[00:00:32] You pop your memory cap before we can activate you? Richter goes hog wild screwing up everything I spent a year planning. Frankly, I'm amazed it worked.

[00:00:42] Well, Cohagen, I have to hand it to you. It's the best mindfuck yet. Oh. Don't take my word for it.

[00:01:39] Hello everybody. Before we get right into the rest of this mini-sode, I'm just giving just a proper introduction.

[00:01:46] I decided to tell everybody more about the beloved Total Recall sequel comic from 2011.

[00:01:54] And it's very engaging, very off-the-cuffs, just beyond entertaining. They should have made more.

[00:02:00] It does actually end despite being announced as being a cancelled comic, but it was so ambitious.

[00:02:09] And just a proper love letter to people who have seen that movie millions of times.

[00:02:16] I'm going to actually read off some of the one-liners before I show you the rest of this excellent episode.

[00:02:23] But, like, Rachel Takodan and Arnold, their personas for their characters are just very well realized.

[00:02:32] There's just... I gotta read off these just amazing one-liners.

[00:02:37] It's like, you sure know how to show a girl a good time, Quaid.

[00:02:40] And he goes, I think a man should take a woman to the best places in town.

[00:02:43] And this is all while they're firing off their machine guns, raiding the base of the evil Martian company.

[00:02:49] They have all the mutants teaming up with them.

[00:02:54] And it's...

[00:02:56] I love her retort to that line, where it's, at least you're more fun than Hauser was.

[00:03:01] And he's like, hopefully I'm better looking too.

[00:03:03] And it's just... just shameless. Just shit-eating grins.

[00:03:09] There's... there's... very well animated fight scenes in this.

[00:03:13] And it perfectly captures the over-the-top satire mixed in with the comic book style fighting.

[00:03:19] Hence why it's in a comic book. Like, it belongs here.

[00:03:22] But, here's the thing. I would love this if this had been a legit movie.

[00:03:26] It really is a lovely thing.

[00:03:29] And I'm gonna read off the rest of these lines. I'm sorry, these are just too rich.

[00:03:32] And I love how she is just kicking more henchmen.

[00:03:36] She's out of bullets. She's already thrown the machine gun into the...

[00:03:41] the...

[00:03:42] Gestapo policemen's...

[00:03:43] I know they're not real Nazis, but that's basically what they're an allusion to.

[00:03:47] It's just a dystopian government who's...

[00:03:50] got Third Reich style designs.

[00:03:53] And I love how she's just like, sucks to be the hero.

[00:04:00] And...

[00:04:01] She's also joking at how the Martians are...

[00:04:07] far more equipped at fighting the solution.

[00:04:09] And they retort to her how...

[00:04:13] it's far easier to perform their program tasks than to fight the humans.

[00:04:17] And she's like, yeah, we can be a tough bunch to crack.

[00:04:21] And Arnold retorts, especially our skulls.

[00:04:23] I'm sorry, this doesn't do it any justice.

[00:04:26] You gotta actually read this fucking thing.

[00:04:27] And...

[00:04:29] It also...

[00:04:30] puts an end to the whole, was it all a dream?

[00:04:34] And...

[00:04:34] Cause, I mean, he literally has a dream within a dream sequence.

[00:04:38] So...

[00:04:38] They tried to kind of allude more that it can't be a dream anymore.

[00:04:41] But...

[00:04:42] He does...

[00:04:42] Arnold's character Quaid does butt to rest by saying...

[00:04:45] It doesn't matter anymore.

[00:04:46] Life can be a dream or nightmare or both.

[00:04:48] All that matters to me now is that I'll let each day worry about itself.

[00:04:52] Boom.

[00:04:55] So...

[00:04:56] I just had to give that intro.

[00:04:58] Enjoy the rest of the show.

[00:05:00] Now, that's a good segue.

[00:05:02] I...

[00:05:02] To prepare for this episode, I...

[00:05:05] read Dynamite Comics.

[00:05:06] Not only their wonderfully rendered DC adaptation of the movie, which...

[00:05:11] The characters don't look anything at all like any of the movie characters, but it's a cool read-along story.

[00:05:16] For reasons.

[00:05:17] But...

[00:05:18] Dynamite in 2011 did a sequel.

[00:05:21] And it...

[00:05:22] is amazing.

[00:05:24] It's not perfect, but...

[00:05:26] my only complaint is they wait till the fourth and final issue...

[00:05:31] to...

[00:05:32] start sneaking in all the Arnold-style one-liners and satire.

[00:05:36] But...

[00:05:37] But there's several times where people are freaking out and playing mind games on him.

[00:05:41] So if anything...

[00:05:42] If that's the case, he's having a mind game within a mind game.

[00:05:46] A nightmare within a nightmare.

[00:05:49] Like Inception.

[00:05:52] It is kind of...

[00:05:53] Layers upon layers.

[00:05:55] Layers, donkey.

[00:05:56] Layers upon layers.

[00:05:58] Layers upon layers.

[00:05:59] Layers upon you.

[00:06:00] But it's great artwork.

[00:06:02] Kind of funny.

[00:06:03] They even explore what the...

[00:06:04] the spaceships are like leaving Mars.

[00:06:07] And...

[00:06:08] One of them is called Battleship Potemkin.

[00:06:10] Mmm.

[00:06:13] And he will.

[00:06:14] And I totally recommend it.

[00:06:16] Like...

[00:06:16] If you read these comics earlier, you'll appreciate the movie more.

[00:06:19] But don't get me wrong.

[00:06:20] You're not alone.

[00:06:21] My co-host John doesn't care for it.

[00:06:23] And he likes over-the-top movies.

[00:06:24] And I don't know if he just saw it when he was in bad mood or what.

[00:06:31] We'll return after these messages.
