated with so again we do urge you to keep coming out keep telling the story of
[00:50:28] these these players because they're incredibly special human beings as i would say quite often
[00:50:35] they're ordinary people with extraordinary talent and i think when you tell the story of the ordinary
[00:50:40] people who achieve great things that all of these people have i think you can not only
[00:50:46] sell that story and make it sound amazing to people but you also then inspire the next
[00:50:52] generation of people you would inspire other people to be the greatest they can be in in
[00:50:57] their line of work so thank you so much for being here i hope you enjoy the hospitality
[00:51:02] hopefully this is an event that we will continue to grow and develop and improve upon every single
[00:51:07] year and more than once a year as well so if there's anything unique from the players if you need
[00:51:13] anything from the staff please don't hesitate to ask the love to be of service to you and again
[00:51:18] thank you uh so much for your time and again keep telling the positive story of these players
[00:51:23] coming off a huge win uh excuse me in las vegas what's the team's focus heading into the home opener
[00:51:37] i mean el paso home opener gets las vegas this week i thought the the win and the performance
[00:51:43] in el paso away from home uh against a good team um opening day obviously
[00:51:50] franchise opening day for them and uh a very good team that we played against i thought the
[00:51:54] performance was a very hard working one a very well organized one and obviously we were able to
[00:51:59] capitalize on the opportunities that we had going forwards and scored three very very good goals
[00:52:05] so we we couldn't be happier with the results of the game obviously um as always we come away
[00:52:10] with plenty of things that we feel we did well and and just as many that we aim to improve on
[00:52:16] and that's the focus of the week this week to prepare well as we always do to improve on the
[00:52:21] elements of the game that we feel uh need those areas of improvement and and we know that this
[00:52:26] weekend the las vegas game will be another difficult one and um you know we we look forward to
[00:52:32] getting back um in front of our home fans and you know we're all excited about that home
[00:52:37] opener however we will prepare as we do for any other game and uh you know we'll we'll take
[00:52:43] a look at the opponent that we're playing and we'll uh we'll plan as we always do to you know to
[00:52:48] play a match against again another group that will cause us some problems i think from a from a ability
[00:52:53] point of view and we'll do our best to combat that but uh we we're looking forward to it and
[00:52:58] the one thing we always ask the players that we prepare well that we focus on the task and
[00:53:03] and the effort goes into training properly this week first and foremost and then
[00:53:07] the attention in a couple of days time will turn a little bit more to saturday and
[00:53:11] prepare the players physically make sure we're fresh going into the weekend and
[00:53:15] aim to work hard and give a performance from an effort and a quality point of view that
[00:53:21] that we want to display to the to the fans who come to the game absolutely and of course what's
[00:53:24] the matters to the fans of what would you be the biggest um top priority to so to speak of
[00:53:29] why they should come out to the game this week i think for for the fans we we aim to to give
[00:53:35] the oklahoma city fans something that they can be proud of watching on the field i think like i say
[00:53:41] a staple of that is that we we have a group of guys who i think will will work extremely hard for
[00:53:45] each other will work extremely hard for for the club and for the fans to every game regardless of
[00:53:51] home or away give a an effort in performance that people can be proud of and obviously we'll
[00:53:57] do our best every time we play to win games of soccer of course um but but um you know the
[00:54:04] game is there's lots of variables that go into a game that will determine the work one thing that
[00:54:09] the results excuse me one thing that we can control ourselves is how we approach the game from an
[00:54:14] attitude point of view and like i say the team i think will reflect the city will work very hard
[00:54:19] will give 100 effort and focus and commitment to the task uh and then the the results will
[00:54:25] fall as as they will and will will of course aim to win as many games as possible but i don't
[00:54:29] think fans will hopefully ever leave a game not feeling that the players on the pitch at any given
[00:54:34] moment have given everything that they can for the club in the city absolutely and no kody in the
[00:54:38] in the net and the roster up and down is is stacked with a lot of talent um i know a lot of people
[00:54:45] saying that the uh the expectations are high do you think it's reasonable or is it just too
[00:54:50] is it too early to to account for a championship at the end of the season
[00:54:54] well i think certainly it's too early to account for a championship at this point however i understand
[00:55:00] the optimism um we're extremely confident in the group of players that we've got um
[00:55:06] we're very pleased that people seem to be excited about the season ahead as are we um but i think
[00:55:12] you know from a from a professional player and professional coaches point of view
[00:55:16] we take it one game at a time and we approach the next game and there's the same amount of points
[00:55:22] available this weekend as there will be on the last game of the season and so
[00:55:26] every game that we play there's three points up for grabs and we'll do our best to win those
[00:55:29] three points we'll see where that takes us come the end of the season but uh like i say we're very
[00:55:34] confident in the players we believe we've got a group of players to to do well this season and
[00:55:39] that's what we'll do we'll just do it a little bit uh you know a bit more gradually
[00:55:44] in terms of focusing on the next game the next performance in the next three points
[00:55:47] and last question i know it's been big talk this past week but uh i know it's down the future
[00:55:52] what's your thoughts on the potential new stadium downtown and what that could bring to Oklahoma
[00:55:57] City well we've seen obviously the plans and the uh the project in terms of how that may take shape
[00:56:06] we're extremely excited about it i think it will be a wonderful thing um for of course the team
[00:56:13] but i think for the city and for for the fans who who come and support the team it gives i think
[00:56:18] something that will be um a home for people to come and call their own um i think it'll provide
[00:56:25] an environment and create an atmosphere not just in the stadium but in the surrounding area as well
[00:56:30] that um people hopefully will enjoy being part of and you know will only help the club progress
[00:56:36] help the club build and like i say provide an exciting place for fans for players for anybody
[00:56:41] involved in the club and the community just as importantly to like i say call their home for
[00:56:46] many years to come so we're excited about it and we look forward to see what's what's to come
[00:56:51] i know i'm excited for this 2019 season i'm sure you guys are as well we certainly are we're
[00:56:55] looking forward to it and we've had a we've had a very good preseason the players have
[00:56:59] worked extremely well through a long seven weeks and you know it was great to kick off
[00:57:04] a game in anger last last weekend and play a game that obviously has three points on the line
[00:57:10] and there's nothing like that match day for players to get themselves excited about and to look forward
[00:57:16] to and so we'll do the same this weekend and uh you know like i say we're confident but we'll
[00:57:21] do that with you know with some humility as well and we'll uh we'll approach every game and and
[00:57:26] provide the effort that we feel is the right way to go about winning games of soccer
